Ladysmith is right at the centre of what we call "The Battlefields" region. So much of our history played out here - the Voortrekkers and their conflicts with the Zulu, the British and their battles with the Zulu, and then this area was pivotal in both conflicts between the British Empire and the Boer Republics. The N11 branches off the N3 (Johannesburg to Durban) at Ladysmith and then traverses the Drakensberg escarpment through Newcastle, Ermelo, Middelburg and then takes you right up to Groblersbrug on the border with Botswana.

Todd is joined with Jason Lupow, an old friend from medical school who is raising 2 sons on the spectrum while working as an emergency department physician. He meaningfully describes how he does not sweat the small stuff, tolerates feeling judged, and has worked hard to get his sons the support they need in s2. E1. N11. of the Otherness Podcast titled Through the Autism BS: Persistence, Parenting, and Doctoring.Todd is joined by Dr. Jason Lupow, an autism father, emergency department physician, and the father of 2 boys on the spectrum who describes how he sorts through what is most important and helpful in supporting him and his family. When you meet in your 20's in med school, you are young, broke, and passionate. This is the time when Jason and Todd met and they had no idea then how autism would define their lives so immensely. They touch on how siblings will ultimately take a caretaking role for their brother of sister with autism, how cool displays of memory are parlor tricks that may not have functional use over time, how arguments with insensitive people in the community are familiar, and how when someone says “your kid looks normal”, it is actually a hurtful insult. Jason has found sports to be an important part of his sons' development as one has an analytical mind when for football and one participates in special needs sports leagues. Jason also shares how ABA along with use of risperidone, a psychiatric medication that can be helpful for irritability and aggression, helped one of his sons emerge from difficult times. They tolerate some side effects as it has made his home a more peaceful and engaging place. Jason describes with passion how he feels connected to the people with autism who come to his ER with behavior issues and that they simply need compassionate care instead of elaborate tests and medications to sedate them. He also informs families of what resources there are in his community that have helped him and his family gather support which is an essential ingredient for growth in autism.*******The Otherness Podcast is exploring and engaging autism through experienced stories with Dr. Todd Peter Levine and is available on most places and sites where you like to listen to podcasts.*******Opening Theme Song Music Credits“Otherness Podcast Intro Theme Song and Music” by Nicholas BurlingCopyright 2021 Late Leopard Publishing/Nick Burling (ASCAP)Administered by Late Leopard Publishing (ASCAP)*******Closing Theme Song Music Credits“Otherness Podcast Outro Theme Song and Music” by Nicholas BurlingCopyright 2021 Late Leopard Publishing (ASCAP)Administered by late Leopard Publishing (ASCAP)*******Through the Autism BS: Persistence, Parenting, and Doctoring.

On this episode of OFINTOTO, we took a critical look into fraudulent investments and the postion of the law. According to the yearly report of the Nigeria electronic fraud forum, which was unveiled in 2017, the Nigerian investing public lost N11.9 billion to the Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox Ponzis. It was gathered that of the N300 billion lost by millions of nigerians to Ponzi schemes in the past few years, over 2,000 speculators lost N900 million to another sceme known as Yuan Dong Ponzi. Also, galaxy transport Ponzi schemes defrauded victims of N7 billion while N2 billion was lost to Famzhi Interbiz Limited. Nigerians who invested in Cowlane and Dureil also lost N100 million to each of the outfits. These and many more interesting stats with people's personal experiences, and solutions by experts are what this episode promises.

