Due to the amount of time and effort I save doing virtual consults versus in-person consults, I would literally do virtual consults for nothing—and still be way farther ahead financially. But you can bill and collect just as much for virtual consults as you do for in-person consults. How does that work? On this episode of Dentist Brian Candy, we continue our series on JetVC.ai, discussing billing and the financial implications of doing virtual consults. I share where to find the billing codes for virtual consults and explain why you CAN charge for the virtual consult but CAN'T charge for digital onboarding. This week, Dan Neumann is joined by Christine Bush, an experienced Agile consultant, sharing how she got where she is on her Agile journey. This episode is dedicated to those who might be new in the Agility field and are looking for guidance and inspiration to persist in moving forward on this continuous learning journey that the enables Agility. Listen to Christine's testimony about a Special Education Teacher and Agile expert, who applies and combines her training to assist organizations following Agile principles. Key Takeaways Where did Christine start? Her education started in history and political science, but then turned toward the field of special education, where she spent almost five years. Special education requires teachers to build specific curriculums adapted to each student's needs. These skills are helpful now in Agile, while she helps clients achieve their particular goals. The reasons Christine turned her attention to a technology-related field: Writing a grant showed how passionate she felt about “management” tasks. During her time in special education, she researched, learned, and taught others about brand-new computer software. Christine started working for a Software Company. Joined the PMI Obtained her PMP Later, she got her PMI-ACP. Christine began her education on the Agile ways where she met all kinds of different professionals shifting to Agile. Willing to try on different roles What overlaps did Christine see between special education and a more technology-oriented environment? The common points among these fields were: - Implemented robust frameworks. - Research-based studies are in both fields' foundations. - Maslow's hierarchy of needs. - Problem-solving in general. - Collaboration and communication. - Coaching a Team. How is coaching similar in Special education and the Agile methodology? Coaching is done in different parts of the organization. Coaching is helping others grow; students or organizations. People enjoy down-to-earth examples that coaches give to define abstract concepts. Students of all ages love activities. I've never felt like I've had style. Honestly, I've always felt a little intimidated and lost when it comes to fashion. With that in mind, I didn't put a lot of emphasis on it. I opted for safe and affordable options versus clothes that I felt comfortable and confident in. I don't think that's entirely the wrong perspective. Personal style isn't something that everyone cares about but I do want to make a case for it.For better or worse, your outward appearance does say something about you. It impacts first expressions and is an extension of your personality. Most importantly, it impacts how you feel about yourself. The right piece of clothes at the right moment can help me break out of my shyness, feel more confident, and channel the energy I want to display. All of this is especially true when it comes to dressing for work, a place where first impressions, outward appearance, charisma, and confidence play a huge part in success and career growth. So let's say you decided this is important and you want to put some focus on it, how do you go about finding your personal style? Well, I don't have the answer for you but Parke Ballantine does. They are a creative director, fashion stylist, and model. I met Parke through my girlfriend Gaby after they did a stunning photoshoot together and luckily they were nice enough to share some fashion advice with us.In this conversation, we talk about how to get started if you just aren't sure what your personal style is. Parke shares styling tips like the rule of thirds, how to incorporate color, and how to be fashion-forward when it's hot outside. We also have an important conversation about the balance of sustainability and affordability.Key Takeaways:Where to start if you aren't sure what your personal style isApplying the rule of thirds to fashionHow to incorporate color into your wardrobeHow to use accessories as your statement piecesHow to be fashion-forward in the summer heatBalancing sustainability, affordability, and being fashion-forwardWhere to donate or swap your clothesThe power of peopleMore of Parke:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/parke.ballantine/More of The Struggle is Real:Find show notes and more at https://www.tsirpodcast.com/Follow us on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/tsirpod/
