[43:06] IMMEDIATE ACTION TIP: The first questions to ask at the start of any good change program: who thinks something is wrong? What do they think is wrong? And who else knows? RESOURCES Phil Kirschner on LinkedIn Phil Kirschner, Contributor – Leadership Strategy, Forbes QUOTES "Many employees are feeling gaslit when they hear leaders say, ‘It was better before,' because that doesn't resonate with them." "Trust in organizations dipped for the first time in Edelman's latest trust barometer report." “When I walk into the building, if the experience of getting in or registering a visitor or attending event is, is not a great one, at that point, I do not know or care whose problem it is. I want one place to go easily and I want a hospitality feeling in the response to that, which is really difficult for groups that are viewed as an expense.” “The companies that say place isn't the thing, then tend to come back around with much more interesting and studied uses and new designs of place, whether that's somebody's house, whether that's a coworking space, whether that's an “office” that they retain for gathering purposes, right? These are the same companies that tend to staff up on workplace experience. They staff up on customer success for tools, they staff up for gathering.”
“I feel seen,” says Karrie Hamons, mom of college-aged twins from Tyler, Texas who loves traveling, entertaining and crafting, “like I found a little place in the social media/internet world where I belong.” Karrie is a longtime member of the Grid + Glam membership and one of two guests interviewed in this episode of the Get Organized for Good podcast. Karrie talks about the joy of finding a like-minded community where being organized is celebrated and where the support is always available when you need it, no matter what stage of the process you're in. Also joining Corinne in a respective interview is Terry A. Peters, a mom of two young kids, eight and five, from Connecticut. A daughter of immigrant parents Terry, like many of us, was raised with a scarcity mentality and no foundations for how to live an organized life. She explains why she was drawn to Corinne's program over so many others, and why organizing is not about some Pinterest fantasy, but about bringing peace and joy to real, everyday life. Both women explain what it's like to see their families—particularly their kids—adopt Corinne's frameworks of organization at different ages and phases of life. Join to hear about their stories and about how you can join the membership to start your own organizing journey today. Quotes “Many people think about organization in the most Pinterest, Instagram-worthy, picture perfect…all the things you might see on television, but the reality is the majority of our society and our population live everyday lives. We've got families and pets and things are a mess a part of the time and that's okay, too.” (5:35 | Terry A. Peters) “It's not just about the stuff…the aesthetics, but it's really trying to figure out…what are those pieces that were really helpful and continue to be helpful…are no longer helpful to us? We get to decide and undo the things that are just no longer helpful for us and honor…where our parents came from …we get to create a different upbringing for our children.” (6:48 | Corinne Morahan) “Drop the preconceived notions. Organizing is for everyone. It benefits everyone. I would argue that the benefits of having an orderly space, a tidy space, an organized space that's calming brings way more benefit to the general society than it does to celebrities who have multimillion dollar homes.” (16:08 | Terry A. Peters) “Sometimes I felt like I got backhanded compliments from [family and friends] for pursuing this order and structure in my life. So, sometimes I almost felt like it was a character flaw…When I found your page and started following along, I thought, ‘Oh, my gosh. I feel seen. I feel like this is celebrated. This is encouraged.' …So, I found a little place in the social media/internet world where I felt like I belonged.” (26:27 | Karrie Hamons) “One of the beautiful things about the membership is you've got the accountability, you've got the timeline…sometimes you're not mentally or emotionally ready to deal with some stuff…I have the framework, I have the support still through the membership when I am ready to tackle that spot. The resources are always there and the support of the community is always there for you when you're ready.” (36:50 | Karrie Hamons) Links To join the free "New Year, New Clarity: Organize Your Life in 2025" experience happening in January, please sign up here: https://gridandglam.myflodesk.com/qibl1vet6n Connect With Corinne: https://www.gridandglam.com/ https://www.corinnemorahan.com/ https://www.instagram.com/gridandglam/ https://www.instagram.com/corinnemorahan/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/corinnemorahan/ https://www.facebook.com/gridandglam https://www.youtube.com/@gridandglam1 Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

A Goal Roadmap transforms ambitious dreams into achievable milestones, breaking them down into clear tasks and deadlines. This structured approach ensures you remain focused and motivated, even when your goals seem distant. Defining a long-term vision involves envisioning the ultimate outcome, considering the legacy you wish to create, and then reverse-engineering actionable goals. Many brandiD clients aspire to deliver a TED or TEDx talk as a prime example of this process. Key steps include identifying local TEDx events, aligning the speech theme with the event's focus, and finally rehearsing. While preparing for such an opportunity may seem daunting—from crafting the message to attending to details like what you should wear and possibly hiring a speaking coach—the career benefits, including enhanced visibility and credibility, can be profound. Key Takeaways: The importance of breaking big goals into manageable steps. Preparing for a TEDx talk as a structured goal example. Balancing structured planning with openness to spontaneity in long-term vision. The impact of persistence and consistent effort over time. Maintaining motivation and adapting goals amid challenges. Quotes “Many of us struggle with achieving goals that seem to be a long ways out. And we need help breaking them down into small bite sized pieces. So the goal's roadmap is simply taking every single goal and breaking it down to all the action items, all the tactics you have to take to actually meet that goal.” “When you have it broken down, you can set deadlines for each task, and start working towards that bigger, bigger goal that seems a little bit lofty at times, or seems a little bit far into the future.” “One of the most common goals that many of our clients have is delivering a TED talk or a TEDx talk.” “Sometimes it helps to think about the much longer-term vision of, you know, when you're 70, or 80 years old, what do you want people to be saying about you?” “The longer term that you think, and think about the impact you want to make in life, think about how you want to leave people feeling, think about what your obituary might even say about you, then work backwards.” “It's great to long term plan, but make sure you leave time for God's divine inspiration, leave time for spontaneity” “Pray to get clarity around what your goals are, around what your impact should be, around what your purpose is here, what you're here to do in your one wild and short life.” “One other tactic around goal setting, it's like dividing your life into a pie, right? One piece of the pie could be family, one piece, could be faith, one piece could be health and wellness. Another one is professional. Another one could be personal relationships, like romantic life. So you can define your pie, again, by figuring out, these are the parts of my life that are so important that I want to pay attention to.”
