In March 2022, the senior pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God - Jesus House Parish, Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, resigned from his position at a church in Washington D.C., to ascend a traditional throne as Soun of Ogbomoso kingdom of Oyo state, in south-west Nigeria. His decision sent shock waves in the community as the role is considered part of traditional African spirituality - something an evangelical pastor is not expected to be linked with. But Ghandi insists that the same God who called him as a young man to become a pastor has called him now to become a king. Since ascending the throne, he has been drawn into a legal process by some of his cousins, who argue the throne is not for a pastor. There's also pressure from local traditionalists, who are asking that the new king converts from Christianity to their traditional African religion. This episode of The Documentary, comes to you from Heart and Soul, exploring personal approaches to spirituality from around the world.

Billy Smolinski was a 31 year old man living and working in Waterbury, Connecticut when he inexplicably went missing on August 24, 2004 after returning from a trip he took with his 46 year old girlfriend Madeline Gleason...a trip where he discovered she was having an affair with a married man. That married man turned out to be a Connecticut politician. Because Billy told a neighbor he was going on a road trip for three days and asked that neighbor to look after his dog, police refused to take Billy's missing persons report until those three days passed, hindering the investigation from the start. Today, almost 21 years later, there has been no sign of Billy and his family is still searching. What happened to Billy Smolinksi? On 12 May, 59 Afrikaners arrived in Washington to receive “refugee” status. At a press conference, President Trump said he had acted because Afrikaners - the white minority community that ruled South Africa during apartheid - face an existential threat. His words echoed the views of his South African born former adviser, Elon Musk, who has repeatedly used his X platform to amplify false claims of a “white genocide”. Many South Africans, including several Afrikaners that we have spoken to, dismiss the idea that they are under attack as wild misinformation. So where does the idea that white South Africans are being uniquely targeted come from? And what impact is it having on the diplomatic relationship between the White House and Pretoria? This episode of The Documentary, comes to you from BBC Trending in-depth reporting on the world of social media.

The upcoming Peacock documentary, "Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy," delves into serious allegations against music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs. One of the most disturbing claims comes from Ashley Parham, who alleges that in 2018, Combs assaulted her with a TV remote control after she suggested his involvement in Tupac Shakur's death. Parham's lawsuit, seeking $50 million in damages, details the assault and subsequent threats to ensure her silence. Combs, currently awaiting trial on related charges, denies these allegations, labeling them as unfounded. The documentary also features testimonies from former associates who describe a pattern of predatory behavior. Allegations include hosting coercive sex parties, engaging in sexual activities with underage girls, and using his influence to exploit women. Former employees recount being coerced into luring women for Combs and witnessing disturbing incidents. Combs' legal team has dismissed these claims as false and defamatory, criticizing the documentary for promoting baseless conspiracy theories.(commercial at 10:34)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:'Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy' doc's biggest claims

As I tell Gabrielle in the following interview, when a new Gabrielle Brady film emerges into the world, it is like the arrival of a gift, one that pulls us into a mindset of considering the lives of others, including those of the crabs of Christmas Island, or maybe the horses of the Gobi Desert. It's one that encourages us to see the world of truth differently. That notion of truth is something I've asked filmmakers a lot lately, and I'm conscious of its almost accusatory nature, as if documentary filmmaking must adhere to one True Reality. But it's impossible. The truth can never be captured on screen, and truth is in itself a falsity. After all, as soon as you put a camera on an event, or slice it with an editing suite, or apply a score to it, you are skewing reality away from the truth. Documentary storytelling is, by its own creation, not the truth. Yet, the emotions that we're left with and the memories that linger in our mind after the film has long played out, become a source of truth. Yet, as I slip into this spiral a little further, it's clear that co-authored filmmaking like that of Gabrielle Brady's exists to explore versions of the truth, to bring stories of subjects and collaborators to life, and to enrich our collective world. These notions are underpinned by Gabrielle's choice to study at the prestigious La Escuela Internacional de Cine in Cuba, a place which fosters the notion to 'defend the rights to ones own image' and to 'liberate the viewer's gaze'. These are ideas that I ask Gabrielle about in the following interview, which gives way to an open conversation about her creative process, and what it means to be able to work alongside people like Poh Lin, Davaa and Zaya, and Michael Latham, on her films. This interview was recorded ahead of Wolves' screenings at the Sydney Film Festival on 10 and 12 June. This is a film I urge audiences to see in a cinema, let it overwhelm your senses. Let it change you. If you're interested in reading about how the film changed me, then you can read my review here. Netflix's documentary on the Travis Scott Astroworld tragedy is a must watch according to Ramiro.
