Acht Jahre Pause brauchten Luke Steele und Nick Littlemore, um sich nicht zu trennen. Empire Of The Sun landeten vor fünfzehn Jahren mit ihrer ersten Single «Walking On A Dream» einen Welthit. So nah an «Walking On A Dream» waren sie wohl noch nie. «Ask That God» ist diese Woche Sounds! Album der Woche. Wir verlosen täglich Vinyl und CD - nur live im Radio.

Dony and guests Luke Steele and Lono from Reforge Gaming give their thoughts and impressions on the Playstation State of Play. Firewalk Studios' Concord featured heavily, along with many 3rd party titles, but also there was a great surprise at the end with the unveiling of Astrobot, a full length feature game from Team Asobi, which has the whole gaming industry waxing lyrical over. Also available as a video on Youtubehttps://www.youtube.com/live/m476knEPGds?si=VGDLetHOIv5AlIhG
The first Pure Dead PlayStation that came to you LIVE on YouTube went off without a hitch...apart from Dony accidentally clicking mute on his mic 3 seconds before his intro! It's a new age for the podcast where Dony copies the cool kids and takes the show live, but alas regular podcasts avenues are not forgotten either! This episode, we couldn't talk finances and business decisions without everyone's favourite gaming Aussie, David Faulkie and he was sad he missed a couple of episodes so Luke Steele begged to get back on. Neil Druckmann made the headlines discussing the future of AI, the boys discuss the upcoming Sony corporate update as well as their moves into mobile gaming. Davie explains the thinking behind PlayStation moving to two CEOs, IGN monopolises the games media much to Dony's disgust and Stellar Blade bucks the new IP trend of bombing, by potentially getting some DLC and maybe even a sequel. Lastly, the boys, rather Faulkie, discussed the latest SIE finances and explain why PlayStation will be bust within 12 months...00:00 Intro and Dony not on mute04:15 Druckmann on AI12:45 Upcoming changes speculation36:05 Faulkie discussed the two CEO approach40:25 Playstation making more moves into mobile44:32 IGN creates a monopoly 56:00 More Stellar Blade in the future01:00:13 Listener asks Faulkie about Sony buying Paramount01:08:00 Playstation's financial results
Joining Dony this episode is Luke Steele, and dragging him back to the world of Podcasting, the Podcaster formally known as Grumpy Gamer Ben. The show starts off putting the toxic gaming world to rights with some of the negativity around "ugly" protagonists in the way Star Wars: Outlaws which is the latest game being given the "anti-woke" treatment. Game UK appears to be in trouble and with that so is physical game sales. Helldivers 2 sales continue to shine, although the boys argue with Ben over Spider-Man 2 selling 10m copies "only". Vampire Survivors along with a Contra DLC will be coming to PlayStation finally, and we have another juicy month of monthly additions to PS Plus to look over including Dave The Diver, which Dony gives his early impressions of at the end of the episode. 00:00 Intro02:45 Star Wars: Outlaws outcry33:32 Game UK appears to be in trouble42:30 Helldivers 2 sales, ie Spider-Man 2 sales01:02:16 PS Plus April games01:06:50 What we've been playing01:35:55 Dony dives into Dave The Diver
Joining Dony this week, Luke Steele returns after being in New York and tells us all how he needs to buy new pants. Kirk The Gamer is back fresh from doing his Tekken 8 review for Pure Dead Gaming, and he waxes lyrical about Rise Of The Ronin...even if admittingly, no one else is. BEND Studio move into Live Service gaming according to a job posting, leaving Dony wondering what have they been doing for 4 years, Gen-Z is reportedly killing hardware sales according to Phil Spencer, and rounding out the episode: Dony and Luke played the Stellar Blade demo and they discuss their thoughts on the jiggles. 00:00 Intro06:50 Eddy Gordo and the Tekken 8 problem15:20 BEND Studio go Live Service23:50 Gen-Z are killing hardware sales40:22 Devs apparently don't care about the PS5 Pro57:00 Kirk reviews Rise of Ronin01:12:00 Quick thoughts on Outlast Trial01:15:20 Thoughts on the Stellar Blade Demo
On this episode of Vinyl Verdict, Bell, Jamie and Plouffe listen to Bell's next pick, Empire of the Sun's "Walking on a Dream". Released in 2008, it is the first album from the Australian duo of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore. The album was supported by five singles, which charted well in their native Australia and numerous other countries. The album is a mix of synthpop, electropop, dance rock, and a dizzying array of other genres. But will the boys be walking on a dream with this pick, or will they be left half mast, standing on the shore? Come along and find out!

