RUNDOWN Episode 335 opens with a classic Mitch-and-Hotshot cold open built around a unique problem: there's no area code 335. But that doesn't stop Mitch from spinning it into a musical deep dive centered on the new Eddie Vedder Cup, the tongue-in-cheek prize for the Mariners–Padres rivalry. The two riff on San Diego's surprisingly rich musical heritage — from Blink-182 and Stone Temple Pilots to Iron Butterfly and Heart — as Mitch tries to reel in Hotshot with rock trivia and storytelling. Then it's a packed slate of sports. Mitch breaks down the Mariners' stunning three-game sweep of the Padres, with big contributions from unlikely heroes like Dylan Moore and Rowdy Tellez, and serious praise for the bullpen and manager Dan Wilson. Brady Farkas and Joe Doyle join to analyze Seattle's weirdly dominant road performances, the emergence of Brian Woo as a potential All-Star and ace, and what to expect with George Kirby's return. On the football side, Mitch unpacks the Seahawks' 2025 schedule, including an unprecedented ESPN+ Monday Night game with a 10 PM ET kickoff. He also dives into the quarterback gauntlet Seattle won't face — just two of the top 12 QBs from 2024's passer efficiency ratings. Chance Miller, AD at Coastal Carolina, discusses a groundbreaking promotion giving free concessions to football attendees — and how it actually boosts revenue. Mariners' No-Table give their scouting analysis on the Mariners' rotation depth and the likelihood of a Cole Young call-up. Nick Sheridan, Alabama's co-OC, gives us an inside look at Jalen Milroe — his arm, his speed, and what Seattle fans should expect from their rookie quarterback. The episode wraps with “The Other Stuff” — from John Madden: The Movie to Scottie Scheffler's third major win to Brock Purdy's $265 million payday. On the version of Hot off the Wire posted March 18 at 9:45 a.m. CT: WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by a former New Mexico county commissioner banished from public office for participating in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection. The court’s order Monday means Republican former Otero County commissioner Couy Griffin remains disqualified from public office under a constitutional provision designed to prevent ex-Confederates from serving in government after the Civil War. The outcome of Griffin’s case could bolster efforts to hold other state and local elected officials accountable for their involvement in the attack by a mob of then-President Donald Trump's supporters. Griffin is a cowboy pastor who supported Trump in horseback caravans. The Jan. 6 attack delayed certification of Democrat Joe Biden’s 2020 victory over the Republican president. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is taking up a dispute between Republican-led states and the Biden administration over how far the federal government can go to combat controversial social media posts on topics including COVID-19 and election security. The justices are hearing arguments Monday in a lawsuit filed by Louisiana, Missouri and other parties accusing officials in the Democratic administration of leaning on the social media platforms to unconstitutionally squelch conservative points of view. The administration says none of the actions the states complain about come close to problematic coercion. Lower courts have sided with the states. The Supreme Court blocked those rulings while it considers the issue. The case involves posts on Facebook, X and other media platforms. RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — The U.N. food agency says “famine is imminent” in northern Gaza, where 70% of the remaining population is experiencing catastrophic hunger. It says a further escalation of the war could push around half of Gaza’s total population to the brink of starvation. The alarming report came as Israel faces mounting pressure from even its closest allies to streamline the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip and open more crossings. The European Union’s top diplomat said the impending famine was “entirely man-made” as “starvation is used as a weapon of war.” Israeli forces, meanwhile, launched another raid on the Gaza Strip’s largest hospital, saying it killed a Hamas commander who was hiding there. President Vladimir Putin extends his reign over Russia in a landslide election whose outcome was never in doubt, declaring his determination to advance deeper into Ukraine and dangling new threats against the West. After the harshest crackdown on dissent since Soviet times, it was clear from the earliest returns that Putin's nearly quarter-century rule would continue with a fifth term that grants him six more years in power. Still, Russians heeded a call to