TRANSCRIPT OF AUDIO From the Cumberland Gap to the Atlantic Ocean, this is Virginia Water Radio for the week of October 25, 2021. This revised episode from November 2017 is part of a series this fall of episodes on water connections to the human body and human biology. We start with a public health mystery sound. Have a listen for about 35 seconds, and see if you can guess what seasonal, precautionary procedure is taking place. And here's a hint: thinking feverishlycould influence your answer. SOUNDS and VOICES - ~36 sec “Any problems with any vaccines before?”“No.”“Feeling OK today? No fever or anything like that?”“No.”“And no allergies to foods or medications that you're aware of?”“No.” …“So, you know, a little bit of arm soreness; that's probably the most of it. Redness, irritation. Might be kind of tired for a day or so, or even a low-grade fever or a headache is possible and normal. If that were to happen, whatever you take for a headache is fine. Any questions about anything?”“No.”“All right.” …“All right, leave that bandage on for about 10 minutes or so, and take it off anytime you remember after that. And here's your copy for your records. Thanks.”“Thank you.”“Have a good day.”If you guessed, a flu shot, you're right! You heard an influenza vaccination being given in October 2017 at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Flu season arrives every year with colder weather, bringing the potential to cause fever, body aches, and other symptoms, some quite serious or even fatal. The flu affects millions of people in the United States each year, and health agencies like U.S. Centers for the Disease Control and Prevention and the Virginia Department of Health encourage vaccination for everyone older than six months, with some exceptions. But what does the flu have to do with water? Consider these three connections. First, drinking plenty of fluids is a commonly prescribed treatment for flu sufferers in order to help prevent dehydration resulting from increased body temperature and other responses to the viral infection. Infants, children, and the elderly are particularly at risk for dehydration. Second, the flu virus is transmitted between humans by respiratory droplets, and researchers have found that transmission is affected by air temperature and humidity. Specifically, transmission occurs more easily in cold, dry air, such as is typically found during fall and winter in temperate areas like Virginia. Third, waterfowl and shorebirds are among the various kinds of birds that harbor avian flu viruses, and water contaminated with aquatic birds' waste can potentially harbor avian flu for some time. Understanding the factors related to the occurrence and transmission of avian viruses—including the role of contaminated water—is important in monitoring avian flu and its potential to spread to other birds, mammals, or humans. Flu season is upon us, and the CDC recommends getting a flu vaccine by the end of October. So if you hear this… VOICE - ~3 sec – “Are you here for a flu shot?” …now you'll have not only a health connection for the flu, but some hydrological ones, too. Thanks to staff of Kroger Pharmacy and Hokie Wellness for lending their voices to this episode. We close with some music for, or rather, against the flu. Here's about 30 seconds of “Shots,” written by Wilson Stern and performed in a 2014, flu-shot-promoting video by the University of Florida's Student Health Care Center. MUSIC - ~28 sec Lyrics:“Last year less than half the population got their flu shot. Why you wanna be stuck at home with a fever when you could be making this party hot?”“I heard that shot made you ill.”“Naw, son, that news ain't for real. It tells your body what the virus looks like, so it knows how to deal”“Why you tellin' me this? I got my flu shot last year.”“This virus mutates constantly, we got new strains here.”“Shots, shots, shots, shots….” SHIP'S BELL Virginia Water Radio is produced by the Virginia Water Resources Research Center, part of Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources and Environment. EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT TYPES AND NAMES OF INFLUENZA VIRUSESThe following information is quoted from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Protection (CDC), “Types of Influenza Viruses,” November 18, 2019, online at https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/viruses/types.htm.“There are four types of influenza viruses: A, B, C and D. Human influenza A and B viruses cause seasonal epidemics of disease (known as the flu season) almost every winter in the United States. Influenza A viruses are the only influenza viruses known to cause flu pandemics, i.e., global epidemics of flu disease. A pandemic can occur when a new and very different influenza A virus emerges that both infects people and has the ability to spread efficiently between people. Influenza type C infections generally cause mild illness and are not thought to cause human flu epidemics. Influenza D viruses primarily affect cattle and are not known to infect or cause illness in people. ”Influenza A viruses are divided into subtypes based on two proteins on the surface of the virus: the hemagglutinin (H) and the neuraminidase (N). There are 18 different hemagglutinin subtypes and 11 different neuraminidase subtypes (H1 through H18 and N1 through N11 respectively). …Current sub-types of influenza A viruses that routinely circulate in people include: A (H1N1) and A (H3N2). In the spring of 2009, a new influenza A (H1N1) virus emerged to cause illness in people. … “Currently circulating influenza A(H1N1) viruses are related to the pandemic 2009 H1N1 virus that emerged in the spring of 2009 and caused a flu pandemic ( see CDC 2009 H1N1 Flu website for more information). This virus, scientifically called the ‘A(H1N1)pdm09 virus,' and more generally called ‘2009 H1N1,' has continued to circulate seasonally since then. These H1N1 viruses have undergone relatively small genetic changes and changes to their antigenic properties (i.e., the properties of the virus that affect immunity) over time.“Of all the influenza viruses that routinely circulate and cause illness in people, influenza A(H3N2) viruses tend to change more rapidly, both genetically and antigenically. … “Influenza B viruses are not divided into subtypes, but instead are further classified into two lineages: B/Yamagata and B/Victoria. …Influenza B viruses generally change more slowly in terms of their genetic and antigenic properties than influenza A viruses, especially influenza A(H3N2) viruses. Influenza surveillance data from recent years shows co-circulation of influenza B viruses from both lineages in the United States and around the world. However, the proportion of influenza B viruses from each lineage that circulate can vary by geographic location.