The most terrifying moment a human being could experience is to be found guilty before the Lord Jesus Christ, the Supreme Judge at the great White Throne Judgment, and then be cast into hell. Jesus makes it clear in the Bible that it is not just people who commit the act of murder who are in danger of judgment, but also those who have a murderous intent in the heart. This heart attitude begins with anger. The three forms of anger first come from a person's emotions, then progresses to the mind, and then finally it enters his heart. We all need to control our anger. Believers have the power of the Holy Spirit to do this but it's our choice whether we yield to Him or not. If we allow anger to go unchecked, it will only grow and evolve and eventually open the door to a demonic spirit, putting us in great danger. New Years 2024 Rosh Hashanah & a Christian New Years By Louie Marsh, 12-29-2024     Rosh Hashanah (Hebrew: רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה‎, lit. 'head of the year') is the New Year in Judaism. The biblical name for this holiday is Yom Teruah (יוֹם תְּרוּעָה‎, lit. 'day of shouting/blasting'). It is the first of the High Holy Days (יָמִים נוֹרָאִים‎, Yāmīm Nōrāʾīm, 'Days of Awe"), as specified by Leviticus 23:23–25, that occur in the late summer/early autumn of the Northern Hemisphere. Rosh Hashanah begins ten days of penitence culminating in Yom Kippur, as well as beginning the cycle of autumnal religious festivals running through Sukkot which end on Shemini Atzeret in Israel and Simchat Torah everywhere else.   “24“Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall present a food offering to the Lord.”” (Leviticus 23:24–25, ESV)   Rosh Hashanah is a two-day observance and celebration that begins on the first day of Tishrei, which is the seventh month of the ecclesiastical year. In contrast to the ecclesiastical lunar new year on the first day of the first month Nisan, the spring Passover month which marks Israel's exodus from Egypt, Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the civil year, according to the teachings of Judaism, and is the traditional anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve.   Rosh Hashanah customs include sounding the shofar (a hollowed-out ram's horn), as prescribed in the Torah, following the prescription of the Hebrew Bible to "raise a noise" on Yom Teruah. Eating symbolic foods that represent various wishes for the new year is an ancient custom recorded in the Talmud. Other rabbinical customs include the "tashlich", attending synagogue services and reciting special liturgy about teshuva, as well as enjoying festive meals.   Tashlikh or Tashlich (Hebrew: תשליך "cast off") is a customary Jewish atonement ritual performed during the High Holy Days on Rosh Hashanah. In some Judaeo-Spanish-speaking communities the practice is referred to as sakudirse las faldas ('to shake the flaps [of clothing]') or simply as faldas]   Practice The ritual is performed at a large, natural body of flowing water (e.g., river, lake, sea, or ocean) on the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, although it may be performed until Hoshana Rabbah. If the first day of Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbat, most Ashkenazim recite Tashlich on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, whereas most Sephardim recite it on the first day as normal. The national debt – which measures what the U.S. owes its creditors — hit $34 trillion as of Friday afternoon, according to new data published by the Treasury Department. By comparison, just four decades ago, the national debt hovered around $907 billion. "We are beginning a new year, but our national debt remains on the same damaging and unsustainable path," said Michael Peterson, CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, which advocates for fiscal sustainability. The historic debt level comes as Congress races to finalize critical funding bills in order to prevent a government shutdown. The national debt is expected to nearly double in size over the next three decades, according to the latest findings from the Congressional Budget Office. At the end of 2022, the national debt grew to about 97% of gross domestic product. Under current law, that figure is expected to skyrocket to 181% at the end of 2053 – a debt burden that will far exceed any previous level. "Though our level of debt is dangerous for both our economy and for national security, America just cannot stop borrowing," said Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. The White House was quick to blame Republicans on Tuesday evening for the astronomical rise in the federal debt. "This is the trickle-down debt — driven overwhelmingly by repeated Republican giveaways skewed to big corporations and the wealthy," Michael Kikukawa, White House assistant press secretary, said in a statement provided to FOX Business. Even more worrisome is that the spike in interest rates over the past year and a half has made the cost of servicing the national debt more expensive. That is because as interest rates rise, the federal government's borrowing costs on its debt will also increase. In fact, interest payments on the national debt are projected to be the fastest-growing part of the federal budget over the next three decades, according to the CRFB. Payments are expected to triple from nearly $475 billion in fiscal year 2022 to a stunning $1.4 trillion in 2032. By 2053, the interest payments are projected to surge to $5.4 trillion. Cases are now surging and could lead to a public health emergency. Shigella is a highly contagious bacteria that spreads through fecal matter. It’s usually spread when the bacteria is on someone’s hand and then they touch their mouth, or through sex. The Portland metro saw at least 218 cases of shigellosis in 2023, with 45 cases in December alone. Many of them occurred in Old Town. As cases rise, Multnomah County Deputy Health Officer Dr. Teresa Everson is advising the public to be alert, but not panic, as the cases are not occurring in the general public. But there’s fear in the community that that may change. The county is offering some infected homeless people free motel rooms to isolate in so they can mitigate the spread. “These cases can occur because bathrooms, handwashing sinks and soap can be hard to access when you aren’t housed,” she told KGW-TV. “And unhoused community members are at higher risk of infectious diseases in general, as they experience poorer health than the broader public.” Still, Everson advises people living and working in Old Town to be extra vigilant in washing hands. Though, she said most of the cases appear to be a result of sexual contact. Symptoms of Shigella infection include diarrhea, stomach cramps fever and vomiting that can last anywhere from three to 10 days. It can be treated with antibiotics. Though it’s rare to see this specific kind of outbreak amongst the homeless, once it spreads, it may be hard to contain since the homeless aren’t especially hygienic with a lack of access to restrooms. But it’s a crisis of Portland’s own making. Permissive left-wing policies have allowed homelessness to explode in Portland, rendering the city unrecognizable. In the waning months of 2023, officials finally committed to implementing a new strategy to target homelessness after public pressure forced them to accept the reality on its streets. In a long-overdue move, the city finally decided to enforce a camping ban on public property. The new policy was set to put much-needed restrictions in place, banning camping on all public property from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and limiting it during other hours. It’s a clear message: No more overnight stays in city parks, along riverbanks or near busy streets. But a judge stopped the ban from commencing after activist attorneys representing five homeless Portlanders sued the city. It’s part of a consistent strategy to stop any homeless policies from being enforced, with Radical Left activists fighting to keep homeless on the streets where they will now spread Shigella. Live footage on public broadcaster NHK showed Japan Airlines passenger plane JAL-516 on a runway at Tokyo's Haneda airport with flames coming out of its windows. Shortly after, the plane was entirely consumed. The coast guard aircraft pilot escaped, but the five crewmembers were killed, NHK reported. An official confirmed that a Bombardier Dash-8 Coast Guard plane was involved in the collision. A Japan Airlines spokesperson said more than 300 passengers were on board when the aircraft initially caught fire. NHK reported all 379 passengers and crew ultimately escaped from the plane. The aircraft JAL flight 516 had flown out of Shin Chitose airport in Japan to Haneda, officials said. Haneda is one of the busiest airports in Japan. Invoking the Declaration of Independence in a declaration of their own, the current and former members of the U.S. military state that America has reached a point in its history where it is "necessary to admonish the lawless, encourage the fainthearted, and strengthen the weak" as the "affairs of our nation are now steeped in avaricious corruption and our once stalwart institutions, including