What happens when faith and bigotry collide? A Texas preacher made headlines after telling white Christian parents they need to give their kids "the talk” about the supposed dangers of Black people. This week on Thank God I'm Atheist: Trump's “patriotic education” plan turns the nation's 250th birthday into Christian nationalist indoctrination. Kash Patel sends Charlie Kirk to Valhalla (yes, really). The Taliban bans books by women and cuts more subjects from universities. A Colorado pastor's crypto scam crashes and burns. A Texas pastor goes full racist with his so-called “talk.” U.S. military academies start accepting the Christian nationalist CLT exam. And for the big topic: Frank and Dan debate the promise (and horror) of human immortality—would we even want to live forever?

In this explosive edition of Joe Untamed, we dive deep into the latest court revelations in Tina Peters' case, including testimony from a Venezuelan government official confirming that the same election system used in Venezuela—and admitted to being manipulated—has been implemented in Colorado. We'll break down the implications for election security and what it means for American democracy, alongside key commentary on the escalating rhetoric and violence affecting our political landscape. Joining us to navigate these complex issues is Kenneth S. Abramowitz, Co-Founder of NGN Capital, Chairman of Citizens for National Security, and author of The Multifront War: Defending America From Political Islam, China, Russia, Pandemics, and Racial Strife. With decades of experience in finance, healthcare, and national security, Abramowitz brings unmatched insight into the intersection of international policy, domestic threats, and the evolving balance of free speech in America. He'll weigh in on everything from the Charlie Kirk assassination, domestic terrorism, and the role of social media in shaping today's volatile environment, to America's foreign policy challenges and the Ukraine-Russia conflict. We'll also tackle the surge in politically motivated violence and the left's escalating rhetoric, highlighted by JD Vance and Senator Ted Cruz's recent statements on ICE and law enforcement. Backed by compelling research on political ideology and mental health from Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, we'll examine how ideological stressors and public messaging influence behavior. Don't miss this critical conversation that connects election integrity, national security, and the fight for truth in a polarized America.

Later in the episode, we’ll hear from Adam Young, a therapist and podcaster from Fort Collins, Colorado. Adam is the voice behind The Place We Find Ourselves, where he guides listeners through the intersections of personal story, trauma, and healing. In his work, Adam highlights the power of relationships, the wisdom of the body, and the role of faith in helping us find meaning and connection. Healing is necessarily relational, and it requires looking at the past.” - Adam Young “We’re created for secure attachment, which means a healthy relationship with God where we have a felt sense that God is there for us, that God will respond to our cries, and that God is pursuing our hearts.” - Adam Young “Practices in general, whether it’s prayer, mindfulness, walking and looking at beauty, whatever practices you have in your life where you bring the fullness of your presence—and that’s the key attribute for a practice to be meaningful—you have to be aware and present.” - Adam Young “The practice of prayer, the practice of solitude, both are necessary for the development of not just your brain, but for you to come to know who you are, who God created you to be, and how you uniquely reflect God in a way that others don’t.” - Adam Young ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! Barry Morphew Released on Bond: Inside the Evidence for Guilt vs Innocence On Mother's Day weekend in 2020, Suzanne Morphew vanished from her Colorado home, sparking a desperate search and a storm of suspicion. Her husband, Barry Morphew, told investigators she had gone for a bike ride and never returned. But as days stretched into weeks, the story took a darker turn. In 2021, Barry was arrested for Suzanne's murder — only to see the charges dropped in 2022 when prosecutors admitted they weren't ready. For a while, it seemed the case had collapsed. That changed in 2023 when Suzanne's remains were discovered in rural Saguache County. An autopsy in 2024 ruled her death a homicide, with “unspecified means.” The medical examiner also found something chilling: traces of a tranquilizer cocktail in her bones, the kind used to sedate wildlife. By 2025, prosecutors returned with a new indictment, claiming Barry had both the access and the motive