Just like farmers in Wisconsin, Australian agriculturists have had to change their game plan often to stay financially viable. Bob Bosold talks with auctioneer/farmer/land broker, Daniel McCulloch, about how farms have pivoted to beef production and thoughtful selection of genetics. He also paints the picture of Australian land values that farms must manage.Severe weather is likely on the way for Wisconsin Monday and Tuesday. That's the outlook from Stu Muck. The relationship farms have with their lender has always been critical. Now with more generations involved in those conversations, it's important that bankers do more listening then talking. Charitee Seebecker hears about that strategy from Jack Kasel of the Anthony Cole Training Group.China’s effective duty rate on U.S. pork and pork variety meat has reached 172%, while U.S. beef and beef variety meat are tariffed at 147%. That essentially shut the door on U.S. meat sales there. John Herath with the U.S. Meat Export Federation explains what's at risk if things don't change. The NFL draft in Green Bay has concluded but not before Wisconsin agriculture had a chance at center stage. Pam Jahnke talks with cheese carving artist, Vicky Janisch, about her work headlining the NFL's "Taste of the Draft" before the big show. Janisch was charged with carving the Lombardi trophy out of a hunk of cheddar from Hooks Cheese in Mineral Point. Janisch's work was on display during the event hosted by GenYouth, a nonprofit created by America's dairy farmers and the NFL to shed light on food insecurity.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

JULIE BAUKE OF THE BAUKE GROUP JOINS DAWN LIVE!! JULIE EXPANDS ON THE PROMPTS BELOW INCLUDING... MIDDLE MANAGERS PURGE IN CORPORATE AMERICA? WOMEN LANDING LESS PROMOTIONS AND BONUSES? DOLLAR GENERAL SHUT DOWN WHEN ENTIRE WORKFORCE QUIT - AN EXAMPLE ON HOW TO RESTRUCTURE BEFORE THINGS FALL APART? JULIE SHARES HER THOUGHTS ON IT ALL... (Bloomberg)Middle managers—defined as non-executives who oversee employees—make up almost a third of terminations, up from 20% in 2018. In January, United Parcel Service said it would save more than $1 billion by slashing 12,000 manager jobs. Citigroup aims to eliminate 20,000 roles over the next several years.... And more might be coming; mentions of “operational efficiency” in the US hit the highest on record this earnings season, according to an analysis by Morgan Stanley. Read more. How can middle managers tell that a layoff might be coming? What can they do NOW to protect themselves? According to CNBC's Women at Work survey, fewer women are landing pay raises and promotions.SurveyMonkey conducted the study from late February to early March among a sample of nearly 20,000 adults, about half of whom are women... The most dramatic change from last year is that fewer women secured pay raises: just 39% this year, down from 44% last year. And 17% of women say their salary is actually lower than it was a year ago, up from 15% of respondents who reported a pay decline last year. Women are facing setbacks not just in pay, but also with promotions. Eighteen percent of women — the same percentage as last year — said their career has experienced a setback, while 20%, just a hair below the prior year, said their career has advanced. How can women approach their boss to land better pay and promotions? (New York Post)A Dollar General store in Wisconsin was forced to briefly shut down after its entire workforce quit, citing seven-day work weeks and a “lack of appreciation.” Read more. Daily Mail: Six staff members, including manager Trina Tribolet, at the Mineral Point store did not show up to open doors on March 9 and instead left a handmade sign saying they quit the night before.Tribolet said that she had been working seven days a week for months because, as the manager, she was only allotted so many paid hours to give to her staff. She also noted that the past weekend was her first break from work since Christmas. 'This is something we've been talking about the last couple months. Until Friday night when we walked away, this weekend was my first time off since Christmas,' the manager told Wisconsin TV station 9News. While one sign at the front of the store read 'We quit!' another sign explained that the 'whole team has walked away due to a lack of appreciation, being overworked and being underpaid...' Tribolet said that while there were many issues with the store, the “last straw” was seeing Dollar General throw an exorbitant amount of items in the trash despite touting that it donates items to the local community. “We're throwing away coffee that's not expired but it's close. Or you're throwing out a box of Lucky Charms that you know there's a whole world of kids who would love to eat those. But you can't donate them out, because you're supposed to throw them away,” Tribolet told Spectrum. “There have been tears