Bigger isn't better when it creates barriers to entry and places the economic viability of an industry at risk. This is an interesting stance from the association that hosts the largest Arabian show in the world. Taryl O'Shea, Executive Director of the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona (AHAA), joins the Cowboys to discuss responsible growth, introducing more people to the horse lifestyle, and creating paths for entry that encourage longevity. This episode is for all horse enthusiasts regardless of your breed preference. Arabian owners will enjoy the spotlight on their breed while we learn how to work together to advance the equine industry. We'll explore the state of the industry and how to meet the challenges we face now and in the future. At the Cowboy Office Today: Taryl O'Shea Executive Director of the AHAA Owner of Event Management by Taryl Manager and producer of equine events worldwide The AHAA was established in 1955 with the majority of horses being imported from Poland. The AHAA now hosts the largest Arabian show in the world! To keep their association strong and nimble, the AHAA hosts not only shows accredited by the Arabian Horse Association (AHA) and United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), but also stand alone shows that allow for more flexibility. The Scottsdale Arabian Show is held February 16-26 and boasts the title “World's Greatest Horse Show.” What makes the AHAA so confident in their ability to deliver? They start with over 2000 Arabian horses, offer more than 1000 classes, and add an expansive Immersive Horse Experience to the mix. Spectators line up to go hands on with horses of all breeds. Beginners can learn to lead a horse and discover how they communicate through body language, others will be able to ride or learn about surcingle work, and then there's the opportunity to meet the movie stars of the Arabian world through their Ambassador program. The horse industry, like most others, is coming out of a challenging few years following the pandemic. With the help of outside forces like Yellowstone, the industry is now recovering well and excitement for the western lifestyle is building. Breedings and registrations are down across many breed associations, but the AHAA is seeing exponential growth of half Arabians thanks to their ability to cross well with other breeds. Balance is now the name of the game and developing new and better ways to get people involved while supporting the base of the industry is vital. How do we achieve the balance of fun and affordability with the need for professionals to earn a living? How do we get more people involved when many of our events are already busting at the seams? How do we get better when simply getting bigger isn't the best option? What you think is required to lose fat isn't usually what is actually required. What you've been told is required to lose fat isn't usually what's actually required. And if you keep spending time and energy on low-yield, or even detrimental, actions, you'll stay stuck spending effort without reward. I am talking about following myths: Myth 1: Losing weight is about finding “right” diet Myth 2: To lose weight you just eat less calories and/or burn more Myth 3: To lose weight you must cut all unhealthy food And this isn't just about opening your eyes to what isn't required; I'll also be talking about what IS required. Jonin kahdella pojalla on seitsemän vuoden ikäero. Happy Forest School is a story about the first day of school after the summer holidays and all the activities that day with someone learning that school is fun.Free activity sheet available at www.rituvaish.com/the-happy-forest-school Send your artwork to rituvaish@gmail.com.TranscriptThere was once a big forest with tall and short trees, huge and tiny leafed creepers, vibrant and pastel-coloured flowers and of course lots of animals. There was a famous school in this forest called the “Happy Forest School”. Children, who do you think are the students in this school? The long summer holidays had ended, and it was the first day of school. All the animals were very happy to return to school. The blue jays and the eagles were the first to reach. They took their seat in the lush green banyan tree. The well-disciplined horses neighed good morning to all the friends and strode towards the stable and took their places there. Next, the pigs snorted and reached the sty, rolled in the mud and sat quietly. The cows mooed joyfully as they entered the school and went to their shed. After that, the sheep bleated and greeted all. They smiled and went to their pen.The school which had a deserted all through the summer holidays look now was bubbling with life. Children, when you went to school after the summer holidays, what two new things did you observe in the school? That's interesting. All the animals were talking and sharing their summer holiday stories. It was also the little green parrot's first day of school. She was not happy about going to school and wanted to be home with her family. She was afraid to be away from her parents and she just knew the school wouldn't have her favorite food – the red chili. Her mother coaxed her and helped to get ready. As tears were rolling down her green cheeks, the soft sobs got converted into loud cries. With a great difficulty, mom and dad made her fly to the school, packing one chili in her bag in case she was hungry, and promising yummy guavas when she returned. They helped her settle in the tree where all the birds were sitting.Children, what's your favourite snack to take to school?Great! As her parents flew away, the parrot reached into her bag to grab her chili to comfort her. As she placed it into her mouth, she let out a sneeze and the chili fell to the floor. She stared at the ground as she watched a horse in her class step on it and kick it out of sight. “How careless,” she thought as tears rolled down her face. The other birds welcomed her to the class, “Good Morning green parrot!” The green parrot heard it but turned the other way choosing not to reply. She was still sobbing and hopped to the furthest branch of the tree, away from all other birds. Children, what was she trying to do by going away from all the other birds?Yes, she wanted to tell everyone that she was not happy in the school. It was at that moment that the teacher walked into the “Happy Forest School”. The teacher was the wise and old owl. The owl hooted loudly, “Good Morning! Welcome back to school. Hope you all enjoyed your summer holidays!”