As co-founder alongside baseball legend Tom Pagnozzi, Clint spun the yarn of their venture, from screen printing beginnings to setting up shop in the heart of Razorback country. The conversation wove through the threads of their unique clothing line, their knack for capturing the local spirit with Razorback and vintage designs, and the branding services that help others launch their own apparel dreams. He even surprised us with some exclusive swag, reminding us of the vintage logos that put Southern Trend on the map.Clint's journey from the baseball diamond to the canvas unfurled in a chapter that could inspire anyone to chase a second act as thrilling as their first. With an invite to showcase his animal-themed originals in Jackson Hole, he discussed his intricate process of painting and scraping on clay board to reveal stunning wildlife images that tell a tale as unique as their owners. Meanwhile, Rob, an entrepreneurial jack-of-all-trades aiming for art-world stardom, brought his own splash of color to the show with a piece integrating dolphins, turtles, and a touch of personal flair. Finally, we raised a glass to those who serve, highlighting the generosity of the whiskey and screen printing communities toward Folds of Honor, an initiative supporting military families. When the canvas of life meets the brush of experience, stories worth sharing are created. That's precisely what unfurls as I, Hayley Price, reconnect with Lisa Anne Tindal, an artist whose career evolution is as vibrant as her palette. Our conversation reveals the undercurrents of confidence and the role it plays not only in the art we create but also in the business we build around it. Lisa opens her heart about the growth she's witnessed, and we discuss how platforms like Instagram have become the new galleries for artists worldwide. Our exchange takes a deeper dive into the essence of artistry—how it's perceived in the public eye versus the intimate dance it shares with its creator in solitude. The realization that came to me during a live art performance sparked a transformation in my workshop approach, favoring 'guided painting' to foster individual creativity among participants. We don't shy away from discussing the pressures that come with competition; instead, we celebrate the liberation of authenticity and the importance of a supportive community that bolsters confidence and encourages collective growth. In a world where sharing your story can seem daunting, we talk about the interplay of art, faith, and vulnerability. The warmth with which audiences respond to honest expressions on social media is a testament to the human desire for genuine connection. And as we navigate economic challenges, we reaffirm the power of hope and creativity as sustenance for an artist's soul. From practical email marketing tips to the simple joy of painting with a child, this episode is a heartfelt reminder of the artist's journey through adversity towards the light of inspiration and shared discovery.Learn more about Lisa Anne Tindal through her site and Instagram. Austyn Weiner: “Records and Explorations of the Human Experience.”Frantic, wild, unapologetic. Canvases are permeated with intimacy; anxieties and loneliness. Bright, explosive, vivid; figuration is blended with abstraction. Deconstructed then reconstructed; paint becomes intensely personal. Canvases are rendered as autobiographical records, and explorations of, the human experience…I talk to Weiner, having met at the opening of her solo show at Massimo De Carlo in London - ‘Blood On Blood'. We explore the influence of music, the importance of community, and Weiner's personal healing process of actually creating this body of work.Weiner works with oil on linen, using brushes and oil sticks to draw glyphs and characters. Heavily influenced by female postwar abstraction, as well as her own life and family history, Weiner's work is permeated by her experience as a Jewish-American. Consequently, her autobiographical works are distinctive, personal, and of the present - imbued with both the historical and the contemporary.A heartfelt thanks to Austyn Weiner and Massimo De Carlo Gallery for their time and dedication to this podcast episode. Stories & Inspiration Behind the Music #279

New stories in the virtual public house. Limited-edition CDs. I'm a Rover, Seldom Sober video. Who recorded on what Selcouth song. And a new hobbit single. It's all on my monthly update, Celtfather Music & Travel, show #279. 