In today's episode, Tim and Randy discuss the concept of an internal thermostat and its relation to personal beliefs and success.Everyone has an internal thermostat set to what they believe they deserve or what's possible in their business.Just like an air conditioner thermostat in a room kicks on and cools back a room back down to the set temperature, people may experience temporary success or improvement in their lives but eventually return to their old habits and comfort zones because their internal thermostat is set to a certain level. Most gym owners have their internal thermostats set too low. They don't believe they can achieve greater success in their business. The first step to overcoming such limiting beliefs is surrounding yourself with people who elevate your belief system, mindset, and possibilities.Feel like you need a new thermostat?Tune in to this episode for real-life examples of what's possible in your gym business!Key Takeaways- Where's your thermostat set? Wendy Nash coaches people with meditation. She joined me to share how to make meditation part of your daily practice. Her approach is beautifully aligned with the reflection that is intrinsic to lean thinking and can help us develop our “respect for people” mindset. One note: We had some internet challenges as we were recording this podcast, and you might notice a little interference. Let's hear what Wendy has to say. Wendy Nash Wendy Nash holds a four-year somatic psychotherapy degree. She has been practicing loving-kindness and other meditations for about 20 years, and her honors thesis for her Bachelor of Psychology examined the impact of loving-kindness meditation on prosocial behavior. These guide her interactions with customers who are eager to learn how to incorporate different types of meditation practices into their daily lives. Her relationships and well-being have greatly benefited from these accomplishments and experiences, which have far outweighed the negative effects of her traumatic early experiences. Like many people, she hasn't had an easy ride. She had to deal with difficulties in her personal life, like a death in the family and a divorce. Her main objective has been to look after herself, which has helped her avoid becoming a burden to others. She is prepared for every scenario, which helps her remain composed even in the most stressful conditions. KEY TOPICS IN THIS PODCAST 0:02:41 Aboriginal wisdom and the modern world 0:06:29 The impact of meditation on daily life 0:10:23 The power of positive thinking: how kindness can create connections 0:18:33 The power of appreciation in the workplace 0:22:41 The wisdom of Confucianism and Buddhism 0:27:57 Buddhist teachings on respecting others 0:29:46 The impact of childhood trauma on adult relationships 0:31:46 Wendy's journey to understanding racism and white privilege 0:40:28 The impact of colonization on indigenous peoples 0:45:50 The importance of compassion in everyday life KEY TAKEAWAYS Where are we from is a highly complex question Knowing where are you going, knowing who you are and where you come from are keys to future success. Wendy recommends reading positive news first thing in the morning as it is so easy to be drawn to and absorb oneself in negative news. Too much expectation can drive us crazy. The most important aspect of developing is to do small things and expect small returns. Feedback should not be taken personally. The best way to start your day is to look for a small act of kindness and love. Two of the most important principles in a good work relationship, are being appreciated and understanding how your work positively contributes to the company. Having two or multiple perspectives about one certain situation will help us to learn and develop beyond our measurements. In this episode, The Annuity Man and Martin Parlato discuss: Where is inflation Cryptocurrency is a joke How to fix the supply chain What should the government be doing? Key Takeaways: Where can you see inflation personally affecting your life? Does inflation impact you, or are you just listening to the media too much? The real problem is the huge supply chain issue made worse by the government incentivizing unemployment. Cryptocurrency isn't going to save the economy. In fact, when the autopsy is done, you might even find that crypto has a lot to do with it. The supply chain issue has a simple solution: to get people to work again. People need to make more of everything that we consume. The smart thing for the government is to stimulate our economy, foster full employment, and try to build up control of industries. They have to stop making decisions that will cause the country to self-destruct. "The supply chain is broken. For you to just be in business, you have to think. This