.All the animals except the parrot waved good morning. The owl further added, “How about we share what all did we do in these holidays!”One piglet from the sty raised her hand, “I had so much fun playing hide and seek with all my cousins who visited us.”“And we all were sheared as we had grown a lot of wool, that sure helped us deal with the summer better,” bleated the sheep in unison.“I am glad, the wool on your body must be making you feel so hot,” added the owl.“How about the horses? How were your summer holidays?”“We had fun galloping in the meadows!” they all neighed. All the other animals shared their stories. All were excited to listen to each other's stories, except the baby parrot. By now the sun was shining, and it was starting to get hot. The green parrot was sweating. The owl asked them to open their books and start reading. The papers flapped, but the baby parrot revolted, “I don't want to read in this heat. I want to go back home.” And she started whining again. All the other birds asked her to be quiet. But the parrot whined, “I want to go home. I want to go home!”One of the Blue Jays said, “Your nest is in a tree, and this is also a tree. Think of this as your home.”“No! My home is the lovely nest mummy made in the neem tree, not this banyan tree,” screeched the green parrot. The owl teacher asked everybody to focus on their books and read the lesson.Soon it was mealtime. The owl teacher said, “All the birds go and clean your beaks and claws.”“The cows and sheep wash your mouths,” advised the owl.“The horses you must clean your muzzle properly,” hooted the owl.“Ummmm…pigs! Try to be clean and do not dirty your pen,” requested the owl.The animals rushed to the water tap.The animals washed and reached back to their seats. The owl gave the cows and sheep green grass and leaves. The horse got a treat of some hay.Next, the teacher gave seeds in a neat heap to the birds. The little green parrot stayed in the tree crying, “I don't like nuts. I want a chili!”All the birds were enjoying the nuts trying to ignore the green parrot, when they heard the green parrot who had started crying loudly, “I need to eat, I am hungry.” A cow came and offered some green grass. The parrot yelled, “I don't eat grass, go away!” The owl asked her to speak softly and not to be rude.Children, what do think, was the cow kind or unkind?Yes, she was kindhearted as she gave some green grass to the little parrot. The sheep rushed to the parrot with an idea. They told the parrot to go to the steep hill to the east of the school and get some chilies. The word chilies made the parrot's mouth water, and at that very moment she flew to the hill. It saw the green chilly plant with red chilies hanging. Her mouth watered and she started eating the chilies. The mealtime was now over. All the animals were back in their seats. But the parrot was not there in the tree. The teacher sent the eagle to bring her back. The eagle flew and asked the parrot to return. But the parrot wanted to eat and play. It did not want to go back to school. The eagle comforted her and said, “It is Wednesday today and only two more days of school then the week will be over. You will be free over the weekend to play the whole day. Let us return to the school now.”The parrot shook her head and laughed, “Why would I leave my chilies?” she told the eagle. The eagle knew that she could not change the parrot's mind, so she decided to fly back. But before she did, she asked to share a bit from the parrot for she had never had chili. The parrot didn't want to share but the eagle seemed hungry, and the green parrot shared one red chili. As the eagle took its first bite of chili, its eyes lit up. “Wow! No wonder you want to stay, these are delicious!” the eagle said smiling. The parrot was delighted, “Have more.” The two friends ate a few more chilis and started to talk. After some time, the eagle asked again if they could head back to school since she was getting thirsty now. Children, what do you think, would the parrot return to the school?Let's listen ahead. The parrot's mood had changed after making a new friend and she was more accepting to ideas. She sure liked the eagle's idea. She was happy and went back to the banyan tree. After lunch was playing time, and the baby parrot played hide and seek with everyone. Soon, they were back in their places to read again. Children, what do you think their books were about?Ahaa! That's great imagination. Fortunately, the baby parrot also started reading. She was comfortable and happy.Soon, the bell that marked the end of school rang, all the animals bade goodbye to each other and the teacher. The owl asked the parrot, “I hope to see you tomorrow. I'll have chilies ready for you.” “Yes! I will be here! I think I like it here!” she waved her wings and flew back home. Now she was eager and delighted to attend the school every day, for the school was indeed - Happy Forest School.
