When life feels unbearably heavy—from natural disasters to personal heartbreak—what can we even say? The Bible doesn't ignore suffering or gloss over pain. Instead, it gives voice to our sorrow. Psalm 13 offers us a path from weeping to worship, showing how honest lament can lead to deep trust in a faithful God.OutlineI. TurnII. ComplainIII. PetitionIV. Trusting PraiseSermon Discussion Questions1) When suffering strikes, where do you instinctively turn first? What are some reasons you don't turn to the Lord first?2) If you were to present some complaints to the Lord right now, what would be some of those complaints? 3) Are your prayers boldly asking God to act according to His promises? Why or why not? How specific are your requests? 4) How does suffering with the end in view change how you approach suffering? What about lament leads to trust and praise? How would this reshape your perspective?5) Read Psalm 6 and look for the different elements of lament (Turn, complain, petition, and trusting praise). Write your own lament prayer and share it with someone you trust.

In this masterclass episode, we're joined by Rudra Roy Choudhury—immigration strategist, mentor, and community-builder—to break down the EB-1A visa through the lens of strategy, storytelling, and lived experience. Rudra walks us through his personal journey, the common pitfalls foreign nationals face, and how to craft a compelling case for “extraordinary ability” that stands up to scrutiny. We dive deep into category choice (EB-1A ), building visibility and influence through media and awards. Whether you're in STEM, the arts, or entrepreneurship, Rudra shares actionable insights and hard-earned wisdom for those just starting out—and those almost ready to file. This is the episode to play on repeat if you're serious about crossing the threshold from great to extraordinary.

While most of the U.S. was celebrating the 4th of July holiday, President Donald Trump was busy signing the One Big, Beautiful Bill into law. This wide-ranging tax law has a few implications for the biopharma industry, including expanded IRA exemptions for orphan drugs. Looking ahead to the second half of 2025, BioSpace reviews some of the upcoming catalysts highlighted by Jefferies' “Halftime Show” report, including a highly anticipated Phase III readout for Eli Lilly's oral obesity candidate orforglipron and an eye on rare disease decisions under the “new” FDA. Speaking of FDA decisions, this week kicked off with a surprise approval—that of KalVista's Pharmaceuticals' Ekterly for hereditary angioedema. The road to approval for Ekterly was not a smooth one, after the FDA delayed its target action date and Endpoints News reported that FDA Commissioner Marty Makary tried to have the application rejected. More regulatory controversy is afoot as Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is facing yet another lawsuit. A group of medical organizations have sued Kennedy and other health leaders in an attempt to reverse Kennedy's recent decision to remove COVID-19 shots from the routine immunization guidelines for healthy children and healthy pregnant women. In other vaccine news, Kennedy endorsed the expanded use of RSV vaccines for people 50 through 59 years old who are at risk of severe disease—following the recommendation of the CDC vaccine advisory committee he turfed last month. This seeming reversal of sentiment largely mirrors the Secretary's massive HHS overhaul, which has already seen several of these layoffs reversed. In ClinicaSpace this week, we take a deep dive into the numbers. Also in ClinicaSpace, we feature four therapies hanging tough in a troubled TIGIT space that has seen several companies burn billions of dollars on failed assets. And BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics is back in the news after signaling support for a Citizens' Petition submitted to the FDA requesting the approval of its cell therapy NurOwn, whose Biologics License Application was withdrawn in 2023. Finally, in BioPharm Executive, we take a deep dive into the burgeoning longevity space and unpack the short-lived marriage between Novo Nordisk and Hims & Hers Health.

