I'm headed to the United Kingdom, specifically Wales, to watch a Wrexham football match. Wrexham is in the European Football League, which we Americans call soccer, and it's been incredibly exciting. I don't know if you've seen the Netflix documentary by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, but they bought this team, and it's been amazing to watch them evolve and earn promotions. They've been doing really well, and it's a blast to cheer them on. I wouldn't have discovered Wrexham or its strong sense of community if not for my good friends, Jenn  and Cass. They live on the West Coast, and we've known each other for over 28 years. I haven't seen them in person since before COVID, which is more than five years ago.  What I love about this Wrexham excitement is how it has reconnected us in a meaningful way. We've always been friends and supported each other, but this shared interest reignited and deepened our bond. So for today's Wise Walk, let's slow down, check our reality, and ask ourselves these questions. What relationship in your life do you want to rekindle, reconnect, or reinvigorate? What shared interests might you bring in to energize it? How can you approach it differently and find new common ground? Could setting aside time for consistent reunions, virtual or in person, help? Have you expressed to that person how important your connection is to you? Have you let them know you appreciate being in this together and look forward to evolving together? How can you show up and pay more attention to deepen your connection? What is the rhythm of your relationships and how can you honor that rhythm to keep them alive? Are you in a relationship where you can naturally ebb and flow, calling and catching up as you can? Do you need to be more scheduled and intentional about securing time to nurture your relationship? Can you plan a joint activity that you both look forward to, whether it's local or abroad? How can you maintain consistent touchpoints while also planning special events to cherish together? Latest Beef Industry News Florida's Cultivated Meat Ban A U.S. District Court in Northern Florida denied Upside Foods' request for a preliminary injunction on Florida's ban of cultivated meat. Chief Judge Mark Walker ruled the federal Poultry Products Inspection Act does not override the state's ban on the sale, distribution, or manufacture of cultivated meat. Upside Foods, based in Berkeley, California, sued Florida in August, arguing the law, effective July 1, is unconstitutional. The company has publicly opposed the law, including a "Freedom of Food" event featuring its cultivated chicken. McDonald's Lawsuit Accuses Suppliers Of Fixing Prices McDonald's Corp. is suing nine beef processors, including Cargill, JBS, National Beef, and Tyson Foods, alleging they conspired to inflate beef prices since 2015. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, claims the companies worked together to limit slaughter-ready cattle and manipulate beef supply, violating the Sherman Act. McDonald's seeks a declaration of the conspiracy, triple damages, and a permanent injunction to stop the alleged collusion. EP210: Practice Gratitude

Often, when I coach a client, we begin the session with three breaths. These breaths are meant to align our rhythms and heartbeats, and to allow us, as individuals, to release anything that happened before we came together. The words I use while we inhale and exhale together may vary. Sometimes I'll say, "Let's take a nourishing breath," or "Let's take a grounding breath," or even "Let's take a restorative breath." These words change based on what I sense in the moment, but I love the idea of taking three breaths because it centers me and connects me with my client. It also sets the intention to be fully present and hold a safe space for one another.  I always appreciate that clients respond positively to this practice. They might be rushing to meet with me or dealing with something that happened earlier, so this moment of breathing gives them time to regroup. In addition, if my client is going through a big life transition or something heavy, another practice I may incorporate into our conversation is a practice of gratitude. On today's Wise Walk, I thought we could slow down, check our reality, and ask ourselves these questions: Do you have a daily practice where you slow down, connect with your breath, and practice gratitude? Can you start to incorporate a practice of gratitude to help you move through life's heavy moments? As you look at your day, or you look at the coming weeks, is there anything that you have anxiety about?  Is there anything that feels a bit heavy for you?  What can you do to incorporate a practice of gratitude to help you move through transitions with a little bit more inner peace? What are some ways you can practice gratitude on a daily basis? Do you journal? What am I grateful for at this moment?  Would you rather practice gratitude in the morning? Do you have a cup of coffee and just allow yourself to be present in the moment?  Can you put where you feel aligned and blessed into words? Can you hold that sentiment in your heart to practice gratitude in whatever way feels aligned for you? Do you have what you need? What is really supporting you?  Who is in your life that you feel grateful for? Can you tell them? What are some of the things that you experienced today that you feel grateful for? What are some things that you're looking forward to that are going to support you on your journey? I am so grateful for each and every one of you. You continue to surprise and delight me. I received some great feedback from the last episode, and I'll be reflecting more on it. So, thank you again. I'm also feeling thankful that my power is back on! That's compounded by a lot of manufacturers selling on specs like pixel pitch, and the form factor of their products. Very few, however, spend much if any time talking about the why and what of video wall projects - as in why is this project being considered, what's it for, and also what's going to be on the screen when it gets plugged in. So I was intrigued when I was in touch with Chanan Averbuch, a South Florida LED industry vet. I learned he'd left his longtime executive sales gig with an LED display vendor to join a spinout that makes premium LED displays, but leads with creative. The company is called Blue Square X - with the X being short for experience. While most manufacturers just make the stuff, and ship it to integrators, Blue Square plans to bridge a couple of gaps - acting as consultants and producing creative for digital experiences ... with integrator partners doing the final install. We've traded messages on LinkedIn and everything else and as we were saying before I turned on the recording, we probably had a brush by, “Hey, how are you doing?” I think at some trade show, but we haven't chatted at length. Can you tell me what your company Blue Square X does, because I'm unfamiliar.  Chanan Averbuch: Sure. Blue Square, I guess you could more or less call it the parent company has been in business for over 10 years. But Blue Sqaure X is a relatively new venture, leveraging more of my background and my partner's background in the space, and inside Blue Sqaure X, I'm focused on the innovation side more so than anything else. So Blue Square X is displays that are 90 inches and larger on the LCD side, and on the LED side, everything from, 110 inches all the way to unlimited sizes. We have projects we're doing that are a hundred-foot-long LED walls and 40 feet high, concave, convex, curved, all that stuff.  But Blue Square X at the end of the day is not another led company. We're focused on the experience first, which means content first, software second, and LED third.  Yeah, which is quite different because, through the years I've had no end of companies, relate stories about how they sold big LED displays, had them installed and then the customer would look at them and say, “This is great, what should we put on the screen?” like an afterthought.  Chanan Averbuch: I've gotten that over the years, time and time again, somebody will have the brain fart of, “Wow, it would be really cool if we did a sports bar instead of a bunch of TVs, let's do LED.” Okay, and then two weeks before the grand opening, “Wait, what are we doing on this thing from 8 am to 4 pm when we're not watching sports games when there's no live sports?” So we did digital art in those spaces.  So you're, the terminology I use is, a solutions provider in that you're not a pure play integrator because an integrator doesn't tend to think about content or experience so much. There's the odd one that does, but for the most part, we put together the projects we deploy, maybe we manage them, but we don't really think that much about what's on the screen. Chanan Averbuch: Spot on. I think one of the key issues that I've experienced over almost the last two decades in the AV industry is that most of the channel has thought about how to move a box and has never really thought about what the client is trying to feel from an emotional perspective in a space.  