“All my life I have tried to be a good woman,” writes Savala Nolan. Being “good” meant not rocking the boat. It meant following the rules and fitting herself into the mold of duty, excellence, sacrifice, and hard work. But as a Black woman and mother navigating a world built for men, Nolan learned that the lessons of being good no longer fit her life. In her new book of essays “Good Woman: A Reckoning,” Nolan, an attorney who heads UC Berkeley Law's Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice, blends history and memoir as she examines the confining expectations of womanhood. We talk to Nolan. Guests: Savala Nolan, executive director, Thelton E. Presented by Maxxis and Backyard Coffee Co. There is no denying that Eli Tomac is the baddest dude to have ever ridden a dirt bike at Daytona International Speedway. ET3 earned his record-breaking eighth win at last weekend's Daytona Supercross, and he is now the winningest rider at the World Center of Racing in any form of motorsports. And while much fuss was made of him busting part of his front tooth off when the base of his trophy broke off and sent the brass rider smashing into his mouth, the big story is that the Red Bull KTM rider now has four wins on the season and has closed within a single point of his championship rival Hunter Lawrence. We talk about everything Daytona, in this week's Kickstart Podcast race review!

What do you get the man who has everything? Because politically, President Trump has it all. That's why this was the easiest SOTU for a president in the modern era. Forget the media hype, and hyperventilating of Democrats. When you think of Democrats, remember that these are the people who happily cheated in a braindead moron over Trump version 1. And they would happily trade AOC for Trump version 2.Yes, they are that crazy. How many Democrats tried to make news saying, “I'm not going”. WHO CARES?!Hochul, racist comment on Black kids in the BronxIs it even possible to discuss Trump's exploits in less than 2 hours? Nope.Even in the little things, Trump won before the SOTU even happened. Bannon got outed.Tucker Carlson got outed. And his is by Conservatives. And Scott Jennings explained another win.[X] SB – Scott Jennings on SCOTUS decisionSCOTUS disagreed with him. President Trump warned that the SCOTUS ruling could devastate American business, even national security. But Democrats don't care about either. They are destroyers of economies, and only want things that grow government, bureaucracy, therefore their potential for theft. And on that front, Trump is their mortal enemy.DOGE exposed NGOs and the way these organizations have been used to steal from taxpayers and funnel money back to the Democratic Party.Trump's mission to shrink government is counter to the Democrats' plan to grow government for the reasons I stated. The problem with tariffs from the Democrats' point of view is (1) they were Trump's novel idea, (2) and the idea had merit. The fact that tariffs worked validated what Democrats knew would happen.SCOTUS actually strengthened Trump tariff position. What a backfire.Justice Kavanaugh handed President Trump a 63-page roadmap to continue his tariff policy through other means. Yeah, he's still pissed off about that disgusting smear campaign and assassination attempt.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Welcome to episode #1025 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). At a moment when panic travels faster than proof, few marketers are as clear-eyed… and as human… as Ann Handley. A pioneering digital marketing strategist (MarketingProfs), bestselling author (Everybody Writes and Content Rules), longtime champion of writing that actually means something and dear friend (also, if you're not susbscribed to her newsletter, Total Annarchy, you really should be), Ann has built a career reminding businesses that the point of content isn't velocity… it's connection. In her recent essay, Something Messy Is Happening: On AI, Panic, and Asking Better Questions, she pushes back against the apocalyptic certainty surrounding AI job displacement and challenges the framing that faster always wins. Responding to venture capitalist Matt Shumer's argument, Something Big Is Happening, that AI will eliminate half of white-collar work within a few years, Ann dissects the seductive panic embedded in exponential curves and racing metaphors, arguing that technological capability does not equal economic inevitability. She reminds us that adoption is human-shaped, that judgment compounds when speed becomes cheap, and that friction is often where thinking actually happens. Rather than choosing between "adapt or die," Ann advocates for a steadier path: use the tools, reject the hysteria, protect the work that builds trust, expertise and meaning over time. Grounded in curiosity rather than fear, her perspective reframes the moment not as a race to outrun machines but as an invitation to ask better questions about what we're building… and why. Trump's election win changed everything. The fact that Democrats couldn't cheat enough to win was apocalyptic for them. But good for America and the world. Look at how the world looks now. America is not the only country winning, as the