Jim Hill and Dan Graney dig into a wild week of Marvel speculation, from murky Avengers: Doomsday leak drama to Sony's carefully controlled Spider-Man: Brand New Day rollout. They also spotlight the Muppets' latest Marvel crossover before Dan unveils a Doctor Doom theory that may reframe Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU return entirely. Plus, brisket, burnt ends, Muppet Treasure Island covers, and one very big question: what if Tony Stark was never the rule, but the exception? HIGHLIGHTS • Jim and Dan break down the blurry Avengers: Doomsday footage leak and the debate over whether it was real, AI-enhanced, or both. • Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers tease Doomsday as a structurally ambitious, emotionally complex follow-up to Infinity War and Endgame. • Spider-Man: Brand New Day ticket sales arrive with a tiny cast video instead of the trailer fans expected. • The new Brand New Day trailer points toward a Spidey-versus-Hulk showdown and a world where almost no one remembers Peter Parker. • The hosts dig into the mystery of who still remembers Peter Parker, from Savage Hulk to a possible Jean Grey connection. • Marvel's The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe celebrates The Muppet Show's 50th anniversary with Kermit, Gonzo, Deadpool, and one very mean Uncle Ben joke. • Dan lays out his big Doctor Doom theory: what if Doom is the multiversal constant and Tony Stark was the one heroic anomaly? • Jim connects the theory back to Doctor Strange's “one” winning timeline and the possibility that the MCU only ever had one good Tony Stark. Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes.Everyone's forgotten Peter Parker…or have they? Sony gave us a second full trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the interwebs are buzzing about it. We get longer looks at Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk and Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/Punisher in the film, as well as allusions to the big bad of the movie - though Tom Holland recently said on the press tour that the antagonist has not been figured out yet by fans. Films continue to top each other's openings at the box office this year, with Toy Story 5 having the current title of best opening of the year to the tune of $160 million domestically over the Father's Day weekend. This was also the all-time best opening for the 30-year-old franchise. Disclosure Day took second place this weekend, though Toy Story practically beat its global take in the states alone, and Obsession and Backrooms continue their strong streaks coming in at third and fourth respectively.Universal and Blumhouse's Atomic Monster are jumping on the Curry Barker bandwagon having acquired the young director's third film in a reported eight figure deal. While Universal has been backing Barker, both Obsession and his upcoming film Anything But Ghosts are coming from Focus Features. Blumhouse has produced those same films, but this new move puts the horror powerhouse in a stronger position for film development. To tag onto the box office talk and remind you, Obsession was made for $750,000 and has now made more than $300 million worldwide - making it a tantalizing prospect for Blumhouse.Netflix has opted not to proceed with a second season of The Boroughs, a sci-fi TV series executive produced by Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers. The series debuted its first season last month. Universal and Imagine Entertainment are developing a sequel to 2000's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, with Jim Carrey in talks to reprise his role as the classic Dr. Seuss character the Grinch and Ron Howard returning to direct. Manny Jacinto, Emily Mortimer, and Thomasin McKenzie have joined the Season 3 cast of Prime Video's Fallout in recurring roles. In a new interview with Collider, Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri revealed that Star Wars creator George Lucas was cast in a small voice part in the upcoming Minions and Monsters because Lucas is a longtime fan of the Despicable Me franchise. Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley is reteaming with Keanu Reeves for a live-action hybrid Lego movie that Cooley will direct and Reeves will star in according to Deadline. Netflix has won the rights to develop Alix E. Harrow's best selling novel The Everlasting and will enter production on a series adaptation immediately according to Variety. The Everlasting is a time loop fantasy novel and was one of the best selling books of last year.Universal Pictures has announced that the next Illumination animated film will be Not Alone, an alien movie starring Timothée Chalamet & Selena Gomez which will release in April of next year. Dylan Clark's reboot of The Blair Witch Project for Lionsgate has landed a release date of September 24, 2027.Legendary has announced that a live action Magic School Bus movie is officially in the works with Elizabeth Banks set to play Ms. Frizzle. Detective Pikachu and Goosebumps director Rob Letterman will helm the feature.

870 · 10 Reasons to Visit Shanghai Disneyland... and Why This Trip Changed MeChina is a long way to go for a theme park... but Shanghai Disneyland is not a theme park. It is a destination that happens to have a Disney castle at its center.Lou Mongello had the privilege of being invited by Disney for Shanghai Disneyland's 10th anniversary celebration, with time alongside the Imagineering team who built it. In this episode, he gives you 10 reasons to visit Shanghai Disneyland, and why right now, during its 10th anniversary, is the perfect time to go.Here is what you will hear:The one design decision that makes Shanghai unlike any Disney park you have ever set foot in, and why it disorients you in the best possible wayThe only place on Earth you can walk through Zootopia, a land so detailed that guests line up just to photograph the lamppostsWhy the tallest Disney castle in the world is something you go inside, not just photograph, plus the anniversary-only shows playing on it right nowThe trackless boat ride that fans who have been to every Disney park call their single favorite attraction, periodThe one land where Disney hands you the controls, and the climb that Lou says sends you back down a different personThe stunt show with a real, raging tornado on stage, performed more than 10,000 times with live performers inside itThe snacks worth flying for, the Cast culture built from scratch, and the brand-new Spider-Man land rising right now with its coaster track already complete!and much more! And stay with me to the end, because this is the part I did not see coming. This trip did not just give me new things to talk about. It genuinely, fundamentally changed the way I think about Disney parks, not just what I think about them, but how. I am going to explain exactly how, and why, and why it might just change the way you see them too.Whether Shanghai is already on your bucket list or you have never once considered it, this one might change your mind.

