What hidden messages make Disney cartoons so impactful and enduring? Disney cartoons were groundbreaking. They introduced synchronized soundtracks in 1928, and today, they create extravaganzas that sweep audiences into tears and laughter, offering role models of virtue. Archetypal themes, often drawn from fairytales, thrum through the storylines appealing to the archaic levels of our psyche. Prepare to discover where Hermes is hidden in one of the characters, how childhood trauma activates archetypal helpers, whether Dumbo is a symbol of hope or a defense against maturation, how separation of the mother is required to actualize one's potential, why symbols are necessary to bolster ego strength and so much more… FIND A COPY OF THE DREAM WE ANALYZE HERE: https://thisjungianlife.com/dumbo-2/ Hey everyone, our upcoming episode will focus on Nightmares, and we're looking for your input. On Today's Show "It (TV) was my junk food, but also it was my in with the kids to be able to talk about pop culture, to know all the little nuances and jokes about the cultural zeitgeist things.” - Dan SantatMedia and stories around us around us are more than just entertainment. They provide a common space, a piece of the world around us that connects us to others. We learn from these stories, shape our own views and ideas, and listen to and share these ideas with others. Dan Santat, a son of Thai immigrants in rural SoCal, found solace and belonging in the storytelling of 80's TV shows and movies, connecting with others' experiences and perspectives. His fascination with storytelling coupled with his talent for drawing led him on a journey of self-discovery that would ultimately diverge from the career path his parents had urged him to pursue. In this episode, Dan shares openly about his fraught relationship with his dad. Dan's honesty is humorous and nostalgic and real all at once. He talks about the freedoms and limitations of growing up in the 1980s and how they helped him discover a passion for storytelling as a means of communicating. Dan also tells us about his experience of embracing art, despite his parents' differing expectations, and how his journey has impacted the messages he imparts to students he meets today.***Connect with Jordan and The Reading Culture @thereadingculturepod and subscribe to our newsletter at thereadingculturepod.com/newsletter. ***In his reading challenge, "Profound Panels" Dan wants listeners to embrace the hidden wisdom in the medium that first sparked his love of storytelling: comics. You can find his list and all past reading challenges at thereadingculturepod.com.This episode's Beanstack Featured Librarian is Connie Sharpe from Metro Nashville Public Schools. We don't just have the most unique sports team in America, we have the most unique media situation. The ultra conservative Hunt family has become a staple on Fox News the past month and is unafraid to let their views be seen. But amazingly, it's the liberal media bowing to the Hunts that shocks us. Is there any other conservative entity in America that the media swoon over? The GOP is exposing massive bias by a part of the FBI that targets Republicans and works for Dems to keep them in power. This is getting wild. At the same time, a memo leaks suggesting the next investigation will be into Nancy Pelosi's role into making sure January 6 happened. There is mounting evidence she conspired against stopping it. And if you haven't seen the new Disney+ Cartoon for kids called "The Proud Family" you should. I have the details on a two minute song that says Abe Lincoln didn't free slaves, mount Rushmore should feature black heroes and private schools are prisons for black kids. This is totally shocking.

Dr. Wilfred Reilly—Professor of Political Science at Kentucky State University & Author of “Taboo: 10 Facts You Can't Talk About”—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Disney's cartoon series, “The Proud Family”, explaining to children that America was built on slavery and that the country was founded on white supremacy. Citing economic date, Dr. Reilly refutes the narrative that the south "built" America and explains that the false narrative mirrors theories espoused by southern confederates prior to the Civil War. So, why is Disney embracing this historically inaccurate theory in 2023—and pushing it on children?
The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 3: In response to a question about whether TikTok should be banned in the U.S., President Joe Biden said he doesn't have the application on his phone. While appearing on CNN, former Obama-era Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta stated that President Joe Biden should have shot down the Chinese spy balloon before it was “allowed to traverse the entire country.” While speaking with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed that the Chinese Communist Party has embedded itself in nearly every major university in the United States. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philly is set to be the home of Major League Cornhole's first team: the Bell-Ringers. Rich vows to try out for the team. In a recent episode of the Disney+ cartoon series “The Proud Family”, characters explain that America was built on slavery and that the country was founded on white supremacy. In the past, the show's executive producer, Latoya Raveneau, has talked about her ambition to place woke storylines and imagery in Disney content. Is fast-food racist? One Rutgers professor says, yes!