Trump Doctrine has changed the way countries view things.Companies are adjusting their immigration policies to that of America. They are ridding themselves of radical Islam, with countries like Japan taking radical steps. Trump gave the world permission to push back on NWO and other equally nonsensical stuff. You know the saying, “There will be good days and bad days”. The same is true for weeks. And Trump is having spectacular days that led to an amazing week.I know there are people who want to believe that President Trump didn't have a good week last week. That's because those people either hate Trump or can't recognize winning. Before I explain things from the winner's perspective, let's look at a few losers. Tucker Carlson is a massive loser. He visited Israel, and he looked similar to AOC in Munich. Much more on him later.Along with Tucker, there is a long list of people who had a bad week, and it's not over for them, as bad weeks will turn into bad months and years. The media is still on blast. Alright, let's talk about something refreshing. Not a press conference. Not a task force. Not another government study that costs $40 million to conclude drugs are… bad.No, ladies and gentlemen, it looks like America finally remembered how to win a fight.El Mencho has been arrested, and the CNJG cartel has been hit hard. Did you know that El Mencho was arrested in San Franciso and RELEASED. Back in 1989.Because while most of Washington was busy holding symposiums about “root causes” and hosting empathy workshops for criminals, President Trump just helped take down one of the most powerful cartel bosses on planet Earth. El Mencho. Gone. Finished. Game over for one very important résumé in organized crime. And the reaction has been fascinating. Not from the cartels. They reacted exactly how you'd expect. Panic, scrambling, hiding money, switching phones every eight minutes. Totally normal criminal behavior.Do you know that the president of Mexico said she didn't want to use force against the cartels because it would violate their human rights."Returning to the war against the narco is not an option. First, because it is outside the framework of the law."The interesting reaction came from politicians.Suddenly, people who never showed urgency about fentanyl deaths are deeply concerned about… escalation. Isn't that amazing? For years Americans were dying by the tens of thousands, and Washington's response was basically a candlelight vigil and a grant proposal. But the moment a cartel leader gets eliminated, now we need caution. Now we need nuance. Now everybody's a geopolitical philosopher. It's almost like stability was working out pretty well for somebody.Let's be honest about what cartels are. These aren't guys in pickup trucks making bad decisions. These are multinational corporations with better logistics than most Fortune 500 companies. They run supply chains, security divisions, intelligence networks, and marketing operations. The only difference between a cartel and a tech startup is one sells poison and the other sells your data… and sometimes I'm not sure which one Congress regulates more.CJNG, El Mencho's organization, wasn't just a cartel. It was an army with branding. Drones, armored vehicles, territory control. These guys weren't hiding from governments. In many places, they were the government.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
One of my acquaintances tweeted, “Whoever the producer of tonight's State of The Union broadcast is, has to be the biggest troll in America.”They said this because with the president said, “Because they refused to call their daughter a boy”, the cameraman panned to that Democrat Congressional freak man who is playing a woman. Then, when President Trump mentioned, “Somali Pirates” the camera cuts to Ilhan Omar.Bravo! This is a guy who just ended his videographer career.Understand that prior to the SOTU, news broke that the CIA retracted 19 politicized intelligence products many of which improperly inserted DEI nonsense into intel analysis. These reports spanned over a decade, and included assessments on white women, white males and violent extremism, LGBT issues, abortion, and more.I joked recently, “It's ok to be Christian, heterosexual, and white again”.I told people that it's best to wait a few days after an event like the SOTU, because the topic will have soaked a bit. To use cooking terms, the sauce becomes a reduction, whereby we get all the great flavor combinations. And what a sauce the Democrats have concocted.Included in the fallout is this update from sources close to high-ranking Democrats who have revealed growing internal panic following the party's response to President Trump's SOTU address. These sources described Democrats' counter-protests and boycott events as a “disaster”. Apparently, the events are described as leaving the Democrats appearing “childish” and “disorganized”.I saw videos of one event, and it looked like a third-grade production put on by adults. Leftists wore with frog and giraffe costumes and performed lame attempts at comedySee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Tune in here to this Friday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the show with Pete