This week, Candice welcomes Priscilla Eyles for a discussion on intersectional cult recovery. Priscilla, who comes to us from the UK, is a DEI/JEDI consultant who shares about their time spent in two different cults: Landmark, an LGAT offshoot of est, and OneTaste, a wellness organization that is currently under FBI investigation for sexual exploitation and forced labor practices. When Priscilla stepped away and began grappling with their back-to-back cult experiences, they immediately noticed how cult recovery spaces often overlook the perspectives of marginalized folks. As a neurodiverse, racialized, queer cult survivor, they have since become an intersectional anti-cult activist/advocate who centers the perspectives of multiply-marginalized survivors. Priscilla generously agreed to join the pod to help Candice and TDP listeners better understand how to respectfully platform marginalized voices - without being tokenistic or extractive. Priscilla speaks candidly about their own neurodiversity, how multiple marginalizations can complicate the process of cult recovery, and why culty groups can be so attractive to those who have been systematically marginalized. Victim blaming is once again discussed, only this time from an intersectional perspective. This is an eye-opening conversation, and a reminder than there really is no such thing as homogenous cult survivorship.Priscilla Eyles (she/her, they/them) is passionate about enabling the social acceptance of multiply marginalized neurodivergent (ND) people and cult survivors like themselves, as well as increasing understanding of the great value of lived experience wisdom and the importance of trauma-informed approaches. As a cult survivor who is a biracial, ADHD/autistic (AuDHD), queer femme/AFAB (assigned female at birth), they are equally passionate about normalizing conversations around cult abuse and foregrounding how cults can prey on and retraumatize people like them. Priscilla was formerly a Project Coordinator managing an intersectional disability project and is a DEI/JEDI trainer and consultant specializing in neurodivergence in the workplace. with Resolve Evolve, who has trained in DEI practice with the Sarah Jane Academy. As an intersectional ND & cult awareness advocate & activist, she has spoken at various major panel/campaign events and written for numerous publications/organizations as a freelance writer.Twitter: @PriscillaEyles | Insta: @CulturalLiasons | Email: priscillaeyles@gmail.com Referenced in this episode:The Equality House - Topeka, KSBBC Interview - Me, my autism and cultsEvvie Orman - YouTubeOrgasm, Inc. - NetflixSupport the showThe stories and opinions shared in this episode are based on personal experience and are not intended to malign any individual, group, or organization.Join The Deeper Pulse at Patreon for weekly bonus episodes + other exclusive bonus content. Priscilla is a bi-racial, neurodivergent queer person who survived eight years in two cults and has worked in many toxic workplaces with cult-like dynamics. Priscilla is also a trustee for Camden Disability Action and has a special interest in effective and holistic therapeutic frameworks and trauma-informed approaches, they recently completed a foundation certificate in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling at the Minster Centre. alleinerziehend, berufstätig, erfolgreich - DER Podcast für alleinerziehende Mamas von Mama Speciale

Evelyn Oatley dreams of becoming a stage star in London's glamorous theaterland. It's a world away from her grim provincial upbringing. The daughter of a German immigrant, her troubled home life was compounded by a wave of anti-German rioting that broke out during World War One. Tiring of both her job at a textile mill and her relationship with a local farmer, Evelyn ran off to London and transformed herself into budding starlet "Lita Ward". But she found neither fame nor fortune there... only danger. Sources: Andrews, Maggie and Lomas, Janis. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to shift how we deliver care to those living with osteoarthritis. There has been an increasing number of online resources including websites, decision aids, remotely delivered programs and podcasts such as Joint Action which have become increasingly popular in the past year. With the numerous resources available, how do we know which programs are suitable and evidence-based? The OARSI Joint Effort Initiative is a collaboration between international clinicians and researchers with an interest in the implementation of OA management programs. Their aim is to improve overall care with a focus on core interventions such as education, exercise and weight management. On this episode of Joint Action, we are joined by Dr Jillian Eyles and Dr Jocelyn Bowden to discuss the OARSI Joint Effort Initiative and online resources for osteoarthritis. The idea is to a) re-discover the power of PLAY again, the joys of experimentation, and the importance of creativity, intuition and imagination and b) to discover and nurture what Gerd calls a 'Future Mindset'; a curious mind that takes good care of what is, now, and at the same time investigates what isn't yet here. Foresight not prediction, observation and imagination not just calculation. When you think of "man-eater" a few animals come to mind: Lions, Tigers, and Bears....but what about an Eagle that regularly takes down 300 pound prey? Oh my! ..In this episode of