Chris DeRosa, co-host of the Fixing Famous People podcast, joins Kate to break down Netflix's wildly addictive reality series The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, the dating experiment that asks couples on the brink of marriage to separate, date other people, and enter "trial marriages" before deciding whether to get engaged or walk away for good. Kate and Chris unpack the season's biggest twists, the couples they rooted for (and questioned), the franchise's first-ever expulsion over a secret note, and why this social experiment continues to be one of Netflix's most fascinating and chaotic relationship shows. Big entertainment and cultural headlines drove the conversation on this episode of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast. The crew discussed the announcement that Snoop Dogg’s long-awaited biopic, Snoop, is set to hit theaters on August 6, 2027, with Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss portraying the rap icon. They also celebrated Ms. Cathy Hughes, founder of Urban One, who joined the show after receiving the Key to the City of Washington, D.C., one of the city’s highest honors. During the interview, Hughes reflected on building Urban One from a single radio station into the nation’s largest Black-owned multimedia company and shared her commitment to amplifying Black voices and telling the community’s stories from its own perspective. The show also unpacked the latest developments in two high-profile legal stories. NBA star Anthony Edwards reportedly reached a resolution in his child support case in Georgia, with a judge setting monthly support payments following a lengthy court battle over jurisdiction and custody matters. Meanwhile, the legal fight surrounding Wendy Williams’ documentary has officially come to an end after her guardian and A&E reached a settlement, though Williams continues her efforts to regain control over her personal affairs and end her guardianship. Alongside these headline-making topics, the show delivered its usual mix of laughs, wellness advice, celebrity news, and inspiration, making for another engaging morning with the RSMS crew. In Belarus, new legislation from the government of President Alexander Lukashenko targets anyone who might be regarded as an opponent with charges of being ‘extremist'. Dozens of independent media outlets have recently been designated as ‘extremist organisations' in the country, as the government cracks down on dissent. But the Belarus government isn't only targeting media outlets. It's taking aim at a wide variety of groups and organisations, including a well-respected Belarus university, the European Humanities University, which since 2005 has been based in the apparent safety of Lithuania. But recently, students, staff and their families have begun to be visited by Belarus's security service, the KGB. BBC Russian's Alina Isachenka has been investigating. The custom of men being married to more than one person at the same time, known as polygamy, is practiced in many parts of the world, particularly across the African continent. It's traditionally rooted in cultural, social, and economic values across various tribes in different regions, such as the Zulu in South Africa, a country where polygamous marriage is legally recognised. Now, a new hit Zulu language TV series, The Polygamist, has got people discussing the topic. BBC Africa reporter Khanisile Nkobho has been following the issue. This episode of The Documentary comes to you from The Fifth Floor, the show at the heart of global storytelling, with BBC journalists from all around the world. Presented by Faranak Amidi. Produced by Laura Thomas, Caroline Ferguson and Hannah Dean. (Photo: Faranak Amidi. Credit: Tricia Yourkevich.)

In the 1970s, Tony Powell was a star defender for Norwich City. Then he vanished. Decades later, filmmakers Ramiel Petros and Nicholas Freeman found him living as the manager and sole resident of a fading West Hollywood motel, a gay man who walked away from everything at the height of his career rather than live a lie. Petros and Freeman join H. Argentina is back in the World Cup final, the MLB's All-Star competitions had some hiccups, and everyone online is auditioning for their Netflix documentary debut. Resource of the Week: The Conversation Starter - Where'd All the Tweens Go? In Other News: A parasite that causes extreme digestive upset is maybe the meme of the week (alongside Netflix documentaries). It certainly doesn't help that it's possibly connected to Taco Bell. Christopher Nolan's film The Odyssey is out in theaters this weekend. We'll write more about it next week, but for now, the R-rated take on Homer's epic poem is reviewing quite well with critics and audiences. Letterboxd has opened itself (paywall) to being purchased. It's Gen Z's movie review app of choice, and considering how Gen Z showed up to theaters this year, it's pretty valuable to buyers like Netflix and Sony to understand the preferences of young people. Meta rolled out a "feature" that effectively lets you use their AI tools to deepfake users with public accounts. It was promptly rolled back after the internet (rightly) freaked out. Assassin's Creed is back? Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced (a remake of Assassin's Creed Black Flag) sold 2 million copies in its first day.
Jordan Belfort's story got the Scorsese treatment in 2013, but The Wolf of Wall Street was only ever half the picture. On this episode of Reality Life with Kate Casey, executive producer and investigative journalist Jason Leopold unpacks Paramount+'s new documentary The Real Wolf of Wall Street, built from over 15,000 pages of previously unreleased government documents and new interviews with the people who actually lived it. Jason is a two-time Pulitzer finalist known for filing more FOIA lawsuits than nearly any journalist in the country, and breaks down who Belfort really was behind the Hollywood myth, what the documents reveal that the movie left out, and how the story of Stratton Oakmont still echoes through finance today.
