This makes for an intriguing conversation as André and him engage in a deep dive into various topics. The discussion revolves around their viewpoints on God, religion, consciousness, and morality. They dissect the potential dangers of intellectualizing and its impact on our understanding of the world. Furthermore, they tackle an interesting question: can the study of ethics lead to an individual becoming more ethical in their actions? The Heartland Institute's Donald Kendal, Jim Lakely, Justin Haskins, and Chris Talgo present episode 436 of the In The Tank Podcast. Last week, a report by Special Counsel Robert Hur raised a lot of eyebrows. And not because it essentially let President Biden off the hook for mishandling of classified documents, but because the report described him as an "elderly man with a poor memory." The administration's response to this characterization: let's have Biden do a press conference where Biden can prove the report correct. This entire situation has spurred a lot of speculation that the Democratic Party may be angling to sideline Biden before the general election in November.PRIMARY TOPIC - WILL BIDEN BE REPLACED IN 2024 ELECTION? The Federalist - The Reasons To Impeach Biden Keep Stacking Uphttps://thefederalist.com/2024/02/12/the-reasons-to-impeach-biden-keep-stacking-up/ The Federalist - 4 Lies Joe Biden Spouted Off In Angry Special Counsel Press Conferencehttps://thefederalist.com/2024/02/09/4-lies-joe-biden-spouted-off-in-angry-special-counsel-press-conference/ The Hill - Jill Biden asked why aides didn't stop president's press conference in 2022: Bookhttps://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4458057-jill-biden-asked-why-aides-didnt-stop-presidents-press-conference-in-2022-book/ Politico - Biden sits out Super Bowl interview for a second timehttps://www.politico.com/news/2024/02/03/biden-super-bowl-interview-00139473 Politico - Democrats Might Need a Plan B. He's sharing insights about what it looks like to implement new systems and processes within a services-oriented workplace culture.Key things discussed How to juggle objectives in a fluid, client-centric environment. Why prioritizing KPI results is less important than staying nimble and true to your company's big-picture OKR goals. What it takes to overcome internal resistance and secure buy-in at every level of the enterprise. The importance of making room for failure along the way, iterating OKRs that work for your specific corporate culture and needs. Where you're likely to see OKR value-add – saving time, optimizing resources, fostering communication, and boosting revenue. Show Notes [00:02:30] Origin Story: How Szymon became an OKR convert and ultimately an evangelist at his ad agency and spin-off software company. [00:04:10] Going Large: How Szymon initially went with a wholesale, up-and-down the enterprise approach to introducing OKRs – with mixed (if promising) results. [00:05:15] A Bespoke Strategy: Why internal OKR goal-setting and incremental adjustments are easier for teams to implement than going strictly by the book. [00:08:36] Juggling Key Results: Because the digital marketing world is so dynamic, it's critical to keep priorities and adaptations fluid, based on shifting metrics and solutions. [00:11:48] Customer Satisfaction: What it looks like to map OKRs as client-centered service providers, including:  Staying focused on OKRs as an internal measure of progress and results. Using KPIs, like sales revenue, unique users, or amount of features delivered on time as the measures for project success.  [00:14:25] Team Sport: Why it was important to adapt OKR strategies that worked at the board and managerial level in ways that served the development and success of individual contributors by keeping the process team-oriented. [00:16:00] Chasing Success: How Szymon positions KPIs like revenue relative to influencing OKRs as a byproduct rather than a hyper-focus dominating overall OKRs.  [00:18:35] Thumbs Up: Even though the process can be time-consuming and requires resources, Szymon believes OKRs offer consulting businesses tremendous upsides. [00:20:35] Overcoming Resistance: How modeling commitment and flexibility through various iterations in OKR implementation eventually secures buy-in across teams. [00:22:49] Long-Term Champions: A look at the shift in dynamics as early adopters sometimes lose interest and early resisters come to enthusiastically embrace the metrics, enhanced communication and other benefits iterative OKRs confer.  [00:25:15] Quality Control and What It Looks Like to Measure for Success: Celebrating wins (something Szymon wants to do more frequently) Reevaluating metrics based on how easily they were met Analyzing objectives that failed for clarity and, where necessary, restating Building on what's working and optimizing through iteration Hosting company-wide post mortems to provide transparency on OKR progress [00:27:30] Before & After OKRs – and Their Net Business Impacts: Overall savings through reduction in wasted time, resources and energy Fewer, but more focused and effective initiatives at all levels of the company A clear roadmap that provides employees – especially newer hires – access to the objectives and processes that support corporate success Communication and transparency to support the execution of goals [00:30:38] Celebrating Success: About how OKRs have supported the recent integration of a new CRM system – and scores of other value-adds up and down the organization. [00:32:47] Quick-Fire Questions for Szymon: What's Your Dream With a Deadline? Matt Waldman's RSP NFL Scouting Glossary illustrates with the help of 2023 NFL Draft prospect, Kendre Miller of TCU, why overextending at the collision point as a pass protector places a running back at a disadvantage with his assignments. What Is Overextending? Pretty much what you'd expect: leaning too far forward. For pass protection, overextending happens when an offensive player has his head and shoulders over his knees. While this can be a good body alignment for a running back when he's carrying the ball, it's suboptimal for pass protection. A blocker should be in an athletic stance with the knees and hips bent and the head and shoulders high enough that they aren't leaning over the knees. A good rule of thumb for a pass protector's stance: The first two parts of the blocker's body to make contact with the opponent should be the hands and the chest in that order. If the helmet and/or the shoulders are one of the first two points of contact, it's likely the blocker is overextending. Why Is Overextending Bad for Pass Protection? When a blocker delivers a punch, he should strike first with his hands and use his hips to roll upward to help him generate force through the blow. When a blocker overextends, he's far less likely for the first point of contact to be with his hands and this diminishes his opportunity to a proper punch with enough force to stifle his opponent. Placing the head over the body leads to an open invitation for the defender to make contact with the defender's head and shoulders, which can violently upend the balance of the blocker and send him backward. Overextending leads to the defender initiating the collision and with any collision sport that has elements of combat, the individual who dictates his rhythm holds the advantage. When a blocker's position forfeits the opportunity to initiate contact, he's allowing the opponent to dictate the rhythm of the interaction. It means the blocker is now reacting to the strike while the defender is generating his second movement. When the blocker dictates his rhythm on the opponent, the defender is reacting to the strike while the blocker is beginning his second move. The inherent advantage sides with the party dictating their rhythm. Overextending also puts the blocker in a position where he can't see who he's hitting during the final phases of movement prior to the collision. When the blocker's head is down during the final steps of an opponent's approach to the collision, it tips off the blocker's position early enough for the defender to adjust his path to the quarterback. Other than eliminating the blocker's first-strike initiative, power, and accuracy, there's nothing wrong with overextending. What It Looks Like with Kendre Miller Overextending is a common flaw with running back's learning to pass protect because they think they have to deliver with everything they've got to handle box defenders or a safety screaming downhill into the pocket on a well-timed blitz. Overextending is overcompensating in an attempt to deliver with power. Running backs often think they have to deliver a hit, which means getting into a hitting stance. It's not surprising that Miller, a former linebacker, overextends. Here are two plays where Miller overextends. The first shows that Miller can deliver an uppercut punch, but the overextension limits the potential for him to dictate the action from beginning to end. https://twitter.com/MattWaldman/status/1615931522132885504 The second play shows how Miller's overextension tips off his opponent. https://twitter.com/MattWaldman/status/1615947857323778049 Miller has the size, athletic ability, and physicality to become an effective pass protector in the NFL. Learning to deliver a balanced punch is about technique, timing, and the willingness to work at it. Part of working at pass protection is utilizing what you've practiced during meaningful reps.