Hello hello! We are welcoming you on this beautiful sunny day. And again, we gathered around our microphones to chat up a little. I should tell you all, there is something different with my buddy here He looks so refreshed today. I didn't do much honestly. I've been to the barbershop. That's the reason. That's why you look younger! Don't you know that I am ALWAYS young! Can't you feel my energy even from my voice? Tell me, what's on the agenda today? You surely are! I don't know, maybe I'll be partying today since this is the weekend time. “THE AGENDA” of today. You know, our podcast's.. The thing we are literally doing at the moment? Ahaa that agenda! Sorry I lost myself in the thoughts of partying. [giggles.] First, let's dive into some mysteries all together. Then you can continue partying in your head, or wherever.. Okay.. Party out, calmness in! But let me calm you down even more than necessary for a while. Imagine that you feel a little light-headed, your legs feel so heavy that you don't want to walk anymore and you fall asleep within minutes. You wake up days later and remember nothing. Sounds weird, right? But this was actually happening somewhere on our planet. Today we are taking you all to some villages. But they are not the ordinary ones.. Definitely not. Tell me, what comes to your mind when you hear the word “village”? A tranquil place in nature where people live peacefully. What about you? Something similar. Small houses, farms and lots of cows! Who'd tell I'd have some goosebumps when I read about all those crazy things about some of these so-called “peaceful” villages. One of these villages is in Kazakhstan ; Kalachi. Here the story goes; one day, a man called Viktor tries to go to a nearby town but he never makes it there because on the way he suddenly falls asleep while riding! Ooops! Then off to the hospital, right? Can he tell what happened? He wakes up 4 days after, and remembers NOTHING! The story becomes more odd when you find out there are MANY MORE cases like this in the same place. There is a woman who has experienced this “sleepy hollow” issue like 3 times! In her first time, she comes home from work and has a total black-out. She opens her eyes at the hospital a few days later. Cherry on the top, Her neighbor rushes to take her back home. Also she falls asleep while driving! Her second time happens while preparing to see a concert. She starts feeling dizzy and ta daa! 5 days after she's back in the hospital again! I guess you are under the village effect! He has literally just yawned guys… Be careful you might miss out on your parties tonight. Haha, I couldn't help it. We keep talking about sleeping! Anyway, when the same woman experiences this 3rd time, it happens a little differently tho. She doesn't fall asleep but her body goes numb. She can't walk properly and she cannot remember what she tells people. As if she was under anesthesia! Yeah. In the same village, her husband goes fishing and ends up at the hospital after he blacks out like her. When he talks about what happened, his words don't really make sense. I think She finally sees how she looked when this happened to her 3 times. But still.. Questions remain.. How does this thing happen? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

You know for years before I met Jesus, I'd hear Christians rabbiting on about the Good news of Jesus. Give me a break. But it wasn't until I heard the bad news that I realised how fantastic the Good News really was! The Bad News Now depending on whether you enjoy your job or not, Monday is either good news or bad news. And the statistics tells us that around two thirds of people don't enjoy their jobs. That's a tragedy! So for them, for these two thirds – there is every chance that you are one of them – this work thing is a bunch of bad news. Now you and I, we would rather have good news than bad news. I would and I'm sure you would too. And so when it comes to thinking about God, well, that has to be good news, doesn't it? I mean, that's what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about. That word "Gospel" literally means, not "truth" as many people think it does, although it is the truth. No, word "Gospel" means "Good News and glad tidings". That's why the angel who spoke to the shepherds on the night of Jesus birth said to them: Don't be afraid; for see, I am bringing you good news of great joy for all people: to you is born this day in the city of David, a saviour who is the Messiah, the Lord. Ahaa! There it was! Good News! Hallelujah! But sad to say, before we talk about the good news, which we are going to do later in the programme, first … first we have to talk about the bad news. How many times have we heard that line, "There's good news and there's bad news, which one do you want to hear first – right?" And inevitably, there are two sides to each coin. And if all I ever talked about on this programme was the good news side of God, then yours truly simply would not be doing his job. But as much as sometimes I would rather ignore it, there is a side to God which, quite frankly, is bad news for the likes of thee and me. At least, as first glance that's how it seems and yet, the reality is that without the bad news, the good news wouldn't seem that good at all. It's when we understand the bad news about God that the good news becomes, well, absolutely fantastic news. That's why today we are kicking off with the bad news. So what's Berni rabbiting on about – good news, bad news? Well, we are in the middle of a series called "Reaping the Harvest of Righteousness". It's about the righteousness of God and it's about the blessing that flows in our lives when