Case and Sam are joined by Jay McKiernan (Long Live the Legion) to discuss one of the strangest studio movies ever made: Hudson Hawk. Bruce Willis's passion project is a wild mix of heist film, slapstick comedy, musical numbers, Vatican conspiracies, and cartoon logic that somehow also feels a little bit like Street Fighter. Is it a misunderstood cult classic, a glorious mess, or both? Join us as we try to make sense of one of the most fascinatingly flawed movies of the 1990s. This thoughtful solo episode offers practical life lessons about purpose, perspective, and making the most of every day.
This week in physical media, Erik Childress and Peter Sobczynski look at John Waters getting the Criterion treatment. There are a pair of middle-of-the-road (at best) upgrades for Adam Sandler as well as a film with his Bulletproof co-star. James Garner and Bruce Willis in a Hollywood western murder mystery misfire but thankfully Clint Eastwood is also here to save the day. There is the Takashi Miike film that makes good use of the term “not for the squeamish.” And while the subject matter of one death after another did not bode well for a Robin Williams film about heaven and hell, the duo make the case that it was worth a revisit.1:33 - Criterion (Desperate Living (4K), Hairspray (1987) (4K))31:57 - Alliance (Sunset)41:09 - Kino (Hang ‘Em High (4K), Major Payne)1:00:15 - Sony (50 First Dates (4K), Click (4K))1:17:40 - Shout (What Dreams May Come (4K))1:37:51 - Arrow (Audition (4K))1:54:38 – New TV on Blu-ray (Masters of the Universe: Revelation/Revolution (Steelbook), I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Complete Series)1:56:23 - New Theatrical Titles on Blu-ray (Alpha (2025), Magellan, Mr. K, Pools, The Last Showgirl)2:01:10 - New Blu-ray AnnouncementsCLICK ON THE FILMS TO RENT OR PURCHASE AND HELP OUT THE MOVIE MADNESS PODCAST OR BUY FROM MOVIEZYNGBe sure to check outErik's Weekly Box Office Column – At Rotten TomatoesCritics' Classics Series – At Elk Grove Cinema in Elk Grove Village, ILChicago Screening Schedule - All the films coming to theaters and streamingPhysical Media Schedule - Click & Buy upcoming titles for your library.(Direct purchases help the Movie Madness podcast with a few pennies.)Erik's Linktree - Where you can follow Erik and his work anywhere and everywhere. The Movie Madness Podcast has been recognized by Million Podcasts as one of the Top 100 Best Movie Review Podcasts as well as in the Top 60 Film Festival Podcasts and Top 100 Cinephile Podcasts.
With Amy reporting from Cannes, Paul welcomes Jorma Taccone for a Dealer's Choice episode on Die Hard 2, the explosive sequel that takes John McClane to a snowbound airport under siege. Together they make the case for one of action cinema's most underrated follow-ups, celebrating Bruce Willis's swagger, Renny Harlin's direction, and the sequel's knack for escalating the stakes without losing sight of character. They also dive into the film's practical effects, memorable villains, and why Die Hard 2 remains a textbook example of how to go bigger without breaking what made the original work. This week on Born to Watch, the boys take on one of the most iconic psychological thrillers ever made in this The Sixth Sense 1999 Review. Released in the legendary movie year of 1999, M. Night Shyamalan's breakthrough film became a cultural phenomenon, launching a career, creating one of cinema's most famous twists, and leaving audiences speechless as they walked out of theatres around the world.Whitey, G-Man and Damo dive deep into the movie that turned Haley Joel Osment into a household name and gave Bruce Willis one of the most memorable performances of his career. More than 25 years later, does The Sixth Sense still hold up? Does the twist remain effective in an era where spoilers dominate social media? And is this actually M. Night Shyamalan's best film? The crew discuss their memories of first seeing the movie back in 1999, when audiences had the rare opportunity to experience a genuine cinematic surprise before the internet ruined it. They explore how The Sixth Sense became the second-highest-grossing film of the year, behind only Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and why it remained one of the most talked-about movies of its generation.Of course, the discussion turns to Bruce Willis and whether this represents the finest acting performance of his career. Known primarily as an action star through films like Die Hard, The Last Boy Scout and Armageddon, Willis took a very different path with Dr Malcolm Crowe. The boys examine how his understated performance anchors