Dirty Bird Podcast, I talk with Tim about the now extinct but still terrifying Haast's Eagle, the largest Eagle to ever exist. According to Maori legend, this bird was known to prey on humans. We also talk about another extinct giant: Eyles's Harrier, the largest Harrier to ever exist. Why did New Zealand produce so many giant bird species? How did the Maori combat these fearsome creatures? And how crazy of a coincidence is it that the Eagles from Lord of the Rings actually seemed to exist on the very place where the movies were filmed?! Listen NowDespite gains made under the ACA, health insurance coverage in the US remains fraught with problems. Over 28 million non-elderly remain uninsured. Health care spending is extreme. Health care coverage is the most expensive worldwide in absolute terms and relative to average incomes – despite the fact Americans consume no more or fewer health care resources than our comparative peers. In 2018, an insurance premium for a family of four was $19,616 or almost one-third of median household income of $61,372. Several factors explain this. Among others, while Medicare spending per capita decreased by 1.2% between 2007 and 2014 however for private insurance spendingincreased per capita by 16.9%. Rapidly rising drug prices, that account for 17% of all national health spending, are two times as much as comparative countries. Americans also pay substantial health care administrative costs that equaled $259 billion in 2017, or nearly four times average of other developed countries. (We spend more on health care administration the UK spends on all of health care.) Relative to outcomes, US life expectancy at birth, that has declined for the past three years (for the first time in a century), is exceeded by 79 countries. Per a recent Bloomberg health efficiency study, the US ranked 54th out of 56 countries. Hong Kong, Singapore and Spain ranked 1 through 3, the US fell between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria.During this 29 minute conversation Mr. Eyles answers whether health care coverage is a right or a privilege, notes AHIP's position on Texas v. Azar, discusses the problem of consolidated insurance markets, i.e., lack of market competition and what can be done about it. He responds to questions concerning the health care sectors efforts at measuring for value (outcomes achieved relative to spending), the Medicare Advantage (Part C) program, the future of the insurance industry, what it is doing to address or prepare for the health effects of climate change and we conclude with his brief comment regarding Medicare for All. Matthew (Matt) Eyles has served as President and CEO of America's Health Insurance Plans or AHIP (the national trade association representing commercial health insurance providers) for one year. Mr. Eyles joined AHIP in 2015 to lead its Policy and Regulatory team and served as Chief Operating Officer just prior to his current position. Just previously, he served in several senior positions at Coventry Health Care (now an Aetna company) and with Wyeth (now a subsidiary of Pfizer). He also was employed by Avalere Health, a DC-based consulting firm, where his worked moreover concerned pharmaceutical industry issues. Mr. Eyles began his career at the Congressional Budget Office where he examined an array of health care policy topics. Mr. Eyles serves on the Board of Directors of the National Health Council and previously on the Board of the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation (NEHI). He earned his undergraduate degrees in history and political science from The George Washington University and a graduate degree in public Policy from the University of Rochester. For information on AHIP go to: https://www.ahip.org/. This is a public episode. They will discuss the Australianisation process of technology and systems sourced from outside of the country and offer advice to SMEs on increasing their chances of gaining contracts with the major defence players. The pair will also discuss the huge opportunity that the SEA 5000 program presents to SMEs, address when they are expecting there to be contractual developments in the SEA 1000 project and look at how these programs are likely to impact their roles going forward. In six weeks, Matt Eyles will become the CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans, taking over for Marilyn Tavenner — one of the most prominent seats in health policy. But before that, Eyles sat down with POLITICO to preview his agenda, critique the Trump administration’s changes to the insurance markets and rebuff concerns that AHIP has lost influence in Washington. On the podcast, Eyles discussed what it’s like to be a lobbyist in the Trump era and how he arrived at AHIP (starts at the 1:30 mark); how his leadership will differ from Tavenner’s (6:05); his thoughts on UnitedHealthcare and other top insurers choosing to leave AHIP, and whether his organization has lost juice on Capitol Hill (9:00); his views on Medicaid and why AHIP is touting the public program's benefits (16:40); the Trump administration’s changes to Obamacare and the insurance markets (19:40); the employer insurance market (26:30); and insurers seeking mergers with players like CVS Health (27:30). After the break, POLITICO insurance reporter Paul Demko joins Dan Diamond to analyze Eyles’ comments, discuss the future of AHIP and review the Trump administration’s insurance market changes.
