The Munchie Boys tackled a tough one this week, as Stabler is forced to investigate the murder of an admittedly odious perp he'd locked up previously. If ever there were an episode that wallowed in the "you can't choose your victims" edict, it's this one. "Victims" also has some pretty big names in it to go along with some pretty rough pre-9/11 fashion and a Guardian Angels storyline that gives Adam a bit to talk about.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Tony B, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Erin M, Melissa H, Olivia, Holly F, Karina H, Zak B, Karyn R, Summer S, Matt, and Elyse R - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! What does it actually take to change a broken system from the inside out? ⛓️
In this episode Jeff tears apart the latest assassination attempt against Donald Trump and the staggering security failures that allowed it to happen. From an armed suspect getting dangerously close to the president to the laughable claims that the system “worked” Jeff explains why this was a complete disgrace and why the response afterward was even worse. Jeff then breaks down the war with Iran and how what started with clear objectives quickly unraveled. Bad advice, unrealistic expectations and a fundamental misunderstanding of the enemy have led to a situation where Iran is now dictating terms. Trump's focus on markets and public perception over actual victory has turned a position of strength into an avoidable mess. The bigger problem is what this moment represents. Jeff argues this was likely the last real chance to cripple the world's leading terror regime and instead the United States blinked. The result is a stronger more emboldened enemy and a future that looks far more dangerous than it needed to be. Receive new episodes directly in your inbox: https://beyondthelegallimit.com/subscribe

In this episode, he breaks down what it was really like working inside a women's prison, the realities of the job, and how he worked his way up to Sergeant. In this episode of Texas Talks, host Brad Swail sits down with Marc Levin, Chief Policy Counsel at the Council on Criminal Justice, for a wide-ranging conversation about where criminal justice reform stands in Texas today — and what lawmakers should be focused on next. Levin reflects on his long history in Texas criminal justice policy, from the 2007 reforms that helped the state avoid building thousands of new prison beds to the current push for a smarter, more data-driven justice system. He explains why public safety remains the core mission of government, but argues that Texas works best when policy is guided by proportionality, fairness, accountability, and evidence about what actually reduces crime and recidivism. The conversation explores recent reforms from the 89th Texas Legislature, including expanded pretrial funding, parole process changes through the Sunset review of TDCJ, and the constitutional amendment updating bail rules. Levin also discusses why plea bargaining deserves more scrutiny, how better data could help policymakers compare sentences and outcomes across counties, and why transparency matters if Texas wants to know whether its justice system is truly working. The discussion also covers: • The importance of pretrial services and front-loading treatment and support • Geriatric parole and streamlining release decisions for low-risk elderly inmates • Why Texas still needs better sentencing and recidivism data • The debate over prison air conditioning and what “smart justice” should mean • How AI can help solve crimes and inform decisions — without replacing human judgment • Why veterans need better identification and support within the justice system • Clean slate proposals for automatic record sealing of minor misdemeanors • Fentanyl testing strips as a harm-reduction tool to save lives • “Second look” sentencing for people who committed serious crimes as juveniles • Why trust in the justice system may be just as important as recidivism rates Levin makes the case that Texas has already shown it can lower both crime and incarceration at the same time — but only if lawmakers keep focusing on reforms that are practical, measurable, and rooted in outcomes rather than rhetoric. 00:00 — Introduction and Marc Levin joins the podcast 01:05 — Marc Levin's background and Texas criminal justice reform history 03:38 — What a smarter justice system actually looks like 05:16 — The biggest reforms from the 89th Texas Legislature 06:45 — Pretrial services, treatment, and front-loaded support 08:29 — Plea bargains, coercion, and the “trial penalty” 10:47 — Why Texas needs better sentencing and justice system data 12:45 — TDCJ Sunset review and parole process changes 16:18 — Prison air conditioning and the debate over humane conditions 19:17 — Why solving more crimes matters more than harsher conditions 21:36 — How AI is changing criminal justice policy 24:24 — Risk assessments, facial recognition, and guardrails for AI 29:00 — Priorities for the 90th Texas Legislature 29:45 — Veterans justice reform and better reentry support 34:08 — Clean slate policy and sealing minor misdemeanor records 35:54 — Fentanyl testing strips and harm reduction 38:06 — Second look sentencing for juveniles 40:18 — Is recidivism the best metric for justice reform? 43:26 — Long-term Texas trends in crime, incarceration, and reform 45:13 — Final thoughts: data, trust, and what Texas should do next Watch Full-Length Interviews: https://www.youtube.com/@TexasTalks

