Amber is the founder and facilitator of Alchemy Rites, the iSoma practitioner training course and host of Deep Currents podcast. In this episode she reflects on the origins of this deep and transformational work, its evolution and its future. We chat about the importance of rites of passage for personal growth and healing amidst modern relational challenges. Amber's work highlights the power of emotional healing through relationship, connection and community and the need for this in an increasingly fractured world. We explore the tension of being of service to something greater while navigating personal needs, how we might connect more deeply to self, nature and others in daily life and the importance of contact - referencing the work of Duey Freeman.  This was recorded and released at the end of the calendar year and at the end of the Alchemy Rites program and so the theme of endings and new beginnings runs throughout our conversation. Today I'm thrilled to bring you my great friend and remarkable and wonderful guest, Amber Hawken. Amber is coming onto the show for the second time we did an episode all the way back in Episode 11. In that episode, we spoke a lot about masculine-feminine dynamics.  Since our last recording, Amber has taken her deep work with healing trauma into the male space and now co-facilitates retreats for men. We talk about her journey into men's work in this episode. We cover a lot of common challenges she sees that show up for men. As well as things that present as the challenges and then the things that tend to actually be going on beneath the surface. We talk about this deep piece around inadequacy and the fear of inadequacy for men. There's so much beauty in what we talk about here and I absolutely love having these conversations with Amber. Regardless of a few tech issues we had, a truly wonderful chat ensued. I trust you'll get something from it. A few years ago I received a phone call that would change my life forever. Nardia was away in Sydney presenting a workshop. I was at home on the Gold Coast with a friend planning for a huge event we were putting on for men. My focus was deep in planning and ideation.   The phone rang, I saw Nards' name on the screen and almost didn't answer because I was so in deep focus mode. I answered thinking something must be up seeing as she didn't just message a little update after her workshop ended.   She spoke two words: “I'm pregnant”. Well, fuck me if that didn't pull me out of focus mode immediately! At that moment things came up and shifted in me - a process of change and evolution started. Not only was facing fatherhood but the birth, and before that, all the preparation leading into the day our child came into the world.   I'm fortunate to have spent time on my own awareness, in growth, and have good people and men around me, so I was able to prepare myself for these moments and experiences and shifts. But most men don't have this, we don't have support - truly - for becoming a father, for the actual birth experience and supporting our partner, and for the lead up to that day.   Well, now we do. On today's podcast, I am speaking to a friend of mine Ryan Pope, whose partner, Amber Hawken from Episode ) recently gave birth to their son. In this episode: Ryan has since gone on to create a program and experience for men to prepare for these three stages: the pregnancy stage, the birth itself, and then stepping into fatherhood. I am pumped to talk about his own journey and how this process is formed. In this episode, we dive into all of that. While everyone's experiences are different, the stages we men go through and are asked to step into to become fathers have many consistent throughlines. Ryan and I explore that in this episode.   I hope and trust you'll gain something from this episode, including - I estimate - a bunch of further questions. If so - good. Questions, when followed with curiosity, allow answers. Answers allow options. When it comes to living a better life - options are important. Dive in. share. Rate and review - I appreciate your support in getting this in front of more men.   Ryan's Bio Ryan Pope is a chiropractor, breathwork instructor and holistic health and lifestyle coach. He is the CEO of Powerhouse Mind Body Chiro, a multidisciplinary wellness centre on the Gold Coast in Australia and Becoming The Mountain, a mentoring and events business focused on preparing men physically, mentally and emotionally for their rite of passage into fatherhood. Ryan facilitates mindfulness, and men's work and co-facilitates at Alchemy, a multi-modality healing and transformational retreat for men and women. Today's episode is a bit of a sneak peek behind the curtains of my own work life… today I am going to be introducing you to three amazing and very different women who I've got in my corner.  Over the past 12 years, I have worked with coaches in various capacities to support my continued learning, professional and personal development.  These coaches have ranged in style from pure business coaches to NLP and life coaches, through to mindset coaches and the more holistic and what I would describe as spiritual coaches.   Each has supported me at a different phase and season of my life to navigate a challenge, uplevel my skills or help me focus on bringing my A Game in the area of my work or life that I've needed at that time.  Let's face it, the past two years have been a total shit show and if I'm honest, so has been my mindset and the state of my business at times, which is why in the past 2 years I have been working with not 1, but 3 coaches to support me in the various aspects of my life and work.  And today, I'm going to introduce you to these amazing women who have got my back! Tina Tower, Michelle Broadbent & Amber Hawken.  In today's conversation, we are covering everything from  Why you would want a coach How coaches have supported them to get to where they are today What to look for when hiring a coach The various models of coaching and how to decide what's right for you Plus, they answer the question “Do coaches have coaches?” I'm hoping that after this episode that if you are feeling like it's time to level up in your business or career, that you're feeling a little stagnant and are looking for your next challenge or that you just need someone to keep you accountable, that this will be the little kick in the backside that you needed, to go seek out your own coach and prepare to take great leaps forward!  BIOs Tina Tower started her first business at age 20, a small tutoring centre and educational toy store that over 5 years she transformed into a franchise of 35 Begin Bright centres employing 120 staff.   