Is Marvel Comics getting a clue? Probably not, but they're going back to the middle aged male well with their first swimsuit issue since the mid 1990s. Now, fix Spider-Man and the X-Men and we'll talk.
In today's Daily Fix:After a couple weeks of internal deliberation, Nintendo has finally announced when customers in the United States can preorder the highly anticipated Switch 2: April 24. Pricing for the a la carte console and the bundle with Mario Kart World will not change, but prices for various accessories like extra Joy-Con, a Switch 2 Dock, and the new Pro Controller all got bumps between $5 and $10. In related news, the Switch 2 version of Star Wars Outlaws will drop in September, and the new DLC featuring fan-favorite outlaw Hondo Ohnaka will be available in May. And finally, Marvel Rivals is celebrating beach weather with new swimsuit skins. Marvel Comics is also bringing back their famous Swimsuit Issue, so get your wallets ready to drop more money on Marvel Rivals skins.
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue became a cultural phenomenon in the mid 70's thanks in large part to supermodel Cheryl Tiegs who was on the cover in 1970, 1975 and again in 1983 becoming the first Swimsuit to be on the cover three times. She went from a shy midwestern gal to living in New York City as one of the top models in the world thanks in large part to those 3 covers for SI. But her most famous shot was probably the fishnet suit she wore in 1978. Lets just say not much was left to the imagination and a star was born. In 1989, Sports Illustrated celebrated the 25th anniversary of the swimsuit issue with a 306 page layout that celebrated the woman over the years that made the popular publication what it was... a must see event that arrived in your mailbox in the middle of January to the delight of most men, young and old, and to the chagrin of mothers and wives across the land. Kathy Ireland was on the cover of that 1989 SI and once again, Cheryl Tiegs was a part of it... one of 9 times she appeared in the iconic issue. Curry Kirkpatrick wrote the corresponding piece of Tiegs in 1989 and remembers her as breathtaking in her early 40's as she had been 19 years earlier when she first was on a cover for Sports Illustrated. Kirkpatrick recalls when he first met Cheryl in her penthouse in New York City... and exactly what she wore as they strolled through the Big Apple to grab lunch on the Upper East Side. It was the only time the SI writer ever worked on the swimsuit issue and it's one he never forgot. He tells us on the show how Tiegs became the first SI model to become a huge celebrity and how she wasn't a fan of being in the spotlight. He recollects how Cheryl became a full fledged business-woman and paved the way for future models to be more than just a beautiful woman. And he tells how in the end, he received a hand-written note from Cheryl telling him she loathed the article Curry wrote of her in that 1989 issue. Why? Hear for yourself on the Past Our Prime podcast. Listen wherever you get your podcasts and hear a great tidbit of how the Uptown Girl, Christie Brinkley, and husband Billy Joel, were purposely left behind at the airport one year by the woman who ran the entire project, Julie Campbell. able to continue with the Swimsuit Issue. Had a couple of nice stories just after 7am this morning. One was a girl's favorite stuffed animal that ended up in the dump was found & returned to her, and a 98 year old Veteran in Oregon is still driving & delivering Meals on Wheels! Had a list of things that are turning FIFTY this year, and talked about all the condoms that'll be available at this year's Paris Olympics. Have you ever been to a show where the artist abruptly ended the concert? It happened recently at a John Mellencamp show in Toledo, Ohio. Let you know what's new on New Release Tuesday, and lol'd at a recent jersey swap in the NBA. During today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about eating an onion a day to keep the doctor away, the crazy gang violence in Haiti, a guy in Tennessee who got busted for drugs, a home invasion in Connecticut where the thieves were looking for a cat, a EMT who was groped by a drunk man, the Irish Navy, a guy who stole a truck & a tree trunk trimmer, and a dude who pulled a gun on some kids who ding-dong-ditched him. Martha Stewart and Kim Petras are not only suiting up for Sports Illustrated's latest Swimsuit Issue, they're also making history in the process! At age 81, Martha is now the oldest woman ever to grace the cover (knocking Elon Musk's mom out of the record books), and Kim is now the second trans woman to score this honor. While the reaction to their photo spreads has been mostly positive, some online haters are singling out Kim's inclusion. While our open border is flooded with people coming in that will do harm, like Afghan terrorists on the watch list and Chinese spies, Joe Biden gives a college speech alarming black Americans that the greatest terror threat they face is from white people. What the hell? The hero marine on a subway in New York faces up to 15 years if convicted after subduing a crazy main on the train. In just one week... $2 million has been raised for his defense and that's a good thing. Shocker of all shockers, I agree with the KC Star about renaming something in KC.... but it comes with a caveat. A pair of NFL stars are ripping Dems, Hootie is headed to Big Slick, Zack Greinke hits a cool milestone, the PGA Championship begins this week and a 36 year old mother of three get the cover of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue.