What are they trying to create when someone walks into a space, when they leave a space, how do they want them to feel? I think in the era now where you're trying to get employees to come back to work, right? It doesn't matter if you're in the US, on the Democratic side or the Republican side, it doesn't make a real difference. If you want employees to come back to work, you have to give them a compelling reason for what it feels like when you come to the office beyond the barista, the coffee bar, and the cereal crap, you gotta have more of an experience too, oh my gosh, I love going to the office. It makes me feel a certain way, and that's where experience matters.  Do you find that many end users have their heads around what they want to do? Because I know from my consulting experience that I will ask customers what they want to do and why, and quite often they'll lean back in their chairs and think, I haven't really thought about that.  Chanan Averbuch: To be brutally honest with you, what was always my struggle for the last 13 years is trying to get people to understand what to try to make a space feel like, and I've been blessed in the early days now in Blue Square X, when we, in a very stealth mode, went to market, our first projects were actually luxury retail and it's not luxury retail where you would historically imagine where they have a big TV or big LED wall. It's now digital art being built. In an immersive space within luxury retail, there are several stores that we're going to be coming to live with soon with some beautiful case studies, very similar to what we're seeing in the real estate market.  We have a bunch of case studies about to come to market now as well for a luxury real estate sales center. So when someone launches a $100M or $2B project, they want to sell units fast. So having a projector in a sales center doesn't quite do it, but having an immersive theater and immersive LED wall with custom content where it looks like the waves are coming at you and things of that nature in a real way, not the 3D naked eye stuff. I'm talking about the real anamorphic content where it feels like you're buying into a lifestyle. When you're able to translate that, condo sales come along with it.  Quite often, I've also found that those customers who understand that kind of thinking, then have their heads snapped back when they start to understand the cost of doing that. Is there a lot of work in getting them over the line or do they just understand that this is a $100M development, yes, we're going to spend $250,000 on content or whatever the number is.  Chanan Averbuch: So it's funny that you say that because I think when I was personally going through my own journey and starting in this space, it was hard for me to explain that value, right? The good thing is, that we've already done in a very short period of time, some of these unique experiences where we're able to talk about the cost of capital, and the return on their capital, because in the world of real estate, for example, it's all about return on your investment. And they have interest payments in addition to principal payments that they owe to the bank. So the faster they sell units. The less they owe the bank.  So because we're focused more on the luxury and premium side, and they, I guess you could say the true experiential environments, the price is not necessarily as much of an issue. As the expression goes, price is only an issue in the absence of value, but because we're not trying to sell an LED screen. We're talking about the experience, we're talking about the content first, the software, how to get it there, and the LEDs, how you display it. It's a different conversation that we're having. We're talking usually to the marketing folks. We're talking to the innovation people. We're talking to the people who say, how am I going to get my ROI? And it's very easy to map that out, and that applies in luxury retail. That applies in real estate, and even because we're focused on the channel still looking with larger AV integrators, we're working with the AV integrators to help translate that value into how it's going to pan out and what it's going to do for their consumer or their buyers, whoever it is in their environments. So when you say you're working with the AV integrators, you wouldn't describe yourself as an integrator that's competing with them for business but as more of a partner?  Chanan Averbuch: Correct. So, thank God I've been very blessed with working with the AV channel to do control rooms, do experiential environments. That still has not changed for me. The only real difference in what we're doing in Blue Square X is that we are being engaged directly with the sports teams, we're being engaged directly with the architect or the interior designer, and then they'll say, who can execute this with us in addition to the Blue Square X pro services team, right? We don't run data cables. We don't run power. We don't put pressure on systems. That's not our business. We're not pretending to be an AV integrator. We're still going to be partnering with the AVI SPLs or the AVI Systems or the Diverifieds of the world, et cetera.  Okay. So you would quite possibly maybe own the customer, so to speak, but you're not doing the whole solution stack, you're gonna sub a partner with, I don't know, pull a name out, AVI, SPL, or whoever it may be.  Chanan Averbuch: Yeah, and I think there's a huge value added to that too, because not just because they have 5 employees, it's because, oftentimes when I would historically get a call in, my previous job, it was, “something's not working”. Well, screens are usually pretty dumb, right? If the playback is not working, that may be a different story, or it's often like a hiccup in the crash drone or whatever the control system may be, and having that first line of defense as an integrator who's down the block, perhaps. It's a lot more valuable for me than to ship my team to Brazil, ship my team to Korea, or ship my team to Qatar. You mentioned your previous work and experience and so on. I was aware of you when you were working for an LED company. What is your background in this industry?  Chanan Averbuch: So I really started 13+ years ago with Primeview, and there I started as a Regional Sales Manager, then Business Development Manager, then VP, then SVP, then EVP. I was initially just trying to provide for my family. I guess it was like, it was a trunk slammer or whoever it may be. I tried to do business with you when I first started. I just had to put numbers on, and then as things evolved in 2017 and coming to 2018, I was able to pioneer the all-in-one space back in 2018 out of a sheer lack of resources, to be honest with you, on an engineering side. It was funny how that evolved. But the all-in-one category is something that, I'm very pleased to say, had some of my first, with Microsoft, with Citigroup, and some really substantial clients, and then as that all-in-one category evolved and from indoor to outdoor to 32:9, that's when all of a sudden I started realizing, wait when we get out of the 16:9, what happens to the content? How does that work? And that sort of just blew my mind, this whole content space, and I started developing that further, and that thesis when working closely with digital artists, and I have some amazing projects that are about to go live now within Blue Square X, where a lot of times we're getting pulled into projects where we're not even involved in the LED. We're not even evolving the playback. We're just doing the content, and if I could quote one of my great friends in the industry, Britton Gates from Newcomb and Boyd, he always asked me previously, and we're going to be doing this now: if there are so many people out there that could use help, Even if you're not doing the lead, are you willing to do that? And the short answer is yes. I want to help people create experiences, even if They're not buying our LED today.  Yeah, you could make the argument that the content side of the business is more interesting and easier on a company just because you're not having to worry about shipping and everything else associated with the hard technology. Chanan Averbuch: Oh, a hundred percent. I think the same line of logic would imply that if it's an inferior quality LED, and it's just like another OEM, it could also make my content look bad. So I can take from personal example, I was traveling this past week for a very high-end install that our team was doing, and in part of the travels, I remember going through the journey of talking about what the content is, and once we figured out that it had to be not SDR, but HDR, our team had to get on a frantic and run 32 cables instead of 16, right? So talking through the content strategy early on also impacts infrastructure, not just hardware, really. I anticipate that almost everything that you're going to see from 2024 and beyond is going to be HDR on the experiential side. Everything, because the blacks and the grays, it's day and night.  And what does that mean for existing deployments out there?  