“We're contributing to epidemics of psychiatric illness and cancer in the name of energy conservation and climate change without realizing the harm being done,” says Dr. Martin Moore-Ede, who returns to the Quantum Biology Collective Podcast just ahead of the release of his book “The Light Doctor.” Host Meredith Oke predicts the book will have the same impact on revealing the devastating effects of poor light on circadian biology as Rachel Carson's 1962 book Silent Spring had on the now-banned pesticide DDT. In this episode, Dr. Moore-Ede explains how advancements in light technology—from the brightness of Thomas Edison's lightbulb to the blue light emitted by LEDs—are linked to physical disorders such as diabetes and various cancers, particularly breast cancer, as well as mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. He also claims there's no evidence that LED lights save the energy they are supposed to. With the threat of a full ban on healthy light bulbs looming, we need to act fast. Tune in to learn the most important thing we can do each day to protect ourselves. Quotes “Many, many aspects of sunlight are curative, the infrared and the violet and many many other aspects are green. But in the context of circadian rhythms, it synchronizes robustly with our circadian clock and is associated with longevity and not just living longer but living healthier longer, which is what we all hope for.” (12:46 | Dr. Moore-Ede) “Night is a time for not only sleep but for the rest/restorative features of the body. So, melatonin is something that helps trigger restorative actions of the body. Growth hormone coming out in the evening hours, for example, it comes out early in the sleep period. All those systems in the body are now repairing the cells.” (21:27 | Dr. Moore-Ede) “We know, for example, women who don't see electric light rarely get breast cancer. It was very rare to see these before Edison invented the light bulb. We know that women who are in a non-electrified part of the world, and there are quite a few million people in that state, don't get breast cancer or rarely get it. And we also know that women who are blind from an early age rarely get breast cancer.” (25:55 | Dr. Moore-Ede) “We're contributing to the epidemics of psychiatric illness and anxiety, depression, PTSD. We're contributing to the epidemics of cancer… in the name of energy conservation and climate change and being positive in this arena, without realizing the harm done by, really, a false metric.” (44:10 | Dr. Moore-Ede) Links Connect with Dr. Martin Moore-Ede: https://thelightdoctor.com/ https://circadianlight.org/ Substack: lightdoctormartinmooreede.substack.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/martin-moore-ede-80630a12/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/circadianlightdoctor/ Twitter (X): https://twitter.com/DrMooreEde/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@drmartinmoore-ede1539 Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=lFyCIC0AAAAJ&hl=en Bon Charge Discount Code: at checkout enter the code: QBC to receive 15% off https://us.boncharge.com/collections/blue-light-blocking-glasses **If you're in the US and have a Health Savings Account (HSA or FSA) BonCharge products are an eligible expense** To receive a FREE infographic of the Ideal Circadian Day & join our email list: https://www.quantumbiologycollective.com/qbc-newsletter-aqb To find a practitioner who understands quantum biology: www.quantumbiologycollective.org To see details about the Applied Quantum Certification: www.appliedquantumbiology.com Follow on Instagram & Facebook: @quantumbiologycollecitve Twitter: @quantumhealthtv Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
As a solopreneur (think experts like coaches or consultants), it is essential to delegate so you can concentrate on tasks that uniquely require your expertise. By hiring support staff, even on a part-time or hourly basis, you can free up time for more valuable tasks and help prevent burnout. Common first hires include virtual assistants or financial managers. There's also tremendous value in investing in your personal brand, building your email list, outsourcing your website, and engaging often with your audience. Ultimately, we can't overstress the importance of leveraging support to maximize efficiency and business success. Quotes “Many of our clients fall into this category where we wouldn't necessarily call them small business owners, they are small business owners, but they're really more of a business of one person, they are the subject matter expert. And they have an executive assistant or an admin person or a marketing person or a VA, helping them grow their business.” “What I hear most commonly is hiring someone to manage the financial aspect of the business.” “Some other common activities are scheduling, marketing, any support around sales, and any sort of administrative task that doesn't have to be completed by that subject matter expert.” “A good way to figure out what you can let go of is just making a list of what you do every single day for about two weeks, and then identifying the things that you're doing that only you can do. But also identifying the things that you've done, you look over those past few weeks, that you think somebody else could do, and lump those tasks together, and assign those to somebody else. “Especially when you're first starting your business of, again, subject matter expert, you're doing way more than you need to be doing until you get off the ground, very common.” “The second you can hire someone and get some of those tasks off your list that can be done by someone else, the better. Because you can monetize the work that you're doing, you know, at a much higher rate than some of the more lower level tasks that you might be engaging in.” “People don't realize all the tasks that they have to do to launch their business and grow their business.” “You can get burned out by doing all the things.” “Focusing on the thing that you are excellent at is most important because that tends to fill people up when you're working in your strengths, that tends to energize you and make you excited about your work.” “It's tricky at the beginning, at the very beginning, because you may not have a lot of money to invest in your infrastructure.” “It always kills me to see people trying to build their own website, for example, when they don't really have the skills to do that. And they get so frustrated, and they end up with a result that is truly lackluster, and doesn't reflect well on them.” “Two things I did not do from the beginning, and that I now make sure every client does and one is list build. That was years before we actually added an opt in to our website, years… And the second thing is that visibility piece. We've had our business for many years, and it's really just been in the last couple of years, through the podcast and through really beefing up our social media, mine in particular this year, where I'm making a concerted effort to become more visible and be the face of the brand.” Links mentioned in this episode: The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Tim Ferris: https://a.co/d/8QzJ9Bm

With Denise Ilitch, podcaster and President of Ilitch Enterprises When you grow up in one of the most influential and successful families in the country, your family name and reputation precede you. People may feel they know you before you've even been introduced. While a family name can open doors and expose you to amazing opportunities, there is also the inherited weight of that family legacy. Denise Ilitch recalls how her parents invested their life savings in a little pizza store in Garden City, Michigan. Although it was a big risk, that purchase eventually became the fastest-growing pizza franchise in America. It paved the way for what is now one of the most successful global enterprises in the world. Today, the Ilitch family empire includes two major league sports teams, several entertainment complexes, and extensive real estate holdings. Mike and Marian Ilitch never took their success for granted and believed in the importance of giving back to those less fortunate. They first opened the Little Caesars Love Kitchen in 1985 as a way to aid disaster victims and feed the hungry. To date, more than 6.5 million meals have been provided to those in need. Founded in 2000, the Ilitch Charities organization made it possible to do more and they've donated thousands of volunteer hours and $250 million to worthy causes in support of community programs. From an early age, Denise was taught to prioritize hard work and the importance of giving back. When her father would ask, “What did you contribute to the world today?” there was never any doubt as to what was expected of her and Denise embraced