This interview is with Diego Valeri of Conur Wines. In this interview, Diego talks about his journey of becoming a professional soccer player with the Portland Timbers and eventually creating his own wine company.Diego talks about how creating a wine company was not actually his idea, but his wife, Florencia's scheme. However, Diego planned to wait until he retired to begin the endeavor. After nine reasons with the Timbers, Diego and his family moved to Florida where he met Frederico Garobbio and his wife Luci who were from the same area of Argentina. The stars aligned when Frederico revealed that it was his dream to produce wine. Diego discusses his connection to wine as the center of communication and celebration. To Diego, wine was always in the middle of socializing and friendship. As the company began with four Argentinians who live in the United States, the team wanted to put their blended cultures in the bottle. Along with what is inside the bottle, the design of the labels features a cartoon dog with a special meaning to the four owners. Florencia even writes a special story on the back of each label.Later in the interview, Diego talks about the uniqueness of Conur Wines. Specifically, Conur produces a white blend called “Mate” that blends Argentina and Oregon grapes. He also discusses his 70/30 blend of pinot and Malbec that mirrors a popular drink in Argentina. This interview was conducted by Rich Schmidt at Northwest Wine Company in Dundee on June 2, 2026.

Watching a couple great Republican candidates have success in the primaries in California is fun and it does signal something significant. But don't buy into the hype that Spencer Pratt or Steve Hilton will win their general elections. California is locked down by the dems in every way imaginable. 60 Minutes lead anchor Scott Pelley threw a giant hissy fit at the office Monday in front of the whole staff trashing his new boss. So the new boss wasn't the same as the old boss and fired Pelley. This is so good. Three Argentinian soccer fans on bicycles traveled over 10,000 miles the past 10 months to get to Kansas City. What we saw upon their arrival Tuesday was just great. NBA superstar Steph Curry is taking over $1 billion from a Chinese shoe and sportswear company that has long been known for inhumane conditions for workers... and so far there has been zero backlash because of Curry's liberal privilege. The Black Crowes get boo'd and have fans walk out of their concert in Florida after a USA chant breaks out. Royals closer Lucas Erceg is not the man for the job. Time for Daniel Lynch in that role. The Women's College World Series is set and Texas Tech is supposedly the team to hate. The NBA and NHL finals are underway, this will be a fun few days. And our Final Final is an incredibly ambitious plan for 50,000 people to permanantly live on a ship. You have to hear this.
The boys are back behind the scenes, and the World Cup is almost here.Seamus and Steve break down the wild Tim Payne phenomenon - how an All Whites right-back with 4,000 followers became bigger than the All Blacks in 48 hours after an Argentinian content creator made him the face of the tournament.Seamus has known Tim since he was 16, and with Between Two Goals heading into the exact camp that's now the most talked-about in world football, the dream scenario of exclusive access starts to take shape. Then it's all systems go for the trip: the daily Between Two Goals TV show following the All Whites across America and Canada, the mobile studio, walk-and-talk intros, and the small matter of Steve not knowing which city he's flying to.Plus reflections on two cracking recent episodes - former All Blacks manager Darren Shand on 20 years inside the machine, and futurist Frances Valentine - and a well-earned shout-out to the newly honoured Dame Susan Hassall. How do countries grow and develop most rapidly? Most economists would argue that openness to trade is an absolutely key factor, with specialisation leading to greater living standards for all. What happens though if your specialism is in something that doesn't earn enough to buy you the imports that you need? In other words are some specialisms superior? Could this lead to an unhealthy dependency on other countries? These challenges to conventional thought were raised by the Argentinian economist Raul Prebisch in the early 20th century. In this second episode of Season 9, your friendly neighbourhood economists Pete and Gav, discuss the life and times of this ‘outsider' and look at his continued influence today. As always there is a quiz, some musical suggestions and a discussion about the derivation of the word 'chimichurri'. Technical support as always comes from our good friend Nic - the Mario Kempes of the team.

There is something almost unfair about a player who has already rewritten the record books deciding he isn't finished yet. After a devastating Champions League heartbreak, Lautaro Martínez entered the 2025–26 season carrying the captain's armband, a new manager in Cristian Chivu, and a burning desire for redemption. What followed was a masterclass in leadership and the methodical dismantling of Italian football. In this episode, we unpack an unforgettable season for the Nerazzurri and their talismanic captain: How Lautaro unified the dressing room through a critical managerial transition, setting the tone for an unstoppable campaign.A look at the staggering numbers behind Inter's 21st Scudetto—cantering to the title with 85 points and a ruthless plus 54 goal difference.Breaking down Lautaro's second Capocannoniere title, an achievement that places him alongside the absolute icons of Inter Milan history. Celebrating the domestic double secured at the Stadio Olimpico with a clinical 2–0 victory over Lazio in the Coppa Italia final. We also discuss his unwavering loyalty to the club and why the Argentinian forward has officially built a permanent monument at San Siro. A leaked Pentagon memo suggesting the US could withdraw support for British sovereignty over the Falkland Islands has thrust the remote territory back into the global spotlight. The controversy revived memories of war in 1982, when the Argentinian junta attempted to assert their own claim to the islands. The scars of that conflict are still deeply felt – so could US statements renew fears of invasion? And what is life like for islanders today? This podcast was brought to you thanks to the support of readers of The Times and The Sunday Times. The month Javier Milei took over as president of Argentina in December 2023, monthly inflation was 25.5%. The annual rate for that year was 211%. Now, it's plummeted to 32% – still very high, but more stable.Milei, a right-wing populist famous for wielding a chainsaw on stage to make a point about fiscal conservatism, made cutting inflation a central part of his campaign. And yet economists like Can Cinar from City St George's, University of London, warn that Milei's battle against inflation is more of a mirage, than a miracle. In this episode, Cinar explains how Milei's government managed to cut inflation by deliberately suppressing people's wages, and the stark impact these policies are having on Argentinians. This episode was written and produced by Mend Mariwany and Gemma Ware with production assistance from Katie Flood. Michelle Kaufman joins the show to explain the growing tension between Inter Miami supporter groups and superstar Lionel Messi after fans staged a silent protest during the club's recent home match. Kaufman explains that “La Familia,” the collective name for Inter Miami's passionate supporter groups, became frustrated after players failed to acknowledge them following several recent home games, leading to an unusually quiet stadium atmosphere throughout most of the match. The conversation also covers fans changing the lyrics of an Argentinian chant to mock the players late in the game, while Kaufman emphasizes that these are loyal supporters who backed the club before Messi arrived and will remain long after he leaves. The segment also dives into Messi's relationship with the media, including the fact he has not spoken to local reporters in nearly three years, which Kaufman notes is highly unusual in American sports compared to other superstar athletes who regularly address the media win or lose.

