Welcome to another episode of the Monday Breakfast show, coming to you live from the studios of 3CR in so-called Fitzroy. Following the Federal Government's attempt to rush through the Migration Amendment Bill last week, Rob conducted two interviews to understand as much as possible about what it means for refugees across so-called Australia. Among other things, the bill would give a minister ‘God-like' powers to force people to comply with their deportation orders or face a minimum of 12 months in jail. The first interview is with Dr Graham Thom, Refugee Advisor for Amnesty International. We spoke about the bill's timing, and what it means for Australia's already-tarnished international reputation surrounding refugee rights. We then hear Rob's conversation with Laura John, Senior Lawyer for the Human Rights Law Centre in which the pair discussed the spate of news surrounding refugee rights in so-called Australia in recent months and how the Labor Party's position on refugees has changed since it came to power. After that we hear James McKenzie of In Ya Face speak with Queer policy expert Alastair Lawrie about the conversion practices' bill introduced in Parliament by the NSW Government in mid-March. The segment aired is an excerpt of a longer conversation, which you can listen to here. You can catch In Ya Face live from 4 till 5pm on Friday nights or listen to it anytime on the 3CR website. Following that interview Rob briefly speaks about their reflections and thoughts on Trans Day of Visibility as a proud Non-binary person.  Finally, we hear a segment from the Yeah Nah Pasaran show in which Andy and Cam speak with Dr Claudia Leeb about their book Contesting The Far-Right: A Psychoanalytic & Feminist Critical Theory Approach. In this episode, The Victorian Pride Centre on Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, in Melbourne's south, was opened on 11 July 2021. Its location, its design and its well-thought out objectives combine to make it one of the most imaginative and sympathetic public places in Australia. Dr Judith Buckrich's book, The Making Of The Victorian Pride Centre, details not only the building of this now-iconic centre and its gorgeous architecture, but also provides an overview of the history of LGBTIQ+ people in Australia, particularly in Melbourne, in a beautifully photographed and edited volume. To go into the history of the Pride Centre, we were joined by Jude Munro, inaugural chair of the Victorian Pride Centre, and, Nicholas Henderson, sound curator at the National Film and Sound Archive and curator at the Australian Queer Archive. To interview our guests, we enlisted the help of James McKenzie, longtime broadcaster on 3CR Community Radio with the show In Ya Face.

In 1993 to '95, the People Living with AIDS Radio Working Group produced a satirical drama series at 3CR, called Absolutely Positively Everything. The cast were all volunteers at the Positive Living Centre when it was in Acland Street, St Kilda, here in Melbourne.  To celebrate the twenty-five year anniversary of its completion, 3CR broadcast a condensed version of the series in one episode on In Ya Face and re-packaged it in this podcast.  The series was produced when HIV/AIDS treatments were much less advanced than they are today and many of the drama's cast are no longer with us.  We celebrate their lives and their theatrical legacies with this fabulous drama.  Pictured are two of the series' late great stars: Gerry Murtagh, who played Todd, and Brian Roberts, who played Baby Jane.  Special thanks to Peter Davis, the original producer of the series, who has also produced the condensed version for us all to enjoy.   Written & Directed by Peter Davis & Duncan Graham in collaboration with the PLWA Radio Working Group. Directed by Chuck McKinney.  Sound production by Rex Watts & Paul Huntingford.  Dedicated to the memories of cast members Adrian Collingwood, Tom Pisceki, Chuck McKinney, Gerry Murtagh and Brian Roberts.  The original series was recorded and broadcast on 3CR in 1993 and 1994 and ran for two hours and fifteen minutes. Additional production was done in 1995 when the popular series was re-broadcast by 3CR.  Includes adult themes and coarse language.

Bitte! Sehr gern! Es gibt dafür einiges her! Dann sollten wir Cohen ernstnehmen, wenn er schreibt: “Love is not a victory march, it’s a cold and it’s a broken hallelujah” Der Beitrag #6 Tobias: Kein Halleluja! erschien zuerst auf IN YA FACE. https://images.podigee.com/0x,sKtIM98UAoI4mcKgwpa0VUIgxWFIuVcSlZM6zezm2lyg=/https://cdn.podigee.com/uploads/u3685/69d51a90-7813-4a6d-91d0-e487d25cb980.jpg #6 Tobias: Kein Halleluja! https://inyaface.podigee.io/15-6-tobias-kein-halleluja 15 full no Tobias S. & Fabian M.