that challenge fully. Today, Denise is considered one of the most influential businesswomen in America. Over the past 30 years, she has distinguished herself as a respected business leader, an advocate for women and children, an outspoken community leader, and a philanthropist. She's also a mother and devoted Grandmother. In addition to her duties as President of Ilitch Enterprises, LLC, Denise will launch her campaign for a third term as a University of Michigan Regent along with the next season of her podcast, “The Denise Ilitch Show.” Well-versed in politics, Denise is a frequent guest on the Sunday CBS News Morning roundtable, “Michigan Matters.” She recently appeared alongside Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett and CEO of Michigan Business Network, Chris Holman, touching on a wide range of topics from the UAW strike, the horrific terrorist attack in Israel, and the Detroit Lions. You won't want to miss Florine's interview with the very accomplished and inspirational, Denise Ilitch. What You'll Hear on This Episode: What was it like for Denise growing up in a family of seven children, that also happened to be one of the most powerful families in the U.S.? Why did Denise's father and mother decide on pizza? What was Little Caesars like from the beginning, before it became one of the fastest-growing pizza chains in the country? What lessons did Denise learn from both her very successful father and mother? Denise's parents were both different personalities, but they worked together perfectly. Much to Florine's delight, Denise's mother, Marian, was the first guest on her “Remarkable Women” radio show. The Ilitch family's vital role in rebuilding the city of Detroit and renovating The Fox Theater. Denise discusses Ilitch Charities and Little Caesars Love Kitchen. What it was like for her father Mike to purchase the Detroit Tigers as a huge baseball lover. Fun fact — he was even drafted by the Tigers before buying them in 1992! Denise's tragic loss of a brother due to addiction, and the lesson it taught her about how important it is to reach out for help. Denise talks about her role as a Regent at the University of Michigan. What are the biggest issues facing women and children today? What would we be surprised to learn about Denise? Today's Takeaway: Being named one of Crain's 100 Most Influential Women is a tremendous honor. Just as her mother was previously recognized for the very same award, Denise exemplifies what it means to be one of the city's most influential women. She's an outstanding businesswoman, community leader, and someone who advocates tirelessly on behalf of others. Denise inherited a family legacy that's been credited with rebuilding a major American city. She was taught the importance of giving back to the community and guards her family legacy with grace and dignity. She continues to inspire and provide leadership in business, philanthropy, and education. Denise uses her podcast as a platform to motivate and inform others. Her guests are people she admires for their confidence, perseverance, and how they dealt with adversity. Every single day gives us gifts. My gift today is to talk to Denise and honor her for all the wonderful and amazing things that she has done in her life. She is truly an outstanding woman and role model! I'm Florine Mark and that's “Today's Takeaway.” Quotes: “Many people told them pizza was a trend, but of course, he proved it wasn't.” — Denise [7:28] “We all ended up at some point or another working in the family business because that's what it was when we started from day one.” — Denise [8:18] “There are so many lessons I've learned from [my father]. But, I would say probably the biggest lesson is to be kind to others, to be humble, and to give back to the community.” — Denise [9:02] “What I admire about my mom and what I've seen her do in the business is that she perseveres. Failure is not an option.” — Denise [10:44] “He bought the Tigers and for him, it was a dream come true. It was really like watching a passionate fan run the team.” — Denise [17:26] “Reach out for help, as much as you can.” — Denise [18:08] “I encourage people, not to allow that stigma to stand in the way of getting help for your loved one.” — Denise [19:32] “It's a family disease, not just the disease of one person.” — Denise [19:42] “It's a privilege for me to be a regent at the University of Michigan. It's my alma mater. I love the University and I love the work that we do. It's very exciting and fun to be on the board because you can help students and you can help people.” — Denise [20:51] Brought to You By: Florine Mark Mentioned in This Episode: Denise Ilitch — The University of Michigan Little Caesars Ilitch Companies Denise Ilitch Show Detroit Tigers
What you do when you are onsite and after the event is all about being prepared, managing on-site challenges, and gathering and analyzing many types of feedback. These are the cornerstones of post-event success and the focus of part 3 of our 3-part series about running a successful, profitable ticketed in-person event. May Silvers, master event planner and business coach, shares her crucial tips in these areas. If you haven't yet, be sure to listen to parts 1 and 2 of this series. What should happen on-site should be a bigger focus for event planners. May reveals the secrets to managing your event like a pro on-site, checklists for what to bring, tips for booking ample time before the event to checking room setups and run walkthroughs, all the way to practicing scenarios for registration and AV setups and materials. May shares the reports and invoices she reviews every single day, and her insider tips on avoiding unnecessary food and beverage charges, avoiding fees and and catching errors on invoices from the venue. As your event starts to end, your work is not done. Be certain to bring printed surveys to your event and collect attendee feedback on-site. Why? Because immediate insights are fresher and often more genuine. And, close your event by teasing the next one. Get them excited and offer super early bird pricing. There are many details on this strategy in Part 2 of this series. Understanding success of your event goes back to the objective of the event. You will measure the benchmarks and metrics that relate to your objective, but May dives deep into both tangible metrics, like ticket sales and new client sign-ups, and intangible metrics like growth in social media followers and email database expansion. These key pieces of feedback are vital facets of your event's ROI. Post-event reflection isn't just for metrics; it's an opportunity to celebrate the team and gather feedback from the host to the crew. Those who went the extra mile for the event deserve acknowledgment and their feedback is gold for your future endeavors. If you aspire to elevate your event planning game, and want more support, May has just the thing: her Ticketed In-Person Event course or a one-on-one consulting engagement with her. You can schedule a call with May to discuss how she can support your event success. Quotes: • “Many of the event planners I work with do not understand how important the on-site and after event work is compared to the rest of the planning process." (1:19 | May Silvers) • "Always book at least four hours before the start time of the event, or ideally the day before the start day of your event." (03:32 | May Silvers) • “I want to see the no show report. I want to see the in-house report. I want to see the arrival report. I want to see the cancellation report. OK, so these four reports, for sure, I will always ask, and I will review every single day. I will also ask to see the daily invoice.” (11:32 | May Silvers) • "You want to make sure that your registration table should be all ready to go, what we call show ready, 30 minutes before the official start time of registration or for your event." (17:37 | May Silvers) • "You want to measure things that are a little bit intangible, such as did you see a peak from your social media following? Did your email database increase as well?" Unveiling the toxic compounds such as Paris Green, an arsenic-based insecticide, and other common chemicals used in golf course maintenance, Dr. Nicole will delve into the potential dangers they pose to vital systems like the liver, kidneys, respiratory and digestive systems, and even the pineal gland. This episode serves as a stark reminder that these chemicals travel beyond the golf course, affecting all of us. Join the Dr. as she discusses how these toxins can compromise detoxification pathways and contribute to various health issues, urging us to take a closer look at the products we use and the environments we inhabit. And I would like to briefly say, on that note, things really shouldn't be the way they