protest Putin’s repression and his war in Ukraine by showing up at polling stations at noon on Sunday. With nearly all the precincts counted Monday, election officials said Putin had secured a record number of votes. The CEO of United Airlines is trying to reassure travelers that the airline is safe despite a series of recent incidents ranging from a panel falling off a plane to an engine fire. CEO Scott Kirby said Monday that United will review safety training for all employees. Kirby says the airline was already planning an extra day of training for pilots starting in May and changes in training curriculum for new mechanics. In a message to customers, Kirby says the recent incidents are reminders of the importance of safety. He says the flight issues are all unrelated, but they have grabbed United's attention. BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho lawmakers are expected to vote on a bill that would ban the use of any public funds for gender-affirming care, including for state employees using work health insurance and for adults covered by Medicaid. The legislation already has passed the House and only needs to clear the Senate this week before being sent to Gov. Brad Little’s desk, where it would likely be signed into law. The Republican governor has said repeatedly he does not believe public funds should be used for gender-affirming care. If the legislation is enacted, the Movement Advancement Project says Idaho would become at least the 10th state to ban Medicaid funding for gender-affirming care for people of all ages. JUBA, South Sudan (AP) — South Sudan is shutting all its schools and warning of an extreme heat wave that's expected to last two weeks. The health and education ministries advised parents to keep all children indoors as temperatures are expected to soar to 45 Celsius, or 113 Fahrenheit. All schools were to close starting Monday but the ministries did not say how long the closure will last. They warned that any school that opens during the warning time would have its registration withdrawn. A resident in the capital said schools should be connected to the power grid so they could install air conditioners. Extreme heat is common in South Sudan but temperatures rarely exceed 40 C, which is 104 F. In other headlines: President Joe Biden campaign has amassed $155M in cash on hand for 2024 campaign and raised $53M last month. It's a sports fan's dream Sunday with the bracket announcement for the upcoming NCAA tournament, an unbelievebale finish in one NBA game, seven games on the NHL schedule and golf's No. 1 player prevailing again. In entertainment, "Kung Fu Panda 4" repeats at No. 1 on the box office charts, model and actor Cara Delevingne's home is destroyed in a fire, Usher honored at NAACP Image Awards and a cable car honors Tony Bennett. Welcome to episode 50 of the Product Market Fit podcast, a show about startups, technology, and growth, for early-stage founders and operators. My guest today is Jenny He, Co-Founder and CEO of Ergeon. The company raised a whopping $53M to finance its mission of transforming the residential construction industry. Fun fact, her co-founder Odysseas Tsatalos co-founded UpWork and Intacct. This interview lines up very well with last week's episode with the founder of smart-AC, as we dive further into how to build and sell software for industries that are slow to adopt new technologies. Jenny also has a diametrically opposed opinion of remote work to Josh's take as she has built this company remote-first with team members distributed across 49 countries. She also shared inside baseball on organic growth, testing with payments, and attribution, so grab a notebook and steal these ideas! Hey, can you believe we're at 50 episodes already?! This has been such an amazing journey so far and I want to thank each and every one of you for listening and supporting me. I am truly grateful and can't wait to bring you the next 50 amazing interviews with founders and changemakers. As I round this milestone, I'm thinking of ways to improve the pod, so if you've got any feedback on what you like, what you don't like, or suggestions I'd love to hear them! Contact info below

