We've been diving headfirst into the health rabbit hole, and frankly, we're not sure if we came out better or just more confused. On this episode, we tried to sound like we know what we're talking about as we explored everything from holistic doctors (who tell you your favorite snack is basically poison) to the ancient, confusing art of grounding (are we just supposed to hug a tree?). We also tackled the great health debate: supplements vs. whole foods. Why take a synthetic pill when you can just eat an entire kale farm, right? Oh, and did we mention parasites? Yes, we went there. Because nothing says "funny podcast" like discussing the creepy crawlies potentially residing inside you. We also shared some questionable home remedies that probably won't cure you, but might give you a good story. Then, we veered wildly into the chaos that is modern life! We lamented the utterly unrealistic health goals plastered all over social media—seriously, who has time for perfect yoga poses AND a pristine lawn? Speaking of which, we complained bitterly about the soul-crushing labor of lawn care before moving onto the even greater torment: fishing with our children. (Spoiler: it involves a lot of untangling and zero fish.) To top it all off, we reminisced about the trauma of our childhood pets, finally concluding with the truly brilliant idea one of us had to own a piranha. Because clearly, we never learned any life lessons about boundaries or common sense. Basically, we proved that health, parenting, and pet ownership are all just a series of absurd, hilarious mistakes.
What if the secret to high-performing teams isn't more strategy, but more alignment?

Welcome back to Breadcrumbs & Broomsticks, the Thursday companion to our Heir of Fire season. This is where we step out of the strict chapter-bound analysis, and step into the theory pit. In this spoiler-friendly episode, Jac and Amy read listener submissions and talk through the biggest discourse moment of these chapters: Rowan punching Aelin. We expand on reader reactions, unpack whether this moment earns its place in the arc, and dig into the foreshadowing this scene plants for their future dynamic, trust, and eventual reversal of power. We also chase down theories tied to: Maeve's manipulation & long game (who benefits from restraint?) the symbolism of mist / cold / the moon-white imagery Manon's wyvern introduction + what that unlocks later Dorian, Sorscha, Chaol, and the political fuse that's already quietly smoldering This is where your thoughts get center stage — from “Rowan was unforgivable here” to “this is deliberate low point arc engineering,” to “SJM is mirroring Aelin/Rowan with Manon/wyverns on purpose.” Full spoilers are allowed for all future Heir of Fire chapters and the rest of the Throne of Glass series. "Hammer + Echo" Getting their start in the early '80s, the Kilkenny Cats were one of the most fascinating bands at a time when there were a lot of fascinating bands around. Formed by the North Carolina born Tom Cheek, who had relocated to Athens, Georgia for college, the Kilkenny Cats played a dark and moody blend of post-punk and psychedelia that still, after all these years, feels decidedly timeless. Here's what I mean by that--sometimes when you listen to a band you can hear the years they existed. We won't name. names, but you know what I mean--however, when it comes to the Kilkenny Cats, their music was so singular, they elude the timeline. Although their fellow city dwelling comrades ranged from REM to Pylon to Love Tractor, they were their own thing. Alive with jangling guitars, prowling basslines, foreboding drums and sonorous vocals, the Kilkenny Cats' music was awash in mystery and maybe that's why all these years later, they still sound as pressingly relevant as ever. They were a beloved live act, they had a deal with Twin/Tone, played shows with REM and Husker Du and then? Well, then decades of silence. Why? Well, that's what we're here to figure out and Tom Cheek walks us through it all. Spoiler alert: The 'Cats are back and more music in addition to the wonderful expanded reissue of 1988's Hammer + Echo, will be coming. Now, with Monica's bequest, Tracy seizes the chance to make her mark on the mansion's legacy. GH spoilers reveal Monica's bequest not only affects Tracy but also ripples throughout the Quartermaine family. Fans are intrigued by the prospect of Tracy possibly evicting some family members, particularly Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), who did not believe Tracy when she was accused of drugging Ronnie Bard (Erika Slezak). Other potential shifts include Tracy's grandson Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza), who Tracy adores, moving back into the mansion, and the addition of a pizza oven for Olivia, which could potentially bring a new Thanksgiving tradition to the Quartermaine household. Daily Soap Opera Spoilers by Soap Dirt (GH, Y&R, B&B, and DOOL)
Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Bold and the Beautiful spoilers anticipate the wedding ceremony of Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton). With the nuptials likely to take place during the November sweeps, the potential for drama is high. Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) is expected to crash the ceremony, despite being explicitly uninvited by Hope, Liam, and their daughter Beth Spencer (Jordyn Lynn Ariza). Sheila's current husband, Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), may also reconsider his relationship with Sheila due to her insistence on attending the wedding. B&B spoilers hint Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) might make an unexpected appearance. While his presence is unlikely to halt the ceremony, it would certainly shake things up. However, there could be some good news amidst the drama. Hope's adoptive son, Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri), may surprise everyone by showing up at the wedding, a turn of events that would undoubtedly delight Hope. Spoilers for Bold and Beautiful suggest a twist could occur if Hope asks her stepsister, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), to serve as her matron of honor. This gesture would symbolize the bond that they've developed, despite their shared history with Liam. Finally, another unwelcome guest, Remy Pryce (Christian Weissmann), may crash the wedding. More B&B spoilers indicate Deke Sharpe (Harrison Cone) may play a significant role in designing Hope's wedding dress, and Beth is slated to officiate the ceremony. The presence of other characters like Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), Katie Logan (Heather Tom), Eric Forrester (John McCook), and Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) will make the event even more dramatic. Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt On Days of our Lives spoilers indicate fan-favorite Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) is set to return to Salem bearing exciting news of her engagement. The NBC soap opera has yet to reveal the identity of her mystery fiancé, leaving audiences in suspense. The upcoming Horton Clinic Gala will serve as the platform for Sami's big announcement. The storyline also reveals that Sami will be meeting her newest grandchild, John Roman DiMera III - called Trey, the offspring of Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens). DOOL spoilers reveal Sami's return is not due to the show's demands but stems from Sweeney's successful career in Hallmark movies, which only allows her to make brief appearances in Salem. Her last significant plot on Days of our Lives involved a tumultuous romance with Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo), who kidnapped her out of fear of losing her to EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). The truth was revealed at the altar, resulting in Lucas's imprisonment and an end to their relationship. Spoilers for Days of our Lives are speculating who Sami's mystery fiancé might be, it seems unlikely that it's her ex, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) or EJ DiMera, who remains in love with Belle Black (Martha Madison). The most probable candidate is Lucas Horton, given actor Brian Dattilo's return for November sweeps and the soap's 60th anniversary. The future of search, using the exposure effect to build trust, and adapting your content strategy for 2026. ----- Welcome to episode 543 of The Food Blogger Pro Podcast! This week on the podcast, we're bringing our very own Emily Walker (Associate General Manager, Food Blogger Pro) back to chat with Bjork about the articles we shared in our latest blogging newsletter! Food Blogging News Roundtable: Black Friday Strategies, New Raptive Requirements, and a Guide to GEO for 2026 In this episode, Bjork Ostrom and Emily Walker discuss the latest articles from the Food Blogger Pro blogging newsletter. They talk about where digital marketing is headed and how to make sure your brand doesn't get left behind. Spoiler alert: If you're only focused on Google, you're missing out! Bjork and Emily break down the reality that users under 45 are looking for answers across an average of five different platforms (yes, we're talking TikTok, Reddit, and all the rest). We delve into the exposure effect, which is a fancy way of saying that the more consistently people see you in different places, the more they trust you. Tune in to learn why adapting your content (aka not just copying and pasting) to fit all of those channels is your biggest opportunity right now for brand discovery and building genuine credibility with your audience! Three episode takeaways: Search is multi-platform now: People under 45 are using an average of five platforms (hello, TikTok and Reddit!) to search for things. If your brand is only visible on one, you're missing out on serious discovery. Use the "exposure effect" to build trust: This concept shows that the more often people see your brand pop up across different channels, the more credible and trustworthy you become. Consistency is the key to building audience loyalty! Adapt your content strategy: Since readers are everywhere, your content has to evolve. You need to tailor your approach; think short-form videos, engaging in forum discussions, etc. to fit the specific demands of each platform for better engagement. 323 – You've probably heard of the destruction of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem when the Roman army destroyed it in 70 AD.But have you ever wondered how that event is relevant to us today? What can you and I learn from the destruction of Jerusalem, now almost 2,000 years later?Well, actually there's a lot we can learn and my guest this week, Ward Sanford, and I are going to dig into some important lessons we need to learn, individually and collectively as the church, that can make all the difference how we function in the world. In this tactical episode of Your Anti-Social Advantage, I'm breaking down the three essential ingredients of a marketing system that works while you rest. You'll walk away knowing exactly what you need to build a lead-generating, values-aligned business without being glued to your phone. Spoiler alert: it's way simpler than you've been told. Rooting for you ~ Gabe New to the podcast? Joining me this week is Dr. Peter Vermeulen, psychologist, author, and founder of Autism in Context. Peter has spent more than 35 years helping families, educators, and clinicians better understand autism