7/15/25 - Power Plays: Confronting Marxism in America

    Mark Levin Podcast

On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, the new word the Marxists are using to justify the fundamental transformation of America is affordability.  Marxist regimes produce shortages, impoverishment, and dislocation—not prosperity. This is equality in destitution, enforced by coercion and a police state. New York is expensive due to soft-Marxism: rent controls, high taxes, smothering regulations, powerful unions. It will depopulate workers and businesses, attracting destitute, welfare recipients, and illegal aliens. As unlivable, Marxist grip tightens with unhinged rhetoric. Marxism is failed, inhumane, evil, attracting demagogues like Zohran Mamdani, akin to young Fidel Castro claiming democracy.  Over time, the tension between institutional constraints and self-aggrandizement erodes safeguards, turning them into facades that enable soft negative power. The result is authoritarian democracy, which is what Mamdani is promoting. Also, wealth redistribution is destructive to wealth creation, as it discourages producers who may reduce output, stop, or relocate (e.g., fleeing New York City), leaving less to redistribute. It's a flawed idea requiring surrender of individual liberty to inexperienced ideologues, historically causing mass starvation and death. True equality means just laws for all, not unattainable economic equality . Instead, we should celebrate freedom and capitalism, enabling ordinary Americans—like plumbers or drivers—to enjoy abundant choices and live better than past kings, while government represents socialism and individuals embody capitalism. Success, once valued, is now undermined by DEI. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Since January, Americans have had serious concerns about Elon Musk's DOGE (the “Department of Government Efficiency”) and the privacy of our personal data. The government used to have careful guardrails in place to protect our information. Only certain people, after careful background checks, were given access. But DOGE was given unprecedented access to all of our data, across departments and agencies. And because Trump fast-tracked DOGE with an executive order, employees didn't have to go through the same background checks and screenings. Many were teenagers, including the now infamous 19-year-old hacker whose online name is (sigh) “Big Balls.”Okay, but Elon is gone now. So does that mean DOGE is over? Unfortunately, no. DOGE was never an official government agency (it just hijacked the existing US Digital Service), and Elon Musk was never officially in charge of it, so even without Elon, the work continues. A former DOGE employee is now the chief of staff at the Department of Energy, for example, and two former DOGE members are now senior officials at the Environmental Protection Agency. “Big Balls” himself is now working at the Social Security Administration.Meanwhile, Peter Thiel—another billionaire and the founder of the tech company Palantir—has been working to build a massive, government-run database of Americans. The goal is a one-stop shop with all of our information, from tax returns to medical records, all in the same place. You know, exactly the thing the government has always known not to do.Privacy used to be nonpartisan. Back in the 1970s, Republican Senator Charles Percy said, “I hope that we never see the day when a bureaucrat in Washington can use his organization's computer facilities to assemble a complete dossier of all known information about an individual.” Even in the past few years, data privacy has been an issue that transcends political parties. So reach out to your representatives, no matter where you live, to let them know that you don't want billionaires to have your data. And if all of this feels too overwhelming, try getting involved in your local community. We might not be able to do much about what's happening with our information, but we can make things better for our neighbors. For a transcript of this episode, please email comms@redwine.blue. In this episode of The P.A.S. Report, Professor Nick Giordano sits down with Mark Meckler, President of the Convention of States, to explore the growing disconnect between the American people and their government. He explains why Americans no longer trust government and how to fix it. As public trust continues to erode, Meckler breaks down how entrenched bureaucracy, unpunished corruption, and an unaccountable political class have warped the system beyond recognition. They also discuss the potential of third-party movements like Elon Musk's and why the Convention of States may be the only real solution to restore constitutional principles, enforce term limits, and rein in runaway spending. Episode Highlights: The Convention of States offers a constitutional path to implement term limits, enforce fiscal restraints, and shrink the federal bureaucracy. Elon Musk's rumored third-party movement could fracture the GOP and reshape political coalitions. America's unelected bureaucratic class now functions as an unaccountable fourth branch of government.

