I argue that in the culture war—amid Christianity's collapse (only 18% of Zoomers remain deeply religious), the Left's 2020 tyranny, and the Right's self-destructive infighting (as Matt Walsh warns)—Christian conservatives may engage in limited co-belligerency with unlikely allies to defend our way of life, but only when three pillars remain intact: intention (preserving inherited order against existential threats, per Scruton, Abram's pagan rescue of Lot in Genesis 14, and Nehemiah's wall); identity (Schmitt's friend/enemy distinction, rejecting liberalism's failed pluralism and decisionism's tyranny, favoring federalism); and integrity (unbreakable moral lines—Daniel's refusal, Joseph's flight, and Paradine's rejection of witchcraft in “The Valley Was Still”). Any alliance that demands we compromise conscience, blur our distinctions, or induce sin is strictly forbidden—no exceptions. Our Sponsors:* Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code HARRIS for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/conversations-that-matter8971/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
As MCC grew as a denomination, they tried to figure out if and how to relate to other churches. Would any befriend a queer church? And if so, would that friendship help other churches shift their perspective on homosexuality? These questions got harder as AIDS numbers grew—it made people more afraid yet friendship more vital. But sometimes friendship emerges in the most unlikely of places. Like when a children's choir visited an AIDS ward in San Francisco and sang for an MCC member there. That connection started a partnership between their churches that changed them both. For images and links about this episode visit https://www.heavenpodcast.org/episode-4. Sid outlines endorsements, notably David Paterson's last-minute support for Cuomo while criticizing Mamdani, before he touches upon the Socialist candidate's resurfaced comments about the NYPD and IDF. Sid stays committed to his strong anti-Muslim rhetoric against Mamdani, urging voters to prevent him from winning. What a Mamdani Win Would Mean for Local Communities**: As the mayoral race heats up, we examine how a Mamdani administration would impact working-class families in New York City, with a focus on affordable housing, policy prescriptions, and the potential shift in national politics, featuring insights from Laura Flanders and journalists working around the country for this month's Meet the BIPOC Press. This show is made possible by you! To become a sustaining member go to LauraFlanders.org/donateDescription: Wherever you are in the county, you've probably heard the name “Zohran Mamdani”. New York City's mayoral race is a national story, and it's hard to overstate the significance of the leading candidate in this moment. If elected, Mamdani would become the first Muslim-American and only the second Democratic Socialist Mayor of the largest city in the U.S. His victory, on a promise to make New York affordable for working people, would have implications for politics everywhere. The race is already garnering both excitement and anxiety. President Trump is threatening to withhold federal funding for New York City if Mamdani wins. From Chicago to Dearborn, Michigan, journalists are watching. In this installment of “Meet the BIPOC Press”, Laura Flanders speaks with Felipe De La Hoz, investigative immigration and policy reporter whose work has been featured in The Intercept, The Washington Post, New York Mag and The Nation; Osama Siblani, publisher and founder of The Arab American News, the largest Arab American newspaper in the U.S., and Asha Ransby-Sporn, organizer and writer for In These Times and co-founder of Black Youth Project 100, where she led the group's national organizing program. Are celebrities oversharing about their splits? Nicole Kidman's keeping it classic - sending us subliminal messages through clothes (see: revenge dress). Lily Allen is being extremely 2025 by putting her Notes-app confessions to music. But why are we being kept so clearly in the loop of some very private business? Welcome to a slightly unhinged conspiracy theory about the strategic advantage of spilling divorce tea and yes, it involves real estate. Also, is cutting out friendships the ultimate life hack? Some of the trad wives certainly think so, saying they've given birth to and married the only friends they need. And there are some Australian workplaces having some particularly awkward meetings today - the schools that set the wrong subject for the HSC exam, and... the BOM. What colour is drizzle, anyway? Plus, some scurrilous gossip about a chaotic new couple. On today's show, Jessie Stephens, Holly Wainwright and Amelia Lester unpack it all. What does it take to triple a nonprofit's operating budget, raise $3.3 million for a capital campaign, complete a $10 million dollar facility renovation, AND expand to three campuses, all