Imagine accosting a stranger in a grocery store because you mistook him to be your husband? That was the fate of the Washington Post science reporter, Sadie Dingfelder, who suffers from the bizarre condition of faceblindness. She explores this condition in DO I KNOW YOU?, her own journey into the strange science of sight, memory, and imagination. Dingfelder's embrace of her own neurodiversity is both intriguing and delightful. This is a strongly recommended interview, one of my favorite of the summer so far. Sadie Dingfelder is a science journalist who is currently obsessed with hidden neurodiversity and science-based answers to the question: If you were beamed into the mind of another person or animal, what would that be like? Her debut book, “Do I Know you? A Faceblind Reporter's Journey into the Science of Sight, Memory and Imagination,” comes out in June. She spent six years as a reporter for the Washington Post Express, where she focused on high-impact public service journalism, such as this review of every single bathroom on the National Mall. From 2016 to 2019, she also penned a biweekly column, "The Staycationer," detailing her DC adventures, which included a walk-on part in the Washington Ballet's Nutcracker, auditioning to be a “Nationals Racing President,” and playing one of the Smithsonian's priceless Stradivarius violins. She contributed feature stories to other sections of the paper, including the tale of a crane who fell in love with her zookeeper. As a freelance writer, Dingfelder's work has appeared in National Geographic, Washingtonian magazine, Connecticut Magazine and the Washington City Paper. Prior to working at the Post, Dingfelder spent almost a decade as the senior science writer for the American Psychological Association's Monitor on Psychology magazine, covering new findings in neuroscience, cognitive science, and ethology.Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators. Matt Chesky is the President of Insuritas a leading provider of embedded insurance solutions for financial institutions in the U.S. Matt says the process of ensuring you are getting the right coverage at the right price is painful. Insuritas believes part of the solution is to embed access to insurance products in environments where customers are already used to spending time. Insuritas is an 'original' insurtech, founded in the late 90s to help banks and credit unions run their own insurance agencies as a turnkey solution, so have two decades of experience with embedded insurance platforms.  Matt relays that every customer who walks into a bank is already an insurance buyer, so discovering the way to identify the right timing and solution in their hands, for example embedding auto insurance at the point of a new car loan in the bank branch. The second key is making the buying process as easy as possible, by pre-filling as much information as possible. The third key is having the insurance conversation in a highly-trusted relationship as an extension of the local bank where insurance represents the 4th or 5th product in the relationship. Anna NyakanaAWARD-WINNING & BESTSELLING AUTHOR, SPEAKER, PRODUCER, & SINGER-SONGWRITERAnna was born in Berlin, Germany in 1986 to a Ugandan father and German-Moldavian mother. Her family immigrated to the United States in the early '90s, settling in Stamford, Connecticut. Beginning at age six, Anna pursued her musical passions and spent her teenage years honing her skills of songwriting and live performance until releasing her debut album in 2007 all while growing a revolutionary spirit through youth activism in her community. With a desire to be the change she wished to see in the world and manage an entrepreneurial career, she proceeded to attain her Bachelor's degree in Business in 2011. Anna discovered there was an overwhelming need to empower the youth and chose to focus on literacy in order to give kids a true knowledge of self versus indoctrinated trauma. Out of this desire, the Niyah Zuri series was born and Anna took the next few years to write and publish her greatest literary work. "Niyah Zuri and The Pharaoh's Throne" hails as a time-bending exploration of Ancient Egypt lead by the fearless heroine Niyah Zuri and her best friends Miguel and Hugo Gonzales. The adventure continues in the long-anticipated sequel "Niyah Zuri and The Mayan Eclipse," both chapter books equipped with a full glossary and free online resources for parents and teachers to access.Anna has been featured on many media outlets to spread the Niyah Zuri message of diversity, empowerment, including SiriusXM, Entercom Radio, FOX, FOX Soul, PopFuzion TV, NBC CT, ABC WTNH, FOX 61, Connecticut Magazine, Sheen Magazine, Medium, and KIVO Daily. During her interview on SiriusXM's “The Karen Hunter Show,” Anna stressed her mission of decolonizing the curriculums stating, “It is critical children see a reflection of themselves in the books that they read. My mission is to inspire them, one adventure at a time.” Working directly with school administrators, she has implemented the Niyah Zuri series in over 20 school districts nationwide. Building upon the book series, Anna is creating "Adventures with Niyah Zuri," a cartoon series, currently in production and being pitched to networks. The animation will also be released as a short film accompanied by its own original soundtrack, executive produced and performed by the multi-faceted visionary.   Anna Nyakana has received many honors including Connecticut Magazine's 2021 "40 Under 40" list and February cover,  2020 "100 Women of Color Award" and Valedictorian, and Official Citations from the Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut and Connecticut House of Representatives for her relentless advocacy on behalf of students in her home state to bring diversity back to the classroom. Additionally, Anna serves on the Board of Directors for the Born Rich Foundation, a Connecticut-based non-profit that addresses the socio-economy disparities in marginalized communities through education. The Niyah Zuri book series is available on www.annanyakana.com and all major bookstores/retailers. Anna Nyakana is based in Connecticut and New York, alternating between the two as she raises her children and grows her Niyah Zuri Movement for the youth!https://annanyakana.com/media-kit