Kaliner for this week’s Friday Hangover; they discuss the spectacle surrounding closed-door testimony from figures like Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, and whether anything meaningful ever comes from these political dramas. The conversation quickly turns into a broader commentary on the “clown show” nature of congressional hearings, with both hosts questioning why serious proceedings so often feature headline-chasing lawmakers. Later Brett is joined by Don Brown from Iredell County to discuss the latest developments in his Senate campaign and the major issues shaping the political landscape. Don Brown shares his reaction to recent events in Washington, criticizing what he views as partisan behavior from Democrats while noting that John Fetterman stood out for showing independence and composure. Brown outlines a four-part test he believes should guide any presidential decision on military action, particularly regarding rising tensions with Iran, emphasizing both national security and measured restraint. On the economy, he argues conditions have improved but says healthcare costs, grocery prices, and federal regulations continue to burden families. Also joined by Bill Roggio from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies to discuss rising tensions in the Middle East and South Asia, Bill Roggio offers a sobering assessment of Iran and the broader regional landscape. In fascist Italy, resistance took surprising forms. Maura Hametz shares the story of one woman who stood up to the regime–by refusing to change her name. And: Numbers of Black women legislators have increased dramatically in the last decade. Jatia Wrighten argues that the success and drive of these leaders is rooted deep in history. Later in the show: Joan of Arc wasn't the only medieval woman to lead an army. Steven Isaac brings us the queens and empresses whose military strategy drove European politics.
CoreWeave (CRWV) shares collapsed with investors expressing concerns on the company's "show me" story. Meghan Joyce presents a bull case in its backlog but a bear case in the construction needed to obtain that revenue. Logan Gilland adds to Meghan's points by saying he would not "buy into the blood" in CoreWeave's selling action. He says investors should wait to see who wins "the race to be first" in capitalizing on CapEx. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. The February 27 edition of the AgNet News Hour featured a wide-ranging and energetic conversation with Elaine Culotti, who officially announced she is running for Governor of California. In a discussion that touched on everything from water and infrastructure to immigration and state spending, Culotti made it clear she believes California needs a complete reset. Culotti, a farmer and entrepreneur, is running with No Party Preference, arguing that California's biggest challenges won't be solved by partisan politics. With the state facing a massive budget deficit, high gas prices, struggling infrastructure, and ongoing recovery from devastating wildfires, she says leadership must focus on practical solutions instead of party loyalty. A major theme of the interview was Sacramento's role in what she describes as “oppression” of local cities through unfunded mandates. Culotti argued that cities and counties are often required to comply with state directives without receiving the funding necessary to implement them. According to her, that structure drains local resources and limits communities' ability to solve problems on their own terms. Infrastructure also took center stage. From the unfinished high-speed rail project to crumbling highways and rising fuel costs, Culotti emphasized the need to prioritize roads, freight corridors, and supply chains before launching new large-scale initiatives. With refineries closing and transportation costs rising, she warned that California families and farmers will continue feeling pressure at the pump and in grocery stores unless energy and logistics are addressed directly. Water policy was another focal point. Culotti stressed that California must bring in subject-matter experts and implement long-term, science-based strategies to secure reliable water supplies for agriculture and growing communities. She also called for stronger collaboration with federal agencies to unlock infrastructure funding and stabilize the state's economy. Immigration policy entered the conversation as well, with Culotti highlighting concerns about the backlog of legal immigration applications and the strain on local systems. She argued that restoring order and clarity to the process is essential for economic stability and public trust. Looking ahead, Culotti said the upcoming primary will be critical. With California's “top two” primary system sending only the highest vote-getters to the general election, she is appealing directly to voters across party lines who want accountability, fiscal responsibility, and economic development. As California prepares for the 2028 Olympics and continues recovering from wildfire damage, Culotti says the state must rebuild its foundation — economically and structurally — before pursuing new ambitions. Part two of the interview continues next week.