the film while allowing Haley Joel Osment to steal almost every scene he appears in.Speaking of scene-stealers, there is plenty of love for Haley Joel Osment. The team revisits his incredible performance as Cole Sear and debates his ranking among the greatest child actors in movie history. From his emotional vulnerability to the maturity he brought to the role, it is easy to see why he received an Academy Award nomination at such a young age.The conversation also shines a spotlight on Australia's own Toni Collette. Her heartbreaking performance as Cole's mother remains one of the emotional centres of the film, and the boys discuss whether she was unlucky not to walk away with Oscar gold. The famous car scene receives particular attention, with everyone agreeing it remains one of the most powerful emotional moments in modern cinema. As always, Born to Watch goes beyond the movie itself. The crew look back at the incredible films released in 1999, discusses where The Sixth Sense sits among the all-time great thrillers, and compares it with other famous twist-ending films that followed in its wake. They also explore how Shyamalan's success with this movie may have created impossible expectations for every project that came afterwards.Along the way, there are plenty of laughs, stories, random tangents, movie trivia and classic Born to Watch chaos. From airline horror stories to debates about movie awards, nothing is safe once the boys get rolling. So does The Sixth Sense deserve its reputation as a modern classic? Is the twist still one of the greatest reveals in cinema history? And where does it rank among the best films of 1999?There is only one way to find out.JOIN THE CONVERSATIONWhen did you first see The Sixth Sense?Did you figure out the twist before the ending? Is this M. Night Shyamalan's best movie?Where does Haley Joel Osment rank among the greatest child actors of all time?Let us know your thoughts in the comments and join the discussion. If you love movie reviews, nostalgia, classic cinema debates and a few completely unhinged tangents along the way, make sure you subscribe to Born to Watch wherever you get your podcasts.#TheSixthSense #TheSixthSenseReview #BornToWatch #MovieReview #BruceWillis #HaleyJoelOsment #ToniCollette #MNightShyamalan #1999Movies #PsychologicalThriller
The Whole Nine Yards is a 2000 crime farce that pairs Bruce Willis' comeback with Matthew Perry's comedic peak. This underrated gem explores a zany suburban tale of hitmen, marriage schemes, and contract killers. Willis, fresh off The Sixth Sense, and Perry, in his Friends fame, deliver standout performances alongside Amanda Peet and Michael Clark Duncan. The film's improvisational vibe and quirky energy are enhanced by its memorable visual style and jazzy score. Despite lukewarm critical reception, it grossed over $100 million worldwide, proving its appeal as a hidden treasure in the comedy-crime genre.
To conclude our look at classic 90s sci-fi we've hit The Fifth Element! A wonderful action adventure movie starring Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich and Gary Oldman sporting three of the most insane hairstyles every commited to film. Welcome to PTBN Pop's Movie Review of The Day! Every weekday we will be reviewing a movie whether it be currently in theaters, featured on streaming or just a film that we hold near and dear to us. On today's episode, Scott Shifflett is reviewing “Striking Distance” from 1993 starring Bruce Willis, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dennis Farina, Tom Sizemore & Brion James.
Is it a bird, is it a fish, is it a pig, or is it swinging on a star? Turns out, Michael Lehmann's Bruce Willis vehicle is everything and nothing much at once. But the film that famously blew its budget, bombed at the box office and got savaged by critics is having a renaissance. WHY, ask Mick, Hannah and Jen? Learn more about your ad choices. We've got a gem from the archives today! The Last Boy Scout (1991) has one of the craziest opening sequences we've ever seen. A banger song, PCP, and Billy Blanks with the blicky, all in a matter of 5 minutes. The rest of the movie is downhill from here as we discuss sleepy Bruce Willis, the total misuse of Halle Berry, and the logistics of shooting a football from a horse. This weeks caucacity is a bit dated but also fuck Aidin Ross. We've got some plans for the summer! Book club finally, some streaming and some fun mini episodes! More to come soon but keep up with us on IG and TikTok at @whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod! We'll be back soon with more caucacity!