Spider-Noir may be one of the strangest Spider-Man adaptations ever made... and somehow, it works. Going into Spider-Noir, our expectations were fairly modest. A noir detective series starring a version of Spider-Man sounded interesting on paper, but we weren't sure how successfully the show would balance classic superhero action with old-school detective storytelling. After finishing the series, we were pleasantly surprised by just how much we enjoyed it. In this episode of SuperHero Homies, we give our full spoiler-filled review of Spider-Noir, discussing the story, performances, visuals, action sequences, comic book inspirations, noir influences, and why this series stands out in today's crowded superhero landscape. COLD OPEN (First 20 Minutes) Before diving into Spider-Noir, we discuss several major topics from the worlds of Marvel, comic books, and pop culture: • Breaking down the latest Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer • Our biggest Spider-Man theories and predictions • The possibility of Sadie Sink playing Jean Grey • Spider-Man: Brand New Day's massive opening day ticket pre-sale numbers • Why excitement for the next Spider-Man movie is through the roof • Spoiler-light discussion of the leaked Avengers: Doomsday footage • A guest host's experience binging the entire Daredevil saga • Thoughts on Netflix's Daredevil and Daredevil: Born Again • Why Matt Murdock remains one of Marvel's most beloved characters FULL SPOILER REVIEW After the cold open, we jump into a deep spoiler discussion of Spider-Noir. Topics include: • Ben Reilly's portrayal and character arc • The incredible black-and-white presentation • The equally impressive color version of the series • The show's noir detective atmosphere • How Spider-Noir balances crime drama and superhero storytelling • The cast and standout performances • Classic Spider-Man characters reimagined through a noir lens • Favorite episodes and moments • The show's biggest strengths and weaknesses • Inconsistent power scaling and character abilities • Plot threads that deserved more development • What a potential second season could explore One of the biggest surprises of the series is just how committed it is to the noir genre. Rather than simply placing Spider-Man in a different visual setting, Spider-Noir fully embraces detective storytelling, mystery, suspense, crime, corruption, and classic noir aesthetics while still delivering the comic book action fans expect. While we don't think the show is perfect, we absolutely loved its visual style, strong performances, unique atmosphere, and willingness to take creative risks. In an era where superhero stories can sometimes feel repetitive, Spider-Noir manages to carve out its own identity and offer something genuinely different. If you're a fan of Spider-Man, Marvel Comics, detective stories, superhero television, comic book adaptations, Daredevil, Marvel Studios, noir films, crime dramas, or pop culture discussions, this episode is for you. The Goblin King is revealed…but is it a satisfying twist? We try to untangle this show's attempt at a Goblin identity mystery – which involves sweet Harry Osborn building a weapon of mass destruction (!!!) – and whether or not it works. Ben and Rob sling their way back to 2002 and into the webbed world of Spider-Man, Sam Raimi's blockbuster that somehow managed to turn decades of comic book history, a nervous Tobey Maguire, and a maniacally committed Willem Dafoe into one of the defining superhero movies of the modern era. Along the way they untangle the long and surprisingly complicated journey that brought Marvel's most famous character to the big screen, explore the creative team that assembled around Raimi, and ask how a filmmaker best known for chainsaws, demons and severed hands ended up making one of the most sincere and influential comic book films ever released. But that's only part of the story. Away from the set, Sam and his brother Ted Raimi have spent decades filling their movies with elaborate pranks, recurring cameos and a family atmosphere that borders on organised chaos. So what exactly were the Raimis getting up to when they weren't making movies? And why does Ted seem to appear everywhere? Plus, the pair take a dive into some of the wilder theories surrounding the film. And finally, beneath all the upside-down kisses, Thanksgiving dinners and airborne pumpkin bombs, what is Spider-Man really about?CONSUUUME to find out all this and much, much more!PLUS we have a Patreon with EXCLUSIVE content just for you starting at less than £2 a month - Click the link below!Find us on your socials of choice at www.linktr.ee/everymovieeverpodcast

Career / Process You broke in around 2006, and you're now pushing close to two decades in comics. How has your approach to storytelling changed from those early years to now? You've been at this for nearly 20 years at this point. What's something you understand about comics today that you wish you knew when you started? You're writing across multiple major franchises right now. How do you shift your voice between something like Superman, Iron Man, and G.I. Joe? On top of all this, you wrote a story in Creepshow Vol. 4 #5 titled Artificial Ignorance. Was that a story you had in a drawer, or…how did that come to be? Superman / Superboy-Prime Superboy-Prime has always been a volatile character, but here he feels almost desperate to prove himself. How do you balance his edge with making him someone readers want to follow? With Manchester Black entering the picture, what excites you about putting those two characters in conflict specifically? Any Superman elements/tropes you want to touch? Iron Man You've said Tony Stark is one of your favorite characters. What's something about Tony that you feel hasn't been explored enough in past runs? Madame Masque and A.I.M. feel like they're operating at a higher level here. What makes them the right villains for this phase of the story? Universal Monsters: Blood of the Wolf Man Do you have a favorite Universal Monsters adaptation? Do you have any favorite werewolf stories? This feels like a very grounded, almost psychological take on the Wolf Man. What drew you to that angle? Is the when of this story important to the overall experience? What makes the Wolf Man a character worth revisiting right now? Rapid Fire Question Round (Stolen from Stephen Colbert so that a guest is “known”): Best sandwich? What's one thing you own that you really should throw out? Apples or oranges? What is the scariest animal? Have you ever asked someone for their autograph? What do you think happens when we die? Favorite action movie? Favorite smell? Least favorite smell? Flat or sparkling? Most used app on your phone? If you could have dinner with any three characters you've written before, who would they be and why? You get one song to listen to for the rest of your life: what is it? Depeche Describe the rest of your life in 5 words?
