Welcome to my Hypnosis and Meditation channel. This particular recording is a very specific one – as well as a very personal one for me – as it aims to support those who are working through The Sinclair Method. This program (also known as TSM) is a scientifically proven approach that helps people regain control over alcohol by gradually rewiring the brain's relationship with drinking.Having experienced firsthand the transformative impact of TSM, I know that success isn't just about taking the medication—it's also about breaking long-held habits, shifting behaviors, and embracing new, healthier patterns. That's why I created this hypnosis session—to guide and support you in this deeper, subconscious process of change, renewal, and self-empowerment.Hypnotherapy is an incredible tool that enables us to speak to the subconscious part of the mind – the part that is in control of our emotions and habits, therefore enabling a much higher success rate than just desperately relying on willpower in the everyday conscious part of our brains. Please like and share my recordings - and of course, subscribe to my channel, as I'll be putting out more Hypnosis & Meditation videos as often as I can :).About Me: I'm a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Coach based in Seville in Spain but I see clients online from all around the world, specialising in Alcohol Moderation and Abstinence. Please feel free to contact me for any enquiries via Instagram www.instagram.com/steveroetherapy.#hypnotherapy #forsleep #sleephypnosis #MaleVoiceHypnosis #deepsleep #sleepmeditationMusic – Healing Tides - Amber Glow c/o Epidemic Sound⚠DISCLAIMER⚠ All media content created by Steve Roe Therapy is intended for education and entertainment purposes only. Dr. Gina Cleo, one of Australia's leading habit change experts, shares her expertise on creating healthier, alcohol-free habit loops. In this recording of Dr Cleo's talk to my (Bella) November Alcohol Freedom Challenge, Dr Cleo discusses the science behind dopamine, a neurotransmitter that drives our reward and pleasure systems. On this note, alcohol provides a significant dopamine surge—sometimes up to 360% above baseline—creating a powerful association with relief and pleasure. However, over time, relying on alcohol for dopamine can make other activities feel less rewarding, making it harder to break the habit. Dr. Cleo emphasises the importance of hacking our reward system by changing our perception of alcohol and introducing new sources of joy. Reframing alcohol as a toxin that disrupts sleep and drains energy can reduce its appeal. At the same time, engaging in healthier activities—cooking a new recipe, trying a hobby, or exercising—can naturally boost dopamine. Novel experiences, even small ones, provide excitement and unpredictability, rewiring your brain to find joy beyond alcohol. As Dr. Cleo explains, building new habits takes time, with the brain's dopamine levels typically rebalancing within 30 to 90 days. Celebrate each step forward, as acknowledging your progress releases dopamine and reinforces positive behaviours. Listen to Dr. Cleo's practical strategies to rewire your brain, broaden your sources of joy, and thrive without alcohol.

Join Joe McDonald as he expands on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, diving into the realities of Step 12 AA. In this session, Joe addresses the common excuses that often surface when people place their recovery on a service plane rather than truly relying on God.“The minute we put our work on a service plane, the alcoholic commences to rely upon our assistance rather than upon God. He clamors for this or that, claiming he cannot master alcohol until his material needs are cared for. Is that true for you? You were not able to get cleaned up until all your life was perfect, then it's complete nonsense, isn't it? We got to call that. As peers, we get to call that. Well, look, I'll never be able to… If she doesn't come back and I don't get my job back, I can't stop. Bullshit. You drank through lots of jobs. You drank through lots of wives and a couple of boyfriends if I'm not mistaken. You don't know we know that about each other. Job or no job, wife or no wife.”Joe highlights the importance of accountability in recovery, urging participants to focus on the true source of strength rather than external circumstances. This session emphasizes the need to confront the excuses that block spiritual progress.Join us as Joe McDonald reads and expands on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, offering deeper understanding and practical advice for those on their recovery journey. She's seen many women in online sobriety groups struggle with the question, "What do I do about sex now that I'm not drinking?" It's been two years since Lisa Greenberg - fitness consultant and wife of former NRL boss and now CEO of the Australian Cricketers' Association Todd Greenberg - went public with her story of alcohol addiction, making headlines across the country and sparking a discussion around a battle that often takes place behind closed doors. On this episode of Something To Talk About, and as Dry July