There are scams and cons that have perpetuated for decades. And one is the con game of "space" and our planet. The criminal cabal is masters of deceit to control WE THE PEOPLE. The criminal cabal that is NASA has $53M per day to spend on whatever they want. And they spend a lot of money putting out computer generated images of space and outter space when we have never been beyond Lower Earth Orbit. Even though that definition includes a lie about the moon missions, we provide it as evidence that no human has been beyond LEO. The rest is a lie. We included the audio from Buzz Aldrin answering a little school girl question about the moon and he could not lie to her like he has been paid to lie to WE THE PEOPLE for decades. The full video is on our video channel. So, if they are lying about space, why is Elon going along with it? I guess it is his greed and Asperger's (like psycho Gates). They pick these semi smart mental patients to go do their bidding while controlling them from within. Detailed Show Notes: Wine in NorwayWine is now equal to beer and spirits, traditionally was more beer & spiritsNorwegians into food and wine pairing, don't have the traditions of Continental EuropeHigher taxes on alcohol reduce consumption, but it doesn't impact wine; taxes are set by abv, so spirits are taxed higher than wine which is higher than beer - pushing consumers to lower alcohol drinksAlcohol advertising is bannedConsumption is lower than in other Scandinavian countries - Denmark (which does not have a monopoly) - 10L alcohol/person/year, Finland ~9L, Sweden ~7L, Norway ~6LBig seasonal impacts - more spirits and big reds in winter, whites and rose in summer, but changing with more sparkling and rose year roundNorwegians don't have a strong restaurant culture, so most wine is bought from monopoly and consumed at homeThe monopoly sells 96M liters of wine (10.6M 9L cases) - 53M liters red, 27M liters white, 8M liters sparkling, 5M liters roseNo other retailers of wine, not allowed to buy wine at a restaurant and take it homeFour main customer groups“Open Minded” - the largest group has a price limit but is willing to spend (KR150-200, ~$15-20), likes to try something new - often recommended by monopoly staff or a journalist“Assured Customer” - know what they want, educated in wine, clear preferences“Price Focused” - ~20% of customers; lower priced wines, convenience is essential“Collectors” - ~10% of customers, very educated in wine and food, willing to pay for qualityHigher end segment is growingPandemic got more people into wineThe average price is rising for all segmentsOrganic, biodynamic, and fair trade are important to some customersLightweight bottles, bag-in-box preferred by customers for environmental impact and practical use for bringing to summer cabins and on boatsBag-in-box popular last 15-20 years, now top categories supply it (e.g. - Chablis, Sancerre, Piedmont Nebbiolo); up to KR500-600/ 3L box ($50-60) Journalists have a large impact on salesBodega Weinert (Argentina) said 30% of sales are to Norway, and wine reviews drive salesJournalists are important because of no advertisingCollectors may follow international wine journalists, but the majority follow national or local newspaper wine writersLocal journalists use dice as a rating scale (1-6) vs. 100 point systemMonopoly has >32k products to select from, so journalists help with recommendationsMonopoly's podcast educates on drinks and food, regions and grapes, and answers consumers' questions (e.g., glassware), but doesn't mention specific producers or productsNorwegian wine trends - 7 main ones1) Known and Dear - the classics on the rise2) Expanding Wine World - emerging wine regions (e.g., UK, Canada, Scandinavia, cool climate regions, etc.)3) Alternative Packaging - bag-in-box (can be 50-60% of sales for some categories)4-6) Green and sustainable, authentic/handcrafted, organic/natural, vegan/no sugar/lower alcohol (the no-low alcohol wine trend is also in Norway)7) Young, Urban Consumer - into natural wines, skin contact whites, juicy red wines, more social eating and drinking, want genuine, handcrafted products (e.g., pet nats) Get access to library episodes See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Introduction: Welcome to Five & Thrive: a weekly podcast highlighting the Southeast's most interesting news, entrepreneurs, and information of the week, all under 5 minutes. My name is Jon Birdsong and I'm with Atlanta Ventures. Real Realestate: LinkedIn and Twitter have been laced with debates around the future of office space since the pandemic began. Predicting the market cycle for commercial real estate exceeds the current ambition on this podcast however we do have a sound data point regarding startups and early stage companies. Aly Merritt, the MD of the ATV and I chatted amongst the hustle and bustle of the Kula coffee line yesterday. As of this recording, there are over 1200 members and 300 companies. Since the pandemic, this is the first time a waitlist has re-formed at the ATV. Aly described the new work experience which I'm paraphrasing “companies are using the Village as a natural addition to their work experience. Folks may come in later or leave earlier, but there is way more foot traffic and people working on the