you and I live out God's righteousness. And we kind of touched on this a little bit, fleetingly, last week. But we are going to pick up on it and really understand it because understanding the bad news about the righteousness of God is absolutely critical in a) making a decision whether we want to accept Jesus as our Saviour or not and, b) living out His righteousness and experiencing the blessing of that. So what's the bad news? Well, the bad news is that God is righteous. What's this righteousness all about? Well, God is completely, absolutely and utterly free from the scourge of humanity which is sin. There is nothing "wrong" in God. There is nothing impure or unholy or deficient or horrible about God. He is one thousand percent; one million percent righteous, from beginning to end; from eternity to eternity. And the only reason that this is bad news is that you and I aren't! You know that about you and I know that about me – we are nothing like that. We are often selfish and proud and angry and rude. The list goes on. And whilst perhaps, you have been walking with God for a while now and perhaps a lot has changed in your life, some of that muck is still around, right? It's like that classic little prayer that goes something like this: Dear Lord,So far today, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped, haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over indulgent. I'm very thankful for that. But in just a few minutes, God, I'm going to be getting out of bed. And from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot more help. So, as the Apostle Paul writes: We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans chapter 3, verse 23. And the consequences of this sin – this is Romans chapter 6, verse 23: The wages of sin is death. Now, that seems a little harsh, until we get back to the bad news – God is righteous and we aren't. There is nothing in God that is wrong and so His standard, quite simply, is perfection. Now as I was coming to grips with that, early on in my walk with Jesus, the question that I had to resolve in my mind was: well, isn't this just a tad unreasonable? I mean, when I was a child, I made mistakes; I wronged my parents. In fact, I did that over and over and over again, but they didn't take me out the back and shoot me. They might have felt like it and sometimes I was punished but they didn't kick me out of the house or do anything drastic like that. They suffered through my immaturities as parents are meant to do for their children so that the kids can grow up and mature and become responsible adults. That's what parents do so, if God is God the Father, what's with this “the wages of sin is death” thing? I mean, isn't it unreasonable? The original Greek word used in the New Testament for this word "righteousness" had its roots in the concept and the notion of "justice". God is a just God; there are no favourites; there is no partiality. And pretty much none of us would want to argue with that. That's as it should be because injustice is wrong. Often times when a criminal is handed a light sentence by the courts for something that we consider should have attracted a much harsher penalty, well, you and I are incensed. Why, because we are mean? No! It's because one of the things that God has handed on to us is His sense of justice. It's part of our DNA. And so God is a just God. It would be something of a disaster if He wasn't – right? And that's the bad news: break the law, get caught. You have to pay the penalty. And in the case of God, because He is pure and He is just and holy and completely righteous, that standard is way, way beyond anything that any human being can attain. I haven't lived a perfect life and nor have you. The only One who has is Jesus, God's own Son. And so the bad news is that you and I fall short of the glory of God and there is an eternal penalty for our rebellion. There is a price to be paid. Hebrews chapter 10: For if we wilfully persist in sin, having received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins but a fearful prospect of judgement and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. So there it is: that's the bad news and it's very, very bad news. Eternity is, after all, a very long time. “The wages of sin is death” – Romans chapter 6, verse 23 – but that's only half the verse and it's only half of the story. The second half of the verse goes like this: But the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. And that is the good news that we are going to be talking about soon. Friend, we don't want to think too much about the fact that sin has a penalty but if we stop and think about it now, we know that our sin has penalties and consequences in our lives today. I know that if I am angry all the time, it is going to ruin my relationships and rob me of peace and joy – it will rob me of a great life. I know that! And as much as our sin has its out-workings and consequences, here in this life – short term, medium term – it also has consequences long term. It definitely has consequences on that day that you and I stand before God and have to give an account of our lives. In a parable that Jesus told, this is what happened to a man who approached God in an unworthy state – Matthew chapter 22, verse 13: The king said to his attendants, “Bind him hand and foot and throw him into the outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” And it's the terror of this bad news that makes the good news so fantastically good. For the wages of sin are death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The Good News Let me ask you a question: how are you doing this fine day? The one thing I