Today we're diving into the incredible journey of Johnny Coyne, an actor who traveled from the rugged mountains of Cyprus to the legendary sets of the Star Wars universe. Known for his "great face" and iconic turns as authoritarian villains in The Blacklist, Preacher, and Alcatraz, Johnny pulls back the curtain on the "panic" and imposter syndrome that still fuel his craft today. We explore how a RADA-trained talent who once packed shelves at Toys "R" Us transitioned from "unconsciously unskilled" to landing direct offers from Jon Favreau and sharing the screen with legends like Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Whether he's a mysterious warden or finding the vulnerable lost boy inside a master villain, Johnny's story is a raw, hilarious, and inspiring masterclass in resilience and the power of simply keeping the motor going. These are the unforgettable stories that landed Jonny Coyne right here. Hey kids. This cold really through me off track. We will be back with a new episode next week. Until then.. Hey kids! Thanks for stopping by. We have a super fun show ahead of us this week. We start off with a call from A.B Silver about his Johnny Coin ICO and an amazing advertising opportunity he has for us. Engineer Emily pops in and a lot of fun is had.    From there we head into At The Movies where we take a look at a couple of different movies. The 1st one is called Hotel Artemis and the 2nd is the horror flick everyone is talking about, Hereditary. I saw it and I'll tell you all about it or at least what I thought of it.   Then it's on to the main event of the show where we take a look at something we all have at least a passing interest in, Dinosaurs. With Jurassic World on the way I thought this was the perfect time for some Dinosaur Talk! Dinos are great and this week I spend about half of an hour breaking down the Top Five Dinosaurs Of All The Times and Space.   We finish off the show with some toy talk and some flea market talk. Oh ya, there is a really long story about littering.

In this part two of the Tim Hortons saga, Jesse Harley and Rhys Waters dig into how predatory private equity and corporate ownership have hollowed out one of Canada's most beloved brands. Building on examples like Friendly's and Toys “R” Us, they explain how firms use debt-loading, bankruptcy, and aggressive cost-cutting to squeeze short-term profit from companies, and how that model hit Tim Hortons after the Burger King/Restaurant Brands International takeover. They unpack franchisee lawsuits and alleged intimidation, the brand's fall from a cozy community hub to a transactional, depressing pit stop, and how centralized supply chains, shrinkflation, staff cuts, and PR spin eroded both quality and reputation. The conversation widens to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, corporate lobbying, and how bad policy and labor exploitation help fuel public anger about immigration and housing pressure, before circling back to a simple call to action: skip the hollowed-out chains when you can, and support local independent coffee shops instead. For premium content, socials, merch, to leave a voicemail or message us go to canadaisboring.com Hosted on Acast. When will the real estate market come back?Spring 2026? Fall 2026? Before Spinbrush became the top selling toothbrush in the U.S—and before Procter & Gamble paid $475M for it—John Osher was a teenager selling earrings for $4.99. In this episode, John walks through the strange, scrappy, but disciplined path that led to one of the fastest consumer-product breakouts ever: from a six-year stint in a commune (where he learned plumbing and carpentry), to selling baby products and battery-powered spinning lollipops. Finally, the big bet: a $5 electric toothbrush that was cheap enough to compete with manual brushes, and good enough to become a best-seller.You'll hear the make-or-break moment that many founders can't survive: the decision to scrap 400,000 defective brushes before they hit the shelves. And then, the stealth move that turned a “licensing pitch” into a buyout —with one perfectly timed bluff. What you'll learn:Why pricing is about what the market will pay, not what your product costsThe hidden power of packaging (How “Try Me” changed everything)How to recover from “entrepreneurial terror” Why scrapping inventory can be the most important decision you'll ever makeThe acquisition formula: you get a lot more money when they want to buy… than when you want to sellTimestamps: 07:01 - A pricing lesson that John used forever: The 19-cent earrings that sold for $4.99.12:04 - Six years in a commune and the unexpected skill stack: plumbing and construction.22:09 - “Entrepreneurial terror” and a lifeline from Toys R Us 29:11 - Spinning lollipops lead to a $166 million Hasbro exit.35:54 - What's the real competition: $80 electric toothbrushes, or cheap manual ones?38:42 - The design breakthrough: fixed + oscillating bristles.55:43 - P&G admits: “We've bought three companies like yours… and ruined them all.”58:07 - The earnout problem: What happens when Spinbrush performs much better than expected? Bad Dads Film Review