After the franchise was acquired in 2016, she started coaching other service-based business owners only to find herself constantly repeating herself, which led her to the world of online coaching.   Today Tina has run several online programs, however, her game-changer has been Her Empire Builder, which I am fortunate to be part of!  Her Empire Builder is a membership program supporting female entrepreneurs to establish and grow their online businesses.  She is on a mission to help 100 women build a $1million a year business by 2025. Tina has been instrumental in helping me navigate the online business world, which I can tell you is a massive shift from the world of bricks and mortar businesses!  Michelle Broadbent is a business strategist with a 20-year career as a trusted advisor to female entrepreneurs across a vast array of industries.  I have observed Michelle from afar for a few years before finding myself with direct access to her through Tina's HEB program, where I promptly jumped on her services with a desperate plea for help as I navigated my way out of the downturn resulting from COVID.   Michelle has been a realistic voice of reason, offering practical solutions and operational support to cut through the overwhelm and help me stay focused on what really matters! Amber Hawken, you may be familiar with as one of my very first guests on the podcast back in Episode 4, Transforming Leadership with a Calm Mind, which was actually how I met Amber!  It was after this episode that I said, “I need to work with you!” and here we are today! I affectionately refer to Amber as my “woo woo” coach as her teachings, perspectives and lessons go far deeper into the fibres of our being. As Amber describes, she has been working with humans for more than a decade and reverences our natural ability to emotionally and mentally self-heal and spiritually actualise.   Starting out her career as a radiation therapist, she transitioned away from the industry in 2012 and has since explored ancient cultures, different dimensions and bridged east and west. With a pragmatic mind and a country girl spirit, she has a unique blend of practical and down to earth approaches to the arena of therapy, embodied healing, integration, energy, and consciousness.   LINKS  Tina Tower https://www.tinatower.com  Instagram @tina_tower Michelle Broadbent  https://www.michellebroadbent.com.au  Instagram @michbroadbent Amber Hawken https://amberhawken.com  Instagram @amber_hawken Mel Marsden  Insta

The primal approach is about doing less, better. This podcast is the epitome of an example of organic self-discovery. Adam shares how it was one foot in front of the other for him. Listening to the big nudges and following the subtle pulls of what felt right for him and of course, moving towards what was both confronting but liberating. The adjective primal describes something that's essential or basic, like the primal urge to protect yourself and your family from harm. The Latin root of primal is primus, which means first. If your friend talks about his primal self, he means the most basic, important part of who he is. Adam is a living breathing experiment of what it looks and feels like when we strip everything back to the basics. “After lots of reading, research and curiosity, I was lucky enough to stumble across the caveman diet (paleo). Within a few weeks of starting to eat a more nutrient rich wholefood diet, my health dramatically improved. My thyroid was healing. As I started to improve more and more, I realised getting back to basics and focusing on the simple things were really important for me. Kicking my shoes off and getting barefoot has been powerful. Working in the mines gave me a high paying job but I was miserable. Shift work and all-nighters were shitty. It was a scary decision, but I quit my job to travel Australia. I had zero plans but to get back into nature and just immerse myself into some beautiful scenery and see where the road would take me.” – Adam Kavanagh Some of the points we weave in and out of include: How long Adam hid his symptoms of food intolerances, depression, anxiety attacks and everything else that came with hyperthyroidism. The doctors' suggestions for a *solution* that lead him to shifting to a paleo diet. Adam's inner process for leaving the mines: his fears, hesitations, conditioning and action plan. His journey to Africa that was a strategy for his wellbeing and ultimately supported his decision to leaves the mines. What it was like to meet the locals, community and be invited into the indigenous community in outback Australia. His step-by-step process to stripping things back to as clean and simple as possible and the improvement in his wellbeing. What it's like to eat and live off the land using indigenous tracking techniques, a bow and arrow and fire pit cooking. His three-week experience of being on the reality TV show, Naked and Afraid where he was dropped in the middle of no man's land in a part of Africa with a woman he'd never met, naked and had to survive without assistance for three weeks. How he survived one of his most confronting encounters in the outback including being ripped up by a wild boar and collecting honey from killer bees. What he believes is the most important skill of all for surviving the outback. What he learned from the land and the indigenous friends he made who now feel like family to him. What he's now doing (taking people to have bush experiences, working with fire making and re-wilding). Is it worth it?... I have a really rad friend called Benny and he developed an app based on vice optimisation. Basically, you check in the next day after getting on the booze and decided if it was worth it or not. This reflection practice, alone, has proven to support humans in staying in integrity and showing signs of increased happiness by up to 400%. I actually made that up that stat, but who hasn't been 400% more stoked when they've been able to pause and shift direction from an otherwise destructive path? Exactly. I borrowed my mate Benny's idea and held that question up with a magnifying glass to my life and business. My priority is joy, that's my measuring stick for 'worth it'. Because - joy. Usually, people look at the return and if it's shiny or powerful looking enough, they sacrifice the juiciness and don't question the burnout factor or the destruction of busyness. In fact, there's a virus nestled in the minds of humanity that if it had a voice it would say, "The more time and energy you put in, the more worth it, it is. Never mind the collateral damage to your mental health, wellbeing, relationships and happiness - it's the outcome that counts”. It would also be in Trump's voice…..maybe, I don't know. But you get the idea. How often are we sacrificing happiness, joy, spaciousness, peace, love and orgasms for a cost we will pay 10 x time, at least, sometime in the future? I have been known to be guilty of such things and right now is a great time to pull things apart and examine what's working, honest and fulfilling and what's not. Below is a solo-session podcast talking you through the process. My anthem is - self-lead geniuses for the win. You being the genius, me leading you to the water and you drinking form your own genius pond. Have a listen here. There is a step by step on the page as well as a 12-minute breakdown of how to do it. I hope you enjoy looking at the inside of your life; the sacredness and ceremony of energetic  flow itself.  