that have been shed.” Dollar General argued in a statement to Spectrum that it does work with Feeding America, but the organization has specific guidelines about what can be donated. Feeding America's corporate donation guidelines explicitly state that “food approaching expiration” is welcome. Its website also lists canned goods as great donations, which Tribolet claims get thrown away at Dollar General, according to Spectrum. “It's sickening, and it's saddening, especially for someone that has morals,” Tribolet told the outlet. “If you've ever been at the bottom and never had anything, you know what it feels like to see items get thrown away. That could have gone to somebody that needed them.” What's the best way for workers to respond if you feel your employer is mistreating you? Julie Bauke (rhymes with NOW-kee) can offer advice. She is Founder and Chief Career Strategist with The Bauke Group. Julie also worked for 16 years in HR. Lead mining is one of the oldest industries in Wisconsin, and with it, comes some of the oldest tales and stories of the strange and bizarre. Mineral Point, and the hills of southwestern Wisconsin, is home to some of our most unique architecture, beautiful landscapes, as well as apparent centuries-old paranormal happenings. Although today this area is an artist's haven, in the early decades of the 19th century, it was a rough and tumble region rife with miners, gamblers, and drifters, where crime was prevalent, and law enforcement was not. Lead mining led to an influx of European immigrants and those looking to strike it rich, and with them came stories and legends already generations old. Scott and Mickey discuss these "Ghosts of the Gray Gold," including purported vengeful spirits, phantoms, the mysterious 'tommyknockers,' and even vampires. In the beginning banter, we discuss the latest in the Taylor Schabusiness saga, as well as the recent UAP hearings in front of Congress. Apple orchards are such a treat during a Wisconsin fall – enjoy the fruit dunked in caramel, put in a pie or just right off the tree. And she grows one-of-a-kind varieties to make hard ciders. She says this unique agriculture venture is sparking interest among new growers. Wisconsin seems to have a pretty good sense of humor about its clichés. Beer? Brats? Cheese? Bring it on. And if we’re making a list, let’s add polka! He is also a former state archeologist and retired professor from UW-Waukesha andhas authored several books on historic sites in the state. Mr. Birmingham discussed how Aztalan wasessentially the state's first city and home to the original agricultural sites. Further settlements werediscussed and how they changed based on diet, available resources, weather, health, and potentialhostilities from animals and other people. Native Americans in Wisconsin built effigy mounds – by mostcounts 15,000 – 20,000 of them - across the state. Eric, Ana, and Mr. Birmingham discuss many of thosethat have been recognized and preserved, including at Lizard Mound State Park, which was recentlyupgraded from a county park in Washington County. Other locations include Wyalusing State Parkwhere the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers meet, Man Mound National Monument near Baraboo,Pendarvis in Mineral Point and other state historic sites. The history of mining, particularly lead, was alsodiscussed as it was incredibly influential to the state's history, even leading to the state's mascot beingthe “Badgers” and the initial fur trade that established connections between European explorers andsettlers and the Native Americans already in the state. News released on November 15th highlighted intercepts from these 4 drill holes: Hole iRH22-55, which returned 60.2 g/t gold, 908.7 g/t silver, 1.1% zinc & 15.7% lead over 10.0 metres, including 83.2 g/t gold, 1261.0 g/t silver, 1.5% zinc, & 22.1% lead over 7.0 metres Hole iRH22-51, which returned 33.0 g/t gold, 3010.0 g/t silver & 63.5% lead over 0.6 metres and 3.1 g/t gold, 683.3 g/t silver & 37.6% lead over 14.6 metres. Hole iRH22-53, which returned 1.9 g/t gold, 631.3 g/t silver, 7.4% zinc & 33.0% lead over 18.3 metres Hole iRH22-54, which returned 0.6 g/t gold, 374.1 g/t silver, 3.9% zinc & 20.2% lead over 20.8 metres, and At the expanded exploration program at Ruby Hill, only 25 holes have been released thus far, with 45 more holes that have been drilled, at both the Ruby Deeps gold zone and the Hilltop Zone CRD zone, and in the near-term some drill results will be released from a second deeper zone of interest at the Hilltop Zone. Next, we discussed how the Company has the current oxide gold processing plant at Ruby Hill, that could eventually transition over to a full base metals processing plant if the mineralization keeps expanding at the Hilltop Zone and return similar grades and thickness. We wrap up by also highlighting that in addition to the Company's total current gold resource resources of 14.5 million ounces of gold, that they also have an additional 180 million ounces of silver, most of which (170 million ounces of the silver resources) are at the nearby Mineral Point zone of Ruby Hill, and nearby the Hilltop Zone. If you have questions for Ewan regarding the ongoing work and strategy at i-80 Gold Corp, then please email us at either Fleck@kereport.com or Shad@kereport.com. * In full disclosure, Shad is an existing shareholder of I-80 Gold Corp