Juma Sampson grew up in the streets of Rochester and got pulled into the hustle at a young age, a path that eventually led to federal charges for drugs and guns. After taking his case to trial and losing in federal court, Juma was sentenced to 25 years in the federal prison system. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares what it was really like surviving nearly two decades inside both medium security and penitentiary prisons, navigating violence, prison politics, and the reality of doing serious time. While locked up, Juma began studying the law, eventually representing himself in court and fighting for his own freedom—ultimately getting his sentence reduced and walking out after 19 years behind bars. _____________________________________________ #ianbick #lockedinpodcast #federalprison #prisonstory #prisontalk #prisontime #truecrimepodcast #excon _____________________________________________ Connect with Juma Sampson: Website: www.chaosunlimited.net Book: https://a.co/d/0dHmGKds Instagram: Official.Chaos1 _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Shop Locked In Merch: http://www.ianbick.com/shop _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Facing 25 Years in Prison — Arrest & Federal Charges 03:39 Growing Up in Rochester — Family & Early Life 07:51 Street Hustling & Learning the Game 13:36 First Arrests & Entering the System 17:18 Chasing Money, Trouble & Bad Decisions 22:39 Federal Case Breakdown — Project Exile & Sentencing 28:26 First Days in Federal Prison — What It's Like 32:52 Prison Politics, Gangs & Inmate Culture 40:42 Solitary Confinement, Transfers & Survival 46:54 Prison Hustles, Writing & Discipline 53:21 Daily Life in Prison & Inmate Economy 01:00:57 Turning Point — Growth & Self-Development 01:07:56 Law Library, Appeals & Fighting the System 01:13:16 Family, Responsibility & Accountability 01:20:25 Prison Reform, Sentencing & Early Release 01:28:03 Reentry After Prison — Adjusting to Freedom 01:31:01 Life After Prison — Business, Goals & Family 01:36:56 Writing Books & Sharing the Story 01:39:36 Final Thoughts & Lessons Learned Learn more about your ad choices. The boys are back, this time recording from the mountains of Breckenridge, Colorado after three straight days of shredding powder (well, what little powder there was in the worst snow season in apparently 33,000 years). Between gasping for air at elevation and debating mittens vs gloves, we somehow end up discussing Valentine's Day etiquette, the proper punishment for making gay jokes at Colorado grocery stores, and why Shawley needs to step up his Instagram game. Also, Joe admits he's never heard a Bad Bunny song and we all share our most embarrassing simp moments from high school. You're welcome. Things take a turn when we dive into Ring cameras tracking your dog (and maybe you), whether the death penalty is ever justified, and why prison sentences make absolutely zero sense. We get heated about nonviolent offenders getting decades while actual murderers walk in 11 years, debate whether all drugs should be legalized, and somehow land on the topic of what happens when you take 40 Robitussin pills (don't try this at home, seriously Joe??) Then we go DEEP down the Epstein rabbit hole and honestly might not come back up. From the DOJ refusing to meet with victims, to Trump's suspicious cheerleading of the cover-up, to whether our entire government would collapse if the unredacted files dropped—we're asking all the questions nobody in power wants us asking. Throw in some 9/11 theories, textbook propaganda, and Charlie's newfound obsession with McGraw Hill ownership, and you've got yourself one spicy episode. Do your own research, folks. See you next week (maybe).