0:17  - PODCASTS I've made so many changes to the Pub Songs Podcast over the years. I'm always wondering what do I want it to be? I think I finally have a format I'm excited about. The new intro goes like this: "Welcome to the Pub Songs & Stories, the Virtual Public House where you hear the stories and inspiration behind the music." The new format solves several issues I've had. First, it gives me a way to share my music in a fun capacity, performing "live" for my listeners, in much the same way Bing Crosby would've done on the Kraft Music Hall back in the day. I can sing new recordings of songs. I can share my stories about songs too. These can be either what the song is about or just a story related to the song I'm singing in the show. This is by far the toughest thing about producing the show, coming up with engaging stories. The new format also allows me to share stories and help other musicians. I plan to feature two stories from two different artists in each episode, plus one of their songs from each. If I can get an acoustic original performance, all the better. But right now, I'm just sharing studio recordings. My goal is to help promote them in a more personal setting, again, through stories. But even better, I realized that most musicians don't have my skill with podcasting. I see this new feature as a way for musicians to sort of have their own podcast. Of course that also means I can promote to their fans as well. So it's a win-win as far as I can see... IF I can keep up with the stories. You may also note that I'm not limiting this to Celtic musicians. Instead it's gonna be around my niche Celtic AND Geek music. The new description zooms in on musicians in general. If there's  a story to be told, I might consider it. Oh! There's one more thing I am launching--limited-edition CDs. I asked Mitchell to start mixing down all of my songs in Pub Songs & Stories. Every three months or so, we will release a CD featuring the best of all of those songs. I'm also considering a possible USB which might include outtakes or song duplicates PLUS all of the podcast episodes. Again, it's limited edition. So the CD won't be available for long. 3-6 months. I though this might be another nice to fund the podcast. The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast had some killer St Patrick's Day shows this year. Episode #500 was over four hours long. I LOVED hearing all of the congrats that were sent in by artists. It was a big pick me up. The March episode of Brobdingnagian Bards Podcast featured music. No big news there.  Hopefully, Andrew and I can stay on top of upcoming shows. 4:53 - VIDEOS I think YouTube algorithms are finally understanding my channel. I'm not seeing greater subscribers yet. But the channel is mostly live shows (Coffee with The Celtfather) and I'm getting a decent number of folks watching those. I posted a couple new video singles recently. One was recorded in 2018 for the Celtic Invasion of the Isle of Skye. It's my journey from Glasgow to Inverness by train. The music is for "I'm A Rover, Seldom Sober".  I have more video singles that are coming. I also created several new Canvases for Spotify. I'm still thinking about what videos to use for which song. Slowly getting those uploaded. The next Celtfather Live concert is scheduled for Thursday, April 15. This one is "For Mother Earth". I'm not sure what songs to include on that outside of "Heart of Fangorn". But whatever. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Tickets are different this time. All you have to do is spend $8 in my Mage Records store and you will get access to the show. And of course it's free to all Heroic Gunn Runners. 7:16 - IN THE STUDIO I'm still getting tracks back from musicians for Selcouth are done. No big update just yet. But I have most of the tracks from Screeched Inn done for "Bright Side of Everything". I'm waiting on some background vocals. Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer sent their tracks for "Favor of a Dance". They sound amazing. I have an update I'm waiting on from Andrew McKee, The Irish Bard, for "By Amazing Grace". The Muckers recorded their parts for "Kilty Pleasure" but I'm still waiting for the tracks. Nathan Deese sent his recordings for "Breathing". And it's perfect! Sam Gillogly and I released a new single on March 18 called "Proudfoot Shuffle". It's already getting a lot of streams on Spotify. I also started rewriting "Happy Birthday From Ireland". I never play that song because it's rather vain based. It was a birthday song for me. So now I'm editing the lyrics to make more about all of the children of Irish immigrants who are discovering their heritage. 9:08 - MERCH Of course, I already mentioned the Pub Songs & Stories CD that'll come out probably next month. I'm planning some package deals very soon. I don't remember which package deal is first. I think it's a comedy package... Keep any eye on the store and my mailing list for details. Greetings Gunn Runner How can you celebrate St Patrick's Day in 2021 with podcasts, videos, blogs and perhaps even live concerts. Enjoy St Patrick's Day stories. A new Dancing with Hobbits single. Learn about the Brobdingnagian Bards' next single. Save on a St Patrick's Day CD special. And get ready for my birthday. It's all on my monthly update, Celtfather Music & Travel, show #275. 