This involves demonstrating various use cases, educating the consumer on practical benefits, and positioning your brand as an attractive option through precise branding and design. About the Episode:Neville Medhora is known as the Copywriting guy. He has been creating content on the internet for almost 20 years. His earlier works include NevBlog, one of the first financial blogs online. Currently, he serves as a Copywriting Advisor for companies like Appsumo and The Hustle. He is also the owner of CopywritingCourse.com and SwipeFile.com, two leading resources for anyone looking to master the art of copywriting. In this episode of "Uploading…,” we explore what it means and what it takes to write good copy, how to write stuff that people will want to read, and how online content is evolving with AI. Neville shares essential copywriting techniques like the AIDA framework, the role of stories in content, and the importance of conciseness.Today, we'll cover:- How AI is reshaping copywriting and where human creativity still reigns supreme- Tips for creating viral, high-performing copy based on the AIDA framework- The importance of conciseness and working backward in copywritingWhat You'll Learn1. Characteristics of High-Performing Copy2. Tone of Voice and Audience Understanding3. Role of AI in Copywriting4. Storytelling and Content Effectiveness5. AIDA Framework for Better Copy6. Conciseness and Clarity in CopywritingTimestamps01:23 From learning how to write copy and training others to do the same to investing in Copy.ai04:49 Strategies for writing copy for different companies, different audiences10:25 Three levels of copywriting and the impact of AI on each15:30 The inevitability of AI involvement in content creation, how AI-human dichotomy in content will dissolve over time18:41 Writing copy for short-form video21:36 Storytelling frameworks for short-form and long-form content23:58 How to write a sales copy that converts, why a good copy does not necessarily tell a story30:10 AIDA copywriting formula — how it helps writers weave a proper argument for people to take action33:52 The essence of “kopywriting,” getting information from one brain to another37:09 What novice copywriters get wrong and how to avoid them41:32 Why good copywriting means simplifying complex ideasThe Future of Content Creation: "I think for the most part, for most content, people are just going to assume some AI was involved and it'll just be like, not a thing. Like, no one's going to care." — Neville Medhora [00:16:05 → 00:16:59]AIDA Framework for Better Copy: “Using the AIDA form is just a way to at least get, um, a properly done argument for whatever you're selling, whether it be an idea, whether it be a product, that's, that's what the AIDA is. And it's extremely powerful. People try to do all sorts of variations, but it's basically built off of that same framework, same attention, interest, desire, action. Simple.  — Neville Medhora [00:33:04 → 00:33:22]On Going Beyond Traditional Copywriting: “If you're a copywriter that could just write words, that's. That is powerful. But if you could also generate your own custom images and thanks to AI and stuff, it's a lot easier. And then if you also put all those thoughts into videos and make it compelling, you could probably get in front of a lot more people. And whatever tools that come out, I'm willing to use them. So copywriting is not just like putting pen to paper all the time. And yes, there's, like, scripts behind certain things, but also it's like, let's use any tool available to us to transmit information from one brain to another.” — Neville Medhora [00:35:02 → 00:36:08]Show notes powered by Castmagic---Have any questions about the show or topics you'd like us to explore further?Shoot us a DM; we'd love to hear from you.Want the weekly TL;DR of tips delivered to your mailbox?Check out our newsletter here.Follow us for content, clips, giveaways, & updates!Castmagic InstagramCastmagic TwitterCastmagic LinkedIn  ---Blaine Bolus - Co-Founder of CastmagicRamon Berrios - Co-Founder of CastmagicNeville Medhora - Owner of Kopy Group, LLC (CopywritingCourse.com / SwipeFile.com)

AI tools like ChatGPT are all the rage these days. While they won't write everything effectively for you, they can be a real time saver if used correctly. So rather than opening up Microsoft Word or Google Docs and wondering how you will write some compelling copy for your customers or clients, you can use a tool like ChatGPT. It'll generate headlines for you. It could help you turn product features into benefits and give you a good angle or an introduction for your emails, your sales page, or even your blog post about your latest product or service. Not only that, but these tools take away some of the mystery surrounding copywriting. In other words, they make it easier for everybody to express themselves. And if you're a writer working online, copywriting is a valuable skill because it will help you sell your products, services, books, articles, and, of course, your ideas. In this week's interview, I caught up with the expert copywriter, Neville Medhora. He runs swipefile.com, a fantastic website if you want to browse new and old copy that has stood the test of time. Neville Medhora is best known as a copywriter. But that doesn't mean he just writes copy. According to Neville, effective copywriting means communicating a message from your brain to millions of other brains using the best technology available. Hundreds of years ago, a carrier pigeon was the best option. Today, it's probably a brief email that includes curated animated GIFs. In this episode, we talk with the author and copywriter about why he dropped