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has declared a state of emergency. A scene from a Disney cartoon is making waves online. Some say the cartoon spreads “anti-white propaganda.” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is rallying public support for a “responsible” increase to the nation's debt ceiling. What's up doc? Here at TDBR we've been drowning ourselves in the nostalgia of classic cartoons. We're talking about the 1988 live-action/animation hybrid film Who Framed Roger Rabbit - directed by Robert Zemeckis with input by Stephen Spielberg, and starring Bob Hoskins, Joanna Cassidy, Christopher Lloyd, and the voices of classic Warner Brothers and Disney Cartoons such as Daffy and Donald Duck, Bugs Bunny, and Betty Boop! This movie with children's icons features murder, sex, stylish noir elements, and a storyline involving the corruption of the railway system in Los Angeles...huh? Austin gets into his vacation but mostly wants to talk about The Way of Kings book series, and Alex hasn't been up to a goddamn thing. Anyways, thanks for listening y'all. It was all started by a …rabbit? The rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit were reacquired by Walt Disney Company in 2006, but prior to his homecoming, few people knew about Walt's first cartoon character. Oswald was left to a few paragraphs or the footnotes of Disney history books, until David Bossert came along. In celebration of Oswald's 95th birthday, hosts Courtney and Emily are joined by the author of “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: The Search for the Lost Disney Cartoons.” Bossert discloses how a casual online article turned into a multi-year search for the lost cartoons and a book that gave Oswald a chance to take center stage. Oswald was only created and produced by Walt Disney and his animation studio for one year. It was a tragic parting, but without the lesson's Walt learned in the movie business with Oswald, Mickey Mouse and Snow White may have never graced the silver screen. Oswald truly is a lucky rabbit for the Walt Disney Company. In this Episode Saul and Jolene talk about a RPG that goes back to 1985, King Arthur Pendragon. Since it debut in 1985 with a box set it has seen a few editions, the latest being Pendragon 5.2. Saul and Jolene are interested in this game but each for different reasons. Saul owes liking and playing D&D back in 1978 to the King Arthur stories. From books he read to a Disney Cartoon movie called Sword in the Stone. Later movies like Excalibur, First Knight and others. Saul discusses how King Arthur Pendragon, KAP for short, is much different from the more well known Dungeons and Dragon. Jolene comes from a more historical angle and why she likes that period of history and sees KAP as a way of playing in mythical England of ladies and knights. With Jolene's background in Ancient and Medieval history and her fondness of historical romance novels Jolene is fascinated by the Pendragon rpg. As always thank you all for listening and please share our podcast with family and friends. It really helps get our podcast to as many people as possible. Since we do not advertise, word of mouth is the only way to reach more people. Thanks again. Music by kinglizzard, song The King Lizzard Overture, album ALVIDA Available at Tribeofnoise.com

Elsewhere, inspired by Disney's live-action remake of the "classic" Walt Disney Animation Studios film 'Dumbo,' the ambiguously dynamic duo ranks the worst Walt Disney Animation Studios films of all time. Break out the brackets because it's March and we're revamping our March Madness month to include Disney Cartoons! In the first week of seeding, we've pitting Goofy against Bonkers D. Bobcat. Will Goofy move back to Spoonerville with his son Max be enough to clench a victory? Will Bonkers new job as a cop be enough to bring home the 'W?' Also, is Bonkers seriously what passes as a bobcat in cartoons because he's pretty weird and now we're confused. Also, this is the first espisode that Sean and Dave have recorded in the same place at the same time! Will Dave reveal that he has a son named Max? Will Sean leave his job and become a detective like Bonkers? (answers: absolutely not and hell no) All of this and more on this week's episode of the Saturday Mourning Cartoons podcast. I'm making this poster icon as small as possible because I can't even stand to look at it. It's making me sick. Anyway the Cartoon Lampoon Podcast takes a look at J&SB'sSGCM for no reason other than it basically dared us to. Buckle up kids! And fair warning; this movie isn't a Disney Cartoon so be ready for some crude topics. Cruder than we normally get into on this show so that should tell you something. Direct Download

Geek Fights rings in the new year with our awesomely amazing animation apocalypse! Its one of our old-fashioned straight up vs. episode as Damon Shaw, Mike Ortiz, Victor Poynter, Chuck Farrell and Pete Lucas debate DISNEY CARTOONS VS WARNER CARTOONS (Yeah we know, it was supposed to be Best Jump The Shark Moment, but that didn't quite work out, so instead we tackle one of the great Geek rivalries) Can Road Runner outrun Dash? Is Donald or Daffy the definitive duck? Will Walt Disney's frozen head rise up and just buy us out (PLEASE!!! we're cheap!) to decide it all?
Dave and Mikkel go through various blogs like a post from blogstorm that reads John Chow stops ranking for John Chow on Google. They also discuss on links being put on blogs. Also Dave discusses Croc shoes on his latest blog post and downloads being made available from a retired Disney cartoonist