Is HDR backward-compatible, so to speak, or do you either have an HDR display or you don't? Chanan Averbuch: Good question. I think when you think back two years ago when people started really talking about HDR on the commercial side, not consumer, but on the commercial side, I think you had people talking about HDR, talking about what they call HDR-ready. This means some of the components can potentially work with HDR, but to go and truly retrofit or change the hardware to now be able to be HDR is not as simple as one may think, even though the marketing materials on that spec may have said previously HDR-ready, it's not truly HDR. So I think in reality, retrofitting certain sites to be HDR is going to be difficult. I think they're gonna have to understand that SDR is what they bought and it's either they upgrade all their hardware to go and be able to truly be compatible with HDR or they're gonna have to just settle and stick to SDR today, as sad as that may be. What would that mean? It's not like SDR is going to look bad. It's just HDR is going to look really good.  Chanan Averbuch: Correct. I think even if you look at consumer playback devices as simple as an Apple TV, right? Even Apple TV today is HDR-ready, and it really can play back HDR, but like we're doing now a significant amount of work in the home theater business, it's not a business that I was actually pursuing, and I'm now seeing these massive home theater projects with commercial integrators. Yes, they're residential integrators, but they're sometimes bigger than commercial projects, these home theaters.  I had to go down the rabbit hole of what a Kaleidoscope is and what real HDR playback is and cinema-quality playback. So really only once you're in this space and focused on delivering the high-end quality do you understand all these little peripheral devices for playback and content are so significant in the ecosystem. But unless you're in it, you don't know it.  One of the things that I concluded walking around ISE at the front of the year, and then Ifocomm again, was that the LED display market has matured to a point where just about everything looks really good. Yes, some companies come over from China with, purposefully, low-cost, material that looks crappy, even when it's optimized on our trade show floor. But in general, the stuff all looks really good. It's all sub one mil now and everything else. Have we hit the peak of this? Where does it go?  Chanan Averbuch: Great question. So I think to your point, I think when you talk about what's market has called mini-LED or COB or some of these more standard technologies today, the COB at a 0.7 look really freaking good. But even within those LEDs, the differentiator between HDR and really great quality scan rates that what I would say is considered broadcast quality or production quality or luxury retail quality, there's a differentiator in the market at that point, because one is good enough, and the other one is truly providing a higher level of experience, and what that means is the quality of the components.  So on a simple level, you have Nova Star, A6, A8, A10, et cetera, right? You have all the different Nova Star receiving cards, for example. The different receiving cards produce different quality results and have a higher level of spec. That's definitely the case for the mass market. I think there are ways to build materials to change things, and then there are also certain instances where having a higher brightness panel or LED bulb is great. Sometimes it's not good. You have to know the real application because it generates different heat. But in that instance, we've gotten certain projects now in the last few months where having a higher nit bulb helped. We have instances where they wanted a lower nit bulb because they wanted to not have to redo their infrastructure and energy and power, right? So they were repurposing LCD and they wanted to stay with LEDs and if they had gone with a higher bulb, they would have had the max power draws where you require more power.  But on the evolution of LED itself, COG, chip on glass, that's something that's going to be coming out soon. There are some other new things within the LED world we're about to be launching a product that's almost like an x-ray where you're able to print patterns on an LED and shine through it, but at a high resolution, not low resolution like you see on the market today. So there are definitely innovative ways of producing technology where just imagine a Calcutta marble, finish backdrop, and we print that Calcutta marble on a physical LED, and you're able to still protrude through it with a high brightness bulb LED. So there's a lot of these technologies that are about to come to market that we're working on, but it's from an innovative standpoint, not everyone else is doing it. How do we just be cheaper? It's what's the experience that we're trying to create, and then how do we solve that in a way that has never been done before. So when you talk about chip on glass, are you talking about micro LEDs?  Chanan Averbuch: Correct.  That is a horribly abused and misused term.  Chanan Averbuch: Yep. I try to shy away from the specifics of talking about COB GOB or SMD. I honestly try to focus on what's your environment, what are you trying to do? I'm fixing other people's problems now, just not on the content, but where someone sold SMD in a public space that should have been COB and in other environments where it should have been GOB to pretty protective solution. Like I just saw a curved LED that was so chewed up, I told the end user, you may consider replacing it completely. And he goes, with what? I said with a glue-on-board version, because otherwise you have to protect this thing, because it'll look like crap.  Through the years, I have seen some SMD stuff in public spaces and I thought, what in God's name were you thinking? Did you somehow magically believe that nobody was going to scrape this thing?  Chanan Averbuch: But in truth, it's not just about specifying the wrong technology. A lot of things that we're doing now at Blue Square X is because we realize other people didn't do it, and it's not just about the content or the software side. It's also about the trim kit the cladding and the framing. For example, one of my friends I was talking to at Leon Speakers, where we talked about the idea of hashtag framing every TV.  The idea of framing every TV is not just so that it looks aesthetically pleasing in a residential environment or in your conference room. It's also to protect it to a large extent. So when I think about framing, there was a project recently, it was comical that we recently lost ironically. And I thought it was great that we lost it. My partner was like, what do you mean we've lost it? I said I'm so happy we lost it. He goes, why? I said because the other guy is putting a product that's going to get destroyed in this environment because there are no protective elements in the backside, and it's IP-65 front-rated. IP-54 in the back and they're putting this in the harshest environment, humanly possible. I'm happy that my name's not on that. So framing every TV, trim kit, cladding, mounting, and protecting the LED is equally as important as the technology that you're going to use. But people don't think about those things. I want to get the project. I want the box. That's not smart business  I wonder if the market is now at a point where it's like buying a high-end vehicle in that the salesperson can go on and on about what's under the hood and the typical buyer just doesn't care and in the same way, they don't care really whether it's COB or what controller is used or any of that stuff.  They just want to know how good is it going to look, does it suits my needs and what's the budget.  Chanan Averbuch: So I think you're definitely getting more to the commoditized point of the marketplace, which is where I think you're going to see several players disappear. It's already starting to happen. Hence the reason why I've always focused more on what it's supposed to create and what it's supposed to feel like, how much you're supposed to be immersed, which is why it's content first, software second, LED third in our world, and then trim kit, cladding, framing to follow for that same reason. It really comes down to how do you not just differentiate yourself, but how do you actually demonstrate that difference. Having the right content obviously helps, having the right software helps, having the right LED helps, but one of the things that we're going to be investing heavily in on a national level to start within the US with Miami, then New York, then Chicago, Austin, then LA is physical experience centers throughout the US and that will be going global as well in the near future.  What I'd like to do is when a client from a sports team a luxury retailer or a real estate developer, whatever it may be, wants to see the product, Yes, I could do a Zoom. I can do a Microsoft team, whatever it may be, but I will, on my dime, fly you into one of my experience centers on my dime and I am a hundred percent confident that the tech stack between the content, the software, and the lead will be noticeably different when you come to the experience centers, noticeably, it'll be a finished product, a true turnkey, a real solution.  