And while we are on the topic of things that are worth it. SuperCharged is almost full. All you fence-sitters, let's jump or you will miss it and it'll be sad and you'll have to turn to Ben and Jerry's half baked ice-cream to grieve the spot you didn't claim as yours. Proces: Stpe 1. Grab a piece of paper and split it into three columns.  Column 1 = list. Column 2 = is it worth it? Column 3 = action. Step 2. Write your list of the following in column 1 List all the things you do in a day, week, month and year. List the 10 relationships you invest the most time in. The three things you spend the most money on. List the 10 thoughts that ruminate through your mind.` The top five food/beverages you ingest. The beliefs you am currently choosing to believe about money, time, energy and making stuff happen! Step 3. Assess what is worth it or not and mark it with a Y or N. Step 4.  Next to the things that are an N, write what action you will take to either reduce the amount of time/energy/money invested or remove it altogether. Enjoy. 011 How men can help women feel safe with Amber Hawken

Everyday Legends

Understanding Women's need for safety I’m very excited about today's guest, a good friend of mine in the first woman on our show. Miss Amber Hawken.  I've been very fortunate to be her friend for some time. And that has been both in just two humans connecting on a level that we get each other, but also because of, you know, where we're at and the work that we do. And that's one of the major reasons why I wanted to bring Amber onto the show. Because of the insight, the skills, the expertise she has in helping people get the shit together. I wanted to bring her on because as a woman, I believe she has a beautiful and unique perspective for men, as women of course do. And I will talk to many more women on the show. I wanted to speak to Amber to get a bit of a woman's perspective for men, but more specifically, and as you hear in this podcast, I wanted to speak to the idea of the conversation of safety.  I've done plenty of posts about this in the past, that speak somewhere along the lines to: “Men, she needs to feel safe with you.”  They usually get a monumental response from women and from guys sometimes “Yes, and okay, please tell me more or make sense of this.” And also "It should go both ways."  And so in this episode with Amber we’ll explore that; the idea of safety. What that is to women, to the feminine and in with it, we actually go into looking at the masculine and feminine; those modes. In us, as individuals, as well as how that plays out in our relationships; how do we understand these aspects and modes and energies in us? Amber's got some beautiful, uh, personal stories that she shares in amongst this. For guys, you might want to pass on some of this stuff to some of your female partners. Also to any of my gay audience, there's a lot here speaking to the feminine in anyone. So it doesn't really matter who you are. I think you can get a lot from this and from Amber. Including any female listeners, for sure. See below for some tools from Amber and how to access more from her. A little of the ‘formal’ bio:  Cause I love it. And it goes:"In a society that capitalises on our deepest fears, doubts and insecurities people no longer have the courage to show themselves, be themselves, live for themselves, think for themselves. Alas, we get so lost in this trap of gratification and escape that we live empty lives, trying to fulfil a version of someone else's perfect. It's a fucking tragedy. Amber's work is dedicated to passing on practical principles for spiritual evolution and a magnificent life. And for that four ingredients are required: vulnerability, mindfulness, a great sense of humour and purpose.” As always, if you take something from this, please share it with me, let us know, share it with someone else, take the episode and share it with someone that you think might get a lot from this. Reach out; let me know that you're listening. And of course, you know, I'm going to ask this, make sure that you follow subscribe, click, download, and leave us a rating and a review. It gives us so much support in getting this in front of other eyes and ears that need it, that can benefit from it. And with that said, let's get into the show.   Mike’s main lessons/takeaways: This can be a HUGE topic to start exploring for men if you haven’t explored safety and the masculine/feminine. This is a nice starting point, and the perspective of women is easily the most powerful way to learn this. Imagine sourcing your sense of power and love from within, forever. This episode is about how to use intimacy, with self and others, in order to move through pain, discomfort and resistance to create a life of fulfilment and truest expression as a sovereign being.  