comes to a close, Greenberg - who is now five years sober - sits down for an emotional conversation about the toll that her addiction took on her family, and how she found new purpose and self-worth once she tackled her dependence on alcohol. She also shares the lessons she learnt in hopes that Australians can take them away to apply to their own lives or the ones of those they love, whatever they may be struggling with. "It's about small steps," Greenberg says. In the last episode, we spoke about close relationships and what they mean in terms of our Evolutionary Path. We need to cease imposing our values or expectations on others. Instead, concentrate on altering who we are and how we react to situations. It is said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Today we're joined by one of our greatest friends of the show in Sky Sports & Amazon Prime Broadcaster Simon Thomas for somewhat of a 'Dry January' special. Simon has recently passed his 1 year anniversary of being sober and in this deeply personal interview he takes us through the horrendous struggles and relationship he's had with alcohol over the years. After suddenly losing his wife, his life was flipped upside down and like so many in desperate situations, he took refuge in the bottle and this sparked a sudden downfall which almost led to his death on multiple occasions. He opens up about his inspiring journey over the last couple of years and gives advice to those who maybe struggling from similar issues. We also discuss the premature arrival of his daughter and the terrifying events surrounding that. However it's not all seriousness as Archie manages to inject a ridiculous amount of stupidity and laughter into the podcast as always. -------- BUY YOUR TICKETS FOR OUR LIVE PODCAST WITH SIMON SHAW ON 9th FEB https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/live-rig-biz-pod-networking-with-england-legend-simon-shaw-tickets-516148412797 DOWNLOAD ATHLO NOW! https://athlo.app/ The way you train and use your gym membership is about to change thanks to Athlo. Our often stereotypical view of someone with a drink problem is the dishevelled homeless man on the park bench with a can of beer in his hand at 10am – we rarely conjure up the image of the nicely presented, manicured and coiffed HR professional who is actually a high functioning alcoholic underneath it all. In this episode I talk to Janet Gourand, founder and leader at Tribe Sober, an international community of people who are enjoying the benefits of a sober life. Janet was indeed once that HR professional – suited and booted and succeeding in the corporate world, yet hiding a drink problem that would cause issues such as almost drowning, being rescued naked by the fire service and completely forgetting episodes of her life. She shares how, as a high functioning alcoholic, a glass of wine every night was the norm, and in fact became much more, and how eventually she had to make a choice. We also talk about how to have a Really Useful Conversation with someone if you are concerned about their drinking habits and how to help them get the help they need; also how to get the help YOU might need if that person is you. For more details about Janet and the work she does, and to get help yourself, please visit

Join Jonathan and Rachel as they discuss the so called formula to Step 6 and 7, based on the 2 preambles. Step 6: We're entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character; and Step 7: Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. What does that all really mean and how can those 2 steps prevent you from falling back into step 4, and having to do it all over again. Yes, this is a crucial point in the success of the 12 step latter. Find out the solutions to the widespread book "Drop the Rock." Admitting wrongs to God and to ourselves is one thing. To actually tell someone else the exact nature of our wrongs can be a frightening task indeed. Andrea, Rachel, and Jonathan discuss how Step 5 can actually be the path to Freedom. It’s like getting rid of your old cloths and stepping into the new. While waiting on Jonathan, Rachel and Andrea dive into Step 4: “Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.” They use some of their own examples on how they were able to work the rigorous columns of step four. The principal of that step is courage. In step 4 we learn to break down the barriers caused by illusions and fear, leading to a deeper level of consciousness to abide by these principals. We look at past/present circumsatnces, and what situations caused us anxiety, bitterness, frustration and depression. Or if these disturbances are caused by the behaviors of others, why do we lack the ability to accept conditions we cannot change? It is one of the most sought out and powerful steps to self discovery and freedom from unnecessary suffering. Join us as we dissect this step in Part 1 of this 12 step series. Step Three. “Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.” Jonathan and Rachael elaborate on Step 1 & 2 and how it plays a crucial role into Step 3. No matter what belief system you may have, Step 3 is like unlocking