“Is this going to be a raw, behind-the-scenes exposé—or just a puff piece?” That's the burning question as Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray dive headfirst into Netflix's bombshell announcement: a 10-part documentary titled America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys, premiering August 19.In this episode of The Ben and Skin Show, the crew breaks down everything we know—and everything we're skeptical about—regarding the upcoming Cowboys doc. From Jerry Jones' Arkansas roots to the dynasty years with the Triplets and Deion Sanders, this series promises to cover it all… but how deep will it really go?The gang speculates on the doc's tone, its potential to rewrite Cowboys history, and whether the Netflix cameras following the team in 2023 were meant to capture a triumphant ending—or a frustrating collapse. Spoiler: it's the latter.Plus, a surprise Tony Hawk sighting in Anna, Texas sparks a hilarious debate: “Name another pro skater.” “Franz.”

Scared marketing doesn't stand out. Bold stories do. And no one knows that better than the team behind Animal, a new documentary that challenges everything you think you know about meat, health, and what drives people to change. In this episode, we're pulling lessons from the film's launch with the help of our special guest, Kevin Carter, Producer at H20 Studios.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can steal from the big screen on how to activate communities, take smart creative risks, and stop playing it safe when the goal is to stand out.About our guest, Kevin CarterKevin Carter is an experienced marketing and production executive with a track record of driving significant revenue and audience growth. Currently a Producer at H20 Studios in Los Angeles, he oversees productions, strategically optimizing budgets to achieve substantial savings while delivering high-impact content reaching millions of viewers. Previously, in Global Marketing Strategy at Lionsgate, Kevin spearheaded marketing campaigns for over 117 film and television releases, generating upwards of $100 million in revenue. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Kevin's documentary, Animal:Build evangelists, not just audiences. A film doesn't go viral because it's seen. It goes viral because people can't stop talking about it. That's how Kevin sees it. He says, “The best way is when you really create an army of people that just talk about your film without you doing anything.” For B2B marketers, that means stop chasing impressions and start sparking conversations. If your product solves a real problem, give your users the language, the emotion, and the why. They won't just use it, they'll share it.Give your team space to strike out. You can't hit home runs if you're too scared to swing. Kevin urges leaders to embrace failure in the name of breakthrough: “You have to allow your executives to have three strikeouts before a win… try some crazy things that might cause some virality.” In B2B, too many marketers are stuck playing defense. But virality, innovation, and true brand momentum come from cultures that reward experimentation, not just execution. If you want word of mouth, you have to make room for risk.Challenge the spreadsheet. When executives default to templates, creativity gets sidelined. Kevin puts it bluntly: “Do I use this templated spend calculator… or do I take a chance and try something new to break through all the noise?” Most choose safety and the result is scared content that no one talks about. In B2B, the same trap shows up in recycled campaigns and rinse-repeat strategies. But breakthrough growth doesn't come from playing it safe. It comes from marketers brave enough to break the mold. Because what limits risk often limits reach.Quotes*“The best way is when you really create an army of people that just talk about your film without you doing anything. Every one person that you market to that loves it and then tells three other people. There's so much value to that. And then you expand that out to thousands of people, and they're all sharing with other people. That is the winning formula, really.”*“You finally get that EVP role… you're just loving life, and then you have two options. Do I use this templated spend calculator that we use on films, that's probably solid… limits our downside risk? Or do I take a chance and try something new and fresh, and try to break through all the noise out there, but the downside risk is a bit higher? Most of the time, they pick the latter... I think you get stuck in. Just making scared content all the time versus making like the best content.”*“For Animal, there's been no templated spend at all, we are just doing a totally bespoke campaign. If we do another film after this, it won't be the same either. You have to look at each project and ask, what are our strengths? What are our weaknesses?... And then lean into your strengths and hopefully that carries you to the promised land.”Time Stamps[00:55] Meet Kevin Carter, Producer at H20 Studios[01:00] Breaking Down Kevin's Documentary, Animal[07:52] Marketing Strategies For Film and TV[14:51] Challenges and Risks in Movie Marketing[21:25] Rethinking Your Target Audience[27:14] Innovative Marketing Techniques For Film and TV[33:40] Creating the Documentary, Animal[35:26] Marketing Animal[40:02 Final Thoughts & TakeawaysLinksConnect with Kevin on LinkedInCheck out AnimalAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Susie and Sarah are headed to a baseball game, but first Susie needs to explain the importance of safety and the precariousness of Buc Fever after a man recently fell at a game. We disuss the P Diddy sketch artist who appears to have the same talent as the recent caricaturist Sarah had, and why Sarah thinks he doesn't know how to draw people of color. We talk about the Pee Wee Herman documentary, how he came to resent the character he created, and how creativity can be a burden. Susie describes the Nathan Fielder docu-comedy series, The Rehearsal, and the way pilots could be saved through a small change in training and how the comedian is trying to save lives through updates to aviation.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Get 25% off your first month of Ritual when you visit https://ritual.com/BRAINCANDY and add Essential Protein today.New customers can get the Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara and a mini-sized Brilliant Eye Brightener at a special set price with free shipping at https://thrivecausemetics.com/BRAINCANDYSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Tucked deep in the woods of northern Georgia, the stone ruins of Corpsewood Manor still whisper secrets—of ambition, isolation, and brutality. In this week's Uncovered episode, host and former law enforcement officer Brian peels back the layers of one of the South's most chilling and misunderstood double homicides. This isn't just a story about murder. It's about fear. Judgment. And the fatal consequences of standing out in a place that demands conformity.
