Todd Crowder's path into medical sales wasn't just a career choice—it was a legacy in the making. Growing up with a father who built a prolific career at Ethicon, Todd was immersed in the industry from an early age. But instead of simply following in his father's footsteps, he forged his own path, bringing a unique blend of military discipline, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial drive into the world of medical sales. In this episode, Todd shares: How his experience as a Patriot Missile Officer shaped his leadership and sales approach. The realities of working with his wife, who owns the distribution company where he's an account executive. The differences between capital equipment and disposable sales—and what every rep should know. The truth about medical sales earnings and how to build generational wealth. Why he made the bold move to a 1099 sales role—and what it takes to bet on yourself. Whether you're breaking into medical sales, exploring leadership opportunities, or considering a 1099 career shift, Todd's insights will challenge you to think bigger and take ownership of your future. Us and Punk Rock Elite Podcast put together a tribute to NOFX's Punk in Drublic album to commemorate its 30th anniversary. It's all for charity, so get it bought,In order to breakdown and dissect this musical monolith, we've recruited the beast from the North East, Mick off Tearjerker, to do just that.Listen in and be amazed at the variety on the comp, the sterling effort all bands have put in and be double amazed at the articulate way we describe the songs.Which one of us has a secret musical theatre background? Which band inadvertently gets accused of living in a dingy basement? Just what is a "laid back night venue"? The only way to find out is by giving this a spin!Musical Contributions are from: The Punk Cellist, Get The F Outta Dodge, Heligan, Tearjerker, Blagged, The Crash Mats, Loudmouth, White Trash, Two Theys and a Jock, Eat Defeat, Pat Decline, Zero Cost, Graham Aspinall, The Disposables, Hike The Peak, The Latchkey Kids, Austerity Dogs, Noah Skape, Bad Milk Blood Robot, Emilie Plamondon and Making Friends.

The Government has announced a crack down on vaping, banning disposable devices, and increasing fines for retailers by $90,000. Specialist vape retailers will also face tighter restrictions on storefront displays and requirements for staffing. Reusable vapes will remain available, but Associate Health Minister Casey Costello says the cheap disposable devices are too easy for teenagers to get their hands on. Finn Blackwell has the story.

When it comes to our finance tips, we haven't covered reusable batteries as this seems like a no-brainer; and that exactly a case; however, sometimes we need a reminder. Rechargeable batteries have been around since I was a kid in the 70's and they juiced up my remote control cars and my giant dual tape deck boom box radio. Now that we are in the 2020's we still have an insatiable need for batteries for just about anything due to the advanced technology in our daily lives. So let's run through some stats on batteries with the most common type which are Single and double A. When it comes to these rechargeable batteries they will cost more upfront; but the money that you save is far and away better than buying disposable batteries. Disposables last longer for a one-time use; however, most rechargeable batteries have at least 1,000 - 2,000 charges before they expire. The other factor is that in many states, the batteries are not recycled and therefore end up in a landfill. In fact, California considers them hazardous waste.Social Media https://www.instagram.com/somm.podcast/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChec5qcZBcGkIhUU3belNDwhttps://www.tiktok.com/@somm.podcast?lang=enhttps://www.facebook.com/somm.podcasthttps://twitter.com/Somm_podcastThe bottom line is that viable product solutions are being offered at blistering pace without sacrificing quality while improving the environment - and as always your pocketbook thanks you. There are times when an OD feels it's in the best interest of a patient to modify their contact lenses. This often involves making a change, such as changing the brand or modality. This can be a challenge with a patient who is not experiencing any problems with their habitual contact lenses. It can be even more challenging when the lenses you're prescribing will cost the patient more money than their current lenses. In this episode, Dr. Moscow shares his strategies for presenting daily disposables, handling objections, and getting the patient's “buy-in.” These strategies have led to 80% of his contact lens patients being fit with daily disposables!

