Hey Friend, Welcome to the Start That Business podcast, where we help Jesus-led career moms turn their expertise into their first coaching or consulting business in just 12 weeks. If you're a Jesus-led career mom ready to launch your coaching business but keep wondering, "Who exactly am I called to help?" - this episode is FOR YOU. This is part 2 of my Business Book Review series, where I'm sharing 4 powerful books that have shaped me as a Jesus-led entrepreneur. Today we're diving into Nail Your Niche by Brian Ellwood - and it's a total game-changer. Here's what you'll discover: You're called to serve a previous version of you. Your ideal client might be you from a few steps ago. This makes niche work so much easier and more spirit-led! (2 Corinthians 1:4 - God comforts us so we can comfort others) Choose clarity over being cute. Stop trying to "niche cute" with lots of fancy words and zero focus. Brian emphasizes outcomes over identity - what's the actual RESULT you help people get? You'll get the exact formula I use to create my I help statement. Plus, I'm sharing my own “a-ha!” moments from reading this book, which gave me clarity and helped me get laser-focused in my brand message. By the end of this podcast, you'll have clarity, confidence, and a clear niche statement. You'll walk away with practical tools to discover who you're called to serve with Christ at the center. I pray this helps you take action! .

What happens after Israel escapes Egypt? In part two of our exploration of “service” in Exodus, Matthew Delaney and Dr. Nathan French pick up where the story left off—moving from liberation to covenant, from slavery to worship. We trace the development of this theme through key moments in Exodus 15–40, including the image of God vs. the images of idols, the meaning of Sabbath, and the construction of the tabernacle. Along the way, we reflect on the relationship between salvation and obedience and how God's presence reshapes what it means to truly serve. This episode offers a deeper look at how the Exodus story calls God's people to a new kind of life.Listen to part 1 here: Biblical Wisdom Video Course: https://hebrewbibleinsights.teachable.com/p/biblicalwisdomChapters0:00-7:57 Review of “service” in Exodus 1–147:58-14:42 Salvation, Covenant, and Works14:43-32:53 Image of God vs images of gods33:04-42:38 The service of Sabbath42:39-48:22 Slavery, apologetics, and Bible study48:23-1:05:12 Tabernacle and the presence of GodJoin the Hebrew Bible Book Club https://www.patreon.com/hebrewbibleinsights WHERE TO FIND US Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/hebrewbibleinsights YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLRSNQ7xVw7PjQ5FnqYmSDA Podcast Platforms: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2268028/share Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_hebrewbibleinsights/ TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@hebrewbibleinsights Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HebrewBibleInsights Website: https://www.hebrewbibleinsights.com
"A disciple is not above his teacher," said our master; "but everyone when he is fully trained will be LIKE his teacher" (Luke 6:40). In the past, we were predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ (Rom 8:29). In the present, we are being changed into His likeness by the Spirit (2 Cor 3:18). In the future, we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him in a fullness we can only dream of (1 John 3:2). In this podcast, we ask what it means to be "formed" into His likeness. The sermon today is titled "Spiritual Formation." This sermon is the twelfth installment in our series "Follow Me," and is the first in the sub-series "More Like Jesus." The Scripture reading is from Luke 6:40 (ESV). Originally preached at West Side Church of Christ (Searcy, AR) on May 25, 2025. All lessons fit under one of 6 broad categories: Begin, Instill, Discover, Grow, Learn, and Serve. This is a “wow your friends” wine if there ever was one! Serve this wine, have them guess what it is, and then amaze them with your wine knowledge. Assyrtiko is sometimes called THE Greek wine - the most famous and iconic of Greek wines - and yet not enough people know about it or talk about it. Made for thousands of years, Assyrtiko is the rare white wine that keeps its wonderful acidity even though it is most often grown in warm climates. Keep that in mind, because you might start seeing it grown more and more as climate change impacts the wine industry. You can see this in the episode artwork, but on Santorini they use this cool technique where they train the vines to grow in circles, almost like a wreath, to protect it from the wind. What is also wonderful about this wine is that we found two great wines in this episode, and each was different from the other. One was more of a Chardonnay lover's wine, and the other more of a Sauvignon Blanc lover's wine. But both were worth seeking out. Summer is here—and while kids are counting down the days until school's out, parents and grandparents might be counting something else: the cost. The good news? Set up a tent in your yard, roast marshmallows, and tell stories under the stars. Take time to reflect on God's handiwork with your kids. Psalm 8:3–4 reminds us how the majesty of creation points us to the Creator who cares for us deeply.5. Host a Yard SaleLet your kids gather items, make signs, and manage a mini storefront. It's not only a great way to declutter—it also teaches stewardship, contentment, and even generosity. If your kids choose to give a portion of the proceeds to someone in need, you're planting seeds of compassion early.6. Visit local parks, walk trails, or bike together through a nearby preserve. Instead, focus on how you can wisely steward the time and relationships God has given you. After all, the best summer memories are built with presence, not purchases. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm looking into annuities, and I know nothing about the risks. What does it take to establish a strong foundation for church work formation and recruitment in the culture of our congregations, schools, and the larger church body? The Rev. Dr. Lucas Woodford (President of the LCMS Minnesota South District, Regent at Concordia University St. Paul, and Associate Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Farmington, MN) and the Rev. David Nehrenz (President of the LCMS Oklahoma District and Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, OK) join Andy and Sarah to talk about their paths to becoming a pastor and district president, how each of their districts is forming and recruiting church workers, why a mindset for formation and recruitment is important, why collaboration on growing a culture of church work formation across the LCMS is important, why it's particularly crucial to have the support and collaboration of schools in this culture, and the benefits each has seen so far from these collaborative efforts in Set Apart to Serve in their districts and across Synod. Christ's church will continue until He returns, and that church will continue to need church workers. Set Apart to Serve (SAS) is an initiative of the LCMS to recruit church workers. Together, we pray for workers for the Kingdom of God and encourage children to consider church work vocations. Here are three easy ways you can participate in SAS: 1. Pray with your children for God to provide church workers. 2. Talk to your children about becoming church workers. 3. Thank God for the people who work in your congregation. Send us a textWhat does it truly mean to serve others in today's disconnected world? Blake Burkhart is redefining success through authentic service and community impact in Northeast Ohio. From walking onto his college football team despite doubters telling him he was "too small" to now transforming lives through his work at Royalty Roofing, Blake embodies the underdog spirit that refuses to quit. His approach to business goes far beyond transactions—offering free repairs to those in need and building genuine connections with every client he serves."I feel like I'm more than a roofer," Blake shares, recounting stories of tarping damaged roofs at no charge and the surprised reactions when homeowners learn they won't be billed. This servant-leader mentality stands in stark contrast to the high-pressure tactics common in his industry, where most companies last only 3-5 years. What drives this 27-year-old's uncommon dedication? A grounding in faith, the unwavering support of his fiancée and a profound belief that we're called to help one another regardless of differences. Blake laments how technology and political division have eroded our sense of community: "People forgot the one thing—it's not whose side you're on, it's that we're there to be together."His message resonates with universal truth: "Live with patience, with a little more faith in yourself and others... inch by inch, day by day, you will get to where you want to go if you believe in yourself." In a world hungry for authentic connection, Blake's journey offers both inspiration and a practical roadmap for making a meaningful impact.Ready to be inspired? God has a secret place of protection and it shelters us from all harm. As we learn to dwell in it, we are safe and secure in our Father's love. This is a study of Psalm 91. http://www.prayerdrive.com/
In this short podcast episode, Bryan talks about some no-serve situations he's encountered as a technician and HVAC business owner. He also talks about situations that may be unpleasant but aren't quite no-serve situations. Some common and obvious no-serve situations are when a client threatens a technician, especially with lawsuits, bad reviews, or even bodily harm. However, some clients are just naturally defensive, so we want to be careful and give people a chance if they're angry and might just need to calm down. Unrealistic expectations can also cause no-serve situations. Some complaints are tricky to deal with but can be solved, but other problems are impossible to solve. We have every right not to serve clients who have problems that don't have realistic solutions (such as wanting a thermostat that doesn't make a clicking noise at all). In those cases, Kalos usually gives some degree of a refund and agrees not to do business with the customer again. Dirtiness of the living space can also be a no-serve situation. Unless