weekends as well.” The fluidity of the ATV is always exhilarating. We have companies moving out and moving in every 30-60 days but overall the office is definitely back…but it is back on the terms of the entrepreneurs and employees. Company Coming Up: For this week's Company Coming Up, this Atlanta entrepreneur has an innovative approach to host kitchens. That's right, host kitchens not ghost kitchens. FranklinJunction is the name and Rishi Nigam is the CEO. What is a host kitchen and how does Franklin Junction leverage them? They match underutilized restaurants, called Host Kitchens, with restaurant brands looking for rapid expansion through delivery. Each restaurant benefits because it involves "capital-free revenue growth for both partners." Franklin Junction works with about 30 brands such as Nathan's Famous, Hooters, and David Chang's Fuku. These brands make their products through approximately 250 host kitchens currently in production. Now, Franklin Junction owns the revenue from each sale, and then pays everyone else a cut. They are still early but definitely a company coming up! Blog Post of the Week: Transitioning to the Blog of the Week: Ergeon's Pitch Deck Teardown. This comes from TechCrunch and we admire it for several reasons. First, Ergeon is a fence building company, headquartered out of California but they just launched in Georgia – the market is massive. The previous founder of Upwork, Jenny He is on to her next act so you know it will be good. They just raised $53M after being at it for 4 stealthy years of serious first mover advantage. If you are a student of business model disruption as well as want to know how to tell a Series B story with a top notch pitch deck, click on the link in the show notes. Product of Week: Transitioning to the Product of the Week I spoke with the CEO of Storied Collection this week. They are actually pre-launch but this is a time in the company's journey that can be the most fun to connect with founders as you will get early access to services and even help shift the product. What is Storied Collection? There are over 10,000 castles across Scotland and the UK but they are really hard to find. Storied Collection is a collection of the finest castles, chateaux, and estates wrapped around a membership model. Micheal, their co-founder showed me the castle he is staying in for the British Open next month and it is sweet. Keep an eye for their launch or just send them an email today. Event of the Week: This week I attended ATLUnlocked at the Russell Center – which is so legit – Jay Bailey and team brought the energy and connectivity. Mayor Dickens kicked it off. There were entrepreneurs showing their products, food trucks, V-103, WAOK, good beer and delcious lemon ice – just all around greatness. Next week, StartupShowdown is next week. My colleague and Atlanta Ventures Partner, Kathryn O'Day is one of the judges. Link to the event in the show notes. Raise Your Glass: Prokeep, out of New Orleans just raised $9M lead by IronSpring Ventures. Prokeep is simple messaging made for distributors between contractors. Cheers to NOLA bringing the heat! Annnnd, that's 5 minutes. Thank you for listening to Five and Thrive. We provide 5 minutes of quality information, so you can thrive in the upcoming week. The volume of cannabis capital raised in the first two weeks of 2022 has been significantly lower than in any comparable period going back to 2018. The average deal size was $7.0 million vs. $70.4 million in the same week last year. Three equity deals totaling $492M by AYR, Columbia Care, and Curaleaf skewed last year's totals. The valuation gap between the most prominent companies and everyone else continues to be a prime driver of M&A activity. Most of us know drones for their recreational uses or perhaps even as simple commercial applications for things like real estate videos. But the fact of the matter is that drone usage is about to go parabolic with huge corporations adopting them for a wide-use of applications that most never dreamed of such as: To provide Internet connections in remote locations. To collect crowd data. In short, the drone industry is booming in ways people can't imagine because the industry is shifting from the drones themselves (hardware) to drone technology and solutions (software)… and the one company that is delivering the most challenging applications is Draganfly Inc. With all of this under the Company's belt, it's easy to see why the company recently uplisted to the NASDAQ. If you believe in the massive parabolic growth in the use of drones for almost everything we do in this world, or want to learn, then watch / listen to this powerful interview with Draganfly CEO and Chairman, Cameron Chell.