He found his way into many roles in education and fostered a strong interest in literacy as well as engagement with readers and writers. -What have I learned around literacy and leadership? This is where this book was born, Leading Like a C.O.A.C.H.: 5 Strategies for Supporting Teaching and Learning. -Educational Improvement- Matt used to have more of a linear approach. Coming into administration, he thought he could present an idea, then teachers would adopt them, and schools would improve. He realized everyone is coming from a slightly different angle as to what is best practice. It is way more complex than this. He has learned he has to engage with every teacher and build deep trust. Therefore, knowing where each teacher is and being able to work from there is the best starting point for improvement. -Instructional walks are powerful. We need to be leading as a learner, in a more reciprocal and mutually beneficial relationship with faculty, which has better results with everyone's learning, including his own. -Leading like a C.O.A.C.H.- Matt likes to: Pay attention to myself and others. Be mindful of how he is feeling. Listen first and hear where they are coming from. Use paraphrasing. Shift from giving advice and needing to know everything to asking more questions, listening deeply, and being the listener first. Allow others to solve their problems when possible. C-Creating Confidence through Trust O-Organizing Around a Priority A- Affirming Promising Practices - noticing and naming strengths already present C- Communicating Feedback H- Help Teachers Become Leaders and Learners - Support self directness -Building confidence and trust is always at the forefront. When we are clear on what we are working on in order to press forward together more progression is made. -Make sure we honor the difficulties and loneliness of teaching. Be empathetic and also provide perspective. -Instructional Walks - Take a photo and put it in a brief email to follow up with that educator. It is his opportunity to build context. Write down what you see and hear as a narrative. Give that feedback from an affirming stance. - Collects the narrative and notes in a digital drive in order to show educators the wins they are having with their kids. He documents how he is in their corner, and also is able to build from moving forward. We need to recognize the good first, and then hear the feedback. We help them to create an artifact of what they do everyday and a case as to how they are effective. We share the wins they are getting with kids. Teachers also collect artifacts for themselves. -If you are recognized first you are much more receptive to feedback. -Get into classrooms and just start to document five or six words of what you noticed. Get to every classroom, then take the time to reflect on your own as an administrator, or with a coach around trends or patterns we are seeing. Then communicate these to staff. From there, we can design professional learning around those goals. This is where collective commitments can come into play and have tremendous power. -Leaders need to know literacy - Regie Routman -Pausing is the superpower. I have never gotten in trouble or made a mistake when I did not say something. It has always been when I said something and wished I could have taken it back.

One of the Dairy State's most notorious hauntings, The Ridgeway Phantom, terrorized the Old Military Ridge Road that ran from the Fox Valley in the Northeast to Prairie du Chien in the Southwest of the state. From the 1840s, residents of the Driftless area near Ridgeway have spoken about the phantom, who acts more like a troublemaker and trickster than a traditional ghost as he stalks the road. But how could the Ridgeway Phantom have been influenced by the traditions of the Welsh and Cornish lead miners who had been coming to the area by the tens of thousands? And how similar was it to a contemporary legend happening on their home island at the exact same time. Over a century later, reports of a strange creature starting happening in Mineral Point just a few miles away. How are the cases connected and are there any recent eye witness reports of the Ridgeway Phantom? And what if it's not the spirit of a deceased human, but something completely different? From shapeshifter to vampire, this is the definitive guide to Wisconsin's most famous ghost, The Ridgeway Phantom. The