We are fortunate to be joined by one of our favorite working filmmakers this week, the masterful Lucrecia Martel. In her first documentary, Martel tells the story of an indigenous Argentinian community facing colonialist forces in one of the most disturbing true crime stories you'll see this year. She brings the full power of film form to this complex story, exploring the ways pain is passed down through memory, and revealing how a trial is always more about theater than true justice. We also touch on the new restoration of her 2008 film "The Headless Woman." To hear Lucrecia's entire answers in her native Spanish, skip to 33:20. Interpretation by Cordelia Montes. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to. [x] Websters 1828 – Webster’s Dictionary 1828 – Probity > Primarily, tried virtue or integrity, or approved actions; but in general, strict honesty; sincerity; veracity; integrity in principle, or strict conformity of actions to the laws of justice. probity of mind or principle is best evinced by probity of conduct in social dealings, particularly in adhering to strict integrity in the observance and performance of rights called imperfect, which public laws to not reach and cannot enforce. ‘On This Day’ Related [x] WW3 – Albert Pike and the Three World Wars > The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the ‘agentur’ of the ‘Illuminati’ between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion. We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time. HELP SUPPORT US AS WE DOCUMENT HISTORY HERE: https://gogetfunding.com/help-keep-wam-alive/# Josh Sigurdson reports on the threat of an "immediate" takeover of Cuba according to President Donald Trump. As we've warned for the greater part of the last decade, Latin America would without a doubt be targeted as power shifts from west to east. Now we see aggression against Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and several other countries in the region under the guise of "stopping narco-terrorism" and ending communism/socialism. Most Cubans would agree that an end to the Cuban regime would be a good thing and there are no arguments there, just as most Venezuelans would agree that Maduro was a brutal dictator. The issue at hand is, one of the most nefarious entities on earth, the CIA taking over a country NEVER ends well for the country or its people. The now deceased Fidel Castro, born in Cuba to a rich family spent much of his time in the Dominican Republic and Colombia before launching one failed and one successful attempt at a Cuban takeover. Che Guevara who was Argentinian as his right-hand man helped force the country into a brutal communist dictatorship. Interestingly, both spent a considerable amount of time under mysterious pretenses in the United States leading up to the revolution and much information has shown the revolution was a CIA orchestrated psyop meant to be used to bring Americans to heel under fear of a communist invasion, specifically via the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was also very much aided by the west during World War 2. So, a CIA coup to bring fear to the masses may be ending with another CIA coup as President Trump jokes about sending the USS Abraham Lincoln to Cuba's shores. None of this is as it seems as we see a major power shift from west to east. None of this is about liberating the people of Cuba, nor Venezuela, nor Mexico where cartels have been armed and funded by both the United States and Israel. They're creating conflict so they can come in as the false solution and utilize order out of chaos to bring in a technocratic mega-state. Don't fall for it. As the national debt tops the GDP in the United States, as people suffer attempting to pay rent, as dependency is at an all time high, as the Strait of Hormuz crisis and the move on the Panama Canal devastate the supply chain by design, this is just the latest move in a major shift towards the Great Reset. This week's episode of the Business Brief podcast examines how Kansas City's Argentinian businesses are hoping to attract customers during the World Cup. Then, it features a conversation with an agricultural finance expert about this year's farm income projections in Missouri.
This week Sam, English Dan, Chris, Andrés and Santi B discuss a clásico mendocino that didn't go as expected for the first twenty seconds, but went very much to form thereafter as Independiente Rivadavia ran out 5–1 winners over Gimnasia de Mendoza. Boca Juniors also got a four-goal winning margin, while Riestra and River Plate both won by a couple. The playoff qualifiers aren't quite decided as we go into the last weekend of group stage action, but this is the final episode of the Torneo Apertura for us, because Sam's mate didn't consult Sam before deciding when to get married. This week Sam, English Dan, Chris, Andrés and Santi S gather to discuss a superclásico win for Boca Juniors that was narrow – and might have escaped them had a refereeing call right at the death gone the other way – but deserved, as Chacho Coudet's reign at River Plate hits its first bump in the road. Elsewhere there was another win for Newell's Old Boys, who seem to have remembered how to play football and a seven-goal thriller in Santiago del Estero among other results.
This week Sam, English Dan, Andrés and Santi S look at last week's league results and the midweek continental matches, both of which brought positive results for River Plate and Boca Juniors ahead of Sunday's superclásico. It was also a great week for Independiente Rivadavia.
