What does it take to grow a successful Network Marketing business? How do you become a leader, and stay motivated every single day? These are the questions that we’re diving into today with our incredible guest, Richard Bliss Brooke. Richard is no stranger to the world of Network Marketing. He has been a full-time leader, company owner, and high-performance coach since 1977. By the age of 28, he had already built a team of 30,000 active sales leaders before going on to purchase a Network Marketing company in 1986. With years of experience under his belt, Richard now dedicates his time to helping others succeed in the industry. Richard joins us today to explore topics like state of mind and being, what we truly need as individuals to succeed, our story and how that influences our success, and so much more! Richard has shared stages with some of the biggest names in personal development, including Tony Robbins, John Maxwell, Les Brown, Richard Branson, and even Pitbull. His message is not only inspiring, but also actionable for anyone looking to take their Network Marketing business to the next level. His insights are practical, authentic and most importantly, proven to work. You won’t want to miss the incredible wisdom Richard shares in this episode. Starting in Livingston, California, Richard was introduced to Direct Sales after career progression at Foster Farms became restricted without a degree. With early success in recruiting, he built his first sales team, learned from mentors like Kurt Robb and Lou Tice, and led 30,000 partners by age 28. Richard turned around Oxyfresh, a struggling dental and pet care company, by purchasing a minority interest and growing it into a thriving business. In 2017, he transitioned Oxyfresh into a direct-to-consumer model, landing it on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies. His leadership was also featured on the cover of SUCCESS magazine. Richard emphasizes the importance of vision, authenticity, and self-motivation - themes central to his book, ‘Mach2 With Your Hair on Fire’. He continues to inspire others through personal retreats, coaching, and speaking engagements with figures like Tony Robbins. BREAKING NEWS: Animal Outlook releases shocking, new undercover video of chickens being abused in a California factory farm and is calling for the Fresno County District Attorney's office to file criminal animal cruelty charges against the corporation, which Animal Outlook identifies as Foster Farms, a major supplier to many big supermarkets. The video appears to show multiple instances of forklifts driving over and hitting live chickens, chickens being thrown, chickens being kicked and grabbed by their wings. Foster Farms says all of its chicken farms are American Humane Association Certified, and that the chickens it raises enjoy the 5 freedoms: including, “freedom from discomfort,” and “freedom from injury, pain, or disease.” Animal Outlook says its investigation “reveals a stark contrast, showing anything but humane care and freedom from discomfort, injury and fear.” Foster Farms is invited on any time to respond to Animal Outlook's allegations. UnchainedTV's Jane Velez-Mitchell speaks to Animal Outlook's new Executive Director, Ben Williamson about this blockbuster breaking news and his fascinating history as a leader in the animal rights movement. Usually we spend our time on this podcast talking about our for-profit healthcare system and why we need to make healthcare a public good, but in this episode we're taking a detour into another privatized American system that should be public: our railroads! Just like in US healthcare, private companies are falling asleep at the switch on managing our railroads, and just like in the healthcare system, the failure of big corporations is costing money and lives. Today, we're joined by Michael Paul Lindsey (who goes by Paul, or Railroad Refugee on Tiktok) a locomotive engineer for 17 years. Paul is a Steering Committee member of Railroad Workers United, a huge inter-union labor caucus of railroad workers from across the country that is fighting both for Medicare for All and for making our country's railroads public. We're going to talk about the parallels between these two fights, why railroad workers support Medicare for All, and why we think everyone who's passionate about Medicare for All should also get excited about establishing public railways in this country! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrNWHItT6iw Show Notes RWU has been a supporter of Medicare for All for some time because railroad workers have so much trouble keeping decent healthcare while the rail companies try to gut benefits and use healthcare as a bargaining tactic against workers. Like other corporations, railroads use the increasing cost of healthcare benefits to cut into the other pay and benefits earned by railroad workers. They consistently shift more of the cost onto the workers, while claiming the benefits are so rich they can't also provide workers with paid sick time or better time off benefits. Railroad workers, like so many other Americans, are locked into their jobs because they need the health insurance. In countries with a national health plan, workers have the basic economic freedom to leave their job if they don't like it, without worrying about healthcare. Those workers have better negotiating power because the employer can't hold healthcare over their heads. But in the U.S. railroad companies - and most large corporations - have more control over their employees because their families depend on employer-provided healthcare. Most Americans aren't very aware of railroads and commercial rail. But commercial rail is integral to the entire modern economy. A recent example in California illustrates rail's reach into our economy: Union Pacific wasn't delivering sufficient amounts of grain to Foster Farms, one of the largest chicken and turkey producers in the country. Foster Farms was days away from having to slaughter millions of chickens. Union Pacific blamed congestion, and shortages of locomotives and workers for the delays, while in fact they had cut their own resources relentlessly to buyback stock shares. Only after the Feds ordered Union Pacific to increase grain shipments was the problem resolved. So while many other industries depend on rail for their very existence, the railroad companies' focus on stock buybacks reduces their capacity to deliver goods, potentially wiping out entire industries. , reducing the capacity of railroads to deliver goods. Ultimately, taxpayers make up the difference because the cargo has to be delivered by trucks on the publicly subsidized highway system. It's important to know more about an industry with so much control over the economy. For most of American history railroads have been privately owned. However when there wasn't enough capacity to support the war effort during the First World War, the U.S. temporarily nationalized the railroads, investing heavily in upgrades at taxpayers' expense. That was all returned to private ownership after the war. Since the 1950s and 1960s railroads began to merge and consolidate, at the same time the U.S. government began investing in the competition, with subsidized interstate highways and airports.