In this episode of Badlands Book Club, CannCon and Ashe in America explore Chapter 6 of Overruled by Justice Neil Gorsuch and Janie Nitze, delving into the tension between ordered liberty and oppressive regulation. They highlight stories of ordinary Americans, foster parents sidelined over faith, hair braiders and eyebrow threaders crushed by arbitrary licensing laws, and recovering addicts devastated by pandemic isolation. The reading underscores how overreaching rules, from cosmetology mandates to emergency COVID edicts, systematically erode community bonds and self-reliance. The hosts reflect on the paradox of laws meant to protect freedom but increasingly used to control dissent, shut down small businesses, and undermine civic trust. Drawing connections to modern ideological warfare and the deliberate centralization of authority, they share frustrations and cautionary lessons. The conversation closes with a call to reclaim sovereignty by resisting demoralization, defending the right to associate, and standing firm against bureaucratic overreach.

Trump's Tariffs Paying Off The economic impact of Trump-era tariffs, with the hosts highlighting a rare federal budget surplus in June 2025. They argue that despite media narratives, tariffs have not triggered significant inflation and instead have generated substantial revenue. The conversation also critiques Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for high interest rates, which they claim have frozen the housing market and stifled economic growth. The hosts advocate for rate cuts to stimulate recovery, pointing to record-high stock market performance and strong job growth under Trump’s second term. Gov. Gavin Salesman Clay and Buck analyze California Governor Gavin Newsom’s national ambitions, suggesting he is positioning himself as a frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination. They critique Newsom’s evasive responses on controversial issues like transgender policies and youth gender surgeries, portraying him as a polished but insubstantial figure who avoids taking firm stances. The discussion frames Newsom as emblematic of a Democratic strategy that relies on charm and ambiguity rather than policy clarity. Illegal Immigration Realities Deep dive into the pressing issues surrounding illegal immigration, border security, and the economic impact of immigration policies in the United States. The hosts open with a discussion on the controversial “Alligator Alcatraz” ICE facility near the Everglades, using it as a springboard to critique the media’s portrayal of immigration enforcement and the emotional narratives often used by the political left. A major theme throughout this hour is the economic burden of illegal immigration, with Clay and Buck arguing that the influx of undocumented migrants contributes to rising housing costs, overcrowded emergency rooms, and inflated hotel prices—particularly in cities like New York City. They highlight how Airbnb regulations and the use of hotels to house migrants have disrupted local markets, driving up costs for everyday Americans. Can You Believe This Question? Media bias and cultural influence, particularly in sports journalism. Clay and Buck react to a viral moment from the MLB All-Star Game press conference, where a reporter from Defector confronted MLB officials over Georgia’s voting laws. Clay and Buck criticize what they call “agenda journalism” and highlight the irony of punishing Atlanta—a majority Black city—for state-level legislation. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade three years ago, the question of abortion's legality and availability returned to the states. As of now, abortion remains broadly legal in more than 30 states and Washington, D.C. In some, like Kansas, Missouri and Montana, abortion is still legal largely because of voters. But while Trump spent a lot of time on the campaign trail trying to avoid the topic of abortion, his new tax and spending law proves that the GOP has stayed laser focused on restricting the rights of everyday Americans. It contains a provision that prevents health care nonprofits like Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion care provider, from receiving Medicaid reimbursements for one year for ANY services – even those not related to abortion. Mary Ziegler, a professor at UC Davis School of Law who focuses on the history and politics of reproduction, healthcare and conservatism, explains how the new law could limit your ability to access health care and threaten Planned Parenthood. And in headlines: Trump announced the U.S. will send Patriot missiles to Ukraine, a bunch of states sued the Trump administration for withholding money for after-school care and English language programs, and former New York Gov. Just two weeks ago, New Yorkers voted en masse for a self-proclaimed socialist—someone who once called for “seizing the means of production.” This is, of course, Zohran Mamdani, who dominated in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor with a definitive victory over Andrew Cuomo. He has called for rent freezes, free buses, and even government-run grocery stores. He won 56 percent of the vote in a campaign fueled by young, highly educated, wealthy people—many