Snead played tight end for Auburn from 1992-93 and was part of the Tigers' perfect 11-0 team in 1993. He also earned Southeast Region Academic All-American honors during his college career. Stefan Molyneux responds to a listener's inquiry about the effectiveness of his philosophical framework, Universally Preferable Behavior (UPB), in addressing the challenges facing the West. Stefan clarifies that UPB is not a panacea but a rational construct requiring active engagement from individuals. He draws parallels between UPB and established scientific theories, emphasizing that it does not intrinsically change minds but serves as a basis for ethical reasoning. Stefan argues that UPB remains a robust framework for secular ethics, having withstood rigorous scrutiny over nearly two decades, asserting that some actions are universally non-preferable. Additionally, he discusss the necessity of a reasoned ethical system in an age driven by empirical evidence, contending that faith-based moralities cannot suffice. Ultimately, Stefan advocates for a commitment to spreading rational ethics and engaging in critical discussions as essential for fostering positive change.SUBSCRIBE TO ME ON X! https://x.com/StefanMolyneuxFollow me on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/@freedomain1GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND THE FULL AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free!Subscribers get 12 HOURS on the "Truth About the French Revolution," multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material - as well as AIs for Real-Time Relationships, Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-In Shows! You also receive private livestreams, HUNDREDS of exclusive premium shows, early release podcasts, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2025

They explore the historical context of this idea in ancient near Eastern cultures and its interpretation through Jewish and Christian philosophical traditions. The hosts delve into the dark side of this notion, including its use in exclusionary ideologies, the hierarchies it inducts, and its potential pitfalls. They also debate whether alternative theological frameworks better address contemporary issues like climate change, ultimately suggesting a nuanced approach that balances the ideal of human dignity with a broader ecological responsibility. You can subscribe to Aderaba via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or anywhere else podcasts are found.-------------------------------------------------------Head to JudaismUnbound.com/classes to check out our up upcoming courses in the UnYeshiva. In this episode, we talk about Alfred Sohn-Rethel's audacious and influential text Intellectual and Manual Labor. A fellow traveler of the Frankfurt School, Sohn-Rethel argued that the social activity of commodity exchange involves a set of real abstractions that actually precede and give rise to the structure of human consciousness and its capacity for mental abstraction. This really puts Kant in his place: the supposedly pure reason of the transcendental subject is historically conditioned by the fact that at some point people started trading stuff with each other. It also means that after the communist revolution succeeds we'll have a totally new set of a priori categories with which to synthesize experience. That's worth looking forward to!leftofphilosophy.comReferences:Alfred Sohn-Rethel, Intellectual and Manual Labor: A Critique of Epistemology, trans. MICRONMAPPER from SIN360: https://sin360.us/micronmapper/ This week we chat with the hilarious and inspiring Will Varda, a second-generation dental technician, lab owner, and president of the Dental Technicians Association of BC. Will takes us on an incredible journey from his father's early days crafting crowns for Iranian royalty — complete with goat-horn hammers and plaster impressions — to the modern world of digital design, milling, and 3D printing. Along the way, he shares stories of growing up in a lab, learning every step the hard way, and how a Facebook study group and a few friends completely changed the course of his career. He also talks about the importance of community in the lab world, the balance between art and obsession, and how the right attitude (and maybe a little wine in a furry purse) can make even the toughest lab days a little brighter. Now leading the charge in his province, Will is bringing technicians together — literally — with the first-ever Dental Boat Cruise, where hhe taught about digital fundamentals through his “recipe for design” approach. From scones to splines, Will explains how mastering the basics can give you true digital freedom no matter what software you use. Looking for a way to unlock the full potential of your digital dentistry workflow. Take it from Elise Heathcote, associate manager of digital services with Ivoclar. This is all about the Cam Academy. They have a new in-person training experience designed specifically for dental technicians. This also serves as a supplement to my "Doom Debates" interview which can be found here: https://youtu.be/koubXR0YL4A?si=483M6SPOKwbQYmzb It is simply assumed some version of "Bayesian reasoning" is how AI will "create" knowledge. This misconception permeates the https://ai-2027.com paper, as well as Bostrom and Yudkowsky's work on this, as well as that of every other AI "Doomer" and even on the other extreme the so-called "AI-Accelerationists". All of that indicates a deep misconception about how new explanations are generated which comes from a deep misconception about how science works because almost no one in the field of AI seems to think the *philosophy of* science is even relevant. Never trust anyone who tries to be ethically pure. This is the message of Albert Camus's short novel La Chute (The Fall), in which a retired French lawyer tells a stranger in a bar in Amsterdam about a series of incidents that led to a profound personal crisis. The self-described ‘judge-penitent' had once thought himself to be morally irreproachable, but an encounter with a woman on a bridge and a mysterious laugh left him tormented by a sense of hypocrisy. In this episode, Jonathan and James follow Camus's slippery hero as he tries and fails to undergo a moral revolution, and look at the ways in which the novel's lightness of style allows for twisted inversions of conventional morality. They also consider the similarities between Camus's novels and those of Simone de Beauvoir, and his fractious relationship with Jean-Paul Sartre. Why “Love Is Love” Is a Lie Today, there are all kinds of calls for us to love. Love seemingly is the highest ideal, but what if such calls hide darker motives? "Love is Love" sounds sweet—but it's a dangerous lie masking self-seeking feelings as virtue. Discover the Bible's radical agape: self-sacrificial, God-centered love. Looking at C.S. Lewis's The Four Loves and applying Paul's teaching from Romans 12, we see how to build real love, leading to church harmony, a hatred of evil, a community that rejoices or weeps together, and even a people who will bless their enemies.

Welcome to episode #1005 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). Every major leap in human connection starts as a simple question: what if? For Rouzbeh Yassini-Fard, that question led to the invention of the cable modem and the birth of broadband internet access as we know it. Often called the “father of the cable modem,” Rouzbeh is a visionary engineer and entrepreneur whose work transformed how billions of people access information. His new book, The Accidental Network, traces the improbable journey from an idea nobody believed in (“why would anyone want the internet at home?”) to the global infrastructure that now powers our economy, culture and daily life. In this conversation, he reflects on the messy, human side of innovation: the skeptics who dismissed broadband, the long nights building hardware that few thought possible, and the radical choice to make his breakthrough technology open-standard so the world could share it. Rouzbeh speaks with humility about how chance, persistence and purpose collided to shape the digital age, and how broadband became not just a business revolution but a social one, connecting homes, hospitals, schools and communities. He also wrestles with the moral dimension of progress, calling for a balance between capitalism and conscience as we enter an era defined by AI, environmental strain and “data as the new oil.” From the early chaos of coaxial cables to the moral complexity of modern networks, Rouzbeh's story is a reminder that technology's true purpose isn't speed or profit... it's improving the quality of life for everyone it touches. Enjoy the conversation… Running time: 1:00:46. Hello from beautiful Montreal. Listen and subscribe over at Apple Podcasts. Listen and subscribe over at Spotify.
