This week we have a very special guest, Steve Saleen! Steve joins and talks to us all about the creation of the Saleen brand, Mustangs, the S7, the Bronco, and the upcoming S1! This won't be the last you hear from Steve, he's got a lot more stories coming your way on upcoming episodes.
The party arrives at a bridge, but when they attempt to cross they're told they can't continue unless they pay a toll and produce proof of business. While Eight unintentionally stalls the guards, Trix and Rou take the opportunity to forge papers indicating their roles as ambassadors from Saleen. They're traveling to forge a business alliance with the ruler of the Dreata kingdom. The forgery is so good that the guards let them pass without further fuss. Before they can move forward, Eight notices a traveler being waylaid by another guard. The group is able to convince the guard, with the assistance of a bribe, that the stranger is someone they intended to meet and will be traveling with. The traveler, named Priya, is quick to share snacks and chat up the exhausted party. As dinner time rolls around, the party arrives at a small settlement by the roadside and procure a room at the Golden Falcon Inn. Priya claims she knows the owners, and encourages the party to use her name for a discount as a way of thanking them for their assistance. While Trix and Eight head into the inn, Rou takes the carriage to the stable and finds that Priya needs a little more help.Follow us on Twitter @RoadsUnchartedFollow Dax @GM_Dax, Kappa @TheKappaChris, Sebastian @sebastianyue and Wren @ThornyDryad Affiliates with Friday Afternoon Tea

The launch of the SMS Challenger in 2008, the SMS 302 Mustang in 2010, and the SMS Camaro in 2012 provided the market with a fresh take on the new muscle car era. With Molly at the helm of retail marketing, SMS Supercars has successfully implemented production on all new models and received industry recognition with the release of its' patented ultra-efficient SMS 296 Supercharger system. When she's not running her multiple businesses, Molly can be found at her local track where she is creating her own legacy on the oval. Nico and Passenger Rosie have been comparing engine notes and enjoying the LFA, watching Formula E, and talking to Canadian radio. We have the briefest of glances over the new series and we reckon the Saleen is a bit of a "greatest hits" supercar. Our Miata has an embarrassingly loud exhaust but that doesn't mean Nico doesn't drop a gear going through tunnels.
#Becausegearhead - it's the first-ever Garage Hour. Combine big-AM talk radio w/ a first-time show host who's just found out how to talk to more people about cars, trucks, beers and guns, and that's this. From facts on the disaster caused by Obama's auto bailout (local impact, attacks on Republican dealership owners, Ford's debt, and why GM and Chrysler ain't cool anymore) to a little ditty about why watermelon environmentalism won't mix with real improvement, and you can see a lot of Justin Fort's baby monster here. ..And like always, there's more: Goodyear MT/R Kevlars, Saleen's bankruptsy, Scarecrow's diet, Econolube 163, and wherever the Hell is Hank Watson. Have some.

The Business of Super Cars With an incredible race history with the performance design and build of the Saleen Mustang to one of the world's most renowned super cars, the Saleen S7, CEO & Founder Steve Saleen has carved out a reputation that truly ranks with the most celebrated performance vehicle designers in history. Mr. Saleen’s entrepreneurial business plan laid the groundwork for an entire new industry of design, engineering, manufacturing, and sales of high-performance vehicles that were race-proven and marketed for sales through showrooms nationwide. His impeccable attention to detail while observing a business acumen is like no other. Additional Builds and Hollywood Other significant accomplishments include the paint and sub-assembly of the Dodge Viper, supercharged Harley Davidson Ford F150 and the construction of the first “running’ Camaro for its introduction in the movie “Transformer”. Numerous Hollywood films have featured Saleen vehicles, including “Fast and Furious”, “Bruce Almighty”, “Transformers” (as the Decepticon “Barricade”) and “Ironman.” Mr. Saleen has recently upped the game in the automotive world with the introduction of the Saleen 1, the mid-engine sports car with super car credentials. As the “History Channel” program pointed out, Steve Saleen is part of a trio of “legendary” performance car builders alongside Enzo Ferrari and Ferdinand Porsche.