to kill. They point to suspicious gaps in his phone data, marital conflict, and the unique tranquilizer evidence. For them, it's a clear pattern: means, motive, and opportunity. The defense sees it very differently. They stress what's missing: no eyewitness, no definitive cause of death, no direct proof of Barry's hand in Suzanne's final moments. To them, the state is building a case on circumstantial evidence and narrative framing, not hard facts. This year, Barry posted bond — $300,000 on a $3 million surety — and was released under strict monitoring. As he awaits trial, the questions remain: Is this the story of a husband who refused to let go, or the story of a man wrongly accused? In this episode, we break down the full timeline, the evidence, and the arguments on both sides. No speculation, no sensationalism — just the facts. You decide. Grab your oven mitts, because the tea is scalding! At CrimeCon 2025 in Denver, Colorado, we set up our first-ever Petty Crime Confession Box—and true crime fans did not hold back. From public urination to accidental shoplifting to church scandals that would make your grandma blush, the confessions poured in, giving us a hilarious and bizarre glimpse into the “life of petty crime.” We're joined by special guest Heather Ashley, host of Big Mad True Crime and a Violent Crime Intelligence & Reduction Specialist, who brings her own sharp (and funny) perspective to the chaos. With her long-time CrimeCon experience, Heather wanted to see exactly what her people have been hiding… and let's just say: the answers did not disappoint. But first, Trevin shares his “dreadful dilemma” of experiencing a Twilight Zone-style déjà vu in Estes Park, where every single stranger looked familiar. Amanda talks about surviving a post-convention breakdown—literally—when her car died in traffic as strangers yelled for her to move it. And Heather brings her own gut-wrenching dilemma, courtesy of some very spicy “frog salsa.” Then it's on to the confessions themselves—35 handwritten stories of crimes big and small, read aloud for the first time. You'll hear about: YouTuber & Podcaster, CC Suarez's revenge pee that got her expelled from boarding school The rise of a vandal tagger using the mark of buff Garfield (yes, the cat) A bracelet stolen in Myrtle Beach by accident A church hookup so awkward even the cops had to laugh Fans who can't stop stealing pint glasses and Taco Bell drive-thru drama And confessions of guilt over things that weren't even crimes in the first place From petty theft to accidental indecency, public urination at CrimeCon to mealworm mischief at Walmart, this episode proves that true crime fans know crime best. Whether funny, relatable, or straight-up unholy, these confessions remind us that everyone has a skeleton or two in their closet. So grab your magnifying glass, put on your detective cap, and speculate wildly with us—because nothing bonds true crime fans like a good petty confession. Jimmy Kimmel came back to raucous applause last night, showing heart, empathy and humor. At some points, his voice cracked with emotion as he talked about political violence never being the answer, about Erika Kirk forgiving her husband's killer and about everyone who offered support over the last few days as he fought to keep his show alive. His strongest moments may have been those talking about freedom of speech in America. Despite everything, Kimmel showed an unwillingness to back down in the face of pressure from Trump and his FCC. Kimmel's grace and strength seemed to bring out the worst in Trump who posted a litany of nasty remarks about Kimmel followed by big legal threats against ABC. Paul Hendricks is the Executive Director of the Conservation Alliance, a coalition of more than 270 businesses working together to protect wild places across North America. Founded nearly four decades ago by Patagonia, REI, The North Face, and Kelty, the Conservation Alliance has grown into one of the most important forces in conservation—pooling dollars, influence, and a collective business voice to support grassroots campaigns that keep public lands and waters healthy for generations to come. At a time when those places are under constant pressure, the Conservation Alliance is showing that businesses don't have to sit on the sidelines—they can be a powerful part of the solution. Paul's own path to this role winds through some of the most interesting corners of the conservation and environmental worlds. After earning a few advanced degrees, he started at Global Greengrants Fund, working with grassroots activists around the globe. He then joined Patagonia's legendary environmental team, where he learned firsthand how a company can weave values into every decision. From there he helped build