Sovereignty in its most simple form is being self-governed. You are not swayed or lead by internal or external environments. You are the leader, the creator and the seer of your world and life, period. Not only is woman exceptionally fierce and an embodiment of love, but she is also a dear friend of mine who I've been energetically held by. Between and during global ventures, I work with female spiritual leaders and seekers across the globe. My mission is to activate an unshakable internal world and to align high-vibrational energetic behavioral patterns with sacred purpose. I specialize in Sovereignty and the Sacred Feminine, love plant dancing to gangster rap and adventuring the mountains with my boyfriend and baby sister." The bottom line of the interview explores the following (and then some): What does sovereignty mean? How your thoughts, actions, mess are yours..and then what's beyond that? Moving beyond our personality structure Free will and how to exercise your power of choice Burning the pushing paradigm Holding yourself and landing in your body when we are re writing codes in our consciousness The work is invisible and where our invitation is The rejection of ‘trust' is the old masculine..and something to embrace Knowing your kingdom to govern it Understanding we have operated from the wounded feminine and what it takes to shift that Grieving adjustments as a man to embracing the feminine energy The key to unlocking the leverage of connection and surrender to source and flow Noticing the wounded marline and feminine within and how do the divine versions interplay Integrating all four parts of our divinity into one Trusting ideas, inspirations and goals as a GUIDE to your life not a ‘pipe dream' How we are fearing the divine love of the feminine which is the opposing force magnetic to the patriarchy..which is what we are dissolving How to release analysis, paralysis, control and judgment through this work Allowing this all to be simple, releasing control and contraction and order to own your true power Connect with Courtney below: Website Instagram CHALLENGE: Righteo, If you are enjoying the show, The Amber Hawken Podcast is available to subscribe to on your chosen platform  - iTunes, Spotify, Libsyn - and if you enjoyed an episode, please pop a review on the bottom and let us know your biggest takeaway! Humans (including men) are relational beings, This episode explores some of the more hands-on work for men, and the masculine, that is often overlooked, underestimated or displaced by cognitive therapy alone. We dive into the role of relating to the world, others, self, source, emotions and everything as fundamental to rebuilding the divine masculine in a healthy way. We cover deep and wide avenues in this chat including: What presence and being in ‘flow' looks and feels like and appreciating the contrast of numbness as a result of a severed connection to source How a lot of men/people surrogate needs of touch and feel with women when they actually need that vital connection with men also How to restore vitality to mens/all beings lives and how to actively be influenced at every level Exploring the patterns in different types of addictions that coincide from a lack of certain needs being met as a child How many attachment styles and codependency habits develop as a result of trauma Exploring the difference between somatic and cognitive therapy; why we need more than speaking in order to heal Denying our nature of being relational beings and how disconnection has been celebrated in men.. and the damage that ensues as a result of this denial Clarifying true power (influence) and control and how control is a lack of trust and shutting down The piece for women in this work is creating openings for men in our world and how to do that Why for some men, it can be exhausting to remove walls and remain vulnerable, even in the face of vulnerability A message from Michael for men who get frozen in the face of confronting their own walls and vulnerabilities Why letting yourself feel, be influenced and be affected in relationships is empowering for all My favourite bit was - all of that. We did this live in Costa Rica on the second last day of a retreat she was running that I dropped into to say hi and connect with her and our mutual friends and her co-hosts, Jeremy Goldberg and Traver Boehm.  Yes, life is delicious. Both Leila and I get lost in the flow of this topic and forget multiple times we are even on a podcast recording. We both share intimate experiences we've had unpacking some pretty messy times in our hearts and minds so you have real-life examples of how to do some of the work from birth to now that will help you lift and raise your vibration.  We unpack in detail the powerful philosophies of yoga, the soul, trauma, healing and practical techniques to build internal connection, energy and overall re-integration of ourselves as a whole being.  I know, right? Fucking rad.  Some of my fav points covered: Discerning what it is to be a human and the connection between infinite and our human sense of “me”. The three aspects of the soul; “Sat Chit Ananda” (Satcitānanda, Satchidānanda, or Sat-cit-ānanda (Sanskrit: सच्चिदानन्द) ? Are you leading or are you being lead? And whatever the answer….is it a conscious decision. This podcast made me hurt from laughing and cracked me open with its truth. It's with the brilliant,  Traver Boehm. Traver is the author of Today I Rise, a TEDx speaker and men's coach, currently practicing intentional nomadism. He is the founder of the Man Uncivilized Movement redefining the way around the globe experience their masculinity by uniquely blending both the Primal Masculine with the Divine. What I love about this podcast is that I know in my heart of hearts, just by listening people will have some profound shifts and life insights. Traver is the kind of man that makes the feminine feel safe because, within himself, he's done, and continues to do the integration work of his shadows. But most of all, he'd be too humble to say so. In this episode, we unpack the history of masculine trauma, the light, dark and gold of the shadows and the evolutionary consciousness and importance of our collective healing. We unpack how he came to write his freshly published and genuinely soul-awakening book, The Uncivilised Man. A few of  the many points we cover: How the masculine unconsciously or consciously outsource their emotional healing to the feminine What's in the shadows of the collective masculine What a man can do to make a woman feel safe The history of how men became civilised, suppressed and traumatized and the ripple effect that we are now facing. The devil and savior of social media and its connection to depression and healing How the birth of the Civilised concept evolved from a conversation about Mc Donalds. What a shadow is and how to find the gold in the shadows and or reclaim the power that's maybe there The red flags that there is trauma to be worked through and how it plays out in a relationship and life How the masculine shadow triggers the feminine shadow and how the feminine can make the moves first to catalyse healing What steps you can take to heal and move towards the truest most conscious version of yourself? Compassion, compassion and more compassion. CHALLENGE: Find someone you can trust and have an honest conversation with, and share what your written reply to this question is (writing for one minute) “if my pain could speak to me today it would say”… Pain has depth, you have to go to a depth to reach pain.  