The race to become the next governor of California is being described as a "dead heat," and with several Democrats polling at single-digits, the field could be shrinking soon. For more KCBS' Steve Scott spoke with KCBS Insider Phil Matier.
This week on Black on Black Cinema, the crew returns to introduce the next film to the reviewed, "Soul Men." The 2008 film follows two estranged soul-singing legends who agree to participate in a reunion performance at the Apollo Theater to honor their recently deceased band leader. The movie stars Samuel L. Jackson and the late great Bernie Mac. Available to stream for free on Tubi. The random topic this week we tackle the complex and difficult incident that unfolded at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards when John Davidson, a Tourette's syndrome activist and subject of the nominated film "I Swear," involuntarily shouted racial slurs—including the N-word—while Black actors Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented an award. This isn't a simple story. It's a collision of disability rights, anti-Black racism, media responsibility, and institutional failure. What happened: Davidson, who has spent decades advocating for Tourette's awareness, experienced involuntary vocal tics throughout the ceremony. His condition causes coprolalia—the uncontrollable utterance of socially inappropriate words. When Jordan and Lindo took the stage, Davidson's tic produced the N-word, audible throughout the venue. The BBC's failure: Despite broadcasting on a two-hour delay (giving them time to edit), the BBC left the slur in the broadcast AND on iPlayer for 15+ hours. Yet they DID edit out other content, including a "Free Palestine" statement and political jokes. The selective editing reveals a catastrophic failure/purposeful behavior in judgment and priorities. The complications: This incident sits at the painful intersection of two marginalized communities. Davidson has no control over his tics—they represent the opposite of his actual beliefs. Yet Black attendees, including production designer Hannah Beachler, experienced real racial trauma. Lindo told Vanity Fair he wished BAFTA had spoken to them afterward. Host Alan Cumming's apology said "sorry if you were offended" was woefully inadequate. Why this matters for cinema: The film "I Swear" was nominated for multiple BAFTAs and won three awards, including Best Actor for Robert Aramayo's portrayal of Davidson. The movie exists to educate about Tourette's. Yet BAFTA and the BBC failed both the disability community AND the Black community in how they handled this moment. We discuss:- The impossible position both communities were put in due to the BBC's actions or lack thereof- Why institutional preparation and response failed catastrophically- The difference between individual accountability and systemic responsibility- How ableism and anti-Black racism played out in the aftermath (including the idea of "he meant that shit" comments)- What should have happened vs. what did happen- The broader conversation about representation, disability, and whose comfort gets prioritizedThis is a conversation about nuance, compassion, and holding institutions accountable when they fail vulnerable communities.Full Black on Black Cinema episodes coming soon. Have you stopped to consider the number of lies Democrats tell themselves? It's enormous.I don't know how they live themselves, except to say they're scared to leave the cult.Blatant lies.Covid. Vaccine effectiveness. Masks. Etc.Guns. Border policy. 2020 election. 2022 midterms. J6.The strangest thing about the hypothetical was not the shouting. It was the silence. At precisely midnight, something shifted. No executive order. No Supreme Court ruling. No viral hashtag. Just an inexplicable civic condition: every Democrat in America, from city council to Capitol Hill, suddenly lost the ability to lie.Not exaggerate. Not deflect. Not rebrand. Lie.By sunrise, the cable news studios looked like aquariums after someone forgot to oxygenate the tank. Pundits opened their mouths with the usual choreography, but what came out was unfiltered oxygen. Raw. Bracing. Occasionally fatal to reputations. The first hearings convened before breakfast.A senior Democrat, long fond of describing January 6 as an existential threat on par with Pearl Harbor and 9/11, leaned toward the microphone and admitted that while the riot was disgraceful, the apocalyptic rhetoric proved politically invaluable. It unified a fractured caucus. It redirected scrutiny away from pandemic policy failures. It froze debate. “Most secure election in history,” another repeated, before clarifying that security and public confidence are not synonyms, particularly after states rewrote voting procedures under emergency authority while private actors poured hundreds of millions into local election administration. He even cited the now well documented “Zuckerberg grants,” the $419 million channeled through the Center for Tech and Civic Life, a figure reported widely in 2021 and dissected in state legislatures thereafter. What had once been framed as “philanthropy” was now described, under duress of honesty, as asymmetrical infrastructure. Legal, perhaps. Neutral, not exactly. Then the conversation pivoted to COVID.