following is an adapted excerpt from my new book, Leading Like a C.O.A.C.H.: Five Strategies for Supporting Teaching and Learning (Corwin, 2022). Colleagues and I will be writing original posts to the book next month. Subscribe and join us!Think about the last business you went to for groceries, home supplies, or to purchase a gift for someone. Why did you shop there? We rarely think about these choices. But the likely reason is you trust the business to provide a quality product or service at a fair price. Your trust is supported by your confidence in their capacity to meet your needs. This is competence. Competence is being perceived as able to produce regular results. Competence can be augmented with compassion, such as offering to take your groceries to the car. Communication through advertising and messaging can remind us about a business’s ability to deliver on the goods or services promised. But these elements of trust ring hollow if promises and responsibilities are not fulfilled. In the context of supporting teaching and learning, competence becomes more complex in both how leaders achieve results and in how they are perceived by others through this lens. For example:In any school, you may find a teacher or two wanting to be directed on what to teach readers and writers, how to teach them, and when. A few others prefer complete autonomy, to be able to shut their door and do their work. The majority want both direction for a schoolwide goal and some authority to make decisions on behalf of their students. These varied agendas can complicate our capacity to lead and decrease our own sense of competence and confidence. Idea: Using routines to support and learn about the school cultureAs leaders, we want to create a safe space to surface people’s concerns, questions, and suggestions. One way is through routines, such as the protocols found at the School Reform Initiative (www.schoolreforminitiative.org). They provide structure to glean insights into how the faculty feel about and view the current school climate. The leader, in response, can use this information to systematically address issues either on their own or with teams. We build trust by doing what we will say we will do, as well as working together to accomplish these tasks. As Megan Tschannen-Moran, author of Trust Matters, notes:“Pursuing small, early wins on some key tasks can help build trust in both the principal’s and the school’s competence” (2014, pg. 257).One example is when I first came to my current school, in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. My superintendent at the time, Luke Francois, recommended that I start my tenure by listening to the staff and offering support for addressing issues. He suggested the idea of an open suitcase at a staff meeting. Staff could write down their anonymous concerns on slips of paper, fold them up, and put them in the suitcase.Once ready, I closed the suitcase in front of them. Then I announced, “Thank you for sharing these with me. I plan to read each one, as well as to organize these concerns and suggestions around central issues I can address now and in the future. Also, please note that now that you have shared these with me, you no longer need to worry about them so much.” The concerns were specific and helpful in understanding the current school situation. Next are a few of their comments under different themes I discovered from my review. For the rest of that first school year and beyond, I created a list around these concerns. I would work toward addressing one issue, find a way to make the results visible, and then share these results publicly as a schoolwide celebration such as in my newsletter. Instructional walks also develop a perception of competence. Teachers participate in dialogue around their practice and feel like the professionals they are. We learn from each other, see past our singular roles of teacher or leader, and engage in continuous learning which leads to an increase in trust in others and confidence in ourselves. Agweek reporter Noah Fish is joined by Deirdre Birmingham, owner and operator of the Cider Farm in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Birmingham talks about how she's enhanced the pollintaor habitat on her certified organic orchard by planting a 30-acre prairie, putting prairie strips around the orchard, adding milkweed seeds for monarchs, alternating the mowing in alleyways so every other row is flowering, enhancing beneficial insect populations, using certified organic products and leaving dandelions alone.
Many know TV personality Allen Ludden for his days as the host of the popular game show “Password,” in the 1960s and ’70s. Or, for his marriage to the beloved actress, Betty White. Perhaps lesser known, is Ludden’s Wisconsin roots. Writer Dean Robbins recently stumbled upon his Wisconsin connection during a weekend getaway to Mineral Point.