were. Nothing has stayed the same in our world. Technology has changed the way we deliver dentistry and how we communicate with patients, and it's changed the way we perform and carry out all of our infection control tasks as well. So, hopefully, all the offices listening are still keeping up their strong points when it comes to all the PPE and infection control protocols that they put in place back then. So, we don't want to go backwards. We want to keep going forwards.” (2:35—3:06)“Many dentists oftentimes feel like they're smothered by all the regulations — federal, state, local — but that's part of doing business. And when you think about HIPAA, they should think about everything that's required in a security role, for example, as best practices to protect their data and their business — and along with that comes protecting patient information. Summary:Mark Quinn discusses the fear of failure and the importance of not giving up when faced with setbacks. He shares a quote from Thomas Edison, highlighting that many failures in life occur because people give up right before they reach success. Mark emphasizes the need to overcome fear and not let the perception of time dictate failure. He uses the example of Milton Hershey, the founder of Hershey's Chocolate, who faced multiple failures before achieving success. Mark concludes by encouraging listeners to take the next step and reminding them that success may be just one more step away.Key Takeaways:Fear of failure can lead to giving up right before reaching success.Overcoming fear and not letting the perception of time dictate failure is crucial.Milton Hershey's path to success was filled with failures, but he didn't give up.Success may be just one more step away if you keep going.Quotes:"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." - Thomas Edison"Do not allow fear and your perception of time to dictate your failure. If you're into looking at research to figure out more natural ways to support your skin condition (eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, hives, seborrheic dermatitis), this episode is for you. Like you, I love digging through research to see what's being ignored or overlooked with the hopes of helping listeners as well as my clients. But there's a sneaky truth that I think needs to be stated clearly… Research isn't always right. What do I mean by that? Sometimes the outcome of a study looks so promising, but when you use the same exact intervention in a clinical setting, the results aren't nearly as incredible. Not knowing these issues with translating research to your case could leave you feeling like you're somehow broken beyond repair because what appears to work for others just will not work for you. I want to dive into these problems with research as well as how research + studies may be presented to you (the patient or caregiver or interested party) so you can take a much more balanced + pragmatic approach to research! In this episode: Ways that research may be presented that's misleading Why testing out data in clinical practice matters so much Problems with small studies (even when the results look so promising) Types of content that may often misrepresent data Why you should ALWAYS look at the references! Tips on how to assess study citations for educational content + products Quotes: Many blog posts are littered with references that don't actually back up any of the claims the author is trying to make. Beware of authors + expert who know that their audience doesn't know how to read research + unfortunately won't question the conclusions they've drawn nor look at the research they've cited.
In this podcast episode, Mari-Liis Vaher from Powerful Marketers speaks with voiceover expert Julie Williams about the benefits of using voice-overs in marketing. They discuss the various ways voice-overs can enhance message delivery and engage audiences, including the use of professional voiceover talent. Julie Williams is a seasoned voiceover expert with a wealth of experience in helping businesses leverage audio in their marketing strategies. Her expertise spans across various applications such as commercials, narrations, eLearning projects, explainer videos, audiobooks, infomercials, phone systems and more. Julie also acts as a coach, helping other voiceover professionals refine their craft and become better at what they do. You can find her online at voiceovermomentum.com where she showcases her work and offers connections with a network of other voiceover professionals. Quotes: “Many people that own businesses like to voice their own stuff because maybe they have a good voice, so they think they can just do as well as a professional. But that's really not necessary because you can do a better job by hiring somebody who can connect with your audience better and it really doesn't cost as much as you might think." (00:02:37) "AI isn't quite there yet when it comes to voiceover. I guess that'd be kind of like having AI write an article and you don't proofread it before you put it up.” (00:03:09) “Especially if you really don't know anything about the voiceover industry or you have the preconceived notion that you really can't afford it, then I understand why you would do it. But there are lots of skills that AI doesn't have. ” (00:06:43) “AI doesn't breathe sometimes. In fact, I never hear AI breathe.” (00:07:05) “The thing about voiceover is not just that the voice says the words. You could do that. If you're going to go to AI, just do it yourself. But get a professional to present the words with personality." (00:08:05) “If you tell them that they'll have a lot of repeat work, don't use that as a negotiating tactic. Ask them if you give discounts on repeat work.” (00:15:14) “Audiobooks are very inexpensive. They don't pay well to the talents at all. And occasionally you can get a talent who's newer if you like how they do it. They just need to get experience.” (00:16:17) Timestamps: [00:03:42] The versatility of voiceovers: From commercials to e-learning. [00:06:13] The Pros and Cons of AI Voiceover vs Human Voiceover. If you have a process for everything except sales, you'll benefit greatly from this encouraging pep talk from Jennifer Bleam. She's here to discuss scaling your business, stepping out of your own way and reimagining the possibilities! Jennifer Bleam is the Owner and Founder of MSP Sales Revolution, a cybersecurity-focused company that teaches entrepreneurs to level-up their operations. She is a trusted educator and mentor for Managed Service Providers looking to dominate their marketplace and build the company of their dreams. Jennifer's drive and expertise has led her to grow several multi-million dollar companies and divisions in under 2 years each. She has been featured in countless trade publications and podcasts and has been a guest speaker and trainer on stages around the world including North America, Australia, and Europe. To date, Jennifer has coached nearly 2,000 MSPs on effective sales and marketing to small and medium-sized businesses. Jennifer is a best-selling Author on Amazon for her book, Simplified Cybersecurity Sales For MSPs: The Secret Formula For Closing Cybersecurity Deals Without Feeling Slimy. Jennifer is also a wife, and a mother of three boys. When she's not occupying her role as a Speaker, Author and Founder, Jennifer enjoys traveling out of her home base on the East Coast. What got you here, isn't going to get you there Now and then, Jennifer is on a call with a frustrated client. As a direct and authentic mentor, Jennifer asks them - “Why do you think you're not seeing growth in your business?” When Jennifer sees businesses stagnate and plateau, they have something major in common - they haven't truly scaled up. The Founder is still trying to do it all- refusing to step away and trust their team, wearing too many hats and burning out. It can be hard to delegate and let go of the reins, but MSP Sales Revolution is all about doing that mindfully! With humor and positivity, Jennifer gives us a helpful reminder that what got us where we are today, might not be exactly what will get us where we want to be. And that's okay! Her 9-step process gives Founders and CEOs the practical tools they need to retain quality control in the company beyond the scale they're currently in, launching them into exponential success. Evaluate your desire role in your company As a Founder, you can't do it all. Jennifer Bleam offers helpful advice on how to remain a visionary and decision-maker for your brand: Start hiring! Whether you begin with a single Virtual Assistant or a dozen, outsourcing administrative tasks can be your gateway to build an expansive company. It can also be a tough pill to swallow, but not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur…and not everyone