You have to breathe to find it and then breathe to heal it. Be patient, love.  If you'd like to bloom, you must first be willing to be buried.  Sit in the mud, let it wash over you, let the tears wash you clean, step into the freedom of your pain and let it cleanse you of blame and then, watch your confidence rise up and present itself love.  After overcoming a life full of trauma, physical and sexual abuse, near-death experiences, breaking her back and being widowed, Erika Cramer found herself drowning in pain and sadness trying to numb everything she had been through. These life changing experiences finally lead her to life coaching where she went on a deep path to personal growth and healing. As a confidence coach she is here to guide women to living a life where they seek progress, not perfection. She is taking a bold stand for women owning their throne and reclaiming their confidence. What I loved most about this episode is that Erika wanted to lick my face and I wanted to lick hers. Translation: We vibed, and these kinds of conversations are full of flow, soul, insight and deep transformation for listenings.  We touched on: How patience and perseverance through the rough shit is where confidence is learnt and cultivated.  If you dont choose to connect with others through transparency and honesty, you will feel more alone and helpless, and will stunt your expansion and burry your esteem.  Trust in self and life is built by committing to doing the work, and then acting on it.  Ownership of your experience should not be as simple as a Pinterest quote on a wall;  it's about deep healing, purging and profound insight that comes from all of the above.  Responsibility is not bypassing; you cannot be grateful and use your painful experiences until you've transcended the hurt and victim mentality.  Purpose through hardship and experience is the result of first becoming uncomfortable and then choosing, with an attitude of oneness, to share, teach and support others.  It is deeply delicious and it's going to rock your mind and heart. Listen to the episode here:   You can find more of Erika here: Website and Info on the Sistahood Instagram @thequeenofconfidence Podcast Youtube CHALLENGE I got so excited that I forgot the challenge questions SO, I'm going to make one for you.  Go and read, “Loving What Is”, by Byron Katie. I'm dead serious, it's a wicked and essential read to accelerating self reflection and self awareness. Let's talk mens integrity and mental health. We are all connected to men in some way. We all have (or had) a father, we may have male siblings, friends, or intimate relationships, and we're all intimately connected and affected by the mental wellbeing and integrity of men past, present and future.  Part of the discussion of working through oppression and repression and patriarchy is how to prevent this from happening and help heal the unconscious within each person (specifically men in this podcast) that's fuelling this in the first place. It's being present with how this was created, building unity rather than separation from what we want to change, and support this through voice, action, unconditional love and expression. We need to heal together, not apart. Mike is a men's coach, author, and wannabe professional stone fruit eater. Mike is the founder of The School of Personal Mastery – a group coaching program for everyday men wanting to get their shit together and achieve greater success and happiness in their career, relationships, and life - without the guilt and hang-ups.  With loving straight talk, Mike passionately makes personal development relatable, accessible, and applicable for everyday men to better help themselves and others. He is also the creator of Beyond The Beers, a show and series of live events for men taking a beer with mates to new depths, and actually talking about the shit that matters. The dynamics of this interview shifts gears rapidly as we cover: What does it mean when you ask a man “Who are you?” and how this question is not a judgement, but an invitation that will move you towards what you may not know you're missing. Understanding that avoidance or stimulation is a symptom of moving away from what we really need to pay attention to. Avoidance takes us in circles.  Examples of what it means to be in integrity with yourself as a man; thoughts, actions, words and life itself.  The struggles most men find themselves spinning around in and to identify where you are and what the next step may be. Why feeling stuck and going nowhere is the perfect place to begin a deeper inquiry. Specific questions to be able to reflect on when you feel stuck. How to move from head to heart to be able to hear oneself, hold space and transcend emotions, deepen self connection and get to know yourself better. Indoctrination to what it is to “be a man” and how we can ask the right questions to break away what no longer serves a man who wants to live in integrity.  How radical responsibility for emotions and self growth are fundamental to the collective healing. The relationship between masculine and feminine in a relationship and how our partners can reflect back our self deceptions. Fierce, impassioned, unique, devoted-to-the-cause, resilient, visionary, trailblazer type of Doulas – the kind committed to bringing the humanity, connection and compassion back to a multitude of thresholds Doulas hold space for. Doulas who travel to the brinks of places where all hope is lost, and bring humanity back to the barren.  In this episode we dive into: Demystifying the topics of oppression, self-suppression and the ways we have been taught to feel unsafe in our anger How the "good girl" mentality and not feeling 'oppressed enough' keeps us from participating in conversations that need to be had How anger serves a purpose in activating change, and how not engaging with the oppressive nature of our society is privilege in full action How to discover what you're truly passionate about How to have a healthy relationship with your anger, in a way that amplifies your work and cultivates confidence and conviction, vs. keeping yourself in a counter productive victim mindset THE CHALLENGE: Each episode of The Amber Hawken Podcast comes with a challenge and in this episode Angel challenges you to have the hard conversations: How can you initiate the uncomfortable conversations, both in real life and on social media? How can you ask better of those you know? Where are you letting things slide? How can you back these conversations up with action? My guest today is a repeat offender (guest) on the podcast. What I love most about this podcast is how much change I know is possible for anyone who listens to it. The conversation style of Jer and I becomes a crazy in depth banter where we take things to a deep level of understanding and embodiment, fast. It's just how we roll which is why I am so damn excited to announce the Ignite Your Life retreat we are running in August together in Byron Bay. Check it out here.  