I'm not sure Amazon counts because they reduced their commissions a lot. Maxbounty is an affiliate network where there are some killer offers on it and it has been around since 2004. They also have many different ways of paying you such as... CPA (Cost Per Action) - this means you get paid if someone clicks on your link. Usually, this involves an action such as signing up to someone's email list. Revenue Sharing - This means you get a percentage of the revenue Per Sale - You can get paid for every sale you generate a company. Like "every" affiliate marketplace some offers are better than others. The bad news with this network is some offers (especially the good ones) have a daily cap on how much you can earn per offer. The reason for this is some people abuse the network and the people paying for the lead don't want to waste money. Also, MaxBounty is strict on who they allow in the network, but some of the offers that pay "a lot" of money are also strict on who they allow. You might have to do business with some of the offers that don't pay as much (earn some street cred) before the better offers will accept you. More bad news is you MUST earn at least $100 to get paid from the network. At this point, you may be wondering why EVEN bother with this network. The reason is some offers are really really good! One example of this could be Nutrisystem which will pay $200 per lead. You could earn $200 and someone doesn't EVEN have to buy something! Crazy stuff right? You got to admit that is fairly cool. There are some great opportunities with this network. Now, you don't need a website to work with MaxBounty. But having a website is a very good thing. The reason why is because you own the website. You could make videos on Youtube, Tiktok, or blog on Linkedin, but you're playing in someone else's sandbox and they make the rules. You're at their mercy. Also, with a website, you can sell it down the line if you want (It's an asset) and you can earn MORE money from ads. When it comes to MaxBonty There are many different ways to promote these offers. But I do want to talk about 1 way that I do a lot and that is through content. What I like to do is create a blog post, then take some of that post and make a Youtube video with it. The sound from the video you can turn into a podcast episode. The blog post you can repurpose to Linkedin, Quora, and Medium articles for more views. I also really like Tiktok and Youtube shorts! When you do kill the animal you can use all the different parts in creative ways. 過去十年,有許多網路行銷老師出現,然後又消失了。 那些消失的人不會有人記得他們過去的豐功偉業,而那些還留著的少數老師,例如我,個個都有值得學習的地方,但還有不值得學習的地方。 今天要與你分享不值得學習的地方。 身為網路行銷老師,我們都共同有的優點就是會根據市場需求「創造行銷方案」。 你追蹤我越久,你就會發現,我也常常都有一些優惠方案或創業方案或行銷方案,這些都是我們的創造力。 但是,在設計方案時,身為學員的你,要如何辨識哪些方案雖然看起來很吸引人,但實際上卻是明眼人一看就有高風險的呢? 最近諮詢一位學員,他說他追蹤我七八年了,上遍了各個網路行銷老師的課,唯獨沒上我的,結果幾十萬元的教訓,讓他明白了原來最好的老師一直在他身邊(也就是我)。哈哈。讓我聽了很不好意思。 因為我設計的方案通常不會很「吸引人」,但卻很「實在」。 有些大師級的老師在設計方案時,會讓人覺得不加入好像是汙辱自己的智商,但是,以下是幾個當你花費高價想衝動報名前,你應該要檢視的重點: 1.如果這個方案收費超過五萬元,甚至幾十萬,有簽約嗎? 我們這個業界不只一次出現過,學員因為太相信老師,所以衝動報名昂貴的方案後,老師卻沒有做他所承諾的事情,因而學員自認倒楣認賠。 如果有個方案是每月七萬五,年繳七十五萬。即便他提及了無風險承諾,但是,在我看來,沒有合約保障雙方權益的這種方案,出問題了誰來負責? 所有被騙的人,哪一個不是當初太相信那個老師呢?如果這個老師夠負責任,他一定跟你簽約,因為簽約不只是保障他自己,也是保障你。 2.越高報酬的方案,永遠風險越高! 這世界難道不是這樣運作嗎?所有的騙局都是打著低風險(甚至零風險),然後高報酬,不是嗎? 如果這個世界上有真正的零風險高報酬的事業,此人現在就是全球首富了!不會還在那裡跟你收學費。 如果今天這位老師跟你提了一個看起來超高報酬的方案,例如,他說他保證幫你賺回九萬學費之外,還多替你賺十萬,你要第一個質疑他的問題就是:「如果你做不到呢?能否簽約跟我保證做不到要退還我學費加上賠償我十萬?!」 如果你看到這類的方案時,老師只提好處、高報酬、零風險,請你相信他的專業,如果做不到就是身為學員你的問題,而連個合約都沒簽就要你付高額學費。 我真的不懂你是哪裡來的勇氣! 我過去諮詢過許多學員,常常他們都是把市面上的網路行銷大師的高價課程全上了一遍之後,才回來告訴我,只有我講話最實在,最沒有浮誇。 因為這是良心問題,我深信要長遠地做好事業,就是要有品格,不誇大其詞,雖然短時間也許無法吸引到一群學員來買你的課程,但最終你仍然會證明自己的價值。 我所設計的每個方案,我說到做到,而高價的方案,我絕對白紙黑字跟學員簽約,因為合約,簡單來說,就是醜話講在前頭,最壞的狀況若發生時,你們要怎麼處理,只有簽約,才是負責任的行為。 3. 不要相信終身的承諾,除非有合約保障,你也是要很小心。 「終身」(Lifetime)是一個非常吸引人的詞彙:「終身免費」、「終身保障」、「終身會員」、「終身承諾」等等。 但你仔細想想,就會發現,終身的保障遲早是無法兌現的! 如果有人承諾你,這個軟體你可以使用「終身」,他就是在說謊。 我問你,有哪款軟體你從小用到大的?沒有! 事實上,軟體的終身使用權的真正定義,是指軟體的生命週期,而非人的一生!也就是說,這款軟體的壽命,只要商家決定要關閉它,那就是它的「終身」了。 在美國幾年前,一個知名的網路行銷平台JVZOO,上面有許多最新的網路行銷產品,他們發表聲明說,不準在產品的描述上使用「終身」這詞,因為有太多網路行銷的課程或軟體,用不到一年廠商就跑了,軟體就不能用了,還哪裡來的「終身」。 在台灣,爭議最大的除了是「終身會員」之外,就是「預付型商品」,也就是說,你在付款時還沒有獲得全部的商品或服務,你只是預付,這類商品的消費爭議很多。 例如,你買補習班課程,或線上家教課程,一口氣預付了三年,得到了最大的優惠,消費者並不清楚,這時他承受的風險也達到最大。因為事業的經營都隨時有風險,一波疫情下來補習班可能倒閉、健身房也關閉,那你報名的「終身會員」或你預繳的學費怎麼辦?怎麼賠?這些都需要合約。 就連LINE Pay,他們現在如果發現你的網站有提供預付型商品,他們的審核變得異常嚴格,基本上小商家都不可能審過的。為什麼?因為預付型商品風險太大! 所有叫你預付一年以上的服務或課程,雖然你會得到優惠,但都伴隨著巨大的消費風險! 所以,台灣公平交易委員會就建議,最好的繳費方式是月繳,沒錯,就是月付。這樣對消費者最安全,你這個月用不滿意,下個月就不要續訂就好了! 