Now, the devil's advocate side of that, if I'm a buyer, this is a highly controlled environment where you're able to think about everything ahead of my visit and optimize the whole nine yards versus operating in the real world where power can be shaky. There's public, there's ambient lighting, and everything else that can play into it. How do you counterbalance people like me who walk in and say, yeah, but…  Chanan Averbuch: Great example, I just spent $20,000 to do a massive outdoor demo for one of our clients, and we did the demo at one o'clock in the afternoon at the harshest moment, exactly where the sun was hitting strongest. And you explained that?  Chanan Averbuch: Oh yeah, and he intentionally chose the spot, that was the harshest spot, where it's direct sunlight. I'm like, gentlemen, how do you think this looks? And they told me how it looked and they were pleased, obviously, I said, this is the worst it's ever going to look. He goes, what? He didn't understand what I meant. I'm like, you chose the most sun exposure, like the worst. If you think this looks good, it only gets better from here, and I explained to them why, and they're like, got it. But I spent $20,000 on that demo to do it the right way. So I agree with your thesis and what you're saying about that in a controlled environment, but with that said, in our experience centers in our showrooms, we have a complete AV system, multiple sources, multiple HDR sources, and multiple cable TV boxes. I could show four cable TV boxes. So if a Sports Park comes in here, like Dave and Busters, I could demonstrate that. If it's a home theater, I could show it with surround sound, Dolby quality, as well as HDR with the collide escape. I could show. Exactly in an indoor environment. Yes, but outdoors? Absolutely. There are environments where you have to put it outdoors and do the real stress test. No question.  So if you're going to market as an LED manufacturer and your marketing focus is on: here are all of our technical specs for all of our different pixel pitches and this and that, and basically blind the person at the other end, the buyer with all of this flurry of buzzwords and jargon, does that work anymore? It strikes me that the LED market is now somewhat commoditized.  Chanan Averbuch: So frankly, you're a hundred percent correct. I'm not focused on the tech specs of the LED whatever.  Does the customer care about it?  Chanan Averbuch: I think there are some exceptions in the market. There's an artist that I'm working with who really understands the technical spectrum. They understand color parameters. They understand DCI like some of them understand this stuff, but that's like the 1%. But the 1%loves us because we're able to produce, and deliver those exact results.  But to your point, the conversations we're having are very different in the sense that for example, we just closed a deal with a major sports team. They originally wanted a 3:3 LCD. I said to them, I'll work with you on pricing to get you to the LED world. Because I know for a fact, the LCD is the wrong approach for your application. You're going to be doing spreadsheets, and you have a bezel in between, and now bear in mind, that Blue Square, the parent company, has a ton of LCD business that we do with Samsung, right? On Blue Square X, we want to make sure that if the requirement is there to do an LED, then it should be there, and the reason why we're able to successfully take a 3:3 or 4:4 and turn it into a lead project is that we're asking the right questions. We're educating, not just the marketing person, not just the facilities director, not just the branding team, but everyone along the way is saying: Where's your seat? Where's the closest viewer? What's your content strategy? We're not asking about the LED. We're talking about what the actual application is. Because you're right, in a commoditized environment, what's the difference between the first 30 Google searches they come up with an LED? It's hard to differentiate. But those other 30 companies are not asking those questions. They don't want to. They just want to move boxes.  Yeah, they just want to know how much wall space there is. Chanan Averbuch: That's it. But they're not asking about content playback. They're not asking if have you partnered with Novari, or do you have experience with with Samsung's MagicInfo. They're not asking the right questions because that requires education and training, that requires industry experience.  Now with Blue Square X, do you have preferred manufacturing partners or are you getting your own led custom manufactured by white label or how does that end of it work?  Chanan Averbuch: Great question. So we are day one, day two, and day a hundred, and from here on out, focus on the premium side. So nothing that's off the shelf in the market is of interest to us. Nothing that exists today on the LED production line is of interest whatsoever.  We are designing specs for the higher end of the spectrum. That's where we want to be. So our LED partners are not people I've worked with in my previous role or others, it's, I would say, the higher-end side of specs and therefore we are designing to our needs from day one. So it's definitely custom spec to something that's not available to the mass market.  So does that mean you're doing the technical design over in the United States and then getting it a contract manufactured by a high-end production line, probably in China or Taiwan? Chanan Averbuch: And Mexico as well. Yeah.  Oh really, in Mexico?  Chanan Averbuch: For TAE purposes. It is a market for governments as well.  Interesting, and on the Mexico side, is it final assembly or are they manufacturing the LED?  Chanan Averbuch: So there is some manufacturing done here, and assembly. So there are certain components, obviously, that don't make financial sense to do complete production here. It really depends on what the next president of the United States looks like because I think that'll determine some of the taxation side of things and how tariffs come into play. So we're just ultimately preparing for the doomsday scenario and the ideal scenario simultaneously. How do you deal with the cost end of it? It sounds like you're going after premium clients, is cost not as big an issue if you can, as you said much earlier on, really go after the ROI model and what the real benefits are?  Chanan Averbuch: While I definitely believe in my heart of hearts, price is only an issue in the absence of value, at the end of the day, the clients that we're talking to understand that there's a way to hit something that should be a $100 and pay $60, and there's a way that if you get the $60 solution, it's not going to look or perform like a $100 product either. We communicate the values of both extremes. Like we'll go and say to the customer, if you want to get this $100 solution, I don't feel comfortable giving you the $60 solution. But if you only have the $60 solutions, this is what it looks like, and what we'll try to do is we'll offer the financing option as an OPEX model so that they don't have to get to that, I don't want to say it, but the crappier option, the lesser quality. We'll gladly take the OPEX model and work with them so that way it fits within their budget because I wouldn't want a lesser experience for myself. Why would I want that for my clients?  Is that an increasing demand these days? Can you help with the financing on this?  Chanan Averbuch: So, I think it's coming up more. Is it actually translating to the numbers or percentages that I thought? No, they're not, but it's evolving and growing in the markets. I'll give you an example. If someone is in the car wash industry, okay, and they're used to doing static signage, and now they're trying digital to jump from zero digital CapEx expense to spending half a million dollars. It's hard to get approvals for, but now if you break that down to $5,000 a month or $8,000 a month over three years, whatever it may be, all of a sudden it looks a lot more palatable.  So I think it depends where the organization, where the institution, and where the non-profit is in their experience with digital and how their internal approval process works. Now there's a harsh environment, car washes.  Chanan Averbuch: Oh, it's so much fun. So much fun. We went to the car wash show in Nashville and I'll tell you the most amazing thing that I discovered. The ones that don't get it, get burnt usually. So I wish them only the best.  Tell me about the company. Where is it based?  Chanan Averbuch: Blue Square X is based in South Florida. Home of no state income tax here in Miami, and the market is actually a bit on fire here on a regional level where others say the real estate markets are slowing down, Central Florida, Northern Florida, and South Florida has not slowed down just even a bit. Velocity here is amazing. This is our home base for us but we're about to finalize a few other locations here in the US as we speak.  