Joining Dony this week once again is Luke Steele and retired Grumpy Gamer, Ben. Originally Dony invited the two on to have an early impression discussion about Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, but then PlayStation would announce 900 layoffs in the preceding days. Dissecting this sad news they look at AAA games and their impact, PlayStation's live service on-going plans and also consider if $70 is too cheap for games. Joining Dony this week, Luke Steele once again is here, and can you believe it, The Godfather of Pure Dead Gaming is also here, so welcome Craig. Dony has a New Years resolution believe it or not, and he also talks about his latest purchase. The boys put AI to rights given Steam's latest rule changes on AI disclosure. PS Plus has had a fantastic January across all three tiers, long may this continue. The big two talking points, naturally, are Xbox games coming to PlayStation, why is this happening, and what games do we think are coming? And we take a look at PlayStation into 2024, what do we want to see? Luke gives his impressions on the GTA:VI trailer now the dust has settled and the boys discuss if they see a future where Game Pass is on Playstation. Game preservation is hot on Dony's mind after recent digital and account issues at Playstation. Joining Dony this week, friend of the show Joe from The PS Trophy Room Podcast and also finally we nail down Luke Steele and for once not to talk about THAT merger. The news includes the PS5 model going on a diet and why Dony doesn't think the price should be reduced. Once again the Raya/Ramsdale debate takes centre stage in this week's episode. With the former in for three straight games since his introduction, we discuss whether Mikel Arteta will stick to his reasoning that each stopper will be selected on a game-by-game basis - and comment on that noticeable applause offered by Ramsdale upon Raya's save from Brennan Johnson in the North London Derby. Meanwhile, over in Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi is sticking to his word and seemingly flip-flopping Luke Steele and Bart Verbruggen as Brighton continue to plough on in the Premier League. The latter was in for the victory over Bournemouth, but did make what could have been a costly error in allowing the visitors to take the lead. In the Championship, Ryan Allsop has replaced Matty Ingram at an in-form Hull - a big call from Liam Rosenior which so far appears to be paying off. Connor Ripley saved yet another penalty in Port Vale's draw at Cambridge (that's now seven from his last 12), Troy Deeney scored yet another Troy Deeney penalty and Louis Jones earns high praise upon his return to the fold at Doncaster.

It was a successful run for the John Hughes Rumour File this morning, with two separate rumours confirmed. TAKE IT TO THE BANK told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast on Friday that Tourism WA's new brand campaign to promote tourism in the west will feature Empire of the Sun's hit song Walking on a Dream and a strong Indigenous element. The McGowan government will today launch the global campaign with WA songwriter Luke Steele, Tourism Minister Roger Cook and Tourism WA boss Carolyn Turnbull. UNBELIEVABLE last week told Parker that four acts had been locked in already for this month's AFL Grand Final at the MCG, including G-Flip, which was confirmed by the league today. You may know Luke Steele from Sleepy Jackson or from Empire of the Sun. Today he chats with us from Northern California and tells us about his first band, burying songs with Daniel Jones in a graveyard and living with bears. This episode has it all; enjoy. Hosted by: Tim Blackwell Production: propodcastproduction.com Producer: Ryan Jewell See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
With his countless musical ventures, today's guest has defined the term reinvention. In collaborating with some of the world's largest artists to date, he has paved the way for unique creativity. From being the frontman of alternative rock band, The Sleepy Jackson to half of electronic music duo Empire of the Sun, after 20 years of music making, he now emerges with a mystic, domestic wisdom on the comparatively unadorned and transportive new debut solo album, Listen To The Water. He has always taken the road less traveled, and now that road has led to a secluded cabin on a private lake in Northern California, and the birth of a new chapter of music. “I have hard-wired myself to be in a constant state of ever-grow. I will never be satisfied. You don't make a record for no-one to hear. I want people to be captivated by it. In a way it's a life story. You want them to hear the mistakes, the wisdom, the failure but also the glory”, our guest reflects. Whether you know him from Empire of the Sun or The Sleepy Jackson, you most likely know his music. He's worked with artists like Daniel Johns, Beyonce & Usher, and today, the one and only Luke Steele makes his return to This Song Is Yours. The prolific musician is releasing