in just six years? Hope Pavich, Executive Director of Care for Friends, joins me to share how she did exactly that. In this episode, you'll hear how Hope's team identified service gaps to build an innovative grocery delivery program for unhoused youth that now reaches 30 of Chicago's 50 wards, and why funders jumped to support it. Plus, how an unexpected construction delay funneled into a long-term partnership with the Church of the Atonement, and why focusing on shared values over speed can create sustainable, scalable growth.Hope is no stranger to strategic growth and mission aligned innovation. She also shares her process for crafting clear, funder-friendly storytelling, along with real-world examples on collaboration and leading through uncertainty.Resources & LinksLearn more about Care for Friends, their programs, and how to donate.Check out The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level. This show is brought to you by GivingTuesday! Friends of the Rosary,This month, Pope Leo XIV released the apostolic exhortation Dilexi Te (I Have Loved You). It's a moving and challenging reminder that the love of God and love of neighbor are one.“Charitable works are the burning heart of the Church's mission.”Dilexi Te calls for the transformation of hearts and the way we see one another. Especially our love for the poor, to whom we have a unique obligation.“Christian love breaks down every barrier, brings close those who were distant, unites strangers, and reconciles enemies. It spans chasms that are humanly impossible to bridge, and it penetrates to the most hidden crevices of society.”“A Church that sets no limits to love, that knows no enemies to fight but only men and women to love, is the Church that the world needs today.”“We have to state, without mincing words, that there is an inseparable bond between our faith and the poor.”Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends,When I was on my book tour for Hawk Mountain, I did an event with Andrea Lawlor where we spoke, at length, about horror. In the Q&A, someone raised a hand and asked:WHAT IS HORROR?Andrea and I both laughed. We found ourselves at a loss.Horror :Once you consider it, it's not clear. There's the assumption that horror is scary. Sometimes that's true. But obviously what's scary for you might not be scary for me, and vice versa, so that can't define the genre. We say horror has certain elements, but there are different kinds of horror to define its contours, whether it's body horror, slasher horror, cosmic horror...We might turn to the familiar face of horror - the monster - to see what they reveal to us. But while vampires, werewolves, zombies express, through their differing powers and weakness, different theories about horror, they can't give us a picture of what it is really. They're contained by it.Horror: Always on, always available, always around us. So… what is it?I asked my friends PHIL FORD and J.F. MARTEL - the cohosts of the WEIRD STUDIES PODCAST - onto the show to walk into the dark - or is it the blinding, malevolent light? - with me, and with you, to see what we would find there.Weird Studies is, in my experience of it, anyway, a horror podcast. In fact, my last conversation with Phil and J.F. was on Weird Studies and about horror: on Weird Studies 144, we looked into Clive Barker's Hellraiser and the book it's based on, The Hellbound Heart. But it's not a horror podcast because it's always focused on horror; many episodes are about topics and artworks that seem less than horrific (their series on each card in the major arcana of the tarot, for instance, or their episode on Herman Hesse's novel about enlightenment, Siddhartha). But there is a quality on each episode - a quality which we discuss in this conversation - of the threat of art, philosophy, image and sound. The way they invade our lives. Rearrange our organs Destroy the world we knew. In other words, we might think of horror as a position in time, something approaching or orbiting. Or as something creates shadows by blocking the light, or by creating a void where an object once was. You can hear me going in many directions again. Conversation with Phil and J.F. inspires that in me - being pulled in many directions at once. That's another way of thinking of horror: horror as blob; as spreading epidemic, as destroying giant, vaster than the safety of our shelters. This is what I love about talking with Phil and JF and about Weird Studies, and also why I often think of their podcast as the only true sibling to mine. In conversation with them, everything a springboard for everything. A web of connections. Or maybe better said, a transforming activity, everything metamorphosing into everything else through membranous, visceral, and expansive moves. Please support this show on patreon.PATREON.COM/CONNERHABIBYou can also find an almost complete list of the books, movies, etc we mention on this episode there.

