Good or bad, like it or not, it is how and what we think of Life, Reality, and Truth that complicate all the consequential forms of conflicted dysfunctional incapacities incorrectly blamed on life and human nature. It is not Life that is impossible, hard, or a struggle but imagining that our thoughts about it are omnipotent and as a result unchangeable. This addictive mental trend has the world of things and people seem in chronic need of change while we choose to inflict others with our thoughts to pretend we are not capable of causing such conflicts. This induced form of insanity once seen clearly is laughable. The only thoughts induced insanity seemingly overlook are the mistaken beliefs of their perpetrator. Acting like we're in a coma to maintain unnatural conditions does not affect our essence but causes over-dramatic mental and inter-reactive consequences. We choose how and what we think - and this news is good or bad dependent on how accurately, or honestly, our choices are conceded.  We Know We Know. We Are Aware We Are Aware. We Are as We Are. Reality is unlimited and never changes. The idea that how and what we think creates reality suggests otherwise. Acting on backward thoughts leads to behaviors that are out of order reflecting a reversal of our natural fortune. Anxious, nervous and systemic disorders reflect this impossible attempt to reverse the Law and order of the universe. Dis-ease is the lack of ease created and maintained by such twisted mental acrobatics. Stress and Anxiety inhibit healing and so contribute to any ailments. Mentality is a bodily function. Mental disease is a physcial ailment leading to others as long as it is improperly diagnosed - any treatment will perpetuate its contagion. Principles affirm our indivisible nature. Sharing principles affirms and confirms our indivisibility as our nature. Inspiration is natural while desperation, depression, degradation and acting oblivious to what is obvious is a choice. Absolute Intelligence, Peace and Silence is Nature's nature since It does not change. The nature of nature is naturally our nature. Ignoring what is happening, acting as though it shouldn't be or isn't happening, produces the unintelligible jibbersh of ignorance - not reality.

I can still remember being in high school in the early 90s and having my mind blown by seeing the video for Fishbone's "Sunless Saturday" on MTV's 120 Minutes and going to my local record store (R.I.P., Twisted Disque on Jamaica Ave) to get their album The Reality of My Surroundings, and then walking around Queens with it blasting in my headphones, mesmerized by the way they melded genres like ska, funk, punk, metal and more. Fishbone is one of the bands that showed me what was possible, as far as breaking down both genre and racial barriers in music. SO! When I learned that Fishbone were getting ready to release their first full-length album in almost 20 years, their awesome new LP Stockholm Syndrome and that they would be doing interviews, I knew I had to make it happen. It was a blast connecting with Angelo Moore, who is the only permanent member of Fishbone — the only one who has been in the band for its entire 40 year history, while others have left or joined or left and re-joined — for the conversation in episode 125. We talked about his earliest experiences with creativity — he started out pop-locking and street dancing in Hollywood before he started playing music. He wanted to get a keyboard but his dad insisted on saxophone, and thus the seeds for Fishbone were planted. Angelo talks about meeting his bandmates in eighth grade and schlepping on the bus more than two hours each way from where he lived in the Valley to band practice in South Central LA, working up to their first show at Madame Wong's and eventually scoring a major label deal that turned out to be a mixed blessing. We also delve into the ups and downs of their career, what he remembers about early encounters with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys, and what inspired Fishbone's new album, which is a true return to form — the sound of a band that has never been afraid to be completely themselves, in all of their bright, brash, political, genre-melding glory. (You might start by listening to the Stockholm Syndrome single "Racist Piece of Shit" to get a sense of the album as a whole.) One caveat: You'll notice that the audio sounds a little rough. The band had just begun a run of dates on Less Than Jake's Summer Circus tour, and when Angelo joined our Zoom, he was on the road. Literally. He called while driving himself to soundcheck for a show in Florida. So it was a little more chaotic than the usual interview, with him attempting to navigate while answering my questions. You'll also hear him stop for a pee break, mid-interview, which was hilarious. Fishbone are on the road through late August and you can get tickets here.

“So what is a drug?” says scholar-essayist Justin Smith-Ruiu in this week's episode of The World in Time. “It's a dry good that is transported and then sold in a particular measurable unit, and until you have those units of measurement and standardization for the purposes of commercial exchange, you don't really have drugs. Of course, you have ayahuasca and fly agaric and whatever else, and you have people, at least going back to the Paleolithic, consuming these. But you don't have the system of commodities that makes drugs a particularly modern phenomenon. In fact, we even discuss how stories are being intentionally ignored. Then we dive into several topics, including how the Left continues to rage over the One Big Beautiful Bill, Gov. Newsom (D-CA) wants multi-family affordable housing to replace homes lost in the Palisades fires. John Brennan really does belong in prison. But, we may have to settle with letting the truth be his legacy. I do give you a little Friday fun and entertainment by a song written by a guy about the Epstein List. I said I wasn't going to bring it up again for a bit, but I never said I wouldn't let someone else comment. We do talk a bit about man-made climate change and reveal a CNN poll that shows the fear porn industry around it is slipping. These hoaxers can only cry wolf for so long before people start ignoring them. President Trump urges all Republicans to vote for the latest recission bill, which will defund NPR and PBS. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has already done that at the state level. Finally, we close with a comment from a legal Iranian immigrant who was confronted for wearing a Trump t-shirt. He was properly schooled.