What's the size of the company, both, Parent and, just the X side? Chanan Averbuch: Under 20 employees currently at this moment, but we're hiring and growing rapidly.  For Blue Square X?  Chanan Averbuch: Yep. And for Blue Square itself?  Chanan Averbuch: So it's hard to say right now because some of the resources are shared at the moment. But that's obviously been a change from the install professional services and the creative side, again, we're very focused on the creative side more so than anything else.  But one of the partners also is very strong in the rental and staging business and has a whole plethora of warehousing and service support models throughout the US so we have that extra tier of support from one of the partners. Chanan Averbuch: Oh yeah. But as you alluded to, the ROI is there if you're trying to evoke an emotion or an experience, that's what we care about. We want people to walk away from a retail experience, from a school, from a broadcast studio, from a control room, from a real estate and say, holy cow, how did you see that? It has to be Instagrammable. It has to be something that creates that wow moment. We want to create those wow moments.  All right. Peyton Gay is the sentinel for the Deane Bozeman FFA Chapter, and he is a remarkable young man.  A natural athlete, gifted student and very hard worker Peyton has managed to put together an FFA and high school experience that will be rivaled by few. Peyton has grown up on his grandparent's farm in Northern Florida that they purchased because of their love for animals of all types.  Never having a profit motive, Peyton's grandmother has cared for and rescued multiple different species of wildlife and livestock on the farm since it first began.  This is how Peyton grew up as well, and it led to his supervised agricultural experience raising, incubating and giving away Sebastopol Geese, which are listed as a threatened species. This influence has resulted in Peyton pursuing a career as a veterinarian.  He is also pursuing his dream of playing football for Texas A&M in College Station.  He has been awarded a "walk on scholarship" which means that all of his football activities will be paid for but not his academics.  However, Peyton believes that through his academics and pursuits in the FFA that he will be able to have a full-ride academic scholarship!  It is an amazing story and one that I am really looking forward to seeing develop from an academic as well as an athletic perspective.

I mean its clear—they are intent on destroying America once and for all—and it seems quite clear and likely that it is Barack Obama and his minions that are just out of sight, behind the curtain and pulling the strings to make their puppets dance—they have the connections, the money and the influence to keep the hacks in DC doing their bidding—I mean when you hear me say, this seems a lot like Barack Obama's third term—there is a reason for that—   BUT for Joe Biden and whoever is pulling the strings—those strings are beginning to fray—because they have gone to the well too much it seems—   I mean when they go after America's Energy supply and gas prices rise—people don't like it—   When they begin the fear pandering over the 100th new variant—and people see mask mandates for school kids and universities coming back, they don't like it—   When they see people going to prison if they are Republican and getting charges dropped if they are liberals or Democrats—we don't like it—   When they know the border is wide open with millions of people streaming in—that are being housed in pplaces like Chicago's once famed O'Hare international airport—they don't like it—   When they see places like Maui and Northern Florida struggling in the aftermath of disasters—BUT we are sending $200 billion dollars to Ukraine—they don't like it—   And when they have seen enough—they get angry—because when they see America being put last instead of America First—they have had it—because they really don't like it—   And right now—the polls are showing how much we don't like Joe Biden, the people behind the curtain, the bureaucrats, the lobbyists and the globalists all trying to get an upper hand—   In fact here is one that really sets people off—tying money intended to help American's with disaster relief—BUT instead of just going ahead with it—Joe and the socialists play games—to get more money for a foreign country first—and refusing to help out our own neighbors without strings attached—   Which leads to even more people becoming angry—and let me be perfectly clear—this is becoming a bipartisan issue—because people on both sides of the aisle—plus independents, agnostics, libertarians and the otherwise unaffiliated political refugees—are all rejecting the laundry list of failures—and then figure in the scandals that they try to deny exist—BUT everyone clearly knows certainly do—   So what does that mean—as Hunter Biden's once in a lifetime sweetheart deal has faded into a distant foggy memory—something his dad is ever more familiar with—or is he not familiar??? Hmmmm—I will have to think about that one—   Either way—nothing is helping and the ship is listing badly—   But there is always the economy, right? I mean we hear Joe and his team of propaganda minsters spreading the good news of how great everything is, right? I mean it must be working to convince people that we are on the right track and headed to financial salvation…right? No, not so much!   And some of the issues have become so bad—that Democrats are turning on the geezer—   I mean the border has Democrats in New York City and Massachusetts declaring emergencies—because they have been overwhelmed—and Joe just goes back to sleep—   So what are the Democrats banking on for 2024? It seems that a Covid Pandemic is what we need around here—so they are relaunching Covid 3.0—and I am sure that will make everyone happy—right?

Melissa Stevens Dad finally agreed to go fishing with her so she could finally show him what she does for a living. Her Dad happened to show me some photos when he returned, and I was blown away.  OMG!  I've never seen any woman reel in fish this big! I had to meet her. Melissa will tell you herself she's not the only woman out there fishing at this level, she's just the only one I know about. I am aware that more women than ever are taking up fishing and that's a good thing. Research shows women who fish are happier and healthier. If that's the case Melissa must be freakin ecstatic.   The fish she caught when her Dad went along was a Swordfish weighing about 90 to 110 pounds and was about 6 ½ feet tall from the tip of his tail to the end of the bill.  Yes, this woman catches fish much bigger than she is. The fish in the shot of her leaning back on the boat, the photo with blood all over the bottom of the boat (gag me) is a large tuna. Then there's that a 302-pound swordfish she's posed with. And a shot with her posing with what looks to me like a giant goldfish. Those are American Red Snappers. Melissa said the biggest fish she ever caught on a rod and reel personally, was roughly a 900 pound bluefin tuna out of a fishery in Nova Scotia where they were not permitted to remove them from. And the largest fish she ever caught commercial fishing, working on a commercial boat, was... a 940 pound swordfish!   I asked her. “How the heck do you even pull these fish with your arms? "I mean, what kind of unusual strength do you have?”  “Most of my strength” , said Melisa,  “comes from pure stubbornness.”  I'm was left speechless seeing what Melissa has been doing for a living for the past 14 years, and I had to wonder, what would inspire a young woman to go in this direction? Melissa said, “Mom and I grew up watching a lot of this sport fishing on television, most specifically a show called Walker's Kay Chronicles. It's the show that really started off sport fishing in the public eye. And I always wanted to be on the boat my whole life and instead of taking the traditional route after high school, I dug my heels in and I went fishing.” So yes, Melissa's gone fishing and living her dream! I too loved watching sport fishing shows as little girl, and I too am living my dream, telling other peoples fish tales.  