is why so many successful entrepreneurs have intentional “thinking time” scheduled into the calendars so that they can think about the different sorts of problems happening, and find solutions to them. Gabe, Ryan, and Jon talk about how they structure their thinking time in their very busy lives! Key Takeaways: Where in the world is Jon right now? The guys are doing a live show for the very first time! Gabe has the most “thinking time” out of anybody. Ryan lives an “organized chaos” life and it’s hard to find thinking time for himself. Ryan feels like it’ll be more productive if he took a vacation to “think.” How does Ryan manage his productivity? Jon shares some of his productivity tips. Thinking time is so important, it helps make things in your life more efficient. Successful billionaires have “thinking time” scheduled in their calendars. Ryan is constantly “on” and gets a bit of slack for it, but he loves to think about business. How did Jon get out of the work grind and into doing his own thing? It’s hard to be a business owner and not think. Resources: Freedomblueprintshow.com The Wealthy Gardener: Lessons on Prosperity Between Father and Son, by John Soforic

Get ready for THE TRUE NORTH COLLECTIVE℠ PODCAST: SEASON 4! With co-hosts Rachel Bellotti (she/her) and Jenell Riesner (she/her), this is a gathering of un-sugar-coated conversations celebrating the untold stories of everyday people fearlessly finding and living their true north. In our own search to discover and live from our TRUE NORTH, we continue to meet many interesting, courageous people from all walks of life, doing all sorts of amazing things to live life in their own unique way. Stories from all over the world. Stories with heart. Stories with grit. Stories with plot twists. Stories going untold - until now. This season, we continue to celebrate these untold stories of everyday people who are fearlessly living their true north and inspiring each of us to do the same. Today, we take a minute to catch up with just Jenell + Rachel to hear where they’re at with their own journeys. A huge passion behind the TRUE NORTH COLLECTIVE has always been to be in the process of figuring out what it means to be true to ourselves, right alongside each of you. We certainly don’t have all the answers. We might have more data than we did four years ago, but we realize that being our true selves is an ongoing commitment, a lifestyle choice, and a lifelong practice. So, in this slightly shorter episode, we jump right into the middle of a convo that we were having (without the intention to record) and realized that we should be recording it because it was real, raw, in-the-moment, unplanned, and honest. We talk about learning to trust ourselves, NOT hiding behind people, owning the parts of ourselves that we’re ashamed of, conviction + sincerity, not being in a rush, control and self-compassion. We hope this episode reminds you that you are not alone in this and that the journey is life, so dive in and see where it takes you. *note: this episode includes explicit language appropriate for those ages 16+ RESOURCES MENTIONED: #amplifymelanatedvoices @jianpablico #amplifymelanatedvoices @transparentandblack #amplifymelanatedvoices @kierandthem Music from: https://www.jukedeck.com/ 3 KEY TAKEAWAYS: Where in your life are you looking for permission from others to do what you know in your heart it’s time for? Can you just trust yourself? What would it look like if you DID trust yourself? What would a person who trusts themselves do? What small things can you start to do each day to build up your trust muscle in yourself, until you are able to trust yourself with bigger choices? Start small if you have to, but never give up on trusting in yourself to know what’s best for you. Let’s normalize the reality of what it means to actually find + be yourself. It seems so obvious + easy at the surface, but really it’s confusing + uncertain + messy + backwards + beautiful + rejecting + annoying + frustrating + so much more. And yet we only talk about the shiny parts of it, which is such a disservice to all of us because then we chase some false reality of what it means to be true to yourself. Let’s give ourselves permission to have the journey of being true to yourself be whatever it looks like for you. And to know that whatever it looks like is probably more normal than you realize because we haven’t done a great job of being honest about how non-linear the path with oneself actually is. Sometimes we don’t need another book or concept or tool, we just need to go live life and experience shit for ourselves. To gather our own proof and data and understanding. So we can know for ourselves, first-hand, experientially. Because no wisdom is as impactful as the wisdom within us and our lived experience. Today, we’re excited to give you a teaser of what’s to come in Season 4 on THE