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Some political mistakes fade quietly into history, tucked away between polling cycles and rewritten talking points. But not all.Others arrive dressed in prime-time lighting, broadcast in high definition, replayed endlessly while consultants stare at screens wondering how nobody saw it coming. The Democrats' reaction to President Donald Trump's 2026 State of the Union belongs firmly in the second category.Because this was not merely a bad night for the opposition party. It was not a messaging error, a tone problem, or an unfortunate collection of viral clips. It was a strategic catastrophe, the kind that reshapes political permission structures for years, possibly decades.Democrats did not just oppose Trump, they publicly validated his central argument about them. The Setup Everyone Saw Except ThemBy the time Trump entered the House chamber, the script was already written, though only one side appeared to recognize it.Trump version 2.0 is not the improvisational insurgent of 2016. This is a president who has learned the rhythms of power, the psychology of opponents, and most importantly, the media ecosystem that converts moments into narrative gravity.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
As parents, many of us want to raise kind, empathetic kids, but we don't always feel equipped to talk about race, bias, and identity in everyday life. In honor of Black History Month, this conversation feels especially important. I sit down with culturally responsive therapist Anjali Ferguson to unpack how early children begin noticing differences and how small, ordinary moments shape their understanding of the world. We talk about the discomfort adults feel, the fear of saying the wrong thing, and why silence often teaches more than we realize. This episode is not about blame. It is about giving families tools to move forward with intention. Dr. Ferguson brings both professional expertise and deeply personal experience as a South Asian woman raising biracial South Asian and Black children. Together we explore how culture, trauma, and identity intersect in parenting, and why these conversations are not optional extras, but foundational to raising emotionally healthy kids. Her children's book, An Ordinary Day, shows how subtle bias can show up in everyday childhood experiences and how families can use those moments to build empathy instead of fear. My hope is that this episode helps parents feel less frozen and more ready to start small, stay curious, and keep showing up. We discussed: • Why kids notice race and differences earlier than most adults expect • How racial bias forms in early childhood • The gap in culturally responsive parenting resources • Growing up between cultures and identity formation • Raising biracial children and protecting cultural identity • Everyday microaggressions and their long-term impact • How racism creates chronic stress in the body • Generational trauma and epigenetic effects • The role of racial socialization in protecting children • Why avoiding conversations about race harms kids • How parents can respond when bias shows up in real time • Teaching empathy through ordinary daily moments • Building diverse environments through books, toys, and media • Supporting kids when they experience exclusion or bias • Why parents don't have to be perfect to start • Practical ways families can talk about race at any age To connect with Dr. Anjali Ferguson follow her on Instagram @dranjaliferguson, check out all her resources at https://draferguson.com/ and buy her book “An Ordinary Day”: https://www.amazon.com/Ordinary-Day-Dr-Anjali-Ferguson/dp/B0B8BDNXVK Additional Resources: www.parentingculture.org 00:00 The Hidden Impact of Microaggressions 00:56 Why This Conversation Matters During Black History Month 02:57 Representation in Parenting Spaces 06:34 Dr. Anjali's Personal Story: Culture, Trauma, and Identity 10:42 Racism as Trauma: A Professional Awakening 14:30 Parenting Biracial Black Children 19:32 When Do Kids Notice Race? 24:56 Inside An Ordinary Day and Why It Matters 31:37 Chronic Stress, Racism, and Long-Term Health 37:13 What to Say When Bias Happens 42:51 Why Every Family Must Talk About Race 47:18 You Will Mess Up, And That's Okay Our podcasts are also now on YouTube.