LOL Oh and Melissa's 'quite the catch herself', but dating her means you'll have to understand she smells like a fish a lot. LOL We laughed about that. Melissa is from CT, lives in Fla. and fishes often in Venice, Louisiana. If you want to go fishing with her, which many people do, you can book a fishing trip with her at Southern Catch Outfitters in Venice, Louisiana. Melissa says, "People come from all over the world come to fish in Venice." Most of their customer basis is from the Gulf Coast area, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Northern Florida, just because it is a very easy drive. But she said, they're only an hour and 15 minutes from New Orleans airport and there is a direct flight from LaGuardia Airport in NY right there. They're being encouraged to get out there, fish more. I don't know if you guys know any women who fish. I don't know many. I love the idea of it. I don't bait and I don't like getting in the way of a big fish coming on board. But, you know, I like the idea of it. I saw a photo of a girl. I'll call her a woman because she is a young beautiful woman, that blew my head. I was like, what am I looking at here? She was holding a catch of a day that was bigger than any fish I've ever seen. I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. And then it just kept going on, picture after picture after picture of this woman, young woman, catching gigundo fish. Like she is the girl that all the guys want to fish with. And I happened to see the picture because I know her dad. And he had just returned from the first time he ever went fishing with her. He said, she said, Dad, why don't you come fishing? So Melissa Stevens is supposed to be joining me today. I don't know if she's still in the water, on the sea, wherever she is. She's definitely checking in. Bob, you stay alert. Hopefully she's supposed to be on the air. Staying alert. Okay. I mean, you just don't mess with a girl who can lift a fish this big. I just can't believe your eyes. I used to watch Wide World of Fishing when I was a young girl. It was on Sunday mornings after like, I don't know, there was nothing on Sunday mornings. It was just like a wide world of fishing. It was always that opened up with an icon and a brand image of a giant swordfish. A big swordfish. I thought that I should do that. I thought I should catch a giant swordfish. Maybe it was a marlin. I don't know. It looked the same to me. I know they're not the same, but that's what I started my day with on Sunday, as a little chubby little girl, like, oh, this is cool. And I imagined myself sitting there trying to do it. One time I did get a chance to go on a boat in Florida and sit in what they call kind of like a, almost like a shark catching sulky, if you will. You know, a big fish sulky that's on the back of a boat and facing out, you get strapped in. 3 0:03:29 It's like, wow! 1 0:03:30 Caught nothing, but I felt like it. Like I felt I had the experience. But what this woman does is beyond. So hopefully she'll be coming up shortly. It led me to do some homework really about fishing and the psychology of it and in particular the research has shown that women should really look into this. It has a very profound impact on a woman's life, fishing and boating. The senior director of marketing for an organization that I just found out about today is really out there. It's called Take Me Fishing. What they're trying to do is confront the barriers and inspire women everywhere to challenge themselves, to try something new, to help them find their best self while supporting a more inclusive fishing and boating environment. Despite record levels of female participation in fishing, almost half of the female anglers do not feel respected by the broader angling community, with more than one in three feeling stereotyped, right? 9 0:04:28 Hey, Deb, how about we let Melissa tell us about it herself? 1 0:04:32 She's right here now. Oh, thank. She got off the boat to call me? Thank goodness. Melissa Stevens, you, you, you unbelievable girl, you. I am like bowing down. Hi, welcome. Hello, thank you. Thank you for having me on. I appreciate it. Honestly, I've been a champion of women doing everything since I was born. I was always like, what can't we do? Why can't we do it? But I was just starting to talk about how there's a campaign to get more women fishing and that there's sort of been a stereotype, I guess, about women not having the presence in the fishing industry. So when I saw this picture that your father showed me, he goes, I just got back from seeing my daughter. We went out fishing. I was like, what am I looking at? And there you were with a giant how big was that swordfish? The one we caught the other day with my dad was about a between we never weighted it but about 90 to 110 pounds. And how tall was it you know I saw it over your head over your father's head. Yeah. How high did it get? 2 0:05:34 Probably about 6 1⁄2 foot on that fish. I couldn't believe it. 1 0:05:40 That's from the tip of his tail to the end of the bill. Melissa, you brave girl. The second picture I put up is you leaning back on the boat with a fish bigger than you, kind of blood all over the bottom of the boat. I'm assuming it's that large. What kind of fish? 2 0:05:53 I haven't looked at it, but I'm assuming it's that large tuna. 1 0:05:56 Yeah, that looks like a large tuna. And then you sent me a picture, you told me I had permission to use, of another fish that, I don't know, I never saw anything this big, is that another swordfish? 2 0:06:08 Oh, that's a 302-pound swordfish. 1 0:06:13 And then those big, looks like giant goldfish, what are those? 2 0:06:17 Those are American red snappers. 1 0:06:21 It's just, I'm speechless seeing what you do. What was it in your life that led you to doing this very fortunately I live my childhood dream. 2 0:06:40 Mom I grew up watching a lot of this sport fishing on television most specifically a show called Walker's Kay Chronicles. It's really, it was the show that really started off sport fishing in the public eye. Wow. And I always wanted to be on the boat my whole life and instead of taking the traditional route after high school, I dug my heels in and I went fishing. I just think it's incredible. You missed the park. 1 0:07:15 Yeah, I used to watch fishing shows too. That's why I really was attracted to what you're doing. I mean, I used to fantasize about doing what you're doing. I don't know where that came from. It was the only show on Sunday morning, Wild World of Fishing. But you're doing it. Are you one of the few women catching fish this big? At this point in my career, I am not. 2 0:07:37 In the beginning, there was probably about overall four of us in the entire community that were fishing at this level. In the last five years, it has really become more available for women. Yeah, maybe more, more than a month. I've never really, I've never been in it to be a martyr for women. I've never been in it to pound the way and pave the road. So, there's always been space for women in this career if you've been willing to put your head down and work hard. That is really the only way to get, the only way to get far in this career is to dedicate your life to it and show everybody around you how good you are. 1 0:08:30 Unbelievable. 2 0:08:31 There's no... no pictures do the justice. Now I know you're from Greenwich but you moved to Florida but you fished a lot in Venice, Louisiana. Is that where the big action is? 2 0:08:47 My current home port of fishing is Venice. I have been very fortunate that my career has taken me around most of the globe and I have done some of the best fishing on earth. But as far as consistency and truly just incredible nature, Venice, Louisiana is one of the most impressive fishing destinations that I have ever been to in my life. Which is why I chose to stay there for a while. 1 0:09:20 And the water is of the Gulf of Mexico. I can see that just from the way you're catching, who would even know that it existed? You know, I love fascinating personalities, right? People who are unique, doing unique things. And I happen to come across a photo of this guest right now that I'm enjoying meeting, Melissa Stevens, when her dad showed me a picture of him going fishing with her for the first time. And she's like next to these gigantic, like world record size fish. And I wanted to invite her on the show, introduce her to you guys, tell you where you can find her because they, she and her cohorts actually take people out on charters to go fish with them in Venice, Louisiana. You're going to want to know about this if you're into this sort of thing. So, Melissa, are you breaking world records with what I'm seeing you catch this year? 2 0:11:23 Oh man, Debbie, I wish that I was, but I am not. I am not. The hope is that we can get close and try to push the limits of what we can catch where we are, but that's the cool thing about being on the water it could happen anywhere at any time so every day we're hunting for them but I have yet to put a legitimate world record. I mean what what's the heaviest fish you ever pulled up? The heaviest fish that I've ever caught on a rod and reel personally myself is about a 900 pound bluefin tuna out of a fishery in Nova Scotia where we were not permitted to remove them from 8 0:12:06 the water. 2 0:12:07 So that's an approximation of about 900 pounds. And the largest fish I've ever caught commercial fishing, working on a commercial boat, was a 940 pound swordfish. How do you even pull this with your arms? I mean, what kind of strength do you have? I was reading this morning that... 2 0:12:43 Handling fish of that size is heavily technique-driven, not so much a strength thing as far as it is understanding how to handle it. 1 0:12:53 Yeah, so say you catch a 900 pound fish, how many people do you need on the boat with you to help you pull it up into the boat? 2 0:13:02 With the right equipment it could be two of us, but if we don't have that it could take quite a few, five, six people. 