Okay, a little background on Jer, The man himself is a: TEDx speaker trying to make kindness cool. Watch the TEDx talk here. PhD scholar who spent the past five years studying the science of human behaviour, specifically how attitudes affect action and how we can communicate to inspire greater and lasting change. A spoken word poet who rants about love, life, and everything in between. Watch his most recent viral video here. Instagram and beautiful words @longdistancelovebombs A compassion-cultivating, day-making change agent, a kind heart, someone who believes in you. The major take aways you'll get from this episode encompass: why human beings find it so difficult to change and how to get leverage on yourself to ease that grind it's not about massive action (even though sometimes it is), it's about the little things (which we dive into everyday examples of small changes for massive results) what it really takes to turn your investment of time, energy, money and 'hopes' into actual action despite a lifetime of resistance and patterning how to call yourself out on your own bs the most effective to to make change stick what kind of damage self denial, rejection, shame and guilt about not being good enough can do and how to spot when this is playing out in your life even though it's terrifying to face at times lots of jokes, dirty ones, bad ones, sad ones, ones that no one but ourselves will laugh at.... Enjoy!

Is it possible to instantly free yourself from mum guilt?   Is there a way that you can move through fear (whether it’s fear of starting a business, sending your child to daycare or finding your voice) in a truly powerful way that sees you stepping out of victimhood every day and owning your choices?   According to my amazing friend and this week’s podcast guest, Amber Hawken, the answer is a big fat YES! And it’s so much more simple and accessible to you than you’ve ever realised.   Today I’m chatting with Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Amber Hawken, about my favourite subject in the whole world - empowerment. And how as mothers, we get to bring a whole new level of responsibility and awareness to what life feels like at our centre, so we can navigate every single part of this human experience with a whole lot more freedom and fulfilment.   I work with Amber within her businesses and have such deep admiration and respect for the way she can breakdown some of the really heavy and complex parts of life and completely shift the way our minds relate to them. She speaks straight to the hearts of mothers in this interview which I’m so grateful for, and I have no doubt you’re going to leave this episode feeling so much more capable and empowered to handle whatever is real for you right now. We talk about: - What sits at the core of all our pain and suffering - How to acknowledge and be present for our emotions AND consciously move past them - What is often sitting at the heart of mum guilt and how to move through it - Why you don’t need to know WHY you feel how you feel, and how to ask yourself empowering questions - The universal fear we all have of ‘I’m not good enough’ and how this inner victim mentality helps us fulfil our spiritual purpose - The power of unconditional love in helping us reclaim our power - Finding your centre so you can navigate when you’re at ‘cause’ or at ‘effect’ of your life - Redefining freedom and the power of perspective - Why taking responsibility for everything and everyone in your life is feeding your inner victim   A bit about Amber: Amber Hawken is a Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, a qualified Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, and a Deep State Re-Patterning Therapist working with clients via her retreats, workshops, keynotes and one-on-one therapy around emotional, mental, and spiritual evolution and fulfilment. Yup, l-o-v-e. If you are a human you will get so much out of this conversation. Warning: we go deep real quick! I'm attracting these BIG conversations about relationships, the masculine and feminine and love lately as it seems many of us are leaning in to love. Alexandra shares her own core wounds with such self compassion and vulnerability, it felt like having an intimate D & M with a friend. She brings up some hugely valuable points about the shame people can carry from moving through infidelity (and when they let that shame stop the relationship transforming in to the 2.0 version), how curiosity within our relationships creates self-awareness, and the side affects of infidelity on our sense of self. Alexandra also shares her personal experience (backed by research) about how to keep the spark alive in her own 20 year marriage which could literally change the way we approach long-term romance. We unpack relationships through these topics and so much more: How to know when to leave a relationship How to come back to yourself Why originally she resisted studying love because she was a feminist (and why that was an illusion) Why reclamation of our inner child/younger selves is the most powerful place to go to heal How active spiritual practices helped her move through the loss of her father The beauty of what can come from trauma Unpacking infidelity Dr Alexandra's favourite questions to ask clients in therapy The bravest question to ask within a relationship The silver lining of cheating The top 3 ways to get the love you want How to keep intimacy alive in long term committed relationships And so. much. more. You're gonna want to listen to this one, folks, as it could change the way you approach your intimate relationships forever.   