the Dept of Defense, are failing to fulfill the moral obligations upon which they were founded." Unlike the Declaration of Independence, the signers of the Declaration of Military Accountability "seek no separation" as the patriots of 1776 did from Great Britain, "but through this letter and the efforts we pledge herein, we pursue restoration through accountability." On the Pentagon's enactment of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, the declaration states that "military leaders broke the law, trampled constitutional rights, denied informed consent, permitted unwilling medical experimentation, and suppressed the free exercise of religion," actions that meant "[s]ervice members and families were significantly harmed." "Their suffering continues to be felt financially, emotionally, and physically," the declaration emphasizes of those affected by the DoD's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. "Some service members became part of our ever-growing veteran homeless population, some developed debilitating vaccine injuries, and some even lost their lives." Despite these outcomes, the declaration says "military leaders are continuing to ignore our communications regarding these injuries and the laws that were broken," calling the DoD's silence "an apparent attempt to avoid accountability." Naming a list of military leaders who "enabled lawlessness and the unwilling experimentation on service members" including "GEN Milley, ADM Grady, GEN McConville, ADM Gilday, ADM Lescher, Gen Brown, Gen Berger, Gen Smith, VADM Kilby, VADM Nowell, VADM Fuller, LTG Martin, Lt Gen Davis, MG Edmonson, GEN Williams, ADM Fagan, VADM Buck, Lt Gen Clark, MG Francis, LTG Dingle, Lt Gen Miller, RADM Gillingham, and numerous others," the declaration emphasizes that they "betrayed the trust of service members and the American people." "Their actions caused irreparable harm to the Armed Forces and the institutions for which we have fought and bled," the current and former members of the military say. "These leaders refused to resign or take any other action to hold themselves accountable, nor have they attempted to repair the harm their policies and actions have caused." Due to this lack of accountability, the 231 signatories to the declaration state their intention to "do everything morally permissible and legally possible to hold our own leadership accountable" because they "as service members and veterans...feel particularly responsible for the DoD and, in according with our oaths...will make every effort to demonstrate by example how an institution can put its own house in order." Signing "on behalf of hundreds of thousands of service members and the American people, while appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for guidance and purity of intention, mutually pledge to each other that we will do everything in our power, through lawful word and action, to hold accountable military leaders who failed to follow the law when their leadership and moral courage was most desperately needed," the declaration explains. The action that will follow from the declaration, it explains, includes running for Congress and seeking appointments within the executive branch while those in active service "will continue to put fulfilling our oaths ahead of striving for rank or position." In addition, the declaration pledges that those who have the legal authority to do so will "recall from retirement the military leaders who broke the law and will convene courts-martial for the crimes they committed." Those who become lawmakers will "introduce legislation to remove all retirement income for the military leaders who were criminally complicit, and we will ensure none serve in or retire from the Senior Executive Service." Emphasizing that fulfilling their oaths to the Constitution requires "persistent vigilance," the declaration's signers also pledge to "train those who come after us to fulfill their duty in achieving this accountability and safeguarding against such leadership failures hereafter." "While all good things come to an end, we refuse to allow our nation to go quietly into the depths of decadence and decay," the veterans and service members declare. "We promise to exhaust all moral, ethical, and legal means to restore the rule of law and will begin by attempting to hold senior military leaders accountable" in addition to fighting to enforce the Constitution and "put an end to the two-tiered justice system." The Declaration concludes: "May future generations see our efforts and, God willing, may they also be recipients of the great gift of liberty that we have had the honor of safeguarding.”

Unlike the Declaration of Independence, the signers of the Declaration of Military Accountability "seek no separation" as the patriots of 1776 did from Great Britain, "but through this letter and the efforts we pledge herein, we pursue restoration through accountability." On the Pentagon's enactment of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, the declaration states that "military leaders broke the law, trampled constitutional rights, denied informed consent, permitted unwilling medical experimentation, and suppressed the free exercise of religion," actions that meant "[s]ervice members and families were significantly harmed." "Their suffering continues to be felt financially, emotionally, and physically," the declaration emphasizes of those affected by the DoD's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. "Some service members became part of our ever-growing veteran homeless population, some developed debilitating vaccine injuries, and some even lost their lives." Despite these outcomes, the declaration says "military leaders are continuing to ignore our communications regarding these injuries and the laws that were broken," calling the DoD's silence "an apparent attempt to avoid accountability." Naming a list of military leaders who "enabled lawlessness and the unwilling experimentation on service members" including "GEN Milley, ADM Grady, GEN McConville, ADM Gilday, ADM Lescher, Gen Brown, Gen Berger, Gen Smith, VADM Kilby, VADM Nowell, VADM Fuller, LTG Martin, Lt Gen Davis, MG Edmonson, GEN Williams, ADM Fagan, VADM Buck, Lt Gen Clark, MG Francis, LTG Dingle, Lt Gen Miller, RADM Gillingham, and numerous others," the declaration emphasizes that they "betrayed the trust of service members and the American people." "Their actions caused irreparable harm to the Armed Forces and the institutions for which we have fought and bled," the current and former members of the military say. "These leaders refused to resign or take any other action to hold themselves accountable, nor have they attempted to repair the harm their policies and actions have caused." Due to this lack of accountability, the 231 signatories to the declaration state their intention to "do everything morally permissible and legally possible to hold our own leadership accountable" because they "as service members and veterans...feel particularly responsible for the DoD and, in according with our oaths...will make every effort to demonstrate by example how an institution can put its own house in order." Signing "on behalf of hundreds of thousands of service members and the American people, while appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for guidance and purity of intention, mutually pledge to each other that we will do everything in our power, through lawful word and action, to hold accountable military leaders who failed to follow the law when their leadership and moral courage was most desperately needed," the declaration explains. The action that will follow from the declaration, it explains, includes running for Congress and seeking appointments within the executive branch while those in active service "will continue to put fulfilling our oaths ahead of striving for rank or position." In addition, the declaration pledges that those who have the legal authority to do so will "recall from retirement the military leaders who broke the law and will convene courts-martial for the crimes they committed." Those who become lawmakers will "introduce legislation to remove all retirement income for the military leaders who were criminally complicit, and we will ensure none serve in or retire from the Senior Executive Service." Emphasizing that fulfilling their oaths to the Constitution requires "persistent vigilance," the declaration's signers also pledge to "train those who come after us to fulfill their duty in achieving this accountability and safeguarding against such leadership failures hereafter." "While all good things come to an end, we refuse to allow our nation to go quietly into the depths of decadence and decay," the veterans and service members declare. "We promise to exhaust all moral, ethical, and legal means to restore the rule of law and will begin by attempting to hold senior military leaders accountable" in addition to fighting to enforce the Constitution and "put an end to the two-tiered justice system." The Declaration concludes: "May future generations see our efforts and, God willing, may they also be recipients of the great gift of liberty that we have had the honor of safeguarding.”