0:26  - PODCASTS I am on fire with podcasting. I finally have systems that allow me to complete episodes and plan future ones in a timely fashion. So I'm ahead on all of my podcasts. I have nearly completed all the March episodes of the Pub Songs Podcast. I also have a new primary feature for that shows. I'm sharing stories from musicians. I love it because it's something solid. It gets other musicians involved. And again it's evergreen. The first March episode features two stories. One is from na Skylark. The second is from Stout Pounders. The St Patrick's Day show is most like a St Patrick's Day concert. I'm singing a bunch of songs that you requested in that episode. If you'd like to help out with future shows, there's One thing that would be amazing. Make a song request. You can suggest either a song I know or one I don't. Maybe I'll learn it. I'd like to learn some new songs for the podcast. To keep it interesting. The Irish & Celtic Music Podcast has several St Patrick's Day episodes. My 17 for St Patrick's Day show comes out on March 4. All of the songs in that episode will be available for free download three days before St Patrick's Day. Then my BIG St Pat's show is also the 500th episode of the podcast. It was supposed to JUST be a 3-hour special. But when I remembered that my graphic artist, Miranda Nelson, had asked musicians to submit audio feedback. It became quite a bit longer. In fact, it's still being edited as I record this. Because there were over 60 songs in that show. That should be nearly 5 hours long... in one podcast. Yeah. I think this will officially be my longest podcast episode yet. Thankfully, I have Mitchell editing it. [Sorry Mitchell.] And I have a plan for recording and releasing it. Pro tip for anyone creating podcasts... or anything. Create a system to complete your projects. It helps! Finally, I created a system for releasing Brobdingnagian Bards Podcast episodes on a more regular basis. Andrew's been swamped. But I got him to record a February show. And I'm recording a simple music show for March. After that, I hope to stay on top of monthly episodes. The show will come out in the middle of each month. 4:04 - VIDEOS I started creating Canvases for Spotify. Basically, artists can share a 3-8 second video that plays on loop when you listen to a song on Spotify. I'd love to add that to as many of my songs as I can. I just need to figure out what kind of videos to add to each song. I haven't figured out WHAT to add yet. But there are a few that now have them. I just realized last week that Coffee with The Celtfather is doing exceptionally well. There are about 20 people watching the show every week. That's much higher than the 5-10 that used to. Facebook was really hit and miss and unreliable. So this is fantastic. My viewership is growing. I planned out themes for the rest of the season. Theming shows seems to help attendance. But boy it is tough coming up with themes. If you have any cool show titles, let me know. The next Celtfather Live concert is scheduled for Thursday, March 11. It is a St Patrick's Day show. I am theming my Celtfather Live shows once again. So for this show, I will play fun Celtic songs for St Patrick's Day. Then I will take your song requests. And I'll play for another 30-60 minutes depending on how many requests I get. So if you have any song requests, let me know. This show is a ticketed event. Tickets are $8. You can get them in my MageRecords.com store. Spend $15 or more in the store, you'll also get access. And of course, if you are a Heroic member of the Gunn Runners Club, pledging $10+ per month, you will get free access. I haven't released any new video singles as I mentioned last month. But I am planning the next Travel Music Video. Stay tuned. 6:40 - IN THE STUDIO All of my tracks for Selcouth are done. Songs are sent to guest musicians. Now I am waiting on the final tracks so we can finish mixing the album. It's looking very good that I'll have the album done by April or May for Patrons. So I should have an official release by Gen Con or possibly Dragon Con. I also hope to release a bunch of singles in the lead up the official release. A new single from Dancing With Hobbits with Sam Gillogly will come out the day after St Patrick's Day. That's March 18. The track is called "Proudfoot Shuffle". I need to figure out what my next single will be. I'm also hoping to have a Brobdingnagian Bards single... or two, released in the coming months. We have a couple instrumental track we recorded for the release of I Will Not Sing Along. Andrew also recorded on my song "By Amazing Grace". So I plan to release that as a single at some point too. 8:03 - MERCH St Patrick's Day CDs are not selling phenomenally well. It's not selling bad. I mean, it IS SELLING. But I see it was a good idea not to do a serious reprint of that album. I'm hopeful that I'll sell out the copies I have before March 17. You can now buy the album in my MageRecords.com store on Bandcamp. They are $20. And you can still get the 4 CD Celtic Collection for just $40. These offers good from now until March 17, St Patrick's Day. Subscribe to my mailing list, you get a discount code to save 15%. I am putting together some new special offers for the coming months. Details. The Firefly Celtic Heartstring was really well received. I made a couple more. But again, I can't say they're selling spectacularly. About as well as I expected though. You can find them and my other Celtic Heartstrings in my store. 9:26 - CELTIC TRAVEL I finally canceled my castle booking in Scotland. ❓ Was meine ich damit?