On Friday, March 17th, after nearly six hours of deliberation, and facing up to six months in jail if convicted, Alexandra Paul and co-defendant Alicia Santurio were acquitted by a California jury of the alleged crime of taking two sick, slaughter-bound chickens from a Foster Farms truck in Livingston, California. Prosecutors called it stealing, but Alexandra and Alicia called it a rescue. From accused to acquittal, in this very special episode, we get to hear the story from Alexandra herself, including all the riveting behind-the-scenes details of what led these two courageous activists to set out to expose the cruelty of poultry slaughter, and demonstrate why they had the right to rescue these two sentient beings in the first place.    “So I'll tell you what open rescue is and then I'll explain what happened that day. Open rescue is when animal investigators go into places where there has been claims of abuse or suspicions of abuse, like factory farms, and we document what we see. And if there is an animal who is sick and needs immediate medical care, for whom we have a sanctuary because it's very hard to find placement for animals, then we will take that animal out of that facility with us. And we do not hide our faces. In fact, the video of myself and Alicia rescuing Ethan and Jax was publicized within the hour on the internet with our names. And the reason we do this is because we believe that what we're doing is legal.” - Alexandra Paul   What we discuss in this episode: Alexandra's detailed account of jury selection What the right to rescue is and why it's so important How and why Alexandra and Alicia were acquitted Why Alexandra and Alicia rescued chickens Ethan and Jax The inhumane acts taking place in chicken slaughterhouses Why the trial took nine days The last-minute trick the prosecutor pulled during closing statements   Resources: The entire trial on video here: https://www.youtube.com/c/DirectActionEverywhere Direct Action Everywhere links: directactioneverywhere.com  https://www.facebook.com/directactioneverywhere https://twitter.com/dxeverywhere https://www.instagram.com/directactioneverywhere/ Alexandra's website and social media links: Alexandra Paul  Alexandra Paul (@alexandra_actress) • Instagram photos and videos https://twitter.com/alexandra_paul https://www.facebook.com/AlexandraPaulOfficial/   Dairy-Free Swaps Guide: Easy Anti-Inflammatory Meals, Recipes, and Tips https://switch4good.org/dairy-free-swaps-guide SUPPORT SWITCH4GOOD https://switch4good.org/support-us/ ★☆★ JOIN OUR PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP ★☆★  https://www.facebook.com/groups/podcastchat ★☆★ SWITCH4GOOD WEBSITE ★☆★ https://switch4good.org/ ★☆★ ONLINE STORE ★☆★ https://shop.switch4good.org/shop/ ★☆★ FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM ★☆★ https://www.instagram.com/Switch4Good/ ★☆★ LIKE US ON FACEBOOK ★☆★ https://www.facebook.com/Switch4Good/ ★☆★ FOLLOW US ON TWITTER ★☆★ https://mobile.twitter.com/Switch4GoodNFT ★☆★ DOWNLOAD THE ABILLION APP ★☆★ https://app.abillion.com/users/switch4good

Modesto Junior College is located in the heart of the Central Valley of California.  The abundance of different agricultural enterprises in this area of California make the learning opportunities at MJC vast.  From permanent crops like almonds and fruit orchards to large scale agribusiness dairies to beef production and fresh vegetables there are farmers in this area doing everything an aspiring ag student might be looking for.  And if ag industry is what you are looking for it can be found in the Central Valley and Modesto area, such as Gallo Wines, Del Monte, Foster Farms and many more. Nicole Morris is a fourth generation dairy farmer and Animal/Dairy Science Instructor at Modesto Junior College.  Today she joins me to talk about the multitude of agricultural opportunities at MJC. We're reprising an investigation from The California Report's Central Valley reporter, Alex Hall, that recently earned a National Murrow award for News Documentary. In 2020, California's Foster Farms became the site of one of the nation's deadliest COVID-19 outbreaks at a meat or poultry plant. Hall spent a year and a half talking to spouses and family members of workers who spent decades at the company's chicken-processing plants. She found that hundreds of Foster Farms workers tested positive for the virus in 2020. Sixteen people died and at least 20 others were hospitalized. Hall's investigation shows that as plants stayed open to maintain the food supply, and workers got sick from COVID-19, Foster Farms didn't always give a complete picture of the problem to health officials, state regulators and their own employees. We meet families who lost loved ones who worked at Foster Farms – families who are grieving, struggling financially, and trying to make sense of what happened. We'll also include an update on the fact that Foster Farms was recently sold to a private equity firm.