1 0:13:09 Wow. And then you know, tuna is in high demand obviously as is swordfish and when you catch giant tuna and we'll talk about tuna let's stick with that what is the market for that like are people 2 0:13:22 clamoring to get their hands on it? So as of right now my current job is solely charter fishing the fish that we catch during the day goes home with the 1 0:13:31 customer and usually they slide a piece of the water. I've never tasted anything. Swordfish, you know, that's not on as many menus as it used to be. 2 0:13:46 What's going on with the swordfish out there? The sword fishery is as good as it's ever been. There has been a lot of restrictions placed on some of the commercial boats, specifically the longliners, on where they can fish. So the frequency in which they've been sword fishing and catching them for the commercial longline boats because of where they're allowed to fish has kind of hampered the amount of swordfish that they've been catching. But also, swordfish do contain a very high level of mercury. And that will scare some people away. But that 90 to 120 pound range fish that my father and I caught, you could eat that all 1 0:14:35 day with not the worry of the mercury. So interesting. What about seasickness? What you guys do all day long? How do you do that? I fortunately in the last almost 15 years have never been seasick. 7 0:14:52 Good. 2 0:14:53 But I have been graced with the opportunity to watch thousands of people to get seasick. 1 0:14:59 Gosh, that's the worst. 2 0:15:02 Depending on the customer, we don't really, there's nothing you can really do. Seasickness, you can kind of tell usually before we leave the dock even who's going 6 0:15:12 to get seasick. 2 0:15:13 It's very mentally driven. Now there are a group of people who just cannot handle any kind of motion. My brother is one of those people specifically where we could be in the car and the car could swerve funny and he could get sick. But most people the seasickness comes from hyping it up in their head that they're going to get seasick. Wow. Okay. There is some things you can do in order to, you know, stave it off, but once it happens, it's very hard to shake it until we get to 1 0:15:48 land. Okay, let's not talk about that anymore, because even the thought of people getting nauseous makes me nauseous, Melissa. I can't even talk about it. Yes, but that, but I'm 2 0:15:57 trying to say is that that thought in your mind is what will drive it in the first place. 1 0:16:03 Okay, we're done with that topic. Let's talk about the blood that comes out of the fish. I can't look at blood. How do you look at all that blood? 2 0:16:09 Oh, I tell our customers that my Captain John has a duty to fulfill my daily bloodlust and that we gotta go catch some fish. So for me, it is a byproduct of the joy of fishing and I could not possibly care less about it. 1 0:16:26 How many days a week do you eat fish after doing all this fishing? I eat little fish pieces with tuna blood every day. Oh gosh. Did you hear what my question? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cut you off. How many days do you eat fish after all this fishing? How many days a week do I eat fish? 2 0:16:39 Yeah. Oh, probably one or two days because you have to mix it up a little bit. It would be too much if I ate fish every single day. 1 0:16:50 Right. But there's people who do that. And I know that it's obviously one of the healthier things to do. 2 0:16:55 My captain's mother is a pescatarian. All she eats is fish. So every few months we ship her a box. Pescatarian. 1 0:17:03 Nice and new where we brought into this century. I don't think they had pescatarians. Maybe they did. They just didn't call it that. So who's coming to rent these charters? Where are people coming from? 2 0:17:18 If you have any knowledge of great fishing and you know Venice, we have people coming from all over the world. Most of our customer basis is from the Gulf Coast area, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Northern Florida, just because it is a very easy drive. But that being said we are only an hour and 15 minutes from New Orleans airport and there is a direct flight from LaGuardia right there. So we do have quite a few customers from the tri-state area that join us. 1 0:17:51 Wow, you have full day offshore fishing and overnights that I guess you start out and you're there surprising the fish when they wake up? 2 0:18:00 We leave the dock about noon, we get back about noon the next day. 1 0:18:04 Yeah. Are there some fish that are easier to catch at night? 2 0:18:11 Not particularly, but sometimes the bite at night can get really fired up. And a lot of people like the overnight experience. We bring the grill, you know, we make burgers on the boat. 1 0:18:27 It's really more of an experience than specifically for the fishing. Yes. I have friends and people I know who are avid fisher people and travel all over the world. They seek out the next great fishing adventure. So when I saw what you were catching, I was like, wow, if anybody sees what I'm going to post who likes this, they're going to be calling you ASAP. So I wanted to just promote who you are associated with because it's called Southern Catch Outfitters and they're in Venice, Louisiana. And I never heard of Venice, Louisiana as the fishing location, but after seeing what you caught, I'm like, okay, obviously this is the place, right? And of course- 2 0:19:07 It is truly remarkable. Not a very beautiful place to stay in actual Venice. That is for sure. A lot of oil industry, very commercialized, not a lot of people. No supermarket. There's one dollar general and that's about it. But we can help people find places to stay. There's houseboats. We pick you right up in the marina from the deck of the houseboat. And we have two boats, 40 foot center console catamaran style boats that can hold up to six passengers each and It's about a 10 to 12 hour day and in total But the great part about Venice as opposed to fishing in other places in the Gulf Coast is that it's a peninsula And you're already 60 miles in the correct direction 1 0:19:54 Awesome, so Melissa a couple last questions. When somebody comes in with a giant tuna, 600 pounds, 700 pounds, whatever, do you cut it up right there on the boat? Do you fillet it? 2 0:20:09 We take care of all of the processing up to the point of we don't vacuum seal it or we'll put it in ziplocks, but we take care of all that breaking down of the fish for you. We do it in the marina. We have to bring the fish in whole. If unfortunately we got pulled over by wildlife on the way in, you have to have the fish in one piece in order for them to measure them. So once we get in, we load it up in a cart, bring it down to the cleaning station, we cut the fillets off, we chunk it up and send you home with it in a cooler. 1 0:20:47 You are the coolest girl I've met, I swear, in a long time. What about that swordfish-like sword beak? What's that used for? So, while the fish is alive or after the fact? I don't know, I'm just scared of it. What do you do with it? You should be scared of it. 2 0:21:03 That's why it's called the swordfish because they are sharp on the side and they use that and when the swordfish is at the bottom, it lives in the bottom in the dark. They use that bill to basically kill their prey and then come back up to it and then eat it. So they whack at the fish, they can even cut one up, they can cut up a fish with their bill. Now after this is back once we've taken the fish apart, um, I do a process of cleaning the bill where macerate it, get all the meat and fat out of it and then cleanse it and whiten it and I hang them on the wall. 1 0:21:45 Why did I know you were going to say something creative like that? I kind of knew that was coming. And by the way, I can't believe I called it a beak. It's a bill. No, it's a bill or a beak. It's a bill. It's a bill. You know a little bit more than me. I think the last thing I want to ask you, or one of the last things is do you always smell like fish? If you're working around fish this much? I would say from about 4.30 in the morning to about 8 o'clock at night, yes. I smell like fish. And I tend to go like that on a date if I go on a first date because you either take 2 0:22:22 it or leave it that way. 1 0:22:25 You know, I didn't want to get personal, but since you volunteered, that is pretty darn funny that you said that. Are people intimidated who, you know, you're interested in maybe dating, that this is what you do, that you can catch 900 pound fish on a regular basis? 2 0:22:43 They think it's cool until I spend my time offshore with another man, and then they wonder 1 0:22:48 what I'm doing. S2 Episode 6: Rising Above the Rhythm of the Universe  Part One: November 2022  "Are you ok?" my good friend asked me on the phone a couple of days ago, and I couldn't answer him because I was holding back the tears of my grief. My greatest temptation took a huge piece of my heart with it.  I didn't want this post about Rhythm to be part two of Angel's traumatic relationship loss story, but I had to let that go because this is the story that happened, and it is a fine example of the pendulum swing in my life. It is also how I used my practice of service to others and meditation to neutralize it.  