In short, the drone industry is booming in ways people can't imagine because the industry is shifting from the drones themselves (hardware) to drone technology and solutions (software)… and the one company that is delivering the most challenging applications is DraganFly (DFLY: CSE) (DFLYF:OTCQB) (3U8:FSE) DraganFly is an award-winning drone manufacturer and technology developer that is actually delivering some pretty incredible achievements, milestones and even history: Established in 1998 DFLY is considered the oldest commercial drone company in the world Built the first drone that saved a life Boasts the first drone to be inducted into the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum Developing a Vaccine Drone Delivery Payload System (it's way more complicated than just transporting vaccines) Detect infectious conditions in a person from a distance of 190 feet Conduct phenotyping, data collection and analysis by the USDA Clients include: Ford Warner Brothers Suncor Energy Shell Redbull Government of Canada Ontario Provincial Police, Australian Federal Police, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Illinois State Police, Shell Dow If you want ultra-cool consider that DFLY's Vital Intelligence technology was selected for implementation by Knightscope, a leader in a leader in autonomous robot security capabilities.

I'm delighted to introduce a new series called Proptech Talk Thursday. Every Thursday, I will interview executives at a Proptech company or provide my candid reviews/thoughts. The Real Estate industry is one of the slowest to adopt technology as one of the reasons is it's extremely fragmented. However, it doesn't stop companies to try to figure out solutions for these really big problems. This week, let's take a look at Homebound. Think of them as a tech-enabled general contractor. As of January 2020, Homebound has raised a $35M Series B round totaling $53M. They claim to have developed tools to track and manage 370 unique tasks when building a home. Anyone that has done renovations, knows there are all of the components involved. This is magnified when dealing with ground up construction where there are even more complexities. They currently cover Sonoma, Napa, and Contra Costa county, Los Angeles and Ventura counties. So what are my thoughts on this company? I think they are certainly onto several fronts. The industry is extremely fragmented as it's hard enough to find good people that can be trusted time and time again. So the level of standard is very hard to come by and is even harder to scale. As they focus in certain areas, they can dominate those counties so as they go get permits/approvals, they may be able to bypass and streamline things with the city officials given the officials see them time and time again with the same processes. They may also leverage on supply discounts. Since they are basically a mini builder, they don't have the downsides of the land costs, but have the potential volume of material whether it could be lumber, concrete, and standard appliances. The thing that makes this the most interesting is that if they can truly make it seem like the process of building is easy, it would democratize the construction industry itself allowing a lot more people to feel they have the confidence to build a home. This opens up a lot of interesting and creative in-fill opportunities all around. What are the challenges? Their current model is that they play as a General Contractor and they sub out the work. A big challenge of this industry is finding reliable sub contractors in the different cities they operate. There is a big shortage of these talented individuals so hopefully they can come out with some sort of training program especially given unemployment is so high these days to train these subcontractors. Another challenge is that they are not widely known yet. The industry itself is really about referrals and those referrals are very tight knit. Top contractors and subcontractors are extremely busy so many people that they try to recruit, may not be very good subcontractors as they have plenty of work already. Technology is also not the easiest for construction workers to use. Construction workers have operated in a certain way for a very long time so for them to be trained on new tools and systems, is just not that simple. I hope you enjoyed this new series. -- Want to talk about your real estate goals? Find a time on my calendar! Looking for a real estate agent in your city? Modus Vivendi Author Diana Dentinger interviews Journeys To Success co-autor Paul Guyon. Paul Guyon is the former Chief Information Officer of a $53M international logistics firm, DSI. He teaches small business owners how to create and implement systems and technology that enables ordinary people to produce extraordinary results. Mr. Guyon’s clients have managed up to $40 million in business with a department of just five people. He invented the technology to enable a new market category that streamlines the delivery, invoicing and payment of lost bags for Delta, Northwest, American and United Airlines, saving the airlines millions of potential lost customers whose precious luggage was ‘separated’ from them. Paul’s delivery management systems saved millions of dollars for pharmaceutical giants; Pfizer, Merck and Eli Lilly. Today Mr. Guyon teaches small business owners and entrepreneurs how to grow and build their businesses with smart marketing and technology; keeping their faith and core values at the center of their growth and lives. Guyon makes his home in Traverse City, Michigan and enjoys an active, healthy lifestyle with his three sons. He has a passion for business, music, drumming, community service and his faith in God. Guyon says, “Any day I get to spend with my sons is a good day!”