Chapter 1, Paragraph 9

This morning we will be exploring Christ's trial before the most important religious leaders in all of Judaism after He was arrested in the garden. Christ first goes before Annas for a brief interrogation, and then is led to be tried before Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin. The Supreme Court of Israel sits in judgment over the Supreme Judge! During the trial Jesus reveals His identity as the Divine Son of Man who will rule at the right hand of the Power in heaven. A reign that would begin from that moment forward. A reign that we can ‘see' and ‘perceive' even today! He was the Ultimate Judge in that trial room! In response, the Supreme Court demanded His death and began to pummel Him, spit on Him, and tear out His beard in a symbolic stoning. A suffering for sin endured for you and me! Also, during this trial and torture, Jesus' lead apostle, Peter, undergoes a trial of his own. He ends up denying Christ three times and even curses Him. Yet, with a compassionate look of hope and grace from Jesus, Peter's heart is broken and he begins to be restored! Join us!

In this podcast Paul Keith continues his discussion of the sevenfold revelation of the Lord as Supreme Judge. He discusses the prophetic implications of these revelations of the Lord‘s nature as it relates to the last days.

“Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves there. Bring down, O LORD, Your mighty ones. Let the nations be aroused and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread, for the wine press is full; the vats overflow, for their wickedness is great” (NASU).

As you listened to Psalm 50, it may have sounded different than you would expect from a Psalm. Psalm 50 recounts a prophetic word from God to the people of Israel. It stands out because with Psalms, we often think of men speaking to God. It is the only Asaph Psalm in book 2 bridging a set of Psalms by the Sons of Korah and set of David Psalms. There may be many reasons that it is dropped in here, but at minimum this Psalm picks up the theme of a Glorious God and His kingdom. This God who gives an invitation to Israel to come to Him truly. An invitation David takes up in Psalm 51.We will walk through this Psalm in 4 parts: 1) God the Supreme Judge is Announced2) God rebukes misguided and empty worship3) God rebukes hypocritical worship4) God invites us to worship him truly The Supreme Judge is Announced (v.1-6)Psalm 50:1-3 “The Mighty One, God the Lord speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shine forth. Our God comes; he does not keep silence; before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest.” The LORD is God over all creationThe Psalm right at the get go burst into praise of God. It has poetic language of the God's activity and ownership over all things. From farthest east to west, all seen or imagined, God reigns over. v.10 “every beast of the forrest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills”v.11: “I know all the birds of the hills, & all that moves in the field is mine” God doesn't just own all things, but knows, understands, and upholds all things. We may own things, but aren't all knowing and did not create all things.The LORD is the judge over His chosen peopleThe language used in verse 3 are descriptions of God appearing at Mount Sinai. “Before him is a devouring fire”“Around him a mighty tempest” God wants Israel to remember this moment of him speaking, setting them apart, He is not silent to his people. He is the God who came to his people at Sinai and entered into a special relationship with them. And He has spoken again, this time with a Word against His people.The LORD calls his creation to gather his people and bear witness as he judgesPsalm 50:4-6 “He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people: ‘Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!' The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge!” He is the supreme judge, and calls all his works to bear witness. All creation is called to the scene to witness. The word call is the same word as he summons in verse 1. God calls/summons creation to gather his people and bear witness, to bear testimony to the the righteousness of God. This may include heavenly beings, but this more has the sense of personified creation.This reminds me of the scene in Lion King when Simba is presented. The king is calling all to come and see and testify to the event. All of Creation bears witness that Simba is the future king. Animals gather and bow down, the clouds part and the sun shines on him.God's authority emanates so powerfully that creation is vibrantly described in this Psalm as gathering his people to assemble before God and called to bear witness in this judgement.This is the same witness we have today. Psalm 50:6 and Psalm 19:1-3, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, night to night reveals knowledge.” See the activity here of creation. Creation is not a neutral party, it's declaring, proclaiming, revealing, gathering, speaking, bearing witness to the Glory of God. Every tree, every blade of grass, every bird bears witness. God's creation is an overwhelming witness for us today, and for Israel. Try to make it home today w/o seeing or hearing this witness, you can't! All of creation, like a plant on your window sill that leans toward the sun no matter where it is located, bears a constant and faithful witness to the Glory and Righteousness of God.God calls creation here as a surrounding witness to the truthfulness and righteousness of God, who is going to rebuke his people. There is no second opinion needed or higher court to appeal to. God is the creator of all things, and God himself is the judge of all things.Now that everyone is gathered, (what an incredible image and sight), God will address his people.God Rebukes Misguided and Empty Worship (v7-15)Psalm 50:8-9 “Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me. I will not accept a bull from your house or goats from your fold.” Verses 10-15 go on to explain two reasons why God will not accept their sacrifices.1) They thought that God had needs they were meetingOther nations sacrificed to their idols to appease or care for them. Their gods need to be carried, put to bed, cleaned, and fed. Their idols needed to be served, protected, and defended. Israel started to follow suite and see God similarly, but God teases this out further to help them really understand. What ever you think you give me to enrich me is already mine; “the cattle on a thousand hills.” Whatever you give me is not to feed me; “Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?” As if I'm hungry and need to be fed? And if He needed help, he wouldn't ask you, he could call thousands of angels to serve any need he would ever have. The Apostle Paul preaching in Acts makes this point abundantly clear.Acts 17:24 “The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.” This group is not rebuked because of a lack of sacrifices, but because of a misunderstanding of what the sacrifices were for. They viewed God in a transactional way. We scratch his back and he scratches ours, thinking we are giving God what he wants so we get what we want.If we think this way, our worship and efforts may be to attain things other than God himself. We want to earn a certain blessing or feeling, that he may or may not give. But when we worship God, he will give us himself, and it is enough. Let it be enough for you, to know that God is for you whether you receive the blessing you want or not, the healing you want or not, the feelings you want or not. He has given himself and it is enough, it is all we need.There are needs being met when we worship God. It's not his needs, but ours. We need forgiveness, we need hope, we need help.Psalm 50:15 “call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you…” We can genuinely and freely come to him for rest for our souls, in the midst of a broken and painful world. He wants to be worshipped, not bargained with.2) The second error mentioned twice in the Psalm was a lack of thanksgivingTheir worship may have drifted to merely external practice and form, rather than a heart level motivation of thanksgiving and praise to God. He wants our genuine delight, not a mask or external posture. He doesn't want us to just act happy, but to be happy. And he has given us all we need to genuinely love and delight in him.One temptation here with our services may be our Liturgy. I can drive home without even thinking about it. The familiarity can cause me to zone out or think on other things. We can tune out as well with the familiarity of our liturgy. We hope that you anticipate these moments, instead of tuning out or zoning out because you know what comes next. We hope that each time you hear a welcome or commission, that it is more real, more joyful, and more assuring each time. That every time of confession you confess sins, so that when you are assured of God's grace, you believe and rejoice in it more each time.God Rebukes Hypocritical Worship (v.16-21)Psalm 50:16-18 “But to the wicked God says: What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips? For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you. If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers.” This other segment of Israel addressed by God is those that are double minded, that are two-faced. Those