out of college, his direct approach to helping clients, and why he actively keeps up with marketing trends. One universal tip Neville shared that might help you (and your business) is that familiarity ruins your ability to critique something. You can't relive a first impression, so try introducing fresh eyes to your problem. It will almost always lead to better insights. If you're interested in learning how to improve your copywriting, you might like Neville's copywriting course. Listening to the MFM guys is like sitting down with your sharpest, most inquisitive, most successful friend at the local bar and having a beer while talking about how to make it in life. And there's two of them! What could be better? My First Million is one of the top ranked business podcasts in the world. Each week Sam and Shawn (and sometimes Ben Wilson, like for the one we reviewed) brainstorm new business ideas, interview business builders who are creating big, meaningful companies and perform business breakdowns in a straight-forward fashion. Basically, they say that they're your research team who spoon-feeds you interesting business insights that you'd normally have to pay for.  And we'd say they do a pretty great job of it all around. In this episode of “No Harm In Asking” Mike and Eric review “MFM” where we discuss why this podcast is consistently a winner and what past accomplishments really enable the hosts to pull this off so successfully. Additionally, as seasoned content guys, paying attention to the small things they do could really help with getting your listenership up and ensuring your past episodes can get added traction. We'll be specifically focused on their April 5, 2022 episode “Writing Your Way to Millions with Neville Medhora” where they talk about copywriting. Math and Content Marketing, who knew? Thoughts on 90-9-1 Rule Brian first heard from Neville Medhora of CopywritingCourse.com, on expectations for consumer engaging with your work. Checkout Neville's Work here - https://copywritingcourse.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK852-lnSxs Transcription 90-9-1 rule for content marketing. Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live. We've talked before about different ideas when it comes to content marketing. And this may be a big surprise to you if it's new for you. If it's not, then you'll recognize it and you won't have to get freaked out about it. So I first heard about the 90-9-1 rule by Neville from CopywritingCourse.com, you can go check out he's got a lot of great content out there in social media land. Now, this isn't a rule that just applies to Facebook, or just applies to whatever your social media is of choice. It's really a rule across the board when it comes to content. And I bet even for offline content, if you were able to track it, you would find a very similar situation. Because it really comes back to the 80/20 rule, which is it's just human nature, that if you put out enough stuff, and you're able to track, you'll find that a very small percentage do what do the most of what a very large percentage have the chance of doing if I could say it in that sense. So let me explain this. What this means is that if you add these up, they come out to 100%, right? So 90 plus nine plus 1, it comes out to 100. And represents 100%. If you took 100% of the people that are consuming your content, you would be able to take 90% and they're the people that are just lurking around, they're just watching, they're listening, they're reading, whatever you're putting out there, but they're not going to interact with it much further beyond that, okay, and this is just just the stuff you could track. I mean, let's take video for instance, this is just tracking views. So if you got 100 views only about somewhere around 90 are just gonna watch, they're not gonna, let's say it's on YouTube, they're not going to leave a thumbs up or a thumbs down, they're not going to comment, they're not going to take the link and share it with friends. That's about 90% and these are all relative terms. Obviously, the more the bigger your numbers are, the more solid these turn out to be, they're probably even more skewed in the direction of a large percentage of people not doing anything when you have fewer and fewer numbers. So 9% are going to interact a little bit. Okay, they may leave a thumbs up, they may leave a thumbs down, they may do something every once in a while they're going to do something. And then 1% is going to be your star players. So literally one out of 100, 1 out of 100 are going to leave a comment, they're going to want to talk back and forth, they're going to want to learn more about you, they may watch more than one video, they may go beyond that. And so you have to understand that you got to hit a lot of people if you want any type of measurable response back. This is not to say that the 90% aren't useful, or that they aren't doing anything, or that they won't view more of your stuff. That's not what we're saying here. They might or they may not. But you don't know you're not going to be able to track them other than a view other than a hit click here or there, that there's not much else that you'll be able to do with that you just have to realize, you have to get enough numbers, everything always I know some people really poopoo the numbers game of things, everything comes back to numbers. No matter what you're doing in business, everything comes back to numbers. Yes, you should be good at what you're doing so that the numbers you're hitting matter, and that you get better rates. But everything comes back to get more people through the quote-unquote funnel and that's all this is.