Matt Waldman's RSP defines how he grades focus versus contact at the catch point for NFL Draft prospects with the help of a play from Penn State Wide Receiver Parker Washington.   Football Will Always Be A Collision Sport Even if tackle football goes the way of the dodo and the game evolves into a mashup of basketball and flag football, the fundamental aspects of the game will always include bodies moving with high intensity and often in close quarters. Even if unintentional, collisions are an inevitable part of the game. Although the vast majority of collisions take place at the line of scrimmage between linemen and ball carriers, pass catchers are recipients of the most violent collisions in the sport because routes and coverage demand players to build momentum into the point of impact. Pass catchers understand the potential of being on the receiving end of a hit that feels like a car wreck any time they attack a target. The ability to concentrate on the task of completing the catch before protecting oneself from an oncoming hit is the hallmark of a receiver with the physical and mental toughness to compete in the NFL. Even when the contact isn't as violent as a collision and instead, it's a surgically-placed reach, push, or pull at the ball, hands, or arms of the receiver, a pass catcher must display focus and comfort with defender contact at the catch point. Scenarios Requiring Focus The Rookie Scouting Portfolio has four basic scenarios where a receiver must display heightened focus and physical toughness to win the football. Tight Coverage: A defender has tight coverage on a receiver when he is making contact or he is close enough to make contact or extend his hand into the frame of the receiver. Contact to the Back: When a defender can slap, push, or hit the receiver from an indirect angle away from the receiver's field of vision that lands on the receiver's side, back, or the back of his legs. Contact to the Chest: When a defender can slap, push, or hit the receiver from a direct angle within the receiver's field of vision that lands on the receiver's chest, side, or front of his legs. Hard Shots: Catching the ball against collisions with violent impact have a higher degree of difficulty than other forms of contact. The RSP gives them their own category of value relative to contact that isn't as violent. A hit with notable force from the defender is violent contact and it's generated based on a combination of factors: Momentum heading into the collision point. An accurate strike that hits the opponent as intended. A strike hits through the target point of the opponent's body and not just onto the target. How the receiver or ballcarrier reacts to the hit doesn't define whether the hit is violent. We've seen ballcarriers bounce off violent hits as if they weren't violent at all. Matt Waldman defines the basics of Transitions in this edition of the RSP NFL Scouting Glossary with the help of a play from Iowa State NFL Draft Prospect, WR Xavier Hutchinson. What Are Transitions? Transitions are the techniques used to change from pass catcher to ball carrier. Effective transitions get receivers downhill in a hurry and help them maximize yardage. Offenses that employ a lot of pass patterns with receivers moving across the field after the break rely heavily on the receiver to execute good transitions. Teams that feature a lot of these patterns in their scheme drafted these receivers for their skills in the open field. Receivers who don't transition effectively aren't optimizing the intent of the pattern, the timing of the target, or the quarterback's placement of the ball relative to the coverage. Even when receivers are running patterns with breaks that terminate with a turn back the quarterback against tight coverage, an effective transition can create space that isn't there at the catch point. There are two simple and valuable rules for effective transitions that help receivers optimize their transition from a pass catcher to a ballcarrier. The Basic Techniques of Transitions Catch and Pierce: Getting downhill as fast as possible. Snap turns north-south. Limit unnecessary steps and make the turn tight and immediate. Accelerate through and out of the turn. When possible, use optimal pad level and body lean to anticipate contact and maximize gains through collisions. Tight ball security. Obey the Ball: The receiver turns downhill in the direction where the target leads them. The premise is to trust that the quarterback is acting as the receiver's eyes and placing the ball in the optimal position. The exception to this premise: When the receiver is aware of the position of the coverage relative to the break and it requires a turn away from the target's placement. Even when the target isn't accurate and leads the receiver into potential contact that the receiver couldn't anticipate prior to the break, a tight catch and pierce can mitigate contact if not avoid it altogether. Matt Waldman defines the basic concepts of route running against zone coverage in this edition of the RSP NFL Scouting Glossary with the help of a play from North Carolina NFL Draft Prospect, WR Josh Downs. Zone Routes Are A Different Animal Most conversations about route-running are devoted to beating defenders playing one-on-one against a receiver. Zone coverage is a significant part of defensive football and there's more to it than simply finding an open spot. Receivers have to see the coverage the same as their quarterback. They also have to understand how to manipulate the position of defenders to create open spots, maximize the potential space within that open area, and communicate in a timely and accurate manner to the quarterback that they are open and ready for the football. The Basic Techniques of Zone Routes Scanning the Field. Identifying the potential coverage triangles of defenders that will factor into the route. Identifying the defender in the second level of the field: A shallow safety. A dropping defensive lineman. A linebacker in the shallow or intermediate. A cornerback playing the shallow/intermediate zone. Building to Depth: Stretching the coverage to create a wide-enough hole in the zone. Widening the position of defenders with the initial path (stem) of the route. Working to an appropriate depth to force defenders playing deep to retreat or play on their heels. Throttling Down to the Appropriate Spot: Identifying when the defender is presenting favorable leverage for the receiver to make his break. Snapping the turn of the break so the change of direction and pace is sudden to maximize separation. Turning the head and chest to make a friendly target with the quarterback. Tempo the Break: Adjusting whether to throttle down to a specific spot or slowing the pace of a moving break based on the route and the position of defenders in the coverage triangle. The objective is not to run into another defender's area and give him room to undercut or cut off the target. Showing the Eyes at the Right Moment: The eyes communicate to the quarterback back when you're ready for the ball. Matt Waldman defines the basics of Stalk Blocking in this edition of the RSP NFL Scouting Glossary with the help of a play from Charlotte NFL Draft Prospect, WR Grant DuBose. What Is Stalk Blocking? When the blocking assignment calls for an offensive player detached from the formation to work toward a defender to execute the block, this is a stalk block. This method involves the receiver being the aggressor/initiator of the interaction without manipulating the defender into believing that he's running a route. The Basic Techniques of Stalk Blocking Break down in the Contact Zone. The Contact Zone is within two yards of the defender. Breaking down involves these components: A square stance: The hips and pads pointed squarely at the opponent. The feet are placed at shoulder width to generate a solid base/anchoring point during contact. The knees and hips are bent in an athletic position to solidify the base/anchoring/leverage. Maintaining the wide base by shuffling the feet. Take the air out: Earning a chest-to-chest position with the defender to maximize leverage. Don't overextend: Keeping the head and eyes up. The upper body should not be too far over the knees in an unstable stance. These body positioning points encourage a stable base for an attack or to handle contact from the opponent. Hand and arm positions: The intent is to attack the center of the opponent's gravity and maintain a stable position. Tight hands aiming for the chest plate of the opponent. Elbows bent. The punch: Some blocks don't require a punch. When they do . . . Tight hands Elbows bent Uppercut motion Rolling through the hips with an upward trajectory to generate force without overextending the frame. Running the feet after contact. Maintaining a wide base Shuffling the feet Maintaining the hands tight and in the chest of the opponent as much as possible. What if you could sell less but make a bigger profit? Sound too good to be true? Russ Ruffino, creator and founder of Clients on Demand, helps experts, coaches, consultants, and thought leaders do this very thing. In this episode of Business Lunch, Russ sits down with host Roland Frasier to talk about how he went from selling products that cost less than $10 to selling programs that cost $10,000 or more.   Russ started out in online marketing in 2011. After some affiliate marketing success, he realized the real money was in creating his own stuff. He bought everything he could afford on his bartender salary and started selling products at a really low price. It didn't take long before he decided to flip the model on its head. Instead of selling thousands of copies of something that cost $7, why not sell a handful of something that costs $7k?   The Model Is Simple Russ tried a massive experiment. He designed a funnel, found some committed folks to enroll in his program, and they got results. His income went from $20k/month to $200k/month as soon as he got it cranking. They scaled and scaled, and now they're doing around $1.7 million/month.   He says his model is simple and elegant. It's what's left when you toss out everything extreme or unnecessary. ad webinar phone call new client   They run ads on YouTube and Facebook and drive traffic into a 40-minute webinar. On the webinar, they invite people to book a call. On the call, they book them straight into their high-ticket program. And that's the same model they teach to their clients. Their program is 8 weeks long. On the back of that, they have a 1-year mastermind ($24k). Then they have a higher-level mastermind for $85k/year for people who want to go to multiple 7, 8 figures.   The vast majority of their clients are in the health space, relationship space, nutrition space, real estate space, NOT the business building space. They don't want to create their own competitors.   Their ideal customer is anyone who can solve a major life or business challenge. They have to have something to teach people and an outcome they can help people achieve. One of their clients is a handstand coach. He teaches how to do a press up to a handstand, which is the holy grail of yoga/fitness people. Russ was skeptical at first, but it's wildly popular and way more than just a handstand. There are a cascade of benefits—no back or shoulder pain for the rest of your life, literally being an inch taller—that make it well worth the high ticket.   What About Downselling and Outsourcing?  A lot of people believe you have to warm people up by starting with a low-ticket item, then move toward a high-ticket program. What are Russ's thoughts on the value ladder concept? His method works without a warm-up. He's filtering out people who aren't willing to invest and commit, and getting right to the people who are.    He might be leaving money on the table by not having a downsell, but he doesn't know what he'd even sell. He could do an information-only program without the support, but that defeats the whole purpose. It's like giving a stick of dynamite to a kid.   About 95% of their enrollments come on the first call. They have 30-35 people a day reaching out to his company, and he has 5 people on the phones full-time. They watch the webinar, then book their appointment right after.   He says he hasn't had much success with outsourcing sales. It's difficult to find someone completely aligned with their values. They only make an offer to 80% of the people they talk to. They firmly believe in only selling to people it's really going to work for. When you have an outside commissioned sales team, they're not going to abide by that. They just want to sell.    