who declare God covenant in public, but live in contradiction to it. The passage goes on to list ways they have contradicted the 10 commandments, which are the core elements of God's covenant with his people at Sinai. They give approval to thieves They share company with adulterers They speak lies and deceit They slander their brothers and sisters They might not be thieves or adulterers themselves, but they betray what God said is good, and give approval to evil, all while reciting and giving lip service to God commands and thinking they dwell securely. God lands his rebuke in verse 21 with a profound statement. He says: “These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I was one like yourself.” They thought God was like them. There is no neutral ground in this life. Either by faith in Jesus Christ we are being made into the image of God, an image of all that is good and right and true, or we will be making God into our own image. If we are envious, we may think God is envious. If we are careless, we may think he is careless. If we excuse our lusts or sins, we desire to believe that God likewise excuses these things. We make God in our sinful image to justify ourselves.There are all kinds of buildings in our city, that have the words “Jesus” or “church” on them, that do exactly this. They have made God one like themselves, but the real God who knows all things, sees it, and is not pleased. But this Psalm is a warning for us this morning. Do you follow the very things you profess? Do you delight in God and see good in his instructions? Or do you go on sinning willfully, thinking that either God doesn't see it, or worse, that he gives approval of it?You may fool everyone around you, but God isn't fooled. And if that's you, or you are guilty of any of these other things, there is amazing news. Remarkably, after all of this, rather than just bringing the hammer down, God offers an invitation to his sinful people.God Invites us to Worship Him Truly (v.22-23)Psalm 50:22-23 “Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!” There is a word of instruction and hope to both of the groups corrected here. To the first group he says: I have no needs for you to meet, do not worship me in any obligatory sense, a sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me. To the second group he says: the one who orders his way rightly, who follows me, to him I will show the salvation of God! There is a foreshadowing of Jesus in this Psalm. Verses 3-5 talk about God speaking from Mount Sinai, but in verse 2, it says God shines forth out of Mount Zion. God sent forth his salvation from mount Zion, from Jerusalem. Salvation is found in Jesus Christ. Jesus, the sacrificial lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. Jesus was the complete and perfect sacrifice for us, so all that is left is to believe it and offer thanksgiving and praise to Him.When Jesus came, he came looking for worshippers that will worship him in Spirit and in Truth, which is an appropriate summary of the invitation at the end of this Psalm. Worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, with thanksgiving.We should feel relief, joy, and rest because of Jesus. We should feel gratitude, wonder and love for him. We rejoice and praise him, we celebrate that he has saved us and will keep us. And as we worship him, he will continue to show us the fruit of this salvation. So comprehensive is this salvation that though we will one day die, scripture says: “not a hair of your head will perish.” For those in Christ, to die means to be present with Jesus in glory forever.God's invitation stands this morning. Believe in Jesus, the perfect sacrifice on your behalf, and be saved. Worship God wholeheartedly, with joy and thanksgiving for all that He has done.That victory is what we celebrate at this table. We share this table together as a reminder of what Christ has accomplished on the cross for us. Jesus's body, symbolized in the bread, was torn apart for our wickedness, for our thankless and hypocritical worship, that we may have peace with God.

Independence Day commemorates the ratification of the Declaration of Independence by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The Declaration is a legal brief, making a case that “these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States.” The Declaration also makes theological claims, however. It begins with reference to “the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature's God entitle [the colonists].” It ends with the signers appealing to “the Supreme Judge of the world” and expressing “a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.” But its most important theological statement is this: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” In this episode of the Influence Podcast, I'm talking to Prof. Thomas S. Today we consider what it would mean should the Supreme Court overturn its greatest failure ever, Roe v. Wade, and encourages us all to cry out to the Supreme Judge.

“To err is human; to forgive, divine.” So says Alexander Pope, 18th century poet in his rare poetic essay, ‘An Essay on Criticism: Part 2.' Most essays are written prosaically. Hence, our expectations so disturbed, we might fault Pope for having surprised and confused us. Transferring the embarrassment of surprise from ourselves to him has some advantages. But greater advantages are had from embracing rather than criticizing this work regarding criticism. That really is the point, after all. For every single writer, ten critics wait in the wings. And too often, those critics – joyless in their outlook – rob joy from others even as they criticize for the sake of criticizing. So what if Pope wrote his essay in poetic form? Perhaps that is not a mistake, as Bob Ross would say, merely a happy little accident. And where is it written that persuasive essays have to be prosaic rather than poetic, mathematical rather than artistic? In every man, woman, and child there is both a head and a heart. Some live the life of the mind, while others are carried along by the wind wherever their emotions take them. But if we – as writers and critics – can endeavor to show up as the whole person, both head and heart, in whatever our hand finds to do, as unto the Lord, that is much better than half-heartedness and half-baked ideas. Surviving in a Post-Christian America Message Three – To Obey or Not Obey On January 20th, our country went through a change of leadership. President Biden became our 46th president of the United States. I watched a good deal of the Inauguration. Lady Gaga did a fabulous job singing the National Anthem. Recently I heard Amanda Gorman, our Youth Poet Laureate, recite one of her poems; so I was interested to hear her read her new poem The Hill We Climb. I sang along with Garth Brooks as he performed Amazing Grace. And as I listened to President Biden’s speech, I shared his hope for unity. Every 4-8 years we go through this. We welcome a new government into power. The republic created 243 years ago still stands. So now what? What do we as Christians do with respect to this new government? Do we honor and respect President Biden and Vice President Harris or do we stand against them?  Do we subject ourselves to these leaders for the next four years or do we rebel? Two weeks back you learned that your first responsibility toward your leaders is to pray for them and to thank God for them. But do we have to obey them? Must we follow in lockstep wherever they lead? Today you will learn the answer to the question – must I obey... You will learn that .... God commands us to obey our government as long as our obedience is not in conflict with God. When we do choose to obey God rather than man we must be willing to accept the consequences. Subjection Romans 13:1-2 Believers are to be subject to their governing authorities because God has appointed these leaders. Look at Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. Why does the Word tell us to subject ourselves to our political leaders? The reason we are to subject ourselves to our governing authorities is that God has appointed them. God raises leaders up and God removes them. If the Scripture is telling the truth, (and we know it is) then God just appointed President Biden and God just removed President Trump. And we are to subject ourselves to that change. Remember, Paul is writing the book of Romans at the time Nero is Emperor. As I discussed two weeks back, Nero was one of the most perverse leaders of all time. Yet Paul told the readers of Romans that they were to subject themselves to this leader. Several questions come to mind. What about: Hitler who executed 4-6 million Jews (2/3 of all European Jews) Stalin who killed approximately 20 million Soviet citizens Chairman Mao killed as many as 45 million Chinese citizens Or what about the United States, who has aborted 62 million babies since Roe v Wade. What is a believer’s responsibility to a government like that? Must a Christian obey their leaders when their leaders sanction murder? Three Things to Think About Does the Bible and especially Romans 13 teach the “Divine Right of Kings”? The DRK is “the doctrine that kings derive their authority from God, not from their subjects.” The DRK teaches that human rulers are beyond reproach or criticism by his or her subjects. Rebellion would be the worst of political