Moin und willkommen zum Fleckenhörer am 7. Juli! Free all Antifas! Hannah Diviney made history in 2022 when she became the first person with a disability to film a sex scene for Australian television. Then she went viral when she confronted both Lizzo and Beyonce over an ableist slur in their song lyrics. When Hannah was growing up, the only people she saw on TV who used a wheelchair like her were Paralympians or in Road Safety ads.Hannah spent a lot of her childhood feeling lonely and left out, though she was sure she wanted to be a writer when she grew up.She was still at pre-school when she realised that names on the front of books belonged to the people who had written them.It was also around this time when Hannah became aware that her body didn't work in the same way as her friends at childcare.Hannah has since started the Krazy Kosci Klimb, which supports young people with Cerebral Palsy to climb Australia's highest peak.Hannah always knew representation was important for young, disabled people like her to be reflected in pop culture and to belong. So she wrote to Disney, requesting they create their first princess who uses a wheelchair. That petition secured Hannah's first job in journalism with Mamamia — at the age of 15.She has since made history, becoming the first person with a disability to film a sex scene for Australian television.in 2022, Hannah went unexpectedly viral for confronting musician Lizzo about an ableist slur in her song lyrics.Several weeks later, Beyonce used the same slur, and Hannah realised she had to take on the biggest pop star in the world.Further informationHannah's collection of autobiographical essays, I'll Let Myself In is published by Allen & Unwin. This episode was produced by Alice Moldovan.Conversations' Executive Producer is Nicola Harrison.Find out more about the Conversations Live National Tour on the ABC website.
Vaginal estrogen is not the enemy. Outdated data is. In this crossover episode of the BackTable Urology and OBGYN podcasts, Dr. Suzette Sutherland and Dr. Yahir Santiago-Lastra delve into the persistent challenges and ongoing advocacy efforts surrounding the FDA's black box warning on vaginal estrogen. --- SYNPOSIS They explore the historical context and far-reaching influence of the 1990s Women's Health Initiative (WHI) study, asserting that its misinterpretation continues to shape misconceptions and hinder effective menopause care. The discussion highlights recent data refuting the risks associated with vaginal estrogen therapies and underscores the urgent need for updated, evidence-based guidelines to support women throughout menopause. Dr. Santiago-Lastra also draws attention to gender-based inequities in hormone treatment, the robust evidence contradicting the current black box warning, and the multi-faceted advocacy required to bring about change. This episode is part of a broader series focused on various aspects of menopause. --- TIMESTAMPS 00:00 - Introduction02:01 - Menopause Series Overview03:55 - History of the Black Box Warning on Estrogen07:26 - Understanding the Black Box Warning12:11 - The Citizen's Petition and FDA Process18:11 - Gender Inequity in Medical Treatment22:45 - Factors Resulting in Gender Inequity29:02 - Genital Urinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM)29:32 - Benefits of Vaginal Estrogen33:33 - Legislative Advocacy and Medicare34:43 - Professional and Patient Advocacy36:35 - Challenges and Progress in Label Change43:35 - Historical Context and Gender Equity45:07 - Recap and Future Directions

The 1990s was a wild west era for fishing on the Great Barrier Reef. Even after being declared a Marine Park and a World Heritage area, more than 95% of the Great Barrier Reef was still being fished, and things were heading downhill fast. Then came a bombshell report that exposed what was really going on beneath the surface -- and all hell broke loose. What followed was a fierce battle known as the ‘Trawl Wars,' and unfortunately, it did not happen in a galaxy far, far away.In this episode, we're joined by legendary conservationist Imogen Zethoven, who was made Officer of the Order of Australia for her groundbreaking campaign to create the largest network of no fishing zones, also known as Green Zones, in the GBR Marine Park. Imogen shares how the fight was won -- and why the battle to protect our oceans is far from over.Thumbnail Image: Imogen Zethoven in front of a van owned by a Mackay local at a meeting in the early 2000s.Glossary of Australian Terms for our International ListenersPrawns = what we call shrimps in Australia!Tucker = a slang term for foodCanberra = our capital city, where Parliament House is located (we know you've never heard of it)GBRMPA = Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (also known as the Reef Authority).CSIRO "Sigh-Row" = Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (Australia's national science agency).AFMA = Australian Fisheries Management AuthorityTake Action on Overfishing:Australian Marine Conservation Society (Fisheries Campaign)WWF (GBR