生命與事業的變數太大,短短一年的時間,什麼事情都可能發生,所以我在設計方案時,現在都絕對不會超過一年,越短越好,而最棒的模式,就是不要提供預付型商品,讓消費者下單購買時,就一口氣獲得所有的服務或商品!這樣就能減少消費者的風險,還有身為商家的風險。 下一次你看到哪個老師提了一個很吸引你的方案,請你用上述三點檢視一番,問自己三個問題:他有簽約嗎?他有簽約嗎?他有簽約嗎? 其實就只有一個問題而已!不論他講得多天花亂墬,他敢跟你簽約嗎?就這麼簡單。 所以你會發現,所有的網路商店,在你加入會員時都要你同意會員條款,然後你結帳時要同意服務條款,因為這都是跟你在簽約,他們才不會害怕你毀約。 我曾經有兩次被消費者申訴,結果我回應消保官就是簡單的截圖告知他有同意我們的服務條款,而服務條款上頭寫了什麼,所以他的要求無效。我就沒事了。就這麼簡單。 所以,這次我在「超級套組」中承諾你的,就是讓你可以有機會把我這十年所有的網路行銷知識帶走,你總共能獲得我過去十年36個最棒的網路行銷課程+軟體,其中有許多價值上千元到六萬元的課程都有,但你能平均每個商品只要278元即可獲得。 而這些商品,雖然我一樣無法保證他們「終身」會存在(事實上也不可能),但我就是讓你一口氣獲得,所以這就不屬於預付型商品,所以這個方案對你我來說風險就最小。 而我希望的是,你能夠盡快去學習與消化這些知識,雖然你不見得每個商品都用得到,但是他們就像軍火庫一樣,你需要時拿來用就行了。但就像武器也會有故障的一天,你越早使用效果越好阿! 我們下次見! 董正隆 敬上 如果你想收到我的每日電子報或訊息,你有以下管道: 1. 訂閱每日電子報:https://ftt.tw/dialy 2. 造訪超人行銷:https://www.isuperman.tw/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/isuperman/message
Affiliate relationships are a powerful way to monetize your podcast. As you incorporate these deals into your show, you need to do it properly to win big and stay out of trouble. As a full disclosure, let me start by saying I am not offering financial or legal advice. This is information I've collected over the years and simply sharing with you. WHAT TO ENDORSE Only be an affiliate for products you love. You should really only endorse products you've actually used. It is illegal to say you've used a product if you have not. You can still promote it. But while promoting the product or service, you cannot imply that you have use it if you have not. If I am endorsing Wendy's french fries, I cannot tell you they are delicious if I haven't actually eaten them. I can tell you they come with a money back guarantee, are sprinkled with sea salt and are on sale. Those are facts that have nothing to do with consumption. The best way to stay out of trouble here is to be selective with your affiliate partners. Choose partners of products and services you use. This will help you be honest as you are promoting your partner. If you look at my resources page at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/jv, you will find a list of products and services I recommend. This includes everything from Hindenburg Journalist to edit your show to LeadPages to host your landing pages. The products and services on this page are things I actually use for my podcast and business. I know the quality of each. On the page, I even say, "I recommend them, because I use them and I know they have worked for me." WHERE TO FIND PARTNERS So, where do you find good partners? There are many sites that have joint venture and affiliate offerings. These include JVZoo.com, ClickBank.com, Shopify, Amazon and more. However, I don't recommend you start here. It is like trying to find a fishing boat in the ocean. The marketplace is just too big. Instead, start with the products and services you use and love. Start with 2 or 3. Visit the website of the product or service. See if they have an affiliate program. For instance, I use Host Gator to host my website. I am also an affiliate for Host Gator. If you visit HostGator.com, you will see "affiliates" in the top menu. When you click on that, you are taken to a page that says, "Partner with us and earn cash." Companies like this want you to promote them. You become part of their sales force. You can also email the product creator directly and ask if they have an affiliate program. Maybe they haven't thought about it, but would be willing to create a partnership for you. It never hurts to ask. Events like Collaborate are a great way to meet potential JV partners. You can find details on the event through my affiliate link on the website at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/collaborate. GETTING PAID Read the terms of the agreement. How long does it take to get paid? What method of payment do they use? What happens if a buyer asks for a refund? This will all be in the terms. There are many ways to get paid when you are an affiliate. You can get paid a percentage of the purchase price or a flat fee for a referral. Referral fees typically come from a coaching program or a program with various levels. You can also get paid once. This typically happens when you are an affiliate for a product. You can get paid a recurring fee. This will often happen with a membership or subscription. It is also possible to get paid on multiple levels each time someone that you've referred buys the upsell. For instance, you might be an affiliate for a $200 