In the summer of 1934, the coastal city of Yingkou in Liaoning Province, China, became the stage for an event that would captivate imaginations and spark debates for decades. Amidst a backdrop of relentless rain and oppressive heat, locals reported sightings of a creature straight out of myth—a dragon. Not a metaphor or a symbol, but a flesh-and-blood being that fell from the sky, writhed in agony before its death, and left behind a skeletal mystery that drew crowds from across the region. Was it a genuine encounter with a mythical beast, a misidentified animal, or a case of mass hysteria amplified by cultural reverence for dragons? Join Gary and GoldieAnn as they take flight Within the Mists of China to uncover the truth behind the Yingkou Dragon.Music:Awake by @SappheirosSources:•Shengjing Times, July 28, 1934, and August 12–14, 1934. Combs' legal team has dismissed these claims as false and defamatory, criticizing the documentary for promoting baseless conspiracy theories.(commercial at 10:34)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:'Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy' doc's biggest claimsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.
Hats off to people who follow their dreams (or weird fetish) and get things done!Documentary and indie filmmaker, and Pennsylvania horror folklorist, Ryan Cavalline joins us to discuss "The Exorcism Prayer" and other ghoulish horror entrails. Ryan has written, produced, and directed over 20 films. Ryan talks about how The Exorcism Prayer was his most unnerving production, the dark residue of the film that sent him to the hospital and followed him into post-production, and the deal with the devil he made to leave it behind. Now if I can just convince him to make a documentary on Ouija boards! The Exorcism PrayerThe belief in spirit possession has remained virtually unchanged since the beginning of civilization and still exists to this day. The Exorcism Prayer dives into the religious practice of evicting demons from a person or an area.TrailerLegend Hunter Films (Facebook)Legend Hunter Films (official website)Ryan Cavalline (IMDB)$10 Afraid of Nothing merch - and more - at the Afraid of Nothing Shopify store. Hello to you listening in Warsaw, Poland!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I am deeply proud of my Polish heritage and being a lawyer. These times are tough on us all; but especially on judges, the last line of freedom's defense. Attacks on the independence of the judiciary are not just here in America; they are sweeping the globe taking varied forms ranging from the capture of courts to direct attacks and interference against judges and lawyers. Those behind the attacks know that the independence of judges - the judicial branch of government - is foundational to democracy.“Judicial independence is fundamental to the rule of law. The rule of law is fundamental to freedom. Freedom is fundamental to the protection of every citizen.” [John Macmenamin - Judge at the Supreme Court of IrelandThese are not my words. These are the words of John Macmenamin, a judge at the Supreme Court of Ireland who joined with Polish judges at the “1000 Robes March”, a unique event held in the name of judicial independence. It was the greatest demonstration of judges in contemporary Europe, with more than 30,000 people, including hundreds of judges from 22 European countries marching in solidarity with their Polish colleagues in the fight for judicial independence. The silent march in January 2020 was a reaction to proposed laws that threatened to undermine the judiciary's independence in Poland. "A Thousand Robes" is a short (12 minute) documentary film directed by Kacper Lisowski. The story is about mutual gratitude, focusing on the positive interactions between judges, lawyers, and the public. It highlights citizens who are moved by the judges' defense of their rights and lawyers who have experienced solidarity from ordinary people and European judges. The film serves as a warning against what dismantling the democratic mechanisms of the state leads to.Documenting this touching episode of the dramatic struggle for the rule of law that still lacks a happy ending in Poland, Kacper Lisowski also talks to the European judges participating in the march of a thousand robes. Particularly poignant is the voice of a Turkish judge who knows from experience what happens when such a struggle is lost.Click HERE to watch A Thousand Robes the film on YouTube.Maybe like me you will be moved to tears at what ordinary people can accomplish when they heed a call to action. This week, in Chester, Pennsylvania, a young woman, who happens to be a college athlete, disappears into the night, after leaving a bar. Her car is found, by the side of the road, door open & radio on, but her terribly brutalized body isn't found until the next day, with strange burns & other awful outcomes. After clearing a very guilty looking suspect, another, even guiltier looking man is found. His past makes it obvious that he's capable of such horrors. What he tells a cellmate is incredibly cold. Will it be enough to convict?? Along the way, we find out that you shouldn't build on ancient Indian burial grounds, that "no body" doesn't equal "no grand jury indictment", and that you shouldn't give the mother of one of your victims a double middle finger, while in court!!