Stand in the truth of your story I love that she describes the space between the stimulus and the response as the place where we can consciously choose how we are going to handle any situation - this is ultimately the power of mindfulness, which allows us to live with more vulnerability and open-heartedness. What a pleasure to converse about bringing science and soul together for successful relationships. Anger is an emotion that often points to another emotion Emily Ann Peterson is a singer-songwriter, creative consultant, and author of Bare Naked Bravery: How to Be Creatively Courageous. In 2013, Emily was diagnosed with a degenerative neurological hand tremor, which forever altered her two-decade livelihood as a cellist/cello teacher. Refusing to lose her life's love of expression, she knew she'd have to be brave, and man, is she that! In an act of neurological defiance, she expanded into wider mediums and broke through her creative glass ceiling, opening the door to limitless possibilities. I just had to have this woman back on the show (check out this throwback episode with her a year ago) because we always go deeeep in to our personal stories of navigating life's curveballs with humour and honesty.. the only way you get it here with me!   Emily offers so much transparency and I adore the work she is bringing to the world. In this conversation, we cover this and more: How to be brave A new way to look at 'readiness' in terms of launching a creative project Her most powerful method of self healing Unpacking what we can do with our anger The ingredients of bravery What to do when we're faced with the feeling of "this is the end of the world" How to identify emotions in your body Why it's important to inspire the emotions we desire to feel What advice she would give to her 15 year old self How we express our truth through mediums other than our voice   If you don't understand your desires, you're screwing yourself over Emily oozes a humble warmth AND a powerful fierceness that fuels her drive to be a catalyst for bravery. I've loved this conversation because we don't cover what's IN her book but the brilliance of the behind-the-scenes of what needed to happen for her book to come together. I share loads about my experience in the health and fitness worlds that ultimately led me to the work I do today, and how something like emotional eating goes deeper than our relationship to food. Time and again I've seen the one thing that can crush an otherwise empowered and successful person: lack of emotional awareness, mental empowerment, and overall self-connection. I can't stress these factors enough. If you're not seeing the results that you want from your self love affirmations, endless diets, and strict eating and exercise regimes, this message is for you. By results, I don't just mean physical, I'm talking about achieving a deep sense of emotional fulfilment and love within. If you want to look in the mirror and feel gratitude and freedom, you must learn how to work with your mind and emotions so you are no longer their servant. We discuss (to name a few): The core cause behind our unhealthy relationship to food and our body A question to ask yourself that may radically change your life An easy-peasy meditation practice The core human needs Disconnection = not living an alignment Tools and action steps to cultivate deeper connection to self Identifying our core values Emotional resiliency and why it's so effing important Understanding emotional data Discipline, self connection, and emotional resilience are REQUIRED LIFE SKILLS if you want to let go of control, radiate with confidence, and find the happiness that you deserve. Dr Jeremy Goldberg triggered tears to stream down my face in today's interview. This is somewhat uncommon for me and somehow the kindness seeping out of every cell of this human just GOT ME! The science of compassion is something Jeremy has professionally and personally studied for over a decade. From researching and working on saving the Great Barrier Reef and the world's oceans to leaving little bombs of handwritten love across the globe, the love bursting from this man is pretty freaking extraordinary. He has cultivated a strong base of over 35,000 people who are inspired by his writings on the daily and he has spoken his part about kindness on the stage of TEDx Townsville. A spoken word poet, mentor, speaker and soon to be published author,  Jeremy and I (in short) dive into: What we can ask ourselves if giving kindness to a stranger makes us feel uncomfortable. The ripple effect of compassion and how it can flow on for years to come. Starting right here, right now with your idea and letting it guide you. Noticing that at our core, we are good beings and it's just that we get in our own way. How to have big bold dreams and simultaneously let go of the outcomes. How the angst of a punk rocker was fuelled into a mission of spreading kindness. What to do with the "imposter" in our mind that says our dreams are just not good enough. The Get Shit Done restructure that needs to occur in our internal and external worlds to make lasting change. Jeremy's biggest insecurities and how following his inspiration helped transcend his self-limits.     I think our greatest lesson here is understanding that we are innately designed to love, be loved, give, receive and transform. That was my take away, and I would love to know yours - comment below and let us know! And I will leave you with this… Fuck This. We can do better. "We", as in, everyone. So, let's ask ourselves: What would the world be like if we were all just a little bit kinder? Dr Jeremy Goldberg   You can find Jeremy here: Website Instagram Facebook

Did you know that nerve impulses sent from the brain move at a speed of 274 km/h!!!!!   Our guest today, Morten Bunkholt is Norwegian Chiropractor who is inspired by the capabilities of wellness and superhuman potential. He helps us understand the natural healing philosophy of our bodies.    And our bodies are self-regulating systems and if we remove interference, it is capable of returning to peak condition - AKA homeostasis. Now there is a lot of everyday interference so it's important to have awareness around what that might be to maximise supporting the bodies natural wellbeing.   When it comes to chiropractic Morten is meticulous in attention to detail. He stands by the philosophy of sticking to a system that works and we dive into why talent isn't 10000% required for a result - you don't have the be the "best" when you have trusted and results-based method.    We dive into:   How the brain and nervous system are connected and what role chiropractic can have in removing interference.  The importance of knowing when not to adjust.  What can cause interference in the spine and how to treat it.  The three T's: trauma,  toxins and thoughts.  How the brain and nervous system interacts with our organs and the role an adjustment can assist with our bodies normal regulation and health.  