He sees the secret of copywriting to be both educational and entertaining, with the goal of installing information into the reader's head.  He's also recently published the book You're Going to Die: A Framework for Happiness, where he describes planning his life around his probable age of death and working backward, to live the life you truly want to live.  Now, Let's get better together Actions to Try or Advice to Take Is someone in your community or network doing what you want to do? The OT Entrepreneur Summit is coming May 11-20! Interviews will be sent via email to attendees (so you can watch on your own schedule) and we will have a FB group open till the end of May for us to discuss topics. Finally, I just opened registration for the 2020 dates for Therapy in the Great Outdoors- A Training Retreat for Pediatric Practitioners. Early bird rates till April 1! OK- Now for your list of 12 sure-fire ways to get more clients!!! We talked about 10 on the podcast and there are 2 more for you here in the show notes… Make a list of everyone you know and send a personal email letting them know about your services. Make sure to make it EASY for them to send referrals your way by including relevant content in the email to allow them to simply forward to a friend. Give a discount or other incentive to get people to sign up for new services by a specific deadline, and advertise this heavily in social media and in paper flyers/postcards locally. Do a brainstorm about where your ideal clients hang out locally and then leave postcards in all of those locations. Offer 15-minute inquiry calls or consultation calls to interested clients (then OVER-deliver and spend 30 minutes talking to them). During the call, simply aim to HELP in some way...not necessarily get them to pay you for services...but really it will be people who are a bit interested. This builds “know, like and trust” value with people in your community. Even if the person doesn't become your client, they have had a good experience with you being helpful...which means they may mention it to others in your community. Offer free or low-cost one-time sessions for interested people, and then have a specific offer for them if they sign up by a certain date for an assessment or services. Share relevant and helpful content (NOT just info about your services) on social media. Aim to HELP people...NOT sell your services. Every now and then, have a special offer for people who take advantage of the offer by a specific deadline. Do research on Facebook and other social media about where your ideal clients hang out online, and offer meaningful and relevant comments in these forums. (Again, aim to be helpful, not sell your services. You are building your expertise in these communities, and by helping, you will get people to know, like & trust you as a provider.) Face-to-face networking and personal connections are the BEST way to find new clients….this also takes the most time. Put yourself out there! Offer free in-services for people in your target market, or attend networking events that are NOT just for therapists. Ask your current or past clients to refer their friends, or leave online reviews of your business. Send a very specific email asking them to send new referrals your way. Make sure to make THEM the HERO! Emphasize how they will be helping others by leaving a review, as it will help people find the services they need. Provide links directly in the email so they can easily click and write a quick review. Build an email list! Most of the people who visit your website are NOT going to purchase services right at that second! You MUST have a way to capture their email to stay in touch with them because they are potential future clients! Make a short list of valuable tips or advice for your clients' problems and give it away for free to people who sign up for your email list. (Do some research on how to make a great “lead magnet” online. Also make sure to be GDPR compliant with your emails...I'll let you research that piece online.) After you have an email list, start a drip email marketing campaign to help potential clients and stay top-of-mind in your clients' and interested parties' minds. This is NOT to just bombard your audience with a request to purchase your services; it IS a series of helpful emails you send to your list on a regular basis to give them FREE helpful