loves it! Her decades of experience have taught Jennifer that pride can get in the way of unhappy Founders evaluating their career. Through her coaching process, Jennifer teaches Founders to make the important decisions that affect their happiness and success: What their strengths are, what role to fill in their own company, how to hire, and how to scale. What does scaling look like for you? Scaling can look different for different companies. In this episode, Jennifer helps us understand some different ways companies scale and how any service provider can level up - if they're ready to step up and rise to the occasion! Quotes “Many of my clients have woken up and said, you know what? What got me here is not gonna get me there.” “I have an MSP growth road map. It's a 9-step system that all my clients walk through to get from Point A to Point B. Point A is usually, they've had some success but they don't know how to document or measure or prove it. And Point B is, I now have a sales and marketing machine!” “I encourage my clients to hire as quickly as they can - starting with a Virtual Assistant or several Virtual Assistants to do administrative work. I don't think it's practical for an owner to run sales and marketing, be a visionary and make decisions about acquisition. That's a recipe for disaster.” “We will never buy from someone we don't know exists.” “We get very vulnerable. I ask, why are you calling today? There are certain companies that are stuck, and they've been stuck for ten or fifteen years. It's usually because of the owner. The owner can't get out of their own way. Or, they're not willing to get uncomfortable.” “Not everybody is meant to be an entrepreneur. There are business owners who want to close and don't want to define it as a failure. But it's not a failure to say this isn't working - let me close my doors and find something that I like better.” Links mentioned in this episode: Learn more about MSP Sales Revolution on their website at https://mspsalesrevolution.com/about/ Get freebies to expand and scale your business at https://mspsalesrevolution.com/freebies/ You can find Jennifer's book on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Jennifer-Bleam/author/B09TRYQZL2?ref=ap_rdr&store_ref=ap_rdr&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true Connect with Jennifer Bleam on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/bleamjennifer Follow Jennifer on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/JenniferBleamOfficial/
“It all takes persistence. I had zero connections. I got 500 in two weeks,” shares Dana Broder, founder and head stylist at Art of the Style. Dana grew up not quite knowing what she wanted to do and struggling in school due to learning differences. She was drawn to entrepreneurship, but did not know the exact avenue she wanted to go into. When a friend needed help with his style, Dana found her calling and realized that she had a gift for being a personal stylist. In spite of facing challenges with maintaining sobriety, she remained persistent and never lost hope that she would be a professional stylist one day. In today's episode, Dana shares her entrepreneurial journey and how being given a chance at the Trunk Club saved her life. Dana's path to entrepreneurship was lined with many challenges, but she did not let them stop her for long. She was determined to hustle and make it happen for herself. When an opportunity arose to work at the Trunk Club, Dana went for it and refused to give up, even when they initially thought she was a bad fit for their work culture. Ultimately, she proved everyone wrong and went from having zero connections to selling the most of anyone in the history of the Trunk Club in her first month. It would have been easy for Dana to become too overwhelmed by the obstacles and give up, especially while struggling with her sobriety, but instead she doubled down, clung to her dream, and made it happen. To be a successful entrepreneur, it is important to be customer service focused, humble, and very dedicated. If you do not put the customer first, your business will fail regardless of how talented you may be. Learn more about Dana's journey and how she managed to stay hopeful and persevere through every challenge thrown her way. Quotes “Many times I want to say it's not my fault. Especially with retailers not delivering. So, that literally isn't my fault, but it is my fault.” (24:45-24:57 | Dana) “If you are not customer service focused, your business will fail immediately.” (26:26-26:33 | Dana) “It all takes persistence. “When something seems stressful, out of reach, or just a little bit too hard for what you physically can manage at that moment, how do you break that down by half to be able to take that step to move forward?”, asks Amy. In today's episode, your hosts Amy and Denyse have a conversation about being in the sandwich generation, goal setting, and how to break tasks down into more manageable, bite-sized pieces. If you are in midlife, you may feel like you are in a caregiving sandwich. This comes from caring for not only your own children, but also your aging parents or other adults in your life that you may be supporting. This can be a very stressful situation because you're needed on both sides and you don't want to let anyone down. One way to keep up with your own goals and tasks while still caring for your dependents and older family members is time management. By breaking tasks down until they feel easy, you can reduce stress and keep up with your responsibilities. Midlife can be a difficult time to navigate because you may feel responsible for many people around you, not just your own kids. But the secret to successfully taking care of yourself and meeting your own goals, all comes down to intentional time management. Quotes “Many of you may have felt if you're in midlife or maybe even before it, feeling like you're a part of the sandwich generation. You're in time in your life when you're in a sandwich and that's really a caregiving sandwich.” (10:39-10:52 | Denyse) “You don't want to let anybody down from your mom, to your dad, to your clients that you're working with, to your husband, to your kids. You want to be able to be everything to everyone.” (19:17-19:30 | Amy) “When something seems stressful and something seems out of reach or just a little bit too hard for what you physically can manage at that moment, how do you break that down by half to be able to take that step to move forward?” (22:07-22:29 | Amy) Links: Amy & Denyse LOVE to network. After years of stress and burnout, award-winning physician Dr. Sasha Shillcutt shares how a dedication to saying “no” revolutionized her life and put more joy in her days. Quotes “Many women struggle to set boundaries because they feel guilty, and they feel like they're going to be letting someone down. They would rather overextend themselves and live in constant burnout, which is unhealthy, so that they never have the feeling of guilt.” - Dr. Sasha Shillcutt “I prayed and I asked God to help me. I said, ‘I don't know how I've gotten to this place where I feel so alone, and it's such a dark place. I am not living at all the life that I thought I was going to be living.' And that very moment was a pretty pivotal moment.” - Dr. Sasha Shillcutt “I think I was so afraid of disappointing my family and work colleagues by saying no to things. But the truth of the matter is that I was actually able to show up more fully for the things that I said yes to when I started saying no routinely to more things.” - Dr. Sasha Shillcutt “Jesus walked the earth as a human, and He set boundaries. In this episode of the Plant Medicine Podcast, Adam Aronovich returns to discuss the phenomenon of psychedelic narcissism. Adam is a doctoral candidate at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Spain, focusing on Medical Anthropology and Cultural Psychiatry. He is an active member of the Medical Anthropology Research Center (MARC) and part of the Ayahuasca Community Committee at the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines. In the last four years he has conducted extensive fieldwork in the Peruvian Amazon, where he has been doing qualitative research in collaboration with ICEERS, the Beckley Foundation, and, more recently, the Centre for Psychedelic Studies at Imperial College. Beyond his work conducting and coordinating research, Adam regularly facilitates workshops at the Temple of the Way of Light, a prestigious healing center in the Iquitos area. In this wide-ranging conversation, Adam unpacks some of the darker sides of the modern psychedelic movement, discussing the psychosocial dynamics around psychedelic use which can lead to things such as ego inflation, conspiratorial thinking, and narcissism. Adam recalls his own experiences