Stanley Zimmerman: We would go to car shows, generally, everybody else had a sign up saying, "Look but don't touch" their precious jewel. And we thought differently. We thought that we should invite the public, particularly, young children to sit in our cars. And go for a ride in them. They're not immobile. They are moving art and so to enjoy them, you have to use them. We bring out three or four cars from our collection, and people line up and get a ride. It's no charge; it's all free. Tom Smith: Welcome to iDriveSoCal, the podcast all about mobility from the automotive capital of the United States, Southern California. Today is a pretty fun day for me, actually, already has been because I've been getting a tour through The Automobile Driving Museum here in El Segundo, California. Those of you from Southern California know that El Segundo is adjacent to LAX, Los Angeles International Airport. And sitting with me right now is the founder of the Automobile Driving Museum, Mr. Stanley Zimmerman, Stanley, thank you so much for joining us. Stanley Zimmerman: My pleasure to be here and talk with you. Tom Smith: So the Automobile Driving Museum, you're the founder. It was your vision long ago. Can you kind of start off with a high-level explanation, summary? "We bring out three or four cars from our collection, and people line up and get a ride. It's no charge; it's all free." Stanley Zimmerman: Correctly, I am a co-founder of it along with a man called Earl Rubenstein who's no longer active in the museum. He's busy with his profession as an architect. And we're both car collectors, primarily, and we would go to car shows and to car exhibits, concourses, and we would be there with our cars and, generally, everybody else had a sign up saying, "Look but don't touch" their precious jewel. And we thought differently. Driving Children's Interest at The Automobile Driving Museum We thought that we should invite the public, particularly, young children to sit in our cars. And so between us we had discussions and said someday, we'd like to have a museum for our cars where the public could come and sit in them, bring their children, and let their children sit in them and go for a ride in them. They're not immobile. They are moving art and so to enjoy them, you have to use them. Tom Smith: And how long ago did you actually execute on that dream that became a vision that became a reality? "We thought that we should invite the public, particularly, young children to sit in our cars. And go for a ride in them." Stanley Zimmerman: In the beginning, it was just car clubs coming and maybe bringing their families for meetings; it wasn't the general public. But in 2002, I was able to get the use of a large underground or semi-underground garage under a preschool, which they weren't using. And so we put our cars there and started with leaving a few cars out on the street with a sign on them, "There is a museum around the corner." In West Los Angeles it was. And so we'd get a few people coming in and then I decided that it would be worthwhile making it a public museum so that there are some tax benefits, but it also meant that the collection could go on. It wouldn't be limited by our lifetimes. And then we did that for, oh, three or four years before we had the opportunity to acquire this building in El Segundo,

Mike, Tom, and Tad in studio. Tom takes an Uber, Mike has a plan, and together they failed. With that out of the way, the shows as of late are really full of good info from good people. Shane T, Paul Yaw, Ben Strader and now... Greg Banish. Greg has a very different perspective from most calibrators (tuners). Greg has worked with GM, Ford, Saleen, Lotus, and Roush. He has seen the inside of how the sausage is made for what we drive, or lust after, every day. Think about that. Guys like Greg are the reason what we drive does in fact have the mannerisms we expect a factory car. Greg explained more than a few items from the OEM perspective and tied them in from a performance standpoint. The direct injection side was particularly interesting to us. Greg has also authored books relating to the performance calibration field as well as video productions on the same subjects. Check for the books on Amazon, I know Mike bought some already. Maxi-early Garage Hour right here: Dirty Dave and Hostus Maximus Justin Fort continue their adventures in big AM talk with their sixth-ever show. It's also one of the early seguefests, with repeated attempts to dig into the device-addled shame that is distracted driving thwarted by IEDs andTV versus AM and the unending debate that is double-A batteries versus 5.56. With visits to Carroll Shelby and Steve Saleen's... bankruptcies... (who's more broke?), Lutz versus Leno, Max "I Love Hitler" Mosley versus Ari Vattanen and Jean Todt, Ralph Nader and Vince Neil, the birth of the Garage Hour's broadcast superiority is under way. It's all optimism, though, as the Garage Hour goons make their level best effort to find the sunny side of things, even if that thing is our prescienct visions for Red China's disturbing expansionism in the Pacific. It's not just that good stuff, though - we've got 4Runner brake swaps, Tundra parts for small Toyotas, the F-22, Miata spring & swap swaps, ugly rockers, Goatsnake awesomeness ("Burial at Sea", anyone?), Texas's solution to its idiots, Darmwin's love for the same, and Honda's battle with Brawn F1 and Porsche. Remember, just because you don't advocate violence doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.
Steve Saleen - Visionary, Race Car Driver, and Entrepreneur! The post TMCP #250: Steve Saleen – Visionary, Race Car Driver, and Entrepreneur first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.
Untested host Justin Fort tried one of his rare solo appearances for this Garage Hour, completing an hourlong rant aimed at one of Barry O's first failures, the Cash for Clunkers program (which succeeded in very little beyond taking away good used cars from people who needed them). Between heady tirades about bad government, bad unions, bad deals for taxpayers and bad Clunkers math, this early Garage Hour also contains early Boris Said and road-racer worship, early emasculation of bankrupting fool Steve Saleen, early promos for Barona dragstrip, and early on-air fail and car crash humor for the Lambo flag in your life. Try one on - Garage Hours don't get much earlier than this.
Adam Carolla and Steve Saleen talk about Steve's background, the S7 Supercar and the new SMS 570X Challenger and his Daughters Mollypop Pink Mustang. Then a quick lane change into Investments cars. Adam and Sandy come up with some interesting choices as usual. A quick pitstop with Skype calls. Ace and the Professor talk one end of of the road to the other with Replica cars to box stock Mustangs. And yes, you guessed it, we feature one of Adam's Italian cars, his Dino Ferrari 308GT4 and then a wrap with John Salley's First Car. Enjoy