Vidcast: https://youtu.be/8qyNd-Is8Ts Those wearing reusable contact lenses were nearly 4 times more likely to develop microbial keratitis, a corneal infection, in comparison to those using disposable lenses. Ophthalmologists at University College London reviewed the cases of 205 contact lens wearers. Compared with those using disposable lenses, the risk of amoeba-driven keratitis was 3.8 fold higher for those using reusable soft lenses and 4.6 fold higher for those using rigid reusables. Other factors that drove increased keratititis rates included showering or swimming wearing lenses (3.3 fold increase), overnight lens wearing (3.9 fold increase, and infrequent professional eye exams (10 fold increase). Amoebic keratitis is rare affecting only 1 in every 20,000 contact lens wearers. Even so, it accounts for about 50% of eyesight loss, and 25% of those infected require corneal transplants to restore vision. The sad fact: about 90% of these cases are avoidable. https://www.aaojournal.org/article/S0161-6420(22)00594-2/fulltext #keratitis #contactlenses #reusables #disposables #blindness

Get Hired in Medical Sales: Showing you the step by step process to land a high paying sales job.
Steele Lightfoot is our guest today and he shares about his 10 plus years in medical sales. For choosing a career path he says make sure you know yourself and what type of medical specialty would be the best fit. Just because you see a job posted with a big-name company make sure you really want to do that particular job. Talk to the reps doing the job and more than that ask to meet with them to understand what they do day-to-day. I recommend Strength Finder by Gallop or the DISC communication style test, to get to know which type of sales is the best fit for you. From the 1st of June 2022 the Scottish government is banning single use plastic cutlery, plates, straws, stirrers, balloon sticks as well as polystyrene cups and food containers. If you need a plastic straw to eat or drink independently or for medical purposes then you'll need to go the chemist to get one. But this is about more than plastics, we need to radically rethinking our throwaway society. Church Of Non-disposables (1 Corinthians 13:8-13)
Today we're going to have a lively debate: what is the best diaper for elimination communication? Are disposable diapers okay for elimination communication, or should they be avoided at all costs? Do you have to commit to cloth diapers to make elimination communication successful? (OMG major overwhelm!) Do compostable diapers even work? (Or do they fall apart right when the pee hits them?!) I'm going to unveil the mystery of “which diaper to use for elimination communication” (or infant potty training) right now. Keep in mind: With elimination communication, diapers are used as a “back-up,” not a full-time toilet We are only using diapers for 12-18 months with elimination communication, versus 3-4 years if you're doing conventional toilet training. With that in mind, let's go through the pros and cons and, at the end of today's show, I'll make my recommendation! Did you miss us? We enjoyed our break but we missed you guys. In the episode we talk about our recent announcement about the Pathway to Recovery. --------------------------------This episode is sponsored by Modibodi. Modibodi is absorbent underwear that was founded to help people to better manage their periods and incontinence without the need for disposable pads, tampons or liners. It's a more comfortable, dignified solution that is better for our bodies and better for the environment. The new way to period.-Did you know the average person uses 11,000 menstrual disposable products in their lifetime? -Disposables often contain plastics and can take 500-800 years to breakdown in landfill, longer when they end up in the ocean. -It's estimated that over 100 billion menstrual disposables end up in landfill annually -Single use products are not only bad for our planet because they end up in landfill or flushed down our waterways polluting our oceans, but the production process - energy, raw materials, carbon emissions - is detrimental as well. After giving birth to her second child, Kristy (the CEO and founder off Modibodi) began to experience bladder leaks, then when her periods returned she realised that the solutions available to her were limited, costly, uncomfortable, not to mention bad for the planet. So, she took matters into her own hands and at her kitchen table began designing, testing and patenting Australia's first period and leak-proof undies, Modibodi. Their purpose is to create limitless positive impact on people and our planet. Beyond selling leak-proof apparel that empower people's lives, they are committed to being sustainable in all we do, helping to end period poverty and supporting health education programs that normalise and open up conversations around our bodies and leaks. To date, they have already donated 25,000 pairs of underwear to women in times of crisis and women in need. They believe the ‘purpose or why' behind a brand absolutely matters, it can act as a guide to each business decision, and ensure you stay focused on your customers first and foremost.Head to their website to get an exclusive offer of 15% off your order using "WORST15" at the checkout. - excluding sale items, gift cards, bundles, maxi-24hrs--------------------------------Thanks for listening to the podcast. The trickle-down effect that COVID-19 has had on restaurants has been astronomical. From to-go programs becoming the new front line of restaurants causing disposables to go through roof; to sustainability desires; inventory needs, and more; the world of paper and packaging is at the top of every operator’s radar. And if it’s not, you’re missing the mark. We know that delivery and to-go isn’t going to die down any time soon, and we know that the need for sterile gloves and items of the like are here to stay. So in a world where everyone has the same ultimate game plan, how can you stay a step ahead of the game and make sure you’re playing your cards right? RSI New Business Development Strategist, Dave Downs, sits down with Director of Partnerships, Max Strycker; Purchasing Analyst, Catherine Reeves; and Drew Frank, Sales Manager at Western Paper, to discuss the current landscape and the future outlook on the world of purchasing in the eyes of a restaurant operator.