workshop where you earn 50% of the registration fee. So, you make $100. During the workshop, the host may make an offer for his program that sells for $1000 per year. If there is a second tier deal in place, you may also make an affiliate commission on this $1000 purchase. You will only know how the deal is structured if you read the terms. Affiliate fees are usually higher for products and things that require little time from the owner. This might be a course or physical product. Courses often come with a 50% affiliate commission. Sometimes even higher. If the program requires a lot of time from the creator, such as an event or live coaching, the affilate commission will be lower. It is typically around 20% or a flat fee. It really depends on the work required by the owner of the content. Affiliate relationships can really be stuctured in a variety of ways. There is no typical affiliate deal. It is simply an agreement designed to benefit everyone involved. DISCLOSURE There is one thing to be sure you understand. That is disclosure. The Federal Trade Commission has been active lately when it comes to enforcing disclosure statements for podcasters, brands and companies in the digital world. If digital marketers use endorsement ads to deceive consumers, they could face very steep fines. Now, you are probably saying that you would never intentionally deceive your listeners. However, you may inadvertantly make statements, or more likely forget to make statements, that could be misleading. According to a recent letter to businesses, the FTC says the blurring of the lines between authentic content and advertising has led to an explosion in deceptive endorsements across the marketplace. More than 700 companies have receive letters from the FTC indicating the companies could face significant fines if they don't follow the rules. These fines can be up to $43,792 per violation. The FTC doesn't mess around. The letters states, "FTC staff is not singling out your company or suggesting that you have engaged in deceptive or unfair conduct. We are widely distributing similar letters and the notice to large companies, top advertisers, leading retailers, top consumer product companies, and major advertising agencies." DECEPTION The letter lists a variety of practices that the FTC has determined to be unfair or deceptive. These include: falsely claiming an endorsement by a third party; misrepresenting whether an endorser is an actual, current, or recent user; using an endorsement to make deceptive performance claims; and misrepresenting that the experience of endorsers represents consumers' typical or ordinary experience. This is what we talked about earlier. You can't say something tastes great if you haven't actually tasted it. You must also make it clear that you are receiving compensation to endorse a product or service. Listeners must know you are an affiliate. Compensation doesn't always mean monetary compensation. If you are receiving anything of value, including exposure, you must disclose it. Your disclosure doesn't need to be like the end of a car ad where you mumble a whole bunch of words people can't understand. Just simply let your listeners know you have a relationship with your partner, but you promote it because you love it. To help businesses navigate the rules, the FTC has created multiple resources for business to ensure that they are following the law when using endorsements to advertise their products and services. Help With Getting Booked As A Guest and Choosing Content – Episode 195 I recently asked my tribe about the one thing they are struggling with most. This week, we are going to answer the questions and help you get over a few hurdles. AFFILIATE MARKETING One issue that is giving me trouble is the technical side of affiliate marketing. There were many times when I wanted to give up my production and your show and enthusiasm kept me going! You are such a valuable resource for podcasting, thanks for giving meaningful and worthwhile content to make my podcasts better! You're awesome! Elikqitie "E" Travel Gluten Free Podcast EKJ: I have found the key to affiliate marketing is the help you provide your audience with your content before the pitch. Pat Flynn does this best. He will provide 50 minutes of great content you can use on your show. Then, he will spend 10 minutes pitching you on a program that will help you do just that. When Pat was rolling out