This week Sidey watched Roof Man on a flight—and it turned out to be a surprisingly breezy true-crime oddity: part heist caper, part rom-com, all built around one ridiculous (but real) idea. What it's aboutChanning Tatum plays Jeffrey Manchester, a struggling Army vet and dad who turns his “situational awareness” into a criminal superpower. His method is brutally simple: hammer through roofs, drop in overnight, hit fast-food joints for cash, vanish. After dozens of robberies he finally gets caught—then pulls off a genuinely wild prison escape and goes to ground in the last place you'd expect… a Toys “R” Us.What we talked aboutThe appeal (and absurdity) of the “roof entry” MO—and why it's terrifying in real lifeThe prison escape: routine, observation, and one perfectly timed delivery runLiving in plain sight: how the Toys “R” Us hideout becomes a weird little home baseThe moral wobble: the film frames him as charming, but these are still violent, traumatic crimesThe Kirsten Dunst factor: why she works here, and how the romance complicates everythingWhy it's a great “plane movie”: short, watchable, and doesn't outstay its welcomeVerdictA light, easy watch with solid performances and a bizarre true-story hook—even if the tone sometimes smooths over how grim the real-world version would feel. Season 8 takes a gentle but surprisingly powerful turn as Dangerous Dave dives into one of the most quietly memorable British children's shows of the 1980s — The Shoe People. We rewind to 1987 in What Happened Way Back When, uncovering obscure movies, cult songs, and forgotten TV shows from a year dominated by loud pop culture on the surface, but thoughtful, emotionally rich storytelling just beneath it. Retro Headlines from the UK and the US help set the scene for a decade in full swing. In a deeply affectionate Dangerous Deep Dive, Dave explores the full history of The Shoe People — from its origins as illustrated children's books to its calm, distinctive animated style. The episode breaks down the world of Shoe Town, its characters, and a detailed look at the 20 most memorable episodes, revealing how the show tackled loneliness, inclusion, empathy, and community in ways few children's programmes dared to.Elsewhere in the episode:

Toys were never just toys.In this episode of Geekstorians, Dave traces the rise of the Plastic Empire — the moment when action figures, model kits, bricks, and collectibles stopped being side products and started becoming entire universes. From the Star Wars Early Bird box that accidentally rewrote the rules of merchandising, to the 1980s cartoon-toy industrial complex, moral panics, and the birth of gender-segmented aisles, this is the story of how plastic shaped imagination, identity, and fandom itself.Along the way, we explore LEGO's uneasy relationship with licensed worlds, Gunpla's transformation of fandom into craftsmanship, Warhammer's hobbyist ecosystems, the rise of collector culture and shrine shelves, the collapse of toy superstores like Toys “R” Us, and how blind bags, loot-box logic, and digital skins quietly gamified collecting. Finally, we look at the strangest evolution yet — a future where fans no longer wait for companies to make their toys at all, but design and print their own.Because the Plastic Empire didn't disappear. It decentralised. If you enjoyed this episode, make sure you're subscribed or following Geekstorians wherever you listen, so you don't miss future deep dives into the hidden history of geek culture. You can find every episode at https://www.geektown.co.uk, along with Geektown Radio, our weekly show covering the latest TV, film, and gaming news.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. The Metaphysical Hour with Julia Cannon and Tracie Mahan and Question Master Tiffanny Remembering Your True Being and The Metaphysics of Joy In this episode of The Metaphysical Hour, hosts Julia Cannon and Tracey Mahan explore the natural evolution of the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT), interpret classic commercial jingles through a metaphysical lens, and provide deep insights into energy protection and the sensory process of manifestation. The discussion emphasizes moving beyond ego to embrace a state of joy, play, and co-creation with the universal simulation. Detailed Summary The Evolution and Integrity of QHHT Tracey Mahan, currently teaching a Level 3 QHHT class, shares insights into the profound evolution experienced by both students and practitioners. A central theme of the discussion is the necessity of following the established QHHT script without modification. The hosts argue that the modality is designed to evolve naturally through the client's experience; attempting to "add" to it from a 3D perspective is often an act of ego that can interfere with the higher-dimensional process. They emphasize that the foundation is complete and perfect as it is, allowing for a 5D evolution that transcends physical consciousness. Metaphysical Interpretations of Nostalgic Jingles In a creative segment, the hosts interpret classic advertising jingles as spiritual metaphors. "Snap, Crackle, Pop" is viewed as a series of awakenings and the clearing of energetic blockages, while the Toys "R" Us theme serves as a reminder to embrace the inner child and the importance of play. Other interpretations include "Where's the Beef?" as a call for authenticity and "You Deserve a Break Today" as a literal message for self-care and rest. These interpretations suggest that the "simulation" we live in is constantly communicating through familiar symbols to trigger memory and joy. Energy Protection and Spiritual Tools Addressing listener questions, the hosts provide practical advice for those using dowsing rods or pendulums. If a practitioner feels drained, it often indicates "giving energy away" or having "leaks" in the auric field. To prevent this, they recommend calling in a "gatekeeper"—such as a dragon, angel, or star being—to maintain a high-frequency environment (5D and above). Furthermore, Julia discusses her mother Dolores Cannon's Convoluted Universe series, explaining that each book represents an evolution of understanding and should be read to see how one's own beliefs can expand when exposed to "mind-bending" information. The Mechanics of Manifestation The episode concludes with a deep dive into the art of "utilizing" or "molding" energy for manifestation. The hosts clarify that this is not about control or force, but about "remembering" how to create. Effective manifestation requires engaging all senses—imagining the smell, the physical touch (like a doorknob), and the specific emotions of a completed goal. They suggest using the phrase "this or something better" to avoid the vibration of "wanting" or "needing," which only attracts more of the same lack. By embodying the version of oneself that already possesses the desired outcome, the physical reality is forced to comply with that vibrational match. This session serves as a powerful reminder that spiritual growth is not a process of "adding" complex layers, but of stripping away ego to remember our innate power as creators. By maintaining the integrity of foundational tools like QHHT and approaching life with the curiosity of a child, we can effectively mold our reality and "shine" as beacons in our respective corners of the world. Search for a QHHT practitioner by visiting qhhtofficial.com. Apply the discount code "themagicisreal" (all one word) when registering for the QHHT Level 1 course. Explore the "SoulSpeak" book and online course to better understand the metaphorical language of the body. Practice sensory manifestation by visualizing a goal and focusing on the physical sensations and emotions of its completion.

Warren Kornblum, a marketing leader and author of Notes from The Brand Stand discusses the importance of “share of heart" in building brands by engendering and building trust.  The former CMO of Toys R Us says that our need for trust, human connection and long-term growth outweighs the need for any short-term focus on efficiency and scale. In this fast-changing world of algorithms and data, he says, we must focus on human-centric leadership and emotional connections in building lasting brand loyalty.#marketing #business #leadership

From there, the conversation turns to how private equity is quietly reshaping essential services — from volunteer fire departments and hospitals to fertility clinics and Toys "R" Us — and why consolidation often leads to higher costs and worse outcomes. After being caught and sentenced to 45 years, he escaped prison by hiding under a truck.   For six months, he lived inside the walls of a Toys "R" Us in Charlotte, North Carolina, surviving on baby food and entertaining himself with remote-controlled cars. With the holiday shopping season upon us, how will tariffs, inflation, and economic concerns impact Americans' gift shopping? In the new movie Roofman, Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst ooze with their signature charm and chemistry. Tatum plays an exceptionally savvy military veteran who robs fast food joints by entering through the rooftops. Eventually he gets caught and sent to prison, but he's able to escape and hides out in a Toys “R” Us for several months undetected. Obviously, he can only survive on M&Ms and keep up the ruse for so long before the roof comes crashing down on him.