The Cider Farm apples are off to a great start in Mineral Point. But these apples aren't meant to eat whole -- these are apples will go to make hard cider and brandy. Deirdre Birmingham and her husband operate about 16,000 trees across their land, with expectations to grow to 18,000 shortly. After three touches of frost last year, she's expecting a large apple crop. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Deirdre Birmingham of The Cider Farm in Mineral Point is thankful for the pollinator infrastructure she and her husband had been putting in place since the early 2000s. Wild pollinators were responsible for the pollination of her early blooming apple varieties this year. The hives that usually set on neighboring farms did not come until thousands of trees were done flowering during the heatwave in May. The Cider Farm boasts a 30-acre prairie, prairie strips around the orchard, milkweed for monarchs, alternate mowing in alleyways so every other row is flowering, and enhanced beneficial bug populations. On December 5, 1998, a 14 year old Mike Politte woke up to find his Mineral Point, MO home filled with smoke. When he checked on his mom, he found her on the floor – on fire. After days of interrogations, investigators decided that Mike had been grieving incorrectly and that he must have been the perpetrator. Despite evidence pointing to other relatives and evidence against Mike eventually being disproved, Mike was convicted of second degree murder in the killing of his own mother and condemned to spend the next 2 decades in prison. Happy Spooky Wednesday folks! We have a haunted location, a famous cryptid, and a lister request of a small-town legend in Wisconsin! First up, Kala tells everyone about the Devil's Hopyard in Connecticut where strange noises occur underneath the whole park. Is it weird, not well researched geological phenomena, or something more sinister? And it's not just the noises! There are reports of other paranormal activity including voices and laughter, and a history of these tales goes back decades and decades, back to puritanical tales. Next, Brittany talks about the extremely famous Loch Ness Monster. Nessie is a creature so famous that despite being debunked multiple times, more evidence comes forward that seems to invalidate the debunking! Including new sightings as recent as 2021! People try to write it off as logs and debris, or maybe even an... elephant? But either way, we're not buying that. Something fishy is definitely going on here. Finally, we wrap up the episode with a listener request for the Mineral Point Vampire in Mineral Point, Wisconsin! RIGHT AT THE GATES OF HELLHADES PART 40 Over 100 MILLION GROPE IN DEEP DARKNESS 12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. 13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. 14Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. 15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. Joel 3 PREEMPTOR The enemy takes advantage of our weakness for idolatry and brings many opportunities for idol worship our way. He uses the media, which is controlled by the Antichrist spirit, to draw attention to and glorify these heaven gods of self gratification and sin. Most people, including Christians, watch several hours of television each day where beautiful people act out fictional stories in which they triumph over every obstacle or tragedy without prayer or the help of God. Eventually, over time, many Christians who possibly spend a short devotional time with God every morning but spend their entire evening watching TV, lose interest in God. Many times it isn't until some great tragedy comes into our life that we get back into a more sincere pursuit of God. Then, alas, when things start going well again, we often fall back into our lax spiritual life and God needs to permit another difficulty to come our way to draw us back again. Our verse states that these heathen gods will be “acknowledged and increased with glory” and that he (the Antichrist in my interpretation) will “cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.” There is no doubt that our hearts and minds are being seduced towards evil by the movies and TV programs we watch and the music we listen to. Satanic cults believe that good is evil and evil is good. Subtly we find ourselves accepting this in the carefully crafted stories and songs that exalt sin. If you take time to notice, most movies have something immoral in them that has nothing to do with the storyline. We watch these movies anyway. Many songs played in our stores and offices, to say nothing of the radio stations broadcasting into homes and automobiles, are glorifying adultery. Movie stars and recording artists become people's gods and they are so acknowledged and glorified that their sinful ways, once considered taboo, have become something to be emulated. This causes these false gods to rule over many people. Romans 6:16 states, “Don't you realize that whatever you choose to obey becomes your master?” (NLT) This is how the Antichrist spirit is able to rule over people and even overtake a nation. The more we engage in sin, the 97 From THE LIVE RAGGED EDGE RADIO BROADCAST/SHATTER LIVE TV WEBINAR RUSS DIZDAR © more we become enslaved by it. This leads us to 2 Thes 2:7-12 that I believe describes where we are in our nation at this time: For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed whom the Lord Jesus will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. This evil man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles He will use every kind of wicked deception to fool those who are on their way to destruction because they refuse to believe the truth that would save them. So God will send great deception upon them, and they will believe all these lies. Then they will be condemned