Today's show rundown: Chuck is feeling under the weather for our second show today, but never fear, the Show Must go on, and Michael Guy is going to step in and Co-Host for us. Mark starts us off about Monkey pox, and how it is the newest way for the media to keep you looking where they want to. Mark talks a little about the Doctors we have had on in the past and how the so called vaccine...and long story short, the more vaccines you do, the more you will HAVE to do. How much money is there out there if big Pharma can keep people needing boosters FOREVER. Universities across the country are now fighting....FAT-Phobia. This is caused specifically by capitalism and racism. Fat Phobia is this obsession with people being obese. Sports Illustrated have just been shooting themselves in the groin, last years Swimsuit Issue was a trans man on the cover, and this year...they have gone a different way and put a heavy girl on the cover. This all inclusivity has just spun the compass around from north to south...we all know certain things, and obesity is a leading cause of death in America...it kills people, celebrating it is scary. Michael goes into depth about his friend with a liver failure, which leads him down a rabbit hold of COVID19 - listen in https://truthsocial.com/

"When stories such as this one make the national news, non-Evangelicals are often outraged over such Puritanical, backward thinking and behavior, thinking that schools such as Heritage Academy are few and far between. However, there are scores of Heritage Academies scattered across the United States, each with harsh rules and discipline meant to keep students from drinking, cussing, smoking, fornicating, and listening to rock music. These schools not only regulate what students can and can't due while at school, they also regulate what they can and can't do at home and with their friends. One Fundamentalist school I am very familiar with expelled several high school students because they were caught drinking alcohol at a private party. These types of schools tend to legislate behavior both on and off campus, and that is certainly the case with Maddi Runkles. There's no greater sin for a Christian school girl to commit than to get pregnant. Boys can whore around and schools are none the wiser. But, when a girl has unprotected sex (and my money is on the school's sex education class being abstinence only) and finds herself pregnant, well her S-I-N is exposed for all to see. This, of course, is a public embarrassment for Evangelical schools, leading to jokes and gossip about their morality codes and the inability of students to keep them." "Back in my Evangelical preacher days, I would watch for the Swimsuit Issue to be delivered so I could throw it in the trash before one of my teenage sons or I was led into horrible sexual sin. One particular year, the magazine never arrived. Hmm, I thought at the time. I wonder what happened to it? Months later, while working on a vanity light in our master bathroom, I found the missing issue hidden above the cabinet. How did this magazine get here? I wondered. Come to find out, one of my sons had intercepted the magazine and hidden it. I made sure my mag-stealing son knew that he had sinned against God, and then I tore the magazine up and threw it away. Today, we heartily laugh about this story, but at the time, absconding with the magazine was viewed as a serious act of disobedience to God. I felt it my duty to ensure that my sons were not exposed to pornography, be it Playboy, Hustler, or the SI Swimsuit Issue." "Instead of causing all sorts of psychologically harmful guilt and fear, perhaps it is better to consider whether sexual want, need, and desire are normal and healthy? Is it normal for me to see an attractive woman (or man) and appreciate their beauty? As someone who believes in the importance of owning one's sexuality, I am capable of sexually desiring someone without acting on that desire. That's what grown-ups do. Forty-two years ago, I made a commitment to my wife to be sexually faithful to her. She made the same commitment to me. This commitment guides how I behave sexually. This doesn't mean I can't look, view porn, or watch TV with provocative sexual content. One of the interesting aspects of our post-Jesus marriage is that Polly and I are free to express ourselves sexually. In fact, I find it interesting to see the type of men whom Polly finds attractive. She really has a thing for gay guys. Having conversations about these things is no threat to our relationship. We are comfortable in our own skins sexually." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