slipping into messianic fantasies during a period of initial enthusiasm around psychedelic experiences. He views issues of alienation and lack of social support as being instrumental in leading to these types of delusions following profound spiritual experiences. While it is difficult to reach people who've slipped into psychedelic narcissism, Adam suggests that communal support is the best safeguard against these dangers and the most effective strategy for grounding people who've lost touch with reality. Drawing on his academic expertise, Adam distinguishes traditional uses of plant medicines from the Western paradigm for approaching psychedelics. He stresses the relational and communal aspects of the spiritual traditions which use psychedelics ceremonially. The pro-social aspects of these wisdom traditions, he claims, help safeguard against the traps of psychedelic narcissism and ego inflation, as there are established mechanisms for keeping people grounded following intense spiritual experiences. Adam closes the discussion with an insightful analysis of modern gurus and self-proclaimed shamans. Adam encourages people to beware of deeply held spiritual fantasies, where a master can appear as more than human. Instead, he emphasizes that even skillful and well-intentioned healers are themselves nothing more than human beings, so there will always be imperfection and messiness. This does not, however, mean that impactful work cannot happen—in fact, this insight helps protect against the idolization of charismatic psychedelic personalities, which can lead to harmful experiences. In this episode: Defining psychedelic narcissism Clinical vs colloquial understandings of narcissism The intersections of the psychedelic movement and conspiracy theories The importance of social and communal support for avoiding ego inflation following psychedelic or spiritual experiences How psychedelic experiences can actually deepen ego attachments and accentuate narcissistic tendencies The importance of humor in combating spiritual narcissism Quotes: “Many of the underlying ideologies upon which Western cultures were built, like hyper-individualism and so on, kind of predispose us and prime us for certain aspects of narcissism.” [5:36] “Ego inflation, spiritual narcissism, messianic episodes—all of these are things that are fairly common within both people who are in some sort of spiritual or psychedelic path.” [12:17] “In traditional societies for the most part really there isn't such a thing as a self-proclaimed shaman. A person doesn't wake up one morning and is like ‘oh, I'm the shaman'—that's a title or a role or a recognition given to that person by the community.” [38:03] “The best measure of whether somebody is genuine and helpful is not whatever credentials or titles he assigns to himself, but rather what other people feel. So, you know, you will know a tree by its fruits.” [45:08] “Having these experiences by themselves does not necessarily mean spiritual growth or psychological development or any enhanced benefit if we're not constantly, painfully, mindful of how we actually integrate and embody those things in daily life over very long periods of time.” [54:29] Links: Adam on Instagram Temple of the Way of Light Psychedelic Medicine Association Porangui
Highlights [00:21] - Why women in sales month exists and how to increase the number of women in sales. [02:40] - Retaining the women in your sales team. [04:34] - Getting more women into sales management and sales leadership. [08:22] - Giving women in sales a voice when they're not around. [10:24] - Ensuring the work you do impacts the future of your organization In this Women in Sales Month episode of the Transformed Sales Podcast, I will talk about how can organizations increase their sales team diversity by recruiting more women. One of the largest challenges that women face in sales is overcoming bias and stereotypes. Many think of jobs in this industry as positions men excel at because of the aggressive nature associated with sales. Women's sales abilities are often underestimated, and this viewpoint has become a common unconscious bias among individuals in sales. So how can organizations go about hiring more saleswomen? First, they must acknowledge the added benefits women in sales can bring to the workplace and then seek to understand the challenges they face. They must then take the necessary steps to attract and retain them. And I'll share exactly how to go about that in this value-packed 13-minute episode so stay tuned. Quotes “Many women that are in technical roles don't think that they can be in sales because they don't see anyone like them and there's no one mentoring them” - Wesleyne “If you want to increase the number of women in sales you should become a self proclaimed ally” - Wesleyne “In order to get more women into sales management and sales leadership, it goes back to that individualized coaching plan” - Wesleyne “There are still so few women in business-to-business sales” - Wesleyne Connect with Wesleyne Greer: Wesleyne's Website - https://transformedsales.com/ Wesleyne on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/wesleynegreer/ Wesleyne on Facebook - https://web.facebook.com/wesleynegreer Wesleyne on Twitter - https://twitter.com/wesleynegreer Email Her at WGreer@TransformedSales.com

The Honour Key is a message from Pastor Charlotte Quist the explores how our honour or dishonour toward people will either open up or shut out what God has for us. Honour Acknowledges Jn 8:53-55 "You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died, are You? The prophets died too. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?” Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God’; and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him. And if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you; but I do know Him, and I follow His word. Mk 9:7 "Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud: “This is My beloved Son; listen to Him!” Mk 6:4-5 "Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and among his own relatives, and in his own household.” And He could not do any miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. Mt 10:41 "Hearing this, the other ten began to feel indignant with James and John." Quotes: “Many times God will give you what you need in a package you don’t want” John Bevere “Dishonour shuts down what God has put in people – FOR YOU” Jentezen Franklin "Honour is a seed that births favour” Joshua Selman Honour Unlocks 2 Kings 5:1-15 "Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man in the view of his master, and eminent, because by him the Lord had given victory to Aram. The man was also a valiant warrior, but afflicted with leprosy. Now the Arameans had gone out in bands and had taken captive a little girl from the land of Israel; and she waited on Naaman’s wife. And she said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! Then he would cure him of his leprosy.” And Naaman went in and told his master, saying, “The girl who is from the land of Israel spoke such and such.” Then the king of Aram said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So he departed and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold, and ten changes of clothes. And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, which said, “And now as this letter comes to you, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to you, so that you may cure him of his leprosy.” But when the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to keep alive, that this man is sending word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? But consider now, and see how he is seeking a quarrel against me.” Now it happened, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent word to the king, saying, “Why did you tear your clothes? Just have him come to me, and he shall learn that there is a prophet in Israel.” So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots, and stood at the doorway of Elisha’s house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.” But Naaman was furious and went away, and he said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will certainly come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the site and cure the leprosy.’ Are Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, not better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. Then his servants approached and spoke to him, saying, “My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, in accordance with the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. Then he returned to the man of God with all his company, and came and stood before him. And he said, “Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel; so please accept a gift from your servant now.”