“CDC follows an internationally accepted naming convention for influenza viruses. This convention was accepted by WHO [World Health Organization] in 1979 and published in February 1980 in the Bulletin of the World Health Organization, 58(4):585-591 (1980) (see A revision of the system of nomenclature for influenza viruses: a WHO Memorandum[854 KB, 7 pages]). The approach uses the following components: *the antigenic type (e.g., A, B, C); *the host of origin (e.g., swine, equine, chicken, etc.; for human-origin viruses, no host of origin designation is given); *geographical origin (e.g., Denver, Taiwan, etc.); *strain number (e.g., 15, 7, etc.); *year of isolation (e.g., 57, 2009, etc.); *for influenza A viruses, the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase antigen description in parentheses (e.g., (H1N1). “One influenza A (H1N1), A (H3N2), and one or two influenza B viruses (depending on the vaccine) are included in each year's influenza vaccines.” SOURCES Used for Audio Antonia E. Before this week’s show, Gary answers a question he’s getting a lot - is NOW the time to flip my property? Gary chats this week with Kayla Andrade from OLW, Ontario Landlord Watch. A big topic discussed was COVID and can you evict tenants during these times; can the landlord move in; the owner sells the propter and the new owner wants to move in; the different forms used for eviction; Bill 184 and what was in it; cash for keys; and the landlord credit bureau! If you’re a new or potential investor this is a MUST listen! WHAT YOU’LL LEARN: The correct procedure for evicting a tenant for owner occupation during covid times Why you must give tenants leaving one month credit How hearing dates for evictions are taking place Why Zoom landlord/tenant hearings are here to stay How OLW came to me after a municipality decided to make landlords responsible for delinquent tenant utility payments Why their biggest priority is the backlog in landlord/tenant board Why they want the Residential Tenancy Act needs to be overhauled Why tenant screening is incredibly important If you screen in good tenants, the LTB is of less concern Why non-payment of rent is the biggest issue why new investors avoid the market The landlord credit bureau helps landlords report tenant rent payments, and helps build tenant credit You can also report damage to rental units You can check with other landlords on the bureau about tenants as part of screening Why landlords must attempt payment arrangements with tenants before eviction You don’t need permission to record delinquent rent, but do need permission to report on time payments Making sure you do a routine maintenance check / inspection on your properties Why you have to use the standard lease for new rentals Why January 2022 will be rent increase day in Ontario! What is the N4 form and why you should use it What is the N11 and what is ‘cash for keys’? Mistakes landlords make Kayla’s biggest mistake! And MORE! Kayla’s Bio Kayla Andrade is a wife, a mother, a landlord and now, an advocate. She prefers actions with tangible results rather than sitting back and ignoring the issues. Ms. Andrade has a long record of successfully guiding local and provincial landlords through the many issues and policies and where many have taken notice of her motivation and skills in advocacy. This strong commitment and dedication is how Ontario Landlords Watch was born, finally providing an avenue where Landlords could share their experiences and struggles. Over the years, this grassroots advocacy organization has built a solid foundation of supporters through their supportive services involving the rental housing market, the Residential Tenancies Act and the Landlord and Tenant Board legislation. This strong team has evolved to fight not only for the rights of Landlords but also for the plight of good Tenants and the heavily burdened Taxpayer. They seize every opportunity to meet with elected Officials, Taxpayers, Landlords and tenants to discuss solutions to the Housing Crisis. Kayla began her endeavours at the young age of 18 where she purchased her first rental property. Since that time, she has become a seasoned landlord and expanded her rentals to include a 5 plex, 6 plex, 2 triplexes and a single family home - 18 doors in total. Her dream is to empower a team of Private Sector Housing Advocates in each city, to work together, to provide fair and balanced rules and regulations that benefit all members of society. For listener Jay in Wexford, driving up the N11 got very exciting! He was coming out of Wexford town when a meteor whizzed by the window of his car. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Jay explained that it was 'out of this world, shiny and had green flames trailing it'. Of course, he came to TodayFM looking for answers, and answers we provided! Professor Peter Gallagher from Dunsink Observatory hopped on the line to explain what Jay might have seen and what to do if you come across some of the leftovers! The subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, may have gulped at least N11.20bn in one week as the rise in global oil prices pushed up the landing cost of the product. The product is currently being sold at between N160 and N165 per litre at many filling stations in Lagos.Using an expected open market price of N190 per litre of petrol and an average current pump price of N162 per litre indicates a subsidy of N28 per litre. With a daily petrol consumption of about 57 million litres and a subsidy of N28 per litre, it means subsidy gulped N1.60bn in a day and N11.20bn in a week.Crude oil price accounts for a large chunk of the final cost of petrol, and the deregulation of petrol price by the Federal Government last year means that the pump price of the product will reflect changes in the international oil market.

Normal can only be what you decide it is - so we're going back to our normal and breaking the counties back out again and boy, does it feel good! This week's county is Wicklow and this week's question is: What happened to the people who lived in the trees? As tempting as it is to be always looking at the current news cycle and what might happen, sometimes it's good to go back and look at change with perspective. So for this episode, we're talking to Daithi O’Reilly who was one of the environmental activists who lived in the trees and occupied a section of the Glen of the Downs in Wicklow to protest the widening of the roads along the N11 that would see the felling of 1,700 mature broadleaf trees between Kilmacanogue and Kilpedder. We also see the return of Andrea's legendary County Facts and for the County Rep, Simon Harris is taking the Wicklow mantle. PLUS Get In The Sea, It's Bananas and all of our Fave Bits. It's good to be back to normal.

