Though Dorothy was somewhat opinionated, she truly had a big heart. During my conversation with Marc, he shares story after story that had us laughing but Dorothy was the kind of woman who liked things done her way and it was best for everyone that you kept that in mind. She loved keeping a clean house. It was duly important that her sons did well in school but what was clearly obvious was how much she loved her family. Dinners together every night was a must. Everyone had to share what happened during their day and what they had learned.Marc has a number of very funny stories of his mother but what really rings true to me is that Dorothy had a huge heart. There's one story in particular that you'll hear my guest share that's heartbreaking yet so indicative of what kind of person Dorothy was and how she was constantly teaching her two sons life lessons."Seven Days of Shiva:Forty-Six Years of Puppy Love," has put Marc on the Amazon Best Selling Author list. It's the heartwarming and heartbreaking story of he and the love of his life, Barbara. Our conversation will have you laughing and in tears, but it's powerful messages are worth every every second. My mother began to list her “commandments” for being a good husband. Number 1: As a husband, you should learn to keep your mouth shut.Number 2: Your wife should be in charge of running the household.Number 3: It's not your place to plan the dinner meals. Your wife should plan that, and you should be happy with it.Number 4: Your wife should be in charge of the checking account.Number 5: Your wife should be in charge of paying the bills.Number 6: You should not cash your paycheck on the way home. Bring your check home, uncashed.Number 7: You should turn down invitations from your friends at work to go out after work.Number 8: You should go directly home after work to your wife.Number 9: You shouldn't concern yourself with what other people have. Number 10: You should be satisfied with what you and your wife have."When my mother was finished with her list, she said, “So, you understand what I'm saying?”“Yes,” Marc responded.   Social Media Links:     Website:marcgellman.com      Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/marcgellmanauthor     Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/benjaminsgrandpa/     You Tube:     https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9d3kIi9koeaQGKKsTQupTQ     Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@marc.gellman     Book - Landing Page: https://marcgellman.com/seven-days-shiva/     Video Trailer on You Tube: https://youtu.be/0CDB5AjFVcc     Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/dp/1737522306    https://amzn.to/3HZ7cYz "Should Have Listened To My Mother" is an ongoing conversation about mothers/female role models and the roles they play in our lives. School is back in session for the gang's senior year. Joey is excited to get through this to what's next, and Pacey's just excited to be around her. That only lasts until the end of the first day, when new temporary guidance counselor Mitch -- apparently on leave from his job as general manager of the restaurant -- calls Pacey in to tell him that instead of on the True Love he should have been in town making up the three junior classes he failed in summer school. Mitch alerts Dawson that Pacey's in big trouble, and though Dawson is a bitch about it, he does hear it when Mitch suggests that he pass the news on to someone who does care if Pacey lives or dies. Speaking of whom: Joey needs a job, and Andie recommends that she apply to wait tables at the yacht club, which is full of cute rich boys and big tips...here at the end of the tourist season. Never mind: Joey takes Andie's advice and lies about connections to big wigs on the club board, getting her hired on the spot, and putting her in the path of "Owen Ross," scion of the family she claimed to know. Jen is starting to get antsy that she hasn't heard from Henry in a while, but no, his email account isn't offline: he gets in touch with Jack just fine, wussily asking HIM to tell Jen Henry wants to take a break. I wasn't sure if it would be awkward. Nope! She is a pure ray of sunshine and grounded radiance. We hit it off instantly and I now have a new goddess sister! Read Online“Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” He said this signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.” John 21:18–19On this, the third time that Jesus appeared to His disciples, Jesus enters into a threefold discourse with Peter. Each time that Jesus asks Peter if he loves Him, Peter responds that he does. And Jesus responds back each time, “Feed my lambs,” “Tend my sheep,” and “Feed my sheep.” The passage quoted above concludes