While standing on Itaipu Beach in Niterói, Brazil, he witnessed, with several others, a strange configuration of red lights ascending into the sky. The UFO case was also reported in the local newspaper, as many others had reported seeing the objects along the edges of Niterói. Then we head to Virginia in the United States to speak with Catherine about her paranormal experiences, starting with one from her college days when she received a late night visit from a very recently passed friend that left her terrified; then the following night, Catherine's friend came to her in a dream.Steve Hackett's Website:https://www.hackettsongs.comMore information on this episode on the podcast website:https://ufochroniclespodcast.com/ep-165-niteroi-ufos-a-friends-last-goodbye/Want to share your encounter on the show?Email: UFOChronicles@gmail.comOr Fill out Guest Form:https://forms.gle/uGQ8PTVRkcjy4nxS7Podcast Merchandise:https://www.teepublic.com/user/ufo-chronicles-podcastHelp Support UFO CHRONICLES by becoming a Patron:https://patreon.com/UFOChroniclespodcastX: https://x.com/UFOchronpodcastThank you for listening!Like share and subscribe it really helps me when people share the show on social media, it means we can reach more people and more witnesses and without your amazing support, it wouldn't be possible.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/ufo-chronicles-podcast--3395068/support.

In this solo episode of the Arc Junkies Podcast, Jason breaks down the real reason welding wages aren't skyrocketing — the skills gap. He dives deep into what employers actually pay to keep a welder on staff, why so many applicants are failing basic tests, and how underqualified welders are holding back wages across the trade. Jason shares real-world insight from decades in the field, explains what it truly costs to employ a $20/hour welder, and compares modern wages to those from the 1940s — revealing that welding has, in fact, kept pace with inflation. He also talks about career decisions, negotiating pay, and why money alone shouldn't drive your passion for welding. Whether you're new to the trade or a seasoned pro, this episode will challenge your perspective, inspire you to invest in your skills, and remind you that opportunity still exists for those willing to put in the work. Here be dragons! I'm celebrating Halloween week on Talking Scared with the very cream of the bucket list. Joe Hill is finally on the show! The author of Heart Shaped Box, NOS4A2, “The Black Phone” and Lock & Key is back with his first novel in nearly a decade, and it's a beast! King Sorrow is an epic of dragons, diabolical deals, decade-spanning friendships, love and hate and everything in between. It's bloody brilliant! Joe talks about the triple inspiration of The Hobbit, The Secret History and Friends. We tackle tech-bros and trolls (literally), and the formidable role of his mother, Tabitha King. And if we disagree on certain characters in King Sorrow, we're certainly on the same page when it comes to the role of love in life and writing. This is a special one for me. A special book and a special conversation. Enjoy! Other books mentioned: 20th Century Ghosts (2005), by Joe Hill Heart Shaped Box (2007), by Joe Hill The Fireman (2016), by Joe Hill The Hobbit (1937), by J.R.R. Tolkien The Secret History (1992), by Donna Tartt The Dead Zone (1979), by Stephen King Cloud Atlas (2004), by David Mitchell Old Soul (2025), by Susan Barker The Trap (1985), by Tabitha King “The Jewbird” (1963), by Bernard Malamud Coffin Moon (2025), by Keith Rosson Support Talking Scared on Patreon Check out the Talking Scared Merch line – at VoidMerch Come talk books on Bluesky @talkscaredpod.bsky.social on Instagram/Threads, or email direct to talkingscaredpod@gmail.com Learn more about your ad choices. Last month, VCY held its fall rally and the guest presenter was Chris Katulka from the Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry. He spoke on the issue: Why Israel Matters. Why does Israel still matter? Chris had this to say in his opening comments concerning the Bible: "From Genesis to Revelation, this book is Jewish, OK? Do you know that your Savior Jesus is Jewish? You know he never went to church, he went to synagogue. He never celebrated Christmas or Easter. That would be awkward, OK? Jesus celebrated Passover. He honored Yom Kippur. He kept the Feast of Tabernacles. He celebrated Hanukkah. Jesus is Jewish and we believe that if you have a passion for God's Word, then you should automatically have compassion for God's chosen people." That pretty much says it all, but we encourage you to listen to this larger portion of audio from the rally as Chris explains how the existence of a Palestinian state would really be a reward to Hamas. He breaks down Genesis 12:3 (the promise to Abraham) and how it extends throughout the entire Bible. Find out why the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Assyrians and numerous other people groups are gone, yet Israel is still in existence. Other points are examined as well, all to show that Israel still matters!