know, with frankly millions of people listening to this same message this week, in one hundred and sixty countries around the globe, is that there is going to be a myriad of answers and responses to that question – how are you doing this fine day? Some people are on top of the world, others are in the absolute depths of despair. And between those two extremes there is every shade of grey, right? And wherever we are, some good news would sure go down well: some good news to shine some light into a dark place; some good news to just brighten a mundane day; and even when we are in the middle of a fantastic patch in life, some good news to put it all into perspective. Well, right now we are going to take a look at the good news. As we spend this time together, we are not just going share in some good news, we are going to roll in it; we are going to revel in it; we are going to delight in it because the good news that I am talking about isn't some cliché; it's not some transient spin. This good news is meant to make a difference in our lives, a real difference, in fact a world of difference, an eternal difference. As I said earlier, when it comes to God, there's good news and there's bad news. We are in the middle of a series right now of messages that I have called “Reaping the Harvest of Righteousness”, because when we live out the goodness and the holiness and the wonderfulness; the righteousness of God, there's a huge harvest of blessing in that. Not only the sort of blessing always that the world tells us we should have, you know – healthy, wealthy and wise, but a depth of reward, a joy, a peace as we live out the righteousness of God in our own lives. Bad news though, is that we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the wages of sin is death. The bad news is that God is righteous, you and I aren't and no matter how hard we work; how hard we labour at it, we will still always fall short of the glory and the righteousness and the wonderful perfection of God. And whilst at first, it might seem a tad unreasonable – death because we're not as good as God (seems harsh doesn't it?) – it's that bad news that makes the good news so absolutely, incredibly, wonderfully fantastic. The Apostle Paul has this fantastic knack for hitting the nail on the head; for boiling big things down; huge things – seemingly complex things – down into a sentence or two that people like me and perhaps people like you, can actually get our hearts and our minds around. Have another listen. We looked at it earlier. Romans chapter 6, verse 23: The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. There they are – the two sides of the coin – the bad news and the good news. And remember when we talk about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that word Gospel means “good news”. We are talking about the Good News of Jesus. If I were writing a Bible Dictionary, trying to define that Greek word that's used in the New Testament for "Gospel", I'd redefine it to mean not just good news but absolutely, mind-blowingly fantastic news! Now if you are a Christian and you have sat in a pew for a good many years, each Sunday, maybe this Good News has, well, it's lost its lustre a little bit. You hear something often enough, over and over and over again and well, it becomes mundane; passé; just the way things are. Have to tell you it's happened to me too from time to time. But here's the thing: I wonder how many people really, I mean REALLY understand the enormity of this fantastic news about Jesus? What is going on here, when God does this amazing thing in the face of such terrible news? For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The bad news part of that equation of grace is shockingly terrible news. And if you are someone who has never put their trust in Jesus; if you are someone who has never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and your Saviour, wrap your mind around this because it's meant to be shocking. Luke chapter 16, verses 19 to 26: There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man, Lazarus, covered with sores, who longed to satisfy his hunger with what fell from the rich man's table; even dogs would come and lick his sores. The poor man died and was carried away by the angels to be with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, there he was, being tormented; he looked up and saw Abraham far away with Lazarus by his side. He called out, "Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in cool water to cool my tongue; for I am in agony in these flames." But Abraham said, "Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner received evil things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in agony. Besides all this, between you and us is a great chasm that has been fixed, so that those who might want to pass from here to there cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.” Go ahead, be shocked, come to grips with it! Jesus isn't mincing His words here. He knows about hell and He is painting a vivid picture of the eternal torment of hell. But it's this picture that makes the Good News so great, because when we believe in this Jesus we become as righteous as God and the horrible penalty is lifted off us. See, this is the bit I didn't understand at first. It took me a while to get it. Christians talked about the fact that Jesus' death on the cross bought me a ticket to heaven if I believed, but no one ever explained to me why that was. I needed to know why. For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. I get the first bit. It's just; it's the law – I understand that, but the second bit … Why? Well, let me explain it