his first-ever solo record today, entitled Listen To The Water. In today's episode, we're speaking with Luke about the current state of the music world, moving out of Santa Monica for quieter pastures, how the Super Bowl inspired some of the quieter moments on this record, and whether or not we can expect a Sleepy Jackson reunion anytime soon. You can buy Listen To The Water here. You can listen to Luke Steele here.Luke Steele Instagram: @lukesteeleLuke Steele Facebook: @lukesteeleThanks again to Luke Steele for his time. Almost 20 years ago, Luke Steele emerged as one of the great modern eccentrics of Australian music. An ebullient personality (one was a spider, one was a bird), he started the decade as a scrappy underdog and ended it as one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Who else could get to that kind of A to B, from Jebediah to Jay-Z? With a new solo album looming, Luke spoke openly about his one-of-a-kind journey that took him from blues bars in Perth to the Hollywood Bowl and back again. Luke's debut solo album Listen to the Water is out May 13. With thanks to Mariam Dib and EMI Music Australia. Recorded by David James Young and Luke James Steele. A shortcast by Wild Moors' Luke Steele about snares - part of Off the Leash's series of shortcasts supporting Animal Aid's petition to make the use of free-running snares illegal. Luke is the Executive Director of Wild Moors, which works with communities, governments and companies to unlock moorland from grouse shooting for the restoration of wildlife and habitats - and of course to unlock moorlands from snares...Animal Aid petition Make the use of free-running snares illegal for trapping wildlife (Deadline 9th May 2022) Wild Moors Website and Twitter feed
A series of live recordings from outside the National Trust AGM in Harrogate on the 30th October 2021, at which a historic vote was taken to end so-called trail hunting on National Trust land.Charlie Moores joined a group of staff and supporters from the League Against Cruel Sports - who have been working incredibly hard to spread the message that trail hunting is a smokescreen for illegal fox hunting - his Off the Leash colleague, campaigner and author Dominic Dyer (who you will hear give a barnstorming speech prior to the vote), and Luke Steele from Wild Moors, a Yorkshire-based charity that works with communities, governments and companies to unlock moorland from grouse shooting for the restoration of wildlife and habitats. In the first half of this podcast - recorded prior to the announcement of the result - you'll hear from Emma Judd Deputy Director of Campaigns at the League Against Cruel Sports, Luke Steele, Dominic Dyer, a League supporter who asked not to be named, and Andy Knott the League's CEO all explaining why the Trust should finally end illegal fox hunting on its land. Next up is Dominic's speech. We then move to the afternoon and the actual moment when news was sent from inside the AGM and - well, the tears and the cheers began. In the final audio we hear from Emma and Dominic again, a delegate who came out of the AGM to tell us how pleased he was with the vote, and finally from Andy the League's CEO again..League Against Cruel Sports league.org.uk
"The only thing they care about is burning the heather to drive the numbers of grouse up - they don't care about wildfires at all, let's be realistic."In the following interview you'll hear Charlie Moores talking with Luke Steele, executive director of Wild Moors. We're discussing grouse moors and grouse moor fires, rewetting our peatlands, support from the government and MPs for moving from a partial ban on burning to a full ban, COP 26, NGOs working together, and a new reporting scheme whereby we can all contribute data that will prove just how many fires the shooting industry are setting on the UK's largest carbon stores.Charlie begins though by asking Luke with a new so-called 'burning season' just underway whether grouse estates were taking any notice at all of climate change concerns or the partial ban on heather burning that came into force on the 12th of June...Wild Moors works with communities, governments and companies to unlock moorland from grouse shooting for the conservation of wildlife and habitats.Wild Moors Website and Twitter feedWild Moors More than 100 moorland fires reported in England in past four days Wild Moors Report grouse moor burning