At 29 Randy Icelow said he was a temp worker for a bus company in California's Central Valley and flashforward to now he is 38 and CEO of a $63 million credit union, Rolling F based in Turlock CA, where its SEG is Foster Farms, one of the biggest chicken companies in the country. This podcast grew out of a post Icelow put up on the CU 2.0 Facebook group where he recounted his story. Reading his story we knew he had to be a podcast guest because his is an inspiration story of success in the face of failure. He graduated from college in 2008 with a finance degree and you remember how dismal the credit union and bank job markets were then. He bounced around a bit, took more classes, got a job as a school teacher in Stockton, which proceeded to file bankruptcy. He was back working as a temp and he lucked out. He got a gig at a credit union which liked him so much they hired him onto regular staff. After a while he applied for a CEO job at a bank - didn't get it but learned a lot - and then applied for the CEO job at Rolling F which he did not get. A retired banker got the job but the board advised him to hire Icelow and train him up to be his successor, which came to pass in three years. You like that story? Of course you do.But there are other great stories in this podcast. Richard Bliss Brooke went from chicken chopper to CEO, according to Success magazine in its 1992 cover story ... an issue that outsold every issue in the 100-year history of the magazine. He was only 36 years old when Success magazine featured his journey from earning $3.05 an hour cutting chickens for Foster Farms to creating millionaires from his sales training and performance coaching. Had it not been for an obscure management decision by Foster Farms – they would not promote anyone who did not have a college degree – Richard would have recently retired from a 40-year career at the processing plant. Instead, he pivoted and built a nationwide sales organization of 30,000 people by the time he was 28, and went on to build two global companies over the next 35 years. As a keynote speaker, he has wowed audiences of over 10,000 and shared the stage with Tony Robbins, Sir Richard Branson, Bob Proctor, John Maxwell, and many others. As an author, he has written three books and hundreds of articles and blogs. He has been acknowledged for his ontological coaching and his book “Mach2” by Gale Sayers, John Elway, Harvey Mackay, Les Brown, Jack Canfield, and thousands of others. “I am a classic case of failing forward,” says Richard. “I have always looked for the seed of equal or greater benefit in adversity, as suggested by Dr. Napoleon Hill. And I am a passionate believer in self-motivation. With it, nothing else really matters. Without it, nothing else really works." Today Richard runs his three multimillion-dollar companies from his home on the island of Lanai, Hawaii. He loves to golf, fly helicopters, scuba dive, boat, ATV, hike, paddleboard, and bask in the good life with his wife, Kimmy, step-daughter Hailey, and Marley the Maltipoo. Richard grew up on a cattle ranch in Chowchilla, California. His parents were affluent and educated, but Richard was a negative thinker. He hated high school, felt unworthy of love after his parent’s divorce, and barely graduated with a D average. So it was no surprise when his “ambition” led him to Foster Farms, the largest poultry plant in the world.Richard began living life at the speed of 38 BPM (Birds Per Minute). His job was to cut chickens into parts as they flew past him on the production line. Ambitious and hard-working, Richard dreamed of climbing the ranks and happily retiring after 40 years. With four years under his belt, Richard thought he was really cutting it - life, not chickens. It was 1977. Richard was 22 years old. Then something happened that forever changed the course of Richard’s life. Foster Farms changed their policy to where only employees with a four-year college degree could advance. This led Richard to say yes to a new opportunity: Network Marketing.Initially, he struggled to figure it out, how to find the right people, what to say, and how to overcome the setbacks. Eventually, through a rigorous investment of time and money in his own personal development, he discovered that it was his own thoughts, beliefs, and stories about himself that was holding him back. He changed them, changed them quickly and his business changed with them.Three years later, at age 28, Richard had 30,000 active partners building with him.

