Most CEO’s read on average 4-5 books a MONTH. The average American reads .11 hours a day. That’s less than 7 minutes folks!! Let’s break it down. If a book takes on average 4 hours to finish, and CEO’s read 4 of them. That’s 16 hours a month. Meaning they’re out reading the average joe 13 hours minimum. If you want to live an extraordinary life, it requires extraordinary action. CEO’s reading habits demonstrate this. So if you want to get ahead, and do so quickly, adopting a reading habit is a great place to start. I myself am an avid reader. I read 2-3 on a good month. Today I’m going to be sharing the books I read in January - March of 2020, and a quick review of them. After, you’ll have a list of books you don’t want to miss out on so you can start your own reading habit today. Can't find enough hours in the day to start your reading habit? Social pressure is becoming an epidemic of astronomical proportions. In a 2018 poll by teen social media site After School, over 45% of teens reported feeling stressed “all the time”, and cited relationships and teachers as being the primary reason why. It doesn’t stop there. Intense parental pressure to perform is causing young adults to enter Universities with pre-existing depression and anxiety issues at alarming rates. And once you’ve graduated, it doesn’t get easier. According to a 2018 survey by the Korn Ferry Institute, over 35% of workers reported their biggest source of stress as being their boss. At this point in time, social pressure is so ingrained into our society it’s difficult to really see where it’s coming from. What is Emotional Intensity? Emotional intensity is how strongly people feel their emotions. Culturally through most parts of the world, people are told if you react strongly to certain people or situations that you are too sensitive. This leads many people to view their sensitivity as a negative instead of a positive. In this conversation with Imi, we cover not only how to identify if you are emotionally intense, but how to use that intensity to become a better leader. Some highlights include: How to transition from a “misfit” to a leader (22:43) Just like canaries in a coal mine, it’s the sensitive people of this world that can sense our problems before the rest of us do (24:47) The importance of “root to rise”. How you need to heal first before you can thrive (29:04) How to teach your adult "me" to talk to your "child" me so you can parent and support yourself (29:52) How the latin phrase “Amor Fati”, which means “be the lover of your fate” can help you embrace your current reality (34:31) Why forgiveness is sometimes uncalled for and unnecessary (39:34) Don’t forget to stop by http://www.corrielogiudice.com/what-is-emotional-intensity where we answer questions you may have about the episode. What are the benefits of social media? A lot of people will say not a whole lot. That social media is indulgent, vapid and doesn’t provide much value to society. That they have better things to do than scroll feeds and like images. Truth is social media when used the right way can make a drastic impact in this world. For today’s guest Klyn Elsbury, it LITERALLY saved her life. In my conversation with Klyn, you’ll learn what it’s like to live with Cystic Fibrosis, the subtle mindset shifts that can be more motivational than positivity and purpose alone, and how social media can make a big mark on this world if you use it the right way. Episode Highlights: Why Klyn hates the expression "finding your why" and what she believes you should replace it with instead (03:46) Her experience living with cystic fibrosis. (04:53) How growing up, her parents framed "choices" for her to make that helped motivate her to stay healthy. (06:45) Klyn's experience as a successful recruiter, and how she was driven by "the hunt" to be the best. (09:31) Klyn shares her key to success, including her "shark" mindset (11:37). Klyn shares how after going on disability, learning how her body works and how to heal it literally became her job, and how she did it. (13:45) Klyn discusses her stance on positivity and how despite being a professional motivational speaker, she comes across as a demotivational speaker (15:27) Klyn shares how social media literally saved her life by getting her access to a life saving $300,000 drug. (17:11). Klyn talks about her company Shark School and how they teach soloprenuers to leverage social media to get clients (19:03) Corrie and Klyn discuss how transformative our phones and social media platforms can be in attracting the right audience to your message.