TRUE NORTH COLLECTIVE - for the podcast, for the community, for the year! We’re gonna shake some things up, introduce some new elements and we cannot wait to share it all with you here, first. We of course will be continuing to have amazing conversations with rad, everyday humxns who are fearlessly living their TRUE NORTH each week, and we are going to start to expand these conversations beyond just the podcast so that more people can inspire each other with their real, raw journeys, beyond just the platform of listening to this podcast. We talk about stewardship vs forcing outcomes, transition years, building community, celebrating the WIP (work-in-progress), intention setting and new workshops for 2021. Can’t wait to continue this journey with each of you - happy new year! *note: this episode includes explicit language appropriate for those ages 16+ RESOURCES MENTIONED: #amplifymelanatedvoices @sonyareneetaylor #amplifymelanatedvoices @kierandthem Music from: https://www.jukedeck.com/ 3 KEY TAKEAWAYS: Where can you allow a project you're working on, or a situation in your life, to unfold with you vs forcing it? Sometimes we try to over-control things and push things to where we want them to be vs allowing them to be what they are, which is a big disservice to the thing and to ourselves. What if instead, we allowed the project to tell us what it is ready for? What if we spent some time listening to where it wants to go vs trying to force it where we think it should go? What if we were stewards of a thing vs trying to master it into submission of our vision? The power of community is such a key part of becoming who you are. As we invite people into spaces to be who they truly are, we also invite ourselves in to show up as the realest version of ourselves. Being able to see just how similar we are and normalizing the process of being and becoming more of oneself is so much more fun alongside other fellow travelers. We highly recommend finding community support who can witness and walk alongside you as you live this life. And if you need a community, you are ALWAYS welcome here, just as you are.

Are you struggling with environmental allergies? Find out some of the natural ways that you can treat them. You can find all the info and links about this episode at https://holisticwellness.ca/episode113 Topics Discussed in this Episode: The link between hormones and histamine intolerance The pollen apocalypse The 411 on histamine Seasonal allergies Some common allergy symptoms and their underlying causes The side-effects of over-the-counter antihistamines What to avoid and what to include in your diet during allergy season Key Takeaways: Where you might be in your menstrual cycle and having elevated estrogen levels during your menstrual cycle can induce a histamine release in your body. There have been increases in pollen counts in the environment as one of the effects of climate change, and experts predict that allergies will get worse in the next three to five years. Histamine is a chemical compound that’s very important in our immune system and plays a vital role in the inflammation that occurs in the body. The severity of symptoms of allergic rhinitis can vary widely from season to season and can impact your day-to-day life. Your risk of suffering from seasonal allergy symptoms dramatically increases if you have an underlying medical condition, unmanaged stress, and pregnancy. Allergies are considered disorders of the immune system. The body is over-reacting to harmless substances and produces these antibodies to attack the substance, which is what is causing your symptoms. Acupuncture can reduce the symptoms associated with seasonal allergies without any side-effects. Action Steps: If you’re spending a lot of time outdoors and you know you’re reacting to pollen, make sure that you take a shower once you get home. If you have pets that have spent time outside the house, hose them down or wipe them down as well. Avoid the following foods that can aggravate your allergic symptoms: Alcohol Caffeine Conventional dairy Chocolate Peanuts Sugar Artificial sweeteners Processed foods Melons Bananas Cucumbers Sunflower seeds Shellfish Bottled citrus juice Echinacea Camomile Wheat Soy Dried fruits Include the following foods in your diet during allergy season: Raw, local honey Hot and spicy foods like cinnamon, cayenne, cayenne pepper, ginger, onion, garlic, etc. Bone broth Probiotic-rich foods like kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut, kimchi, and raw cheese and other raw organic dairy products Pineapple Apple cider vinegar Swiss chard Carrots Yams Beets Cabbage Wild-caught salmon Good quality poultry Organic grass-fed beef and lamb Fresh herbs and spices Dried herbs Horseradish Take supplements that will help to fight allergies: Spirulina Quercetin Butterbur Probiotics Vitamine A Bromelain Zinc Stinging