his affiliate training program, he spent most of his time on the podcast episode teaching his listeners where to share affiliate links. At the end of the show, he rolled out the details of the course. This style feels natural. It doesn't drip of a sales job. Pat offers great help. Then if you would like more, check out the program. If not, no problem. Listeners could use the info on sharing affiliate links without ever taking the course. As a listener, I felt I received value from the episode, even though there was a pitch at the end. A little give and take. Had the episode been nothing but what the program can do for you, people would feel like they were listening to a time share hard sell. I am sure you have heard those programs that say, "If you want the details, buy the program." This is the opposite. Help before you pitch. With regard to the technical side, make sure you are selecting products you love. Find products that use an affiliate service you understand. Pat says, "You can serve and sell." If you find many of the products or services in your niche use JVZoo or ClickBank or Amazon or Commission Junction, learn all you can about that one service. Study a few to determine which one you understand. Then, become a pro at that one. Most affiliate programs give you a unique link to the program or service. When a person clicks on the link on your site, the affiliate site tracks the visitor back to you. That is how you get credit for the sale. You simply put this link on your website. If you are using Wordpress, this would go within a post. You can add a button, graphic or URL link. The affiliate site will give you the choice. You want to find products or programs you love first. Never become an affiliate for something you haven't used or are not passionate about. Then, set up the funnel. Sign up for the affiliate program. Get your custom link. Create a blog post on your website about it. Hyperlink it with your custom link. Now, promote it. Don't make it harder than it is. GETTING BOOKED My biggest challenge is getting booked on other shows (radio and podcast) as a guest expert. What is best way to do this? Dr. Mike Lorence CEO & Founder Path For Growth EKJ: There are two ways to become a guest on a show. One is leg work. The other is an interview service. If you want to do the work on your own, you need to create the relationship first. You cannot show up on a blind date and ask to get married. You need to build familiarity and trust first. You can do this by commenting on their social media posts. You can answer questions in the comments on those posts. You might consider sending them information they might find interesting or useful. As Gary Vaynerchuk says, "Jab, jab, jab, right hook." Give, give, give and then ask. Find topics and subject matter that will interest your prospective host. What are they talking about on their show? What topics interest them? Where might there be gaps in their knowledge that you might fill? When you find these interests, send them articles and content from others first. Give them resources they can use. After you have started the conversation, work toward asking for the interview. Explain how you might help their audience with a topic within your expertise. How might you elaborate on a topic they have recently discussed or something in the news that fits their genre. When you reach out, make it easy for the guest to say yes. Demonstrate knowledge of their podcast. Mention your area of expertise. List some sample questions they might ask that you can answer. Show benefit to the host and audience. Then, direct them to some of the shows you have appeared on in the past for social proof. The biggest mistake I see people make when they are requesting to be a guest for interviews is the lack of knowledge about the podcast. I get many e-mails saying, "Hey, Erik. I would love to be an interview on your show. Here is my content." It is obvious that this person has never listened to my show, because they would realize I have never interviewed anyone. The other, much easier way is to hire a service. There are a few that do this sort of thing. It is their job to get you on podcasts. If you go this way, check their references regardless of who you select. I am not an affiliate for any of these sites. These are just sites that show up in my inbox every now and then. You can spend time or money. You might choose a bit of both to see which