a little bit further, using some other stuff that Paul wrote, from Second Corinthians chapter 5, verse 21: For our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin”. In other words, he is talking about Jesus. “For our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. If we think of God as a God of justice, then the penalty for our sin has to be paid. Someone has to pay. And out of His love and His mercy, God came up with this crazy plan that He Himself, Jesus His Son, should pay. So He became a man. He was nailed to a cross. He took the sins of all the world – you and me and everyone else – on His shoulders, on that cross. He in effect, became sin: He, who knew no sin, was made to be sin, why? So that you and I might become the righteousness of God – stand before God completely free from sin because the legal price for our sin has been paid – NOT BY US but by the death of the Son of God on the cross. And how do we lay hold of this incredible blessing – of that freedom of forgiveness and eternal life – how do we get it? How do we become as righteous as God Himself? Ephesians chapter 2, verses 8 and 9: For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - not the result of works, so that no one may boast. So, how do we get it? By working hard? No! Not at all! God's grace in Jesus is activated towards us through faith. We obtain the righteousness of God; in fact, we become the righteousness of God, not by working hard, but by believing in Jesus. It's that simple. And that is why this isn't just good news, not even just great news, it's mind-blowingly fantastic news because all … ALL is forgiven! The anger and the wrath and the punishment of God on us, is removed and we now have a new life to live – a life that goes on from now and for all eternity – simply by trusting in what Jesus did for you and for me on that cross. It is that simple! What Do We Make of it All? So, what do you make of all that – the bad news, the good news? I'm trying to imagine standing in front of a judge; a magistrate, having done something wrong. In fact, I remember when I was nineteen years old, driving my car into the back of someone else's car and being charged by the police. I ended up in front of a judge and it was an incredibly daunting thing. He heard the charge, he found me guilty, and what I heard him say was, “Three days in prison.” I was utterly, well, I had the stuffing completely knocked out of me – I was in shock. The judge's gavel hit the bench and the Clerk of the Court ushered me out of the stand and out of the court room. And I said to this man, “Did he just say three days in prison?” I was in shock! And the Clerk of the Court turned to me and said, “No, that's only if you don't pay the sixty five dollar fine - the sentence for sixty five dollars, or in lieu of that, three days in prison.” I can't tell you the relief that flooded through my whole body when I heard that. I thought I was going to jail over something as minor as a traffic infringement, when all I had to do was pay the small fine instead. That, in a very small way, is what this Good News means to me. The sentence that was hovering over my life; the punishment for all of my life was lifted the moment I believed in Jesus; the sentence of eternal death; an eternity in a ferocious hell separated from God, was lifted because Jesus died on the cross and I've chosen to believe. Do you see? The wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. And Romans chapter 5, verse 1, says this: Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we now stand; And we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. Friend, that grace makes all the difference in our lives. Do you believe in Jesus? Then, if you do, you stand justified by that faith – you have been made right with God through your faith in what Jesus accomplished for you on that brutal cross – complete forgiveness, and through that empty tomb, a new life; a resurrection life; born anew into an eternal life. Do you see how fantastic that news is? The problem for so many Christians is we have heard this so many times, it's kind of become "ho, hum", hasn't it? And the problem for many who have never believed in Jesus is that, although consequences of their sin has been nagging away, it never really worked through the bad news, because once you do that – consider and understand this bad news – tell you what, you will want to lay hold of the Good News in Jesus Christ. And friend, if that's something that you want to do today, then why don't you pray this prayer with me right now: Father God, I have heard today and understood the terrible consequences of my sin; my rebellion and I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what I have done wrong and I turn away from that here and now. But I have also heard this Good News; the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ and I believe in Him and this day I give my life over to You. Thank You that I am forgiven. Thank You that I am safe. Thank You that You will place Your Spirit in me to change my life. And thank You that I have a new life; an eternal life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Friend, if you have just prayed that prayer with me, then get to and do something about it. Your enemy, the devil, will come and sow seeds of doubt in your mind. Get a Bible, start reading it. Get with some other Christians in a vibrant, Bible believing faith community and grow into the new life that Jesus, the Son of God, purchased for you on that cross, through His death. The Good News isn't just good news, it is truly fantastic news. Now it's time for each one of us to live it out, for now and for all eternity.