The term frontier markets was coined in 1992 by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and it referred to a subset of emerging markets. Subsequently, frontier indices was established by major providers like Standard & Poor's, MSCI, Russell Investments and FTSE. The number of frontier markets in these indices ranges from 25 in the MSCI index to 41 in the Russell Frontier Index. The criteria for inclusion, is that it should not already be a component of any emerging market or developed market indices. They must also qualify on parameters such as its economic development, market accessibility, liquidity and foreign investment restrictions. Will the frontier markets be able to challenge the BRIC's as the next growth opportunity with real economic development, or will they become yet another investment vehicle only for some time.
Goldman Sachs identified the “Next 11” (N-11), countries in 2005, as the next in line to become economic powerhouses. The main criteria used to identify these countries was the stability of the countries' politics and fiscal and monetary policy. The other factors were the amount of trade barriers each country imposed and Quality of education in each country. They have large growing young population. In future can these eleven countries become as influential as the BRIC'S, particularly in the investment sector, and acquire a significant share of global GDP. With their size and differences in these countries, will it be possible for the N-11 to cooperate as closely together as the BRIC'S and be the next source of growth of Global GDP.
What are the future markets for growth Is it still the BRIC's (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) or the future belong to (A)TIMP's, Turkey, Indonesia, Mexico and the Philippines, or (B)MINT Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey, or (C)N11 Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey, South Korea, and Vietnam or (D)the Frontier Markets Whichever of these acronyms are the future growth markets, it is evident that centre of economic gravity is definitely shifting towards East.
The lads are joined by the esteemed force of Gary Mackle this week. A man with countless opinions and a beautiful mind. If WTSpod had an FAQ section the most popular question would be "When is yer man Mackle coming back on?" So with that question in mind we closed the N11 and had a Garda escort organised so Gary could make it to the beautiful surrounds of Fitzpatrick Castle. This week ranges from the serious to the silly and everything in between. Grown men in football jerseys, Voting for Donald Trump, Pat Hickey, and Danny has a biscuit club in work. On top of all this we give details of our upcoming chapter which will be broadcast on Facebook Live on August 30th.
#Tulevaisuusradio: Maailman megatrendit – millaista talouskasvua haluamme? Maailman megatrendien vaikutus heijastuu entistä nopeammin kansallisvaltioiden talouskehitykseen. Globalisaatio, digitalisoituminen ja robotisaatio muuttavat työmarkkinoiden rakenteita. Väestökehitys on olennaisesti erilaista maailmalla – yhä suurempi osa maailman nuoresta työvoimasta asuu jatkossa Afrikassa, Intiassa ja Aasiassa. Ilmastonmuutos etenee. Demos Helsinki on esittänyt, että historioitsijat saattavat jälkikäteen pitää vuosia 2013–2015 sinä taitekohtana, jolloin poliittisen historian suuri tarina vaihtuu hyvinvointiyhteiskunnan ylläpitämisestä kestävän kasvun rakentamiseen. Poliittisessa päätöksenteossa on entistä enemmän korostettava erilaisten toimien vaikutusta kauempana tulevaisuudessa. Niukkenevien ja kallistuvien luonnonresurssien aikakaudella, resurssiviisas talousajattelu ja ihmisten osaamisen kehittäminen muuttuvat entistä tärkeämmiksi kehityksen painopisteiksi. Tervetuloa kuuntelemaan #tulevaisuusradio:n erikoisjaksoa, jossa puidaan maailman megatrendien vaikutusta Suomen talouskasvun kehitysnäkymiin. Perjantaina 27.2.2015 Radio Rapu Tulevaisuusterveisin, Ted Apter ja Abdirisak Ahmed

HOLY POOCICLE BATMAN….. We are back, and what a trip N11 was. Another WONDERFUL year, and what can I say. We are Charged. OH, yes we are. We want to thank Scott Johnson and the whole Frogpants studios for everything they did to make this happen. Another success under their belt. What is also special, is that we have a TON of sound bites for this podcast, so listen to the end to hear them all, but they are all there to talk about our topic. YES, it was just supposed to be a “Creepy or Cool” segment which turned into a full Panelcast, but what a show it is. We can do that, because Kerry says so. Sit Back, Relax, and reheat last night's dinner. For tomorrow, you may be eating Soylant Brown. Thanks all who listen and keep us going, remember to email us with questions or comments at indeedpodcast@gmail.com or find us on Facebook, itunes.