nettle Use a Neti pot to relieve nasal congestion and flush out mucus. Use essential oils. Get acupuncture. Stay hydrated. Shower before bed. Wash your clothes and your bedding frequently. Consider replacing your carpets at home. Declutter. Samantha said: “Not all individuals have a heightened sensitivity or an allergic reaction to all pollens so it’s important to pay attention and recognize what really is triggering your allergies and the time of year they’re showing up.” “A strong immune system is key to fighting seasonal allergies, and as we know, your immune system lives in your gut, which is why it’s so important to be supporting your gut health and your microbiome.” Thanks for listening! In our second episode, Transactional Partner Rachel Graham and Director of Client Services Amy Roost discuss the options available to directors and shareholders when a BVI company has reached the end of its useful life, with a particular focus on the on-going annual reporting obligations under the economic substance regime. Key Takeaways: Where an entity is no longer required there are two options available: first is solvent liquidation, a formal process to wind up and dissolve the company, bringing it to an orderly end; second is to allow the company to fall out of good standing and be struck off the register and eventually dissolved some 7 years later. Liquidation: This formal but straight-forward process brings the company to an orderly end. It brings formal closure and much greater certainty as well as mitigating risk for directors, shareholders and other stakeholders. In many cases, where the company has already disposed of its assets and settled all its liabilities, the entire liquidation process can be completed within four to six weeks. Once a company which has been voluntarily liquidated and dissolved, it no longer exists and can no longer incur liabilities or sue or be sued. The date of dissolution is significant, however, since the company will continue to have reporting obligations under the economic substance regime, for the financial period that the entity is in at the time of its liquidation. Strike off: For decades it has been the norm to leave entities that are no longer required to be struck off. Strike off is automatic, when an entity no longer meets certain requirements eg not paying its annual licence fee. A company remains struck off for 7 years before it is formally dissolved and during that period the company, as well as its directors and shareholders, are exposed to ongoing risk of liability and uncertainty. The risk and uncertainty is increased with the introduction of ongoing reporting obligations under the economic substance regime, which continues to apply during this 7 year period, even if the struck off company is not carrying on any activity.Fines and penalties for non-reporting under the economic substance regimePotential penalties are severe with significant financial and criminal actions available to the competent authorities. Conclusion: Where an entity is no longer required, directors (and shareholders) of BVI companies are strongly advised to consider liquidating the company rather than allowing the company to be struck off. Entities may wish to consider seeking further legal advice to go over their options, and the ongoing implications. Stay tuned for more episodes of Practically Speaking.
In this episode, Neal and Greg continue to talk to Dave about the ongoing process of his church plant in Vilonia, Arkansas. They discuss practical ways to train your core group on how to engage in the community, and what that might look like for each member of the group. They also dive into the importance of engaging the community you’re planting your church in because, without engagement, there will be no church. Questions Discussed: What is community engagement? What are expectations you have, as a planter, for your core group in engaging the community? How do you train your group to have community engagement? What does the plan look like for them to kind of follow? Do you have any unsaved members in your group, and is that a good or bad thing? What is your goal for each one of your core group members? Key Takeaways: Where do you go to find lost people? That’s an important question when engaging a community because if you don’t have a regular place in which you can talk to and get to know lost people, it’s going to be hard to plant and grow a church anywhere. You aren’t planning a service, you’re planting a church. Getting to know your community and making connections is more important than your big Sunday launch service. Interdisciplinary Artist Elisa JimenezThis episode features my interview with Elisa Victoria Jimenez – one of the most unique human beings I’ve ever met. I interviewed Elisa in New York in late 2019. My daughter, Danielle, worked with her as part of her internship with the New York