crimes. So is this biblical? No – Romans and elsewhere in Scripture teach that we are subject in general but not in absolute. Remember that Nathan called out King David’s sin in 2 Samuel 12:7 Jeremiah stood against Ahab in 1 Kings 18 Remember Daniel in the lions’ den? John the Baptist confronted Herod and religious leaders with their sin. There is another important teaching in the Scripture that destroys the idea of the Divine Right of Kings. What is it? All men are created equal. All are sinners. Romans 3:23 (All men are created equal.) All are guilty and those without Christ will be held accountable for their sins. So does the Bible teach that we must obey our leaders because they are without reproach? The answer is no. Christians are citizens of two kingdoms. You are a citizen of the country in which you live. And you are a citizen of heaven. Phil 3:20 and Col 1:13 Why is this important? Because you are to subject yourself to your leaders as long as there is no conflict with God’s laws. Look at Acts 5:17-32 What does that story teach? It teaches when man’s laws are in conflict with God’s laws then we must choose to obey God. Another example is found in Daniel 3:13-18. What does that story teach? It teaches that when we choose to obey God and not man we must be willing to accept the consequences. Here is another example. Who is Kim Davis? Kim Davis was the former county clerk in Rowan County Kentucky who refused to sign marriage licenses for same-sex couples. Shortly after the US Supreme Court made same-sex marriages legal, same-sex couples began to come to the Rowan County Courthouse for a license to marry. Kim Davis was the county clerk. Her name was on every marriage license and above her name was a line for her signature. She said, "I never imagined a day like this would come, where I would be asked to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage. To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God's definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience." Because of her refusal, she was jailed and sued. Eventually, she returned to her post after they removed her name from the signature block. Her assistant clerks signed from then on. She refused. Ultimately she was voted out of office. All in all, this worked out as it can. The government made same-sex marriage legal. Kim Davis, a representative of that government, chose to obey God rather than man and to suffer the consequences. She used her Frist Amendment rights to do so. The First Amendment says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. When we are faced with a decision to obey the government or obey God we should always choose “Obey God.” But we should do so in the way that fits the issue and with an understanding that we must be willing to suffer the consequences. Kim Davis did not set off any bombs. She did not try to violently overthrow the government. She exercised her constitutional rights to resist a law that was in conflict with the Bible. The people of Rowan County Kentucky also exercised their rights and in due time voted her out of office. So must we obey our leaders in all matters? The answer is no when the laws of man are in opposition to the laws of God. But we must be willing to suffer the consequences. One final question then we will conclude.  What about our founding fathers and the American Revolution, was that a violation of Romans 13 because they did rebel against the sitting government? Pastor John MacArthur Jr. says that “the American Revolution was born out of a violation of Romans 13:1-7.” Let’s look at that. On August 2, 1776, 56 members of the 2nd Constitutional Congress signed the Declaration of Independence. These men too struggled with the teaching of Romans 13. But they also considered the entire Bible. The Declaration of Independence is a document that explains why they felt justified to break with England. When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. It rejects the Divine Right of Kings because it states this: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness The signers believed that the King of England and the government he represented was no longer a government worthy of subjection. Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world. They then wrote down 28 ways the King had violated them and the law. Finally, they appealed to God that they would establish a new country that would be worthy of God-ordained subjection. We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States The final sentence of the declaration calls upon one another and upon God’s providence. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor. When we stand and obey God rather than man we can only depend upon God and one another. Conclusion So are we subject to our leaders?  Yes, we are. Why? Because God has appointed them. God appointed President Biden and God removed President Trump. Must we obey them in all matters?  No. Why? There is no Divine Right of Kings. And we are citizens of two kingdoms. When man’s kingdom disagrees with God’s we must choose God’s and suffer the consequences. Let’s pray.

07/03/2019 The Divinely Inspired Declaration of Independence, Government By God Providing Life, Liberty & Pursuit of Happiness And More!!! Washington Times Article: The idea that the law must apply uniformly to all was something that the Founding Fathers considered to be of fundamental importance. It was, in James Madison’s words, something “without which every government degenerates into tyranny.” A system in which elected officials make “legal discriminations in favor of themselves and a particular class of society” is inconsistent with a free society. According to Madison, it creates a “state of things in which it may be said with some truth that the laws are made for the few, not for the many.” Madison’s words have a peculiar relevance to our times. Many Americans were disgusted, if not shocked, by a “60 Minutes” report that featured the findings of a new book, written by the Hoover Institution’s Peter Schweizer, demonstrating the alarming extent to which members of Congress are essentially immune from laws that apply to the rest of society. Many members, such as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have - by leveraging their political connections or insider political intelligence - reaped hundreds of thousands of dollars in profits from trading activity that likely would be illegal if done by a private citizen. The Declaration of Independence:In Congress, July 4, 1776 The Unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. Psalm 33:12 In this sermon by Pastor Joe Still, he writes, “I spent some moments this week re-reading and reflecting on a few of the founding documents of our nation; as well as additional writings by some of the Founders and other great leaders in its history. One of those documents was the Declaration of Independence. The concluding paragraph of that document has only two sentences, one of which is quite long. For YOU alone are the One who has created all men and women equal and have endowed us all with the unalienable rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. These versatile beings function as the connecting links between the higher personalities and the ministering spirits. Every fourth servital is more physical in type than the others; that is, out of each thousand, seven hundred and fifty are apparently true to spirit type, but two hundred and fifty are semiphysical in nature. These fourth creatures are somewhat on the order of material beings (material in the Havona sense), resembling the physical power directors more than the Master Spirits. (274.1) 25:1.4 In personality relationships the spiritual is dominant over the material, even though it does not now so appear on Urantia; and in the production of Havona Servitals the law of spirit dominance prevails; the established ratio yields three spiritual beings to one semiphysical. (274.2) 25:1.5 The newly created servitals, together with newly appearing Graduate Guides, all pass through the courses of training which the senior guides continuously conduct on each of the seven Havona circuits. Servitals are then assigned to the activities for which they are best adapted, and since they are of two types — spiritual and semiphysical — there are few limits to the range of work these versatile beings can do. The higher or spirit groups are assigned selectively to the services of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, and to the work of the Seven Master Spirits. In large numbers they are dispatched, from time to time, to serve on the study worlds encircling the headquarters spheres of the seven superuniverses, the worlds devoted to the final training and spiritual culture of the ascending souls of time who are preparing for advancement to the circuits of Havona. Both spirit servitals and their more physical fellows are also designated assistants and associates of the Graduate Guides in helping and instructing the various orders of ascending creatures who have attained Havona, and who seek to attain Paradise. (274.3) 25:1.6 The Havona Servitals and the Graduate Guides manifest a transcendent devotion to their work and a touching affection for one another, an affection which, while spiritual, you could only understand by comparison with the phenomenon of human love. There is divine pathos in the