Meghan and Miranda are joined by former Rep. George Santos, fresh out after 84 days served (including 41 days in solitary confinement) with his federal sentence commuted by President Trump. He walks us through the moment-to-moment reality of prison (moldy ceilings, expired food, the “shoe”), how he coped, who helped, and why he wants to channel the experience into prison reform and case review work (a la Alice Marie Johnson). We also hit: Why he says he was moved to solitary & how “protective custody” works. Mental health, re-entry, and the very relatable first shower/La Mer/skincare binge! NY politics: NYC mayoral race, congestion pricing, Kathy Hochul's vulnerabilities, and whether Elise Stefanik could win statewide Culture break: J.Lo's historic box-office flop, Katy Perry + Trudeau rumor mill, and the “diva down/diva up” jokes. On Kamala Harris' book & Pete Buttigieg: do voters care about identity, or competency? P.S. Miranda's live from Las Vegas (yes, that Flamingo sign), and the Cheryl Hines interview is up now on YouTube — thanks for the love on that one.
The Quaker experiment at Eastern State Penitentiary was meant to be a sanctuary for the soul, a place to reform criminals through silence and reflection. In this episode, Jeff points out the ridiculousness of the belief that President Trump has brought peace to the Middle East with the ceasefire agreement he got Israel and Hamas to sign. There is a mountain of evidence which makes clear that this ceasefire is simply a lull until the next war. In the meantime, the leftists/terrorists are making massive inroads into America and our failure to cut off the head of the terror snake will be our country's greatest failure in the not so distant future. In other news, Bruce Cutler has passed, at one point the most famous lawyer in the world. Bruce also was the lawyer who had a large part in getting Jeff to drop Pre-med in college and go to law school. In this podcast, Jeff recounts some very funny Bruce stories from years past. RIP Bruce.

In this podcast, Jeff discusses the assassination of Charlie Kirk by yet another deranged leftist shooter. As disturbing as the shooting was, the celebrations from the left — which included professionals, teacher and health care providers — were even more troubling. Jeff discusses what needs to come next if we are to avoid sliding into the abyss as a country.

In this podcast, Jeff talks about his trip to Italy and love of Italians — and notes the many similarities between Italians and Jews and one glaring difference. Italy was great but the constant content making of young people in Capri annoyed him. Only this dopey, lazy mentality could drive the success of Zorhan Mamdani, a Socialist Hamas supporter, in the NYC mayoral race.

I'm fairly certain that our mental image of a maximum security prison doesn't involve mentor programs, book club, and cognitive therapy; And yet, that is exactly what my expert today has introduced as a new style of Prison Reform. Welcome to the Just Dumb Enough Podcast. A show that acknowledges no one is always an expert, by dispelling misconceptions with real experts. My guest today is Dr Kim Nugent. Kim has worked to propagate mentor programs in all avenues of life, or so she thought until she was approached to write a peer mentor guide for convicted criminals with hefty felony sentences. Join us as she explains the story that brought her program to life, the ways it can truly save the lives of people who need a second chance, and how this might actually benefit your small or large business. ( Https://Www.DrNugentSpeaks.Com ) ( Https://Www.HonestJobs.Com - For those looking to find work after prison, or to find workers as an employer ) ( https://a.co/d/g3syhHR will take you to: Www.Amazon.Com "From Prison to Possibilities: Paving Your Path" ) ( https://youtube.com/@kimnugent7130?si=EIolmPtKFsTwXd1b will take you to: Www.YouTube.Com - "Kim Nugent - YouTube Home" ) Let's advocate for prison reform! If anyone out there knows a warden, or veteran corrections officer, or experienced department of justice worker: I would love to get them on the show for a deeper dive on prisons and what isn't common knowledge. The same goes for anyone who served a long stent in prison, as I think both sides of the situation have valuable experience. In ranking news... August is halfway over, and the global ranks are now as follows: 1. The United States, with California, Michigan, and Washington now out front. 2. Australia, with Victoria taking on Western Australia. 3. England of the United Kingdom, now leading their Scottish partners. 4. Canada, with Ontario taking a huge lead. 5. Ireland, battling it out with the Netherlands. That's it for this week! Have a great week, a great weekend, and I'll see you all back here next week for another new episode! In this episode, Jeff returns after a few weeks off — and explains how one press conference in Chicago spiraled into a fabricated international incident with the Mexican government. Representing Ovidio Guzmán (El Chapo's son) became less about legal defense and more about being scapegoated by terrified politicians. In the end, free speech and the truth will always shine through. And the Mexican people? Jeff notes that his respect for them has grown exponentially. Also covered: Hamas' newest PR strategy — letting Gaza starve while hoarding food in tunnels and filming propaganda videos of emaciated kids (whose fat parents are somehow not starving). The lies grow louder, the propaganda slicker, and yet Western liberal and far-right Jew haters just can't stop blaming Israel and taking it out on Jews. All while the next mayor of NYC will be a Hamas cheerleader who wants government-owned supermarkets and to arrest the Prime Minster of Israel. The downward spiral that began in 2008 nears completion. And finally, Jeff goes full collector mode: a breakdown of the baseball card National Show in Chicago. Too many rooms, too many scammers, but one glorious vintage Orioles cabinet card makes the entire hellscape worth it.