and what it truly means to live a happy, meaningful life. Together we explore: - Why happiness and well-being deserve as much attention as therapies or interventions for autistic individuals - and what we can learn from autistic people who are thriving. - How reframing "stereotyped interests" as passions and talents can open doors to meaning, confidence, and even careers. - Why predictability is so essential for autistic children's sense of safety and how parents can build that into daily routines and relationships to foster a secure attachment bond. - Just like you feed your child before they get hangry, how parents can "pre-regulate" their child's nervous system throughout the day to prevent overload, meltdowns, and dysregulation. - Why autistic children absolutely do form attachments — and how differences in communication and perception can lead to misunderstandings in connection, not an absence of it. - Practical ways to nurture love and security (Spoiler: things like creating predictable rituals, using concrete symbols, establishing shared routines to strengthen your bond, and more!) Peter's message is both deeply compassionate and hopeful: autistic individuals are capable of happiness, love, and purpose — and when we meet them with curiosity and respect for how their brains see the world, we can help them build lives filled with meaning and joy. Send Jackie A Message! If you've ever said, “I just need to find the right intro offer,” this episode is for you. Today, we'll break down one of the most common myths in the yoga and Pilates industry: that there's a perfect intro offer or price point that will magically fill your classes. Spoiler: there isn't.Instead, I'll show you what actually determines your success: whether your intro offer matches your main offer, how you're converting through connection, and if you've tested with enough volume to know what's really working. You'll walk away with a clear framework to stop guessing, stop copying competitors, and start building a system that converts real humans — not just numbers on a spreadsheet.Key TakeawaysThere's no “best” intro offer — success comes from strategy, not luck.Your intro offer should teach the same behavior as your main offer.Conversion happens through connection, not constant tinkering. If you haven't yet, check out the free workshop using the link below, and learn about the 3 marketing mistakes I see yoga and Pilates teachers and studio owners making all too often (and how you can fix them!).Work with Jackie Murphy Say Hi on Instagram @studioceoofficial Level up your Marketing Skills in the Free Marketing Training:https://www.jackiegmurphy.com/3-marketing-mistakes Learn more about The Studio CEO Program: https://www.jackiegmurphy.com/studioceo
Welcome to Episode 246! We recap some fun Biblioadventures in this episode. Emily got to see Mel Rosenthal in conversation with Virginia Evans about her debut novel The Correspondent at an event hosted by RJ Julia Booksellers. Chris had a research visit to Columbia University's Rare Book and Manuscript Library, where she enjoyed their book arts exhibit and admired the mantel in front of which Edgar Allan Poe wrote “The Raven.” She also had an impromptu browse at New Haven's used bookstore, Grey Matter Books. We also had some Couch Biblioadventures. Because we recently read Daphne Du Maurier's excellent short story, “The Birds,” we thought we'd also watch Alfred Hitchcock's movie of the same name, which was inspired by the written word. Spoiler alert: the movie is nothing like the short story. PSA: the birds are LOUD. Other literary-related movies we watched include The Turn of the Screw, starring Michelle Dockery and Dan Stephens. Emily made an exciting discovery about A Star is Born—did you know some famous writers penned the screenplays for various incarnations of this classic story? Some of the books we discuss include: – All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me by Patrick Bringley – Amelia Bloomer: Journalist, Suffragist, Anti-Fashion Icon by Sara Catterall – Death at the Door: A Ruby and Cordelia Mystery by Olivia Blacke – A Marriage at Sea: A True Story of Love, Obsession, and Shipwreck by Sophie Elmhurst And we discuss our second-to-last ghost story from The Penguin Book of Ghost Stories: From Elizabeth Gaskell to Ambrose Bierce: “The Readjustment” by Mary Austin. Chris has finished, and Emily is currently reading our Q4 readalong book, How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. The Zoom conversation is on Sunday, November 9th, at 7 pm ET. It is free and open to all, but registration is required. We still have a few spots available, so email us if you're interested (bookcougars@gmail.com). We've dug into the podcast vault to bring back a show from the first year of USModernist Radio. One of the best 80s films is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Here's the plot: near the end of the school year, high school senior Ferris Bueller (played by Matthew Broderick) fakes being sick to stay home. His parents believe him, though his sister Jeanie (played by Jennifer Grey, the baby you don't back into a corner) is not convinced. Ferris persuades his best friend Cameron (Alan Ruck) to help lure Ferris' girlfriend (Mia Sara) out of school and let them use his father's prized 1961 Ferrari. Spoiler: that Ferrari tumbles out of a really cool Modernist house, much to the chagrin of Cameron and his dad. Our pal Bob Langford, who pretty much knows every line in the movie, drops by to help us examine this cultural icon with guest Meghann Salamasick, who with her husband Chris are the owners of the that famous Modernist house. Later in the show, with apologies to Wayne Newton, it's George and Bob and Tom serenading Meghann.