Campaign)-------------------------------Support the show Got questions? Richard Fitzpatrick wants to change the way you think about sharks.Ever since he kept a pet shark as a kid, Richard has made it his life's mission to rewrite the story of one of the ocean's most misunderstood predators. Now an Emmy-winning cinematographer, marine biologist and shark researcher, he's spent more than 15,000 hours swimming with sharks — filming them, tagging them, and tracking them for science, often using wildly unorthodox (and very hands-on) methods. In this episode of Word on the Reef, learn how to rope and tame a wild shark, why jokes can come back to bite you in the butt (literally), and why you should always watch your footing when you're standing on a boat surrounded by sharks. We bust some myths about shark behaviour, and explore how cutting-edge research is helping protect both humans and these vital apex predators. FF: Divide to Conquer Property Taxes, Government Overreach, and Money Eric and Deven testified for the Ohio State Senate while Ethan ran our Winner's Dinner meeting and Lila was collecting signatures on a Petition to put the Abolishment of Property Taxes on the November ballot. Property taxes are pricing senior citizens out of their homes as well as making housing unaffordable for many people. We talk about one woman's story of losing her home after her husband didn't pay their property taxes. We talk about how important it is for both spouses to understand the family finances, what some of the other options are for life without property taxes, and how the way Ohio is currently using property taxes is against our state constitution. We can't guarantee an equal outcome; we can only do our best to give an equal starting point. To be an adult, you need to take responsibility for your life. June 19, 2025 Today's Reading: Catechism: The Lord's Prayer - The Seventh PetitionDaily Lectionary: Proverbs 22:1-21; John 18:1-14But deliver us from evil. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. It's dark down here. There's a lot of evil in the world. It's one of the rare places we can agree with the atheists. The difference is that we can find an evil one, the devil, stirring the pot. We can label the roots of so many of the evil things men do to each other in the 10 Commandments. Even if you don't know the name of it, though, the prayer stands. We want to be free from it. Deliver us from evil. Deliver us from everything that works for our harm under the kingdom of Satan. We pray in this Petition, in summary, that our Father in heaven would rescue us from every evil of body and soul, possessions and reputation, and finally, when our last hour comes, give us a blessed end, and graciously take us from this valley of sorrow to Himself in heaven. If you make this a future event, Christianity becomes nothing more than a race to the end, which is why so many Christians talk about life in heaven more than life today. If you see God delivering you from evil everywhere His name is hallowed, everywhere His kingdom is manifest, and everywhere His will is done, there can be comfort today, too. You were delivered from evil where God has brought you His holy name and given You His Holy Spirit. You can find deliverance from evil in God's church. Here, your sins are forgiven, and you are given an identity not rooted in shame and vice. Here, you are tied to the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting in a way that even the prince of this world cannot undo. Here, you are kept safe and secure until, at last, you join the church triumphant at rest. In all of it, the comfort lies in the source of deliverance, not the distance you happen to be from the evil. God remains the source of every good, even in the face of death. He has already worked a blessed end for you upon the cross, that even in the darkest of days when evil seems to pervade everything, you can look to your victory in Christ's death and find certainty that you are already delivered. The difference between the church triumphant and the church militant, the saints in heaven and the saints on earth, isn't that one has been finally delivered, and the other doesn't get that yet. All of us are delivered from evil; it's just that some of us who are at rest can see it a little clearer. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. From evil, Lord, deliver us; The times and days are perilous. Redeem us from eternal death, And, when we yield our dying breath, Console us, grant us calm release, And take our souls to You in peace. (LSB 766:8)- Rev. Harrison Goodman, Higher Things Executive Director of Mission and Theology.Audio Reflections Speaker: Pastor Jonathan Lackey is the pastor at Grace Lutheran Church, Vine Grove, KY.In Clarifying the Great Commission, Rev. Daniel Christian Voth identifies common omissions from our collective understanding of Jesus' farewell discourse—omissions that turn Christ's promises of forgiveness, life, and salvation into a legalistic command. Come and discover a richer understanding of The Great Commission.