When we started these podcasts we both had a slight concern that there might not be enough going on to do an episode every week. We should have known better – actually we really should have known better because we've been working on this stuff for years. There are apparently no limits to humanity's war with wildlife and the environment, and a case in point this week is the Grind, the disgusting slaughter of cetaceans in the Faeroe Islands, which Dominic discusses in-depth, suggesting that suspending the UK's free trade agreement with the Islands is key. Dominic also gives an update on Nowzad and Pen Farthing. Charlie talks about the National Trust and so-called trail hunting. We have a shortcast from Luke Steele of Wild Moors. And we'll be naming our heroes (including Sea Shepherd and 'Stop the Stink') and villains and giving shoutouts to a march in London, a discussion and webinar on the badger cull, and a Whale and Dolphin Conservation petition 'Lockdown Never Ends' which is aimed at the TUI Group .Dominic Dyer Daily Mail opinion piece on the GrindTrade between UK and Faeroe Islands September 2021 pdfNowzad Operation Ark updateThe War on Wildlife Project National Trust and trail hunting 101League Against Cruel Sports Trail huntingWild Moors Standard Life snaps up moorland estate for rewilding in net-zero drive Stop the Stink websiteHerts and Middx Badger Group 'Voices for Badgers' webinarWhale and Dolphin Conservation Lockdown never ends – tell TUI to stop supporting captivity
Seja talks to her guest Luke Steele (Empire of the Sun, the Sleepy Jackson, DREAMS, H3000) about growing up in a blues club with his dad and learning some valuable lessons. Luke tells Seja about production ideas that never made it into a show, his experimentations with illusions and the mistakes he made as a young person. Seja shares her first memories of the Sleepy Jackson and they chat about Luke's friendship and creative collaboration with Daniel Johns, working with Beyonce and Jay-z and what it means to think about music as a business. Luke's strange show experience was illustrated by Liam Barling (@leleleroy). You can see all podcast illustrations on instagram @hearsejpodcat or on the HearSej Facebook page
Luke Steele knows how to create magic. From his accomplished work in the early 2000's with The Sleepy Jackson to the grandiosity of Empire Of The Sun and the bold musical exploration and experimentation of his project Dreams with Daniel Johns from Silverchair, Luke has written some absolute first class tunes that contain that inexplicable quality which transcends language and trend and resonates with people of all ages. His new project H3000 is a collaboration with producer Jarrad Rogers and is a meritorious continuation of Luke's musical journey. We talk about Luke's new bushman beard and his bear-proofing skills, waiting for the right musical calling, ignoring the fear of people's opinions, meeting Rocky and a bunch more. When Nick Littlemore was a teenager, his life changed when he discovered Sydney's underground dance scene. Alongside school friend Peter Mayes he formed the electronic band PNAU, who've gone on to become one of Australia's biggest acts. But he's a man of many interests – in addition to founding his record label, Lab78, he's also a prodigious collaborator, working with everyone from Beyoncé to Sir Elton John. In the mid-2000s he co-founded Empire Of The Sun with Luke Steele. But instead of going on the road with the band when they had a big hit with “Walking on A Dream”, Nick opted to move to Montreal and spend years composing the music for the Cirque Du Soleil production of Zarkana. We talk about all these experiences and more.

"...not only does [the way the land is managed] not deliver for wildlife, or the environment, or local communities, but it also doesn't even deliver for the grouse shoots themselves." Luke Steele, August 2021Charlie Moores talks with Luke Steele about grouse moors, upland rewilding, and the role peatlands can play in carbon storage. Luke is Executive Director of Wild Moors, the recently renamed organisation that has sprung up from Ban Bloodsports on Yorkshire's Moors, a group founded in 2014 with the stated aim of ending grouse shooting on Yorkshire's moors “to free the way for these spaces to be managed in a way where their full potential can be reached”. Wild Moors very much continues that work, but has broadened its scope beyond Yorkshire to help put in a new vision of uplands across the UK. In the lead up to the 'Inglorious 12th' – the start of a season where 'sportsmen' visit degraded moorlands to use Red Grouse as live targets – Luke and Charlie look at the failing grouse shooting industry, positive movement by Yorkshire Water on the management of its land, and a brighter future for our uplands and its wildlife - but they begin by discussing the rebranding of the group. Our second episode of season two starts with a discussion of Henry Dimbleby's National Food Strategy and a look at Earth Overshoot Day (which this year fell in July). We have a new team member - Lisa Marley introduces herself in a shortcast. Charlie talks about August 7th's upcoming Hen Harrier Day, and Bob Berzins follows up with a shortcast about the harassment and intimidation he faces for speaking out about wildlife crime on grouse moors. In Heroes and Villains we praise Luke Steele and Wild Moors for their work with Yorkshire Water, student and artist Giuditta Migiani for her superb badger pictograms, and the RNLI (not a charity normally in our focus but Nigel Farage's comments were just plain stupid); our Villians of the Week are the organisers