for not believing the truth and for enjoying the evil they do. Clark, Patricia. Spiritual Warfare in Satanic Ritual Abuse: Exposing the Hidden Demonic Schemes of SRA (pp. 194-195). Kindle Edition. Dan 11:17 He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him. There is a perpetually higher price to be paid if one wants to continue getting the Devil's powers. What worked last week won't work this week. If killing a rabbit brought power last week, one must kill two rabbits this week to get the same amount of power so to speak. So far we have only talked about power gained through abuse, but there also must be death in their rituals. After the living creature is killed, everyone in attendance at the ritual must eat part of the animal's flesh and drink its blood. At some point the Devil is not satisfied with the death of an animal or multiple animals and wants a human sacrifice. It is often the baby of one of the cult members that gets sacrificed. It is not unusual for drugs to be administered to the mother causing premature birth so the child can be sacrificed before the pregnancy is as noticeable as it would be in the last few weeks. In this verse we don't see human sacrifice but we do see the demons demanding this perpetrator do more if he is to get the power he needs to get out of his predicament. The demon wants to expand his kingdom (enter with the strength of his whole kingdom). The demon is not satisfied that he has completely taken over the perpetrator's soul. He wants to expand his kingdom to those innocent persons around the perpetrator (and upright ones with him). The demon will see to it that circumstances arise such that the perpetrator will have the opportunity to sexually abuse an innocent baby or child, in this case a little girl (and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her). The Hebrew word for “corrupting” is frequently used by the prophets in the sense of “to corrupt morally.” This little girl will not choose to serve Satan as this perpetrator does (but she shall not stand on his side). She won't want to have anything to do with this abusive man (neither be for him). Clark, Patricia. Spiritual Warfare in Satanic Ritual Abuse: Exposing the Hidden Demonic Schemes of SRA (pp. 83-84). Kindle Edition. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WHEN THE RESTRAINER STOPS RESTRAINING THE RAIN KEPT POURING DOWN. It had been days since south-central Pennsylvania had seen the sun. The trickles ran down hills, forming streams that turned into small rivers, all looking for pools where the water could stop its journey and accumulate. One of those collection pools was Lake Conemaugh—a reservoir created when the South Fork Dam was built in the mid-nineteenth century. Now, decades later, the poor engineering of the dam was about to reveal itself in a disastrous way. On May 31, 1889, the constant downpour finally prevailed. The South Fork Dam burst, sending 3.8 billion gallons of water crashing down the mountain toward unsuspecting Johnstown, Pennsylvania. As the water rushed, it picked up debris—trees, cabins, railroad cars. It also swept up victims as it tore through helpless small towns—South Fork, Mineral Point, and East Conemaugh. When the flood finally reached Johnstown some 57 minutes later, the wall of water and wreckage was 35 feet high and travelling at 40 miles per hour. The destruction was unimaginable. A reported 2,209 people lost their lives that day, including 99 entire families wiped off the face of the earth.1 All that potential for destruction had been there for years, but it had been restrained by the dam. Once 98 From THE LIVE RAGGED EDGE RADIO BROADCAST/SHATTER LIVE TV WEBINAR RUSS DIZDAR © the restrainer was removed, devastation followed. This is the very picture that Paul presents in 2 Thessalonians 2. There is a restrainer in place right now, held secure by the Lord. But it will not remain there forever. A time is coming when the restrainer will be removed. On that day, people had better run for high ground, because devastation is about to pour down THE COMING APOSTASY Great confusion surrounds Paul's words in 2 Thessalonians 2. There is little doubt that he is talking about the end times and the coming of the Antichrist. It's the timing of the passage's events that creates the debate. The origin of the uncertainty resides less in Paul's words than in how people read them. Many, however, don't read as far as they should. Paul began, “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come” (verses 1-2). A rumor was spreading, saying that Christ had returned, and the Thessalonians had somehow been left behind. Paul told them, “Don't worry, folks. It's all fake news.” He encouraged them not to panic or rush to conclusions. There is an order of events that must occur before the return of Christ. The day is approaching, but it's not here yet. Up to this point, everyone seems to agree on what is said in the passage. The problem comes when some people read just one more verse, then stop. This premature halt leaves them with a thoroughly wrong conclusion. Paul wrote, “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first” (2 Thessalonians 2:3). Jesus will not return until there is a falling away. The Greek word here is apostasia, which gives us the English word apostasy. There are some who say that this word refers to the rapture, which makes no sense linguistically or logically. …………… Something is restraining, and something is being restrained. That's the first time this is mentioned. Let's read on: “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed” (verses 7-8). Notice the timing in these verses. Lawlessness is already at work. This is happening in the present time. The restraining one is now restraining and will continue to do so. However, at some point in the