En: Marco found himself in the heart of Trastevere, surrounded by narrow alleys and at the intersection of winding streets. All in all, Marco loved this unplanned enigma. His adventure began by walking down a cobblestone street, bordered by ancient buildings in yellow-terracotta hues, flowered balconies, and lines of hanging laundry. En: As he strolled, he was drawn to a sweet fragrance in the air. Chase that aroma, he ended up in a small hidden gelato shop, called "Gusto Gelato." He ordered a large strawberry gelato and sat outside to enjoy the spectacle of the street. En: He continued his walk, turning right, then left, then right again, but incredibly found himself back in the same gelato shop. Surprised, he laughed to see the gelato man looking at him with a mischievous smile and saying, "Welcome back!" Laughing, Marco ordered another gelato, this time chocolate flavor. En: Marco decided to take another street, but to his pride's detriment, he found himself back in the same gelato shop. A little frustrated, he ordered a cream gelato and sat down. He gazed at the ancient buildings, the flickering lights on the brick walls, and the residents blending in with laughter and conversations. En: The gelato man, seeing him a bit dejected, said, "Most tourists get lost here. Rome is complicated, but it's also what makes it special." Marco nodded, accepting his situation with a resigned smile. He decided to stay there for the rest of the evening, enjoying the charm and warm welcome of this little corner of Rome. En: The moral of his day? No matter how hard you try, there are situations in life that you don't foresee. The most important thing is to be able to laugh at yourself and enjoy the experience, however silly it may seem. In essence, Marco didn't win the battle with Rome but found something much sweeter... the best gelato of his life and an unforgettable story to tell. All thanks to an urban maze and "Gusto Gelato." From that day on, whenever someone asked him about his trip to Rome, Marco always replied with a smile: "It was a sweetly disorienting experience!" I love Australia and Australians so this was super fun to record, I laughed a lot in this one! Today we discuss Leanne + Lyle's slow travel lifestyle and specifically their recent trip to Spain where they visited over 40 cities, towns and villages. We also delve into their own great country as well as New Zealand + Japan. These guys do love a joke and are a joy to interview and speak to, you must check out their podcast. Hello everyone, today we're going to talk about finding your self-worth and living your life to its fullest with Roger Williams who is a writer, podcaster, adventurer, and Head Crosser Offer of his bucket list. After more than 30 years working in the youth development and teaching field, a year in quarantine, and two heart attacks, Roger embarked on an adult gap year to prioritize a life in which he is known not by his professional work, but by the way he lives his life and the people he grows relationships with. Now, he is traveling around the world to cross items off his bucket list and inspiring others to do the same. In the episode, we discuss about Roger's lifestyle, and how he's living nowadays and managing to cross off things on his bucket list while being connected to his family and loved ones. We explore a lot of important and interesting topics like the weirdest thing on his bucket list and the weirdest thing Roger ate while he was in Spain. We also discussed about his motivation and reason behind choosing this lifestyle and what caused this huge shift in his life and thoughts on American work-life balance in general. Working as a Banker and a Travel Agent made a good combination for Linda King. She is now an expert on advising people how to save money by traveling.Travel well without the cost is a good motto. This also applies to International travel, where many people just assume that it has to be more expensive to take a trip out of the country rather than stay in a hotel or rent a home on the beach close to home. In addition, there are many ways to earn "points" on airlines and hotel programs, but using them at the right time can also provide savings. It all sounds complicated, but its not.So, if you have any ambition to travel to a faraway destination but are thinking that it is too costly, well maybe think again. As far as other factors are concerned: healthcare, safety, jetlag, locations, to name a few, Linda probably has the answers .Check her out here:https://twitter.com/the_travelistahttps://www.instagram.com/thesmartravelistahttps://www.facebook.com/Thesmartravelistahttps://www.thesmarttravelista.com
Welcome to Episode 43! Today my good friend Adam Bamford (Bambi) brings a friend with him namely Godders so they can talk about their gap year experience in South East Asia. Godders also talks about his time living and working in Australia and gives some great advice. This is a brilliant anecdotal episode where each of us rekindled some memories we had forgotten about. This is the whole point of these conversations regarding travelling. They are there to bring happiness and motivation to see the world. This won't disappoint. When material things and wealth do not become the most important thing in a person's life, but rather the need to help other people, even if just for a few months, is very commendable. Amy and her husband were living comfortably in a NYC apartment but decided to sell all of their belongings and buy a one-way ticket to Ghana to volunteer at a breast cancer non-profit facility.Covid came along and they ended up being stuck in Ghana for 7 months. Many people made comments such as, "That must have sucked!" I wasn't surprised to hear Amy say, "It didn't suck at all." In fact it was an experience they will treasure for a long time.Occasionally, I hear derogatory comments about countries from people who have never been there or understand their culture. To me, that is just wrong. This is why travel is so important and educational.Amy is a "Life Transformation & Mental Fitness Coach", and being a Digital Nomad, she is able to help people everywhere, wherever she is in the World. Isn't technology wonderful.Find her at these places:https://amyyipcoaching.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/amycyip/https://www.facebook.com/amyyipcoaching