Welcome back! On this episode of the Cameron-Brooks podcast I interview Jim Rhoden. Jim is a former Army Logistician who transitioned in 2015. He had 13 interviews at the Cameron-Brooks Career Conference and through the Conference and Follow Up Interview Process, he engaged in a total of 45  interviews which rendered 4 different offers for employment. Jim launched his career at Foster Farms as a plant manager. Foster Farms is the largest poultry producer in the western Unites States. On the podcast, Jim shares his keys to navigating your career and earning success. NAVIGATING YOUR CAREER As an Army officer, Jim had excellent operational experience. This allowed him to not only prove his fit in his interviews with Foster Farms, but also find much success in his first role. He was able to apply many of the leadership tools he gained in the Army, which allowed him to accelerate quickly. After a year and a half, Jim navigated his career from the production environment to the corporate headquarters where he received a promotion to Supply Planning Manager. In this role, he worked with manufacturing facilities to develop efficient production schedules and demand models to meet inventory requirements. In December, Jim was promoted to Contract Manufacturing Manager ! He now works with third party suppliers, as well as internal Foster Farms departments, to plan new products for his company. COMMITMENT TO GETTING BETTER While Jim was in the Army and preparing to transition, he had a high level of engagement in our Development and Preparation Program. He read all of the books on the Required Reading List and put in a ton of effort to ensure success at his Career Conference. Since starting at Foster Farms over four years ago, he has been promoted twice and has done a nice job taking control of his career. A resounding theme throughout the podcast is Jim has been successful at every stage of his career because he has never stopped learning and developing professionally. A few of the books that he found particularly helpful as he was starting new roles at Foster Farms include The First 90 Days and Getting to Yes. Jim is off to an incredible start in Corporate America and I think you'll really enjoy learning more about his path. The guys started the show with a Flamingo flash back, Don’s iTunes Radio “Grateful Dead” channel experiment (sans Katy Perry and Kanye West), New Girl with Zooey Deschanel, She & Him, Steve Earle, The Walking Dead, the Pulling the String podcast, and The Lone Ranger. Don then shared how he used the Internet’s way-back machine (not to be confused with Mister Peabody’s WABAC Machine) to get around the black-out of US government websites. Ben then turned to an NPR article about the Niche Meat Processor Assistance Network and a Kickstarter campaign to create an open source HACCP plan. This lead into a broader discussion of the work undertaken by extension specialists, Don’s ‘useless’ Twitter exchange and how to find out about food safety using Let Me Google That For You. In the Food Safety History segment, Don shared information from the IAFP History book about the 1950’s and an increased focus on preventing foodborne illness. Don then returned to his recent Twitter exchange about hand washing with @Frankly and @danbenjamin, which included this article from About.com. The article, which referenced unpublished work from 2000 by Barbara Almanza on hand sanitizers, got the guys fired up about the regulatory system and undertaking effective research on the assessing the efficacy of hand sanitizers. After taking yet another detour into the world of The Wire, the guys returned to hand sanitizers and discussed some research articles, including: Effectiveness of Liquid Soap and Hand Sanitizer against Norwalk Virus on Contaminated Hands Improved inactivation of nonenveloped enteric viruses and their surrogates by a novel alcohol-based hand sanitizer Comparative efficacy of seven hand sanitizers against murine norovirus, feline calicivirus, and GII.4 norovirus Management of Risk of Microbial Cross-Contamination from Uncooked Frozen Hamburgers by Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizer To finish this monster show, the guys briefly touched on Foster Farms fiasco, which they’ve kept on their list of things to discuss next time. By the time the after dark came around Don was contemplating a career in pottery, while Ben favored rolling cigars for a living.