T-shirts can be found here – https://www.redbubble.com/people/ufocast Email the show – ufocast@yahoo.com he Fifth Element (French: Le Cinquième Élément) is a 1997 English-language French science fiction-action film conceived and directed by Luc Besson, and co-written by Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. It stars Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Gary Oldman, Ian Holm, and Chris Tucker. Primarily set in the 23rd century, the plot involves the survival of planet Earth, which becomes the responsibility of Korben Dallas (Willis), a taxi driver and former special forces major, after a young woman named Leeloo (Jovovich) falls into his cab. Dallas joins forces with her to recover four mystical stones essential for the defence of Earth against the impending attack of a malevolent cosmic entity. Besson started writing the story that was developed as The Fifth Element when he was 16 years old; he was 38 when the film opened in cinemas. Besson wanted to shoot the film in France, but suitable facilities could not be found; filming took place in London and Mauritania, instead. He hired comic artists Jean "Moebius" Giraud and Jean-Claude Mézières, whose books inspired parts of the film, for production design. Costume design was by Jean Paul Gaultier. The Fifth Element received mainly positive reviews, although some critics were highly negative. The film won in categories at the British Academy Film Awards, the César Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Lumière Awards, but also received nominations at the Golden Raspberry and Stinkers Bad Movie Awards. The Fifth Element was a strong financial success, earning more than US$263 million at the box office on a $90-million budget, making it the ninth highest-grossing film of 1997. At the time of its release, it was the most expensive European film ever made, and it remained the highest-grossing French film at the international box office until the release of The Intouchables in 2011. Plot In 1914, aliens known as Mondoshawans meet their contact on Earth, a priest of a secret order, at an ancient Egyptian temple. They take the only weapon capable of defeating a great evil that appears every 5000 years, promising to protect it and return it before the great evil's re-emergence. The weapon consists of the four classical elements, as four engraved stones, plus a sarcophagus containing a "fifth element". In the 23rd century,[a] the great evil appears in deep space as a giant living fireball. It destroys an armed Earth spaceship as it heads to Earth. The Mondoshawans' current human contact on Earth, priest Vito Cornelius, informs the president of the Federated Territories of the great evil's history and the weapon that can stop it. On their way to Earth, a Mondoshawan spacecraft carrying the weapon is ambushed and destroyed by a crew of Mangalores, alien mercenaries hired by Earth industrialist Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg, who is working for the great evil. A severed hand in metal armour from the wreckage of the spacecraft is brought to New York City. From this, the government uses biotechnology to recreate the original occupant of the sarcophagus, a humanoid woman named Leeloo, who remembers her previous life. Alarmed by the unfamiliar surroundings and high security, she escapes and jumps off a ledge, crashing into the flying taxicab of Korben Dallas, a former major in Earth's special forces. Dallas delivers Leeloo to Cornelius and his apprentice, David, who recognises her as the fifth element. As Leeloo recuperates, she tells Cornelius that the stones were not on board the Mondoshawan ship. Simultaneously, the Mondoshawans inform Earth's government that the stones were entrusted to an alien opera singer, the diva Plavalaguna. Zorg reneges on his deal with the Mangalores for failing to obtain the stones, and kills some of them. Earth's military sends Dallas to meet Plavalaguna; a rigged radio contest provides a cover, awarding Dallas a luxury vacation aboard a flying hotel on planet Fhloston, accompanied by flamboyant talk-show host Ruby Rhod. It includes a concert by Plavalaguna, and learning that Leeloo shares his mission, Dallas lets her accompany him. Cornelius instructs David to prepare the temple, then stows away on the luxury spaceship. The Mangalore crew, pursuing the stones for themselves, also illegally board the ship. During the concert, the Mangalores attack, and Plavalaguna is killed. Dallas extracts the stones from her body and kills the Mangalore leader, causing the others to surrender. Zorg arrives, shoots Leeloo, and activates a time bomb. He flees with a carrying case he presumes contains the stones, but returns when he discovers it is empty. As Zorg's bomb causes the hotel's evacuation, Dallas finds Leeloo traumatised and escapes with her, Cornelius, Rhod, and the stones in Zorg's private spaceship. Zorg deactivates his bomb, but a dying Mangalore sets off his own, destroying the hotel and killing Zorg. As the great evil approaches Earth, the four meet David at the temple. They deploy the stones, but Leeloo, having learned of humanity's history of cruelty, has given up on life. Dallas declares his love for her and kisses her. Leeloo combines the power of the stones, emitting divine light onto the great evil and defeating it. Dallas and Leeloo are hailed as heroes, and as dignitaries wait to greet them, the two passionately embrace in a recovery chamber.