Christopher Bennett is a Virginia man serving a 1,800-year prison sentence for the 2003 killing of his mother's boyfriend, Vincent McDorman. Bennett, then 18, claimed he shot McDorman after catching him molesting his six-year-old half-sister, Victoria. He was convicted of capital murder, robbery, and breaking and entering, receiving three consecutive life sentences. Bennett's family and supporters argue that he acted to protect his sister and have advocated for clemency, including demonstrations and petitions.Petition for Christopher Bennett: https://www.change.org/p/a-hero-sentenced-to-prison-for-killing-a-child-molesterhttps://linktr.ee/UnforbiddentruthBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.
Q. 103. What do we pray for in the third petition? A. In the third petition (which is, “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven,”) we pray that God, by His grace, would make us able and willing to know, obey, and submit to His will in all things, as the […]
Earlier this month, the Movers and Shakers descended on Brighton in order to drum up enthusiasm for our petition. We're looking for 100,000 signatures in order to guarantee that our Parky Charter – a list of demands/requests that would improve Parkinson's care – gets a debate in Parliament. On this special episode (during our summer break) we report back from the (very rainy) seaside, and catch-up in the Notting Hill pub to look at how the petition is progressing and launch a very special competition which could bring the show to where you – yes, you – live.Don't forget to sign the Parky Charter petition by going to ParkyPetition.com!Sponsored by Boardwave, who support Cure Parkinson's.The Movers & Shakers are: Rory Cellan-Jones, Gillian Lacey-Solymar, Mark Mardell, Paul Mayhew-Archer, Sir Nicholas Mostyn and Jeremy Paxman.Produced and edited by Nick Hilton for Podot.Sound mixing by Ewan Cameron.Music by Alex Stobbs. Did you know that a bi-partisan commission has recommended non-partisan elections for the City of Annapolis for nearly 30 years? Did you realize that the increased assessments on property in Annapolis are causing your taxes to increase; yet allowing the City to claim they have not raised your taxes? Do you think that 7000 voters in the City of Annapolis should be allowed to participate in primary elections? Would you like to get a break on your tax bill? It's possible with two petitions that Annapolitans for a Better Community are circulating to allow the voters to answer those questions in the form of a ballot referendum in November. We sit down with Bill Kardash, one of the founders to discuss it and open our eyes. We dive deep, but a key takeaway is that the petitions are NOT a vote for or against--they are merely asking "permission" to allow the voters to decide in November. When looking at the non-partisan primary petition, in rough numbers there are 28,000 registered voters in the City with 14,000 registered Democrats, 7,000 registered Republicans, and 7,000 voters registered as unaffiliated or independent. In this election year, those 7,000 likely will have no say in who is elected Mayor of Annapolis (there are only two Democratic candidates and no Republicans, and currently unaffiliated voters are locked out of the primary). The tax petition is a bit more complex, but there are three taxes paid on a property--State, County, and City. While the County has voted to cap the increases at a maximum of a 2% increase, the City has not and has been collecting 10% increases as the assessments go up. The tax rate is not increased, which is a political talking point despite the revenue going up. The best example is a product for $100 is sold and the tax rate is 10%-- you will pay $10 in taxes on that product. Now the same product is in demand and the price increases to $125, you will now pay $12.50 in taxes. The tax rate did not increase, the value of the product did. In plain numbers, if your home was worth $600,000 in 2024 and the triennial assessment (phased in over 3 years) brought the value of your home to $744,000, your County tax would increase from $4,516.56 to $4,699.03 (due to the cap). However, on top of the County taxes, you pay a City tax as well, and using the same assumptions, your taxes would increase from $4,781.89 to $5,490.72. Both issues have nuances, but both issues deserve to be heard. Have a listen! In this enlightening episode of The Free Thought Project podcast, Jason flies solo (with Matt on vacation) for a deep-dive conversation with longtime liberty