of the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show for banning Action Against Foxhunting and the regressive 'countryside lobbyists' who want to water down animal welfare and animal sentience legislation. Finally, in our 60 Second Shoutout we flag up our own expanding collection of shortcasts and a Defra consultation on extending the Ivory Act to cover all ivory-bearing species.National Food Strategy The PlanEarth Overshoot Day Press-releaseLisa Marley website and Twitter feedWild Justice Hen Harrier DayRaptor Persecution UK Bob Berzins guest post: Organised crime, harassment & intimidation – another day on the grouse moorsThe War on Wildlife Project 'Snared' by Bob Berzins Book ReviewWild Moors website and Twitter feed Giuditta Migiani website and Twitter feedRNLI website and Twitter feedAction Against Foxhunting AAF banned from Gillingham and Shaftesbury ShowDefra consultation Extending the Ivory Act
Luke Steele was born into music – growing up in Perth his childhood involved watching his guitarist dad play in pubs and clubs and, when he was old enough, joining him onstage at weekly blues jam nights. By 19 he'd formed indie band The Sleepy Jackson, with whom he toured the world and received widespread critical acclaim. His big break, though, came with Empire Of The Sun, the outfit he formed in the mid-2000s with Nick Littlemore from electronic outfit PNAU, and whose song "Walking On A Dream" became an international hit. Now he's launched his latest project, H3000, with fellow producer/songwriter Jarrad Rogers. We talk about all of these different projects in this interview, as well as Luke's upbringing in Perth, the importance of his faith and much more.
This week's podcast is with Luke Steele, former Man UTD, West Brom, Barnsley & Panathinaikos goalkeeper. Luke details his journey into becoming a father and a footballer career that took him from Peterborough to Athens and plenty in between.
In our fourth episode we begin by discussing Tuk's Law, a remarkable campaign that has made it mandatory for vets to check dogs and cats for microchips before considering euthanasia. Dominic makes a striking argument about measures to control the Covid-19 pandemic and measures to control Bovine TB. We reflect on the future of Environment Minister George Eustice, and look at how businesses might buy upland peat moors as part of a strategy to bring their carbon balance sheets down to net-zero. In 'Hero and Villian' we praise Hugh Warwick (aka Hedgehog Hugh, who also provides a pre-record) for his petition to ensure new builds include hedgehog highways and Sue Williams and Dawn Ashley the joint founders of the Tuk's Law campaign, and turn our ire on Bayer (the manufacturer of RoundUp) because 'weeds' are wild flowers, and on coffee chains for using disposable cups again. In '60 Second Sell' we flag up two important petitions (' Mini's Law' and 'Call for Nature's Recovery by 2030') and look forward to Virginia McKenna's online ninetieth birthday party. Oh, and apologise for an unfortunate typo that meant emails weren't getting through to us... Joining me for this episode of “A Piece Of The Attraction’ podcast is our high performance coach on the team, Luke Steele. The students on our 7-Day Mastery Program describe their sessions with him as ‘inspiring’ and ‘awakening’ Since hitting rock bottom in 2005, Luke has been striving to learn the rules of success; one day he realised he had unwittingly crafted his own personal development syllabus, which now combines the very best self-help methods with cutting-edge neuroscience and development psychology. Luke's work focuses on high performance, and on showing people how to create a happy and fulfilled life through finding meaning by connecting with a purpose that will contribute greatly to their own lives and the lives of others. In this episode we covered a lot of ground, including: .Changing a negative lifestyle into a positive one. .How we help men who don’t want to be helped. .How to overcome a scarcity mindset .Using introspection to develop your belief system. .Can people ever really change? .Developing a powerful mindset .Starting from zero .Overcoming drug and alcohol abuse You can work with myself and Luke and the rest of the team on our Bootcamps and 7-Day Mastery Program. This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of September 9, 2009 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary. Our commentary this week focused on the pre-fabricated controversy about what messages U.S. President Barack Obama's speech to school children after Labor Day would be about, the open letter former BET.com executive Andreas Hale put out about the inner workings of the Black Entertainment Television channel & other mainstream media outlets, the discovery in Papua New Guinea about multiple new species on the planet (at least to us) and some other things here and there. There is a new episode of Direct EFX for this week, but we did not get a new Black Agenda Report segment before the show recording.
