Lai proposes talks with Beijing to ease tourism restrictions President Lai Ching-te is describing China as the "real barrier" to cross-strait exchanges - not Taiwan - and he is urging Beijing to hold talks with Taipei to ease restrictions on tourism. Speaking at the Presidential Office following his New Year's Day address, Lai said if China is genuinely sincere about reopening tourism links … … then the Taiwan Strait Tourism Association and the Association for Tourism Exchange across the Taiwan Straits should begin negotiations to ease those restrictions." Lai cited government data - saying the number of Taiwanese traveling to China for tourism or business reached 2.05-million between January and November of last year - while only 285,000 Chinese tourists visited Taiwan during the same period. He also criticized Beijing for banning Chinese students from pursuing (追求) degrees in Taiwan. Tamkang Bridge makes CNN's architecture projects set to shape the world in 2025 list The under construction Tamkang Bridge linking New Taipei City's Bali and Tamsui districts has made CNN's list of the top 11 architecture projects set to shape the world in 2025. The 920-meter long road, light rail and pedestrian bridge was designed by Iraqi-British architect architect Zaha Hadid. When completed it will be the world's longest single-tower, asymmetric (不對稱的) cable-stayed suspension bridge. It ranks 11th in CNN's list of architectural projects set to shape the world this year. CNN describes it as featuring "a surprisingly slender profile, with the entire structure supported by just a single concrete mast - which the firm's project description says minimizes the bridge's visual impact on its surroundings." The bridge is set to open for traffic in the first half of next year. Puerto Rico Power Partially Restored Electric power has been restored to nearly all affected customers across Puerto Rico after a sweeping blackout plunged the U.S. territory into darkness on New Year's Eve. By Wednesday afternoon, energy officials said power was back up for 98% of Puerto Rico's 1.47 million utility customers. Luma Energy, the private company overseeing transmission and distribution of power in the archipelago, said lights returned to households as well as Puerto Rico's hospitals and water and sewage facilities after the massive outage that exposed the persistent electricity problems plaguing (困擾) the island. Still, the company warned that customers could still see persistent temporary outages. It said full restoration across the island could take up to two days. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn

In this thought-provoking episode of The People's Countryside Environmental Debate Podcast, your co-hosts Stuart 'The Wildman' Mabbutt and William Mankelow tackle two pressing questions from listeners, about food labelling and the cost of helping combat the climate and ecological emergencies. Whether you're curious about the future of food labelling, or seeking budget-friendly ways to combat climate change, this episode promises to inform, inspire, and perhaps even challenge your thinking about our role in preserving the planet. Join us then, for an unscripted, relatable conversation that reminds us we're all part of the natural world, not separate from it. Today's journey begins with a question from Milica in Podgorica, Montenegro, who asks: "Why has so much changed in food labelling for personal health but not planet health?" Stuart and William unpack this thought-provoking query, examining the current state of food labelling and its effectiveness in influencing consumer behaviour. They draw parallels with cigarette warning labels and discuss the potential impact of similar approaches for environmental concerns. The hosts also explore the challenges of standardising planet health labels and propose innovative solutions, including a utopian vision where suppliers take the lead in sustainable practices. The conversation then shifts to a question from Senna in Kidlington, Oxford: "What if I can't afford to change my way of life but still want to help combat the climate and ecological emergencies?" Stuart and William offer practical, cost-free strategies for making a positive environmental impact. They emphasise the power of mindful decision-making and challenge listeners to reconsider their assumptions about the cost of eco-friendly living. What do you make of this discussion? Welcome to the People's Countryside Environmental Debate Podcast, where you'll hear questions sent in from listeners from all around the globe. The main themes that run through each of them are nature, philosophy, climate, the human condition, sustainability, and social justice. Join Stuart and Willam, your co-hosts, who are like two men sitting in a pub, given an envelope with the question in, which they open up and explore, cold, without having prepared, very much like you, more likely than not, sitting there listening to this episode. The unprepared nature of this podcast ensures genuine thoughts and reactions for you to ponder. The first question today comes from Milica in Podgorica, Montenegro. It's quite lengthy, so we've copied it into a Google Doc for reference: Milicia's Question William views self-discipline as an internal process. He believes it's largely self-taught and starts from within your own mind before considering external factors. Stuart adds that a Buddhist perspective would suggest that by looking within, you can find the answers. From this viewpoint, there are no inherently good or bad environments; it's all about your mindset. William points out that many people spend their time working, or mindlessly scrolling through social media. This is a passive activity that merely provides a dopamine hit, while reading actively engages the brain and can even help combat Alzheimer's and Dementia. William's action: If you're sitting there thinking, I've not read, I've never picked up a book, and I'm not going to sit and read, for example, ‘War and Peace'. Don't! Read what you want to read, look for something that really interests you. Stuart and William then discuss how we handle stressful situations as indicators of personal growth. Certain situations that once caused stress may no longer affect us, while some still do. Staying calm in stressful circumstances is a sign of progress. Stuart brings up an action: be aware of any conditioning you've had in your life. Be aware of it, and then you can act, if you wish to. He thinks the word acceptance comes into his mind here. If you learn to accept, not just maintaining the status quo, just accepting how things are. And then saying, okay, now I've got that awareness, how can I change things? The second question of today's episode has been set by Ashton from Whitfield, Kent, England. Their question is as follows: “Do you ever see a time when fuel will be the universal currency?” Stuart asserts right away, that he believes fuel is already functioning as a currency in many ways. William counters that while fuel may not be a currency per se, it certainly plays a significant role in driving the world forward. Stuart's action for this topic: Seek out new opportunities, related to alternative fuels—there's much to explore in this evolving landscape! Thank you for joining us today! We hope these discussions inspire you to reflect on your own experiences and actions. What do you make of this discussion? Do you have a question that you'd like us to discuss? Join your co-hosts of The People's Countryside Environmental Debate Podcast, Stuart 'The Wildman' Mabbutt and William Mankelow, as they delve into two thought-provoking discussions on stereotypes and superiority, which as always were sparked by questions that listeners have sent in. The first question they delve into is from Yahya, Casablanca-Settat, Morocco - “How do society's stereotypes influence you personally?” During their discussions they explore the pervasive influence of stereotypes in our daily lives. Stuart emphasises the constant effort required to overcome these preconceived notions, while acknowledging their role in providing predictability, in certain situations. William examines character stereotypes in politics, particularly focusing on right-wing portrayals of immigrants, and discusses how easily anyone can fall into stereotyping people. The hosts then engage in a candid conversation about the most damaging stereotypes in the United Kingdom. The second question they discuss is from Milica, Podgorica, Montenegro - “As you don't have too many more listener questions lined up, I thought I'd send one in. Who are you superior to yourselves do you think?” Stuart kicks off the second part of the discussion by playfully claiming superiority over William, while William shares his focus on bettering himself, and only uses the comparison of his past self. Stuart elaborates on feeling superior in specific contexts and activities, without considering himself generally superior to others. As the episode concludes, Stuart and William pose a thought-provoking question that ties the discussion back to environmental concerns: "Do you see yourself as being superior to nature?" What do you make of this discussion? Do you have a question that you'd like us to discuss?

Odgovore donosi Maja Marić s kolegicom Vesnom Rajković i analitičarem Zoranom Radulovićem. Von Maja Maric.

The entrepreneur behind the $40bn collapse of crypto token TerraUSD, Do Kwon could be extradited to the US or South Korea to answer fraud charges following a court ruling in Montenegro. He sparked an international manhunt after fleeing an investigation in his native country of South Korea, following the sudden collapse of the TerraUSD and its sister token, luna. He was caught as he tried to leave Podgorica airport on a Costa Rican passport and sentenced to four months in prison in Montenegro. Kwon is sought by both the US and South Korea on fraud charges. So with the fall of another Crypto heavyweight, what does this do to the industry and should customers be concerned?