We are joined by Celine Le Cotonnec, Chief Data & Innovation Officer at Bank of Singapore and Shameek Kundu, Chief Data Officer at Standard Chartered Bank. They share with us their perspective on what the function and goal of the Chief Data Officer is. From Shameek’s experience, the function of the Chief Data Officer role varies by industry, maturity of the organization with respect to data and sometimes even by geographic location. Celine refers to a study that shows a successful data transformation is 20% about tech, 50% about the people’s mindset and 30% process reengineering wherever you are implementing some type of data product. For her, one key aspect of the CDO role is how you manage the people to achieve transformation within the organization. Quotes: "Many banks that have built some kind of credit model, even with traditional analytics, have seen their models crumble with Covid-19." "In any successful data transformation; 20% is about the tech, 50% is about people and their mindset and 30% is about process change." "If you want to detect financial crime, absolutely the holy grail of AI, in order to detect something like financial crime, at least in supervised learning, you need to know that a transaction was financial crime. But all we can do is detect potential financial crime, then we go and report it to a regulator and we never hear back." WOW, this episode is packed full of root-cause related information that I hope will inspire you. I brought Dr. Navaz Habib to talk about this one specific nerve that controls and regulates so many functions of the body. If you or someone you love suffers with IBS, obesity and weight gain, chronic fatigue, depression irregular heartbeat, ulcers, weight loss, gastroparesis, chronic inflammation, epilepsy, high blood pressure, diabetes, trouble urinating, fertility problems, sexual pleasure, anxiety, heart disease cancer, poor circulation, leaky gut, Alzheimer's, memory and mood issues, migraines headaches, fibromyalgia, tinnitus, addictions, or any autoimmune conditions… I highly recommend listening to this episode about our vagus nerve. (Yes, THAT many manifestations + more) The sheer amount of diseases and symptoms in the parts of this body that this nerve innervates is a testament to how important it is to maintain your health. Stick around for this entire episode to learn how this is truly the root of so many of our issues and one of the biggest underutilized discussions and Western medicine while I talk to Dr. Navaz Habib about how we can stimulate our Vagus nerve to ensure that this nerve is functioning optimally. (Also, listen for information about a FREE GIVEAWAY and DISCOUNT for a highly helpful essential oil blend.) In this episode: How living in fight or flight hurts your brain and body Where “sympathetic” 24/7 is NOT a good thing How our vagus nerve connects with our immune system in riding our body of toxins Learn how easy it is to improve your vagal tone with simple exercises Vagus Nerve The function that it imparts is extensive. In the brain itself, it helps control anxiety and mood. In the gut, it increases stomach acidity, gut flow/motility and other digestive enzyme production. Low stomach acid is a major source of gut-related health conditions so an underactive vagus nerve is correlated to the root cause of many health conditions. In the heart, it controls heart rate variability, heart rate and blood pressure. In the pancreas it controls blood sugar balance and digestive enzymes. In the liver it controls bile production and detoxification through hepatic phase 1 and phase 2 conjugation. In the gallbladder it controls bile release to help break down fats. In the kidneys, it promotes general function including water balance, glucose control and sodium excretion which helps control blood pressure. In the bladder it controls voiding of urine. In the spleen it helps to reduce inflammation. In the sex organs it helps to control fertility and sexual pleasure including orgasms. In the mouth and tongue, it helps to control ability to taste and saliva production through salivary gland control. In the eyes, it activates tear production through the lacrimal glands. Vagus nerve stimulation has the potential to help those suffering from various health conditions, including but certainly not limited to anxiety disorders, heart disease, some forms of cancer, poor circulation, leaky gut syndrome, alzheimer’s, memory and mood disorders, migraines and headaches, fibromyalgia, obesity, tinnitus, addiction, autism and autoimmune conditions. Dr. Habib’s book “Activate Your Vagus Nerve” is a simple to follow guide to help you identify and address a major missing piece in patients dealing with chronic health concerns such as anxiety and depression. Here are the top 10 related disorders: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Obesity and weight gain Chronic fatigue Depression Irregular heartbeat; too slow or fast Ulcers, Stomach acid issues and/or H. pylori Weight loss Gastroparesis Chronic inflammation Epilepsy But how does this pertain to my hormones? In the immune system we have 70% of our immune cells by volume located in the lining of the gut in what's called “gut associated lymphoid tissue”. What happens is we either have foods that can trigger leaky gut, aka intestinal hyperpermeability, or we have bacteria that are backed up or or dysbiotic within an hour but are going to break down the gut lining and trigger an immune response. When that happens, we are overburdening our liver with toxins that need to be immediately or as quickly as possible eliminated from our body, and we're increasing toxic burden. The liver plays a major role in control of nearly everything, all of the hormones, all of the blood sugar balance, all of the things that come into the body essentially need to go through the liver first and need to be controlled through the liver. Quotes “Many chronic illnesses are multifactorial, there is not a single positive event with symptoms and signs that happen afterwards. Finding a specific diagnosis is the reason why the ICD-10 codes are now up to 20,000. It’s like if we say, “Okay you've got acid reflux, we’ll give you a proton pump inhibitor.” What you're doing is saying that the only way that this possibly could have happened is because you have too much stomach acid. You're not asking the question “why is there too much stomach acid?” [22:55] “When going to a parasympathetic state what's actually happening is our blood flow increases to the prefrontal cortex or ability to learn and think and be in that conscious state. By being told to not question something we're actually saying stop using your prefrontal cortex sending the blood just to the lizard brain to the survival centers would put you in your sympathetic zone all the time.” [27:40] “We cannot recover when we're under stress, where you send blood flow is where you send function. If we are under stress and under that sympathetic system, blood flows to the muscles of the arms and the legs so we can either run away or fight against whatever the threat is that we feel is coming towards us.” [34:30] “70 to 80% of us are in sympathetic mode 70 to 80% of the time and that's where the problem lies. It's supposed to be almost the exact opposite that we should only be in sympathetic mode about 10 to 30% of the time at absolute maximum.” [36:25] Resources http://drhabib.ca/2016/07/activate-vagus-nerve/ Links Follow Diane on Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter | YouTube Join the Cleanse, Heal, Ignite for Natural Beauty & BII Facebook Group Visit here to grab your own Parasympathetic Oil Blend bottle now Dr. Habib’s book “Activate Your Vagus Nerve” Watch our MasterClass & Get to the Root of Hormone, Auto-Immune and Breast Implant Illness Symptoms
What is gut health really? It’s multifaceted, and is supposed to come back to a state of equilibrium. Conventional medicine does not aim to heal these ailments but rather attack the problem. When you go to a practitioner who is only looking at blood tests, you’re not going to get to the root cause of your illness. Today, I talked with Dr. Seth Gerlach, fellow CHI coach about the top 5 gut myths and misperceptions. GI problems can show up anywhere in the body. The gut does much more than digest food, it helps control inflammation in the body, makes neurotransmitters, and sends chemical messengers out all over the body. If you’ve ever been on even antibiotics, chances are you have some sort of problem in the gut. Dr. Gerlach sees many patients who visit his practice that come from gastroenterologists with completely clear tests such as blood work and colonoscopies. What this fails to mention is that traditional doctors are looking for major causes of concern such as cancer or ulcers. This is rarely accompanied with a stool test, which can actually show what’s happening in the gut from a microbial standpoint. Many people have been misled in terms of their gut health, by listening to this, you can learn to take your health back. If we can educate people on how to maintain a healthy gut, they can live a healthy life” [43:45] “It’s selfish to not work on yourself, because no one gets the best of you, everyone gets a little piece.” [49:34] Links Follow Diane on Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Twitter | YouTube Join the Cleanse, Heal, Ignite Facebook Community Watch our MasterClass & Get to the Root of Hormone, Auto-Immune and Breast Implant Illness Symptoms Join my Warrior Cleanse!