I have been awake but living a nightmare. The nightmare began the day I found out about her. The nightmare most recently came in the form of a social media profile picture. There, my alleged life partner was walking down the aisle in unholy matrimony with her, the other woman, his gut-wrenching secret, only three short months after I found out about her and thus, ended us.   This nightmare evokes a soul-crushing "what the fuck?!"   That moment, upon seeing the picture,I knew I had dodged a bullet of crazy. That the drama train left the station without me on it, I should be relieved, say good riddance, sayonara – I'm moving on without that weight of irresponsibility strapped to my ankle.  But the emotional me, the part that loved and believed in what their best friend shared with them, is crying her eyes out. A wounded and broken child experiencing betrayal of the most profound kind, the knife turning yet again in a deeply broken heart., "I don't want my choices to affect you," he said when I found out about her.   I wanted to stab him with my ceremonial Athame. But instead of committing premeditated murder, I told him I would be removing myself from this fucked up "friendship" so I could heal and no longer be subjected to his selfish and hurtful choices.   So the Law of Rhythm states, "Everything flows out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates."                                                                                    -The Kybalion  Because I know the hermetic principle, I haven't acted on "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Oh, I want to unblock his wife on Facebook and tell her all the ways he's lied to her, that her marriage is based on falsity, and that I curse them both to a life of unhappiness and complete lack of joy. But that action would result only in a dramatic rhythm swing reaction to the other way, bouncing back at me worse than any fury I can deliver in their direction.  Because that is the law – every action has a reaction, the tide goes out and the tide goes in. This is the Way.  Humans experience great joy; humans experience great sorrow (that is, if they have the capacity for it).  Now I've been grieving this relationship since August despite my best efforts to move on. And why? Because I didn't neutralize, I instead hung on to the attachment. I thought our civility, our friendship, was fulfilling a need of mine – and maybe, because of the continued lies on his part, I had some twisted hope that he'd come back to me after this misguided episode with the psycho bitch he cheated on me with. I just had to bide my time and do my work, and it would all work out. Instead, this was likely an extended denial of my grief at losing my lover and best friend without closure, explanation, or apology. I burned all his gifts to me in the temple at Burning Man, but it didn't cut the cord. And I kept getting pulled back in. So my poor heart was broken multiple times because I was unwilling to cut the cord.  Then I think of the joy and elation I experienced in the relationship. Laughter and dancing, sharing of Tarot, and Rune spreads the feeling that someone truly listened and understood me and accepted me no matter what. He was holding me up and supporting me unconditionally. I never had that ever before in a relationship.  A person willing to do their work, or so it seemed. Until it got hard, and they started drinking again.  Pendulum swing, great joy, great sorrow.  And even though I volunteered to give up my a normal life, for one of service and true joy, the ripping away of that, my greatest temptation, took a massive piece of my heart with it. And my grief is as if someone died. Because they did. the man who was my best friend and honorable lover is dead to me. The man that exists is a scared, hurt child, incapable of loving anyone.    All he could do was deflect, lie, and deny culpability.  Energy not worthy of my time, my effort – we are not in alignment.  I have to feel the grief without giving in to the rage and drama monster that wants to come out. And I have to declare boundaries to prevent myself from swimming into the toxic forgiveness pool to stay this man's friend.   Part Two: January 2023  Since writing part one, I've learned a couple of things.  One "Love Bombing" is what a narcissist does to reel you into their world and enlist you in their menagerie. Narcissists use people, and then they cast them aside when that need is fed, or you are used up, and they can't get what they want from you anymore.  My ex love-bombed me. Because he is a narcissist, and I fulfilled a need. He immediately enlisted me in his children's life. After all, he needed someone like me to care for them because he was functionally and emotionally abandoning them. I thought it was because he trusted me that he was so vulnerable, bringing me deep into his life so soon. But, no, I was just an easy target. I gave him the keys to how to manipulate me in our first 24 hours together, and he used them all.  Since cutting him off, he's tried to keep the lines of communication open – Communication for a space to vent, someone to loan him money, or a place to run away from his crazy new bride. On New Years, he asked me if he could store all his stuff with me so he could leave his wife, "the past few months have been tough for me," he said like the pathetic man-child he is. I could laugh at his level of ego; if I hadn't moved on, I would have been pulled right back onto his crazy train. But I let his pendulum swing without me in the equation. I told him he'd have to leave his wife without my help and this situation was not for me to be involved in. His lesson is to now manage his karma.  Shockingly, I have not heard from him since proving my narcissist theory. I'm discarded now because I offer nothing more to him. I'm not useful to his story of the victim.  As I'm now clear of his toxic tentacles, I've mourned the death of the person I was in love with. I'm now free of the swings of emotion, reclaimed my power, and neutralized the Rhythm of this negative vibration in my life.  How? prayer, meditation, ritual, truth-telling, patience, energy healing, service, literally moving across the country and starting over. Vitamin D is a cure for a lot of things, and the sunlight, quiet and rest of my new home in Northern Florida have given me perspective. But mostly, it's been the time, honesty, and forgiveness of myself that broke the pattern. So lovely humans, I hope to post another podcase before five months go by again. But in the meantime, please take the principles of Rhythm to heart. We cannot escape the tides of fate, but we can neutralize the drama train, the pendulum swing in our lives, by choosing to be above engagement. Today is another AMA episode (Ask Me Anything). Paul from Northern Florida asks. I would like to first thank you for your work on your show. Your broad range of subjects and guest has made this a daily must listen to program for me. So thank you again. I would like to ask your thoughts on product research for new residential construction projects. While I am not a developer nor do I want to become one I am in the process of selling my business and I want to do a couple of projects. I would like to build a couple of new homes for my children and myself. Over the years I have seen various products and systems used on shows such as This Old House and such. But when you would go to the local retail building supply retailers (Home Depot/Lowes) they would not have any knowledge of the systems. I have come to figure out sometime it is a regional product only. I live in Florida where temperatures are regularly 35c or 95*s and the humidity is very high. We have our own regional issues (hurricane wind speed requirements, mold issues, termites and such) and I know I am going to study building codes and practices to build something correctly. I have tried to gather information at non-retail building supply businesses as well as national construction trade shows but have been met with “you are not a licensed contractor” and we only deal with them. I have tried reaching out to the local regional builders association but they just refer you to a member that just wants to build the house and tend to lean on what is best and I assume profitable for their business. I can find basic stuff like ICF vs poured concrete, zip wrap vs traditional, various forms of insulating and thing like that but I want to dig further and see which is the most beneficial or how a new product may be a better fit. Since I am doing this for myself I don't want to base things on cost alone or what is the cheap and easy way of doing things. I will work with a licensed architect for the actual design and engineering aspects but I would like to do research and educate myself reasonably before I just randomly ask them for ideas. However, since I am not in the trade I am not sure where to find new product information or ideas that may be beneficial to my projects other than just searching on the internet for new building ideas.