This week we talk with Bruce Lee Superfan Steve Aoki. Steve is a Grammy nominated Electro house musician, DJ and record producer. Steve’s unique musical life is the subject of a new Netflix documentary called “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead," Steve has been a die-hard Bruce Lee devotee since he was a kid. When he was taking karate classes, and he emulated all of Bruce Lee’s moves and became obsessed with watching every Bruce Lee movie repeatedly on VHS. Aoki looked up to Bruce Lee as an Asian man who “made it” when there weren’t any strong Asian role models. Having a strong, kick-ass Asian man like Bruce Lee as a role model helped Aoki build confidence even though he experienced racism growing up in Newport Beach. As a teen, Aoki and his friends studied Bruce’s interviews and read the Tao of Jeet Kune Do together. This practice became the basis for his lifelong love for Bruce Lee’s philosophy. The Bruce Lee quote that Aoki always uses is “Be like water” and he adds “...by any means necessary.” He also uses: “Sometimes a goal is just something to aim at.” He applies these philosophies in his life by being fluid in his journey towards his goals and following his own creative path. "To live like Bruce Lee, is to be fluid like water and make your own journey." Aoki on Bruce Lee’s influence: “Talking about the human side of things, there are a few people that have really changed the world by their words…Bruce Lee is one of them. There are only a few people that can really talk to people in a way that really touches you to the soul. And you know how genuine and authentic and human it is. It’s not about the martial art really, the martial art is an extension of his philosophy and the human side of everything. So when you get there, then you’re a devout fan for life, you’re changed forever.” Bruce Lee’s philosophy also informs Steve Aoki’s creative process and how he thinks about making music--putting his whole heart into his work. “Music isn’t just something that you listen to, and especially at shows, you’re experiencing all your senses.” #AAHA (Awesome Asians and Hapas) Steve Aoki does this week’s #AHAA’s shout-out to his friend Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park. Shinoda is a Japanese American musician, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, graphic designer, manager, and film composer. He co-founded Linkin Park in 1996 and Machine Shop Recordings in 2004, and his artwork has been featured in the Japanese American National Museum. Keep on being awesome Mike! #BruceLeeMoment Even though Steve Aoki can claim his whole life as one big #BruceLeeMoment, he shares a specific #BruceLeeMoment: “Game of Death was an incredible film. It’s like a video game but he was fighting all these different characters. And the fight he did with Kareem Abdul Jabbar, I stood in front of the framed poster of him fighting Kareem Abdul Jabbar, it’s just so epic, him in his yellow jumpsuit and Kareem being 90 ft tall. I just remember that moment right now, it just popped in my head, it always pops in my head. He’s just a badass, what can I say? But like what I was saying throughout this whole podcast, all the different ways that I’ve been able to survive and thrive and build these many successes, and really think about my life, it’s always from a Bruce Lee quote. Whether it’s “Be like water,” or “The journey is more important than the destination.” You have to be able to speak to people where you’re not excluding them too. That’s what he did, he spoke to everybody. It wasn’t like he was a human rights leader, but he was in the way in that he didn’t exclude anyone…and that’s one thing that really made me love this guy so much.” Thank you Steve Aoki for sharing how Bruce Lee has shaped your life and career. “Walk on.” There’s a story behind this famous quote. In 1969, Bruce severely injured his back during a routine training session because he didn’t warm up properly. He was told he could never practice martial arts again and may never walk normally. Devastated by this news, Bruce became a researcher of his injury, his body and ultimately created his own path to healing. The journey was long and there were many ups and downs. At one point he took one of his business cards and wrote “Walk on” on the back. He put this card where he could see it to remind him every day to move forward with his recovery. No matter what anyone else said, he would always “Walk on." It is from this year-long recovery period that produced much of Bruce Lee’s writing. Since he was confined to his bed, Bruce would read and write constantly to stay active. In one of his writings Bruce says: “Whether I like it or not, circumstances are thrust upon me, and being a fighter at heart, I sort of fight it in the beginning. But soon realize that what I need is not inner resistance and needless conflict, rather by joining forces to readjust, I need to make the best of it.” “Walk on and leave behind all the things that would dam up the inlet or clog the outlet of experience.” Later when writing to a friend about his back injury: “But with every adversity comes a blessing because a shock acts as a reminder to oneself that we must not get stale in