the door to freedom. All you need is a key, and the decision to swing the door open. There is only one key, and it is called "willingness." One of the main points they make: The more you become willing to depend upon a Higher Power or the Universe, the more independent you actually become. You must trust in the natural rhythm of life/nature. They address not just people in recovery, but everybody across the board. Jonathan & Rachel bring up a very serious topic and discuss it in 3 parts. The first one being on what you can implement to avoid a Relapse.Notes from Podcast:Take care of yourself. It’s progression not perfection.Don’t isolate yourself. Alcohol breaths isolation – feeling of loneliness, anxiety and boredom can sneak up. Go to meetings, meetings, meetings (online/offline)Call another alcoholic to have your own little mini session.Surround yourself with winners/ big influencers. As the old saying goes “Show me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are.” Or, what your future will look like.Do service/speak at meetings/step outside yourself. It really works!Don’t let a relationship rule you and make them your higher power. It’s a sure way to fall off the wagon and loose yourself in it. Don’t depend on anything outside yourself to fill up that void. Do things that make YOU happy.Work the 12 steps in all of your affairs on a daily basis.Find your higher power, YOUR CHI, by practicing prayer and mediation. What is an addiction and what causes it? Is there a link between addiction and ADHD? I dive into the topic with Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Alberto Pertusa as he shares valuable insights from his work. Visit https://www.bodyshotperformance.com/podcasts-blog for the complete show notes of every podcast episode. Topics Discussed in this Episode: How Dr. Petusa became a consultant psychiatrist The link between ADHD and addiction Physical dependence and psychological reliance The stages of dependency Alcohol addiction versus alcohol dependency The kindling effect The types of addiction The factors that trigger, perpetuate or predispose someone to addiction The link between obsessive-compulsive disorder and addiction What causes dopamine spikes What happens when you drink alcohol The relationship between anxiety and addiction Strategies that you can employ to fight problematic alcohol use Key Takeaways: Addictions are very much related to a dysregulation in the reward system of the brain, and one of the main substances is the dopamine, which is the main reward neurotransmitter, and ADHD is also linked to a dysregulation in the neurotransmitter system in the brain as well as the dopamine system. Once a substance becomes a person’s coping mechanism, they are at much higher risk of addiction. You can be addicted but not dependent. The majority of addictions don’t have an element of physiological or medical dependence at all. You know that you are dependent when you realize that about 12 to 20 hours without the substance, generally alcohol, you start feeling shaky, clammy, and anxious. Any mental condition or any type of mental suffering can lead to addiction, particularly PTSD or a history of trauma. Social phobia is an anxiety condition that is extremely linked to alcohol use. Action Steps: Get psychoeducation. If you know about the physical and mental consequences of a substance, then you are much more insightful as to realising what the consequences are. If you think you have a problem with addiction, seek help. Talk to someone who can help you take accountability for your problem behaviour. Dr. Alberto Pertusa said: “Everyone is hard-wired in a different way, so if something gives you a kick, and in medical terms sometimes we use the term a dopamine spike… you are very likely to become addicted to that.” “Addiction is a spectrum, so you can have many addicted behaviours. And we don’t want to pathologise normal behaviour, but we all have a lot of behaviours that we realise we do excessively, and changing that would probably be a good idea.” Thanks for listening! The word Addiction can be a sensitive topic for many. However, many still refuse to believe that one can become addicted to Alcohol. It is known that 51.5% of adults 18 and older are regular drinkers. In our culture social drinking is acceptable and the norm. So when does drinking become a problem? Alcohol related mortality is a leading preventable cause of death in the US. The deaths are most common among middle aged adults aging 35-64 years old. 76% are men and 24% are women. About 88 thousand people die every year in the US from alcohol related causes. Millions of adults suffer from alcohol use. The age of first use can occur around the age of 12 in most cases. Most concerning is that many will later develop Alcoholism which is an addiction to the consumption of alcoholic liquor. Such can lead to mental illness, compulsive behaviors and other problems in ones life resulting from Alcohol Dependency. Alcoholism is considered one of the most serious form of problem drinking. Suffers will often become defensive or be in denial. Drinking can become the most important thing in their life.