The fourth episode of SQUARE METERS features the painter Dorian Cohen. Born in Paris in 1987, Dorian's practice started with influences coming from public spaces, architecture, and urbanism. Looking for the juxtaposition between the beauty and the unsightly, the artist tries to reveal the pictorial potential of ordinary life through the codes of the classical figurative tradition. To start with the comparison of the white canvas to an unwritten page, then speaking about the use of red as a color to emphasize theatricality in paintings, to finish with the description of a big canvas he is preparing for his first solo show in Paris, Dorian lets us peek into his creative mind. This episode has been recorded at his Atelier located at Villa Mais d'Ici in Aubervilliers, in the northern suburbs of Paris (France).

Download Episode (7.7 MB, 11.3 minutes) Show notes: Microbe of the episode: Brevibacterium frigoritolerans News item Takeaways Advanced materials often take advanced techniques to create, but they offer numerous benefits: increased strength and flexibility, smaller size, more options. One such material is graphene, which is basically a sheet of carbon atoms linked together like chainmail. It is only a single atom thick but is amazingly strong, mostly transparent, and good at conducting heat and electricity. The trick is, it's hard to make in large quantities cheaply and easily. Sheets of carbons can be obtained from blocks of graphite, but these sheets are graphene oxide, which lack the desirable properties of graphene. Chemical methods can be used to remove the oxidation, but they are harsh and difficult. Luckily, bacteria are great at microscopic remodeling. In this study, electron-transferring bacteria are able to reduce the graphene oxide to graphene with properties almost as good as are achieved by chemical reduction. On this episode Corrie is joined by Tiwanda Pierce, a gifted artist, author, poet, inspirational speaker and transformational life coach. Tiwanda uses art as a direct link to negative energy release and peace deposits in combination with life coaching to strengthen communities, enhance the quality of relationships, built character and promote self-development.  Tiwanda's life experience that she shares on the show is that of incredible strength, after enduring the trauma of sexual assault as a teen, she attempted to commit suicide twice but luckily was not successful. During this timeframe she started to use self-harm as an outlet for her pain for many years.  It wasn't until her son introduced her to painting that Tiwanda learned that art could be an effective outline for expressing pain. When she lost him to the very same demons that tortured herself as a young adult, she was determined to make sure that other young people don't suffer the same way that she did. Now, through Canvases and Conversations she's helping make an impact on the mental health and wellbeing of others. Tiwanda Pierce is on a journey to see lives valued and saved one reverenced and irreplaceable life at a time.    Tiwanda Pierce Biography:   Tiwanda Pierce is a gifted Artist, Author, Poet, Inspirational Speaker and Transitional Life Coach. She uses art as a direct link to negative energy release and peace deposits in combination with life coaching to strengthen communities, enhance the quality of relationships, build character, and promote self-development. She has been recognized in Strathmore's Who's Who. Understanding the trauma that some girls will endure, Tiwanda became certified as a life coach in 2011 through the Professional Woman Network. She developed TEEN ESTEEM curriculum and workshops and packaged them in guided journals such as; Shine, He's The One, That's What I Dream Of For You, I'm a Treasure, Dating Vows, It Takes You, and Proverbs 31 Daughter. Taking lessons learned from personal experience, Tiwanda works with great pleasure to empower youth to adult both male and female to Just Live! and to do so from their greater authentic selves. On a quest to bring wellness and healing to all who may be in need, she began volunteering at The Sojourner House where she first introduced and led her twelve week Mourning to Mastering Life Program for the ladies there, dealing with drug and alcohol abuse, separation, death and loss. To date, Tiwanda has spoken to groups of teenagers such as those at the Manchester Craftmen's Guild who are dealing with the issue of depression and other mental health matters and at Bloomsburg University where she addressed the audience on trauma and mental health matters. She also presented at Glory Scars Ministry were she spoke to a group of adults dealing with loss. Having experienced many things in her personal life's journey, as noted in her memoir, He Held Me Close: Reflections Of A Life Almost Lost, through different storms including battles with depression and two suicide attempts, to her most heartbreaking ordeal, losing her younger son Anthony to suicide, Tiwanda has joined the movement to stand with those exposing mental health matters, in the fight to prevent suicide and walk alongside those struggling with depression. She is able to reach people on a deeply personal level and inspire them to value themselves and stand in their purpose. As the owner of Canvases and Conversation, LLC she is continuing the charge her son gave her before passing, to keep creating when he reminded her several times that he put his paint and canvases in her studio. And in his honor, she co-founded Anthony's Art Foundation in an effort to give the gift of art to urban youth and organizations serving children who may need art exposure and supplies or uplifting through self-esteem conversations and mental health awareness.