Connecticut Magazine called Norm Pattis, the Connecticut civil rights and criminal defense lawyer, the Defender of the Despised. It is a mantle he wears proudly. If you read about a criminal case in Connecticut, there is a good chance that Pattis represents the client, passed on the case or is in talks to take it over. His clients include Alex Jones, the controversial conservative firebrand and host of Infowars. Pattis is my guest on this week's episode of Killer Cross Examination. I'm still reeling from the amount of information that Pattis shared with me during this episode. Pattis, who has won millions of dollars in civil rights verdicts including in some of the most improbable of cases, e.g., Kevin King (just look the case up - Kevin King Prison Abuse) and obtained acquittals in too many cases to count. Recently, he obtained an acquittal in the high-profile case of Saifullah Khan, the college student accused of committing a sexual assault upon a fellow student. Pattis' shares his background growing up in Detroit and how his hard knocks youth gave him the chip on his shoulder that motivates him to this day. Pattis shared trial tips and strategies including the "Acid Rain" cross examination: drop after drop after drop of unrelenting acid rain that eventually, slowly, methodically kills the witness. Pattis described his jury selection style as looking for "bounce", who can he sit down and talk to at a bar and who "gives you something back." Pattis discusses how as a lawyer he deals with "inconvenient truths", those facts that hurt his case but that he needs to own. He shares his "zipper method" style of cross examination and cross examination preparation, how he insists on learning the science to combat expert witnesses, using voir dire of the expert to get into and under the skin of the expert before the jury sees the cross examination and how he has physically gotten on the table and on the floor to make his points during cross and trial. When he senses blood in the water, as he puts it, he goes for it. Pattis actually uses the courtroom as theater. Let me tell you something — if you are looking for a trial tips, closing tips, analogies, analogies, metaphors, etc., you'll have to watch this interview with Pattis multiple times. Pattis has written 3 books, is a nascent stand-up comedian, writes a blog and hosts his own podcast, Law and Legitimacy.

On the first episode of 2020 for The Tatiana Show, we learn some real history from our guest Kevin Gutzman. He is a New York Times best-selling author of five books including The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution and his most recent, Thomas Jefferson- Revolutionary: A Radical’s Struggle to Remake America. Professor Gutzman teaches history at Western Connecticut State University and at former guest Tom Woods’ Liberty Classroom. With the current impeachment of Donald Trump by the House, Dr. Gutzman provides some historical context of the process and what are the correct reasons to impeach under the U.S. constitution.  We discuss the origins of impeachment developed in the English House of Commons as a check on the king’s power and the professor provides some examples in history when the process was used such as against Thomas Wentworth, Earl of Strafford during 17th. Century England and U.S. supreme court justice Samuel Chase. Dr. Gutzman gives his take on the current political climate of America and answers the question of why the establishment is constantly undermining Donald Trump and his predictions for the 2020 election. We discuss nullification and can it be an effective means to curb the ever increasing size of the federal government, whether the population has become too docile and apathetic to shrink Washington’s power, and Professor Gutzman’s opinions of alternatives to the broken education system.  About the Guests: Kevin R. C. Gutzman is the New York Times best-selling author of five books, including the new Thomas Jefferson—Revolutionary: A Radical’s Struggle to Remake America , a History Book Club Selection. Hard Time: Life with Sheriff Joe Arpaio in America's Toughest JailSheriff Joe Arpaio is known as the Angel of Death--Shaun Attwood served 26 months in Arpaio's jail before being sentenced to prison. Prison was easier. This is his story - as told on Locked-Up Abroad "Raving Arizona."Shaun Attwood was a millionaire day trader in Arizona, but his hedonistic lifestyle of drugs and parties came to an abrupt end in 2002 when a SWAT team smashed his door. Shaun found himself on remand in Maricopa jail with a $750,000 cash bond and all of his assets seized. The nightmare was only just beginning as he was submerged in a jail in which rival gangs vied for control, crystal meth was freely available, and where breaking rules could result in beatings or death. Sheriff Joe Arpaio's jails have the highest death rate in the U.S. Hard Time is the harrowing yet darkly humorous account of the time Shaun spent submerged in a nightmarish world of gang violence and insect-infested cells, eating food unfit for animals. His remarkable story provides a revealing glimpse into the tragedy, brutality, comedy, and eccentricity of prison life. 24 color photographs.RUE CRIME EXPERT/analyst, creator/exec producer/writer and former host of Investigation Discovery's DARK MINDS (2011 - 2014), investigative journalist M.