separation of the servitals from the guides, as so often occurs when the servitals are dispatched on missions beyond the limits of the central universe; but they go with joy and not with sorrow. The satisfying joy of high duty is the eclipsing emotion of spiritual beings. Sorrow cannot exist in the face of the consciousness of divine duty faithfully performed. And when man’s ascending soul stands before the Supreme Judge, the decision of eternal import will not be determined by material successes or quantitative achievements; the verdict reverberating through the high courts declares: “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few essentials; you shall be made ruler over universe realities.” (274.4) 25:1.7 On superuniverse service the Havona Servitals are always assigned to that domain presided over by the Master Spirit whom they most resemble in general and special spirit prerogatives. They serve only on the educational worlds surrounding the capitals of the seven superuniverses, and the last report of Uversa indicates that almost 138 billion servitals were ministering on its 490 satellites. They engage in an endless variety of activities in connection with the work of these educational worlds comprising the superuniversities of the superuniverse of Orvonton. Here they are your companions; they have come down from your next career to study you and to inspire you with the reality and certainty of your eventual graduation from the universes of time to the realms of eternity. And in these contacts the servitals gain that preliminary experience of ministering to the ascending creatures of time which is so helpful in their subsequent work on the Havona circuits as associates of the Graduate Guides or — as translated servitals — as Graduate Guides themselves. 2. The Universal Conciliators (275.1) 25:2.1 For every Havona Servital created, seven Universal Conciliators are brought into being, one in each superuniverse. This creative enactment involves a definite superuniverse technique of reflective response to transactions taking place on Paradise. (275.2) 25:2.2 On the headquarters worlds of the seven superuniverses there function the seven reflections of the Seven Master Spirits. It is difficult to undertake to portray the natures of these Reflective Spirits to material minds. They are true personalities; still each member of a superuniverse group is perfectly reflective of just one of the Seven Master Spirits. And every time the Master Spirits associate themselves with the power directors for the purpose of creating a group of Havona Servitals, there is a simultaneous focalization upon one of the Reflective Spirits in each of the superuniverse groups, and forthwith and full-fledgedly an equal number of Universal Conciliators appear on the headquarters worlds of the supercreations. If, in the creation of servitals, Master Spirit Number Seven should take the initiative, none but the Reflective Spirits of the seventh order would become pregnant with conciliators; and concurrently with the creation of one thousand Orvontonlike servitals, one thousand of the seventh-order conciliators would appear on each superuniverse capital. Out of these episodes, reflecting the sevenfold nature of the Master Spirits, arise the seven created orders of conciliators serving in each superuniverse. (275.3) 25:2.3 Conciliators of pre-Paradise status do not serve interchangeably between superuniverses, being restricted to their native segments of creation. Every superuniverse corps, embracing one seventh of each created order, therefore spends a very long time under the influence of one of the Master Spirits to the exclusion of the others, for, while all seven are reflected on the superuniverse capitals, only one is dominant in each supercreation. (275.4) 25:2.4 Each of the seven supercreations is actually pervaded by that one of the Master Spirits who presides over its destinies. Each superuniverse thus becomes like a gigantic mirror reflecting the nature and character of the supervising Master Spirit, and all of this is further continued in every subsidiary local universe by the presence and function of the Creative Mother Spirits. The effect of such an environment upon evolutionary growth is so profound that in their postsuperuniverse careers the conciliators collectively manifest forty-nine experiential viewpoints, or insights, each angular — hence incomplete — but all mutually compensatory and together tending to encompass the circle of Supremacy. (275.5) 25:2.5 In each superuniverse the Universal Conciliators find themselves strangely and innately segregated into groups of four, associations in which they continue to serve. In each group, three are spirit personalities, and one, like the fourth creatures of the servitals, is a semimaterial being. This quartet constitutes a conciliating commission and is made up as follows: (275.6) 25:2.6 1. The Judge-Arbiter. The one unanimously designated by the other three as the most competent and best qualified to act as judicial head of the group. (275.7) 25:2.7 2. The Spirit-Advocate. The one appointed by the judge-arbiter to present evidence and to safeguard the rights of all personalities involved in any matter assigned to the adjudication of the conciliating commission. (276.1) 25:2.8 3. The Divine Executioner. The conciliator qualified by inherent nature to make contact with the material beings of the realms and to execute the decisions of the commission. Divine executioners, being fourth creatures — quasi-material beings — are almost, but not quite, visible to the short-range vision of the mortal races. (276.2) 25:2.9 4. The Recorder. The remaining member of the commission automatically becomes the recorder, the clerk of the tribunal. He makes certain that all records are properly prepared for the archives of the superuniverse and for the records of the local universe. If the commission is serving on an evolutionary world, a third report, with the assistance of the executioner, is prepared for the physical records of the system government of jurisdiction. (276.3) 25:2.10 When in session a commission functions as a group of three since the advocate is detached during adjudication and participates in the formulation of the verdict only at the conclusion of the hearing. Hence these commissions are sometimes called referee trios. (276.4) 25:2.11 The conciliators are of great value in keeping the universe of universes running smoothly. Traversing space at the seraphic rate of triple velocity, they serve as the traveling courts of the worlds, commissions devoted to the quick adjudication of minor difficulties. Were it not for these mobile and eminently fair commissions, the tribunals of the spheres would be hopelessly overspread with the minor misunderstandings of the realms. (276.5) 25:2.12 These referee trios do not pass upon matters of eternal import; the soul, the eternal prospects of a creature of time, is never placed in jeopardy by their acts. Conciliators do not deal with questions extending beyond the temporal existence and the cosmic welfare of the creatures of time. But when a commission has once accepted jurisdiction of a problem, its rulings are final and always unanimous; there is no appeal from the decision of the judge-arbiter. 3. The Far-Reaching Service of Conciliators (276.6) 25:3.1 Conciliators maintain group headquarters on the capital of their superuniverse, where their primary reserve corps is held. Their secondary reserves are stationed on the capitals of the local universes. The younger and less experienced commissioners begin their service on the lower worlds, worlds like Urantia, and are advanced to the adjudication of greater problems after they have acquired riper experience. (276.7) 25:3.2 The order of conciliators is wholly dependable; not one has ever gone astray. Though not infallible in wisdom and judgment, they are of unquestioned reliability and unerring in faithfulness. They take origin on the headquarters of a superuniverse and eventually return thereto, advancing through the following levels of universe service: (276.8) 25:3.3 1. Conciliators to the Worlds. Whenever the supervising personalities of the individual worlds become greatly perplexed or actually deadlocked concerning the proper procedure under existing circumstances, and if the matter is not of sufficient importance to be brought before the regularly constituted tribunals of the realm, then, upon the receipt of a petition of two personalities, one from each contention, a conciliating commission will begin to function forthwith. (277.1) 25:3.4 When these administrative and jurisdictional difficulties have been placed in the hands of the conciliators for study and adjudication, they are supreme in authority. But they will not formulate a decision until all the evidence has been heard, and there is absolutely no limit to their authority to call witnesses from anywhere and everywhere. And while their decisions may not be appealed, sometimes matters so develop that the commission closes its records at a given point, concludes its opinions, and transfers the whole question to the higher tribunals of the realm. (277.2) 25:3.5 The commissioners’ decisions are placed on the planetary records and, if necessary, are put into effect by the divine executioner. His power is very great, and the range of his activities on an inhabited