Last Sunday was Mother's Day and in a culture that can no longer even define the term “woman,” Mother's Day is a bit of an anachronism. It's a day that reminds us of some things that we intuitively know beyond a shadow of a doubt. But it's a day that points out just how much nonsense has emerged in our culture. So let's consider mothers. R. Albert Mohler, Jr., “And a little child shall tell the truth,” May 13, 2024. Liz Lykins, “Title IX changes could threaten rights of the accused,” April 26, 2024. Lauren Dunn, “Department of Education rolls back protections for girls,” April 24, 2024.

Whether its your weekend away from your kiddo or not, here are some simple exercises and things to implement for a calmer mind..
Should interpreting the Bible be left to the “experts”? While certain high-minded scholars have argued this, the Scriptures plainly direct fathers and mothers to train their children up in the ways of God—and this can only happen by them carefully reading His word and explaining it. In this podcast, Scott Brown and Jason Dohm, joined by guest Chris Law, encourage parents to actively read and discuss the Scriptures with their children, and they offer some helpful interpretive keys to use. The first is context: who is the author of a particular book addressing, where is he located, and what is he speaking about? Other principles: clear texts interpret unclear texts; specific texts interpret general texts; and literal texts interpret figurative texts. They also urge parents to not miss the big picture, but to make it their chief aim to show their children how great and wonderful God is whenever they open His word. Welcome and thank you for listening! In this episode Mbali Tshabalala shares her journey of becoming a Professional Nurse & Midwife and how she persevered against the odds and is now a passionate ‘Sensitive Midwife'. Mbali received her education at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital and at the Hillbrow Maternity Obstetrics Unit where her love and passion for moms and babies was further nurtured. After graduating, she moved to rural KZN and worked as a Midwife where she gained experience in antenatal care, intrapartum care, postnatal care and management of obstetrics emergencies. She has worked in Independent Midwifery, practicing at a Birthing Centre in KZN, where she provided personalised care to low risk moms and their partners throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal care. Simultaneously she completed the Certified Sensitive Midwife Course. There was no better setting to put theory to practice and she empowered herself to provide the Sensitive Birthing care at the Birthing Centre. This has set her up to become a Mentor for the Certified Sensitive Midwife Course, where she now empowers other Midwives through the Course and in their working place. She also provides education and online sessions for Moms & Dads (to be) for Sister Lilian Centre. Furthermore, Mbali is studying a Diploma in Public Health in hope to make room for Midwives at the obstetric table. She remains clinically active in the field as a Midwife doing locums in Maternity Wards of Private Hospitals and a maternity program called Network One Health, a Sensitive Midwife-Led Programme with a multidisciplinary team approach. Mbali is a vibrant young lady. She enjoys keeping healthy and fit and she lights up the world with her laughter. Enjoy listening to her inspiring story! Find out more about the Certified Sensitive Midwife Course. Book an online session with ‘Ask The Sensitive Midwife'. Thank you so much for joining us today. On today's episode of Birthing In Finland I will be chatting with Clara Vazquez about her role as a family expert and psychologist with Mielen Portti. Clara facilitates and leads events and gatherings for families with immigrant background, with the focus of mental health and well being. In this episode, you'll hear more on what Mielen Portti has to offer your family and why Clara is such a fantastic person to know! We spoke about the challenges of foreign families living here and how having time for yourself as a parent with little family help can be very challenging. Just by listening to the challenges that Clara shares you might get a feeling of being understood and that you are not alone in it. In the episode Clara refers to 2 workshops that Giuliano is facilitating with Mielen Portti but we don't go into them in depth. If you are interested to hear more about those then go back and listen to episode 14 where I interviewed Giuliano exactly about these groups. In the episode Clara also mentions neighborhood mothers which you can also learn more about by listening to episode 9. Finally, Clara mentioned a conscious parenting course - and the upcoming one is actually starting really soon on September 21st 2022. You can sign up for that by emailing Clara. Let's get right into and dive into the interview i had on the podcast with Clara Vazquez. Show notes: 1. Clara's email address: clara.vazquez@trapesa.com 2. Kennel Kelp Holistic Healing Hour Teaching Our Children About Native Americans & All of "Society's Children" about Water & its History Thanks for joining me today here at The Kennel Kelp Holistic Healing Hour, and I am your host and moderator Grandpa Bill. Welcome one and all and thanks for joining us again today, where we will continue our efforts to reach out to more parents, grandparents Moms Dads sisters brothers cousins, aunt, uncles, all of us-for the sake of posterity-we continue to look at Veda Austin from New Zealand and her overall works for sure, but honing in on her great You Can Be a Water Hero too and my support in her efforts via my fund drive. TEACHING OUR CHILDREN THAT NATIVE AMERICANS ARE HISTORY-American Indians are a part of the contemporary United States, not just the historical one, and so are other aboriginal tribes, indigenous folks around the globe. It is so key to continue to teach ALL children about the complete history of water- I will soon be talking more about our own Maine Tribes and their relationships ships with the fascinating Maine waterways and ocean coast also! Veda Austin, author of The Secret Intelligence of Water, sees water as Source rather than a resource, and considers all bodies of water to be sacred. Her passion for water extends out of the freezer and into primary schools where she donates time teaching water science and cleverly intertwines it with art projects. She loves to reconnect children to the living water systems inside and outside of their bodies, believing that the 'tamariki' (children) are the water bearers of the future. She also spends a lot of time doing interviews and podcasts where she shares her findings and inspiring perspectives. I want to give shout outs to bubble dads and moms that since the pandemic they’ve taken their “game” to another level. I also want to put a spot light on areas that parents might be neglecting as they kick themselves because they are performing they way they think they should be!! I did this during to work because as we all know now days nothing is normal but that doesn’t mean the grind stops!! I just listened to an amazing video from Gary Zuchav on how to heal the feeling of overwhelm. Dealing with overwhelm is complex and not just a case of fixing the overwhelm on the outside. As with all things, the trigger I always on the inside so finding the solution to overwhelm has to be done by finding the cause which is always on the inside. After all, it’s an emotion so it’s always an inside job. Guess what's the only industry in the world - besides the restaurant industry - where people make below the minimum wage? The incarcerated! We're talking prisoners here who have steady work and no nasty customers sending back their orders. Then why the restaurant industry? Where 40% of the employees are single Moms & Dads! There's no 401K in the restaurant industry. No IRA. Do you even know what they are? Had you had them, your money could have been invested in the market and have been given returns. You could have made a few extra thousand bucks. Legally. For doing nothing but just investing. Take our advice and go into a brokerage house or your local bank and open up a Roth IRA which will give you tax free deductions and growth. Especially if you have young kids. You'll start saving and earning and come out with a wad of money at the end of the decade. Point is, you have to start planning ahead! Remember that money equals freedom. Try liquidating that shoe collection. You don't have to buy Bobbie Brown. That Maybelline lipstick is good enough. You're going to kiss it goodbye anyway. Invest that money so you can dance on the street and not on a pole. You'll feel better about controlling your destiny when you start controlling your money. And while we're on the subject of destiny, take a lesson from those that wrote their own, by making comebacks. Henry Ford's first company went bankrupt and his second ended in disaster. Disney's first company went bankrupt too and faced some lean years before his eventual success. Sly Stallone was once homeless living on the floor at the Port Authority bus terminal and even sold his dog for a little cash to survive! And what about Oprah who was told she was unfit for television news? They all have comeback stories. What's yours? Contact Eric at: erictipnotincluded@gmail.com

