“ Yeah. We plan to replace the fleet by 2040. We can't scrap all of them now because each bus lasts 18 years. So we have the depreciation for 18 years. They're all from the U.K. All the buses are from the U.K. All the double-deckers. That's the only country that makes double-decker buses, and it's the same as Singapore. All the double-deckers are from the U.K. Because of COVID, when we replace all these diesel buses with electricity, you need a lot more power and electricity to accommodate this. So the government has to work with us. But today, we can't really see that if we import all these 4,000 electric buses to Hong Kong, there will be enough charging stations. We'll have to build a new depot that accommodates electric buses. So in Yuen Long, we're building a seven-storey, new depot that can charge 1,000 buses every night. But after we build it, the government has to give us the confidence that they can give us the power to charge these buses. So there's no point building a new depot if there's not enough electricity to charge it. So we're delaying it now. But the idea is still the same. We will have to replace it with green energy because it's much better for the environment.” - William Louey Fresh out of the studio, William Louey, 4th generation business leader of Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB), talks about his vision for transforming Hong Kong's public transportation system through sustainability and innovation. He discusses KMB's ambitious plan to electrify its bus fleet by 2040, highlighting the challenges of infrastructure, power supply, and government collaboration. He also shares his philanthropic efforts specifically on education and how they shaped the next generation of leaders to pay it forward. Cathy Bishop-Clark joins us from Ohio. ________________________ Bio Cathy Bishop-Clark recently retired after a 34-year career at Miami University of Ohio. She finished her career as Associate Provost of Miami's regional campuses.  and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences. She has a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, an M.S. in Quantitative Analysis and a doctorate in Educational Foundations.  Over a period of 34 years she taught a variety of computing classes and she has published over 40 articles and a book, most of which related to the scholarship of teaching and learning. She enjoys exercise and new adventures including hiking, kayaking, camping bicycling, learning new things, and traveling.  A couple years ago she rode her bicycle across America. She and her husband (who was a third grade teacher) have two adult daughters and a son-in-law. Cathy and her husband both retired a year ago.  While her husband has excelled at retirement, Cathy has found the transition more difficult.  To help her learn about that transition she took Joe Casey's group program, intensely studied retirement and taught a course on the topic of retirement this past Spring. ________________________ Mentioned in This Episode Riley Moynes Andy Robin Barbara O'Neill ________________________ Podcast Episodes You May Like If You Love Your Work, What Challenges Will You Face in Retirement? – Michelle Pannor Silver The Power of Reinvention – Joanne Lipman Live Life in Crescendo – Cynthia Covey Haller _________________________ Wise Quotes  On Having a Retirement Mentor "...and he talked about one thing that really resonated with me that I have paid attention to - and that is having a retirement mentor. You don't think about that right? Everybody thinks about having a work mentor. We have mentors at work and I had  done this in a way before I retired. I invited people who had retired to lunch and I said Okay what do I need to know about retirement? But the thing is everybody's retirement journey is so different and so some would say things like There's nothing to know about retirement. It's it's so easy and it's so great and there's nothing to learn. And other people would say Well, you know I struggled a lot with the schedule." And so interestingly, my retirement mentor has been the same career mentor that I had and she retired about five years ahead of me. I admire what she has done and so I continue to use her as my retirement mentor." On Trying New Things "So first for about a year a half, you just have a great big honeymoon. It's just fun, fun, fun, fun, fun. And then you start looking at different things to do. And then you start feeling a loss. Well, I think I simultaneously, like on day one, jumped in on all three things simultaneously. So I did vacation, in fact, and since we retired in May, I've been on nine different trips and I've been to Colorado many times, that's where my daughters are, Norway, Michigan, New York, Galapagos Islands. So we did lots of honeymooning and vacation. And then at the same time, I did a lot of experimentation. I took some new classes through a retirement group. I explored some new things, with my husband, we explored some new faith communities. We hired a personal trainer. I got into yoga. I started to deeply understand our financial planning. I had known it as a superficial level.

It's a debate being argued across school boards, politics, and family dinner tables: whether educators should be including gender identity and sexual orientation in their k-5 curriculums. At least 5 Canadian provinces and seven US states now require the inclusion of LGBTQ topics, while more conservative states like Florida have banned any mention of such language altogether. Conservative lawmakers and parents argue that teaching about gender identity is inappropriate and confusing for children who are too young to understand the complexity of this subject and its potential life altering consequences. Educators, driven by liberal ideology, are ignoring parents' wishes and using their classes to push their own political beliefs on impressionable youth. Progressives believe that as the number of children who identify as transgender and non-binary rises, teachers have an obligation to dispel misconceptions about gender and provide inclusive, safe environments for all students, especially the most vulnerable. Contrary to what some right-wing groups claim, you cannot alter or influence a person's gender identity through education, while banning its teaching altogether will cause emotional and mental distress to our most vulnerable youth. In this episode Caleb talks with Pastor Lewis Allen (ThM, Westminster Theological Seminary) who serves as senior pastor of Hope Church in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England, which he helped plant after twelve years of pastoring a church in West London. Together Caleb and Lewis think through the topic of facing criticism in both the Christian life and ministry. How do we handle critique in a biblical way? How do we offer or share critique of/with others? How do we use criticism, well meaning or not, as a tool for discipleship and sanctification? Like most moms, I've had countless battles with anxiety over the years, at times it's been debilitating. There are a few simple practices that I keep going back to over and over again. It can be easy to dismiss them because they are so simple, but I have found that consistency is key.  Do I believe feeling anxious is a sin? No. I believe anxiety is a weakness(part of being human) that can lead us into sin if left unchecked and unyielded to the Lord. Today I'm humbly sharing what I've learned over the last 55 years and praying that God will give you wisdom as you listen Resources mentioned in this episode: Our Family's Simple Routine  Morning Walking Benefits Psalm 84:11 Psalm 16:6 Psalm 16:8 1 Peter 3:17 Hebrews 12:7-11 1 Peter 5:9 Romans 8:18 Leaky Gut Diet Recipes Microbiome Mashup Dirty Dozen Clean 15 Attributes of God by AW Pink The Wonder of His Name (a study by Nancy Leigh DeMoss) CCEF (Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation): tons of great biblical counseling here on a variety of topics including anxiety and depression) The Unhurried Homeschooler Unhurried Grace for a Mom's Heart The Four-Hour School Day Homeschooling Today (P.S. Steve Estes is the senior pastor of Brick Lane Community Church in Elverson, PA. He's been there for around 40 years. He obtained an undergrad degree from Columbia Bible College (now Columbia International University) and a post-grad degree from Westminster Theological Seminary (WTS). He's on the board of CCEF (Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation) and has taught a course on preaching at WTS. Besides being a pastor and speaker, Steve is an author of several books. His book writing began with his friendship with Joni Eareckson Tada. They were friends as teenagers and worked through God's sovereignty in Joni's paralysis. Joni liked the writing style of Steve's letters and they co-authored two books together. Steve is married to Verna and they have eight grown children and 16 grandchildren. Steve is among my favorite preachers. My family and I recently worshiped with Brick Lane Community Church on my sabbatical, and Steve preached a wonderful message on the importance of other Christians in your life. Please listen to this message titled Help with Being Holy: The Means of Grace: Other Christians - Hebrews 10:23-25.