Since late May 2020, there has been an accelerated evolution of the conversation around race and our roles as human beings, citizens, and business leaders. With this latest round of high-profile deadly police encounters with Black Americans and the massive response to it, many of us are at a loss about how to best respond. Business leaders especially may be avoiding the conversation because they are afraid to risk their futures because they said the wrong thing. Today, we welcome Willie Jackson back to the podcast to continue the important conversation we began last time. More and more difficult conversations are happening across the country and around the world that require vulnerability and discomfort. Staying in the discomfort and being curious about it along with a willingness to be vulnerable and make mistakes, will lead to meaningful conversations that may in turn lead to long-lasting change in a country drenched in systemic racism. We recognize that this is a time of opportunity, and these opportunities go far beyond simply issuing statements of support and solidarity. We can use the current situation to make sure that our organizations have an equity-informed view of how they operate that leads to sustainable shifts toward inclusion. Being an ally is not enough. It takes more than just doing something within your comfort zone to feel like you’re on the right side of history. Actual meaningful change takes moving from the noun of “ally” to the verb of “accomplice”—taking action to restore equity and justice to a system that is sorely lacking in those fundamentally important principles. This means examining power and privilege and being vocal, even if it comes at personal cost. How can you as a leader model become an accomplice in creating equity and inclusion in your organization? Let’s talk about it in the comments on the episode page! In this episode Why it may feel awkward to discuss race and how to address these feelings Embracing the discomfort of not knowing what to say or do, getting informed, and taking the risk to speak out from a place of vulnerability and knowledge Creating the conditions so that our organizations organically develop into equitable environments Acknowledging the social and historical context that affects everyone Being an accomplice rather than an ally Quotes “Many of us are ill-equipped to navigate the conversation at all. I think that it’s such an honest thing to say that it just feels awkward to name it. A lot of the conversation right now is about not burdening people of color in general, and black people specifically, about the dialogue.” [2:55] “Talking about race is awkward. It is challenging. Like anything - running a business, making money, playing the piano - it takes practice.” [3:51] “Acknowledging and repairing harm is a key part of how we can show up for each other.” [21:31] “In order to fully participate at a baseline level, we might need to radically reimagine how we’re thinking about performance reviews, the stereotypes that get perpetuated, the training that managers get, because people don’t leave companies. People leave managers.” [27:12] “It’s natural to want things to go back to normal. My fear is that we will forget that normal for a lot of people is suffering. It is fraught, and it brought about the conditions for the uprising that we’re seeing right now.” [31:16] Links Find Willie Jackson online ReadySet Upheaval by Jared Diamond Seeing White Slavery by Another Name by Douglas A. Ligon Duncan teaches about the necessity of reading the word in the church's corporate gatherings. Quotes: “Many churches suffer from a paucity of the Bible.” “Nobody ought to be able to escape the Word of God when they come to a worship service filled with the Bible.” “Christian worship is a Word-mediated encounter between the congregation and the living God.” “The reading of the Word of God has been an essential component of Christian worship throughout the totality of the history of the Church.” “In this time where the Word of God is more available than ever, your people probably are not reading the Bible at all. What you do in the service of worship is exceedingly important.”
EE Leaders | Leadership Lessons Season 1 Episode 23 - The Weapon of Prayer In this episode, Pastor Daniel gets excitied, encouraging everyone to pray! Understand this: prayer is a spiritual weapon. “You are in spiritual battle. If you are ignorant or ignore that fact, you probably aren’t winning the battle.” (David Guzik) The Apostle Peter describes this reality in 1 Peter 5:8: Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. No amount of studying or skill can overcome a lack of prayer. God’s power is activated through prayer. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. (1 John 5:14-15) We all need this reminder of the amazing access to God’s strength and power through prayer. In this week’s One Piece of Advice, Pastor Julias Sanna, Joy Church, Delray Beach, FL shares from Proverbs 3:5 about trusting in God with all of our heart. One Piece of Advice - Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart Pastor Julias Sanna, Joy Church, Delray Beach, FL shares his insight into the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5 to trust in the Lord with all of your heart. The limits of our own understanding of situations as leaders forces us to sometimes stop or take a pause to ask God what’s next. “God is always available for us to approach. When you lean on God, God is able to direct your path.” During times of adversity and challenges, we need to remember this. Adding fasting to your prayer life can clarify God’s leading. “When I’m calling on God..and I add fasting…it clears my ears so that I’m not only calling on God, but when He speaks, I can hear Him so clearly.” Make fasting a habit of your prayer life. Like Jesus, we need to separate ourselves from the noise of life and listen to the Father. Prayer gives you the strength to apply what God has instructed you to do. ___ Quotes: “Many people devote themselves to studying God’s word and preparation but not necessarily prayer.” -Daniel Williams “If you are strangers to prayer, you are strangers to power.” - Billy Sunday “We must be aware of the fact that we are in a battle. And we must know how to fight as men and women of God.” -Daniel Williams “As soon as you pray, God is on the move.” -Daniel Williams “There is a huge impact on our world when we are men and women of prayer, trusting in God, depending on Him.” -Daniel Williams ___ Links: Contact Daniel: daniel@eeleaders.com Leadership Lessons/One Piece of Advice/Blog/Recommended Books: eeleaders.com