Fear can hold us back from boldly sharing the hope of Jesus, but God calls every believer to step forward in courage. Drawing from Joshua 1:9, this devotional encourages Christians to rely on God’s presence and strength to overcome fear and proclaim the Good News with confidence. Courage is not the absence of fear—it’s trusting that God goes with us wherever we are sent. Highlights Fear often surfaces when we feel unprepared or anxious to share our faith. God commands strength and courage, promising His presence wherever we go (Joshua 1:9). The enemy uses fear to silence believers, but God’s power surpasses any opposition. True courage flows from trusting God, not relying on our own abilities. Speaking the truth of Jesus with love can impact lives and advance His Kingdom. Join the Conversation Where has God been calling you to step out in courage? Share a moment you overcame fear by trusting Him. He suffered martyrdom in Armenia, which was then under Persian rule.He is the author of an epistle (letter) to the Churches of the East, in particular the Jewish converts, directed against the heresies of the Simonians, Nicolaites, and Gnostics.St. Jude was the one who asked Jesus at the Last Supper why He would not manifest Himself to the whole world after His resurrection. He is invoked as the patron of desperate, forgotten, and lost situations and causes because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances, just as their forefathers had done before them.Every image of him depicts him wearing a medallion with a profile of Jesus.Saint Jude Thaddeus is not the same person as Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Our Lord and despaired because of his great sin and lack of trust in God's mercy.St. Simon, who had been called a Zealot, is thought to have preached in Egypt and then to have joined St. Jude in Persia. Here, he was supposedly martyred by being cut in half with a saw, a tool he is often depicted with.Today, we also celebrate the Fourth Anniversary of the departure for the glory of heaven of Maria Blanca, co-founder of the Rosary Network, along with Mikel A. The turmoil around the Gaza war has transformed French Jews into “different people” than they were two years ago, pioneering rabbi Delphine Horvilleur said on the Haaretz Podcast. “I don't know any of any Jewish family in France who hasn’t had a conversation around the Shabbat table,” Horvilleur said, contemplating possible emigration and wondering what will remain of Jews in France a decade from now. In her discussion with podcast host Allison Kaplan Sommer, Horvilleur talks about inspiring the hit HBO show "Reformed" and the books she's penned herself: "Living with Our Dead" and "How Isn't It Going? Conversations After October 7." The rabbi also addressed the hate mail and death threats she received after writing a column in a French Jewish magazine last spring that was critical of far-right members of the Israeli government who justified denying humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza as legitimate acts of war. She noted the “really harsh” threats she received were smaller in number than the amount of support. “Even today, I walk in the streets of Paris, and Jews stop me and say, ‘thank you for speaking out, because we believe exactly what you said, but we cannot say it anymore.’ Somehow the crisis and the war and the pain and the trauma created an inability to talk. "And for me, the real threat today lies in not being able to say what we think, to talk and re-engage in the Jewish conversation” in which, Horvilleur said, it is possible to be “both supportive of and critical of” Israel.