of whom believe in reviving socialism here in America, in 2025. According to a Cato Institute poll from May: 62 percent of Americans age 18 to 29 say they hold a “favorable view” of socialism. And 34 percent had a positive view of communism. Polls by Emerson and Marist from May and June had shown Mamdani leading with voters under 45 by as much as a 2:1 ratio against the former governor. This phenomenon has left many people wondering: Why are so many young people embracing a failed economic system? Is it their university education? Is it the influence of social media? Is it just “cool”? Is it a desperate call for anything to fix wealth inequality? Or is it something else? Here to help us understand are Tyler Cowen and Kyla Scanlon. The law changes eligibility rules, and some predictions estimate at least 10.5 million people will be eliminated from the program. “For some adults, Medicaid will step in and help pay for care at home, or if care at home is not available, for care in nursing homes,” said Rachel Werner, executive director of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. “With the cuts to Medicaid funding, we are expecting that the availability of care in both of those settings will diminish, and it will be harder for people to get the care they need to live independently.” States will have to respond to the changes by either making up the funding gap or reducing services. On the show today, Werner explains how the funding cuts could limit the caregiving options for older Americans who need at-home care and place a larger responsibility on their families. Trickle-downers love to pretend that "Econ 101" is a convincing argument against policies like the minimum wage that invest in working Americans. But the truth is that mainstream economists are terrible at predicting how the economy will behave in the future…Is Econ 101 broken? In this key foundational episode for the podcast, we dismantle the myths of orthodox economics and expose Econ 101 for what it really is: not a science, but a simplistic story used to justify inequality and defend the status quo. Our guests Eric Beinhocker (The Origin of Wealth) and James Kwak (Economism) explain how outdated assumptions about markets, people, and growth have warped economic thinking—and why it's time to write a new, better story about how the economy actually works. Part of our Back-to-Basics summer series. Essential listening for anyone ready to move beyond trickle-down talking points and think middle-out. This episode originally aired December 17, 2018. Eric Beinhocker is the Executive Director of the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the University of Oxford. He's the author of The Origin of Wealth, which applies complexity science to economics and challenges traditional market thinking. James Kwak is a writer, law professor, and former entrepreneur. He co-authored 13 Bankers and wrote Economism: Bad Economics and the Rise of Inequality, a sharp critique of how Econ 101 ideology shapes public policy and deepens inequality. Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday's 3 Martini Lunch, as they examine an encouraging new poll about stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons, a disturbing one about how many Americans still believe Trump colluded with Russia in 2016, and Andrew Cuomo restarting his campaign for New York City mayor after getting crushed in the Democratic primary.First, they welcome a new Harvard-Harris poll showing 80 percent of Americans believe the U.S. should do whatever is necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, including 93 percent of Republicans, 75 percent of independents, and 71 percent of Democrats. But there's an interesting twist when voters are asked about the recent U.S. strikes against Iran.Next, they shake their heads at a new Rasmussen survey showing 60 percent of Democrats still believe Donald Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 campaign, despite the Mueller Report and volumes of reporting showing otherwise. But it's not just Dems. There are still absurd numbers of moderates and conservatives who believe the same thing. Finally, after being soundly rejected by voters in the New York City Democratic primary, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo concludes the people really do want him so he will continue his campaign as a third-party candidate. Cuomo also says the non-Mamdani candidates should unite around whoever is running strongest among them by early September. Whether it's tracing a family tree back generations or holding on to stories told around the dinner table, genealogy offers a powerful sense of connection—a connection that can shape identities, claims of property, and even arguments for freedom. But genealogy isn't just a modern-day hobby. In early America, genealogy was a deeply consequential practice with social, political, and legal implications. In this episode, I share my full DEXA scan results, including a visceral fat score of 0.38 pounds, which I’m determined to drop to “0.0 fricking zero” through sprinting—shown in research to preferentially burn visceral fat. My body fat is 21 pounds (12.5%), and I break down the fat and lean mass distribution throughout my