a home is dangerously filthy (e.g., it can cause a respiratory disease) or the equipment is not accessible, we can serve them. Even if the home is filthy or the equipment is inaccessible, we can ask the owner to clean up and return to serve them. On the other side of the coin, hypochondriacs can be a challenge to deal with, but no-serve situations are rare; we can take precautions, including more thorough testing and hold-harmless agreements. Other no-serve situations are people who don't pay, people who regularly pay extremely late, customers who aren't the owner (such as tenants or family members), and clients who try to drag you into drama with other contractors. In this episode of “Run a Profitable Gym,” Chris Cooper presents the leaderboard for gyms with the most paying members.Coop reveals what the leaders have in common: They all focus on improving business fundamentals—such as retention, staffing and repeatable systems—instead of chasing shiny objects such as ad campaigns.Another commonality: boosting average revenue per member (ARM) rather than just adding a ton of cheap, new members. To accomplish this, many have added high-value options such as small group training, personal training and Hyrox programming.Chris also shares real quotes from these leaders, including one from an owner whose gym halved its ad spend while increasing front-end revenue.Tune in to hear tips from top gym owners for growing your client headcount without spending your hard-earned profit on advertising.LinksGym Owners UnitedBook a Call 0:01 - Intro1:42 - Gyms with the most clients3:05 - What they have in common4:53 - Quotes from the leaders9:43 - CrossFit gyms in Europe
Finding Jesus in Unexpected Places // Stopping a Jesus Parade Mark 10:46-52 (NIV)“Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means ‘son of Timaeus'), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!' Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!' Jesus stopped and said, ‘Call him.' So they called to the blind man, ‘Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you.' Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. ‘What do you want me to do for you?' Jesus asked him. The blind man said, ‘Rabbi, I want to see.' ‘Go,' said Jesus, ‘your faith has healed you.' Immediately, he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.” Luke 4:16-21 (NIV)“He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: ‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.' Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, ‘Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.'" Father Richard John shares about his journey to the priesthood, the importance of hope and our call to serve and evangelize. Parish of the Week: St. Dominic Parish in Saginaw is our Parish of the Week. Their Parochial Administrator, Fr. Richard John, joins us today!Message from Fr. Richard John – Ordained in 2009, I have now journeyed 16 years as a priest, and I share this reflection as a thanksgiving to the Lord who called me. I come from the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, Telangana, in southern India, and currently serve as the Parochial Administrator at St. Dominic Parish since 2023.Three early influences shaped my vocation: my grandmother Margaret John, whose daily Rosary and devotion to St. Anthony inspired a prayer movement in our neighborhood; my father Aron John, a daily communicant who introduced me to the beauty of the Eucharist; and my first encounter with the story of Mother Teresa, whose radical commitment deeply moved me as a child. These seeds of faith were nurtured by my parish priest, and I joined the seminary in 1998 after 10th grade.Growing up in a joint family of modest means, financial struggles were common. I often joined sports camps at school just for the meals. Yet, through God's providence and support like CFCA sponsorship from Sr. Shirley Ruder, a Dominican nun from Michigan, I could continue my education.Despite health challenges during formation, I experienced healing that confirmed my call. Over the years, I've served in various ministries — from being assistant to the archbishop, to working at St. Anthony's Shrine, teaching, radio ministry, and youth outreach. My path to Saginaw in 2022 was guided by God's providence, facilitated by friends, Fr. Raj, Fr. Bill and Bishop Gruss. I remain grateful to the Lord, the bishop, fellow clergy, and parishioners whose support makes this mission meaningful. Thank you

Ram Dass explores the culture surrounding LSD in 1977, and how he has no desire to legislate how other people live their lives. He shares his guru's instructions for using the “yogi medicine” and talks about whether or not it's important to have a guide for psychedelic experiences. Finally, Ram Dass cautions that “getting high and seeing” is only one part of the process of change, and there are inner processes necessary to bring about change in life. He discusses the cultural evolution brought about by psychedelics and the shifts in consciousness he sees taking place. The Ram Dass community gathers regularly to engage in meaningful discussions about the podcast. We invite you to join us and share your curiosities, insights, and wisdom.