routine.” It’s not the situation that’s the problem. It’s how you react to it. Bruce Lee used Buddhism’s Eight-fold path in relation to martial arts, but Shannon believes her father also used this path to design his recovery. “You must see clearly what is wrong. You must decide to be cured. Speak so as to aim at being cured. You must act. Your livelihood must not conflict with your therapy. The therapy must go forward at the staying speed. You must feel it and think about it incessantly. And learn how to contemplate with the deep mind.” “Walk On” is an action phrase. Here’s how you can take action with what we discussed this week: Think: Do you have a phrase that you use that helps you? Or what could be a phrase that you can create that can help you with whatever you are struggling with right now? Please share your phrases with us, we’d love to hear from you. Share via social media with the hashtag #BruceLeeMoment #AHAA (Awesome Asians and Hapas) This week's #AHAA shout-out goes to actress Constance Wu, currently on the TV show “Fresh Off the Boat. ”Recently, she ignited a Twitter-storm in response to the news of Matt Damon being cast in a movie called “The Great Wall” which is about China’s Great Wall. Constance starts off strong: “We have to stop perpetuating the racist myth that only a white man can save the world. It’s not based in actual fact. Our heroes don’t look like Matt Damon. They look like Malala. Ghandi. Mandela.” Bruce Lee was a huge advocate for casting people of color in leading roles and did not believe that America would only accept White lead characters. Thank you Constance for speaking truth and being awesome! #BruceLeeMoment This week we have an email from a fan named Bryon Yu: Hi my name is Byron from San Diego, CA. I've been listing to your podcast for a few days now and it's been very inspirational. It's awesome that you focus on Bruce Lee's philosophies, because there truly is more to him than the martial arts he's known for. As a Chinese-American, I've always struggled with finding the balance between the culture I am born into and the culture I am born from. And hearing how one of the most famous Chinese-Americans thinks definitely helps me puts things into perspective. Perhaps it's not so important to find a defined middle path, but to simply walk the path you believe is good and right. Thank you Shannon, Sharon, and the podcast team for doing this! Today's problem of the day is how to rectify a protected Twitter account with the need to reach a wide audience. And this ties right into our guest, Horacio Gavilán, Executive Director of AHAA, the largest national trade organization "representing the entire Hispanic marketing, communications and media industry." The word Hispanic was invented in 1972 by the U.S. Census Bureau to encompass 37 different nationalities and the population of those who would check that box in the Census is now 57 million in the United States. We learn the vast buying power of the Hispanic population in the U.S. which nearly every major industry has missed out on until recently. The IME is the Safety and Security Institute of the commercial explosives industry. The Institute represents U.S. manufacturers of high explosives and other companies that distribute explosives or provide related products and services. An average of 3 million metric tons of explosives are consumed annually in the United States, of which IME member companies produce over 95 percent. They are essential to energy production, highway and building construction, and the manufacture of almost all metal and mineral products. Horacio Gavilan has more than 20 years of experience in association management. In addition to his role as president of Gavilan & Associates, he serves as executive director of AHAA: The Voice of Hispanic Advertising, a position he has held since 1999. In this capacity, he has lead the board to achieve a membership that encompasses 97% of the total billings into the Hispanic market.

Laurence Boschetto, CEO & President, DraftfcbA few decades back, the ad industry witnessed the rise of specialist agencies built around key disciplines such as direct and retail and digital. The same applied to agencies targeting certain demographic groups. Now digital agencies are rushing to the middle in their quest to become general shops, and vice versa. We’re witnessing a similar phenomenon with multicultural agencies more frequently and effectively crossing over to target what will soon become the new general market. According to Mr. Boschetto, the future will belong to those agencies that most effectively reflect the attitudes and insights of an increasingly multi-hued population – where Diversity & Inclusion is no longer an initiative but a fundamental reality.Podcast #47 - AHAA 2013 Conference - Laurence Boschetto

The constant push and pull between their traditional Hispanic and aspirational American values is what makes Latinos culturally unique. The need to strike a balance between their two cultures and identities and the desire to "crack" the American code is at the core of what differentiates Latinos from the mainstream.

Es lautet: P/S/T-XXX-Q/E (Motiv I in Helix eins), ET/S (Motiv II in Helix zwei). 9.
