In this episode I speak to Christina Smith.Christina is an Olympic bobsledding athlete residing in Canada, who now works for The Enhanced Games. If you're not familiar with the concept of the EG…….it's set to be the Olympic Games for the next generation.Imagine the Olympics, but without drug testing. Imagine having a team of scientists and doctors overseeing everything in the name of science and research.Well you don't have to imagine, because it's coming! This isn't just an idea thought up in a bedroom, it's backed by a number of wealthy investors and is set to be the ‘formula one' of sport.Rather than have strict regulations on athletes supplementing with performance enhancing substances. The EG has a science based approach. They're allowing athletes to use anything they want to aid them in recovery and performance. Whilst at the same time providing them with medical supervision and conducting research on them.It sounds wild……and it is, but this conversation wasn't so much about the prevalence of drug use in professional sport (which is around 44% apparently) but rather it highlights that in a world of testing, the enhanced games can be at the forefront of scientific research and help push athletes to new levels.I know this will divide opinions on what is morally right, but hear them out. You might be surprised by some of the logic in what they are trying to do.URS

Many Real Estate experts projected that the mortgage interest rates would increase sometime in 2022. This increase would inherently cause a shift in the real estate market. Last month, the interest rates did increase sooner than expected to the 5% range, a point higher than projected. Now that the market SHIFT is here what should buyers and sellers expect? How does this affect the real estate market in San Diego? What is the best way to manuever during this shift? Join us June 10th as Christina Smith and I share our experiences in this changing market. We will also provide ways to succeed during the market shift, whether you are a buyer or seller. Mark your calendars June 10, 2022 at 12:30pm PST LIVE on facebook, Transformation Talk Radio.

This week, we want to know... where are all of the heroes? Christina Smith submitted this week's topic, asking what our generation views as a hero, and who are our heroes? It's an interesting topic the raises another question... are there any heroes left? And is our society willing to let someone become a hero?We begin by naming the heroes that inspire us, and how that compares to those in our generation. We start off by naming a lot of who you'd expect - First responders, community leaders, and those who give back to make the world a better place. But we also discuss how those who inspire us through the arts, TV, film, and more, are just as worthy of being labeled a hero. Why? Because they influence people like us to be the best versions of ourselves. How that compares to what society views as a hero is discretionary, but it certainly seems that social media, once again, plays a big influence, with "influencers" being put on a pedestal. The irony: the very thing that builds them up is what tears them down. Which brings us to our final question... will we allow society to build up another hero? Regardless of your feelings toward it, cancel culture plays a big role in our society, meaning new heroes certainly seem unlikely. So who is out there to lead the next generation? We discuss, and a whole lot more. Let's get into it! Follow us:FacebookInstagramYouTubeOfficial WebsiteEmail us: TheCatchupCast@Gmail.comSupport the show (https://www.nosignalrocks.com/the-catchup-podcast/)

And we're going to be exploring both the shine and the shadows today. ~ Christina Smith is a female warrior who's been to battle and has the scars to prove it! She knows what it's like to be in the trenches of hopeless despair, injured, afraid and defeated, to ultimately emerge determined, enlightened and victorious. Christina is one of the world's pioneers in women's bobsleigh and Canada's premier bobsleigh driver to compete at the inaugural Olympic Winter Games in 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. A native Quebecer, she currently resides in Calgary, Alberta Canada. Formally retired from World Class sports, she is a two-time author, speaker, emotional intelligence coach/consultant. Christina Smith is also an avid world traveler having been to 50 countries so far. She excels in networking and connecting people in business and personal ventures. Christina is a big-picture creative thinker, positive change agent and lives from her core values of serving the greater good. She has spent her life cultivating a conscious mindset and has both intuitively and academically developed the critical soft skills of emotional intelligence. This is what has enabled her to create a bold, brave, self-directed life, rooted in persistence, risk taking and courage. Olympic and World Class achievements aside, Christina believes that we all have equal opportunity to elevate our self-awareness. Equal opportunity to identify what needs to change, acceptance of change, and then taking action and setting the intention to commit to change. Christina is a sought-after public speaker, and television and radio media personality who does not claim to have all the answers. She will shed light on opportunities that exist despite the circumstances in life and share with you how she has maneuvered the course of time. Christina is a perpetual student, multilingual and a 2016 academic scholar from the Russian International Olympic University, Sochi, Russia, achieving a master's degree in Sports Administration, and a post-graduate in Olympic studies from the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece in 2017. Taking a Stand Introducing Christina Smith of The Redwoods Group Sometimes the course of events in life offers you an opportunity to take a stand for what is right and just. This week's Boiling Point guest knows all about this. Christina Smith is a consultant with the Redwoods Group and a B Corp MVP. Redwoods is a socially responsible insurance company, which works with youth serving organizations such as the YMCA and Boys and Girls Clubs to insure against and prevent things like child sexual abuse and drowning. What sets Redwoods apart is they are a B Corporation that provides amazing training and when terrible incidents occur their team really tries to help healing and prevent any future occurrences. Christina has a real passion for B Corps, so much so that she took a leading role to see B Lab's annual Champions Retreat come to her home state of North Carolina. She organized the socially responsible businesses in her community and their efforts paid off when the Champions retreat was scheduled to come to N.C. this year. However, after the retreat was rewarded to N.C., its government made an unfortunate decision to pass a discriminatory law. The Bathroom Bill was passed which meant that no municipality could pass laws prohibiting the discrimination in public places based on sexual orientation or gender identity. This essentially forced any transgendered individual to use the bathroom of the biological sex as listed on their birth certificate. This decision put B Labs in a very difficult place; how could they have a gathering of socially responsible businesses in a place that just passed such a discriminatory law? Some argued that by having the event in North Carolina they could bring attention to the issue and protest against the law. Would the Selma civil rights march be as effective if it happened anywhere else? However, many in the B community didn't feel safe entering a place that showed such hostility towards LGTBQ individuals. Find out what happened and about the power of business for good in this episode of the Boiling Point   In this episode We hear how Greg and Christina met at Portland, Oregon's B Champions Retreat. Christina lets us in on the great work being done by the Redwoods Group to protect children. We also hear how Christina got wrapped up in the B Corp movement. Greg discusses a potential documentary he is working on. Christina tells us about how she organized a movement and was rewarded by having the B Champions Retreat awarded to North Carolina. She also talks about the debate that raged within the B community as to what approach they should take. We learn about the fallout of North Carolina's law and how businesses are fighting back by taking away their money, jobs, and events that could cost the state billions of dollars. Greg is inspired by how business can “flex its muscle” for justice and the ripples it can create. Dave is inspired by Christina's passion and inspired to make his own company a B Corp.   Links - Christina on Linked In - Christina on Twitter - The Redwoods Group - B Corporation Website - B Impact Assessment - B Champions Retreat - Information on North Carolina's Bathroom Bill Learn more about your ad choices. Well, not exactly, but Christina Smith and Andrea Ortado do provide us with much to consider when we go on this hypothetical journey to find your “desert island” camera. Would it be full frame or film, have interchangeable lenses (but which one lens), would it be rugged and waterproof, be blazing fast or ultra-high resolution?
