玩車誌網站:https://carfun.tw/>) -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
The VW Bus, in its many forms, has become one of the most recognizable vehicles in the company's history. Sure, it might be second to the VW Beetle, but even that might be a close race. While the bus has been out of production for decades for use in the U.S. market, the folks at VW showed off a battery-electric concept in 2016 dubbed BUDD-e. Of course, wiser heads prevailed, and the concept van was updated and given a new name in 2017: ID. Buzz. Of course, it would be a while before the ID. Buzz hit U.S. shores, but a successor to the VW Bus is finally showing up on U.S. streets. The '25 VW ID. Buzz rides on the brand's MEB platform and packs a 91-kWh battery pack under its floor. That battery feeds a 282 hp rear motor or a 335 hp dual-motor powertrain. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek's Mark Vaughn hops behind the wheel of the 2025 VW ID Buzz and puts it through its paces. Vaughn takes you on a guided tour of the ID. Buzz to highlight some of his favorite features. Later, Vaughn takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Vaughn chats with host Wesley Wren about the '25 ID. Buzz, minivans as a whole, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2025 VW ID. Buzz special.

Shoot us a Text.Friday is upon us once again, and today we're talking about Rivian's first positive gross profit quarter, Carvana's record quarter, how Tesla is instituting wait queues at Superchargers, and the design of Kia's new PV5 van.Show Notes with links:We could talk about tariff warnings, but we aren't going to. We could talk about the ongoing Nissan saga and Moodys downgrading their stock to ‘junk status' but we're not going to. Instead…we're going to talk about…Rivian hit a major milestone, achieving its first-ever positive gross profit of $170M in Q4 2024, a $776M improvement from the previous year.Total revenue hit $1.73B, above expectations of $1.4B.Rivian cut per-vehicle costs by $31,000 year-over-year, helping it turn the corner.Despite this, the company still posted a $743M net loss for the quarter.Meanwhile, Carvana swung to a record $159M net income in Q4They sold 114,379 used vehicles in Q4, a 50% increase year over year.Full-year revenue hit $13.7B, with a record $1.4B adjusted EBITDA.Stock dropped 12% after-hours due to concerns over softening per-vehicle margins.CEO Ernie Garcia “In 2024, Carvana became the most profitable public automotive retailer in U.S. history as measured by adjusted EBITDA margin while also resuming industry-leading growth,”Tesla's Supercharger network is the best in the game, but with increased usage from both Tesla and non-Tesla EVs, long wait times have become a problem. After a viral altercation at a Supercharger, Tesla is finally launching a virtual queue system in Q2.Tesla will roll out the queue at select Superchargers nationwide, aiming to improve the experience for the ~1% of users who experience wait times. The viral video shows two Tesla owners arguing over a charging spot, highlighting the need for a structured waiting system.Tesla has not provided details on how the queue system will work, but a broader rollout is expected later this year if feedback is positive. The company continues to expand its Supercharger network by over 20% annually to meet growing demand.Tesla in a statement said, “Goal is a net customer experience improvement,”Kia has revealed the exterior design of its PV5, the first EV under its "Platform Before Vehicle" (PBV) brand. Designed to compete with electric vans like the VW ID Buzz and Ford E-Transit, the PV5 offers a modular design for cargo, rideshare, and even #vanlife. The PBV system allows the van to transform between different body types while keeping the driver cab fixed.Uber has already signed an agreement to add the PV5 to its fleet as part of its all-electric push by 2040.While Kia has not shared powertrain, range, or pricing details, more information will be revealed at Kia EV Day in Spain later this month.“With PBV, we are redefining mobility—one platform, endless possibilities,”Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

At this point, all you can do is laugh... or cry. We are about 4 years into the insanity of dealership markups on new cars and we have a CEO of a leading manufacturer, telling its consumers, they can't figure it out. This is not rocket science, we are not asking for time travel... but the way some of these manufacturers talk about dealing with dealer relationships, you would think we asked for a time machine! The upcoming 2024 VW #IDBuzz is an essential vehicle for VW and their North American market, and also their image. But, given that the price will be something around or north of $50,000, telling consumers BEFORE the car is out, that markups may be inevitable, is an excellent way to kill your own hype. Let's discuss this. ______ #carquicks #podcast #episode20 #Volkswagen #electriccar #Microbus #2024IDBuzz #tesla #rivian #lucidair #markups #ADM #newcars

Cars were a defining element of the old codgers' lives as children, young adults with their first cars, and even as they grew older. Randy and Gary along with guest host John Foster reminisce about the vehicles they grew up with and their favorites. Surprisingly, all the guys shared a passion for Volkswagens of all vintages ranging from Gary's 1960 VW Microbus to John's 2004 VW Phaeton. As discussed in this episode, Randy and John retain their love for cars (Gary, not so much). Randy is looking forward to the car of his dreams, the VW ID Buzz which blends the nostalgia of his 1966 VW Microbus with the practicality of an electric vehicle. Would you like to hear when the old codgers are rambling on about something else? Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to receive an email notification each time we publish a new episode.

