Miyamoto Musashi is considered to be the greatest swordsman ever in the history of Japan, in large part due to his almost surreal discipline. So here are 4 important insights for self discipline from Miyamoto Musashi - 01. Avoid doing things just because they feel good 02. Focus on one thing, and broaden your horizons in it 03. Stay focused 04. Live with integrity and preserve your honor I hope you enjoyed listening to this podcast and hope you find these insights form Miyamoto Musashi very helpful for your self discipline. A samurai at first, and then a Ronin, Miyamoto Musashi is considered to be the greatest swordsman ever in the history of Japan, in large part due to his almost surreal discipline. Indeed It is being said that he fought 60 duels, and never lost one. He fought for the first time when he was 13 against an experienced Samurai, and came out victorious. He took down the greatest swordsman at that time, one by one, until the throne was his, and his alone. However, Miyamoto was more than that. Not only was he a master of his craft, but he was also an artist, a cerebral philosopher and a buddhist. He sought meaning, wrote war and philosophy books, and his work became a blueprint for people who want to live a disciplined life. A week before he died in 1645, Miyamoto Musashi wrote 21 principles called “Dokkodo '' by which he expresses a stringent, honest, and ascetic or strongly self-disciplined view of life.

https://www.thrivetimeshow.com/ Use Code: Mel K In this inspiring episode of The Mel K Show, I am joined once again by my friend Clay Clark. Clay is a man who never stops encouraging people to take control of their lives, embrace discipline, and step into their God-given potential. This conversation is all about empowerment, self-reliance, and the practical steps that anyone can take to transform their financial future. Clay opens the discussion with a simple but profound truth: wealth is often hidden behind self-discipline. While that may not be what everyone wants to hear, it is exactly what we need to hear. Success is not handed out freely by the government or by a broken system. It is built through personal responsibility, vision, and the willingness to do the work others avoid. To illustrate this, Clay shares the story of a teacher named Margaret. She was deeply frustrated with the state of the education system and knew children could be taught in a better way. Despite having no business background, Margaret made the courageous choice to start her own tutoring business. She began at zero, walking her neighborhood with flyers and struggling to gain traction. But after attending one of Clay's conferences, she applied what she learned, stepped out in faith, and now has so many students that she is hiring and training five new tutors. Her story is a testament to the power of taking action, even when the odds seem stacked against you. Clay breaks down five specific points for listeners to apply in their own lives. He stresses that everyone watching or listening can see the problems in our society, but not everyone is willing to step up and be the solution. Those who do will discover that discipline, consistency, and creativity open doors to opportunities that once felt impossible. We discuss how people can reframe their perspective on work, wealth, and responsibility. Instead of waiting for outside forces to save us, we must take back the authority over our families, finances, and futures. This is not just about money. It is about freedom, independence, and the ability to live with integrity in a time when too many are pressured to conform or give up. Here is what you will learn in this episode: Why discipline is the key to unlocking wealth and opportunity How ordinary people can start businesses and change their futures The inspiring story of a teacher who built a thriving tutoring business from nothing Five practical steps to move from frustration to empowerment Why personal responsibility is the foundation of freedom This conversation will leave you motivated and equipped to stop waiting for change and start creating it. Clay Clark is a reminder that we each have more power than we realize, and when we combine that with faith, discipline, and action, the results can be extraordinary. It is time to stop depending on failing systems and to start depending on ourselves, our families, and our communities. You can be your own hero, and this episode will show you how.

Geraldine also highlights the importance of self-discipline, reducing stress, and remembering our inner divinity. ✨ If you've ever felt “stuck” or caught in repeating lessons, this episode will help you reframe crossroads as opportunities and step into a higher version of yourself.

In this podcast we will talk about How To Build Your Self Discipline from the philosophy of Sun Tzu. Sun Tzu was a Chinese general, philosopher, and writer who followed ideas rooted in philosophies like Taoism, Confucianism, and elements of Legalism. So with that in mind, here are 6 ways To Build Your Self Discipline from the philosophy of Sun Tzu- 01. Master Yourself First 02. Think Strategically, Not Emotionally 03. Discipline Is in Preparation 04. Use Deception with Purpose 05. Adapt Without Losing Purpose 06. Lead Yourself Like a General We hope you enjoyed listening to this podcast and hope this video, from the philosophy of Sun Tzu, helps you build your self discipline. Sun Tzu was a Chinese general, philosopher, and writer who lived more than 2,500 years ago. Though much of his life remains a mystery, he is said to have followed ideas rooted in philosophies like Taoism, Confucianism, and elements of Legalism. He's best known for a book called The Art of War, a classic text on military strategy and tactics. Even though it was written for military leaders, people still read it today for advice on leadership, business, sports, and personal growth. What made Sun Tzu different was how he thought about winning. He believed the smartest victory is a victory won without fighting. Success came from careful planning, calm thinking, and knowing both yourself and your opponent. He taught that strength isn't always about pushing harder—it's about stepping back, seeing clearly, and acting at the right moment.

Faith alone doesn't move mountains—faith married to diligence does. In his message, “Sloth Kills Callings,” Dr. Gabriel Allen Powell unpacks what it really means to battle laziness—not just in our work or routines, but also when it comes to our spiritual lives.Drawing from Proverbs 6, Dr. Powell challenges us to “consider the ant”—a symbol of diligence and preparation—juxtaposing its work ethic to the dangers of procrastination and passivity. But this isn't just a call to grind harder. Dr. Powell explores the importance of combining discipline and faith, reminding listeners that waiting on God is never meant to be passive, but an invitation to action, growth, and responsibility.Support the showText encounteratl to 94000 to stay up-to-date on all things Encounter.Worship with EncounterSundays at 9 AM ET | Wednesdays at 7:30 PM ETSupport EncounterText egive to 77977 Connect with EncounterFacebook | Instagram | TikTok | YouTube | WebsiteConnect with Dr. GabeInstagram | YouTube | Website

Adulting is hard, especially as a relatively new adult, I often find myself caught between juviniele tendencies and being a reponsible adult. I was talking to my therapist about this struggle recently and she suggested gentle parenting myself. Just like kids there are times we don't want to clean our room, pick up after ourselfves, or do our work but as grown ups there are some things that just must be done. When you find yourself trying to get out of things, let yourself off the hook because you just don't want to, or find yourself procrastinating try parenting yourself. In today's episode I go over some parenting strategies you can use on yourself to give yourself a little nudge, and tough love when necessary, to show up and get things done. I cannot wait for you to hear this today! Whitney Capps and the incredible ladies of Point of Grace joined me at a Fresh Grounded Faith event in Springfield, Missouri, and let me tell you, there was something extra special about this day. Maybe it was because Whitney brought such raw honesty while in the middle of cancer treatments. Or maybe it was the sweet friendship and humility that Point of Grace radiated from the stage. Or maybe it was because someone in the audience tried to set KC up with her cousin, Brenda.