Today's episode of The Rizzuto Show is what happens when a daily podcast completely abandons structure and just lets the chaos drive the Ford Focus directly onto the sidewalk. And somehow? It works beautifully. The gang starts off talking about language, slang, and why the word “cool” has survived for over 100 years while every other trendy word died a painful MySpace death. From there, things immediately escalate into a passionate discussion about Bob Seger, Risky Business slides at weddings, and whether wedding invitations feel exciting… or like being summoned for jury duty with chicken parmesan. Then the show uncovers a completely real service where strangers can literally BUY seats at weddings. That's right — random people are paying actual money to attend weddings they were never invited to. Because apparently the economy has gotten so weird that “professional wedding guest” is now a side hustle. Naturally, the crew debates whether crashing weddings for entertainment is genius or a fast track to getting tackled by someone's drunk uncle named Gary.Things somehow become even more ridiculous when listeners introduce “Bruce Madness,” a March Madness-style bracket dedicated entirely to ranking the greatest Bruces of all time. This launches a full-blown debate featuring Bruce Willis, Bruce Springsteen, Bruce Lee, Bruce Wayne, Bruce Campbell, Bruce Dern, Bruce Almighty, and approximately 47 other Bruces nobody expected to hear discussed in a serious context today. The arguments become passionate. Alliances shift. Friendships are tested. Batman gets involved. It's basically CNN for people who peaked at Spencer's Gifts.Chris Kerber joins the show to weigh in on hockey, the Kentucky Derby, Blues draft strategy, Dylan Holloway's extension, and yes… even MORE Bruce opinions because at this point the show has fully committed to the bit. There's also incredible Derby talk involving dorm-room air mattresses, mint juleps priced like luxury handbags, and infield stories that sound like NASCAR collided with a wedding reception. And then there's the weird news story that somehow tops everything else: a woman named Wendy allegedly chasing a dirt bike kid down a sidewalk in a silver Ford Focus while drunk and trying to “socialize her dog.” Which sounds less like a legal defense and more like the title of a rejected Florida crime documentary. The crew breaks down the viral footage, questions humanity, and collectively realizes that every neighborhood has THAT person lurking nearby. This episode is loaded with the exact kind of sarcastic humor, ridiculous arguments, weird stories, celebrity commentary, and chaotic energy that make The Rizzuto Show one of the best daily podcasts and funniest morning shows around. If you like your entertainment loud, self-aware, slightly unhinged, and aggressively St. Louis, congratulations — you've found your people.Whether you came for the comedy podcast vibes, the weird news, the Bruce discourse, or just needed a break from reality for a couple hours, this daily podcast delivers the kind of nonsense that only The Rizzuto Show can produce. And seriously… Bruce Wayne might actually have a case.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This week on The Rotten Horror Picture Show Podcast, Clay and Amanda take on Death Becomes Her (1992)—the glossy, macabre comedy from Robert Zemeckis that turns vanity, immortality, and Hollywood rivalry into a deliciously twisted spectacle. Starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Willis, the film follows two women who discover a magical potion promising eternal youth… with some *very* visible side effects. Clay and Amanda break down the film's ahead-of-its-time visual effects, its biting satire of beauty culture, and why it's become such a beloved cult favorite over the years. Now, I'll be honest—I don't really see what all the fuss is about. People losing their minds over staying young forever, spending fortunes on creams, potions, treatments… for what? I've been using cans of Krylon spray paint as makeup for *years*, and I look fantastic. Smooth, even coverage. Quick application. A nice, industrial sheen that really catches the light. You ever try “Glossy Almond”? Life-changing.Sure, sometimes it flakes a little. And yes, once in a while I accidentally match my face to a patio chair. But overall? I'm holding up just fine. No need for some mysterious glowing elixir when I've got a perfectly good hardware store solution right in my garage. So while Clay and Amanda are marveling at eternal youth, crumbling bodies, and necks twisting in ways they absolutely shouldn't, I'll be sitting here thinking, “You know, a quick touch-up coat would solve a lot of these problems.” Hole in your side? Spray it. Cracked skin? Spray it. Confidence issues? Definitely spray it.Anyway, tune in for a lively discussion of Death Becomes Her. And remember: beauty is only skin deep… but a second coat never hurts. And be sure to head over to Patreon.com/thepenskyfile to follow Clay and Amanda as they dive into horror franchise sequels, and don't miss out on the special Patreon-only episode recorded at the Stanley Hotel in June!

[School of Movies 2026] Robert Rodriguez reaches his masterpiece. This film is truly magnificent as an adaptation of cinema to the aesthetics and hallmarks of this particular pitch black graphic novel series. It seems like every element combined in swift, smooth and effortlessly striking fashion as this sleazy, stark crime opera anthology drew on every skill Robert had learned over the 90s and somehow focused all of his haphazard digital work into one infinitely sharp point. The flourishes of colour and thundering automobiles hypnotising us like deer in the darkness of a snowy woodland road. It was also blessed with an astonishing cast; Mickey Rourke making a comeback that would lead him to The Wrestler (2008), Bruce Willis in one of his last great performances, Clive Owen at his snarling hungriest, Rosario Dawson setting the screen on fire, Benicio Del Toro as a powder-keg of entitled misogyny, Michael Clarke Duncan delivering a captivating Terminator-Bear hybrid, Rutger Hauer, Powers Booth and Nick Stahl as the most detestable richly-connected psychopath villains imaginable, and even little Elijah Wood chilling our blood by playing a sprightly cannibal who neither talks nor blinks. Bringing in Frank Miller himself and crediting him as co-director while humbly taking the mantle of the man who ‘Shoots and Cuts', Robert was able to make this feel extraordinary in a way its imitators, including Zack Snyder's 300 (2006) and Watchmen (2009), Frank Miller's own The Spirit (2008) and even Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For (2014) could not possibly match. And folks supporting us for five bucks on our Patreon bonus feed can, this coming weekend hear all about how that second film imploded.