body, including minor asymmetries. I was advised to gain 2–3 pounds of muscle for longevity, though my sprinting and high jump goals favor staying lean. I discuss why chronic endurance training can increase visceral fat due to cortisol overproduction, while short, explosive workouts like sprints or strength training create a healthy stress response. You’ll also learn why bone density suffers in cyclists and astronauts, what makes muscles a glucose sink, why Dr. Ron Sinha and Dr. Gabrielle Lyon emphasize maintaining muscle as the key to long-term health and metabolic flexibility, and I end the show with a plug for muscle-centric medicine—focusing on building and maintaining muscle as the key to longevity and leanness. TIMESTAMPS: There are three types of body fat. Brown fat is what cold therapy tends to activate. [01:07] The viseral fat collects in and around the abdominal organs and is extremely health destructive. [03:05] Testosterone replacement therapy is popular however one can also choose to focus on lifestyle optimization before you consider it. [04:20] The accumulaition of viseral fat is a sign that the body's fat storage systems have become overwhelmed. [10:34] Subcutaneous fat is soft and squishy. [12:38] The DEXA scan can examine the inside of your body. Sixty-eight percent of Americans are classified as overweight or obese. [13:31] If you have competitive goals, your body is going to respond to the training stimulus and create the body that is optimal for what you are doing to it. [22:40] For endurance training for a marathon or Ironman Triathlon, you to store visceral fat. [26:47] Our hectic stressful life causes a chronic overproduction of stress hormones. [28:41] More summary of the DEXA scan shows bone density, the weight of the skeleton, and how the viseral fat surrounds your organs. [30:01] The Tour de France cyclists lose bone density because they are sitting on their bikes instead of doing weight bearing exercise. [31:54] One can check out you viseral fat score by measuring your waistline. People have experimented with changing their body weight in a single day. [35:48] Focus on muscle mass. Send us a textDid you know your retirement account could be used to invest in real estate, private businesses, cryptocurrency, or virtually any other asset class? Most Americans don't, and it's costing them millions in potential wealth. In this eye-opening conversation with Adam Bergman, founder of IRA Financial Group and tax attorney, we explore the hidden power of self-directed IRAs and how they're revolutionizing retirement planning. Adam reveals that despite what most financial institutions tell you, IRAs have remarkably few limitations—you can't buy collectibles like art, you can't purchase life insurance, and you can't engage in self-dealing transactions. Everything else? Fair game. The wealth-building potential is staggering. Adam shares how investing just $5,000 annually from age 25 to 70 with an 11% return (achievable through alternative investments) could yield nearly $5 million tax-free. Compare that to a taxable account, which would only generate about $2 million with the same contributions and returns. The system is literally "rigged in our favor," as Adam puts it, yet most Americans never take full advantage. What's particularly concerning is the concentration risk in traditional retirement accounts. The S&P 500, where most Americans have their retirement funds, is heavily weighted toward just ten companies that make up approximately 80% of its value. Meanwhile, over 80% of companies with revenues exceeding $100 million are privately held—meaning they're completely inaccessible to traditional retirement accounts. Self-directed IRAs solve this problem.Beyond investment strategies, Adam shares his personal philosophy on balancing business success with family life, physical health, and philanthropy. His advice on career transitions is particularly valuable: rather than abruptly quitting your job to pursue a passion, find ways to leverage your existing expertise while building something new on the side.Whether you're just starting your retirement planning journey or looking to diversify an existing portfolio, this conversation provides actionable insights that could transform your financial future. We unpacked what personal branding really means, why it's not about boasting, and how sharing your story can help you attract better-fit clients. Whether you've been in business for years or you're just starting out, this conversation will challenge the way you think about visibility, reputation, and what it really takes to stand out. Personal Branding Isn't Bragging — It's About Being Understood So many people stay quiet online because they're afraid of sounding self-promotional. But the truth is, people don't just want to know what you do–they want to know who you really are. We talk about why your past experiences, values, and even career pivots are worth including in your story. Take a look at your own LinkedIn or About page: is it helping people understand you…or just giving them a list of facts? Can Being Too Polarizing Lose You Clients? I share my take on whether or not you should be polarizing—and whether it can help or hurt your personal and business brand. We talked about the difference between standing out and turning people away, and why losing the wrong clients is often a win. Join hosts Clay Edwards, Shaun Yurtkuran, and Lindsey Beckham for another raw, unfiltered dive into the issues shaping America on Uncensored Live. Streaming live every Sunday through Thursday at 8 PM on our social media channels (Facebook, X, YouTube, and Rumble @SaveJXN or Clay Edwards Show), this nightly show delivers honest conversations without the spin. In Episode 7—our second Monday in a row—we're feeling energized and ready to tackle the tough topics, from border policies to historical close calls and beyond. If you missed our underwhelming performance last night (thanks to a killer headache), we're redeeming ourselves tonight!   