Arts Program. A solo entrepreneur for more than 25 years, Elisa Jimenez decided at the age of 15 that her life would be her greatest work of art. She's interested in the relationship between art, life and humanity. If you follow fashion - you might recognize Jimenez from her work with celebrity clients like Cher, Courtney Love, Sarah Jessica Parker, Serena Williams and more. She makes spontaneous… on-the-spot couture, sewing with monofilament or fishing line. Over the years, her designs have graced the pages of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Elle. Elisa is also a Project Runway alum. Her creative roots run deep - she’s the daughter of famed designer and fine artist Vicky Balcou and the late internationally known sculptor Luis Jimenez. Key Takeaways· Where you spend your money matters.· Change is the only constant.· Learn about business and then you tweak it so it’s socially relevant. · Empathy is a lost art. “Keep change as your best friend, Elisa, and the unknown as your constant lover. If you know this about life, you will be better for it.” – Words of wisdom from mother Vicky Balcou to daughter Elisa Jimenez. These days, Sabri Suby reigns supreme as the founder of King Kong, Australia’s fastest-growing digital marketing agency. But he’s come a long way since his first job, selling ink cartridges over the phone, which he describes as a “cold, hard slap to the face.” “I sucked incredibly badly at doing that in the beginning,” he says. Soon enough, thanks to mastering the art of sales and persuasion, he became the top producer in that role, went on to travel the world, and eventually, forged his path as an entrepreneur. For all of his companies, he realized he was asking the same fundamental question: “How do we get more customers?” His obsession with answering that question has helped him perfect his selling skills and scale King Kong from zero to $10 million in annual revenue in just four years. In his latest book, Sell Like Crazy, Suby reveals the selling system he’s created and honed over the years, including things like the Magic Lantern Technique and the Halo Strategy. He says he’s deployed this system in more than 167 different niches and markets—and it’s worked every time. With Sell Like Crazy, he shares the steps you need to take, regardless of what stage you’re in, to level up your business. Alex shares why he is building up his cash reserves and getting smarter with his money. As everyone knows, real estate has cycles and the last thing you want to do is be thrown in with the sharks when the market turns. Key Takeaways: Where are we in the real estate cycle right now? Don't try to time the market. Get smart with your cash and build up reserves, so that you don't get hurt when the market turns. The market will correct itself, it's just a matter of ‘when.' Always build relationships with lenders and potential JV partners. Know your market and be careful with the types of rehabs you're getting into. Make sure you're paying yourself first. Amazon keeps 3% of their market cap in cash reserves. NVR Inc. keeps about 20% of their worth in cash. If you have a risky business model, you should have more cash reserves on hand. Sunni Boehme was 30-years-old when she survived a life-threatening car accident. It was so intense that she had an out-of-body experience. When she finally came to, she realized she’s never taken a real vacation before — never sat on a city bus or a train — and by that point, she had only been on a plane once in her life. This immediately had to change. She went to Europe solo with no plans other than a monthly budget of $1,000. The experience completely transformed her and how she saw life after that. She came back to the U.S. with no money left and started a completely new career path. Key Takeaways: *Where was Sunni in her life when she decided it was time to go solo? *Sunni had an out-of-body experience from a car accident that nearly killed her. *Even though Sunni was 30 years old, she had never been on a city bus and a train in her life. By that point, she had only been on a plane once — it was for work — and she had only taken one vacation in her adult life (where she didn’t even leave the state). *How did Sunni discover her spirituality? *We all have multiple versions of the same story. We can react negatively to it or we can be proactive with our stories. *Trust your intuition! Do not ignore your instincts. *Sunni and her husband had a long discussion after the car accident. Sunni said to him that she had to go to Europe. He had his own life journey to go through and Europe wasn’t in that picture. So, they went and got a divorce for $350, sold the house, and left it at that! *After selling the house, Sunni had $30,000 and she got her banker to wire her $1,000 a month to London while she traveled throughout Europe. *Sunni shares some of the fun adventurers a