"Being successful is feeling comfortable in my own skin". Nina Bajković is a Transactional Analysis Counsleor and a psychotherapist under supervision. She receives clients within her private practice NB Psychotherapy, in Podgorica. In working with clients, ie individual therapy of adults, couple therapy, and family, she is dedicated to creating a stable, supportive and non-judgmental space, focusing on root-cause approach, as opposed to the exclusive treatment of symptoms. The psychotherapeutic vocation was preceded by a professional orientation within the business sector in the positions of HR Director and General Manager. The need to recognise the causes of employee behaviour, adequate motivation and potential on the one hand, and the ability to test, perform personality assessment, asses cognitive abilities and performance of employees on the other hand, resulted in international certificates Inspire Expert and Hogan Assessment Couch. Without offering quick solutions to the complex issues of the human psyche, her work sets realistic, achievable, measurable goals that enriched with compassion, empathy and collaborative association in the healing process, provide clients with new insights, skills and awareness of internal processes. Knowledge of the unconscious dynamics that govern life is also liberating, and clients re-establish a connection primarily with themselves, important others and the world. If you want to connect to her you can find her on instagram @nb.psihoterapija, or send her an e-mail at nbpsihoterapija@gmail.com Being Human and Doing Psychotherapy is a podcast that portraits the human in psychotherapists and the psychotherapist present in all of us. Whatever profession we pursue, we first enter it with humanity and the fullness of the whole being. Through this podcast, I curiously explore what the “secret ingredients” of various psychotherapeutic directions are and how they integrate through the specific life and human stories of the therapists who practice and live them. hope this conversation brings something new in your perception and knowledge on this topic.

Intervista all'analista Marco Siragusa
Jakov Milatović je novi predsednik Crne Gore. Kandidat Pokreta Evropa sad u drugom krugu ubedljivo je pobedio kandidata Demokratske partije socijalista Mila Đukanovića. Koje su bile prve poruke Milatovića i koju politiku on zagovora? Ulazi li Crna Gora sada u takozvanu postđukanovićevu eru?
There were four years left before the war in the Balkans broke out. Nothing remarkable, it seems, on that side... Pulling the thread, we find a clue. Sometimes the number appears associated with the words Stara Varos . This is the old town of Podgorica, which concentrates some of the rare attractions of the city: such as the clock tower (one of the few Ottoman monuments that survived the bombing of World War II) or the stone bridge over the Ribnica River (the oldest bridge in the capital, built under the Roman Empire and renovated in the 18th century). read also Car route through the Bay of Kotor MARTHA PASCUAL The route through the Bay of Kotor passes between other towns through Perast Rest in the snow: the highest mausoleum in the world is in Montenegro VICTOR LIVES Access to the mausoleum of Peter II Petrović-Njegoš, on top of Jezerski Peak We continue. In fact, we discovered another painting by Stara Varos with the figure of a Viking ( varvari = barbarians?) next to the clock tower, the stone bridge... and a lighting tower, like those in sports stadiums. Therein lies the key to the enigma. Because just a 10-minute walk from the clock tower is a football field: the Fudbalski Klub Budućnost Podgorica stadium. It has a curious history. Originally it was a playground for Italian soldiers stationed in the city during World War II. Immediately after his departure, it was converted into a stadium, in 1945. And two years later, the first stands were erected.
October 2022 marks the 10 year anniversary of the founding of Trailing Houses – the unofficial Facebook Group of the Foreign Service. Affectionately known as THOTUS, the group now numbers at around 23,000 members.Since its inception as a way for a few EFMs from Kathmandu to keep in touch after departing post, it's grown to be the first stop for questions, answers, information, sharing, and connection for folks serving in Embassies and Consulates around the world as well as those based “back home.”Trailing Houses is moderated by 5 admins: 4 EFMs (spouses of Foreign Service members) and a direct-hire FSO: Ed (E.M.) Dyer, Erica Meeks, Ricky Lynn, Lesley Beahm (who couldn't make the interview), and Kim Beauchamp. Collectively, they've served in: Abidjan, Abuja, Harare, Kathmandu, Khartoum, La Paz, London, Nairobi, Podgorica, Prague, Pristina, Tallinn, Tel Aviv, and, of course, D.C.In this exclusive interview, the Admins share with us the origins of Trailing Houses, how it's grown, where it's heading, and what they've learned from moderating a hugely diverse group who move around the world, trailing their houses with them....You can support the generous work of the Trailing Houses admins by contributing to their Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/trailinghouses