In Emily's own words:"After years of living and working in 4 different countries, several immigrations and changes in my professional directions I realized that I would like to create a new life chapter full of passion, health, and purpose. I created International Lifestyle Consulting company, which is helping people to find the destination, create a personal plan, and customized solution for the best place for life, work, and retirement overseas based on customer budget, personal preferences, desired lifestyle. "Personally, I have lived in 5 countries, but all locations were work related. I still think about spending 3 - 4 months living in another country and knowing how fulfilling, educational and exciting it would be. Thailand, Costa Rica, Spain and Portugal come to mind, but everyone has their own opinions. For Americans, you would be amazed at the number of people who take the plunge each year of which the reasons are numerous. Some move to countries close-by, within a few hours plane ride, while others relocated to places far away.Maybe do it for a month or two, but it will be an experience you will never forget.Emily will provide the knowledge, advice and re-assurance you need, so if you have considered a move, then it may be a great time to do it.Find her here:www.emilybron.comwww.facebook.com/InternationalLifestyleConsultingEmilyBronwww.instagram.com/ebron_international_consulting/www.twitter.com/BelayevEmiliawww.linkedin.com/in/emily-belayev-bron/

Do you love to try new food? Do you like to experiment with new cuisines? What about learning a new culture and having some fun along the way? Then a cooking class is a must to include in your tour of Vietnam. Not every country offers up Cooking Classes like they do in Vietnam. Cooking classes in Vietnam have a wide range of offerings including seafood, vegan and vegetarian, and will take you on a journey from farm to market, to table. Even, if you don't like to cook, you will find out WHY food tastes so good in Vietnam and what impact the region has on what you are eating. Why do just one class, when each area offers up something different in their cuisine?Vietnamese have a love affair with food and you will too after you do a cooking class. This is why I am excited about my guest today. On the show today, we have Chef Tracey Lister. As a chef, author, trainer, and cultural expert in Vietnamese cuisine she has some important insights to share with us about the real value of doing a cooking class in every region you visit to better understand the nuances of the locality you are in. She also has a restaurant, The Brunswick Kitchen & Cooking School, in Melbourne, Australia where you can learn some of these skills ONLINE.Through Tracey, we also learn more about the establishment of KOTO ( Based in Hanoi). This establishment has for many years been a charity cooking school and life skills institute for many impoverished Vietnamese students. Tracey was part of the start-up of this well-known and revered institute, alongside the Founder Jimmy Pham. Through their work, hundreds of students have broken the cycle of poverty and gone on to achieve gainful employment. In today's episode, we will explore:The incredible cultural experience you get through cooking classes in Vietnam. The ancient way that meals are still prepared today in VietnamHow the cuisine is influenced by its proximity to the border countries and why we recommend you do more than one classChef Tracey Lister's Books:Vietnamese Street FoodReal Vietnamese Cooking: Homestyle Recipes From Hanoi to Ho Chi MinhChef Tracey Lister's Restaurant & Cooking School The Brunswick KitchenKOTO Training Restaurant - https://www.koto.com.au/koto-training-restaurantsKOTO's philosophy Know One, Teach One is well ingrained among Staff, Trainees and Graduates. Please check out for more information - www.whataboutvietnam.comPlease rate and review on your iPhone - https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/what-about-vietnam-traveller-insights/id1513095454
Yep, this is "Living on the Edge" stuff. Ian is an Australian but currently living in London for this moment in time. He has lived on 5 continents, so chances are that he'll be going somewhere else quite soon.He is an International Safety and Performance Coach (for humans and organizations), which he explains in detail on this podcast episode. In one sentence, it is basically the science of systems-driven behavior and understanding of how and why people make mistakes.I always thought that there was some science reasoning behind my occasional decision making process. This occupation involves travel and sometimes to places where most of us would not even consider for a split second.Listen to why he was involved in some admirable work in North Korea and yes he did send a bouquet of flowers to the country's glorious leader as a goodwill gesture. With near misses in Libya and the Congo that could have ended badly, he has swam with great white sharks, climbed an active volcano and consumed jungle plant medicine to name a few.His life is one big adventure, but even though some of his activities are somewhat risky, it is all educational and fulfilling. You can find Ian here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/safetycoachhttps://facebook.com/ipcollins

Michelle is full of tales of Western Australia, where she's been quokka bothering on Rottnest Island and enjoying a tipple in the state's famous Margaret River wine region.
In this episode of The Blog Readings, I'll be reading a post from another blog! Not too long ago I had the privilege to welcome Chelsey Schultz, creator and author of The Ninja Gypsy, on the podcast. We had a great conversation about travel safety, which is a topic that I take great interest in and like to talk about from time to time. Recently, Chelsey published a post on her blog titled Top Tips for Bar Safety that I found very insightful. I don't frequent bars very often when I travel, so when it comes to travel safety, I'd say that this isn't my specialty. Therefore, I reached out to Chelsey to see if I could borrow her expertise on the subject and share her post. And that's what I'll be reading in today's episode. Thank you Chelsey for allowing me to read it aloud! To read her entire post, click HERE! Connect with Chelsey www.theninjagypsy.com Instagram Facebook Pinterest And check out Chelsey's book!: Inspired: The Stories of Nine Solo Female Travelers Chelsey also created a Facebook group called Safe Travel for Women. Where female travelers share their tips, ideas, and general information on how to travel the world safely. Lastly, tune into Chelsey's appearance on the podcast HERE! Thank you for listening! I've come to the realization that so far most of my episodes of The Blog Readings (TBR) have been more on the philosophical side. And I haven't talked very much about practical applications for travel. So for this TBR episode, I decided to share an earlier blog post that I wrote recently titled, 10 Rookie Travel Mistakes To Avoid. The mistakes listed in this post are ones that I've made myself or have observed other travelers make. And by knowing of them before you set off on your own adventures, you can save yourself from a lot of potential stress and embarrassment. I hope you all like it!