Jesus' discourse with Peter using very powerful language. Jesus tells Peter that when he grows old, “someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” This was Jesus' way of saying to Peter that he would ultimately express his love of Jesus by dying for Him. As we know, tradition states that Peter was ultimately crucified. And at Peter's request, he was crucified upside down because he felt unworthy of dying in the exact same way Jesus died.As we consider this conversation between Jesus and Peter, it is clear that Jesus' understanding of love is very different from the way many others understand it today. Jesus was not only telling Peter that he would die for Jesus, but Jesus was clearly offering His approval of this act of love Peter would one day offer. Most often when we love someone, we would do all we can to keep them from any such fate. In fact, when a loved one suffers, we often will do all we can to look for a way to relieve them of that suffering. So which approach is most loving?Clearly, Jesus sees suffering differently than most of us. For Jesus, suffering is not opposed to love when the suffering is freely embraced for a higher purpose. Suffering in and of itself is of no value. But when suffering is embraced sacrificially out of love for another, it is able to take on tremendous power. And when Jesus offered His clear support to Peter who would one day die out of love for Jesus, Jesus was focusing upon the eternal merit that would be won by Peter's cross. The fact that Jesus did not shy away from Peter's future sacrificial suffering is one of the clearest signs of Jesus' more perfect love for Peter. Reflect, today, upon your attitude toward the sufferings that your loved ones endure. Do you find that your primary goal is to rid them of their sufferings? Or do you understand that even their sufferings have the potential to become a source of their own holiness and the source of grace for others? Strive to see suffering as Jesus sees it. Look at the sacrificial love that is made possible when your loved ones unite their sufferings to the Cross of Christ and try to commit yourself to the mission of helping them embrace that sacred gift of love. My most compassionate Jesus, in Your great love for us all, You desire that we unite our sufferings to Your Cross so that all suffering shares in Your redemptive love. Give me the grace I need to not only embrace my own sufferings in life out of love for You but to also help those whom I love to live sacrificially by embracing the crosses they carry out of love. Since Gale and Mitch's second marriage is, let's face it, fake, they've thrown a ceremony together in a matter of days. They're also throwing Dawson and Joey together, because Gale -- (a) an adult woman who (b) works with one of Dawson's other very close friends -- has asked Joey to be her Maid Of Honor, meaning she and Best Man Dawson keep seeing each other on various nuptial errands. Even Dawson, however, is having an increasingly difficult time pretending that Joey wouldn't rather be elsewhere, particularly once she finds out about Pacey's plan to spend the summer sailing to Key West on the True Love. She's still so oppressed by her supposedly beautiful friendship with Dawson that she won't admit what she really wants. Will Pacey's choice to paint "ASK ME TO STAY" on the wall he rented for her change her mind? Jen is still pouting so much about Henry daring to go to football camp that Grams gets sick of it, throws Jen in the car with the McPhees, and hits the road to try to run down his bus so Jen can get over herself and kiss Henry before he goes to Ohio. It's a good start, but isn't Grams's other boarder Jack also carrying a torch for someone who might want a smooch from him...? This might have been a low-key race for new sailor Pacey and the True Love, the little boat that could, if it were happening a couple of weeks earlier. Unfortunately, we're in the post-discovery era, so Dawson has to Dawson all over it. Leery's Fresh Fish is sponsoring the True Love? Fine: Dawson will just enter Joseph McPhee's boat, the Carpe Diem; THEN ask the McPhee siblings if he may use it; THEN pay the sponsorship fee himself but sail on behalf of the Potter B&B. When will he have time to learn the rules of sailing? Great question: he won't, and that's going to be a problem. In the far background, Jen has been giving Henry the silent treatment ever since he tried to fool around with her when Grams wasn't home, so he's been holding a silent vigil everywhere she goes, holding up a sign asking her to forgive him. No one is sufficiently annoyed by this behavior, least of all Jen. Show US love by listening to our episode on "Show Me Love"! JOIN THE AWT CLUB
