After a long hiatus, the V/H/S franchise of films is back with a new installment. Some say it is a reboot while others say it is a sequel, but either way, as an anthology film, with stories not necessarily related, it doesn't matter all that much. The new film had some of its talent taken away as they went off and were hired to direct the new Hellraiser film and the new Scream film, but others are back including Simon Barrett and Timo Tjahjanto. The new movie entitled V/H/S/94 has four new stories and some new talent too. First is the wrap around story entitled Holy Hell (written and directed by Jennifer Reeder) about a swat team that enters what appears to be a building owned by a suicide cult. Next up is Storm Drain (written and directed by Chloe Okuno). The next tale is by Simon Barrett entitled The Empty Wake. Following is Timo Tjahjanto's story entitled The Subject, and the last story is called Terror (written and directed by Ryan Prows). The film has been getting excellent reviews from critics and has a huge fan base that was excited to hear of the latest in the franchise. The movie appears on Shudder right now for all subscribers. Dark Discussions Podcast takes a look at this new movie and gives their thoughts on each part of the anthology.
This week, the boys discuss the latest installment in one of Aaron's favorite found footage/anthology series. Jimmy may be a newcomer to the franchise, but fortunately, whether you're looking for biomechanical body horror or vampiric domestic terrorism, this one's got something for everyone. We caught the world premiere of the latest installment into the V/H/S franchise, V/H/S/94, at this year's Fantastic Fest with most of the filmmakers, as well as producer Josh Goldblum, in attendance. The film features five new segments from Simon Barrett, Chloe Okuno, Ryan Prows, Jennifer Reeder, and Timo Tjahjanto, and takes viewers for a gory good ride that attempts to right the wrongs of the franchise's previous entry.

Scream Addicts Podcast: Horror movies | Movie reviews | Horror
This week on Scream Addicts, Jinx welcomes Ryan Prows to the show! The filmmaker behind last year’s Lowlife, Mr. Prows has chosen David Fincher’s police procedural/horror classic SE7EN for discussion this week.. With its grim setting and well drawn characters, SE7EN kicks off a conversation which focuses on the relationship between the film’s leads, the movie’s surprising parallels to Mr. Prows’ alternate movie pick No Country for Old Men, and whether or not it should be considered a horror film. Along the way, the two chat about their first viewings of the film, their initial reactions to its shocking ending, and…would Mr. Prows have shot John Doe, or let him live?! It’s a great chat with a wonderful guest, and it’s one we hope you enjoy. Be sure to subscribe to our show on iTunes, leave feedback, tell your friends about us, and give us a yell on Facebook and Twitter! We are: @ryanprows @Jinx1981 @ScreamAddicts
It's pretty rare that I get nervous before a podcast, but it's also pretty rare that I see a movie but an independent filmmaker that strikes me in the way that Lowlife did! On this weeks episode, I hopped on skype to chat with the amazingly talented RYAN PROWS about everything from making films in highschool to his opinions on film school now that he's made a movie. We also discuss our first features, collaborating with a team, adventures on the film festival circuit, why we don't watch TV shows very often, and when waiting to make something becomes too much and you have to just go out and do it yourself! You can watch LOWLIFE right now on Hulu or get the BluRay that's packed with bonus content. AND FOLLOW RYAN on SOCIAL MEDIA to keep up with everything he's working on - @ryanprows CHEERS! Josh

What do a sociopathic, organ-dealing taco stand owner, a struggling motel clerk and a swastika face tattooed convict have in common? They were all created by this week's guest, Ryan Prows. He talks his fantastic feature film debut Lowlife, the experience of making his first feature and answers a poorly worded fan-submitted question. In the intro, Randy prescribes a double dose of new Orson Welles releases, Clark pleads to "The Guilty", Russ finally accepts "The Invitation" and then everyone joins in on a full table discussion of "Overlord" and "Suspiria". Join your friends, Marco and Paul for another bonus episode. This time we’re talking about 2018’s sensational movie, Lowlife. Joining us is none other than it’s director and co-writer, Ryan Prows! This interview was a blast and possibly the funniest one to date. We side track a little here and there but we learn a lot about what it took to make this movie and the spirit behind it’s stories. Ryan has really nailed an amazing piece of film here and we can’t wait for what’s next! Stay tuned during the outro music for bonus clips with Ryan’s pitch for a Star Wars Prequel re-boot and a Superman re-boot along with some other tom-foolery. When a simple organ harvesting caper goes awry, a twist of fate unites three of society’s forgotten and ignored: EL MONSTRUO, a disgraced Mexican wrestler working as hired muscle for a local crime boss. CRYSTAL, a recovering addict desperate enough to arrange a black market kidney transplant to save her husband’s life. And RANDY, a loveable two-strike convict fresh out of prison, cursed with a full-face swastika tattoo and a best friend guilting him into some hair-brained kidnapping scheme. In LOWLIFE we follow the sordid lives of these small-time criminals collide, as they fight tooth and nail to save a pregnant woman from a certain, and surely gruesome, death. Director Ryan Prows joins for a lively conversation on his hard-charging, high-energy debut feature film. For news and updates go to: lowlifethemovie.com facebook.com/lowlifethemovie

WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO AN IMMEDIATE AND RIGHT NOW EPISODE OF CINEPUNX! On this amazing episode we talk to director Ryan Prows about his new film Lowlife as well as two classic New York films from Abel Ferrara, King of New York and Bad Lieutenant ! Ryan was in NYC for the WHAT THE FILM FEST where his movie screened (the awesome Adrianna Grober caught it there and will be reviewing it for this very site!) I managed to catch Lowlife at friend of the show, former guest Josh Goldbloom’s CINEPOCALYPSE FEST. After I saw it I basically could not shut up about it, and I was super excited to get to sit down and chat with Ryan. Or lay down. This film is Ryan’s feature length directorial debut, BUT SOME OF YOU WILL KNOW HIS NOW NOTORIOUS WORK ON THE CRIME SCENE VIDEO BELOW On the episode Ryan talks a little about his experience in the Hardcore Punk scene in Atlanta, making the above video, as well as the process of making Lowlife. Then we get into it about two of MY favorite films, King of New York and Bad Lieutenant. Turns out I am alone, in this room at least, with my love for King of New York. Regardless, Ryan was a stellar guest and I cannot implore you enough to go see his movie when it opens April 6th or to check it out on VOD. RATE REVIEW SUBSCRIBE Please tell your friends about us, word of mouth is the only way Cinepunx can grow. Check out our patreon, we would love your support. Thanks to you all and to our sponsors LVAC as usual I am sure there is more to say, but I will settle for Thank You!