Understanding that pain is the very last resort from our body trying to communicate interference with homeostasis.  Some chiropractic plans can overstimulate the nervous systems and how to become aware of that.  Getting in touch with your body for the sake of prevention rather than reaction.  The basic chiropractic philosophy and its alignment with life.  Mortens desired superpower!!!! I'm inspired by such an aligned practitioner. I am all for intuition, feeling, sensory, trust and flow. But when it comes to our bodies, the power in reconnecting and placing ourselves in the best situation to heal again can be maximised by using systems that work. In the case of our systems, systems matter.  I would love to hear from you - if any, what was the one thing you learnt about yourself and or wellbeing that you didnt know before - let us know below! The guest on today's show, Simone Griffiths, who is the co-founder of Who Gives A Crap toilet paper, has been abundantly successful in raising over $1000,000 in donations and building toilets to those in need and in turn, contributing to the reduction of the (currently) estimated, 800 children who die a day from unsanitary toilet conditions in disadvantaged countries. It all began with Simone sitting on a toilet for 50 hours straight, to raise the cash for his (successful) Kickstarter campaign which funded the first production of toilet paper.  Simon and his team have massive hearts, using recycled materials for their paper, donating 50% of all profits which funnel into said donations and considers the economy, our environment and it's people every step along the production and distribution of their product.  Simon was recognised in The Age's Melbourne magazine as one of the top 100 influential people, and in 2013 he was shortlisted as Young Entrepreneur of the Year.  What fascinates me most about this world is the variety of ways in which people discover themselves and what it is that makes them feel alive. Some of us seem to understand ourselves from a really young age, and some of us need to explore 13 different jobs, 50 countries and 3 marriages before we get it. Simon is in my opinion, someone who falls into that first category - lucky bastard. In a nutshell we discuss: How to return to goals and find your ambition again after massive (perceived) failures What is Who Gives A Crap toilet paper, and how does the business work? The concept of consumer-driven philanthropy and how it is potentially a more effective way to make an impact How the Who Gives a Crap toilet paper brand was born The best advice for ensuring you're not going to fumble over your own ego What it means to be a social entrepreneur and the impact it has at a personal level, as well as professional The process of creating a video that ultimately resulted in Simon sitting on a toilet for 50 hours straight to raise funds via a Kickstarter campaign How standing out, creating memorable experiences and interrupting the industry doesn't happen overnight, but takes patience, persistence and planning   Why it's the attention to the often overlooked details in business every single step of the way that creates momentum and customer commitment How surprise, delight and weaving your persona into your business make for excellent marketing After our interview, I went through my notes and smiled as I saw a similar pattern in Simon as I do in so many of the people I get on the show. At our core, we know who we are and what it is we are capable of, even if we don't know it consciously. It just seems that some of us are better are having a go, being different and following that contribution pull that seems to be ingrained into our human hard wiring, and we eventually end up with our heads and our hearts aligned, resulting in  the world becoming a better place. Enjoy the episode and be sure to listen right through to the end where Simon shares his ultimate Dad advice that trumps most inspirational books on the shelves. Also published at amberhawken.com We would love to hear from you over on the blog, so make sure you go and check it out. Most of all, time to switch toilet paper companies. This is definitely an explicit interview, swear words = tick! This week we chat to not one but two of our awesome, new Gold Coast friends! We've sparked quite the friendship through LOTS of good food, dancing, laughter and connection (hence the title of this episode!).  They're both EPIC-AS-GOOD humans who have so much knowledge and inspo to share with the world.  During this episode live angel card readings kind of take us on a journey of topics... but it all comes back to self-connection and truly embracing who you are.  It's an hour full of good convo and serious amounts of fun/laughter... we know you're gonna love it!  This is the stuff we talk about: Acceptance... of everything. Self-connection: why it's so important and how to practice more of it. Being honest with yourself and others. Unpacking your baggage and letting go of that sh1t. Yoga and why it's the ultimate practice to get to know yourself. Relationships and how to create meaningful ones.  Merrymaker mantra of the week: Embrace your own authentic connection. Everything we spoke about kept coming back to self-connection and awareness. They're kind of the same thing. Life is a discovery of who we truly are, peeling back all the layers and really getting to know ourselves... even though this can be a really difficult thing to put ourselves through. In being vulnerable, we allow ourselves to FLOURISH and blossom.  Links to Ambz and Jem Jem! Check out Amber's stuff over here (including her #1 book, online program and more!). Check out Jema's stuff over here (she can help you with all your nutrition needs!). Amber's book launch is happening Sunday 23 April on the Gold Coast, RSVP here! Jema's Liver Cleansing event is on Sunday 7 May on the Gold Coast, RSVP HERE! Take a listen to the episode and share with anyone you know who needs to hear more on this topic.    See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Some keywords to describe my teaching and interview style would be: confronting, vulnerable, challenging, curious, analytical, revering, wild, sarcastic, empowering and loving.  In this episode I talk about: Who I am Where I came from What I have done to get here What I do How I help people What Unfu*kwithable is What is stopping us from reaching our potential What holds us back from being unf*kwithable How we can start being unfu*kwithable right now I felt like I was just having a chat to my best friend, I hope that is what you feel like too.