works best for your niche. CHOOSE YOUR CONTENT I am struggling with knowing which content to put out. - Richard Chelson EKJ: This could be taken two ways. Either you are having trouble coming up with topics, or you are having trouble deciding which topics would be desirable for your audience. Let's take each one separately. If you are having trouble finding topics to discuss, your passion may not be your passion. Gary Vaynerchuk talks about this in his book "Crush It". Gary suggests you come up with 50 blog post ideas before you start. This should take you about 10 minutes. If it takes longer, maybe your passion isn't what you think it is. You should have a topic that you can discuss for days. Don't let the curse of knowledge get in your way. You may be thinking, "Everyone knows that." Think back when you were just started. What didn't you know? What is the first thing your listener needs to know to get started? Start there with your topics. Brainstorm and let them flow. Now, if you have topics, but are not sure if your audience cares, I would first suggest you are approaching it in the wrong direction. You need to care first. If you are only looking for topics your audience enjoys, there is a good chance you could become bored. You need to be interested in order to be interesting. If you have topics that you love, but aren't sure about your audience, look for discussions around that topic. Search groups and forums for questions. What is your audience already asking elsewhere? What do people ask you? If one person has the question, there is a good chance others have it as well. Do you have a question regarding your podcast? No matter how crazy or "complicated" you try to make your productivity and time management, this is what always keeps me productive: 10 minute early morning, 40 minute morning, 40 minute early afternoon, 40 minute afternoon three day window: forget about the 100 item to-do list or 4-week plan. What's this week? degrees of doneness: no chipping away, starting, continuing. What did you finish? accountability & encryption: list out the acronyms of what you're going to do distractions: don't check your phone, email, Twitter, or the news (it will find you) Principle #1: Complete For Now / Minimum Viable Product Keep it simple. Don't fool yourself into thinking complicated is better, or 100x half finished things are better than 1 finished thing (don't replicate the mistakes) -- get the bugs out Abundance mindset: there's enough room for everybody. A rising tide lifts all boats. Continuous learning, childlike curiosity The Kid Test / The Mom Test: Can you describe what you're doing (list building, FB fan pages, Amazon FBA, etc.) to a five-year old? It's okay to spend way more time taking action than spending time thinking Principle #2: Publish 100 Actions 100 blog posts, 100 YouTube videos, 100 Kindle books, 100 podcast episodes (but COMPLETE one at a time) 100 Days: Give it at least 3 months (100 days) of consistent daily action (and make some progress every day) Make some money as fast as possible as encouragement for you to keep going Appointment based business If you don't have your own system & schedule, everyone will pull you in all directions. Don't plan it out ahead of time, but "put out" 100 things Completion (day 1 isn't when you start learning, it's when your first "thing" is published) Repetitions. Fail forward fast. Do what most people won't do. You can't learn to drive by reading the owner's manual 1000 times. Have a morning routine to get a jump on the day and do what matters before things distract you Principle #3: The Light at the End of the Tunnel Know exactly what you're building towards (i.e. 20 sales a day, 5k/month Fiverr income) Implement and experiment. Don't learn just to learn, re-teach or criticize. Focus on just one thing at a time. Improve just one variable. Principle #4: Data Scientist Track your efforts and results in a spreadsheet Marketplace Need: Create blog posts, videos, podcasts, products, courses that deliver on what people are asking for Crack the code: make all the mistakes, correct them, streamline that checklist (remove instead of add), stop doing what isn't working Track it: You're fooling yourself into think you're doing so much Principle #5: Computer Programmer Mentality break the problem down into manageable sub-problems or milestones. It's ok to admit you don't know. Find out what you need to know! Some