world is very wide. Divine executioners are masterful manipulators of that which is in the interests of that which ought to be. Their work is sometimes carried out for the apparent welfare of the realm, and sometimes their acts on the worlds of time and space are difficult of explanation. Though executing decrees in defiance of neither natural law nor the ordained usages of the realm, they do ofttimes effect their strange doings and enforce the mandates of the conciliators in accordance with the higher laws of the system administration. (277.3) 25:3.6 2. Conciliators to the System Headquarters. From service on the evolutionary worlds these commissions of four are advanced to duty on a system headquarters. Here they have much work to do, and they prove to be the understanding friends of men, angels, and other spirit beings. The referee trios are not so much concerned with personal differences as with group contentions and with misunderstandings arising between different orders of creatures; and on a system headquarters there live both spiritual and material beings, as well as the combined types, such as the Material Sons. (277.4) 25:3.7 The moment the Creators bring into existence evolving individuals with the power of choice, that moment a departure is made from the smooth working of divine perfection; misunderstandings are certain to arise, and provision for the fair adjustment of these honest differences of viewpoint must be made. We should all remember that the all-wise and all-powerful Creators could have made the local universes just as perfect as Havona. No conciliating commissions need function in the central universe. But the Creators did not choose in their all-wisdom to do this. And while they have produced universes which abound in differences and teem with difficulties, they have likewise provided the mechanisms and the means for composing all these differences and for harmonizing all this seeming confusion. (277.5) 25:3.8 3. The Constellation Conciliators. From service in the systems the conciliators are promoted to the adjudication of the problems of a constellation, taking up the minor difficulties arising between its one hundred systems of inhabited worlds. Not many problems developing on the constellation headquarters fall under their jurisdiction, but they are kept busy going from system to system gathering evidence and preparing preliminary statements. If the contention is honest, if the difficulties arise out of sincere differences of opinion and honest diversity of viewpoints, no matter how few persons may be involved, no matter how apparently trivial the misunderstanding, a conciliating commission can always be had to pass upon the merits of the controversy. (277.6) 25:3.9 4. Conciliators to the Local Universes. In this larger work of a universe the commissioners are of great assistance to both the Melchizedeks and the Magisterial Sons and to the constellation rulers and the hosts of personalities concerned with the co-ordination and administration of the one hundred constellations. The different orders of seraphim and other residents of the headquarters spheres of a local universe also avail themselves of the help and decisions of the referee trios. (278.1) 25:3.10 It is almost impossible to explain the nature of those differences which may arise in the detailed affairs of a system, a constellation, or a universe. Difficulties do develop, but they are very unlike the petty trials and travails of material existence as it is lived on the evolutionary worlds. (278.2) 25:3.11 5. Conciliators to the Superuniverse Minor Sectors. From the problems of local universes the commissioners are advanced to the study of questions arising in the minor sectors of their superuniverse. The farther they ascend inward from the individual planets, the fewer are the material duties of the divine executioner; gradually he assumes a new role of mercy-justice interpreter, at the same time — being quasi-material — keeping the commission as a whole in sympathetic touch with the material aspects of its investigations. (278.3) 25:3.12 6. Conciliators to the Superuniverse Major Sectors. The character of the work of the commissioners continues to change as they advance. There is less and less of misunderstanding to adjudicate and more and more of mysterious phenomena to explain and interpret. From stage to stage they are evolving from arbiters of differences to explainers of mysteries — judges evolving into interpretative teachers. Arbiters of those who through ignorance permit difficulties and misunderstandings to arise, they once were; but they are now becoming instructors of those who are sufficiently intelligent and tolerant to avoid clashes of mind and wars of opinions. The higher a creature’s education, the more respect he has for the knowledge, experience, and opinions of others. (278.4) 25:3.13 7. Conciliators to the Superuniverse. Here the conciliators become co-ordinate — four mutually understood and perfectly functioning arbiter-teachers. The divine executioner is divested of retributive power and becomes the physical voice of the spirit trio. By this time these counselors and teachers have become expertly familiar with most of the actual problems and difficulties encountered in the conduct of superuniverse affairs. Thus they become wonderful advisers and wise teachers of the ascending pilgrims who are in residence on the educational spheres surrounding the headquarters worlds of the superuniverses. (278.5) 25:3.14 All conciliators serve under the general supervision of the Ancients of Days and under the immediate direction of the Image Aids until such time as they are advanced to Paradise. During the Paradise sojourn they report to the Master Spirit who presides over the superuniverse of their origin. (278.6) 25:3.15 The superuniverse registries do not enumerate those conciliators who have passed beyond their jurisdiction, and such commissions are widely scattered through the grand universe. The last report of registry on Uversa gives the number operating in Orvonton as almost eighteen trillion commissions — over seventy trillion individuals. But these are only a very small fraction of the multitude of conciliators that have been created in Orvonton; that number is of an altogether higher magnitude and is the equivalent of the total number of Havona Servitals, with allowances for the transmutation into Graduate Guides. (278.7) 25:3.16 From time to time, as the numbers of the superuniverse conciliators increase, they are translated to the council of perfection on Paradise, from which they subsequently emerge as the co-ordinating corps evolved by the Infinite Spirit for the universe of universes, a marvelous group of beings which is constantly increasing in numbers and efficiency. By experiential ascent and Paradise training they have acquired a unique grasp of the emerging reality of the Supreme Being, and they roam the universe of universes on special assignment. (279.1) 25:3.17 The members of a conciliating commission are never separated. A group of four forever serve together just as they were originally associated. Even in their glorified service they continue to function as quartets of accumulated cosmic experience and perfected experiential wisdom. They are eternally associated as the embodiment of the supreme justice of time and space. 4. Technical Advisers (279.2) 25:4.1 These legal and technical minds of the spirit world were not created as such. From the early supernaphim and omniaphim, one million of the most orderly minds were chosen by the Infinite Spirit as the nucleus of this vast and versatile group. And ever since that far-distant time, actual experience in the application of the laws of perfection to the plans of evolutionary creation has been required of all who aspire to become Technical Advisers. (279.3) 25:4.2 The Technical Advisers are recruited from the ranks of the following personality orders: (279.4) 25:4.3 1. The Supernaphim. (279.5) 25:4.4 2. The Seconaphim. (279.6) 25:4.5 3. The Tertiaphim. (279.7) 25:4.6 4. The Omniaphim. (279.8) 25:4.7 5. The Seraphim. (279.9) 25:4.8 6. Certain Types of Ascending Mortals. (279.10) 25:4.9 7. Certain Types of Ascending Midwayers. (279.11) 25:4.10 At the present time, not counting the mortals and midwayers who are all of transient attachment, the number of Technical Advisers registered on Uversa and operating in Orvonton is slightly in excess of sixty-one trillion. (279.12) 25:4.11 Technical Advisers frequently function as individuals but are organized for service and maintain common headquarters on the spheres of assignment in groups of seven. In each group at least five must be of permanent status, while two may be of temporary association. Ascending mortals and ascending midway creatures serve on these advisory commissions while pursuing the Paradise ascent, but they do not enter the regular courses of training for Technical Advisers, nor do they ever become permanent members of the order. (279.13) 25:4.12 Those mortals and midwayers who serve transiently with the advisers are chosen for such work because of their expertness in the concept of universal law and supreme justice. As you journey toward your Paradise goal, constantly acquiring added knowledge and enhanced skill, you are continuously afforded the opportunity to give out to others the wisdom and experience you have already