We kick off with some behind-the-scenes fun: tech glitches in the studio (why can Lindsey hear Clay loud and clear but not Shaun?), a pitch for a new show name—"Unfiltered" instead of "Uncensored" for a fresh twist—and a shoutout to Clay's merch site where you can snag the OG FAFO shirt for just $15 in 2XL (gray or black available now!).   The heart of the episode is a fiery recap of Shaun and Lindsey's daytime show Crossing the Aisle on WYAB (12-1 PM weekdays), where sparks flew over immigration polling numbers showing only 38% of Americans supporting the current administration's mass immigration policies. We debate Shaun's analogy of the long-time Home Depot worker who's been in the U.S. for 20 years—criminal or not? Clay argues that illegal entry makes one a criminal by definition, while Shaun pushes for nuance, prioritizing dangerous offenders first as per Trump's campaign promises. Lindsey weighs in on pathways to citizenship for non-violent contributors who've paid taxes and built lives here. We explore employer accountability: should businesses face penalties for knowingly hiring undocumented workers via fake IDs or third-party agencies? Google dives reveal civil fines up to $3,000 per employee and potential jail time, plus real-world examples like ICE raids on Mississippi chicken plants. The conversation evolves into cultural insights—praising Hispanic work ethic and community integration while contrasting it with challenges from other groups like Haitians in Miami or Muslims in England, as discussed on Patrick Bet-David's podcast.   We reflect on the one-year anniversary of the Trump assassination attempt in Butler, PA, replaying the chilling audio and appreciating Trump's defiant "fight, fight, fight" moment. What if he'd been killed? We avoided civil unrest, conspiracy-fueled wars among Americans, and a chaotic GOP nomination floor fight (Nikki Haley as frontrunner?). Plus, thoughts on potential deepfakes, Biden conspiracies, and how history might remember this iconic event with statues someday.   Diving deeper, we touch on birth rates (Hispanics lead, potentially shifting demographics post-Roe), language assimilation (learn Spanish to bridge gaps while insisting on English?), and why American Christians are drilled to defend Israel unquestioningly—questioning if it's the same biblical Israel amid modern geopolitics and accusations of genocide in Gaza. We call out biases: criticizing Israel's government isn't antisemitism, just as critiquing Jackson, MS, isn't racism.   Local flavor includes a Hattiesburg attorney arrested for allegedly embezzling $450K from a widow's settlement—his second rodeo after voter fraud charges. We discuss bar association oversight and how some start corrupt young.   Entertainment roundup: Highly recommend Sinners (vampires in 1920s Clarksdale juke joints—think Crossroads meets Dusk Till Dawn); skip the new Gladiator. Excitement for F1 with Brad Pitt, but mixed on Superman and Fantastic Four.   Super chats from fans like Peekaboo, Angela (Mic Magazine), AB, Matthew Gibson, and more—thanks for the support! Catch us tomorrow on WYAB or right here. Subscribe, share, and join the uncensored conversation. What do you think—criminal or contributor? Drop your takes in the comments!

When Republicans passed their big domestic policy bill just over a week ago, they kept making the same argument about sweeping changes to Medicaid: that the measures, including new work requirements, would encourage able-bodied adults to earn their health care, ultimately creating a fairer system for everyone. Critics said the opposite: they have predicted that millions of working people who need health care will lose it.The truth will emerge in rural and often Republican-voting areas where cuts to Medicaid funding will be felt most deeply. Natalie Kitroeff spoke to a family doctor in one of those places, western North Carolina, about what she thinks will happen to her patients.Guest: Shannon Dowler, a family physician and health advocate in western North Carolina. Background reading: In North Carolina, President Trump's domestic policy law jeopardizes plans to reopen one rural county's hospital — and health coverage for hundreds of thousands of state residents. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted that the Senate's version of Trump's bill would mean that 11.8 million more Americans would become uninsured by 2034.For more information on today's episode, visit nytimes.com/thedaily.