tips or advice to serve and care for them and their needs. Mine are set up once-a-month and I simply add an email every 30 days. When someone joins the email list, they get the first email, then the 2nd 30 days later, and so on. I have about 6 in the “bank” now that auto-send to new subscribers… this automatically allows my business to provide value to people every month for 6 months after they subscribe. (I'm aiming to get at least 2 years of emails in the bank...adding one a month right now.) Learn copywriting. Honestly, this is my one best tip for therapy practice owners. Most therapy websites are SO BAD at communicating our value to clients. Learning basic copywriting will COMPLETELY change how you write your marketing materials. My favorite resources online are Neville Medhora's Kopywriting Kourse and (Sign up for Neville's emails. They are HILARIOUS and you'll love reading them every month, all while learning how to write your own advertising / marketing / website content in an engaging way that your clients will resonate with and understand!) Building a Storybrand by Donald Miller is the BEST book resource I have found related to this topic. A must-read for all business owners. Until next time….Mind Your OT Business! :)

You know that old show “What NOT To Wear”? Well this episode of MYOTBiz is the OT business podcast version of that show. Here's my list of what NOT to do when starting your business. A few of these I learned from experience (you'll hear about my 10K mistake…I'm SO embarrassed to admit this one…and honestly, thought about editing it out of the recorded podcast more than once. But I kept it in to stick by my promise to always be honest with you all, even if it makes me not look good.) (Links are Amazon affiliate links- MYOTBiz is not monetized right now- it is a labor of love, so if you purchase any of these books, please go through the link! Gives me a tiny bit of income at no additional cost to you. Thanks!) Drum roll please…..the 9 Things NOT To Do When Starting Your Business: Don't offer too many types of services. The riches are in the niches, folks...and so is your sanity. Start by offering ONE really good service and DON'T start another until that one is successful (or totally bombs). Don't hire quickly. Sometimes we are growing (a good thing!) and get desperate for help. Hiring quickly just to fill the opening will usually be twice as much work in the long run. Slow growth is not bad. Don't think you can do your books on your own. YOU CAN'T. Run, do not walk, to hire the nearest bookkeeper or accountant who can help manage your finances. Don't price your services too low. People value what they pay for. We are all helpers by nature and want to help people. If you want to give away services, offer scholarships...but keep your prices high so people will value your services. Don't pay for an expensive website or logo. I spent way too much on mine and almost immediately regretted it, even though I love it. There is no way to tell if it was helpful to my business, but in retrospect, I think learning good copywriting is MUCH more beneficial than a pretty website or logo. Read “Building a StoryBrand” by Donald Miller and “This Book Will Teach You How to Write Better” by Neville Medhora. DIY website builders work great. I recommend Squarespace for aesthetics and for ease of use. Don't wait to manage your cash flow. I've said it once and I'll say it again: read Profit First by Mike Michalowicz. WISH I had done this when starting out!! Don't buy expensive equipment you don't truly need. Constraints make us more creative. Ask yourself: “Do I really NEED this?” before every business purchase. (Which, you might notice, I SHOULD have done before paying designers for a fancy website and logo.) :) Don't be afraid to consult a lawyer. You must ask a lawyer if you're in doubt about any legal issue. Get a good referral to an honest lawyer, ask your question(s), cough up the $300/hour, and move on with confidence that you're legally in the clear. Here's the NOLO Press book I used to set up my California corporation. Don't be afraid to spend money on a business coach when you are just starting out. This was extremely helpful to me in the early years (and NOW…just did a session last week with a business consultant to advise me about scaling and expanding my business to multiple locations in different states.)