accumulated; all the way in to Havona you enact the role of a pupil-teacher. You will work your way through the ascending levels of this vast experiential university by imparting to those just below you the new-found knowledge of your advancing career. In the universal regime you are not reckoned as having possessed yourself of knowledge and truth until you have demonstrated your ability and your willingness to impart this knowledge and truth to others. (280.1) 25:4.13 After long training and actual experience, any of the ministering spirits above the status of cherubim are permitted to receive permanent appointment as Technical Advisers. All candidates voluntarily enter this order of service; but having once assumed such responsibilities, they may not relinquish them. Only the Ancients of Days can transfer these advisers to other activities. (280.2) 25:4.14 The training of Technical Advisers, begun in the Melchizedek colleges of the local universes, continues to the courts of the Ancients of Days. From this superuniverse training they proceed to the “schools of the seven circles” located on the pilot worlds of the Havona circuits. And from the pilot worlds they are received into the “college of the ethics of law and the technique of Supremacy,” the Paradise training school for the perfecting of Technical Advisers. (280.3) 25:4.15 These advisers are more than legal experts; they are students and teachers of applied law, the laws of the universe applied to the lives and destinies of all who inhabit the vast domains of the far-flung creation. As time passes, they become the living law libraries of time and space, preventing endless trouble and needless delays by instructing the personalities of time regarding the forms and modes of procedure most acceptable to the rulers of eternity. They are able so to counsel the workers of space as to enable them to function in harmony with the requirements of Paradise; they are the teachers of all creatures concerning the technique of the Creators. (280.4) 25:4.16 Such a living library of applied law could not be created; such beings must be evolved by actual experience. The infinite Deities are existential, hence are compensated for lack of experience; they know all even before they experience all, but they do not impart this nonexperiential knowledge to their subordinate creatures. (280.5) 25:4.17 Technical Advisers are dedicated to the work of preventing delay, facilitating progress, and counseling achievement. There is always a best and right way to do things; there is always the technique of perfection, a divine method, and these advisers know how to direct us all in the finding of this better way. (280.6) 25:4.18 These exceedingly wise and practical beings are always closely associated with the service and work of the Universal Censors. The Melchizedeks are provided with an able corps. The rulers of the systems, constellations, universes, and superuniverse sectors are all bountifully supplied with these technical or legal reference minds of the spiritual world. A special group act as law counselors to the Life Carriers, advising these Sons concerning the extent of permissible departure from the established order of life propagation and otherwise instructing them respecting their prerogatives and latitudes of function. They are the advisers of all classes of beings regarding the proper usages and techniques of all spirit-world transactions. But they do not directly and personally deal with the material creatures of the realms. (280.7) 25:4.19 Besides counseling regarding legal usages, Technical Advisers are equally devoted to the efficient interpretation of all laws concerning creature beings — physical, mindal, and spiritual. They are available to the Universal Conciliators and to all others who desire to know the truth of law; in other words, to know how the Supremacy of Deity may be depended upon to react in a given situation having factors of an established physical, mindal, and spiritual order. They even essay to elucidate the technique of the Ultimate. (281.1) 25:4.20 Technical Advisers are selected and tested beings; I have never known one of them to go astray. We have no records on Uversa of their ever having been adjudged in contempt of the divine laws they so effectively interpret and so eloquently expound. There is no known limit to the domain of their service, neither has any been placed upon their progress. They continue as advisers even to the portals of Paradise; the whole universe of law and experience is open to them. 5. The Custodians of Records on Paradise (281.2) 25:5.1 From among the tertiary supernaphim in Havona, certain of the senior chief recorders are chosen as Custodians of Records, as keepers of the formal archives of the Isle of Light, those archives which stand in contrast to the living records of registry in the minds of the custodians of knowledge, sometimes designated the “living library of Paradise.” (281.3) 25:5.2 The recording angels of the inhabited planets are the source of all individual records. Throughout the universes other recorders function regarding both formal records and living records. From Urantia to Paradise, both recordings are encountered: in a local universe, more of the written records and less of the living; on Paradise, more of the living and less of the formal; on Uversa, both are equally available. (281.4) 25:5.3 Every occurrence of significance in the organized and inhabited creation is a matter of record. While events of no more than local importance find only a local recording, those of wider significance are dealt with accordingly. From the planets, systems, and constellations of Nebadon, everything of universe import is posted on Salvington; and from such universe capitals those episodes are advanced to higher recording which pertain to the affairs of the sector and supergovernments. Paradise also has a relevant summary of superuniverse and Havona data; and this historic and cumulative story of the universe of universes is in the custody of these exalted tertiary supernaphim. (281.5) 25:5.4 While certain of these beings have been dispatched to the superuniverses to serve as Chiefs of Records directing the activities of the Celestial Recorders, not one has ever been transferred from the permanent roll call of their order. 6. The Celestial Recorders (281.6) 25:6.1 These are the recorders who execute all records in duplicate, making an original spirit recording and a semimaterial counterpart — what might be called a carbon copy. This they can do because of their peculiar ability simultaneously to manipulate both spiritual and material energy. Celestial Recorders are not created as such; they are ascendant seraphim from the local universes. They are received, classified, and assigned to their spheres of work by the councils of the Chiefs of Records on the headquarters of the seven superuniverses. There also are located the schools for training Celestial Recorders. The school on Uversa is conducted by the Perfectors of Wisdom and the Divine Counselors. (281.7) 25:6.2 As the recorders advance in universe service, they continue their system of dual recording, thus making their records always available to all classes of beings, from those of the material order to the high spirits of light. In your transition experience, as you ascend from this material world, you will always be able to consult the records of, and to be otherwise conversant with, the history and traditions of your status sphere. (282.1) 25:6.3 The recorders are a tested and tried corps. Never have I known of the defection of a Celestial Recorder, and never has there been discovered a falsification in their records. They are subjected to a dual inspection, their records being scrutinized by their exalted fellows from Uversa and by the Mighty Messengers, who certify to the correctness of the quasi-physical duplicates of the original spirit records. (282.2) 25:6.4 While the advancing recorders stationed on the subordinate spheres of record in the Orvonton universes number trillions upon trillions, those of attained status on Uversa are not quite eight million in number. These senior or graduate recorders are the superuniverse custodians and forwarders of the sponsored records of time and space. Their permanent headquarters are in the circular abodes surrounding the area of records on Uversa. They never leave the custody of these records to others; as individuals they may be absent, but never in large numbers. (282.3) 25:6.5 Like those supernaphim who have become Custodians of Records, the corps of Celestial Recorders is of permanent assignment. Once seraphim and supernaphim are mustered into these services, they will respectively remain Celestial Recorders and Custodians of Records until the day of the new and modified administration of the full personalization of God the Supreme. (282.4) 25:6.6 On Uversa these senior Celestial Recorders can show the records of everything of cosmic import in all Orvonton since the far-distant times of the arrival of the Ancients of Days, while on the eternal Isle the Custodians of Records guard the archives of that realm which testify to the transactions of Paradise since the times of the personification of the Infinite Spirit. 7. The Morontia Companions (282.5) 25:7.1 These children of the local universe Mother Spirits are the friends and associates of all w