Debbi Mack interviews crime writer David Putnam on the Crime Cafe podcast. Check out the show notes below, or if you're in a rush, download a copy! 00:13 Debbi: Hi, everyone. This is the Crime Cafe, your podcasting source of great crime, suspense and thriller writing. I'm your host, Debbi Mack. Before I bring on my guest, I'll just remind you that the Crime Cafe has two e-books for sale; the nine-book box set and the short story anthology. You can find the buy links for both on my website, www[dot]debbimack[dot]com under the “Crime Cafe” link. You can also get a free copy of either book if you become a Patreon supporter. You'll get that and much more if you support the podcast on Patreon, along with our eternal gratitude for doing so. Debbi: [00:01:03] Today we have an author with an extensive and impressive background in law enforcement. He's worked in narcotics with the FBI on violent crimes. He's worked on a SWAT team. He was with the U.S. Marshalls. He was co-sworn in as a U.S. Marshall, among other things. And, according to his bio, was a member of the real life Hawaii Five-O, which I found very interesting. In any case, it's pretty clear where this author gets his material. Today's guest is bestselling author David Putnam. Hi, David. It's great to have my show today. David: [00:01:48] Thank you for having me. Debbi: [00:01:49] Oh, it's my pleasure. Thank you. Tell us about your protagonist, Bruno Johnson, and what prompted you to write about that character? What prompted you to create that particular kind of character? David: [00:02:03] Well, that's kind of a long explanation. I've been writing since like 1989. And I was constantly writing. I'd written 38 manuscripts when I finally sold my 34th manuscript, and I was trying everything. I tried police procedural, mystery, young adult, sci-fi. And I had four agents. I had a 156 rejections when I quit counting. And Bruno Johnson was just another one of those attempts to try to find a market for my writing. And Bruno Johnson, he is an ex-cop, ex-con who rescues children from toxic homes in South Central Los Angeles. He couldn't do it when he was a cop because there's too many rules and regulations. So now he goes outside the law to rescue the children. I chose Bruno and made him an African-American, because it adds an extra layer of conflict. When I was working for the sheriff's department, I left the jail after six months and went to work patrol in South Central Los Angeles. I went out with two African-American deputies and one was a good friend of mine. I got to see firsthand the added layer of conflict that he had to deal with. I thought that would work well in my books. So that's why I chose to do it that way. "When I was working for the sheriff's department, I left the jail after six months and went to work patrol in South Central Los Angeles. I went out with two African-American deputies and one was a good friend of mine. I got to see firsthand the added layer of conflict that he had to deal with. I thought that would work well in my books." Debbi: [00:03:25] That's very interesting, yeah. I'm reading your first in the series, The Disposables, and Michael Connelly called it "raw, powerful and eloquent", which I have to agree with. David: [00:03:39] Thank you. Debbi: [00:03:41] Did you have direct experience with seeing children in abuse situations? David: [00:03:47] Oh, yes. You know. Readers read for the emotion. That's what they're in the game for, they read for the emotion. And conflict is emotion. So I thought that I would also write about something that was most emotional to me, and the most difficult part of law enforcement was dealing with children who were abused, because they had no advocate except for law enforcement or social services. Debbi: [00:04:15] Yes. And social services can often be . . . David: [00:04:21] Overwhelmed. Debbi: [00:04:21] Overwhelmed, yes.
On this week’s episode we speak with Alec Mills, co-founder of the world’s first reusable tampon applicator and biodegradable, chemical-free tampons. 100 billion period products are thrown away every year. Most contain plastic but cannot be reused or recycled. Instead they break into tiny pieces and enter our food chain. Most tampons also contain synthetics treated with chemicals and cotton sprayed with pesticides. Women use 12,000 tampons in a lifetime and the vagina is highly absorbent. You do the maths!Women have been menstruating since time began, yet the industry uses the language of discretion. DAME thinks it’s time to bring periods into the 21st Century and ensure young girls become confident women.