“A mother’s job is endless…a selfless human who must sacrifice many of their wants and needs for the wants and needs of their children.” Sounds overwhelming but familiar, right? Maybe you’ve said “it feels endless” yourself. That quote is the Google selected response to the search “what is my job as a mom”. And there were dozens more answers that were equally overwhelming in their description on what a good mom does. The problem is we’ve heard these expectations so often that we internalize them and then they start coming out in our own voices as facts. We say things like “I shouldn’t have yelled”, because we buy into the idea that a good mom is infinitely patient. Or we put aside our own wants to do something for our kids because “I just want her to be happy.” We take the smaller piece of chicken and forgo the Hamilton tickets to go to a gymnastics meet. Listen to today’s episode and start changing where you are holding yourself to an unreasonable, outdated job description. Rewriting your job description benefits both you and your family. It takes consistent support and accountability but the benefits are huge! (HUGE!) That’s why I want you to schedule a time to talk about how I could help you. Click here to up set a free 45 minute call where we focus on your challenges and solutions. What you’ll learn from this episode: Examples of the difference in expectations for Moms & Dads. How society inculcates these beliefs until we think they are facts and then turns on us like Backstabbing Becky from 11th grade. How we can feel better without needing society to change (good news!).

Mom Enough: Parenting tips, research-based advice + a few personal confessions!
One of the first steps toward having a healthy baby is to make healthy choices during pregnancy. Smoking (or breathing secondhand smoke), drinking alcohol and/or using drugs during pregnancy poses serious threats to your child’s longterm health and development. Even before you begin trying to become pregnant, it’s important to have accurate information about the risks of substance use in pregnancy, the important role of family and friends and other available resources to help you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. In this week’s Mom Enough show, Dr. Adrienne Richardson, Medical Director of the Healthy Beginnings program at HealthPartners and Park Nicollet, joins Marti & Erin for a rich discussion of substance use in pregnancy. What new information on substance use in pregnancy did you gain from this Mom Enough interview with Dr. Adrienne Richardson? How could this information influence your behavior if you become pregnant, or how could it shape your conversations with a prospective parent in your family or circle of friends? Children's Corner: Quiet Determination, unlocking the gates to success (music) ~ with guest: Kory Livingstone Many people in North America and around the world question the value of a music education in their kid's life. School boards often slash music budgets, in favour of readin', writin' & ‘rithmetic budgets, when they find themselves in financial difficulty. Parents cite the excuse for not enrolling their children in piano, violin, guitar lessons etc., “ I can't afford it”. We all know that 99% of all parents are concerned with the future well-being of their children. That's why Moms & Dads all over the world encourage their kids to do well in school, listen to the teacher, go to college etc., all of this in the hopes that they'll acquire friends, get good jobs and ultimately be successful in their lives. However most parents, fail to recognize that it's not education in and of itself that augers well for success, but rather it's one's mindset that determines how successful you will be in life...for parents and children both. In his new book, “Quiet Determination, unlocking the gates to unlimited success!, Kory Livingstone talks about how mindset, rather than talent or education, is most responsible for our own success in life. Unfortunately for most people, having a mindset for success can't be purchased. It can only be developed. For more information visit: http://www.korylivingstone.com/