American Hypocrisy: Why Do We Tolerate These Contradictions? The contradictions in American life are everywhere — and today, we break them down. Why is sex work still taboo when porn is the internet's #1 use? Why are gay adult performers still punished while straight ones get mainstream careers? Why do we spend billions on incarceration but won't invest in housing? Why do we mourn 100 deaths in Texas but ignore daily massacres in Gaza or Ukraine? And why, in a nation of excess, do so many still go hungry? From reality shows like Love Island booting cast members over adult content, to America's obsession with punishment over prevention, today's Karel Cast dives deep into the twisted double standards that define U.S. culture. If you've ever wondered why America seems so upside down — I've got thoughts. Uncensored. Unfiltered. Unhinged. It's The Karel Cast.

In this podcast Jeff discusses a moment he never dreamed would occur: Iran's nuclear facilities were destroyed by America and Iran is finally punished for its global terror. Every President from Carter through Biden looked the other way or appeased Iran's terrorism — Trump did not. Jeff eats some crow but points out the MAGA leading voices who sided with the Muslim terror state that tried to kill our President. And an update on Jeff's federal fraud sentencing before his fraternity brother. It was a hoot, it was surreal and it brought back a lot of memories.
Michale Bay movies, an emotional dilemma on the prison yard and, for the first time in history, the Federal Bureau Of Prisons (BOP) has appointed a former inmate to the position of Deputy Director. This week Jeff opens with the long-awaited Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear infrastructure, a dazzling military operation years in the making. But instead of support for Israel, Jeff is stunned by the response: hatred not only from the far left but now pouring out of MAGA's biggest names. Yes, the Trump-right has joined Hamas and the progressive left in their obsessive Jew hatred, and Jeff is seething.Trump, meanwhile, couldn't resist taking credit for the Israeli success after the fact, even though he reportedly tried to block the strike for months. And if he actually helped, why didn't he greenlight American B-52s to finish the job on the underground nuke sites? Why is he trying to make a huge deal when the world's biggest sponsor of terror is on its knees? Also this week: a tale of how a young lawyer buying his first suits comes full circle 30 years later, this time as a man paying cash with 44 tailored suits under his belt. Plus, Jeff faces a federal judge he went to college with and admits, despite all of his own accomplishments, the judge is the better man.As always, Jeff pulls no punches. Not for MAGA. Not for Trump. Not for the far left. And certainly not for anyone siding with the world's worst terror regime.

Raves, riches, and ruin: Former ecstasy kingpin Shaun Attwood exposes the dangerous world of drug trafficking and its violent criminal connections. [Pt 2/2 — find Pt 1 here!] What We Discuss: The extreme brutality and inhumane conditions in the United States prison system, including rampant violence, unsanitary living conditions, and inadequate medical care. The complex and dangerous social dynamics within prison, including racial segregation, gang politics, and the constant threat of violence. The psychological impact of long-term incarceration, including the difficulty of reintegrating into society and the lasting trauma experienced by both inmates and their families. The systemic issues within the American prison system, particularly the profit-driven motives of private prisons that perpetuate a cycle of crime and recidivism rather than focusing on rehabilitation. The power of personal transformation and education, as demonstrated by Shaun's journey from drug kingpin to advocate for prison reform. His story shows that even in the darkest circumstances, individuals can find ways to grow, learn, and ultimately use their experiences to make a positive impact on society.
