Horror doesn't just happen. It takes devoted special effects artists and a quirky sense of humor. This week, we head south of the border to answer the question, "What if Portlandia, but horror?" with Los Espookys (Mexico & The United States, 2018-2022), an offbeat NBC-ish horror comedy about making spooky happen. We also review Folklore, a pan-Asian anthology series, get distracted by The Perfect Host and No One Will Save You, and look forward to dream and classic gateway horrors dropping this week.

LIV golfer Brooks Koepka opened up about his struggles in the Netflix series "Full Swing." Azinger, Hicks, and Wood discuss Koepka's turnaround to win the most recent major, last month's PGA Championship, and how he's able to focus on the biggest stages in the sport. PGA TOUR standard bearer Rory McIlroy typically wins tournaments with double-digit under par scores. While the U.S. Open doesn't play that way, Faxon and Azinger think he's up for this week's challenge on and off the course while Wood says Rory's birdie game will be tested. Wood says weather won't be a factor, which will play into the hands of the USGA's pin placement. Azinger and Faxon look forward to the Los Angeles Country Club's unique challenge amid the starry landscape of its Beverly Hills neighborhood.

We kick off the new year with “The Perfect Host”; a film in which… no, that would be telling… We here at WTH are very much of the opinion that this particular film, like revenge, is best served cold. Avoid spoilers, articles and even the trailer in case you miss the opportunity to watch “The Perfect Host” completely fresh, with no idea what's to come. This episode is packed with spoilers, and we don't want you to miss that initial experience of seeing it without any idea of where it's going, so please watch it before listening. We assure you that you will be entertained, amused, baffled, surprised and a lot more besides watching this film, and, like us, come away thinking “why the hell isn't this film better known?” The only spoiler here is that all at WTH genuinely love this film; and if you like other films we have raved over, you will too. It just remains to shout “Conga!” and hope you enjoy. Watch (or re-watch) to avoid spoilers, and join us.

The Perfect Host is a dark comedy/horror/thriller movie from 2010, starring Niles himself, David Hyde Pierce. It's also completely bonkers, and we're going to have a lot of fun talking about it.Instagram and Twitter: @HappyBrosPodYouTube: Happy Brothers PodcastSupport the show

David Hyde Pierce gives us a dinner party like no other. This movie, with a brilliantly misleading trailer, gives surprises, humor, and a lot of WTF moments. Dive into this weird as hell dinner party with us as we talk about masterful editing, subtle comedic performances, and how fun this flick is. There are a lot of hat-tips to older films. This is a film you will want to watch twice just to be sure you caught everything. David Hyde Pierce's physical comedy moves this over the edge. The Perfect Host can be found on Tubi.
Conversations with David Hyde Pierce on April 12, 2013. Moderated by Richard Ridge, Broadway World. Emmy and Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce can be seen on Broadway starring opposite Sigourney Weaver and Kristine Nielsen in Christopher Durang's new comedy, "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike." The show opened in March following sold out runs at Princeton's McCarter Theatre and at Lincoln Center. Pierce made his professional and Broadway debut in 1982 in Durang's "Beyond Therapy" and went on to create roles in Off-Broadway productions of Mark O'Donnell's "That's it Folks!," Richard Greenberg's "The Author's Voice" and Jules Feiffer's "Elliot Loves" before returning to Broadway in "The Heidi Chronicles." In 2005, Pierce originated the role of 'Sir Robin' in the Broadway production of "Monty Python's Spamalot," and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. In 2007, he won the Tony Award and earned another Drama Desk Award nomination for his role in the musical comedy "Curtains." Perhaps best known for his role on TV's iconic comedy, "Frasier," Pierce earned four Emmy Awards among many other accolades. His film credits include "Little Man Tate," "Sleepless in Seattle," "Nixon," "Down With Love," and the Sundance Film Festival Selection, "The Perfect Host." There is nothing like a good meal with a group of people with whom you enjoy spending time. Food and fellowship can be so enjoyable. Added to that, when you have family and close friends, the connection can be so sweet. There are times, though, that people will be at that gathering with whom you have struggles. Maybe they are people that have hurt you at that meal. What kind of host would you be with people that you enjoy and love? And what kind of host would you be to those who hurt and harm you? What kind of meal would you serve them? It is easy to think of putting together an excellent meal for those that love you and treat you well. But how about the person that has not treated you well? The gospel teaches us something radical. We are called to display and demonstrate the truth of the gospel to even those who are our enemies. In this message, taken from Mark 14:12-31, hear how the Lord Jesus Christ prepared to host a meal for His disciples on the very last night before His crucifixion. In this meal, Jesus redefined the Jewish holiday of Passover. Jesus established a new Passover. His blood which was "poured out for many," represents the blood of the Passover lamb. In this, Jesus initiated a new covenant with God's people. There is also a prediction of Judas's betrayal and the disciples' abandonment that stands in stark contrast to Jesus’s faithfulness to God's purpose and plan. MESSAGE OUTLINE1. Preparing to betray Christ (treachery) (Mark 14:10-11)2. Preparing to host a meal (Mark 14:12-16) Prediction of the betrayal (Mark 14:17-21)3. Passover redefined - Promise of redemption - the institution of the Lord's supper (Mark 14:22-26)4. Prediction of failure (Mark 14:27-31)· The promise of Salvation and Security· Hymn - Come Thou Fount of Many Blessings ____________________________________________________ABOUT JAMES AND LESSONS FOR LIFE Are you longing to find answers to the deeper issues of life?