sustainability programs at Rivian, tackling the climate footprint of a car company from the inside. And woven through all of that is a through-line of humility, service, and adventure. In this conversation, Paul and I talk about the roots of his love for the outdoors, the mentors and lessons that shaped his career, and what it's like to step into the hot seat as a first-time executive director. We dig into the Conservation Alliance's mission and why business advocacy matters, the current threats facing public lands, and how Paul stays grounded in turbulent times. We also talk about family, leadership, failure, and why hope is not just possible but necessary. It's a candid, thoughtful conversation with someone who's not only shaping the future of conservation, but doing it with humility, persistence, and just enough humor to keep it human. I've had the privilege of knowing Paul for almost 15 years–we met when he first moved to Colorado, became running and climbing partners, and have logged more hours together in the mountains and had more meaningful conversations than I can count. Watching him grow into this role has been inspiring, both for the positions he's held and for the way he's carried himself along the way. --- Paul Hendricks The Conservation Alliance Full episode notes and links: https://mountainandprairie.com/paul-hendricks/ --- TOPICS DISCUSSED: 2:37 – Intro, Ed's one running partner 4:03 – How the outdoors has shaped Paul's career 6:48 – Plan post-college 12:41 – Sunk-cost fallacy 14:22 – Global Greengrants Fund 17:05 – Learning from Rick Ridgeway 20:23 – Lessons from Patagonia 24:25 – Ready for a new challenge 30:00 – Laid off at Rivian 36:02 – Being in charge 38:01 – The Conservation Alliance history 43:07 – TCA within public lands threats 48:58 – What's missing from the public lands story? 51:49 – Paul's role as a leader 56:14 – Role models 59:04 – Getting outdoors now 1:01:10 – Book recs 1:03:09 – 1% for the Planet collab 1:05:14 – Wrapping up --- ABOUT MOUNTAIN & PRAIRIE: Mountain & Prairie - All Episodes Mountain & Prairie Shop Mountain & Prairie on Instagram Upcoming Events About Ed Roberson Support Mountain & Prairie Leave a Review on Apple Podcasts

In this episode, Dan Johnson and Jason Tibbadoe share their hunting experiences, focusing on a memorable elk hunting trip in Colorado and a proud moment of a father taking his son on his first hunt. They discuss the challenges faced during the elk hunt, including wildlife encounters, preparation, and the costs associated with such adventures. The conversation highlights the importance of bonding through hunting, the unpredictability of wildlife, and the lessons learned from each experience. Hunting can create lasting memories and bonding experiences. Preparation is key for a successful hunting trip. Wildlife encounters can be unpredictable and exciting. Understanding animal behavior is crucial for hunting success. The cost of hunting trips can be significant but worth the experience. Elk hunting requires patience and adaptability. Hunting strategies should be adjusted based on the environment. The thrill of the hunt often outweighs the challenges faced. Sharing hunting experiences can inspire others to explore the outdoors. Every hunting trip is a learning opportunity. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The major rivers of the Rio Grande and the Colorado run through both the United States and Mexico and they are the source of a water sharing agreement between the two countries that dates back to 1944. Under the terms of this treaty, Mexico must send 430 million cubic metres of water per year from the Rio Grande to the US, to supply Texas and dozens of cities near the border. Whilst the US sends a much larger allocation of nearly 1.85 billion cubic metres of water a year, from the Colorado River to supply Mexico's border cities like Mexicali and Tijuana. But 80 years on, a deepening row over a shortage of water has put the treaty in jeopardy. Mexico is in arrears and has failed to keep up with its water deliveries to the US for much of this century and its unlikely to meet its obligation this year too. Farmers on both sides are struggling to water their crops, whilst the border cities are facing water shortages for both their populations and industries. And pressure on Mexico is mounting with President Trump earlier this year accusing Mexico of ‘stealing' the water. So this week on The Inquiry, we're asking ‘Why does Mexico owe the US water?'Contributors: Stephen Mumme, Emeritus Professor in Political Science, Colorado State University, USA Dr Rosario Sanchez, Senior Research Scientist, Texas Water Resources Institute, USA Susanne Schmeier, Professor in Water Co-operation, Law and Diplomacy, IHE Delft, The Netherlands.