It's Sunday 8th May, it's Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. ELECTRIC VW ID BUZZ STARTS AT 65,000 EUROS "The updated list of eligible electric vehicles published by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (Bafa) reveals something that VW only wanted to tell us at the start of sales: the price of the ID Buzz." "Bafa, which is responsible for promoting e-cars, gives the first ID Buzz Pro model available for sale with a net price of 54,270 euros. Plus the statutory sales tax, the Bully successor is around 64,580 euros and thus well above the 40,000 euro limit for the higher subsidy. The purchase bonus for the ID Buzz this year is still 7,500 euros, of which 2,500 euros from the manufacturer, so that customers have to spend around 57,080 euros on balance." "For the commercial offshoot, the ID Buzz Cargo, interested parties have to budget 45,740 euros net. With a premium, they come to a net purchase price of 38,240 euros. They get the sales tax back from the tax office anyway." Original Source: https://t3n.de/news/bafa-leak-vw-id-buzz-65000-1470726/ FORD THROWS SHADE AT TESLA WITH A NEW AD CELEBRATING WORKERS - It starts with a nice touch of snark. Footage is shown of a hand scrolling on a smartphone with the commentary, “Right now it could seem like the only people who matter are the loudest….” Who could they be thinking of? - Then, it continues— “Those who want to tear things down and then fly away on their personal spaceships when things get hard,” A video of a rocket taking lift off fills the screen. - The rest of the ad is dedicated to profiling the workers of Ford, profiling a culturally and gender diverse cohort of people working by their first name. The narrator says that Ford assembles more vehicles in the US than other car manufacturers, which means local jobs. - The narrator continues: “… we've got 182,000 people, and they're building.” and goes on further to conclude, “you might not know their names, but these people get up every day to move us all forward.” Original Source : https://thenextweb.com/news/ford-snarks-elon-musk-and-celebrates-their-workers HOT VOLKSWAGEN ID.3 GTX TO JOIN RANGE IN 2023 - Volkswagen has been tipped to spice up its ID.3 EV with a performance version that will become the brand's first all-electric hot hatchback. And now, we know when it'll arrive. - Speaking at the launch of the new ID.5 SUV in Austria, Volkswagen product line spokesperson Martin Hube noted that the ID.3 GTX's entry to the range will coincide with the ID.3's mid-life facelift. “Of course the project is progressing,” he said, adding, “[For the] ID.3 facelift…we will get some very interesting details and of course, we are convinced that customer's expectations for a bit more power, for all-wheel drive is there, and [the] customer's wish is what we have to fulfil.” - This means the ID.3 GTX won't be launched this year - we're not expecting a facelifted ID.3 until 2023 at the earliest. - likely that the ID.3 GTX will use the same twin-motor powertrain as the ID.4 GTX, producing 295bhp. In the smaller, lighter ID.3, the GTX will likely undercut the ID.4 GTX's 6.2-second 0-62mph time. · Original Source : https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/id3/355043/hot-volkswagen-id3-gtx-join-range-2023 TESLA OPENS MORE SUPERCHARGERS TO OTHERS - In Norway, Tesla has opened more Superchargers for other brands. According to one observer, almost the entire route to the North Cape is now open to electric cars from other manufacturers. - Multiple articles report that this involves 42 additional Supercharger locations where non-Teslas can now also charge. After an initial test with ten sites in the Netherlands in November 2021, Tesla opened its first charging parks in Norway and France to non-Tesla brands this January with initially 15 in Norway and 16 in France. - In the north of the country, the entire route to the North Cape is not completely covered by Superchargers and in some places the distance between chargers is around 400 kilometres. · Original Source : https://www.electrive.com/2022/05/06/tesla-opens-more-superchargers-to-others/ EXCLUSIVE CATL PLANNING EV BATTERY PRODUCTION IN UNITED STATES, VETTING SITES - CATL (300750.SZ), the world's largest battery maker, is in the final stages of vetting sites in the United States to build electric vehicle batteries, an investment that would mark the Chinese company's first production in the world's second-largest