questions have no answer, or just aren't important. Don't look for so many questions. Find "a" path to get where you need to go. Principle #6: Rough Numbers Know your rough numbers (this is how 4DT came out, number of help desk tickets answered, clicks from emails, webinar attendees) Embrace the Chaos: you need some degree of "messiness" in your business. An EU ruling has ordered that people should have the right to be forgotten and have unwanted search listings about them which are deemed to be irrelevant or outdated to be removed from the SERPs. This opens a can of worms because it raises lots of concerns about fraudulent requests, freedom of information, the logistics of how Google will decide which requests to accept or reject and some other issues too, this is a big story will be covered by mainstream media so I'm sure you'll be seeing more on this as things develop. Google rolled out their Panda 4.0 update last week, so there has been another shake up in the SERPs. Rumour has it that this is the update that Matt Cutts described as being softer and gentler and will help small businesses to still be able to compete in Google's organic results. Bing ads have updated their performance trends graph to give an instant snapshot of how your ads a performing over different time periods. In Facebook news, The new Facebook Pages redesign is rolling out more widely now, I logged into my fan page the other day and I liked what I saw. Their new one column layout is much easier to look at in my opinion. They have been rolling this out slowly this last month but all pages will start to be eligible for this new page layout soon. Facebook have also announced that automated status updates or statuses coming from 3rd party apps will get less visibility in the news feed. They say that tests have shown these types of post get less engagement and they will be responding by giving them less weight in the news feed. Good news for restaurant owners, if you have a restaurant and facebook fan page, you can now upload a pdf of your menu and it will show as a tab on your facebook page. In Facebook ads news, premium video ads have now gone international, as I mentioned in previous episodes these were being rolled out in the USA but they will now start be available in the UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany and Japan. However Facebook are still being selective over who can use these ads, they don't want this new ad type to be ruined by poor quality ads so this will only be available to a limited number of advertisers. Pinterest have announced that business insights are coming so that brands can gauge which of their pins and boards are getting the most engagements, they will initially be providing this information by opening up it's api so that 3rd party social media analytics tools will be able to tap and report back that data. Pinterest have also announced their board widget for websites, you can paste the board into your website and people can see your latest pins and follow your boards all from your website. Yahoo have announced they will be soon to release their own video sharing platform set to try and compete with YouTube, a big task indeed, but one carrot they will be using to lure content creators over to their platform will be far great revenue sharing, we'll see what happens. Mozilla firefox may soon be rolling out sponsored content in the near future, suggesting web pages or content that may be of interest based on a person's browsing history. For us advertisers this may be a nice new shiny place to run ads, keep an eye out for that. JV zoo have been very busy releasing lots of new updates including split tests for different variations of your sales pages, custom HTML can now be added to receipt pages and prefilled order forms to make the checkout process go quicker. If someone has bought a product from JVzoo previously, they will be cookied then the next time they buy something their details will auto populate. They also worked out a deal with paypal so that subscriptions can last longer and the order value can increase. There used to be a limit of 3 years or $3,600 whichever came first but that limitation has now been increased to 10 years or $10,000 whichever comes first. Infusionsoft have announced some new updates including better website analytics, increased email sending speeds, a faster,speedier experience within the infusionsoft back office