What if the aches in your body aren't entirely yours? The shoulder pain, the gut tension, or the sense of incompletion might not just be physical. It could be the echo of a secret held for decades, maybe even generations? Because here's the thing: families hold secrets, but those secrets have a way of leaking out or leaving breadcrumbs. And if you're connected to your intuition, you can sense that there's something that's not being said. Most of us were taught to look forward, to toughen up, to leave the past behind. But what if that very suppression is why we can't move forward? What if freedom lives not in forgetting, but in remembering? In this episode, we're joined by spiritual strategist, energy healer, and psychic medium, Christina Trifero. We unpack the heavy cost of secrecy and the methods we can use to bring the unknown and unspoken out into the open. We also discuss how to be a healer without hero-ing yourself or compromising your own essence.    Things You'll Learn In This Episode  -Secrets live in the body Could physical pain or chronic tension be carrying an emotional secret? How does naming what was once unspeakable change your relationship with your body? -Intuition vs. inheritance What's the difference between your soul's knowing and your family's emotional programming? How can you tell what's truly you and what's been passed down? -How not to be a vessel for other people's pain If you're deeply empathetic or energetically sensitive, how do you hold others without absorbing their suffering?   Guest Bio Christina Trifero is a Spiritual Strategist, energy healer, and psychic medium. After a long career building companies in Silicon Valley, she now uses her natural (and super-natural) gifts as an integrated intuitive, touching 1000s of lives globally. Anti-intellectualism is on the rise. And by "anti-intellectualism" we mean the backlash to scholars in fields like the humanities.According to two intellectuals, Dr. Ally Louks and Jason Stanley, the humanities help us better connect to other humans. According to a lot of online haters, they're worthless. In November 2024, Dr. Louks recently posted her Cambridge University dissertation online and was piled on by a loud group of right-wing anti-intellectuals. Today, Brittany revisits her convo with Dr. Louks, and Jason Stanley, a professor of Philosophy at Yale University. They investigate the backlash to Dr. Louks, higher education at large, and why "anti-intellectualism" is prevalent in Republican politics. Just got back from three and a half weeks in Europe (still not sure what time zone I'm in), and Aaron Simmons and I dove straight into the deep end of why democracy feels like it's falling apart. We're wrestling with this massive question: what do you do when reason-giving just seems to fail completely - when people either dismiss everyone who disagrees as morally bankrupt, or assume their own views are so obviously correct that any pushback must be irrational? We wandered through everything from whether I should keep eating at this barbecue place covered in MAGA signs (still haven't decided), to how 81% of white evangelicals support the least Christian president we've ever had, to whether Western civilization can survive without its Christian roots, with a delightful detour into heavy metal pit ethics because apparently that's how we process political theory now. The whole conversation convinced us we need more voices thinking about these tensions together, which is why we're launching this Democracy in Tension summit where a bunch of our philosopher and theologian friends will tackle these questions from different angles - because honestly, Aaron and I don't have answers, but we're pretty sure the questions matter enough to keep wrestling with them, even if it makes us uncomfortable about where we get our barbecue. You can WATCH the conversation on YouTube ONLINE SUMMIT: Democracy in Tension - NAVIGATING THE INTERLOCKING CRISES OF DEMOCRACY AND RELIGION Democracy today faces profound challenges – polarization, inequality, populist authoritarianism, and widespread cynicism are eroding the foundations of democratic life.