car market, two people with knowledge of the plans told Reuters. - Contemporary Amperex Technology Co (CATL) is in talks to open plants that would serve BMW AG (BMWG.DE) and Ford Motor Co (F.N), and potential sites include South Carolina and Kentucky, where those automakers have assembly plants, - CATL had begun mass production of batteries for overseas markets in 2021 and was looking to lock in its standing as the major battery supplier to automakers overseas "in the next round of supplier sourcing," - Other Asian companies that have announced plans to build U.S. battery plants include Korea's LG Energy Solution (051910.KS), SK Innovation (096770.KS) and Samsung SDI (006400.KS). Show #1449 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily, you trusted source of EV information. It's Thursday 28th April, it's Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. VW SAID TO CONSIDER BUILDING ID. BUZZ, ELECTRIC PICKUP IN THE US - Ever since Volkswagen unveiled the ID. Buzz in early March, the automaker constantly had to answer questions regarding the possibility that the electric van will also be made in the United States. - reports claim that Volkswagen is considering an expansion of its Chattanooga plant in Tennessee. A source close to the matter told Reuters that the automaker plans to build an electric pickup and the ID. Buzz at the new facility. - VW has not confirmed plans for an electric pickup yet, although VW Group CEO Herbert Diess and VW of America CEO Scott Keogh have vaguely hinted at such plans. - The report ties in with another one from Germany's Manager Magazin from earlier today. The publication wrote that Volkswagen was planning to build a second production plant in the US that would increase its annual capacity to up to 600,000 vehicles. - VW Group announced on March 21 that it plans to invest at least $7.1 billion in North America over the next five years. Original Source : https://insideevs.com/news/582632/vw-said-to-consider-building-id-buzz-electric-pickup-us/ VOLKSWAGEN REPORTEDLY CONSIDERING A SECOND US PRODUCTION SITE PLUS NEW BATTERY CELL PLANT - With competitors like Nissan, General Motors, and Ford Motor Co. all manufacturing EVs in the state of Tennessee, it is very quickly becoming a mecca for electrification in the US and could soon be number one, according to the head of the Tennessee Valley Authority. - Current ID.4 production capacity in Chattanooga is expected to be from 100,000 to 120,000 units per year as the automaker adds a third production shift creating about 4,500 jobs. Combined with existing production for VW's Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport, the Chattanooga plant would essentially be maxed out. - The report also states that VW is considering a battery plant near the Chattanooga plant(s) as well. - According to VW exec Scott Keogh, the company's current plan is to source its EV battery cells from SK Innovation at the new $2.6 billion factory it is building in Georgia. In terms of a potential US battery plant, Keogh said VW will need units. The partnership aims to rapidly building a fast charging network across Europe by 2024. - The roll-out will feature Volkswagen's Flexpole 150kW charging units, each of which feature two charge points, and an integrated battery storage system. - The Flexpole units can be directly connected to a low voltage grid which removes the requirement for a dedicated substation and costly construction work, while providing fast charging speeds of up to 150kW - The first phase of the roll-out will see up to an additional 4,000 charge points at bp's Aral retail sites in Germany and bp retail sites in the UK over the next 24 months. - bp's charging network will be integrated into Volkswagen, ŠKODA and Seat/Cupra in-car dashboards ensuring drivers can find their nearest charger seamlessly. The trucks will be among 50,000 Next Generation Delivery Vehicles from Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Corp. - Maloney referred to a Government Accountability Office report released Tuesday. The congressional watchdog said the postal service used a gas price that is almost $2 per gallon less than the current national average price of gas. - The Postal Service is moving forward over objections of the Biden administration with its $6 billion plan to purchase as many as 165,000 mail trucks over the next 10 years, with up to 90% of those running on gasoline instead of more climate-friendly batteries.