activist and Free Talk Live co-host, Mark Edge. Note: Jason's mic wasn't working correctly for the first 17 minutes — but the insights are worth sticking around for. Mark's radio co-host and Free Talk Live co-founder, Ian Freeman, is currently serving time in federal prison for the "crime" of facilitating Bitcoin transactions — a glaring example of the federal government's ongoing war on crypto. We unpack Ian's unjust prosecution, his prank encounter with Joe Biden that may have put him in the feds' crosshairs, and the heartbreaking reality that Free Talk Live is now on life support. Jason and Mark also reflect on their time at the 2025 Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas, the energy and evolution of the crypto movement, and briefly touch on Roger Ver's new book Hijacking Bitcoin. We discuss the importance of decentralization, the co-optation risks crypto faces, and Ross Ulbricht's powerful first public speech since being imprisoned in 2013. The conversation turns toward the two-party illusion, the failures of political reform through party expansion, and whether a potential second Trump term could change the trajectory of the crypto crackdown. We wrap with a white pill: Mark's optimism, what keeps him going after nearly two decades in the fight for liberty, and how we can support Ian and others like him. This is a must-listen for anyone who cares about digital freedom, liberty activism, and the future of financial sovereignty. In this conversation we talk with Garrett Felber about their latest book A Continuous Struggle: The Revolutionary Life of Martin Sostre. In discussing this new political biography, we cover Sostre's ideological and political journey, history as a jailhouse lawyer, his forms of organizing practice, and the ways that people supported his campaign for freedom from political imprisonment. We talk about the influence of Great Depression era Harlem, Black and Puerto Rican Nationalism, Marxism-Leninism, national liberation movements, armed struggle, Women's Liberation, and Anarchism on Sostre's political thought and practice. Although much of what we know about Martin Sostre has to do with political letters and writings during the time of his incarceration, Felber also shares insights that few know about Sostre's life, community organizing, and institution building on the outside. Garrett Felber is an educator, writer, and organizer. They are the author of Those Who Know Don't Say: The Nation of Islam, the Black Freedom Movement, and the Carceral State, and coauthor of The Portable Malcolm X Reader, with Manning Marable. Felber is a cofounder of the abolitionist collective Study and Struggle and is currently building a radical mobile library, the Free Society People's Library, in Portland, Oregon. Yesterday we hosted Garrett Felber along with Russell Shoatz III on a livestream where we talked about some of the resonances between Martin Sostre's life, political thought, and approaches to political prisoner defense work and that of Russell “Maroon” Shoatz and we also discussed CURBfest which is expanding to the West Coast for the first time this year. Tomorrow Thursday the 29th we will host a livestream on Sundiata Jawanza's Freedom Campaign including a quickly approaching parole hearing. We encourage all of you to go to the website and send letters of support for his release. The website says that letters were due on May 19th, but there is still just a little time if you can get a letter in the mail today or at least submit one electronically or contribute to the legal support fund that would be great. There are a number of other initiatives we want to share related to this episode, the campaign to free the Mississippi 5 which Garrett Felber mentions in this episode and the exoneration effort for Martin Sostre and his codefendant who is still with Geraldine (Robinson) Pointer. Links for that are in the show description. If you like the work that we do, please contribute to our patreon or BuyMeACoffee accounts. These episodes each take hours of preparation, recording time, and production time and listeners like you are the only means of support for that work. Over the last month we've seen a 10% decline in recurring support. We know people are under financial strain right now, but if more of you who listen are able to contribute even a dollar a month it helps make this show possible and sustainable. Thank you for your support! Links: Martin Sostre and Geraldine (Robinson) Pointer's names should have been cleared after they were framed.