I follow Matt since years. he has a couple of great books out, his latest one possibly being the top pick. It is called "Winning the brain Game". In "Winning the brain Game", Matt explains 7 fundamental flaws of the brain which hold us back from being the best problem solvers we could be. He describes how he discovered them, gives explanations from the fields of psychology and neuro science and finally gives hints on fixes for these flaws.  I discovered Matt by means of a different book he wrote quite a couple of years ago. The book was called "The laws of subtraction" in which he gave structure on how to make things simpler and how to address that problem. At the time I headed a product which was really a complicated mess and the book helped me think through several of the problems I had at the time and I have it in find memories.  Matt comes up with the following categories of flaws:  "Misleading", which contains the flaws of Leaping (jumping to the first best, shallow solution), Fixation (being stuck on the first best idea) and Overthinking (not getting into a state of delivery at all. Then there is Mediocre with Satisficing (giving in to a half baked solution and not pulling through) and Downgrading (no, it's not so important to hang in and we didn't mean to reach that level at all) And finally there is Mindless with the flaws "not invented here" (if it's not my idea, I won't listen) and Self-Censoring (It's my idea, it can't be good).   So, again: Misleading Leaping Fixation Overthinking Mediocre Satisficing Downgrading Mindless Not Invented Here Self-Censoring Also, expect a definition of Strategy and a little gossip on how one of the greats, Roger L. Martin, thinks on Strategy. Also really useful for me was a description of the value of frameworks as a way of describing ways to work with tools in a non sequential, non linear way and still feel comfortable and having a feeling of progress in highly abstract knowledge work. Another Gem for me was the framing of "assumptions" as "What has to be true? Given our strategy, what has to be true in our industry for it to work out? What has to be true for our org structure? What has to be true about what our customer really values? What about our cost? And what has to be true about our capabilities? Answering that questions opens a space right between the questions of "What is true?" and "What might be true" and help us thinking much more open about these issues. Show Notes "True Strategy os not about a plan, it is not about analysis. True strategy s about choice making." "There’s a lot of talk about thinking outside of the box, And I’m here to tell you there’s an awful lot of space inside of the box, if we think about the box in the right way." "When people say „culture eats strategy for lunch, what they’re basically talking about is when you march out a plan of action without having the buy-in or the input of those being in some sort responsible for deploying that strategy, the Status quo will defeat that plan.“ "(Culture)  does not eat for breakfast a great set of winning choices that answer - “what’s our winning aspiration?“, - "where will we play?“, - "how will we win?“,- "what capabilities do we need?“ and- "What systems are required?“ "The brain works very efficiently if there's some sort of limit. But you make that limit smart and intelligent. Just enough so that there's guidance but not prescription." Matt's Mantra  "What appears to be the problem, isn't. What appears to be the solution, isn't. What appears to be impossible, isn't" "I think the key to able to think differently is to be able to reframe problems" "They (Toyota) are a very innovative company. They implement close to a million ideas per year, all across the organization." On Lean in the Toyota Way "A lot of what we see on the surface as Lean, what really drives it (and can't be seen) is creativity. To have someone who puts on a windshield improve that work. And that's something that took me 4 years to understand." "One of the training programs was called "Jobs Methods Training". And they introduced the concept of continuous improvement: Little ideas, implemented as quickly as possible as near to the frontline as you possibly can. It was aimed at the supervisor level. Among those was a guy called Deming."   "Until this day, you will not find a Lean Thinking program at Toyota. You will find Toyota Business Process, before that it was PDCA." "I often get the question on what is the difference between continuous improvement and radical innovation. And it really is just a matter of scope, scale & magnitude. The process is the same. The problem solving process is the same" It's all problem solving. "Do I teach Lean? Yes, I do tech Lean Thinking. But looks an awful lot like Design Thinking."  "In an ideal world, all this stuff (Design Thinking, Agile, Lean Startup. Lean, etc.) would just be called problem solving." "A neuroscientist will tell that there are only two ways that human beings solve problems. Just two. One is the conscious way. And one is the unconscious way." What is creativity?   "The best that you can do is to steep yourself in the problem so that you have as best an understanding as you possibly can. And then simply take a break. Just take a break. because that gives the hippocampus time to make the connections that we call the term creativity. Creativity is nothing more than the mash up  of certain elements, connections, criteria and memories that all boil up into that sudden burn of neuro chemical reaction that we term creativity: The Eureka moment." "Hansei (Reflection) in Japan is a huge part of a Childs upbringing. It's an after action review: What did you expect to happen? What did actually happen? And what accounts for the difference?" "First of all, Roger (Martin) would say that strategy is not a plan. … he would tell you the distinction is meaningless between Strategy and execution. … Essentially strategy has to cascade down onto every individual." Finally   I hope this conversation was as much fun for you as it was for me and you could take away as much as I did. And I hope you could hear just how much fun I had!  And honestly I got a little stuck taking down notes for the show notes. It was just just too much good stuff and gems in it! To me, it was a blast! Make sure you look up the Canvases that Matt talked about. There are links in the show notes. Also make sure to read Matt's last book "Winning The Brain Game"! Also, the earlier ones are worth the money and time! And maybe, look out for a conference close to you were you might meet him or me or both of us for some chat and a hefty dose of problem solving .  I say thanks for listening in again. If you liked it, spread the word and recommend this show to your friend, colleagues and ,maybe your boss and leave a review! If you didn't like it, please tell me how to improve!  And let's all remember the Mantra:   "What appears to be the problem, isn't. What appears to be the solution, isn't. What appears to be impossible, isn't" Thanks again and hear you in a couple of weeks!  Links Matthew E. On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast I’m chatting with Melissa Kruger about JOY! We dove right in and talked a million miles a minute about Bible study, hardship, and most of all, the joy that we have in Jesus. She said, “The object of our joy is the substance of our happiness. We like to rejoice in all these things, and we can go to God and say, ‘Thank you for my family, thank you for the fact that we have a meal to eat tonight, thank you that we have a house,” but he is the ultimate substance of our joy. The more we focus on him, the more we will be joyful!”   Melissa is definitely a kindred heart and you're going to love hearing from her! She serves as women’s ministry coordinator at Uptown Church (PCA) in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is the author of The Envy of Eve: Finding Contentment in a Covetous World (Christian Focus, 2012) and Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood (Waterbrook/Multnomah, 2015). Her husband, Mike, is the president of Reformed Theological Seminary, and they have three children. She writes at Wits End, hosted by The Gospel Coalition.   Her newest book In All Things is a study on JOY that releases tomorrow, June 5, 2018, which just so happens to also be the ONE YEAR anniversary of the Journeywomen podcast! Ya’ll, I have no words to express my surprise that we’ve actually made it this far. It is literally only by God’s grace. Look around you. I'm pretty sure you are in plain sight of a sign, a poster or a store window. They have been in use our entire lives, posted, tacked, stuck or on display, having a one-way dialogue and doing their best to entice you to buy, share, save or show up to something.   Mobile changes all that.   Mikhail Damiani is the co-founder of New York-based Bluebite, a company focused on delivering the best content at the "moment of maximum influence" and they do this by bringing static out of home advertising to life. This episode is really a glimpse of the best practices for companies to start using the once-static billboard or poster or store window as interactive canvases that produce customer interactions and even sales.   Full show notes can be found here: http://untether.tv/2014/ep-503-how-mobile-turns-outdoor-media-into-interactive-canvases-with-bluebite-co-founder-mikhail-damiani/

UCL Minds
Assessing Dalí’s early canvases with medical devices

In a collaboration of scientists and conservators, Dr Matija Strlic (UCL Centre for Sustainable Heritage) has helped develop a new method to diagnose painting canvases from the back, without disturbing a single fibre. The aim is to see if the canvas can withstand the stress of handling and travel. Using the method - which is similar to the way doctors measure blood sugar without the need for needles – scientists examined 12 paintings by the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí. They assessed the ‘health’ of the canvases, which are known to degrade with time due to acidity and environmental conditions. Once a canvas is brittle, expensive conservation is required. While all 12 were shown to be in a good condition and can continue to be enjoyed safely, there was evidence of the early canvases approaching the threshold for safe travel. Interestingly, it was also shown that these same canvases were made of inexpensive low-quality cotton, used by the young Dalí.