Sun, sand (or pool deck cement) and swimsuits - essential ingredients for the summer season. These words conjure happy memories and future excitement for the hottest time of the year. They can also, however, bring up a wider range of reactions, feelings and associations for those who currently (or have previously occupied) a marginalized body. In this episode, the ladies discuss some of the ‘hot realities' of summer, from the proliferation of perspiration to pool deck terror and navigating the extended festival of summer eating - think BBQs, iced treats and ‘patio season'. The Fatties also chat about learning to claim summertime delights and a few of their favourite iconic pool/beach scenes from Hollywood. (www.thisisfullfat.com)

SI's Swimsuit Model Hunter Talks About The Challenges Of Being Plus-Size.
Model Behavior. Hunter McGrady is a third-generation model who is killing it…and she’s doing it with kindness and compassion. We were witness to her beautiful vibes during her photo shoot for Story + Rain. One of Hunter’s missions is to help nurture women of all body types. The fresh-faced blonde grew up in the mountains of Malibu and has Icelandic roots. Her mother was personally mentored by modeling industry icon Wilhelmina Cooper. Currently a size 18, Hunter is the curviest model to be featured in Sports Illustrated’s famed Swimsuit Issue, for four years and counting. Her size has changed over the years, and she embraces it. An impressive accomplishment for someone under 30, last year she released her size-inclusive line for QVC. Recently married, Hunter has worked with brands like The Knot to help dispel the common practice of a woman shedding weight for her wedding day. A social media influencer and a brand ambassador, Hunter works with big brands like Olay, Revlon, and Amazon. During our talk we ask Hunter about how her mother prepared her for the business. We discuss the pivotal moment that caused her to take a break, when she was turned away from a photo shoot because of her size. We also discuss her tried and true practice of daily affirmations, and her relationship with anxiety and depression. We asked her about the details of her experience with and the inner workings of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. We get into the treatment that "plus" and curve models receive in the industry, and how she’s navigated that landscape. We needed to get the scoop on how she met her husband on Tinder. You’ll hear all about her line and her work with QVC. Hunter discusses what it’s like being a brand ambassador, and how she became a social media influencer. We tapped her for the items she loves, the reasons why, and you can shop some of them here: 1. All Worthy Hunter McGrady by QVC x Hunter McGrady https://rstyle.me/+CFaU6nBlpYIHsZTWDLp5vw 2. A photo of a naked body can make us marvel yet feel uncomfortable at the same time. This week is the 10-year anniversary of the Body Issue, an edition of ESPN The Magazine that features top athletes in nude photographs. It's often compared to the Sports Illustrated annual Swimsuit Issue, and frankly because of that the conversation stops quickly. But is there more here that we as Christians should talk about? God created us whole, body and soul. Can we celebrate extraordinarily athletic bodies, the disciple to build them, and the vulnerability to share them -- all with a certain lens of discernment? There's much more to hear. Tune in.

The unspoken truth is that Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue is not a triumph of female athleticism, agency, or empowerment. Instead, it is a descent into sexual objectification. Research sows that when someone is being objectified the objectifier is viewing them as if they do not possess a real, individual mind and as if they are less deserving of moral treatment.[1] Some claim that these experiences are “likely to contribute to mental health problems that disproportionately affect women (i.e., eating disorders, depression, and sexual dysfunction.)" [2] Objectification also impacts men, as shown by the fact that sexual objectification occurs in 37% of advertisements featuring men's body parts to showcase a product.[3] But why is it that so many people actively participate in objectification culture? This podcast will discuss the phenomenon of self-objectification, and why it is ultimately not empowering.