and all aspects of infusionsoft will now work on google chrome. they also have released 3 new widgets inside the infusionsoft back office. The contacts, email and sales widgets will give you a quick snapshot of your accounts most recent activity. Contest domination have released a brand new page template which allows for 2 step opt-in boxes even on a mobile device, any contest domination users may want to go check that straight away. On the subject of contest domination, Travis Ketchum the founder of contest domination will be appearing on the online marketing show in the near future. Stay tuned. Leadpages have announced a new membership level, the enterprise membership level which includes live phone support and leadpages coaching with their in-house trainers. The chat widget Zopim has been acquired by zendesk, apparently there won't be many changes in the coming months except for improved zopim/zendesk integration but there may be more changes in the future. The king of the product launch Jeff Walker has recently released his new book simply titled Launch: An internet millionaires secret formula to sell almost anything online, build a business you love, and live the life of your dreams. His products are usually high ticket so this a chance to learn his product launch secrets for the price of a book. In events... Hubspot are hosting a global event called Inbound marketing week. Hi, welcome to the online marketing show, this is Joey Bushnell. And welcome to the next episode of the online marketing club mini-series. We're currently exploring my top 9 ways to drive traffic which are SEO, Search advertising, Display advertising, content marketing, organic social media traffic, social advertising, email advertising, affiliate traffic and retargeting. In this episode we will be looking at Affiliate traffic. What is Affiliate traffic? Affiliate traffic is where you set up an affiliate program which rewards people for driving traffic for you. Your affiliate program will track the traffic that your affiliates send and if the traffic they drove results in a sale for you, you share some of that sale with the affiliate. Why is Affiliate traffic good? Affiliate traffic is pretty much risk free, you only have to pay out if the affiliate makes you a sale, any traffic that does not result in a sale is not paid for by you, it's paid for by the affiliate, so much of the risk is actually on their shoulders not yours. This guaranteed ROI for you. Affiliate traffic allows you to quickly multiply your traffic, if you have 100 affiliates then you no longer have just your own email list to send to but 100 emails to tap into. It's no longer own advertising budget to use but 100 advertising budgets to use. It's not just a banner ad on your own website, it's banner ads on 100 websites. Affiliate traffic is also nice because the affiliate sending the traffic is endorsing you. If they are sending an email to their list about your product then they already have the know, like and trust factor with their list and you benefit from that endorsement, they'll be more likely to buy and with less scepticism. What's bad about Affiliate traffic? Running an affiliate program can be a little complicated and also it can be a bit of a job recruiting affiliates who will actually do any serious promotion for you. It's not like you lost out on anything but to really make it work requires some work. Who is Affiliate traffic for? Affiliate traffic is certainly not for every business type or every product. What you are selling would need to have a decent enough margin that you can give away enough of the sale to make it worth the affiliates effort but also still make good enough money for you. A natural fit is the information space or software space as the margins are typically high, however many other business types can use affiliate marketing too. How to get Affiliate traffic? First find an affiliate platform to use. I like infusionsoft as that's my CRM tool and it has an affiliate program built right into the system. In the past I've also used iDevaffiliate which is a very robust, reliable yet very affordable option to run an affiliate program. Then there's also clickbank or JVzoo, these platforms will not only help you run an affiliate program but they also have a ready made base of affiliates that you can tap into. Professional affiliate marketers who make their full time or part time living just by