recently divorced woman can get into while traveling solo! *When Sunni only had $500 to her name, she bought a plane ticket back to the U.S. and started her life over. *Sunni talks about her book, Mirror, Mirror and where you can find her! Rachel Archelaus did not come from a household that openly welcomed wanderlust, but she has always wanted to see the world. In fact, she chose a location-independent career so that she can always pick up and go if she wants to. Despite being afraid of heights as well as hills, Rachel bought a camper van so that she could travel solo throughout the U.S. while promoting her book, Intuitive Art. On the show, Rachel discusses what that experience was like and how that experience has transformed her. Key Takeaways: *Where is Rachel right now and what brought her there? *How did Rachel’s parents support her wanderlust when she was growing up? *New York City was a very grimy place in the 60s and the 70s and it wasn’t a great place to grow up, which is why Rachel’s parents had their reservations about her traveling. *What was it like taking a solo trip to Europe? *There are no rules as to how you should behave, that’s what Rachel learned the most on her trip to Europe. We don’t have to be so uptight and rigid with ‘our way of being.’ *Aside from Europe, what’s been the most recent adventure Rachel has been on? *Rachel bought a van and is now doing a book tour in it! What’s Rachel’s book about? *What were some of Rachel’s safety concerns while driving the van? How did she prepare? *How did Rachel plan her route? *Before traveling in her van, Rachel had never taken a road trip for more than 12 hours. *Not everything went right on Rachel’s trip, either, but she loved the experience of being alone. *What went wrong while Rachel was traveling in the camper van? *Rachel found her ideal lifestyle. By living in her van, she is able to camp out anywhere she wants and she can also visit friends and family without being a burden to them! *Rachel is now selling her house and shifting her life so that she can travel wherever she wants, making the whole ‘living in her van’ a much more permanent decision. *What’s Rachel’s next travel destination going to be? *What does Rachel do for work and how does she help her clients? So, she decided to take a two-day solo backpacking trip. *At first, Susan was very worried about her safety from another person, not an animal. *Susan ended up getting (slightly) lost in the middle of nowhere, and she began doubting herself. *It’s so healthy to be able to get away and unplug yourself from the world. *It’s important to travel with intention, but it’s just as important to travel with no expectations. Walker Thornton is a sex educator, writer, and speaker with a Masters in Educational Psychology, and she speaks extensively on midlife sexuality. This episode dives full in on what it's like being over 60 with no life partner in sight. At the end of the day, it's about the stories we tell ourselves and that can sometimes get in the way of who we truly are as people. Coming from a small town, Walker was often shamed into thinking her way of being was wrong and that her self-worth was only defined by a man. Solo travel has given Walker a new story to tell herself and a new-found acceptance of who she is. Key Takeaways: *Where was Walker in her life when she decided to travel alone? *Walker took her first trip for her 60th birthday. *There's such a stigma for women who want to travel alone. *Why did Walker choose to visit Santa Fe, New Mexico on her 60th birthday? *There is a sense of vulnerability when you travel alone. It's still there no matter how old you get. *Why did Walker travel to New York City? *Walker fell in love with the city! *As a small town girl, what made Walker have a mindset shift to travel and get out there more? *Walker was told she was 'too much' and that she was going to have a hard time finding a man if she didn't change. Lo and behold, she ended up getting a divorce and felt like she proved everyone right. *Walker feels less judged when traveling alone than in her own community. *Walker still has her mother's voice in the back of her head, pitying her for being alone. *We need to create and rediscover our own story and traveling helps us with that. *The stories we tell ourselves can sometimes get in the way of who we really are. *What kind of lessons has Walker learned through her travels? *I get to live too! I get to live a great life, too! *Selfish = Self-care. It is time for you to be selfish for what you want. *There's a double standard towards adventurous men vs. adventurous women *What advice would Walker give other women considering solo travel? *Where is Walker traveling to next? *Walker has been writing and working in the field of sexuality for the last 5 years. *You have to embrace who you are. *Instead of resisting it, accept who you are.