future, that restrainer will be removed, and the restraining will end. Once the restraining ends, the Antichrist will be revealed. That's why we've got to read the whole passage. The best way to study the Bible is to let the Bible explain the Bible. Paul made it clear that there is one reason the Antichrist is not being revealed right this very moment: The restrainer has not yet been removed. Tsarfati, Amir. This week, a collection of exceptional Ozark original singer-songwriters recorded live at Ozark Folk Center State Park. Also, interviews with these canorous poets. Folk songs don’t just materialize out of thin air and they don’t grow on trees. They’re conceived and written by regular people to express their feelings, their experiences and their culture. Although we tend to think of folk songs as records of a distant past, contemporary songwriters carry on this rich tradition. Nowhere is the tradition more alive than in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and Missouri. Join us, as we present a small sampling of true contemporary Ozark original singer-songwriters creating brand new folk music for these modern times. Featured on this episode of Ozark Highlands Radio are: Buffalo Gals band member Melissa Carper of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; Mountain View, Arkansas’ own Carolyn Carter; Batesville, Arkansas native and Creek Rocks band member Cindy Woolf; Mountain View resident and Ozark Folk Center regular, Grace Stormont; Taller Than You band member and hammered dulcimer champion, Mineral Point, Missouri’s Ben Haguewood; Buffalo Gals band member and award winning fiddler, Eureka Springs, Arkansas’ Rebecca Patek; Traveling minstrel and multi-instrumentalist Willi Carlisle of Fayetteville, Arkansas. In this week’s “From the Vault” segment, musician, educator, and country music legacy Mark Jones offers a 1973 archival recording of Ozark original singer-songwriter Jimmy Driftwood performing his well known song “The Battle of New Orleans,” from the Ozark Folk Center State Park archives. Author, folklorist and songwriter Charley Sandage presents an historical portrait of the people, events and indomitable spirit of Ozark culture that resulted in the creation of the Ozark Folk Center State Park and its enduring legacy of music and craft. In this episode, Charley speaks with Ozark Folk Center master printer Troy Odom about the techniques of early printing presses.

For the first half of the 20th century, if you were a kid in Southwest Wisconsin, you attended a one-room school. K-8, one room, one teacher. You walked miles to school throughout the seasons, and spent a tremendous amount of time with the same group of people. In Grant County, by 1912, we had 201 one-room schoolhouses, but by the end of the WWII, schools began consolidating. By 1950, most were gone. Today, some have been converted into homes, but many have been lost. Something though, that hasn’t are the stories. Today you’ll meet a dear friend of mine, Ron Weier of Platteville Wisconsin, who attended the in the mid to late 50s. Bloomfield was centrally placed between Mineral Point and Dodgeville and served about 10 families. This type of school was pretty representative for our area. Part of our rural spirit, rests in capturing, understanding, and appreciating where we’ve come from. Enjoy today’s chat -- it’s part of our history. You can read more about Grant County Rural Schools at the Wisconsin State Historical Society Website. There are lots of photographs too! Someday be sure to visit the Southwest Wisconsin Room at UW-Platteville where you can enjoy amazing resources about our local history.

The legend of the Groglin Grange Vampire is really the classic vampire story, but unlike Dracula this one may have actually happend. Crouglin is nestled in Cumberland County, England. The story first originated in a book by Augustus Hare titled My Solitary Life. Augustus claimed he was told the story by a descendent of hte Cranswell family, named Captain Fisher. It all started at a farmhouse known as now as Croglin Grange but was then called Groclin Low Hall. The grange is also located near an old cemetery and church.theunexplainedmysteries.com/Croglin-Grange-Vampire.htmlmysteriousuniverse.org/2018/08/a-strange-case-of-a-real-vampire-in-england/https://www.phantomsandmonsters.com/2011/02/croglin-grange-vampire-mystery.htmlcoolinterestingstuff.com/the-strange-croglin-grange-vampire-mysteryThe small town of Mineral point in Wisconsin is home to many things including, a stop on the Cheese Country Trail and the Midwest Cornish Festival. A few weeks ago, I called cheesemaker Tony Hook in Mineral Point with the idea of doing a story on what it was like to sell cheese at the largest producer-only farmer’s market in the nation. Every Saturday morning from April to November, about 170 stands pop up on the capital square in Madison, Wisconsin. All of the items for sale are grown, raised, and produced by the person behind each table. Tony told me he usually arrives by 4:45 a.m., so I told him I’d see him there. I’m not entirely sure he believed me, so as he navigated the orange construction barrels on Pinckney Street in his Chevy Tahoe and trailer at 4:40 am, he shook his head in disbelief as I greeted him at the curb. “Well, you told me you’d be here early, but I didn’t think you meant this early,” he said. As I helped him unload the trailer in the pitch dark under the light of a street lamp, it occurred to me how very quiet a city can be before dawn. Hell, even the swarms of squirrels that usually dot the capital grounds looking for leftovers weren’t even up yet. And to think, in just a couple of hours, the market would be so crowded that customers three-deep would be vying to buy cheddar, blue and American original cheeses from the Hook’s Cheese team.