promoting affiliate offers are already members of clickbank and jvzoo are ready and waiting to promote the best offers to their lists. So this takes some of the work out of the recruiting process but you've got to have a proven high converting product or they won't be likely to promote. I find that customers are some your best affiliates, they've used the service and they now are your evangelists and you can pay them, reward them for telling their friends. So make sure you offer your affiliate program to your happy customers. You can also approach people by networking, going to seminars and events are a great way to form business relationships and find people who have lists or access to traffic that you would like to get in front of. Build the relationship first and then once a relationship is established, approach them with your affiliate offer and how they can make some good money from it if they will promote it. Make sure you give good support for your affiliate program. Tell affiliates all they need to know, you should have an affiliate sign up page which pitches affiliates as to why they should promote your program and how it will likely make them money. Then inside your affiliate program, when affiliates login you should provide them with everything they need to make their promotion a success, give them their links, give them banner ads to use, tested swipe copy that converts, even go as far as to give training and ideas so that newbie affiliates know exactly what to do, make your affiliates decision to promote your offer as frictionless as possible. Above all, have a killer product. Incredible products attract affiliates on their own like moths to flame. Twitter has released app-install ads which will help advertisers to promote apps so that mobile users can directly download on their mobile device. Twitter UK have also launched their real time own the moment calendar for advertisers which will help them to tie their ads with events such as seasonal events, Christmas, easter, Halloween, TV events, the season finale of game of thrones, sporting events, the world cup final, cultural events, such as international pillow fight day, business events like the The business show and even Twitter events based around the live webinar trainings that Twitter hold regularly. Facebook have declared war on like and share baiting posts. If you use the word “like” or the word “share” or “comment” then their edge rank algorithm will give you less exposure in peoples newsfeeds. Major retailers can get floods of new traffic and custom by offering the coupon code over at groupon, which can be used on their own website. This is for big brands for the time being but groupon have said they plan to expand this to small businesses later this year. After recent updates from clickbank and JVzoo, the affiliate platform Deal Guardian have raised their game too by now offering custom affiliate commissions for specific affiliates and customized, branded checkout pages. Perhaps the most popular internet marketing forum on the web, The Warrior Forum has been sold to freelancer.com for 3.2 million dollars. This will hopefully lead to improvements and innovations over at warriorforum.com, let's wait and see. Optimizepress have added a new feature called the Overlay Optimizer, it's similar to the 2-step opt-in process that leadpages and leadboxes use, Clay Collins has said that according to the data, this 2-step opt-in process increases conversions as they have made a mini commitment first and then they feel more inclined to complete the process due to that initial mini commitment. Well OptimizePress are taking this to the next level, they are adding it to their system so essentially we now have leadboxes in optimizepress but they haven't just limited this to opt-in boxes only, you can make your overlay include images, videos or custom html so there is a lot of flexibility with this new feature. They have also said that more is on the way in the near future. Google plus has added a views counter to your profile page, this may be a good social proof metric or maybe not, it depends on your number. If your numbers aren't good then you do have an option to switch this feature off. Libsyn the podcasting platform has added a bunch of new features including customised stats exports sent to you by email and new file upload options including the ability to upload directly from google drive or dropbox.