They don't work with copycats. They don't work with people whose niche is too narrow or whose market is too hard to reach. And they make a judgment call on the spot about whether or not their offer is viable.   They spend about $800k/year trying to break their sales model. They test different things, but nothing ever works better than their consultative, open method.   How to Build the Very Best Team When it comes to building a good team, Russ says you have to start with yourself. You want to be a cool person to work for. If you have trouble getting along with people, you've got to fix that.   As far as prioritizing what you should delegate, there might be two or three things you love and are absolutely brilliant at, and every moment you're not doing that, you're wasting money. You have to surrender your ego if you want to grow your company. Russ knows it's not his job to change people's lives. It's his job to build a machine that changes people's lives. When he realized that, it set him free from having to be the guy who's hand-holding every client.    On his team, he's got Facebook people, copywriting people, mindset and performing people who guide clients through self-sabotage, overwhelm, and fear. HIs team is super hands-on, teaching people how to do everything (like Facebook marketing) and doing it with them.   Is Russ afraid he'll train people who will go out and compete against him? Not really. He's upfront from the get go. Whenever he brings people on, he sits down to get a clear sense of whether they have an entrepreneurial bug or are more motivated by security. You want to find people who are brilliant at what they do but don't want the pressure of running their own business.    He's also a big believer in reminding his team about the impact they're making in people's lives—and creating space for them to shine. When a client has a win, they celebrate that win, and they celebrate everybody in the company who played a role in that win.    What It Looks Like to Be Russ If Russ didn't want to scale, his company could run on its own. Right now he spends 6 hours a week on client support, mostly with people in their highest level mastermind. He spends 3-4 hours a week meeting with his team, making sure the trains are running on time. And the rest of his time is spent scaling the company. He wants to go from $15-20 million a year to 9-figures.   How will he get there? It's all about finding additional value adds, like developing software for their clients and ramping up what they do. But he knows the importance of balancing the growth of the company with still being able to provide an amazing service.    What resources does Russ recommend for people who want to be like him? The number one book that changed his life was The 4-Hour Workweek. The chapter on fear is the best thing he's ever read. He also highly recommends Principles: Life and Work by Ray Dalio and Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender by David R. Hawkins. That one blew his mind.    If you want to find out more, book a call with Russ's team HERE. They'll dig into your business with you, put their heads together with yours, and make a plan moving forward. That one call will massively give you clarity about what you should be doing in your business.

Join us for day 21 of 30 days to embracing God's disruptions and detours; a preview of our new Bible study, The Mary Answer. Find out how you can get a free advance copy of the new study coming in January. Today's devotion is called, "When It Isn't What It Looks Like." Study with us! Day 21- When it Isn’t What It Looks Like  Read the Word: John 10:10, Gen. 3:1-7.  Read today’s scriptures and take note of anything that catches your heart. What do you observe that God might want you to single out and pray about? Write down your observations. In our community in Arizona, the main boulevard is lined with beautiful orange trees. In the spring, they produce blossoms that are so fragrant, I often just stop on my morning walk, close my eyes, and breathe in the intoxicating scent. But these trees are not real orange trees. They produce a fake fruit that is so bitter, you cannot use them for anything. They are called ornamental oranges.   It is so tempting to look at the world’s alluring definition of the abundant life and be taken in by the fragrant trappings. We’re not talking about lottery-level fairy tales here, just a nice little life: home with a doable mortgage, a couple cars, kids who don’t land in jail, a good-paying job, and a group of friends at church to hang out with. We are like Eve in the garden—taking it all in and saying, “this is good.” (Gen. 3:6) But like Eve, if we start picking and eating that fruit, we are on the path to spiritual death. How can something that looks so good be so wrong?   Jesus warns us that the path to the abundant life is contrary to the path that the world wants us to take. (John 10:10) In Romans 12:2 from The Message, Paul writes, “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”  God’s idea of abundance is not like the culture around us.   Sometimes it’s hard to spot the fake. But the spiritual fake has bitter consequences. When we allow the culture around us to dictate the definition of abundant life, we are believing a lie. And when we believe a lie, we separate ourselves from God’s best. Jesus’ definition of abundant life in John 10:10 is found only in following him. And that may include disruption.   Today, make a decision to go on a hunt for that abundant life, not the ornamental version the world is offering. Live like you’re loved.   Wait in prayer: Ask God to help you sort out what the abundant life looks like for you. Ask him if there are places in your life where you’re settling for the fake. Thank him that richly provides everything for your enjoyment.  (1 Tim. 6:17-18)  Worship: Live Like You’re Loved performed by Hawk Nelson  Links (click 'em, they're live) Live Like You're Loved performed by Hawk Nelson Sign up for your free copy of The Mary Answer and join our launch team today!
